Chapter Twenty-Seven:

The Coming of New Allies

Sonic stood his ground, so did his friends, and Sonic's counterparts. The swarm of Badnik forces were encircling the heroes with their numbers. Sonic knew that his speed wouldn't be enough for long, even Boom Sonic and the other Sonics knew that. The two Princess Amys fought with their magic and swordplay, but their wisdom told them it was likely the situation would become hopeless.

Even then, even with all of those shuttles and advancing robots, there was still enough fight left in Sonic. He never gave up, not in the face of such adversity, and neither did Eggman. The blue hedgehog was more than determined to ensure that the mad scientist's designs for the world and the multiverse never came to full fruition.

Eggman had the Eggman Alliance.

Sonic had the League of Sonics.

One side had a large army of robots, and could potentially bring henchmen into the mix. The other had a slew of speedy hedgehogs with twin-tailed geniuses and attractive princesses.

To say that Shadow was part of the League of Sonics, if he ever showed up again, would be hard. While he worked with Team Dark, Shadow tended to go into lone wolf mode at times, but he was still fast, and was equal to Sonic in terms of speed prowess.

Movie Sonic and Manhog Sonic stood back-to-back, their fur crackling with blue energy. The Egg Hammers' eyes gleamed in the darkness, flashing an eerie orange-red, and the Swatbots clicked as they advanced further with blasters emerging from their arms, aiming at the hedgehogs. More shuttles flew in, all ready to make another bombing run.

"Yo, Tails. You got any EMP devices that could be useful right about now?" Sonic asked his partner.

Tails groaned in frustration. "Darn it, I didn't even think about that." He remarked.

"I made one." Boom Tails said, "But I left it in the workshop back home."

"Smooth going, fox boy." Boom Sonic quipped with annoyance.

"DESTROY HEDGEHOGS!" An Egg Pawn buzzed, "DESTROY, DESTROY!"

The Badniks began chanting for Sonic's destruction, the Egg Hammers twirled their weapons menacingly, and the Swatbots buzzed "Hedgehog: Priority One" as their red eyes flashed. Sonic kicked the ground, preparing to make a light-speed dash. He and the other Sonics weren't going down without putting up another fight, nor were they going to let their own friends bite the dust.

Just then, something struck an incoming shuttle, knocking it out of the sky, and causing it to crash into an Egg Hammer. The impact ruptured the Badnik and the shuttle, destroying both at the same time. A second later, Sonic and the others heard a shrill battle cry. Every robot turned away from the blue speedsters and their allies; all sights now fixed upon their new targets as they entered the vicinity.

Sonic pumped his fist with glee, watching as Knuckles glided in and smashed a hole through a Swatbot shuttle. And that was when the hedgehog noticed a LEGO-y version of Knuckles fighting alongside the red echidna, then he saw a younger, black-eyed, shorter Knuckles smashing an Egg Pawn.

'Looks like Classic Team Sonic is finally together.' The hedgehog thought.

An orange female jungle badger made her appearance, wearing a tube top and a skirt, and wielding a boomerang, and a bo staff. The badger smashed off a Swatbot's head with her boomerang, then she sliced up several Badnik troops with the Bo-staff just as another alternate version of Amy Rose, one wearing purple leggings and sports tape, joined the battle with a bigger Piko-Piko Hammer.

"ITS CRUNCHING TIME!"

A burlier version of Knuckles charged into the fray, knocking down another pack of Swatbots, before grabbing one of the bulky red-gray Swatbot-like Badniks and chucking it at a shuttle. The shuttle went down, then a blue blur swept through the area and smashed the other red-gray robots into pieces like they were nothing.

"Blimey, you buggers are gettin' more tough." A blue hedgehog with a British accent remarked.

'No way.' Sonic thought, another Sonic had just joined the League of Sonics, and he didn't even think he would ever see a British hedgehog.

"Why are we standin' around for?" Sat AM Sonic said, "Let's smash some bots!"

The others nodded, then they joined their newly arrived allies. Sonic fist-bumped Fleetway Sonic, then he smashed down a Swatbot along with another Egg Hammer. Movie Sonic and his Manhog self joined forces once more, spin-dashing Badniks together, and Princess Amy #2 unleashed a sword beam that blasted a shuttle from the sky.

Knuckles came in for landing and elbowed Boom Knuckles, then Boom Sonic ran up to the burly red echidna and pounded his shoulder, "Great to see you, Knux."

"I've been tryin' to tell everyone the whole Eggman Alliance is just the beginning of a bigger multiversal apocalypse!" Sticks yelled as she smashed another Badnik, "The great Eggman beast is comin' and all of the Eggmen are the key, but no one is listening to me! And nobody knows that a great multiversal war is inevitable, and that we all have our parts to play in the big battle!"

"VIVA LA FREEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!"

"Hey, hey!" Sat AM Sonic exclaimed happily, "The gang's here!"

A female rabbit with cybernetics swooped in, punching a hole through one of the robots, and a slender chipmunk girl judo-flipped an Egg Pawn, while a walrus beat up a Badnik soldier. A coyote in a blue uniform charged into the fray, swinging a sword with a somewhat brave look on his face, before he cleaved a Swatbot at the torso and reduced it to scrap metal.

Sonic was in the midst of smashing one of the red-gray Badnik soldiers with assistance from Boom Sonic when Fleetway Sonic came by, the British hedgehog took the time to smash an Egg Hammer, then he pulled Sonic aside and whispered, "Those bulky robots are Troopers, my Robotnik made them. They're like what some people call 'Swatbots', but they're not."

"Thanks for the tip." Sonic nodded.

A light flashed and Shadow the Hedgehog finally reappeared. The Ultimate Life Form unleashed Chaos Spear, blasting several shuttles out of the sky, and then, he kicked an Egg Pawn hard enough to knock its head clean off. No sooner than Shadow had returned, a familiar white bat swooped in from the sky, and struck one of the Badniks with a twirling kick.

Sonic was fighting the urge to laugh excitedly, but it was great to have back-up. He and the others worked together, smashing every Badnik that was still in the area, until there weren't that many left to face. The rest of the Badniks, reduced to only a few Egg Pawns, ran off, leaving the victorious heroes to clean up the mess and recover from the battle.

And this gave most of the heroes the room they needed to get to know their new allies...
