Prologue
Isabella Hartley is the new girl in town with a totally unbelievable secret, one known only to those closest to her - her parents Jonathan and Theresa Hartley, sister Sophie Hartley, and late grandfather: she's a mermaid! No, she wasn't born this way, and no, her family doesn't sprout tails, either. She became one, at the tender age of nine, after stumbling upon a moon pool in the caves of Ireland while her parents were at work and her older adopted sister Sophie, now a diving instructor, was out babysitting. As one could only imagine, her family were not expecting such a thing, but luckily for Bella, they have been nothing but supportive and protective, especially Sophie, who, although she means well, can be a bit overbearing every now and then.
