Aurora entered her suite with a heavy sigh. All she could think about was the paper that was due, and how she hadn't even started it yet. As she began to remove her shoes she noticed a certain brunette asleep on the common room couch. Aurora walked up to her and shook her lightly.
"Beatrice, wake up." Aurora said softly. Beatrice began to stir.
"Wake up." Aurora repeated herself but this time a bit more forcefully. Beatrice opened her hazel eyes to look up at her cousin.
"What is it?" She asked irritably.
"You're in my spot- besides, it's not good for you to sleep on the couch. You'll mess up your neck." Aurora smiled slightly.
Beatrice sat up. "What time is it?" she asked, scratching her head.
"It's almost 9 o'clock. But never mind that, guess who I ran into today?"
"Who?"
"Guess!"
"Rory, you know I hate guessing games- hell, you hate guessing games!"
"Fine- but you're no fun. "
"Neither are you, my dear cousin. I mean, look at what you're studying…rocks!"
Aurora scowled lightly. I guess it is "make fun of Aurora's major" day. "Ha ha very funny, but at least I'm studying something useful. What are you studying again? Oh wait I forgot, you decided that marriage was more suitable for you."
Beatrice smirked. Oh, so we really are doing this right here and right now? If there was one thing that Beatrice absolutely loved it was engaging in a contest of wit with Aurora.
"Hey now, nothing wrong with that. How does the saying go? 'Different strokes for different folks': you chose to slave away reading books and burying your head in dirt. I chose the easy life and married my beautiful Spaniard husband and spend my days on the island of Ibiza."
Aurora sighed "Speaking of your husband, why are you still here? I thought you were going to leave this afternoon. You know you can't stay here, you're starting to annoy my roommates."
"He's at a conference in Australia and I opted not to go. And I don't care about your roommates, don't you miss me?"
"No, I think distance would be better for us. After all, distance makes the heart grow fonder."
Beatrice smiled like a cat. "You are full of shit. Well, going back to the topic at hand, who did you run into today?"
Aurora glared and replied shortly, "I saw Wyatt today."
"Did you really? I haven't seen him in so long!"
"Yeah, I saw him with his friend. You've visited the UK more than I have; do you know anyone by the name of Draco Malfoy?"
"Yes, quite a handsome fellow- he's Lucius and Narcissa's son."
"I don't know who those people are."
"Well, you should! They're really good friends of your parents!" Beatrice tutted. "Honestly, Rory, you should really keep track of who's in your parents' inner circle. Everyone is well of aware of who you are, but you haven't a clue on who they are. One day you're going to offend someone. "
"First off, I highly doubt that, they don't even know what I look like. And secondly, how is that my fault if I hardly visit Europe? Granted, I go once a year and that's only for Christmas and New Years and it's not even consecutive years!"
"It's not like anyone is stopping you from going, dear, you just choose not to go. It's really strange."
"How is that strange?"
"Your whole family lives there, but you rarely go visit them."
"Hey, do you see them visiting me?"
"Your brothers…"
"Yes, a while ago, but now they rarely come."
Aurora was now beginning to get irritated, and Beatrice immediately picked up on it, so she decided to change the subject. "So, why are you asking about Draco Malfoy? Did you meet him?"
"Yes I did, we actually went out for a cup of coffee after we had dinner with Wyatt."
A scheming smile played at Beatrice's lips. "What do you think of him?"
"I honestly don't know, I barely know the guy, I just met him today." Aurora moved to sit on the couch.
"You went to have a cup of coffee with him and you have no opinion about him whatsoever?" Beatrice asked skeptically.
"He seems nice." Aurora shrugged.
"What is he doing here anyways- shouldn't he be in Britain?"
"He told me that he wanted to complete his medical studies here in the States."
"So he's studying abroad."
"Yes."
"Funny, I always thought he would continue his studies over there."
"I guess he wanted a change of scenery. Now get up- or better yet, leave. I need to work."
Beatrice groaned as she lazily dragged herself from the couch. "Why can't you work at a desk like a normal person?"
"Why can't you sleep on a bed like a normal person? Or be with your husband like a good wife should?!"
Beatrice shot her cousin a light glare. "Fine, then I'll go to uncle Gavin's house. At least my presence will be celebrated there."
"Ha! Please, Aunt Celeste was so overwhelmed with joy about you getting married and finally leaving that she actually allowed us to skip piano lessons!"
Beatrice stuck her tongue out at her cousin and with a light pop she Apparated to her childhood home.
"Finally, now I can work in peace." Aurora shook her head, pulled out a piece of paper and began to write her paper.
