"You're shitting me"
"No, I mean it" Ianto said sternly as he thrust the bundle of clothing at his brother-in-law and Rhys balked as he accepted it, shaking it out to reveal overalls.
"But… I'm a fat bastard to begin with. These will make me stick out like balls on a fucking bulldog's….." he stopped moaning as Ianto held out the hardhat to go with them, now he focused on Ianto "Huh?"
"there is construction on the second floor, as such there are construction workers milling about amongst the crowd out there. You're right Johnny… you are too noticeable to hide like I can Rhia. We have to go the other way, obvious. So obvious they look away because it's not reasonable to expect you to not belong. You hold this packet of cigarettes out so it's obvious you want a smoke break, move at a fast trot, don't make eye contact and slide out that side door like a fucking boss." Ianto flicked his thumb to the left of the doorway they were able to see from inside the corridor.
"And that will work?"
"Owen is dressed the same, wahtincg for you at the door. If it looks like someone is stepping towards you to challenge you or something, he will yell 'hurry up ya tosser' like he knows you. You can give him the fingers and move faster. Trust me, he will get you out. YOU will get you out, just… have some faith in yourself and walk with confidence. Come on, pretend you're me on a power walk. You know how I mow down anyone in my path. Do that. Be me. Sans my husband's dick on me mind though… he's mine" Ianto winked and as he knew it would, it lightened the mono and Johnny snorted softly.
"Ya poofter!" Johnny said with affection that an outsider might mistake for a slur "And me wife?"
"MY sister. We've known each other our my life. Come on, you think we can't walk like a married couple, arm in arm? Synchronised pacing? Here Rhia, wanna emulate mama? This blonde wig will transform you, these horn rimmed glassed and here… this shawl is cashmere" Ianto said as she got her own disguise and felt like a million bucks, especially with her husband looking at her arse in that appreciative way she likes.
"OK, Jack is waiting outside for us, Toshiko is over there by the coms booth ficking up their communications and security feeds. When we walk, it will be with full confidence, got it?" Ianto demanded and they nodded.
He turned and watched Toshiko until he caught her eye. She turned away from the booth, the little tablet in her hand folded miraculously to look like a notebook, and then it slid into the folds of her skirts where a pocket had been created. She then strode towards the main exit with nonchalance, a gift bag of freebies over her shoulder.
"Go" Ianto said, Johnny jumping like a gun had gone off, and then doing as he was told. After the was a few strides out Ianto turned to Rhiannon, "Come on sissy. Let's strut."
It was surreal, they walked amongst security, UNIT in their red caps like they were fucking little gods and some high up national defence staff who did not even glance at them, thinking they were members of the public here to see the latest technologies and simply moving around the missing persons booth was a part of the crime division.
Which they were currently in front of now. Ianto reached out to snatch a free kit and nodded to the man behind the counter, making Rhiannon seem invisible on the other side of him as she walked with her head turned away.
Before she knew it, hands were lifting her up as Jack swung her around and kissed her cheek, then helped her into the SUV Johnny was already in, his face flushed and the fear raw as he clung to her. Wimp.
Ianto got in and tried not glare but he knew his sister could read him like a book and knew his dislike for the twat had not diminished any since the first time he met him. Still, he had not left him behind tied up right?
Owen and Toshiko were in the vehicle and they were moving, Jack driving like a bloody legend, roaring up onto the main highway and way with speed.
"Are we free?" Rhiannon finally asked.
Once we swap vehicles and make sure there are no tails… I will tell you my answer" Ianto replied as he swung in his seat to check the mirrors and then directly between the seats to see out the back window, his eyes moving to meet hers before he turned back around.
Rhiannon had never seen their Grandy in him before, this gruff and powerful behemoth who filed the vehicle as he had filled the room. Finally, for the first time in her life Rhiannon saw her brother. She finally, after all these years, saw the real Ianto.
And he was mighty.
