I'm back for another chapter. I really hope you are enjoying this crossover. It's my first time attempting a crossover, and I'm considering doing a Wheel of time fanfic as well between Lan and Moiraine in the future when I am done with this or one of my other open fanfics. I have between three to four I am currently actively working on at the moment so please bear with me. Thanks.
Moiraine awoke upon yet another morning. Sun rays filtered in through the half window towards the ceiling, leaving little beams of soft warmth reaching for the walls opposite her. She could feel herself getting weaker. Her strength wont last much longer and she very well may die. She knew this, but she still couldn't understand how she had gotten to where she is now. The last thing she could remember is releasing a huge burst of power and the building falling all around her, only to be shielded at the last moment by Lan... he covered her body with his protectively as a ward does.
Gods, she missed him. His company, companionship and his awful sense of humor. She could feel him getting closer to her. At the speed he is going he should arrive most likely by tomorrow or the next. It still may be too late. The thought made Moiraine shudder. If this was it, so be it if its the will of the wheel. Moiraine sat up in bed, and felt a tinge dizzy, but she just waited for it to pass before continuing. Her feet touched the cold cobblestone floor and she looked over to see a small potion on her bedside table. Severus must have left it for her. She drank it without question and felt a warmth wash over her. Moiraine brushed her hair and put it up in a bun before darning her blue robes and exiting out the room and up the stairs to where she was shown to take her meals.
Several others sat at the large table in the back of the large airy room. stars glittered across the ceiling and they seemed to glint and move as shooting stars crossed it. candles floated above her, lit as several large windows behind the table let in the warm morning light. An older woman with emerald robes stared as Moiraine approached the table, passing the other 8 tables that were turned sideways to the main table, empty as they were, they were set.
Moiraine stroked her blue ring thoughtfully as she sat beside the woman, Severus on her right and the woman on her left. The woman outstretched her hand towards Moiraine. "Minerva, pleasure to meet you." Moiraine looked down at her hand. What a strange gesture. She thought before doing the same, and Minerva took her hand in hers.
"Moiraine Damodred." Minerva released her hand and smiled at her. Moiraine could feel her energy. It wasn't one of the wheel, but she was surely powerful indeed.
"So, what brings you here? Are you planning on filling the potions opening?" Minerva inquired.
"No. I am waiting on someone and then I'll be leaving one way or another. I must have created a cross dimensional portal when I was fighting the Trollocs unintentionally." She stopped suddenly. Oh gods, I hope none made it through the portal. As Moiraine started to start off into nothing for quite some time, Minerva cleared her thought. Moiraine shook her head as she snapped out of it. "My apologies, I got myself lost in thought."
"Well, you should eat, you must be hungry. You have had quite the adventure so far." Moiraine nodded and smiled sweetly.
"Thank you for your hospitality. If it wasn't for Severus here, I may have been eaten by something in that forest. I more than likely wouldn't even be awake." Moiraine began to fill her plate with some eggs and bacon, both familiar foods. She poured some strange orange drink into her goblet and took a drink before smirking at the pleasant flavor. She looked at Minerva questioningly.
"Pumpkin juice." Minerva supplied. Moiraine made not of this.
"It's lovely. I daresay I'll have to try and recreate this when I return to my world." Minerva looked at her paleness. Moiraine was becoming paler every day and a purple web effect was starting to show above her neck lining of her robes onto her collar bone. sweat beads were forming on her forehead, indicating a possible fever forming. Severus's potion was slowing the poison but it was definitely not a cure by any means. She would need to eat to keep her strength up. Minerva noted that she was boney and slim as it was, let alone if she succumbed to the poison, she wouldn't be able to eat for quite some time.
"Moiraine dear, you should rest while you await your companion. The poison seems to be spreading. The less you move, the better. It could speed the poison along faster." Moiraine smiled at her, the woman barely knows her and yet shows such compassion.
"I'll be sure to take it easy Minerva, but I have things to do as well. If the wheel wills that I should pass here, than I certainly shall." Minerva found this bit about the wheel further confused her. Clearly her culture differed greatly from their own. She really must be from another world entirely. Minerva thought to herself.
Moiraine finished her breakfast and decided to do some reading since she was to be here another day or so. "Where would the library be here? I require somewhere Quite to be." Minerva stood and Moiraine followed suite.
"Follow me, I'll show you." Minerva led the way up the stairs to the massive library on the first floor, just off to the right. "This is the library. There are thousands of books. Is there anything in particular you are looking for?" Moiraine shook her head.
"Not really. I was thinking I'd just browse and maybe do some meditating here. I need to figure out what had happened so we can make our way back when my Ward gets here. He shouldn't be much longer now. Maybe a day at most." Minerva looked a little hurt.
"I was hoping you would stay for a bit, but I understand if you can't. I am so curious about your world." Moiraine smiled.
"You can come with us if you like." Minerva seemed to contemplate this for a bit.
"I'll have to think about it. I have duties here... I am a professor and the head mistress of this school." Moiraine smiled.
"It's alright. It is just an offer and it stands if you choose to come along, but I wont but upset if you choose not to. There is no telling if you would be able to make it back or if I can even recreate the same conditions and get back to where I am from. We could end up anywhere." Minerva nodded.
"Well, I do hope you make it to where you need to be. For your sake. I would hate to wake up to another realm. I honestly don't know how I would react in your situation. You got lucky coming here. You could have ended up so much worse."
"Yes, I agree. Stay with your students Minerva. They need you. I can sense there will be some need for you here in the near future. Keep your guard up." Minerva looked at her gravely.
"How could you possibly know?"
"My gut is never wrong Minerva. Brace yourself for a long battle. You should prepare for your students that arrive today." Minerva nodded and walked away. Moiraine sat down atop a desk, presumably the librarians, and crossed her legs and closed her eyes.
She reached out to Lan. She could see he was closer still, riding most likely. Moiraine could tell he was in a hurry. He must have heard her pleas. Thankfully he made it here with her and wasn't left behind. It may take both of them to reopen the portal. Moiraine began to focus on recalling her memories...
She could see the Trollocs closing in. She could feel the pain searing in her chest where the Trollocs weapon had been just prior. The rage was building inside of her after seeing all the townsfolk needlessly slain. The dragon was clearly worried about the Dragon Reborn being there. Perhaps she was right after all. They began closing in. Moiraine knew she was weak and running low on her powers. She had used so much and was exhausted, but could feel herself becoming weaker by the moment. In one last blaze of glory she released a mass of energy from her hands, causing the building behind her to crumble and the trees to uproot and be thrown in their direction, lightning raining down from the skies in a symphony of glory, frying every single one in sight. She fell to her knees, her energy gone, and she could feel Lan's hand around her and suddenly his warmth on top of her as she felt the ground beneath her. She could hear the building bricks hit the ground all around them, and she could feel the dust flow into the air, making it difficult to breathe. She wanted to save Lan, needed him to survive. Then nothing. The next thing she remembered was waking on the earthy ground in the forest outside of this Hogwarts.
Moiraine sighed in frustration. She was hoping she would be able to recall more than that, but it seems she must have done it subconsciously. Who knows if they will ever make it back, but one thing was clear, her time was running out quickly. She could feel the fever beginning to take her which meant her time was limited.
Lan rode the red Arabian as hard as he could. He knew the horse was tired, but they had to be close. He had the mare jump over the tree roots below as he dodged and weaved in the trees. This forest was huge and he saw so many strange creatures there that weren't in Randland. A clearing formed and he stopped the horse for a break. he tied her to a tree before leaning close to the ground and picked up a long black hair. Smelling it, he felt a glimmer of hope. Moiraine, I'm close. It was her hair. He knew that smell anywhere.
By the wheel he missed her, even though she didn't enjoy a lot of conversation, she at the very least was a good companion. They didn't need to speak in the traditional means anyway, they had a special connection thanks to their binding. Lan quickly remounted and pulled the reins from the tree, and kicked the horse hard. He had him gallop as fast as it would take him. He knew the horse was tired, but Moiraine would be there soon and would be able to rest the horse.
A strange castle came into view within a few minutes and he galloped up to the front of it and dismounted. He opened the doors without hesitation and began to search for Moiraine. He could feel her presence everywhere inside. Severus rounded a corner before he could ascend the stairs. Lan drew his sword quickly before Severus could say a word.
"Where is she?" Severus looked a bit confused and then realization set in... This must be her ward she was talking about.
"I haven't seen her since breakfast." Lan brought his sword closer threateningly. Severus drew his wand and Lan batted it away quickly. Moiraine came running down the stairs quickly.
"Lan, stop. He's a friend." Lan lowered his weapon and Severus let out a sigh of relief." Lan went to her.
"Are you hurt?" Moiraine shook her head and smiled weakly.
"I've been waiting for you. I missed your face." She smiled at him, a hand on either cheek while Lan held her close. Suddenly she fell limp in his arms. Lan caught her and carried her carefully.
"She's been poisoned by a Trolloc. Do you have anywhere she can rest for a while?" Severus nodded and led him to his old quarters where she stayed the last few days. "Thank you." Severus nodded.
"If you need anything, let me know." He said before closing the door behind him. Severus felt a pang of jealousy at how close the two were. As much as she insisted there was nothing romantic about it, he could feel something much closer than he would ever have with her. She put it best, he was just a friend.
I hope you enjoyed. Feel free to review or like the story. Favorite and follow for more of course. I update every week or so. I try to do so more often but sometimes life gets in the way. I am really enjoying writing this so far.
