Chapter 4: A Leaf in the Wind
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. Sorry this one took a while needed to figure out my direction for Book One. I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.
It was a peaceful morning at Air Temple Island as Koji was sitting with Tenzin and Korra for breakfast while Korra was reading the paper.
"And, in the final round, the Buzzard Wasps won with a decisive knockout! [What do you say we go to the arena tonight, catch a few pro-bending matches?" Korra suggests.
"That sport is a mockery of the noble tradition of bending." Tenzin said.
"Come on Tenzin, I've dreamed of seeing a pro bending match since I was a kid and now I'm just a ferry ride away from the arena." Korra said.
"Korra, you're not here to watch that drivel. You're here to finish your Avatar training. So, for the time being, I want you to remain on the island." Tenzin said.
"Is that why you have Koji and the White Lotus sentries around watching my every move?" Korra asks gesturing to the White Lotus members sitting around them.
"Hey I am very pleasant company." Koji said.
"In order to learn airbending I believe you require a calm, quiet environment, free from any distractions." Tenzin said.
"Alright, you're the airbending master." Korra sighs.
"Don't worry at least this time you have me to help you out." Koji said.
"Thanks I feel so much better." Korra smirks.
"Well I'm gonna go get Jinora, Ikki and Meelo hopefully they don't make you look too bad when you blow it." Koji said standing up and walking away.
"I'll show you." Korra said accepting the challenge.
Soon, Korra and Tenzin were walking out, but for her training instead of her normal water tribe clothes Korra was wearing an air temple outfit.
"So my mother tells me that you've never been able to airbend before." Tenzin said.
"Yeah all the other elements came so easy to me but every single time I try airbending. Nothing." Korra said.
"That's perfectly all right. You just need to be patient. Often the element that's the most difficult for the Avatar to master is the one most opposite to the Avatar's personality. For Aang, it was earthbending." Tenzin explains.
"Well I'm about as opposite an airbender as you can get." Korra said.
"Let's begin your first lesson." Tenzin said leading Korra to a series of wooden gates where Koji, Jinora, Ikki and Meelo were waiting for them.
"Korra's gonna airbend! Korra's gonna airbend!" Ikki said excited.
"What is that contraption?" Korra asks.
"A time-honored tool that teaches the most fundamental aspect of airbending. Jinora, would you like to explain this exercise?" Tenzin asks.
"The goal is to weave your way through the gates and make it to the other side without touching them." Jinora explains.
"Sounds simple enough." Korra said.
"That's not all." Koji said.
"Jinora forgot to mention you have to do it while the gates are spinning." Ikki said as Tenzin stepped forward and blew a powerful gust of wind causing the gates to spin rapidly before blowing a leaf towards it.
"The key is to be like the leaf. Flow with the movement of the gates. Jinora will demonstrate." Tenzin said.
"Go get'em." Koji said as Jinora nods walking forward.
"Airbending is all about spiral movements. When you meet resistance, you must be able to switch direction at a moment's notice." Tenzin said as Jinora moved in a circular motion dodging all the gates with ease before coming out the other side.
"Good luck Korra." Koji said as Jinora blew a gust of wind making the gates spin rapidly again.
"Let's do this!" Korra said charging forward but ends up smashing right into the gate causing Koji and Tenzin to wince.
Korra tries to keep moving but ends up getting whacked by the gates again and again before falling out back at the front.
Growling Korra gets back up and charges in before getting hit repeatedly.
"This isn't a race!" Koji said.
"Don't force your way through!" Jinora said.
"Dance! Dance like the wind!" Ikki said.
"Be the leaf!" Meelo said as Korra falls to the ground.
"Maybe we try some meditating." Koji suggests.
"Good idea." Tenzin said as he helped Korra up. "Jinora, Ikki, Meelo come on."
Looking around Koji saw no one else was in the area before he turned to the gates. Holding out his palm Koji released a gust of wind causing the gates to spin. Taking a deep breath Koji leaped towards the gates and weaved through the gates before rolling out to the other side.
"Yes." Koji grins pumping his fist before running to meet with the others.
That night, Korra was in the courtyard with Naga laying nearby.
"Airbend!" Korra said pushing her palms towards a picture of Chief Beifong but nothing happened. "Ugh Airbend!" Growling in anger Korra used firebending and burned the paper. "Maybe I'm just not cut out to be an airbender."
Suddenly Korra heard a radio broadcast. Looking up she saw three White Lotus members listening to probending on the radio.
"Ladies and gentlemen! I'm coming to you live from Republic City's Pro-bending Arena, where tonight the best in the world continue their quest for a spot in the upcoming championship tournament. Grab your snacks and grab your kids because this next match is gonna be a doozy!"
Moving quickly Korra climbs up onto the roof to listen in.
"This Mako's got moxy! He advances, fires two quick shots. Yomo is hammered back to zone three! Clock is winding down, can Yomo hold on? He's teetering on the edge of the ring now. The Fire Ferrets line up to strik—"
Before it could finish Tenzin pulled the cord to the radio turning it off.
"Korra come down here please." Tenzin said as Korra popped her head down.
"You shut it off at the best part!" Korra said climbing in.
"I thought I made myself clear. I don't want you listening to this distracting nonsense." Tenzin said.
"But it's their radio. And technically, you said I couldn't watch a match. You didn't say anything about listening to one." Korra points out.
"Ugh you know what I mean. Shouldn't you be in bed?" Tenzin asks as Korra walks away.
Walking to her room, she passed by the kitchen and heard a whistling noise.
"Huh?" Looking inside she saw Koji pouring himself a cup of tea from a kettle before sitting down.
"Ah this is the life." Koji sighs eating some sweets and reading his book alongside it.
"Amazing, you're Tenzin's assistant and you seem to be able to deal with all his rules and strictness." Korra said walking in.
"It's because I have more practice. You've only been here for a few day. I've been coming here for years plus he's family so I know how to get on his good side." Koji said holding up the plate of sweets for her.
Smiling Korra takes one and sits down. "So what do you suggest? How do I survive him?"
"Take a note from your airbending training. Be patient and wait for the right moment to get him to listen to you for a change." Koji suggests.
"You sure that will work?" Korra asks.
"Trust me. Just try and be like the leaf in the wind." Koji said.
"Alright." Korra sighs before eating a sweet. "You know I'm glad you're sticking around for this one."
"Someone's gotta be around to bail you out of trouble Avatar." Koji smirks.
"Oh thanks." Korra said causing him to laugh.
The next day, Korra was meditating with Ikki, Meelo, Jinora and Tenzin but Korra was having trouble.
"I think I'm doing it wrong." Korra sighs opening her eyes.
"There's nothing to do. Let your mind and spirit be free, for air is the element of freedom." Tenzin said causing Korra to chuckle. "Something funny?"
"Yeah, you're telling me to embrace freedom, but you won't even let me listen to the radio. And forget about leaving this island." Korra said.
"Please Korra, look at Meelo he's not having trouble." Tenzin points to his son when Korra notices him snoring.
"Actually I think he's asleep." Korra said.
"What? Oh well at least he has the relaxing part down." Tenzin said.
"Whatever. None of this airbending stuff makes any sense to me." Korra said.
"I know you're frustrated, but these teachings will sink in over time. Then one day, they'll just click." Tenzin said.
Korra takes a deep breath and mediates for a few seconds. "Yeah it's not sinking in. I'm gonna go get a glass of Lychee juice." Korra said getting up.
"Korra the mediation's not over yet!" Tenzin said.
"Daddy can I have some Lychee juice too?" Ikki asks.
"No." Tenzin said as Ikki frowns and Meelo falls over in his sleep.
"Oh boy." Koji groans watching all this.
That night, Korra waited for the White Lotus guard to move before leaping out the window and running towards the beach.
She was about to leave the island when Koji tackles her and pins her to the ground.
"Going somewhere Korra?" Koji asks as she looks up.
"How did you know?" Korra growls.
"Because I know you." Koji said letting go so she could get up. "Airbending is also about patience which is what you suck at."
"Hey I don't suck!" Korra said but Koji raises an eyebrow.
"Yes you do. This is why it's so hard for you because you refuse to take your time and listen." Koji said.
"And what makes an expert on patience?" Korra asks.
"Hmm let's see. Oh right I babysat Meelo, Jinora and Ikki all the time, I've been Tenzin's council assistant for years and let me tell you those meetings are a snooze fest for a little kid and most all my best friend is you." Koji said poking Korra in the chest. "So yeah I know a thing or two about being patient."
"Alright, I get it." Korra said annoyed.
"Ugh sometimes I wonder why I keep hanging out with you?" Koji groans pinching his nose.
"Because you love spending time with me." Korra smirks.
"Korra." Koji glares.
"Koji please I'm begging you just let go see a Probending match." Korra begs putting her hands together.
"Korra as a White Lotus I am bound by a code to never let you out of my sight." Koji said causing Korra to groan. "So I guess you'll just have to take me with you." Koji smirks causing her to smile.
"Oh thank you!" Korra said hugging Koji.
"Yeah I know I'm awesome." Koji chuckles.
"Alright hold onto my waist." Korra said as Koji wrapped his arms around her and she waterbended them to the Probending arena.
When they were just under the building Korra noticed an open window and grins before throwing Koji through it.
Acting quickly Koji fires a small blast of air before he hit the wall and landed on the ground just as Korra jumped in.
"You could have warned me you were gonna do that." Koji glares.
"Oh like how you warned me when you tackled me on the beach?" Korra smirks.
"I am gonna get you for this." Koji said standing up.
"Oh stop whining we're in." Korra said.
"I could have bought us tickets you know. Unlike you I actually have money." Koji said as Korra walked into the gym.
"And I just saved you some so why don't you calm down?" Korra said.
"Hey! What are you doing in my gym?!" An old man with a towel around his neck asks walking in, this was Toza.
"Oh uh sorry we were just looking for the bathroom." Korra said.
"The old "I have to pee" excuse. I am getting really sick of you kids sneaking around so you can make out." Toza glares.
"What?" Korra and Koji said looking at each other before back at him.
"You think that we're that she's?" Koji blushes.
"Oh no he is not my—"
"There you are." A guy with black hair in a red probending uniform said walking in, this was Bolin. "I've been looking all over. It's cool Toza, they're with me."
"Whatever I got work to do." Toza said leaving them to lift barbells.
"Right this way folks." Bolin said.
"Thank you." Korra said.
"No seriously, thanks." Koji whispers as Bolin led them away.
"What do you think? Best seats in the house." Bolin said opening a door and they were in the Fire Ferrets corner right in front of the arena.
"Unbelievable." Korra said.
"Sweet." Koji said when two guys walked in.
"This place is more amazing than I imagined." Korra said.
"Names Bolin by the way."
"Korra and this is Koji."
"Psst Bolin." Turning around Bolin saw a guy with spiky hair looking at him. This was Mako, Bolin's brother.
"Yeah?" Bolin asks walking over.
"We talked about this. You gotta stop bringing your crazy fans in before matches. Get them out of here." Mako said.
"Aw come on Mako I already told them I could stay. Besides I think that girl might be something special." Bolin whispers before turning to them. "Hey I want you guys to meet my brother Mako."
"Hey I heard you on the radio." Korra said.
"Look I'm really sorry about coming in unannounced." Koji apologized.
"Come on Bolin, we're up." Mako said ignoring them.
"Good luck." Korra said as the Fire Ferrets went out.
The Probending match consisted of a Water, Fire and Earthbender on each team and whoever has the most members at the end of each round wins it, but if you can knock all the members out in one round you automatically win the match.
At first, the Tigerdillos had the Fire Ferrets on the ropes. Mostly because their waterbender Hasook kept messing up but in the end Mako managed to take out all the members and win the match.
"Whoo! Yes! One more win and we're in the championship!" Bolin said walking up to Korra. "So what did you think?"
"What did I think? What did I think? That was amazing!" Korra said excited as Mako and Hasook walked over.
"You did more harm than good out there. You almost cost us the match." Mako said.
"We won didn't we?" Hasook said annoyed.
"Barely." Mako said.
"Get off my case!" Hasook said slamming his helmet to the ground before leaving.
"Useless." Mako growls.
"Hey uh those were pretty cool moves Mr. Hat Trick." Korra said.
"Oh you're still here?" Mako asks.
"Oh you're still a jerk?" Korra smirks causing Koji to chuckle.
"Ouch." Bolin said.
"Anyway I've been immersed in bending my entire life but I never saw moves like that, think you can show me a few tricks?" Korra asks.
"Absolutely." Bolin said.
"I don't know, this girl is a pretty lousy learner." Koji smirks.
"What? No I'm not." Korra said.
"You can't even learn airbending." Koji said.
"Ha ha real funny." Korra glares.
"Airbending but isn't she wearing water tribe clothes? I thought she was a waterbender." Bolin said.
"You're right I am. And an Earthbender and a firebender." Korra said.
"I don't get it." Bolin said still confused.
"You're the Avatar and I'm an idiot." Mako sighs.
"Both are true." Korra said.
"Alright have fun. Be back in 2 hours or Tenzin will notice." Koji said walking out.
"You're not staying?" Korra asks.
"One of us has to cover for the other and no offense but I would rather not go back the way I came." Koji smirks.
"So what's the deal with that guy?" Bolin asks.
"Oh nothing Koji's just my friend but he always acts all mature." Korra said.
"He has to if he's always hanging around you." Mako said.
"Shut up." Korra said.
The next day, Tenzin, Meelo, Jinora and Ikki watch as Korra tried to spinning gates again but was getting knocked around like a ragdoll.
"Korra be patient!" Tenzin calls out but when Korra gets knocked to the middle she starts firebending destroying the entire training exercise. "That was a two-thousand-year-old historical treasure. What is wrong with you?!" Tenzin snaps.
"There's nothing wrong with me! I've been practicing just like you taught me, but it isn't sinking in, okay? It hasn't clicked like you said it would!" Korra said frustrated.
"Korra, this isn't something you can force. If you would only listen to me." Tenzin said.
"I have been! But you know what I think the problem isn't me it's you! You're a terrible teacher!" Korra snaps before walking away.
"Yeah you're a terrible teacher daddy!" Meelo said while Jinora and Ikki comforted him.
As Korra stormed off she came face to face with Koji who had his arms crossed.
"What was that?" Koji asks.
"Koji I'm not in the mood." Korra said trying to walk past him but Koji stops her.
"Too bad. You don't talk to people like that and you don't just destroy things when you're angry." Koji said.
"Hey this is all Tenzin's fault." Korra said.
"Oh shut up!" Koji said annoyed. "It's not Tenzin that's the problem it's you. You're acting out because for the first time since you've been the Avatar something isn't easy for you and you're angry about it."
"Yes! Is that what you want me to say Koji? I hate that I can't do airbending and it's so annoying!" Korra said.
"Newsflash Korra not everything is easy! Most people need to work hard and bust their asses to get good at something. If you would just calm down and listen for once." Koji said.
"I have done enough listening." Korra said walking away.
"Dammit Korra." Koji growls when suddenly his eyes glowed red for a second.
"Such a waste of power. She doesn't deserve it." A dark voice.
"She's such a pain." Koji said.
"You shouldn't be waiting on her hand and foot you deserve so much more." It said.
"Just back off." Koji said.
"You would do so much better with that power. Take it from her and be better than she ever was." The dark voice said.
"Me? Be the Avatar? N-No that's not right." Koji hesitates.
"She is reckless, childish and unworthy. You are disciplined, mature, you've worked hard your entire life to be who you are. What has she done?" The Dark Voice said.
"S-Shut up! Koji snaps as the red goes away and he calms down.
Walking into the kitchen Koji pours himself a glass of water and chugs it down before holding his head in pain.
"You okay Koji?" Tenzin asks.
"I should be asking you that. I tried knocking some sense into Korra but she wouldn't listen to me." Koji said as Tenzin walks over.
"I'm sorry." Tenzin said.
"That girl never listens to a single thing I say and ugh it drives me crazy." Koji groans.
"Koji why don't you call Asami and go into town tonight?" Tenzin offers surprising him.
"Really? You'll let me?" Koji asks.
"I think after today we both need a little something to calm down." Tenzin said.
"Thanks Uncle Tenzin." Koji said giving him a brief hug.
That night at dinner, Tenzin and his family were sitting down for dinner.
"Koji go out again?" Pema asks.
"Yes, I let him. Like me, Korra has him at his wits end." Tenzin sighs.
"Tenzin she just needs her space." Pema assured.
"You two must promise me to never be like this when you get older." Tenzin said looking to his daughters.
"I will make no such promise." Jinora said.
At the probending arena, Koji was at the front when Asami pulls up in her moped.
"Hey there." Asami smiles when she notices the look on his face. "What's wrong? Aren't you happy to see me?"
"Extremely. I'm just really stressed. I've been trying to help Korra train to be the Avatar but she never seems to listen to what I have to say. I want to be her friend but she realize what I have to do." Koji sighs.
"Well that's her loss. I appreciate what you do." Asami smiles holding his hand. "What do you say we go inside and I try to turn that frown upside down?"
"I don't know. That's gonna be a challenge." Koji said when Asami leans in and kisses him on the lips. "Mmm you might be onto something."
"What do you say we head to our private box and see if this works?" Asami winks as she led him inside.
Walking to their box Koji sat down in his seat but Asami however walked over to him and sat bridal style in his lap.
"Best seat in the entire arena." Asami smiles.
"Just don't expect me to come with cupholders." Koji jokes causing her to giggle and kiss him again.
Meanwhile up in the Fire Ferrets locker room, Korra walks in to see Bolin and Mako with sad expressions on their faces.
"I didn't miss your match, did I? You guys look like you lost already." Korra said.
"We might as well have." Bolin said.
"Hasook's a no-good no show." Mako said when the ref pops his head in.
"You got two minutes to come out ready to play, or you're disqualified." He said before leaving.
"Well, there goes our shot at the tournament ... and the winnings." Mako said.
"Can't you ask someone else to fill in?" Korra asks.
"Rules say you can only play on one team." Bolin said.
"Well how about me? I'm a top notch waterbender if I do say so myself." Korra offers.
"But you're the Avatar, isn't that cheating?" Bolin asks.
"Not if I only waterbend." Korra said.
"No way. I'd rather forfeit than look like a fool out there." Mako said.
"Gee thanks for the vote of confidence." Korra said.
"Times up, you in or out?" The ref asks.
"We're in!" Korra said excitedly.
"We are?" Mako asks.
"Yes!" Bolin said.
"Hey I didn't agree to this!" Mako said as Korra ran to the lockers.
"You can thank me later." Korra said.
"This girl is crazy. That Koji must be a saint to be able to put up with her." Mako said.
"Looks like the Fire Ferrets have ferreted out a last-minute replacement. Let's see if she's another diamond in the rough like the brothers from the school of hard knocks!" Shiro Shinobi said as they stepped out to the arena.
"Boy they really kept us waiting." Asami said.
"Yep." Koji nods.
"Don't do anything too fancy or aggressive. In fact, don't do anything. Just try not to get knocked off the ring." Mako said to Korra.
"You got it captain." Korra said fixing her helmet.
"Players, are you ready?" The ref asks blowing the whistle starting the match.
Almost immediately, Korra fires a blast of water knocking a Platypus Bear member over the side causing everyone except Korra to cringe.
"Whoo! Man overboard." Korra cheers.
"Fire Ferret waterbender, penalty! Move back one zone!" The ref said.
"What? Why?" Korra asks.
"You're only allowed to knock players off the back of the ring! Not over the sides." Mako said.
"Oh. Whoops." Korra said as the member she knocked over gets back up and Korra moves back a zone.
"And we're back in action after that hiccup, but I'm not so sure this replacement player knows what she's doing." Shiro said as the match started but when Korra leaps to dodge an attack she lands on the line.
"Foul! Over the line! Move back to zone three!" The ref said.
"Ugh! I'll show you over the line." Korra growls moving back.
"Wow this new member is terrible." Asami said.
"Tell me about it." Koji said as the Platypus Bears win round one and they begin again.
"The Platypus Bears take round one! The Platypus Bears know a green player when they see one, and they are focusing the brunt of their bending on this poor girl!" Shiro said as they all focused their fire on Korra.
Growling Korra earthbended the disks to give her some cover shocking everyone.
"Uh foul…I think." The ref said confused.
"Wait a minute! Did that waterbender just earthbend?" Shiro asks getting everyone's attention, especially Koji's.
"Oh no, please tell me that's not who I think it is?" Koji asks as Asami looks to him and they both jump out of their seat and ran to the edge to see the arena.
"You gotta be kidding me! She's the Avatar, folks!" Shiro declares causing Koji to groan.
"Ugh Korra why do you keep doing this?" Koji groans.
"That's the Avatar? First the arrest and now this? No wonder you were so stressed." Asami cringed.
"Ugh it's gonna take more than doughnuts to get her out of this one." Koji said getting a headache and holding his head.
Asami looks to Koji and cups his cheek. "Looks like the Avatar might need saving. Go ahead." Asami said surprising him.
"Are you serious?" Koji asks.
"As a White Lotus you have to keep an eye on her. Besides, I'm sure we'll figure out a way you can make this up to me." Asami teases.
"I love you." Koji said kissing her on the lips and she happily kisses back. "Anything you want, I'll do it."
As he runs out Asami smirks. "Oh I am gonna enjoy this."
Running out the door, Koji sees Tenzin making his way in.
"Uncle Tenzin?" Koji said surprised.
"Koji perfect timing. I might need some backup." Tenzin said grabbing him by the sleeve.
"You heard the broadcast too?" Koji asks.
"She is in big trouble." Tenzin growls.
Back in the arena, the ref walks out having made a decision.
"The Avatar will be permitted to continue so long as she only does waterbending." He declared causing the other team to groan.
The bell rings and the match resumes, but the Platypus Bears wouldn't stop.
"This girl may be the Avatar, but she's no pro-bender and the Platypus Bears are intent on exploiting that weakness. She's giving it her best but her best isn't enough." Shiro said as Korra tried to dodge but they blasted her off the arena and into the water below. "Aaaand she's in the drink!"
Swimming to the edge, Korra gasps for air to see Koji and Tenzin looking down at her.
"Hey Tenzin, I thought you didn't come to these matches." Korra cringes as Koji helps her out of the water.
"Really Korra? Watching a game is one thing, but being in it?" Koji asks.
"Once again, you have flagrantly disobeyed my orders. You were to stay on the island! Let's go." Tenzin orders.
"No. I'm in the middle of something." Korra said.
"Please, the way you were playing? You weren't much help." Koji said.
"Better than Tenzin's stupid airbending training. I am not going back to meditating about how bad I am at airbending. I think the reason I haven't been able to do it is because I don't need it!"
"What?! That is a ludicrous suggestion! The Avatar needs to learn airbending! It's not optional!" Tenzin said.
"No this is what I need to learn! Modern styles of fighting!" Korra said pointing the arena when Koji pushes her making her fall into the water again. "Hey! What the heck is your problem?!"
"You are the problem Korra! I am so tired of hearing you whine and complain like a baby. Whaa I can't airbend, I don't know how to sit still and breath whaa." Koji said mimicking baby crying.
"Oh like you can do any better?" Korra mocks.
"Korra if you knew half the things I do you would shut up right now. For once stop charging in like an idiot and be patient, listen, think. Then you might actually be able to do some airbending." Koji said.
"Wow." Tenzin said surprised.
"Koji." Korra said as he yanked her out of the water.
"Now get your ass up on that arena." Koji points.
As Korra made her way up Tenzin looked to Koji who was breathing heavily.
"Sorry Uncle Tenzin, I really lost my cool back there." Koji apologized.
"Say no more. Let's just go." Tenzin said as the bell rang.
"Round two goes to the Platypus Bears! Round three!"
All six benders were back in position and the Platypus Bears go on the offense.
"The Platypus Bears come out of the gate and quickly go after the Ferret brothers! They're corralled in the corner, wedged in the edge of zone one, unable to come to the Avatar's rescue! And boy, does she need it!" Shiro said as the waterbender forced Mako and Bolin into a corner while the fire and earth bender went after Korra.
Nearby Koji and Tenzin made their way towards the exit when they noticed Korra get knocked back to zone 3.
"Dammit." Korra said when she remembered what Koji said.
"For once stop charging in like an idiot and be patient." Koji said.
"Looks like it's all over." Shiro said as a disk flew towards Korra.
Taking a deep breath Korra do some airbender movements and dodges the attack.
"Hold the phone! Stop the presses! She's still in the game, folks! And she's moving like an entirely different player! All of a sudden, the Platypus Bears' strikes are only striking air!" Shiro said as Koji and Tenzin looked to see Korra moving just like an airbender dodging all the attacks.
"I don't believe it." Tenzin said.
"She's doing it." Koji said as the Platypus Bears start to get worn out from all their attacks.
"The Platypus Bears have no juice left, but Mako and Bolin are still fresh and juicy!" Shiro said as the three Fire Ferrets launch their attacks knocking all the members into the drink winning the match. "Knockout!"
"Whoo!" Tenzin and Koji cheer before Koji pauses and looks to his Uncle who adjusted his suit.
"Pretend that never happened and you can go on another date whenever you want." Tenzin bribes.
"Done." Koji said.
"The Fire Ferrets come from waaay behind and steal the win! What an upset, folks! The rookies, Avatar in tow, have nabbed a place in the championship tournament! I can not believe it!" Shiro said as the crowd cheered.
"Well what do you know." Asami smiles clapping her hands. "Koji sure has some interesting friends."
That night at Air Temple Island, Tenzin and Koji were walking in when Korra caught up with them.
"Hey wait!" Korra said as they turned around. "I'm really sorry about everything. You were right Koji I was frustrated and I was acting like a big baby taking it all out on you guys."
"I think I owe you an apology too. I was trying to teach you about patience, but I lost mine." Tenzin said.
"No hard feelings?" Korra asks.
"I don't know. You were a jerk." Koji smirks causing Korra to giggle.
"By the way, you were really good out there tonight. You moved just like an airbender." Tenzin said.
"Wait, you guys stayed?" Korra asks.
"Yep probending turned out to be just what you needed." Tenzin said.
"Even if you snuck behind our backs to do it. If you tried listening to me more you might have better luck with airbending. I know a thing or two from watching Jinora, Ikki and Meelo." Koji said.
"Somehow I doubt that." Korra said.
"Oh yeah." Koji looks to the gates and smirks. "If I can prove to you, I can help you with this you have to get down on your hands and knees and apologize to me."
"How are you gonna do that?" Korra asks.
"Korra let me show you something." Koji said leading them to the repaired gates. "Tenzin I need some wind."
"What?" Tenzin said surprised.
"Koji you can't possibly be thinking of trying." Korra said.
"I want you to see what you can learn by training with Tenzin. You think I hung out during all the training over the years to be a good friend?" Koji smirks as Tenzin made the gates spin. "Watch and learn."
Korra and Tenzin were shocked to see Koji leap in and spin through the gates like an airbender and leap out the other side.
"Boom!" Koji said causing Korra to drop her jaw in shock. "I believe you owe me an apoogy."
"Wha? Tenzin?" Korra asks hoping for help.
"A deal is a deal." Tenzin said.
Groaning Korra got down on her hands and knees in front of Koji. "I am sorry for being a sore loser, a lousy friend and a selfish avatar."
"Apology accepted." Koji smiles helping her up. "It is not easy being your friend."
"Oh one more thing. I kinda permanently joined the Fire Ferrets and we're competing in the tournament in a few weeks! Bye!" Korra said running off leaving Tenzin groaning.
"Oh Korra." Koji sighs.
