The entire town was celebrating yet another match won by their favorite High School football team, the Smallville Crows, they talked about how the coach had led the team to an unprecedented record of nearly two hundred won games, something nobody had done in history of their team if not high school football.

The fact is many in the town were either former members of the team back when they were in high school or were and continue to be actual fans of the team, the massive celebrations made this quite obvious, much to the confusion of one Lex Luthor. To him, this barbaric sport was causing more concussions and inflicting brain damage on the students than anything good. The reason Lex couldn't understand is that he never considered playing football at all, he was more into fencing.

Some of the friends of Clark asked him if would he still feel differently if he had grown up in Smallville having attended their local high school, to which he laughed and said that it was possibly true, his opinion might be different, and he could become a football player. if someone had not taken care of the contaminated water and suffered a severe loss of brain cells.

"Look as much as I hate my father, and the feeling is quite mutual, he would have used his entire fortune and influence to either prevent that or have the school closed as a potential harm to their students, so even if Smallville High had been my school, that would never happen, honestly Clark why are you even considering becoming a member of that team? Did you forget that these people crucified you in that cornfield and dared to think it was a harmless prank?"

Lana looked at him with a glint in her eye and asked him why was he so against Clark becoming a jock and playing football, noticing the notebook and pen, Lex asked her if this was on the record for a possible article on the Torch? She nodded her head making him realize that was the case, "Very well, then write this down Ms. Reporter, I happen to consider Clark Kent to be a very good friend of mine, and as a friend, I happen to know that if he showed what he is capable off, he would be number one in every single test, exam, and quiz this place can throw at him. To me, it would be a tragedy to lose that due to something that happened in a football game causing him a brain injury."

One of the friends of Clark accused him of simply hating the game of football, and everything he said was an excuse or a lie to justify it, Lex told him he doesn't need to justify it because what he said is the truth, and if he could Football would no longer exist at all, the NFL would be the National Fencing League, without all those large stadiums it would free up land to construct low-income housing in most major cities. "And you would build them in a heartbeat to be able to charge those poor families that rent, you can say you are doing this out of the goodness of your heart, but we all know the Luthors don't have a heart, they have a cash register."

Lex looked at the obvious football fan and told him, yes, he would do it for the profits, this was America and Capitalism was as American as it can get but his bitter hatred over Football was much deeper than simply because he could make money of the solution to this problem, the damage and misery of many football players could translate to harm done on the human capital of the nation and that translated to him the lower quality of people he could hire for his company and harm to potential clients. "You want to quote me Ms. Sullivan, here is a quote for you, free of charge, I, Lex Luthor fucking hate American Football, I consider it something harmful to not only the people playing but our very nation and I don't want Clark to be anywhere near that fucking thing! You can quote me on that till the sun explodes!"

As Clark heard him say this he tried to pull away Lex from saying anything else about this, which may cause him to be even more hated by the people of Smallville, he told this to Lex as they walked away from the High school into the parking lot where Lex had his limo waiting for him, the only thing Lex told Clark is that Smallville already hates his guts enough that he has to have a full security detail in his home, nothing he said would change that, Clark asked him what does he mean by that?

"Clark you think this little town is all peaceful and calm, but ever since I took ownership of that crappy factory my dad sold me, I have been receiving death threats on a daily and hourly basis. I couldn't be more hated if I suddenly said that every man in Smallville plays the Banjo, drinks moonshine, and loves to fuck their sisters, cousins, and even their mothers to the point of calling them all inbred. I honestly don't because first I don't think that and second I would not insult people like that, all I mentioned is that I am morally horrified by what that thing you call a sport is doing to the youth of our nation. You know that I have always been for the advancement of the human race, and this is not helping."

As he got into his vehicle Clark told his friend that many people love the sport commonly called American football, and to this, as the vehicle was ready to drive away he told Clark that many people also loved the Gladiatorial Games in the Roman Empire, but even those Gladiators would consider the stuff kids suffer in the game he just mentioned to be too barbaric for even their liking. "I will see you later Clark, maybe you can help me get your father to trust me a little bit, I am still trying my best to get him to let me invest in your family farm."

Clark saw the limo drive away and wondered why did Lex come in a Limo to his high school, he does own a car, till he remembered that his car was still being repaired after what happened thanks to the accident due to that loose barbwire roll falling off the transport truck.

The article came out the next day and made many of the people in Smallville angry, many asked him why would he say something so awful about the sport they loved so much, Lex didn't raise his voice once, he didn't let himself be angry even as some people insulted him time after time until he simply told them that he was not alone in this opinion, and mentioned to them how many Hall of fame players had openly testified before the congress of the dangers of CTE and the injuries Football as a game causes on the players. He brought them inside one of his business presentation meeting rooms and began to show them video after video that what he said was true, even though many refused to believe any of it, some did.

One of the people that was reading the article had been Clark's father he was holding it as he told Lex to come into their kitchen so they could discuss his supposed business proposal. Lex managed to talk with Martha when she had gone to try and get a new loan from the local bank, which is where Lex heard as he was updating the security information on his account, in his words better be safe than sorry.

"First I got to say I am really surprised to hear that you are against my son joining the football team, mind if I asked why is that?" Lex told Jonathan that Clark was not only his friend, but also from a business perspective, he told Jonathan that with sufficient education and effort, Clark could be a wonderful addition to the personnel that leads his new company he even confessed that he would want him to become his Vice President in the future, but that can't happen if Clark suffers needless head injuries.

"It is always business with you Luthors, why am I not surprised, guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree. Very well, since you asked my wife to ask me to at least listen to your deal, why don't you tell me what that is about?"

Lex took out several folders with papers and handed them to Jonathan and Martha, and told him that he was not concerned or insulted for Jonathan only spoke the truth, he was a businessman, "Over sixty percent of all corn production in our country at one point came from this state and most of it from the farms on and around Smallville, the problem is that the farms didn't stay competitive, and didn't have the money to upgrade and improve their equipment, which is why so many farms are currently up to their necks in debts, I met your wife as she went to get her third loan, what I proposed is that you let me invest in your farm, I will take up the cost of upgrading all your equipment and renovating your irrigation system. I also propose we instead of selling all the corn, we used a lot of it, in something else, Ethanol production, a new renewable fuel. Don't worry the stuff is not hard to produce, it was once called moonshine, so trust me, this fuel is nothing new, but this will make your farm a lot more money than you can at the moment, as for me, all I want is a percentage of the profits as your investor, nothing more and nothing less, and you can say I am trying to pull a fast one on you like my dad, but I have been nothing but upfront with you, as the parents of my friend Clark."

Martha looked at Lex and she only had one question, why would he do so much for them, Lex was quiet for some time as he put his thoughts together and took a sip of the lemonade that Martha had made, "This is delicious, so as thanks I shall answer with brutal honesty, your son saved my life and is my most important friend on the entire world, so if I offer to invest is to help my friend true, but as your husband said deep down I am a businessman at heart, you may not trust me, but trust this, this deal is far too important for me to let it fail. So I shall leave you the papers that explain my deal and business plan for your farm, you can do it with me, or use the information I left and try to do it by yourselves, either way, I will help my friend, Clark, thank you very much for the lemonade, your time and hospitality, and I await to hear about what you decide later."

Jonathan told him that he did trust Lex, but once bitten twice shy, he had to make sure everything was on the up and up, and deep down he felt like he didn't want to seem weak by asking people to help him solve his problems, so he never accepted help from others or want to drag others into his family's problems, to which Lex told him as he left, that even if he lost all the money he invested, it would be worth it since he could at least know he helped his friend and his family, Lex told him there is strength in numbers, and helping each other was not only smart but the right thing to do as he walked towards the door.

As Lex left the home of the Kent family, he finally went back to his home but there was someone there who he was not expecting, the man looked like he was past middle age, and he was wearing a jacket with the emblem of the Smallville Crows on the back, seeing the man Lex got out of his car, and he walked over to him, "Sorry to keep you waiting for Coach Arnold, yes, I know who you are, most of the people in Smallville do, I went to have a lovely meeting with the parents of my good friend Clark, I even learned to make some rather tasty lemonade, you seem to have something to talk with me about, why don't we discuss it while having some lemonade in my office. No need to be angry coach, I made my opinion known so of course I knew you would want to lecture me on why is it I am wrong, I welcome an intellectual discussion, come on, we can discuss that inside my home."

The coach most of the time tries to remain pleasant and not do something to tarnish his image, it could affect negatively the impression people have of him and the team, causing many people not to come and see the games. The way however that Lex spoke of his beloved sport was not making it easy, he was boiling with anger, but he tried to calm down as much as he could, he was almost tempted to cause the limo Lex had arrived in to explode by causing a fire in it, roasting him like the pig he was.

"Have to tell you, Coach, I got to say I am loving the way that those clothes look, absolutely perfect, for a Heavy Metal concert, I hear that some people think painting flames on a car makes it go faster, but you took that idea and went the whole nine yards with it, there is not even a single piece of your clothes that is showing that doesn't represent some the very concept of fire, and you are pulling this off, by the way, how is the lemonade?"

Walt finally realized that he was inside the house already, and indeed he was having a glass of what seemed to be fresh lemonade, Walt told Lex that it was very refreshing, and oddly enough sweet and had a pleasant taste, "The stuff you are drinking was not made by me, yes I learned how to make it, but that stuff was made by Martha Kent, you might know her, she is Clark's mother, very nice lady. Now I have to tell you that you are overreacting, did you honestly come here to try and kill me because I hate American football? Cause what I said is backed by a ton of neurosurgeons and people who have studied the damage caused by the repeated concussions football players suffer, do you like soccer?"

Walt told him no he didn't like it at all, to which Lex told him exactly is like a man trying to kill him for hating soccer which is a sport so widely loved that multiple nations compete in something called the World Cup. "To be perfectly honest I hate your beloved sport as it is right now, but wouldn't you know it, my company and hundreds of other companies are working around the clock to make better gear for players, gear that will prevent any brain damage, and when that gear is finally perfected, I will happily sit down with my friends to watch Monday Night Football like everyone else, with the satisfaction that nobody is going to suffer life-threatening injuries because of it. When it is finally safe for all the players, you better damn believe I will be able to watch it, and finally be able to enjoy it, guilt-free."

The Coach couldn't believe what he was hearing this, he had sad stuff that made him so furious that he focused on killing the fool that dared to besmirch the dignity of his beloved sport, he wanted to kill the principal for all the players that got suspended for their failing grades, he wanted to kill that stupid kid and destroy her little school newspaper that published the crappy interview with Lex, but hearing Lex made him think about this somewhat, as he took another sip of his lemonade.

"I am also asking that if College Football makes the coaches money, and even the universities, that those that play should receive a good salary, just as any professional football players get, my company legal division is lobbying and offering political donations to make those law happen, so in truth, I am not eliminating football, I just want it to be safe and doing my best to ensure the future of the players. If anything coach, you should be thanking me. When that gear is finally made, and people hear of those laws, more people will consider becoming football players to be an actual profession and not just a hobby, that should make you happy."

"I hate to admit it, but you made several good points, you were articulate, and those ideas were honest and well thought out, but that doesn't change the fact that you did say that in my school paper, which means I hate you, and I am here to burn you for what you did, you burned my sport, and so I shall do the same with you, except in your case it's more literal, don't bother calling your bodyguards, you are not even an ant compared to me, I have power and no amount of money will save you from my wrath."

Lex had to tell him he was very disappointed in him, he actually thought that if he got him to focus on him and avoid causing harm to so many other people, they could sit down and talk things out like civilized people, instead he is accepting his reasons, but still plans to kill anyways, "So what do I call you exactly since you are doing something so personal as to kill me inside my own home?" Walt was quiet for a second as he scratched his chin almost like he was doing something others would consider impossible, thinking.

"Considering that I am going to roast you to ashes, you can call me Pyro, and don't think you are getting away with a merciful death, cause I am going to make sure you suffer before I send you to hell, and there is nobody here that can help you, since you are all powerless feeble losers, compared to me who am a firestorm." Lex had to admit that the way his clothes look at least made sense with what he said but tragically for him things aren't the way Walt thinks.

As he tried to tackle Lex in a way that his flames covered his victim's body, thinking this was simply too easy to do to some spoiled brat who thought too much of himself because of his daddy's money. That was until he heard Lex start laughing as he simply clapped his hands sending a rush of wind that extinguished all the flames on him like nothing happened, his clothes were burned but nothing seemed to happen to Lex at all.

"You think you are so special because you got power, and never once considered that others could have power too, I can stand here all day and night letting you hit me with your flames and it would do nothing but keep me warm in a cold winter night, your flames are useless against me, I heal faster than your flames can burn me, but since you decided to make this an attempt on my life, I say self-defense has been established, so get comfortable Pyro, cause we are going to have fun together, all night long as I use your empty skull as a drum."

Walt looked at Lex who aside from calling him a meteor freak, said that no trust fund brat is going to be able to defeat him, since he was probably weaker than a nerd, and everything he said he was doing was stuff his father was doing and Lex was simply taking credit for it. That was enough for Lex as he punched Walt in the gut making the man throw up everything in his stomach as he was punched yet again to the side of his head, sending him crashing against a wall.

"You think my dad is doing this? Wake up, Lionel helps no one, he only uses people for his own benefit and trust fund. Are you fucking kidding me? Lionel has not given me a fucking dime, He gave me a fucking loan when I bought that shit packing company, and every fucking dime I own I earned. I worked my body till exhaustion while growing up, I learned martial arts most people don't even know about, So just like I said coach, get comfortable 'cause this fight is just getting started and I am not even done with my warm-up, how about you?"

Lex proceeded to continue to fight Walt as he tried time and time again to burn him using his fire powers, but nothing worked, the only thing he got is that every time he tried Lex would give him a new bruise for doing that, it was when the coach was bruised all over and with two black eyes that he finally gave up, promising to confess to the police if he begged him to stop beating the shit out of him, Lex told him he agreed as he waited for the police to come and pick him up.

As the cop entered the place, and saw the former coach tied up, they freed him and the coach immediately tried to play the victim saying that Lex had invited him over with some lies and that he had brutally been torturing him for hours till thank god they came to rescue him, immediately a large monitor display turned on in the wall behind Lex and the video of their entire conversation and what happened began to play, the cops were not happy that the once respected coach of their favorite team tried to lie to them to escape punishment for his crime of attempted murder. They made this clear when they cuffed the man and tossed him into the police car in a rather harsh manner, as the last officer got onboard the car Lex told them that he apparently can generate and control fire so they would be careful, one of the cops told him not to worry they can handle a meteor psycho like the former coach.

The following day Clark saw the news that the retired Coach was arrested and facing charges of assault and attempted murder, not to mention the civil ones to do with arson and destruction of private property, which later were added to his criminal charges by the District Attorney, he decided to visit his friend Lex, and much like he expected Lex was having another day having a practice fight against his Fencing Instructor, the instructor was extremely agile and skilled from the way they were fighting, but Clark was surprised when Lex of all people was having to put some effort in this practice duel.

As the duel ended in a draw, Lex saw his friend smiling as he walked over to him, and with a smile on his face he asked Clark if he needed help with something, otherwise, he had no idea what he owed the pleasant visit by his friend. "Lex I was worried about you since I just heard that my old high school football coach paid you a visit not too long ago, came to see if you were doing alright, mind telling me who is the person that nearly beat you in that duel?"

Lex began to laugh, "There is nothing even close to nearly beat, she would have beaten me a lot faster, but I wouldn't learn from my mistakes if she did, she is my new fencing and martial arts instructor, Ms, Dinah Drake Lance, if I am lucky she will accept to eventually be Dinah Luthor, but as it stands my chances are very low." That is when Luthor heard the other person laugh in a very sweet and almost seductive tone as she took off the fencing helmet and revealed her beautiful face and long lustrous blonde hair.

She tossed her helmet at Lex who caught it, "I told you once and I will tell you a thousand times, any man that even thinks about dating me, had better prove that he is tougher than I am, otherwise I might unintentionally hurt him." Clark's only comment was that was a very Amazon attitude about it, to which Dinah smiled as she began to walk away telling them both she considered that a compliment.

Another blonde woman came towards Lex and smiled, "Thanks Dinah for taking over my training lesson for Lex in fencing, and sorry my training session with you Lex was canceled I'm glad Dinah was able to take my place, I had to attend a doctor's appointment, as for you Lex, why did you flirt with my friend here? Are you trying to make me feel jealous? She then turns to Clark and says I am Avalon Heike Pendragon but everyone calls me Heike, So Clark, Lex has told me and his other wives a lot about you."
