DarkFoxKit: Okay, we've got another chapter up. And oh boy, it's starting to get hot these days. Let's hope our air conditioner doesn't break down again.

ZAFT: I'd hate to be like that. My parents grew up without AC… ^^' But yeah, it's getting warmer here too. ^^'

DarkFoxKit: Summer is probably my least favorite season since I've been out of school. It used to be my favorite because it lets me out of school for a good month or two. But these days, it's just hot, muggy, and full of bugs.

ZAFT: Same here. I'd like to be a young kid again so I could look forward to summer once more. ^^'

DarkFoxKit: Or, you know, be able to go to a beach or something. But money costs are too expensive. But at least we're having fun writing. … Uh… ZAFT, have you seen Andy and Takuya?

ZAFT: Um… I think they went to a water park. I found a note from Andy about that…

DarkFoxKit: Without us!? I'm gonna have words with those two when they get back!

ZAFT: Uh… On to the chapter then! ^^'

Chapter 36: The Ghost of Technology

Andy wasn't sure how to describe the feeling he was feeling as he was riding on Airdramon, heading to the Rose Morning Star. He had Lopmon, Agunimon, Tucker, and Kokuwamon by his side. It almost felt like he was going to war in a sense. He was dreading what was to come, but he was also excited. It was a strange feeling. Perhaps all of his battles with ghosts and Digimon before had made him numb to the fear of battling now, and look forward to it, to test his limits as a human, and how far he and Lopmon could push themselves in a seemingly hopeless situation.

Agunimon looked to be focusing, likely thinking about the battle to come himself.

Tucker was also uncharacteristically silent, almost as if he was also concentrating on the battle to come.

Despite the winds blowing against them, the silence was so thick, it could be cut with a knife.

Finally, Agunimon spoke up. "We… We'll need to be careful against Megadramon!" He said, trying to hide his nervousness at fighting against an Ultimate level Digimon that was part ghost as well. Agunimon could feel his Digi-Core racing in his chest, and it was a very odd, and uncomfortable, feeling.

"If you're discussing a plan, allow me to make things easier for you!" Airdramon spoke up. "This is a trick I learned for the more fragile packages! And this will be easier to do since there's a few of you now instead of a big group!"

Airdramon created an air bubble around Agunimon, Andy, Lopmon, Tucker, and Kokuwamon. "There! You won't have to shout just to talk to each other! Take the time you need to plan things out!"

With the air no longer rushing around them, Agunimon felt he could finally speak normally, which was a relief to him. "Thanks." He said to Airdramon before looking back at Andy, Lopmon, Tucker, and Kokuwamon. There was a clearly nervous look on his face as he did so.

"I know how you feel," Tucker sighed. "I've been trying to keep from freaking out. I don't know, maybe I shouldn't have come. I'm not really a fighter, someone else could've used the FDS…"

"No, Tucker, it's like you said, you and Kokuwamon know how to use the FDS more than anyone else," Andy said. "Even if someone else could get the FDS on Megadramon, it's useless if we don't have you there hacking into Megadramon's system to push Technus out."

"Wow… Way to make me feel better, Andy." Tucker groaned. He wasn't looking forward to the fight, but knowing Andy had faith in Tucker's abilities made the other boy feel somewhat better.

"Did you want me to say you would pull an anime and suddenly digivolve Kokuwamon and defeat Megadramon?" Andy asked.

"I mean you and Sam kinda did…" Tucker pointed out.

"But those were desperate times," Lopmon said. "We're still not sure how we did it. We just felt a surge of power when our partners were determined enough to stop or do something."

"Digivolution is tricky, and it may be different for each Digimon and player," Kokuwamon remarked.

"Who knows? It may happen." Agunimon joked to Tucker before he became somber. "But to be honest, even I'm nervous. I've been trying to hide it but… I just feel like this… I know I said I would come with you guys, but I feel my power may not be enough…"

"That's why we're here, to back you up," Andy said.

"Yeah, I know I can't become an Ultimate level Digimon, but you know how strong I am as Turuiemon. We can do this, you need to have faith in us too," Lopmon encouraged.

Agunimon blinked at Lopmon's words before he gave a small smile of his own. "Yeah, you're right. I guess I do need to have some faith in you guys."

Tucker sighed a little. "Sometimes I wonder though… I know what happened with Desiree got out of hand, but… if I hadn't started turning evil, do you think I would still have ghost powers right now? And I'd be more useful for this fight?"

"You had ghost powers before?" Kokuwamon asked, surprised.

"It was a temporary thing that happened," Tucker answered. "But it was mutating me and turning me evil. I'm glad that we were able to get rid of it before it became permanent, but that's not to say I don't still wish I could have ghost powers."

"Hey, Tucker, Agunimon and I don't have ghost powers either, but we're still able to do what we need to do to fight back," Andy pointed out. "Takuya has Agunimon. I have Lopmon, and you have Kokuwamon."

"Yeah, so don't worry about having ghost powers." Agunimon said as he put a hand on Tucker's shoulder reassuringly. "I've had to fight ghosts without the matching powers, and so has Andy. You have done that too, so you can do much more than you think."

"Don't worry, if we work together, we can get through this." Lopmon smiled.

"Speaking of which," Andy started. "If we do manage to find Megadramon, our best bet is to keep Megadramon distracted enough for Tucker and Kokuwamon to implant the FDS on him. We may not be able to defeat Megadramon in a fight, but we should be able to keep him distracted. Just don't go getting yourself killed, got it, Agunimon?"

Agunimon paled a bit. "Um… right… I think I can do that." He said, trying to keep himself from freaking out. Geez… I know I said I was the stronger fighter right now, but this really makes it much more real and I'm not looking forward to it…

Tucker nodded, though he hadn't completely erased his doubt, which Kokuwamon took notice.

While Andy, Lopmon, and Agunimon were talking, Kokuwamon decided to say something to Tucker.

"I cannot help but notice you're still feeling down on yourself," Kokuwamon remarked. "Would you like to talk about it?"

Tucker frowned. "I… I don't know… It's just… at school, I was always the loser kid. No girls really want to go on a date with me, not even the geeky ones who were up my alley. They all think I'm just a weird techno-geek. Maybe that's all I'm good for, technology. I don't know, I mean I like technology and all… but is that really all I am? A techno-geek?"

"You have proven to be quite the techno geek, which is a good thing." Kokuwamon replied. "But you have been willing to fight against powered foes, which will get any other human who does not know what they are doing killed."

"I guess, but… I've never really stood a chance against those powerful foes," Tucker sighed. "Usually someone else comes along and takes care of them while I'm just in the background, you know?"

"You wish you could be the protagonist of your story instead of a side character, is that right?" Kokuwamon asked.

Tucker sweatdropped. "Way to say it bluntly, Kokuwamon…" He muttered before he sighed. "But yeah… I do. I do want to be more of a protagonist than the sidekick. It always seems the ones with the powers are the protagonists, not the unpowered people. I just want one time to prove that someone like me, someone without powers, could be a hero and save the day for once."

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't ordinary people already proved they could save the day without special powers? Don't you have people in your world who lack such power, but were still able to save others?" Kokuwamon pointed out. "I don't think that's the issue here. You're worried about being seen as obsolete."

Tucker didn't respond to that, because Kokuwamon hit the money right there. The real reason why Tucker had been so jealous of Danny Phantom, it wasn't just because he had cool ghost powers, although that certainly didn't help, it was because Danny was able to save people on a daily basis and look cool while he was at it. He was jealous of the popular guys, because they had everything, attention, girls, teachers getting them out of trouble, the lunch lady giving them fancy food, hand-picked nerds to do their homework for them… it was an unfair system of power.

Takuya had his own kind of power, when he found that Spirit that turned him into a Digimon. Although he was pretty clumsy with it, he had shown he could use its powers effectively enough to defeat ghosts and other Digimon if he needed to.

"But aren't you forgetting some people?" Kokuwamon spoke up, snapping Tucker out of his thoughts. "What about those who don't have powers? What about Andy and Sam? Are they not in the same boat as you?"

"Yeah… they are…" Tucker replied. "That's true… Andy and Sam also lack powers." Tucker felt guilty for forgetting about Sam and Andy being in the same situation as him. "Wow… I got caught up in my own thoughts and feelings I forgot about them being in similar situations as me."

"I don't believe that's entirely true," Kokuwamon said. "You can try to lie to yourself, Tucker, but as your partner, I know that's not how you feel. It's not that you forgot them, you just believe they're becoming better than you. Because Sam is very athletic, and confident in herself. And she was able to get her partner Digimon to digivolve. And Andy had been going straight into battle with Agunimon. You feel that you're the one who's being left behind everyone else."

Tucker wondered just how much Kokuwamon could read about him. It was almost scary. "How could you tell?"

"I know because I feel the same way. I don't like feeling powerless and left behind either," Kokuwamon admitted. "Before you became my partner, I looked up to the Celestials when I heard stories about them back in Primary Village. I wished, one day, to be as strong as them. So I could be important, and others would admire and look up to me. When I finally met you, I was excited that I would get to be strong like the other partner Digimon I've been hearing so much about. But then I saw Biyomon digivolve, and Lopmon as well. I began to lose confidence in myself as I hadn't been much help, to you or to anyone else."

Tucker blinked. "Kokuwamon…" He muttered. He hadn't realized how his partner Digimon had felt when around those who had gotten stronger than him. It made him feel more of a connection to Kokuwamon, and it made him chuckle a bit.

"I guess we're both in the same boat then, huh?" Tucker said with a small smile. "We're far more alike than I realized. Although, I feel like a crappy partner to you since I never realized how you might have felt when you saw Biyomon and Lopmon digivolve."

"It's alright, unlike the others here, I lack the ability to show any facial expressions. It wasn't difficult to hide my true emotions," Kokuwamon answered. "But I wonder… if getting stronger and being recognized by others is the same thing. Lately I've been wondering if maybe… we've been looking at this wrong?"

"What do you mean?" Tucker asked.

"Individuals are good at different things, and have different roles, do they not?" Kokuwamon asked. "I'm not sure myself, but… whatever the answer may be, I want you to know I support you, 100% Tucker. We will try to get stronger, and find our role in this group together."

Tucker smiled. "Yeah, you're right. I may not be the strongest or most athletic, but I am certainly one of the smartest here. I'm sure we'll find our roles soon enough."

Lopmon had been watching Tucker and Kokuwamon talking to each other. Thanks to his big ears, he was able to hear what they were whispering to each other. He couldn't help but give a small smile.

"Heads up! We're closing in on the Morning Rose Star!" Airdramon called to the group. "I'll be landing soon! I don't want to get too close to the player's territory!"

Agunimon nodded. "Right." He said before looking at Tucker, Kokuwamon, Andy and Lopmon. "Get ready, we're going to land." He told them.

"We heard," Andy replied.

Agunimon sighed, feeling nervous. But suddenly, he had a hot flash going through him, then it turned cold. A signal that a powerful ghost was nearby. Agunimon paled, but he didn't have time to say anything, because missiles came out of nowhere, and were coming at them.

There was a sudden silence before there was a loud explosion. Airdramon was hit by the missiles, the group got scattered in the air. Airdramon was falling, one of his wings scattered into data, breaking off from the missile's hit. It all happened so fast and so sudden. Agunimon couldn't hear anything after the explosion except his heartbeat. He saw a large shadow coming down from the sky that had been far above them. It was Megadramon, he had snuck up on them.

Agunimon knew he was falling, but he couldn't do anything to stop his fall. He was not experienced enough with his powers to use the jet feet trick, and he was certainly not tapping that uncontrollable artifact of primal rage, thank you very much! Damn it… Is this it…? He thought, sure his life would end now. We… we didn't even get to try to save that player and his partner Digimon…

Sound began to pick up again as Agunimon heard what sounded like jets heading to him. "I got you, big boy!"

Agunimon let out a gasp when he felt someone grabbing him. "Ugh… could you turn back to human, please? You're really heavy like this and you're dragging my hoverboard down!"

Looking up, Agunimon could see Valerie on her hoverboard. He blinked a few times before he smiled. "Never thought I'd be glad to see your face around here." He said before he grabbed onto the edge of Valerie's hoverboard and pulled himself up onto it. "Sorry about throwing off your balance."

"Whatever, don't worry about that. I managed to find you in that explosion, but where are the others?" Valerie frowned.

"I see them!" Salamon, who was standing in the front of the hoverboard, called out.

Valerie and Agunimon were relieved to see Andy and Tucker were holding onto their respective partners. Lopmon's ears were puffed up like a couple of balloons, while Kokuwamon was using his wings to fly.

"We're okay!" Andy called out. "Valerie? What are you doing here? Weren't you helping look for lost Pagumon or something?"

"I was, but then I saw you guys flying by, and I heard you were going to take on Megadramon, so I followed you!" Valerie called back. "Good thing I did too, or you would've lost armor boy here!"

"But what about Airdramon?!" Tucker frowned.

Agunimon looked around and paled when he saw Airdramon. "There!" He exclaimed as he pointed. "I see him!"

Airdramon hit the ground, one of his wings was gone, the other wing was half gone, and his body had a large hole in it. There was a ring of code around Airdramon's body.

"Oh… no…" Lopmon frowned, horrified. "He was hit directly by that attack…"

"I don't believe he'll last much longer," Kokuwamon grimly reported.

"He… he was hit in… his Digi-Core…?" Agunimon muttered, recalling that a Digimon's Digi-Core was what kept a Digimon alive.

"No, if that was the case, he would've been a Digi-Egg by now," Salamon answered. "The fact that he hadn't turned into a Digi-Egg, and his fractal code is showing means his Digi-Core is extremely weak and vulnerable, but not damaged to the point that he'll be reborn instantly yet. But with how he is now, he could return to being a Digi-Egg at any moment."

"Guys!" Andy spoke up urgently. "We don't have time to worry about Airdramon! Megadramon is coming our way!"

Agunimon and Valerie, as well as Salamon, Tucker, and Kokuwamon, all looked up, seeing Megadramon coming at them.

"Crap!" Valerie swore as she realized this was no ordinary Megadramon. "What kind of Digimon is green like that?!"

"One that's been fused with a ghost!" Andy shouted.

Lopmon didn't know what to do. He and Andy were vulnerable in midair. They were far too high for Lopmon to just drop Andy, but Lopmon couldn't fly, he could only slowly descend right now. They were in trouble if Megadramon decided to go after them.

Tucker frowned. "This doesn't look good. We're like sitting ducks out here!"

"But what can we do? Most of us can't fly!" Agunimon growled out.

Megadramon looked at the group that were in the air and grinned. "Well, well, look at what we have here! After the warm welcome I got from that castle, it stands to reason that if I am to rule this world, I need to get stronger!"

Andy frowned when he heard this.

"Perhaps if I can take out and absorb the ghost boy that's been giving me problems, I'll be able to get even stronger!" Megadramon announced gleefully, although that was definitely Technus talking, he aimed both of his arms at Andy and Lopmon. "So don't go flying away!"

Valerie was very confused, and very worried when she saw the big monster was aiming for Andy, who was very vulnerable in the air.

"Crap!" Valerie swore as she saw where Megadramon was headed. "He's going after Andy!" She gunned her hoverboard and began to fly directly for Megadramon and his targets.

"Don't get reckless!" Salamon warned. "Agunimon, attack with everything you've got!"

Agunimon knew he didn't have time to hesitate.

"Geoncide Attack!" Megadramon fired dozens of organic missiles from his mechanical arms.

Taking no time to hesitate, Agunimon took action. He hoped he would be able to at least deflect some of the missiles away at the very least. He jumped off the hoverboard and got in front of the missiles. I hope this works… I can't lose Andy! Agunimon thought before he felt this power rush through him, a new power he had never felt before.

"Plasma Sphere!" A transparent reddish-orange orb appeared around Agunimon as he called forth the energy from within his Digi-Core.

Andy and Lopmon gasped as the missiles hit Agunimon and the sphere he created. The force of the explosion sent Agunimon into Andy and Lopmon, knocking all three of them down from the air. Agunimon, despite being disorientated from the explosion, knew if he didn't do something fast, Andy and Lopmon were going to be crushed into the ground.

Dread filled Agunimon as he realized there was only one way to save himself, Andy, and Lopmon. He didn't want to use it, he really didn't, but there was no other choice. Of all the… this day had better not get worse… Agunimon thought before he closed his eyes as he let out a shaky breath. Well… here it goes… I'd better be able to control this thing… I hope…

Agunimon reached into his Digi-Core and felt it, that primal power just laying next to it. He tapped that primal power, and then he felt the rush of energy flood his body. Fractal code surrounded him. "Slide Evolution!" Agunimon felt his body changing, becoming more draconic. Bright orange wings grew from his back as a tail formed from the base of his spine as well. The fractal code dissipated, revealing the Beast Spirit form of BurningGreymon. "BurningGreymon!"

"He actually turned into BurningGreymon!?" Tucker yelled in alarm.

Andy and Lopmon were no longer being shoved by the falling Agunimon or the Plasma Sphere, which gave Lopmon enough time to grab onto Andy's hand and inflate his ears once more before they could hit the ground, though the momentum was still making them fall pretty quickly, Lopmon was trying to slow their fall down desperately. Andy knew he had a double whammy, he was falling to his death, and now his cousin is the out-of-control beast flying just inches away from him and Lopmon.

Maybe Danny should've been the one to come after all. Facing Jazz and this 'boyfriend' of her's couldn't be as bad as this right now! Andy gulped.

However, BurningGreymon didn't attack Andy, instead turning around and reaching out to grab Andy and Lopmon to keep them from falling to their deaths. It was clear it was Takuya who was in control for the moment, but it wasn't guaranteed he would be in control for long.

Huh… we're not dead yet. Maybe this is a good thing. Andy noted, though he was pretty terrified that a giant dragon was holding him and Lopmon in its claws, he was trying his best to not freak out.

BurningGreymon flew Andy and Lopmon down to the ground before setting the two of them down gently.

Then, the fractal code surrounded BurningGreymon, revealing Agunimon when it dissipated. Agunimon fell to his hands and knees, shaking slightly. "That was… way too close…" He muttered.

"You were able to catch us and not try to burn us alive," Lopmon noted. "Does that mean you were able to control your beast spirit?"

"No… I was just… I was trying to not attack… It… It's hard to explain… but… you were in danger so…" Agunimon trailed off, unsure of how to best explain it.

"What was that!?" They heard Megadramon shouting in Technus's voice. "I must have that power!"

There were more explosions in the sky.

Kokuwamon quickly began flying down while holding onto Tucker, he couldn't keep Tucker up in the sky, it was far too dangerous. Valerie and Salamon were keeping Megadramon distracted, so that gave Kokuwamon the time he needed to land.

"We have to find Andy!" Tucker frantically said. "He could be in trouble right now!"

"Shh!" Andy shushed when he ran over to where Tucker and Kokuwamon landed. "Are you trying to give us away?"

Agunimon, who had followed Andy, gave Tucker a sheepish grin. "Sorry for the scare back there… I… didn't know what else to do…"

"Oh gosh, I'm just glad you're all okay. I was worried that…" Tucker frowned. "Nevermind. What are we going to do? Airdramon was shot down, none of us can really fly, and… well, not fly and be able to possibly not lose control. And Valerie may not last long up there!"

"But why was he after Andy back there?" Lopmon questioned. "That Megadramon wanted to take out the 'ghost boy', then he aimed for Andy. Why? Andy isn't a ghost, and even if he was, why would Megadramon feel like taking him out would make him stronger?"

"Those are some good questions, Lopmon," Andy agreed, though he knew why Technus thought he was Danny Phantom, he didn't know why Technus felt the need to take him out, or… "Why does he want to get stronger? He said something about having a 'warm reception' at a castle, right?"

"He must've been talking about the Rose Morning Star. That's the only castle that is in this direction." Agunimon realized. "Technus must've encountered some of the players who took down Cherubimon."

"That's what I thought too," Andy admitted. "The fact the players there were able to chase Megadramon away, even though he seems to be stronger than a normal Ultimate Digimon due to his ghost powers, is troublesome."

"Why? Isn't that a good thing?" Kokuwamon asked.

"Because it means one of two things. Either the players were strong enough to easily drive off a half ghost, half Digimon hybrid, which means we are likely not going to be able to take them on any time soon ourselves. Or Megadramon is dying, weakening him to the point of not being able to take on multiple players and their Digimon at once," Andy explained. "Which means we don't have much time to save the man and his Digimon."

"Then we need to act fast if the second scenario is what is going on." Agunimon realized. "But how can we? Megadramon is much stronger than anything we've faced."

"If you had full control of your Beast Spirit, you may be able to challenge him while the rest of us try to separated Technus from the Digimon and the man." Lopmon frowned as he crossed his arms, trying to think. "But that isn't possible right now…"

"He seems to be after me, thinking I'm the ghost boy," Andy noted. "So that means I'm likely going to be used as bait."

Agunimon actually grew pale in the face. "Andy, wait! A-Are you sure about that? I mean, you could get hurt or worse!"

"Agunimon, don't patronize me," Andy snipped, surprising Agunimon.

Andy gave a sigh. "Sorry, but you telling me that I could get hurt, or worse, is patronizing because look at the situation we're in. And look at what almost happened earlier. Do you really think I wouldn't know what would happen if I used myself as bait to draw Megadramon's attention? We're past that point of 'getting hurt or worse'."

Agunimon slowly nodded, realizing Andy was right. "Yeah… Sorry, Andy… I'm just… worried about you…"

Tucker was surprised at Andy's response to Agunimon himself. While he understood that Andy was likely stressed from the situation, it wasn't like him to suddenly be snippy like that, especially to someone who just saved his life. Lopmon didn't appear to be surprised, he looked like he was waiting to hear what Andy planned to do.

Tucker realized something. Andy was always putting himself in the frontlines despite his ordinary human nature. Even though Sam usually had no issues with joining in a fight, she usually didn't just take the frontlines herself like Andy would. Tucker may not be able to read Andy's mind, or understand how Andy thought half of the time, but he wondered if Andy had a similar issue that Tucker had, and he was expressing it in a different way. Tucker frowned, wondering if Andy could be… jealous of his cousin and brother's power, just like Tucker? And unlike Tucker, Andy was exposed to it every day at home, and wherever he went. It must be painful being the only ordinary one in the family, feeling like he couldn't do much due to his human nature.

"I have Lopmon with me," Andy pointed out. "If things get too dangerous, Lopmon would be able to digivolve and keep me safe. Keeping Megadramon distracted is the best way to keep him from noticing Tucker, so Tucker can shut him down."

"I… I get it…" Agunimon sighed. He was just worried about Andy, and he felt bad for patronizing Andy. "Then I guess I'm helping Tucker?"

Tucker paused. It sounded like a plausible plan, though Andy was always good at making what sounded like a crazy and dangerous plan sound good and logical, to the point that it was almost scary. Tucker wondered if Andy was even aware of what he was doing himself.

"Hold on," Tucker spoke up. "Andy, can I talk to you for a minute?"

"I don't know if we have a minute. Valerie's only going to hold Megadramon off for so long." Andy frowned.

"It's important," Tucker insisted. "I'll be quick, but I really think you should hear what I have to say."

Andy looked up at the sky for a moment and frowned. "Fine. What is it?"

"I understand that you want to try to keep Megadramon distracted so Kokuwamon and I can get the FDS on Megadramon, but don't you think you're being a little too reckless?" Tucker pointed out. "I'm sure there's something else we can do that wouldn't put your life in danger. You can have Lopmon digivolve, and have him fight with Agunimon to distract Megadramon, and you can help me get the FDS on Megadramon."

Andy frowned. "How do you know that Megadramon won't see us? The second he sees me, he'll try to attack me, and that'll also put you in danger. And with how strong Megadramon is, how long do you think Agunimon and Lopmon would last against him?"

There it was, the words Andy used, the words that made Tucker start doubting himself. But Tucker had to stop and think for a moment to realize a hole in Andy's logic. "If you think Lopmon and Agunimon won't be enough, then how would you being the bait be any better?"

Agunimon could see Andy and Tucker talking, but he didn't want them to take too much longer. He wasn't sure how long Valerie could hold off Megadramon.

"If anything, you're just putting yourself in needless danger," Tucker continued.

Andy paused, he knew Tucker was right, but… "I can't just sit by and hide. Not when I can do something about it. I'd be no better than the people who run away screaming whenever they see an object floating in the air."

Tucker picked up on it, Andy's comment about how running and hiding made him no better than the average person who would be scared of a ghost. There was nothing wrong with being afraid of a ghost, but the way Andy said it, it was like an insult to him, like someone was telling him he was nothing but a useless coward.

"Andy… I think you've been hanging out with Danny and Takuya for too long," Tucker pointed out. "I know you don't want to be reminded of it, but you're only human. I know you have Lopmon, but you can only do so much. If you keep taking the risks you've been taking, eventually your luck will run out, and you'll get yourself killed. You're smart, Andy, you should be able to see what you're doing isn't good for you, or anyone."

"We don't have a choice," Andy argued.

"You're wrong, we do have a choice!" Tucker countered. "There are more options we have, you're not alone here. I know… being an ordinary human sucks, especially when your family is a family of geniuses and superpowered people. But remember what happened to me because I wanted to be the hero? To have powers?"

Andy frowned, he remembered that all too well. "Is that… what's happening with me now?"

"You may not be making any wishes to a twisted genie, but you are going out of your way to do something Agunimon or Da- someone else should be doing," Tucker pointed out. "You're human, you have to remember your limits."

There was another loud explosion in the air. Valerie's hoverboard was seen flying towards the ground somewhere. Though it wasn't going at a fatal speed, at most, Valerie and Salamon would have some cuts and bruises. But that meant nobody was keeping Megadramon busy anymore.

"Time's up, guys!" Agunimon said seriously. "Either we handle Megadramon now, or he gets away again!"

"Where are you, ghost boy!?" Megadramon shouted. "Or that big dragon I saw earlier!"

Andy took a moment to take a breath and let it out. While being the bait still crossed his mind, he couldn't deny that Tucker also had a point. This wasn't the time to be playing the hero. This wasn't about him.

"What do we do?" Lopmon worriedly asked.

"The best thing we can do," Andy replied. "We fight back."

It was such a straightforward plan that Agunimon wondered if Andy just gave up.

"We… fight?" Agunimon asked, surprised. "You're serious about that?"

"You don't want Megadramon to get away, right? And you don't want him to go chasing after me, thinking I'm the ghost kid, do you?" Andy asked in a serious tone. "Then we stand our ground and fight!"

Agunimon blinked, but realized Andy had a point. Fighting was the only option now. The Legendary Warrior nodded. "Right. That we can do."

Tucker nodded as well. "But we need to get him down on the ground if we are to have a chance of fighting back."

"You leave that to me…" Valerie grumbled as she found the group, her suit was torn a bit.

Salamon shook her head, having a few burn marks on her fur.

"Are you okay, Salamon?" Lopmon asked in concern.

"I'm fine… Aside from being shaken up, I'll be fine." Salamon replied. "Falling from the sky is never fun though."

"But it's not the first time we did, and it probably won't be the last," Valerie sighed. "Thankfully this suit is very good at protecting me from a lot of falls and attacks."

"You're kinda crazy, aren't you?" Tucker deadpanned.

"Now's not the time,' Valerie hissed before she summoned a couple of shoulder guns from her suit. "You better be ready for a battle, because once I fire this into the sky, that's going to get that abomination's attention."

Agunimon, Andy, Lopmon, Tucker, and Kokuwamon all nodded.

"We're as ready as we're going to be, I guess." Agunimon said with a sigh before he got into a fighting stance. "Just get that thing down here so we can take him out before he messes with the Digital World any further."

Andy gave a nod, and Valerie nodded back. "Alright, then here goes nothing."

Valerie shot out two bright lasers into the sky.

Megadramon let out a roar. "I SEE YOU! Trying to take me out while I was flying, eh, ghost boy!? Well I'll be sure you won't be a match for the new and improved Technus! Master of the Digital World, destroyer of data, and now a Megadramon!"

"Does he do that a lot or did the fusion scramble his… um… not-brain?" Valerie grumbled.

"This ghost does that a lot, it's not anything to do with the fusion." Tucker sighed. "But you have to admit, Technus's shouting out his motives is an advantage for us."

"Not if I don't understand it. Why does he keep shouting 'the ghost boy' and looks at Andy?" Valerie frowned.

"He thinks the ghost boy looks like me," Andy answered.

"Why would he think that?" Valerie questioned.

"This isn't the time for questions, Val, he's coming," Andy pointed up.

Megadramon was indeed heading for them. He quickly landed in front of the group. Lopmon, Salamon, and Kokuwamon quickly got in between Megadramon and their partners, ready to protect them.

"If you want Andy, you'll have to go through me!" Lopmon shouted.

"Not to mention me!" Agunimon growled in agreement. "I won't let you get to either Andy or Lopmon!"

"We have a bunch of loud mouths here!" Megadramon growled. "No matter, for soon you won't be able to say anything anymore! Then those stuck up punks at the castle will have to respect me!"

"Is that what this is about? To get back at the people who beat you up?" Valerie deadpanned.

"To show I am stronger than them! And to defeat all my foes! I will become the strongest in this world!" Megadramon snarled out. "For that is my destiny as I am Technus, master of all things digital and beeping!"

"This guy hasn't changed, even as a Digimon…" Agunimon muttered under his breath.

"That may be good for us, because we know how much he loves talking about himself," Andy noted as he looked over at Tucker and Kokuwamon.

Since Megadramon was here, it was too dangerous to try to say anything to Tucker, so all Andy could do was look at him and hoped Tucker knew what he needed to do when the time came. Tucker looked at Andy, he was nervous, but he also nodded. Andy chose to have this battle for a reason, despite knowing it was one they couldn't win, it was the best way to keep Megadramon distracted without putting Andy into more needless danger.

Megadramon floated up a little. "Well soon you won't be talking so much anymore!"

Instead of using a digital attack, Megadramon fired ghost rays from his hands this time at the group. Lopmon and Salamon shielded themselves as they took the attack, though the attack hurt a lot.

"Ugh! That's painful!" Lopmon groaned.

"That was… a ghost ray?" Valerie frowned, confused.

"He can use ghost powers too," Andy warned.

Agunimon tensed up. He knew personally how being on the receiving end of a ghost ray felt. "We have to keep moving so we don't get hit." He instructed. "If we stay in one place, Megadramon can shoot at us all he wants. Moving targets are harder to hit."

"You may think so!" Megadramon laughed. "But there's only so much you can dodge, especially if I combine my attacks with my Genocide Attack!"

Megadramon held out his mechanical hands at the group.

The group paused in worry, if Megadramon used his Genocide Attack now, they would all get blown to pieces, especially with how close he was.

Andy pushed down his fear, knowing he had to do something. He had to remember, this was Technus, and he believed he was Danny Phantom, he could use that to his advantage. Time to bluff my way out.

"Oh, that's a shame," Andy said, trying to sound bored. "I thought you'd want to play the game to make things more fun. But I guess an old ghost like you who's outdated from what's in right now wouldn't understand."

Agunimon blinked at Andy's comment before he actually had to bite his tongue to keep from laughing at how much Andy sounded like Danny in his ghost form. The quip sounded so much like something Danny would say. Dang it, Andy! You really have to keep the quips down!

Megadramon seemed to shake with rage at Andy calling him old and outdated. "What was that, ghost child? I'm far more hip and up with the times than you think!"

Valerie still didn't understand why this ghost thought Andy was the ghost boy, it bothered her, but she could see Andy had a plan, so she stayed quiet.

"Come on, why do you think I haven't used my ghost powers on you yet?" Andy chuckled. "It wouldn't be any fun to just end things here and now. If you use such big attacks on us now, I'm gonna have to use my ghost powers to block your attacks, and then take you out of the Digimon and suck you into a Fenton Thermos. It'll be that easy."

Megadramon hesitated, as if considering Andy's words to be real. It had to be real, why else would the ghost boy not be using his ghost powers?

Tucker was trying to keep a straight face, he really was. It was just too funny to see Andy tricking Megadramon into believing he was Danny.

The Digimon partners, and Valerie, weren't sure why Andy was saying he had ghost powers, but they could see that it was throwing Megadramon off.

"Let me tell you something, ghost child! I am as hip and as cool as they come! I will play your game of not using ghost powers, and I will win! You hear me!? Do you think your little tiny group of monsters will be able to take me out?" Megadramon laughed.

"Well, I guess we'll see, won't we?" Andy grinned. Good, looks like it worked. That should buy us some time.

Agunimon gave a grin and a thumbs up to Andy, showing he approved of Andy's plan. Nice! Now the fight will be more even.

Tucker gave a grin of his own. That's using your head, Andy! That's what I like to see!

The group got ready to fight against Megadramon. Agunimon hoped this would be easier now that Megadramon wouldn't be using his ghost rays or other ghost powers.

Lopmon smiled, seeing how his partner was able to come through for them. Now that's the Andy I know!

Despite that, however, they were still dealing with an Ultimate level Digimon, and they were currently at Rookie level, except for Agunimon. Lopmon hasn't been able to digivolve yet, but he hoped that he would be able to when they really need it.

"Because I am so cool, I will allow you to make the first move! So don't go and waste it!" Megadramon announced.

Agunimon knew someone had to make the first move. He took a shaky breath before letting it out, knowing if someone was going to make the first move, it had to be the strongest of the group, and since that was him, it fell on his shoulders to make that move. Okay… here we go… He thought as he stood his ground, preparing to make his move.

Andy looked over at Agunimon, waiting to see what he would do.

Agunimon held out his fists before slamming them together with a shout, creating a spark from his silver wrist braces. Fire then flared around his fists before he launched the fireballs at Megadramon. "Pyro Punch!"

"Attack! Everyone!" Andy called out just as Agunimon landed his punch on Megadramon's chest.

"Blazing Ice!" Lopmon fired out an icy wind from his mouth.

"Puppy Howling!" Salamon shouted as she gave a high pitched howling noise in Megadramon's direction.

"Power Surge!" Kokuwamon shot out an electrical attack at Megadramon.

Tucker, realizing this was a good opportunity to try something out, took out his PDA. He put a chip into his PDA and started scanning Megadramon as the attacks all hit.

Agunimon wasn't done yet though. He then flared more fire from his left silver wrist brace for his next attack. "Pyro Darts!" The fiery darts hit Megadramon after passing through the smoke left by the first round of attacks.

Let's see if I can find Megadramon's weakness… Tucker thought as he scanned Megadramon.

Kokuwamon had been his only test subject for the scanner, so he wasn't sure how well it would work for an Ultimate level Digimon, let alone a hybrid between Digimon and ghost, and maybe human if Tucker was counting the man who got absorbed. The picture that showed on Tucker's screen showed that the PDA was having trouble identifying the creature before him.

Megadramon let out a laugh as he swatted Agunimon away with his tail. "Was that all you had? I guess it's my turn!"

"Mega Death Scythe!" Megadrmon's claw created a large scythe, and he slashed down, easily cutting through the trees.

"Move!" Lopmon shouted.

Everyone quickly scrambled away, not wanting to get hit by that blade.

"What's the matter, ghost child? Is this too much for you?" Megadramon taunted.

Agunimon felt something inside him pulsate, and he knew it was his Beast Spirit wanting to be used, but he didn't want to take that chance. He instead forced that primal urge down and ignored it. "No, we're just getting started!" He exclaimed, fire flickering from his armor.

Megadramon laughed again. "Then come at me! I am way too cool and hip to be beaten by you! I will clean your clocks like the weaklings you are!"

Valerie ran to the side, summoning her shoulder gun and firing the ecto beams at Megadramon's side. Megadramon let out a cry of pain, flinching away.

"I knew it. Ghost weapons are effective on you," Valerie noted.

"So it looks like your ghost weapons are the only thing in our arsenal that can truly damage Megadramon," Salamon noted.

Agunimon overheard that and felt a pang of envy rush through him when he heard that news. But he shoved it aside. This is not the time for being jealous! We have a fight to pull off!

He refocused on Megadramon, but he was wondering if his abilities would really be enough against this ghostly Digimon hybrid.

Tucker frowned as he saw the screen of his PDA was not showing the information he had been hoping to see. "Darn it! It looks like the scanner still needs some work… I can't get much information on Megadramon or his weaknesses."

"That isn't quite true," Kokuwamon said. "You identified the being using Megadramon's body as 'Technus' correct? You had fought with Technus before, correct?"

"Yeah… But I need to know where Technus is hiding in Megadramon. The fact he is a ghost inside a Digimon makes it much more difficult to find out where he is." Tucker replied. "This is not like with a human, where the ghost can just overshadow their body completely."

"That isn't the problem," Kokuwamon said. "You're overthinking it. It does not matter where the ghost is. The Foley Data Scrambler is supposed to paralyze the body, and potentially expose the fractal code of the Digimon. What matters is getting the Foley Data Scrambler on him in the first place. You know how Technus thinks, therefore, you know what some of his weaknesses are already."

Tucker realized Kokuwamon was right. "You're right… We can use those weaknesses. Technus likes to reveal his plans, and he loves to try to use 'hip' and 'cool' phrases! We could use that against him."

Megadmon whipped Andy and Lopmon into a tree, both of them groaning.

We're lucky this isn't Spectra… with how disorganized we are at the moment, we would be easy pickings for her… Andy groaned when he noticed Agunimon was starting to take more potshots at Megadramon whenever Valerie fired her ecto weapons at him.

It looked like Agunimon was trying to make this into a competition with her, although Andy couldn't be certain. What Tucker had told Andy earlier did affect Andy more than he let on. He hadn't really noticed it himself until Tucker pointed it out to him. How he was putting himself in such a dangerous position, and how he didn't like seeing himself as being just human.

Lopmon stood up, covering his body with his ears in an attempt to defend himself, and Andy, from another attack. Megadramon was firing a couple of missiles at Agunimon and Valerie while he tried to whip Lopmon with his tail again. Lopmon managed to stand his ground this time, but still, taking a hit from an Ultimate level Digimon was taxing.

"Andy…" Lopmon spoke up, still trying to keep his guard up. "You're doubting yourself. I can feel it. I think… the reason why I haven't been able to digivolve lately is because… you're doubting yourself. I can't get any stronger like that. What's wrong?"

Andy was surprised to hear that. He frowned. "This… probably isn't the best time to talk about it…"

"If I can't digivolve, then we're not going to get anywhere," Lopmon pointed out. "Please, if you need to talk to anyone… then talk to me. I may not be Danny, but… I'm your partner. Please, talk to me, Andy."

Andy looked down.

Meanwhile, Tucker was trying to find a way to get his FDS onto Megadramon. But every time he and Kokuwamon thought they found an opening, Megadramon would just fire more missiles, or swing his tail. There was also that scythe claw that Tucker really didn't want to get sliced in half by.

"It's no good, we can't get any closer to him!" Tucker groaned.

Agunimon was knocked right in front of Tucker and Kokuwamon.

"A-are you okay?" Tucker asked in concern.

"You took a big blow there," Kokuwamon noted.

"Ugh… I'll… I'll be fine…" Agunimon groaned out as he stood up. He did get to his feet, but it was clear he was getting some damage to his armor, and there was even a nasty looking cut on his upper right arm. "But it's… it's not going so well. We need that FDS thing planted on Megadramon, like now."

"But that's just the problem! When we try to get close, Megadramon just counters us!" Tucker groaned. "Not to mention even if we were able to get close, it's too dangerous. That scythe he has… heck his entire body is a weapon! I don't know what we can do… I…"

Tucker frowned. "I'm sorry I've been so useless…"

Agunimon looked back at Tucker. "Useless?! What are you talking about? You pretty much saved Shamanmon when he was possessed by BurningGreymon's Spirit by forcing out his fractal code! How are you useless if you did that?"

"But I can't do anything here!" Tucker pointed out.

"No… that's not true, there is something you can do…" Agunimon said as he looked at Tucker in the eyes.

This might be our best option… a very risky option, and I definitely don't like it, but… Agunimon took a deep breath and let it out. "Do you think you'll be able to do that again?"

"Do what again?" Tucker asked.

"Forcing out BurningGreymon's Spirit," Agunimon answered.

"What? Why would I do that?" Tucker blinked before it clicked. "You're not… are you?"

"We're too weak to take on Megadramon as we are now. He's too powerful, and Valerie's ghost weapons, while they are hurting him, aren't doing much to him either," Agunimon stated. "If we're to truly stop him, we need someone who can fight on his level, that way you and Kokuwamon would be able to get close enough to plant the FDS on him."

"But what if you lose control?" Tucker asked worriedly.

"That would be ill-advised," Kokuwamon agreed.

"That's why I'm asking you for your help," Agunimon explained. "If I start to lose control again, you'll have to force the spirit out of me to change me back."

"That was with Shamamon though, I don't know if it would work on you," Tucker pointed out.

"It's better than just me going nuts and attacking everyone else." Agunimon countered. He then sighed. "Look, just… just help me with this, okay? I know it's risky, but what other options do we have? I'd rather use that Spirit and risk going out of control than let this world fall apart because of Megadramon/Technus."

Tucker frowned, but he knew Agunimon was not about to change his mind. Finally, after a few moments of silence, Tucker nodded. "Okay… I'll… I'll do my best."

"Gah!"

They heard Andy and Lopmon yelling out.

They turned to see Megadramon had Andy and Lopmon wrapped up in his tail, keeping the two trapped.

"Looks like I've got you now!" Megadramon grinned before he looked at Valerie. "Aww, what's the matter, sweetheart? Too afraid to fire at me in fear of hurting your friend here?"

Valerie was indeed more afraid of hurting Andy than missing Megadramon. It was one thing to hurt a ghost, but a Digimon fused with a ghost was even worse. And with Andy and Lopmon in the crossfire, she didn't trust her aim to be on target due to her worry for Andy.

Agunimon growled as he gritted his teeth, revealing his sharp canine teeth in his anger. "Looks like it's now or never, Tucker." He said.

Kokuwamon was very worried, but he didn't say anything.

"Go for it," Tucker said. "I'll stop you if you get out of control." I hope.

Agunimon nodded and gave a grin before fractal code surrounded him. "Slide Evolution!" The code then dissipated, showing BurningGreymon once more. "BurningGreymon!"

BurningGreymon's blue eyes glinted dangerously. Takuya was currently in control, but he could feel his control was slowly beginning to ebb away. He had to finish the fight quickly before he went too far into that primal rage.

"It was you who was that dragon!?" Megadramon looked at BurningGreymon in shock.

"Andy… look… it's BurningGreymon," Lopmon said, though he and Andy were still tied up.

Andy frowned, seeing that his cousin decided to use BurningGreymon after all.

"Come on, bring it on then! Unless you're afraid of hurting these small fries~" Megadramon grinned, holding Andy and Lopmon in front.

BurningGreymon's eyes narrowed slightly, but he didn't just charge straight in. Instead, he flared his wings and then pushed off the ground, gliding around behind Megadramon. The cannons on BurningGreymon's arms swung around and into firing position before he let loose. "Pyro Barrage!"

Megadramon hadn't expected BurningGreymon to attack him from behind, and so quickly. Megadramon let out a yell as he was bombarded by the barrage of fire. Andy and Lopmon yelped as Megadramon's body was flung away from the attack.

Lopmon bit down as hard as he could to try to get the stubborn ghost Digimon to let them go. Megadramon glared as he looked at BurningGreymon.

"You may be a problem…" Megadramon growled.

Megadramon held out both of his arms at BurningGreymon. "Genocide Attack!"

Megadramon fired countless organic missiles at BurningGreymon, though while he was doing this, he was so focused on attacking BurningGreymon that his tail loosened a bit. This allowed Andy and Lopmon to slip out of his grasp.

BurningGreymon aimed his cannons at the missiles again and fired off more fiery bullets from his Pyro Barrage attack. This caused a large explosion of fire and heat to emerge, which barely missed Andy and Lopmon.

Lopmon and Andy managed to get far enough away from the two Digimon to stop and watch.

"Two giant monsters, fighting… we are definitely not meant to be here…" Andy groaned. "If Megadramon hadn't loosened his tail when we did… we might be a couple of barbecue steaks right now."

BurningGreymon glanced over with one eye, seeing Andy and Lopmon were safe. With that in mind, BurningGreymon then flared his wings and pushed off the ground once more, getting right in Megadramon's face very quickly before he grabbed the ghostly Digimon in his grasp and slammed his forehead into Megadramon's face, essentially headbutting the ghostly Digimon.

Megadramon used his scythe claws to slash at BurningGreymon as he headbutted him. The scythe managed to scratch BurningGreymon's armor, but this only made BurningGreymon angry. He grabbed onto Megadramon's neck and slammed him down into the ground.

"BurningGreymon is… way… way stronger than Agunimon," Lopmon noted, shivering a little. "He's taking on Megadramon like nothing."

"This isn't good," Salamon said.

"He's winning though, isn't that good?" Valerie questioned.

"Remember, Takuya hadn't learned how to control his Beast Spirit yet," Salamon reminded. "He's already starting to lose himself, I'm afraid of what will happen if he gets too angry."

Valerie grew pale in the face. "Did… Did Takuya even think this through then? Is he aware he may lose control?"

"I'm sure he was aware of that," Salamon answered. "But he probably didn't think he had a choice."

Tucker and Kokuwamon were watching as well. Tucker had his PDA ready in case he had to force the spirit out of BurningGreymon.

"This is not an ideal situation," Kokuwamon noted. "Putting our eggs into one, unstable basket was unwise. BurningGreymon is too much of a wild card."

"But what else could we have done?" Tucker asked. "Lopmon wasn't digivolving, and nobody else would be able to match Megadramon."

"There's always another way," Kokuwamon said. "Tucker, I believe your self doubt came back to bite you again. Do you think I wouldn't have been able to do anything?"

Tucker looked at Kokuwamon. "What? No! It's just… whenever we tried to get closer, Megadramon would force us back or attack us… This was…" Tucker trailed off, not sure of what he could say now. "We're not fast… or athletic…"

"No, we are not," Kokuwamon concurred. "But why, may I ask, are we the ones who must put the FDS onto Megadramon? We only needed to be here to activate it, we didn't need to be here to put it on Megadramon ourselves."

Tucker paused. "I… didn't think of that…" He admitted, suddenly feeling very sheepish and embarrassed. "Wow… what a goof I've been…"

Sam or Danny probably would've been the best people to try to get the FDS onto Megadramon, but they weren't here. Valerie was an option, but she would need the explanation, and she was part of the distraction. Whenever BurningGreymon got pushed back, or Megadramon decided to use his ghost powers after all to phase through BurningGreymon's attacks, Valerie would fire her ecto weapons at Megadramon.

So that left Andy and Lopmon. While Andy may not have ghost powers like Danny, or devices and gadgets to help him get around like Valerie, or as athletic as Sam, Andy had shown he was able to dodge quite easily. And Andy had been very sneaky before, planting the device on Airdramon's collar while everyone had been distracted.

"Okay, so we have to get Andy or Valerie to plant the FDS on Megadramon." Tucker mused. "Valerie's hoverboard is out of commission though, so it may have to fall to Andy to get the FDS on that guy."

Although Andy had gotten caught by Megadramon earlier, he knew Andy enough to know the boy wouldn't let himself get caught like that so easily again. Tucker and Kokuwamon went over to where Andy and Lopmon were.

"Andy," Tucker said.

Andy looked at Tucker, frowning. "What?"

"Look… I'm going to need you to plant the FDS on Megadramon. Kokuwamon and I are not fast enough or athletic enough to get it on him, and Valerie's hoverboard is out of commission, so… that leaves you to do it." Tucker explained. "You're the best at dodging out of all of us, so it will be up to you to do it. Once it's on him, then Kokuwamon and I can activate it."

" You want us to get the FDS on Megadramon?" Andy frowned. "I suppose that's not a bad idea, but…"

"Trying to go into that mess with BurningGreymon isn't exactly safe for us either," Lopmon pointed out. "We can try, but we may not come out unscathed."

"When has that stopped you?" Tucker asked.

"Do you really think a normal human like me would be able to get in close like that?" Andy asked back.

"Dude, you fight ghosts all the time alongside a 'friend' of ours! This should be nothing for you." Tucker pointed out, hoping Andy would know who he was talking about.

Andy frowned. "The friend did most of the work though."

"Andy, I know what I said probably shook you up a bit, but I should've been more clear. You aren't like me, okay?" Tucker pointed out.

Andy blinked, surprised to hear that.

"If anyone was insecure and jealous about the whole power and hero thing… it was me," Tucker admitted. "I think you have your own issues with it, but not quite like mine. And right now, we need your help. Please?"

Andy looked at the small, black device on Tucker's hand before he took the device. "Alright, Lopmon and I will try to get this on Megadramon. You keep an eye on things in case they go bad."

Tucker nodded. "I already plan to do that. Don't worry." He reassured Andy.

Andy looked at Tucker. "Are you sure you don't want to do this, Tucker? I know that you've always wanted to be the hero."

"Wait… was that why you insisted I should be the one to plant the FDS on Megadramon?" Tucker blinked. "Despite knowing that's not a good idea?"

Andy didn't reply for a moment before he gave a smile. "I have no idea what you're talking about, Tucker."

Tucker sighed. "Never mind." I really hope Andy never goes rogue. I can't help but get the feeling he would take over a corporate mastermind if he was motivated enough. Maybe I'm looking too much into it…

"Lopmon, do you think we'll be able to pull this off?" Andy asked his partner.

"We'll try," Lopmon said. "I promise I'll do my best to keep you safe."

The two of them nodded before they began running into the battlefield.

BurningGreymon and Megadramon had their claws locked into each other, trying to push the other back. Megadramon's claws oozed with ectoplasm, which was burning BurningGreymon's armor a little. The smell of the ectoplasm was also grating on BurningGreymon's nerves. The stench of ectoplasm was unpleasant to say the least.

BurningGreymon could tell he was slowly losing more and more control to his primal side, and he was struggling to hold on to some sense of sanity. His eyes flickered from blue to purple, a sign he was halfway to becoming primal. He clenched his claws even tighter around Megadramon's, fire coating BurningGreymon's claws so he could inflict more damage to Megadramon's arms.

Finally, Megadramon had enough of this struggle, and turned intangible to get out of the grip. BurningGreymon growled that his opponent was using such cheap tactics to get the upper hand.

"Even with your brute strength, you're still just a Digimon. Meanwhile I have ghost powers, and therefore, I have the advantage!" Megadramon gloated before he fired his missiles at BurningGreymon, but this time they were coated in ectoplasm, giving them a green glow.

Angered even further by this, BurningGreymon spread out his wings, firing out fireballs at the missiles, and the area.

Andy and Lopmon had to move quickly. Andy rolled on the ground, trying to avoid the flames, and some of the debris. Lopmon spun around, making a tiny twister to try to deflect as many flames as possible.

The flames were knocked away by Lopmon's twister, but the fireballs did some more damage to Lopmon slightly.

BurningGreymon was close to losing his fragile control, his eyes more of a deep purple now, close to turning red in color. But he didn't let himself lose full control. He couldn't! But he knew it was inevitable if Megadramon angered him any further.

Tucker could see BurningGreymon was becoming more and more aggressive in the battle. He could see the eyes were starting to turn red, a sure sign he was losing control. Not to mention he stopped calling out the names of his attacks, and was starting to growl more animalistically.

"This is bad… Andy hasn't gotten to Megadramon yet, but if I let this continue, we're gonna lose Takuya to the Beast Spirit." Tucker frowned. "I have to force the spirit out now before things get worse."

"That's a good idea," Kokuwamon agreed.

Tucker quickly pushed a sequence of buttons on his PDA, hoping the same thing would work like it did on Shamamon. The PDA fired out a beam of light at BurningGreymon's chest. BurningGreymon felt a funny, tickling feeling in his chest, but it died down soon after.

"Nothing happened?" Tucker frowned. "Why?"

Tucker tried again. The PDA fired out the beam of light at BurningGreymon again. But again, nothing happened. "Why isn't it working!?"

"What are you trying to do?" Valerie asked as she and Salamon caught up to Tucker and Kokuwamon.

"He's trying to force the spirit out of Takuya before he loses control," Kokuwamon answered. "But it doesn't seem to be working."

"Of course it's not working." Salamon frowned. "BurningGreymon's Spirit belongs with Agunimon's Spirit, both of them have chosen Takuya to be their wielder. BurningGreymon isn't going to just leave even if you try to force it out."

"Then… this plan of Agunimon's was a bust?!" Tucker groaned. "He's counting on me to keep him from losing control!"

"Well that was foolish." Salamon frowned.

"Where's Andy? And Lopmon?" Valerie asked.

Tucker paled as he realized how much danger Andy and Lopmon were in now.

Meanwhile, Megadramon noticed that BurningGreymon was fighting more aggressively. While that made him stronger, it also made him more predictable. He was using a lot of strong attacks, but he had no tactics behind his attacks.

"You may be stronger, but you are more predictable! I, Technus, will beat you black and blue, you meddlesome beast!" Megadramon gloated.

In response, BurningGreymon growled real lowly in the back of his throat as his wings flared open to increase his size appearance-wise. His eyes were dangerously close to a red color now, being a purplish red color now.

Megadramon was about to use another missile attack, when he suddenly heard a familiar voice. "Excuse me? Mind if I cut in?"

Megadramon perked up when he heard the voice. "Ah, you finally came back, ghost child! I was wondering where you went!"

"You know, you did use your ghost powers, so… I guess that means we'll have to end the game," Andy stated, holding onto Lopmon as Lopmon was floating in the air with his ears puffed up.

Andy flicked a small black device on Megadramon's chest. The device attached itself onto Megadramon as soon as it came into contact.

"Huh? What is this? An attempt to make me look cooler? I think the black and green mesh well together!" Megadramon gloated.

Lopmon gave a lopsided grin. "You will regret saying that soon~" He teased.

"Now, Tucker!" Andy shouted.

Seeing that Andy and Lopmon managed to get the FDS on Megadramon, Kokuwamon quickly began generating electricity on his head. The electricity sent out a signal, which carried Tucker's PDA's programing into the FDS.

The FDS sparked on Megadramon's body, causing Technus to lose control of the body as it went numb and stopped moving.

"What is wrong with me!?" Megadramon shouted.

"That's just the FDS taking effect!" Tucker grinned. "Alright! Way to go, Andy, Lopmon!"

"No! Stop it!" Megadramon screamed as he felt his fractal code coming out, and the ghost that was inside him along with it.

BurningGreymon saw this, and he felt the instinct to crush the ghost and consume the fractal code.

Andy noticed the way BurningGreymon's reddish purple eyes were looking at Megadramon's fractal code. If he wanted to save the Digimon and the man, he needed to do something. He remembered how Agunimon would purify some Digimon with his D-Tector, he wondered if his D-Arc could do the same. He hoped that would get BurningGreymon's eyes off of Megadramon and Technus.

"It's time for this ghost to go back where he came from," Andy said as he took out his D-Arc.

Andy pushed a button on his D-Arc, causing the screen to glow before he began scanning the fractal code. "Fractal code, Digitize!"

The scanner ran over the fractal code before it began to purge Technus's essence from the code.

"AAAAHHH! No, NO!" Technus cried out before he felt himself being purged from the Digimon he had taken over. Light enveloped the messed up Megadramon before fading, revealing Technus, the Kuwagamon, and his human partner.

The Kuwagamon suddenly degenerated into a yellow caterpillar-like creature as he and his human partner fell to the ground, unconscious.

BurningGreymon, however, had lost control. His eyes were now a crimson red, and he was roaring loudly. He lost the prey he had been fighting with.

Lopmon paled when he saw BurningGreymon had lost total control again. "Andy, I don't think BurningGreymon is too happy with you…"

"Get us to the ground, hurry!" Andy quickly said, realizing that if Tucker hadn't turned BurningGreymon back to either Agunimon or Takuya, then something went wrong.

Lopmon deflated his ears, quickly having them land on the ground. BurningGreymon roared as he began to knock down the trees and stomped after Andy and Lopmon.

"Why is it always me he comes after?!" Andy groaned as he and Lopmon were running.

"I have no idea, but I think he sees you as the one who took his prey." Lopmon noted.

"I haven't even gotten Technus yet!" Andy cried.

Valerie frowned when she saw this. She also saw that ghost starting to fly away. "Tucker, you got him into this mess, you fix it! I have to go catch that ghost before he gets away and we have another Megadramon on our hands!"

"Okay!" Tucker said. "But when you catch Technus and come back, hand the thermos off to Andy. He will know what to do with Technus."

Valerie nodded. "I will. Just be careful. Come on, Salamon!"

"I wish you luck," Salamon said before Valerie managed to summon her hoverboard, which was flyable again.

Salamon humped on the hoverboard as Valerie flew after Technus. She was not letting that ghost get away and mess up the Digital World again.

"I will retreat for now, and then I will come back stronger than eve-" Technus began announcing when he was interrupted.

"You're not coming back here ever again!" Valerie shouted.

"Uh-oh!" Technus quickly flew away as the ghost huntress flew after him.

Meanwhile, Tucker and Kokuwamon were trying to figure out what to do as BurningGreymon was chasing after Andy and Lopmon.

"I can't get BurningGreymon to go back to being Agunimon!" Tucker frowned as he was frantically pushing buttons on his PDA. "This is pointless! This PDA isn't doing anything!"

Kokuwamon looked at Tucker for a moment before he began stepping forward.

"Kokuwamon? What are you doing?" Tucker asked.

"I understand you put a lot of effort and confidence into your technology and skills," Kokuwamon stated. "However, I hope that you could put that much effort and confidence in me as well. I will stop BurningGreymon from hurting our friends."

"B-but BurningGreymon is so much stronger!" Tucker protested. "It's not that I don't have confidence in your abilities, but this is a Legendary Warrior we're talking about!"

"Yes, but isn't that Legendary Warrior also your friend?" Kokuwamon countered. "Don't you want to save him as well?"

"Well, yes but…" Tucker began.

"And would you do anything to save him, even put your confidence and effort in me as well?" Kokuwamon continued.

Tucker nodded, surprised at where Kokuwamon was going with this. "I would, yes."

"Then why don't you?" Kokuwamon asked Tucker.

"Because I… I'm scared!" Tucker admitted. "What if I lose you? Or I mess up and make things worse? I can't be a hero, I'm no hero!"

"Then stop trying to make yourself a hero," Kokuwamon said. "You're Tucker, that's who you are. Heroes need help from others to be able to do the things they do. If you wish for me to do it, I will fulfill your wish and save Andy and Takuya."

Tucker realized what Kokuwamon was saying at that point. "I'm not alone… and heroes don't act alone…" He muttered, realizing what Kokuwamon was getting at. He then faced in the direction of where BurningGreymon was. "I get it. I can't do this alone. I need your help to save my friends."

I was always so jealous of Danny when he got ghost powers. We grew up watching a lot of superhero TV shows, and comic books. I always wanted to be a hero, someone people admired, and have super powers. When Danny got ghost powers, I began to get jealous. I wished I was like him, to have powers as well. And then I got it, I got to have ghost powers. But… I wasn't a hero, I was just a messed up kid hurting people. Tucker thought to himself. A hero… isn't like that. A hero isn't a hero just because they have super powers. They're heroes because they save people, they do the right thing for the right reasons. I'm no hero, I'm selfish. But right now… I want to save Andy, Lopmon, and Takuya from this. Please…

"Give me the strength I need to save them!" Tucker yelled.

Kokuwamon's body began to glow brightly. "That's it, Tucker, I feel it! Your hopes and desires to save the people you care about!"

Tucker blinked as fractal code surrounded Kokuwamon. "W-wha… Is this…?" Tucker breathed as he realized what this had to be.

"Kokuwamon, digivolve to…" Kokuwamon's body began to peel away from his frame. Then, bronze armor began to latch onto his arms and legs. The bronze armor latched on to the rest of his body as well as his eyes turned a green color. His wings were gone, but a large, bulky backpack was on his back now in their place. "Guardromon!"

The fractal code dissipated, revealing a new Digimon. This Digimon looked like an android almost, but with bronze armor on its arms and legs, and it had green eyes. It looked like a steam-punk android man if Tucker was seeing this correctly.

"No way… This is awesome!" Tucker cheered.

The new Digimon looked at Tucker. "I am Guardromon now. I will do my best to keep your friends safe."

Guardromon's back burst to life with flames. He flew up into the air, shooting himself toward Andy and Lopmon. He quickly landed behind them, held out his hands, and grabbed onto the incoming beast that was BurningGreymon, holding him back.

Andy and Lopmon stopped running, taken by surprise by this sudden appearance of Guardromon.

"What?" Andy blinked. "What's going on?"

"That's… a Guardromon?" Lopmon questioned in confusion.

BurningGreymon's red eyes narrowed at the sight of the new interloper. He growled in the back of his throat threateningly, not backing down.

"I will protect you both, but you need to run." Guardromon said to Andy and Lopmon.

"Andy! Lopmon!" Tucker called out. "That's my partner, he digivolved to try to save you guys! You have to keep running!"

Andy and Lopmon, realizing who this Guardromon was now, ran to the side. They hurried over to where Tucker was.

"Tucker, that's… Kokuwamon?" Andy asked to be sure.

"Yeah. He digivolved to help me save you guys." Tucker confirmed. "It's crazy I know, but that's what happened."

"You were able to get your partner to digivolve, to protect us," Lopmon noted.

"But… why?" Andy asked, surprised. "I mean, I'm glad you were able to get Kokuwamon to digivolve to save us, but… are you sure that was all you wanted?"

"You still think I want to be the hero, don't you?" Tucker replied.

"Well, yeah… you made it pretty clear during the whole Desiree incident…" Andy said. "I know that we confronted and forgave each other after that incident, but that desire isn't something that just goes away. I figured if you could get stronger and save us by your own hands, an incident like that wouldn't happen again."

"Oh… I see… that explains why you were pushing for me and Kokuwamon to be the ones to put the FDS on Megadramon, right?" Tucker realized. "You were worried I would let my jealousy get the better of me again."

"... Well… that is a reason, but not the whole reason," Andy admitted. "I have no doubt you wouldn't let yourself fall for your jealousy again so easily. But… I was also doing it for myself."

"What do you mean?" Tucker asked.

Guardromon was strong and bulky, but BurningGreymon was still stronger. He was beginning to push him back.

"No you don't! Grenade Destroyer!" Guardromon fired out a cartoony looking missile with eyes and white arms and hands from his shoulders at BurningGreymon's face.

BurningGreymon recoiled at the close range explosions, putting up his arms to use his cannons to shield his face. This gave Guardromon some breathing room as BurningGreymon staggered back, trying to regain some of his senses since his hearing was affected badly.

During all of this, Andy and Tucker were still talking.

"The reason why Lopmon has been having trouble digivolving again, despite us being in danger, is because of my own doubt," Andy explained, sighing. "Before, I had been sure, confident even, that what I've been doing was helpful. I wanted to help… to save everyone. I wanted to stop the players from bullying the Digimon and seeing the world as just a video game…"

"Andy… That's what we set out to do, save this world. Why would you be doubting about that?" Tucker asked, surprised Andy was having doubts.

"You hadn't noticed until I told you, huh? I guess I was better at covering it up than I thought," Andy chuckled a little bitterly. "It was when we were attacked by Grumblemon, before we got separated. He was powerful, and he was just one Legendary Warrior. If he was that strong, and we had that much trouble with him… I wasn't sure how we would be able to defeat the players who were able to rise to the top and defeat one of the Celestials, who was apparently the strongest one among them. Not only that, all of you got hurt, and put in danger. There was a chance you guys could've gotten consumed by that strange fog, or by Megadramon himself. The more things happened, the more I began to realize how foolish this whole plan was, and how cocky I had been… You were right before, about how I wanted to be a hero, just like you… but I went about it differently. This was my Desiree. Look at what it's come to…"

"Andy…" Tucker muttered, not realizing how much the fight with Grunblemon had scared Andy. "Andy… you didn't know this would happen. None of us did. We… It's not all your fault."

"I may not have known this would've happened exactly, but it wasn't like I didn't know the risk and dangers this would've presented," Andy replied. "I just thought that with our Digimon, and abilities, we would be able to take whatever the other players could dish out. Instead, we end up having to run away from players. We kept getting beaten down, even when it was just one player. If our Digimon hadn't digivolved when they did, how many times would we have… not made it? It was lucky that they were able to digivolve when they did, but how much longer can we push our luck until everything catches up to us?"

"Andy… do you truly believe that?" Lopmon asked in concern.

"No… at least not all of it," Andy answered. "Which was why I turned to you, Tucker. You and Valerie were the only ones in our group who have yet to digivolve your partner into their next level. It was true that I knew you wanted to be a hero, someone others could look up to, like with Danny and Takuya. But… for the most part, I wanted to see if you would be able to do it. To see if someone, like me, without any special powers, or athletic skills, would be able to go into such a dangerous situation and still be able to pull it off. I also wanted to see what would activate your partner's digivolution. Could people like us really be heroes? Could we truly help others and get stronger? Or are we just… people who would get in the way of the actual heroes of the story?"

Andy sighed. "I'm sorry, Tucker. By wanting to see what would happen with you, I ended up putting us all in danger. I'm definitely no hero."

"Andy…" Tucker frowned a bit. He hadn't considered Andy would be doing something like that before. Trying to see if he too could be a hero… "Do you really feel that way? That you, and me, would just get in the way of the others?"

"No, at least, not you," Andy replied. "Even if you can't fight with ghosts or Digimon directly like… the others could, you have your own ways of being helpful in battle. Your skill with technology. I don't know anyone who could hack into computers as well as you could. Or to be able to shut off the security system of the Axion Labs, that takes some serious skills. Ghosts like Technus and Skulker have reasons to be afraid of you and your knowledge of technology. Danny and Takuya are obvious. Sam also has her own way of helping. Being the group's morale, as well as having resources. Not to mention she's very athletic herself, she can keep up if she needs to. So, who's the odd one out? Who's the one without any actual kind of talent or skill in the group? Can you figure it out?"

Tucker sighed. "Andy… you're not the odd one out. You have your own skills too." He then looked back up at Andy. "What about your battle plans? How is that not a skill of yours? I don't think anyone could come up with plans to beat enemies as well as you do."

"Even if I weren't here, don't tell me you guys can't come up with your own battle plans," Andy replied. "In case you haven't noticed, I've been taking a backseat from most of the planning after Grumblemon attacked us. I only made a suggestion about the Trailmon station. But it wasn't because I believed that would help get us to Megadramon faster. If anything, that would slow us down from getting to him. I'm sure if we really needed to get to Megadramon, Sam and Biyomon would've been able to pull off another digivolution, and we could've rode on Birdramon to get to Megadramon. You guys put too much stock in what I said. But you still manage to come up with your own ideas, and we managed to track down Megadramon in the end, right? So why do you need me?"

"Andy, you're not useless. You're one of Team Phantom, just as much as I am, just as much as Sam, Danny, and Takuya are. It wouldn't be the same without you." Tucker said seriously. "We wouldn't be much of a team if you weren't here."

"Andy, I think you're ignoring something," Lopmon spoke up. "You're ignoring everything you've contributed with your friends. You've only been seeing what they have been able to accomplish, and what they can do. But haven't you realized that the only reason they were able to accomplish most of those things was because of you? It only took us this long to get to Megadramon because you haven't said what you were really thinking. Instead, you decided to go on a more roundabout way of doing things just to try to prove to yourself that they didn't need you. Megadramon was able to reach the Rose Morning Star after all. That was what you wanted, right?"

"You… wanted Megadramon to reach the Rose Morning Star?" Tucker asked, surprised.

Andy frowned, but didn't say anything.

"Andy wanted to see what would happen if Megadramon took on the top players who were residing at the Rose Morning Star," Lopmon explained. "After losing confidence, he wasn't sure if it was wise for us to try to take on those players anymore. So instead, he figured he could kill two Hawkmon with one stone, and have Megadramon and the players at the Rose Morning Star try to take each other out. But that's not what happened… instead, the players easily defeated Megadramon and sent him packing."

"Andy… that was completely reckless!" Tucker exclaimed. "Did it ever occur to you that Megadramon could have gotten stronger if he defeated one of the players there? We were lucky the players were stronger than Megadramon."

Tucker then sighed. "Andy… You can't just assume you're useless. You can't keep going on like this. It's not like you to have doubts like that."

"... You're right. I'm not really sure where the doubts came from…" Andy admitted. "I guess when I felt confident that we would be able to defeat the players, and realized just what we were up against, I… felt foolish, and insignificant."

Tucker knew, however, he had noticed it earlier. Why Andy would feel the way he did. After all, Tucker felt the same way himself when he started getting jealous of Danny.

"Believe me, I know that all too well." Tucker admitted. "I felt the same way about… a friend's special skills. And look what it got me; a messed up wish and some powers that were messing with my head. And that was just when we were hanging out. You've had to see it, and dealt with it on a daily basis. In fact, I was surprised you didn't start getting jealous yourself. You seem to think you're the only average person in your family."

Andy thought for a moment. "Yeah… I suppose you're right. I've always been working hard to try to be useful. I came up with battle plans because I was confident you guys will be able to pull them off. But that's all I'm good at. I try to train everyone to prepare for ghost attacks, but no matter how much we train, we're still just… humans. I want to be able to do more than just tell someone to use their special skills to do something. But…"

Andy went silent for a moment.

Lopmon decided to continue on Andy's behalf, he already knew what Andy was trying to say. "He was surprised when Kokuwamon digivolved into Guardromon. He thought that Kokuwamon would become something else."

"What? How would you even know that?" Tucker asked.

"I told him," Lopmon answered. "We Digimon have certain inherent knowledge. We don't know everything of course, but I seem to know what kind of Digimon Kokuwamon could digivolve into. Guardromon was a possibility, but there was another digivolution he could've gotten. And Andy had been certain that would be the form your Kokuwamon would've taken. Kokuwamon could also digivolve into a Digimon called Thundermon. He's small, but he's a very fast, very hard hitting Digimon with his electrical powers. So the fact Kokuwamon became a Guardromon instead, a Digimon meant for protection rather than power, took Andy off guard."

"What I… I want to know is… why? What was going on in your head that caused this digivolution?" Andy questioned.

"I… I wanted to help save you, Lopmon, and Takuya." Tucker replied. "I needed Kokuwamon's help to save them, and that a hero can't act alone." Tucker then sighed. "I did want to be the hero, but I was completely ignoring everyone else and the fact they could help me. It took Kokuwamon reminding me that I was not alone for me to realize I couldn't save you, Lopmon, or Takuya by myself."

"That's what got Kokuwamon to digivolve?" Andy said. "You decided that you rather protect everyone else rather than be the hero?"

Tucker nodded. "That's right. I… I do still want to be the hero, but what teenager doesn't? But I realized that sometimes it's more important to swallow one's pride in order to protect those closest to him. Didn't you used to think the same way?"

That's right… why did I want to try to overthrow those players before? It wasn't because I wanted to show Danny or Takuya up, or that I wanted glory of my own. It was because I wanted to help the Digimon here. To help the players realize this world and its inhabitants are as real as they are. Andy remembered. When I began to lose confidence in myself, I began questioning my own relevance, and reasoning why I wanted to do this in the first place. I began thinking that I wanted acknowledgment instead of doing it because it was the right thing to do. I put everyone in danger, so I must be selfish, because it was my idea to begin with, right?

"I think you're sometimes too clever for your own good, Andy," Lopmon spoke up. "When you started to doubt yourself, you began to overthink and started believing things that weren't true about yourself. Think back to when I first digivolved, you didn't want to hurt anyone, you didn't want to show off that you could be just as good as they were, or be the hero. You only wanted to save Takuya from his Beast Spirit."

There was another explosion. Guardromon was being picked up and thrown before BurningGreymon shot out flames at Guardromon.

"Don't think about how strong those players are, don't think about how you're going to pull it off, and don't think about the dangers everyone is in. They all came here with us by their own choice. They want to help, despite the dangers," Lopmon continued.

"That's right," Tucker agreed. "You don't have to shoulder this alone, Andy. Even without powers, you can be useful on your own. And right now… the one with power, too much power, needs our help more than ever."

Andy took a moment to take a deep breath and let it out. He could hear BurningGreymon's roars vibrating the area. Guardromon wasn't going to last much longer. Takuya and Danny had power, but that didn't mean they were heroes, it just meant they were people with power. A hero was someone who chose to do the right thing for the right reasons. Andy knew this, but his doubt made him forget that.

"You're right, both of you. I'm sorry, my doubt got the better of me," Andy apologized before he smiled. "But I'll make sure that won't happen again. Come on, Lopmon, let's save Takuya again together!"

Lopmon and Tucker both smiled.

"Yeah! That's what I'm talking about." Tucker chuckled.

"Let's go, Andy." Lopmon agreed.

Andy and Lopmon began running at BurningGreymon as he was about to stomp Guardromon with his feet.

"Hey BurningGreymon!" Andy shouted. "I think you've got the wrong target!"

Andy held up his D-Arc. His D-Arc began to glow brightly, grabbing BurningGreymon's attention. Please work… Please… I want to save Takuya again. We can get out of this alive, I just have to believe in Lopmon, believe in myself!

Fractal code surrounded Lopmon, who was grinning. "Lopmon, digivolve to…" Lopmon began to lose his own skin, on his face, and then his legs lost their skin as well. His ears also lost their skin before his skin began to come back, but on his legs and feet first. Lopmon's legs gained shoes and yellow pants with a belt and yellow top that matched, two blades appeared as his hands regained their skin and red gloves, grasping the blades in both hands. The skin on Lopmon's head and face came back, just as a blue bandanna appeared around his neck as well. "Tururiemon!"

The fractal code dissipated, revealing Tururiemon in Lopmon's place.

BurningGreymon's red eyes narrowed upon seeing Tururiemon before him. A low growl escaped BurningGreymon's throat as he began to circle on all fours, looking more like a predator than the Legendary Warrior he was supposed to be. His wings were flared and the feathers puffed up as his tail swished around slowly behind him.

"It seems you may remember me from last time," Tururiemon noted, staring BurningGreymon down himself. "Were you waiting for me to show up again? Or perhaps you just needed an excuse to hunt, right? Hunt down the rabbit who defeated you before. So bring it on, I'll take whatever you can dish out!"

BurningGreymon growled again before he let out a loud roar and flared his wings open. He lunged for Turuiemon, claws exposed and coated in flames. BurningGreymon then drove his claws down towards the Champion level Digimon before him.

Turuiemon didn't hesitate to do his best to block the flaming claws with his own gauntlets. Though the flames were hot, he wasn't going to back down so easily.

Andy was running to Guardromon while Turuiemon was distracting BurningGreymon. "Hey, Guardromon, are you okay?"

Andy was taking something out of his pocket. It looked to be a small Fenton wrist gun.

"I'll be fine… but now I know how being beaten like a punching bag feels." Guardromon groaned as he got to his feet.

"Here, do you think you can absorb this?" Andy asked, holding out the wrist gun. "I haven't had much use for it lately, and Tucker says you might be able to incorporate this into your body and turn it into a weapon you could potentially use."

Guardromon looked at the wrist laser for a few moments before nodding. "I believe I can use this." He said as he took the wrist ray from Andy gently.

"As strong as Turuiemon is, taking on BurningGreymon by himself isn't ideal," Andy said as the wrist gun turned into fractal code in Guardromon's hand. "If you can still fight, please help Turuiemon bring Takuya back."

"I will do my best." Guardromon promised. "I will not let a friend go out of control if I can stop it."

Andy smiled. "Thank you."

With the fractal code absorbed, Guardromon stood up, feeling a new power rushing through him.

Turuiemon was jumping away from BurningGreymon's attacks. BurningGreymon was strong, but Turuiemon was fast. "Ninja Fist!"

Turuiemon was taking pot shots at BurningGreymon, sneaking in quick jabs here and there, but BurningGreymon's armor was protecting him from most of Turuiemon's light attacks.

"I can't get through that armor!" Turuiemon hissed, jumping away from another fire attack.

BurningGreymon roared again, swinging his tail at Turuiemon, who was in mid-jump. The appendage hit Turuiemon right in the gut, sending him back.

Turuiemon ended up hitting a tree. "Ugh… I'm… gonna be… feeling that one… in the morning…"

BurningGreymon began running at Turuiemon on all fours, when a stinging session hit him from behind.

"Ecto Gun!"

Turning around, BurningGreymon saw Guardromon with a strange looking silver and green gun sticking out from his stomach.

"I will not allow you to hurt Turuiemon again," Guardromon stated.

BurningGreymon roared again as fire flared from his body, covering him completely before he ran at Guardromon on all fours.

Guardromon fired up his back and feet with flames, trying to move away as quickly as he could from the incoming flaming dragon. BurningGreymon managed to get to his back, tearing off a big chunk of Guardromon's back.

"Guardromon!" Turuiemon called out in concern.

Andy hurried over to Tucker. "At this rate… Tucker, don't you have any more FDS?"

"No, the only one I worked on was the one we used on Megadramon." Tucker frowned. "I didn't have time to make more, and I didn't think we would need one more!"

"So is there nothing we can do?" Andy frowned before he remembered something Tucker was trying to do with Megadramon before. "Wait… your PDA, what were you trying to do with that before?"

"I was trying to look for a weakness in Megadramon." Tucker replied. "Why?"

"Why weren't you able to find a weakness in Megadramon?" Andy questioned back.

"He was a combination of data, a human, and ectoplasm." Tucker replied back.

"In other words, an unstable abomination, an amalgamate, so he wasn't considered a true Digimon, or ghost, or human," Andy remembered. "But… What about BurningGreymon? Do you think you'll be able to scan him for a weakness?"

Tucker's eyes went wide as he realized what Andy was asking. "I think so… but I'm not sure if it would work since BurningGreymon is also Takuya."

"Try it anyways," Andy instructed. "We might find a way to stop his rampaging."

Turuiemon slashed BurningGreymon's back with his Gauntlet Claw to get him away from the injured Guardromon. It succeeded as BurningGreymon's attention was back on Turuiemon again.

Tucker took out his PDA and activated the scanner. "Okay… Don't let me down this time, please…" He muttered as he pointed said scanner at BurningGreymon.

An image of BurningGreymon began to appear on Tucker's screen. Unlike with Megadramon before, it wasn't an unknown entity. The screen showed the form and the name of BurningGreymon as clear as day. Not only that, but there was a small arrow pointing at a small crack in BurningGreymon's armor, the same area where Guardromon shot him with the Ecto Gun.

"No way… It actually worked!" Tucker exclaimed as a grin crossed his face. "And not only that, we found a weak spot in his armor!"

Tucker quickly showed Andy.

"Of course, the ecto gun, Digimon are weak to ghost attacks!" Andy realized. "That's what caused the small crack in his armor!"

Tucker nodded. "Guardromon! Can you still fight!? We need you to use your Ecto Gun to create an opening in BurningGreymon's armor!"

Guardromon nodded as he got back to his feet. "I can! You can count on me!"

"Turuiemon! Since you have BurningGreymon's attention, try to line him up at Guardromon so he can shoot at his back again!" Andy instructed. "Do you think you can do it!?"

Turuiemon nodded. "That I can do!" He exclaimed before turning his attention back to BurningGreymon. "Eyes on me, big boy!"

Turuiemon began to move towards Guardromon again, keeping BurningGreymon's attention on himself.

While that was going on, Guardromon brought out his Ecto Gun again and took aim at the approaching BurningGreymon. "Almost there…"

Turuiemon was now a few feet away from Guardromon, with BurningGreymon having his back at Guardromon. Due to BurningGreymon running on instinct, he had no idea of the plan they had set up for him. Guardromon fired the Ecto Gun on his stomach again, shooting out a green ray from it, and hitting BurningGreymon right in the back. The crack in the armor grew larger until a small chunk of armor broke out. Of course, this angered BurningGreymon.

BurningGreymon turned his attention to Guardromon again, but this exposed his back to Turuiemon now instead, and that gave Tucker an idea.

"Hey, Andy! Have Turuiemon go for the opening in the armor! We might be able to pull this off if it is aimed right." Tucker said, seeing the opening in BurningGreymon's armor left his back exposed to a direct attack now.

Turuiemon noticed the exposed spot as well, but instead of taking advantage of it right away, he waited for Andy's orders. BurningGreymon was shaking as flames began to flicker on his body.

Andy held up his hand. "Wait. Not yet."

As soon as Andy said that, large flames covered BurningGreymon's entire body. Tucker gasped, seeing why Andy said to wait. If Turuiemon had attacked, he would've gotten caught up in those intense flames.

"Geez… Talk about good timing on waiting…" Tucker gulped.

"No… just deductive reasoning. He's thinking like an animal right now, and we've just cornered him. He's going to be at his most dangerous," Andy explained.

BurningGreymon had never been so angered. His prey got away from him, and then his prior prey stole his new prey, and now he was being attacked all for retaliation! This was the final straw!

"At this rate, he's going to burn all of us alive!" Tucker yelped.

Andy was sweating from all the heat the flames were putting out. What else can we do? He's too angered to be reasoned with again. We have to knock him out somehow…

Guardromon was too weak to fire another ecto attack, and even if he could, BurningGreymon was on guard. Turuiemon's attacks were all melee, and he couldn't get close to BurningGreymon as he was now, he would just get burned.

Then there was a loud sound, it sounded like a high pitched howling. This distracted BurningGreymon enough for the flames to dim a bit.

Seeing his chance, Andy shouted. "NOW!"

Turuiemon didn't hesitate to jump at BurningGreymon's back. "Gauntlet Claw!"

Turuiemon's claws dug into BurningGreymon's exposed back.

BurningGreymon let out a loud roar of pain as he felt the metal claws dig into his exposed back. It hurt so bad! He had never experienced pain like that before! He tried to throw off Turuiemon, but the pain in his back was too much for him if he moved around too much.

Eventually, BurningGreymon had tired himself out, and fell to the ground with Turuiemon still on his back. With BurningGreymon on the ground, Turuiemon pulled out his gauntlet claws out of his back. Surprisingly, there wasn't any blood on Turuiemon's gauntlet, which made Andy wonder if Digimon didn't have any blood. Although if they were made from data, he supposed that made sense.

"Looks like we got back just in time!" Valerie called from the sky, holding a Thermos that looked very similar to the Fenton Thermos, but it was her own thermos.

"I'm glad my Puppy Howling managed to distract him enough for you to finish the job," Salamon remarked as Valerie came down for a landing.

"But is it over yet?" Tucker asked. "He hasn't turned back into Takuya."

As if on cue, BurningGreymon was surrounded by fractal code, which then dissipated to reveal Agunimon once more. He groaned as he felt someone on his back. "Whoever is on top of me… can you please get off?"

"Sorry!" Turuiemon apologized as he quickly hopped off of Agunimon's back.

"Agunimon? Are you okay?" Andy asked in concern.

"Not really… not after losing control again…" Agunimon groaned as he put his head in his hands. "I thought I had more time!"

"It's okay, we're all okay," Tucker spoke up.

Guardromon, seeing that it was over now, surrounded himself with fractal code, shrinking back down into Kokuwamon. He didn't look as beaten up as he did before, thankfully, but he didn't feel like he could move any time soon.

"Whoa, that was your Digimon?" Valerie blinked, seeing Guardromon turning back into Kokuwamon.

"Yeah, it was." Tucker confirmed. "He managed to digivolve! Pretty cool, huh?"

"I guess. He just looked like a generic patrol bot though," Valerie said, unimpressed. "I thought that's what he was, a patrol bot coming to see what all the noise was here."

"That's cold…" Kokuwamon grumbled.

"Regardless though, if it weren't for Guardromon, we…" Andy hesitated to say it in front of Agunimon. "Well, we probably would be in a lot of trouble."

"Was… Megadramon… that strong?" Agunimon groaned. "What'd he… do to my back?"

Tucker hesitated, as did Turuiemon.

"Um… It wasn't exactly Megadramon… that hurt you…" Tucker said carefully.

"Ow… If not him… then who…?" Agunimon began to ask as he sat up, wincing as he felt his back aching.

"We should save the explanation for later," Andy said. "There's a man over there who's unconscious right now. We need to get him to safety, and we need to get back with the others."

"Oh yeah, what about Technus?" Turuiemon asked. "He flew away, didn't he?"

"Don't worry about him," Valerie said, holding up the Fen- the Ghost Thermos. "I managed to catch him. Though he definitely didn't make it easy."

Tucker grinned at Valerie. "Really? Sweet! Now we just have to get him released into the Ghost Zone!"

"Why would I do that? He'll just come back and cause more trouble! He needs to be eliminated or locked up where he can't cause anymore trouble!" Valerie snapped.

Tucker gulped. "I'm not disagreeing, but isn't that a bit much?"

"We will discuss what we'll do with Technus once we get back to the others," Andy suggested. "Valerie, I think we all need to talk about what to do about Technus before you decide you should eliminate him or lock him up somewhere."

"I agree, it's too hasty to decide on what to do with the ghost on your own with how hot your emotions are right now," Salamon stated, backing Andy up.

Valerie huffed, but backed down. "Fine…" She grumbled.

Agunimon winced again as he tried to stand up, but his back was sore still. Finally, he just decided to release his evolution. Fractal code surrounded him before it dissipated, revealing Takuya once more. "Ow… I seriously will feel that in the morning…"

"Took the words right out of my mouth," Turuiemon chuckled before he walked over to the unconscious man and picked him up with little effort, swinging him onto his shoulder. "So, I'm guessing we'll be walking back?"

"Oh! Crap! We forgot about Airdramon!" Tucker gasped.

Takuya paled at that. "Right! Where is he? Is he okay?!"

"We'll go check, you guys wait here," Valerie said as she had her hoverboard fly her and Salamon to where they saw Airdramon crash land earlier.

While Valerie was gone, Takuya looked at Tucker and Andy. He recalled seeing Kokuwamon in a new form earlier before degenerating back into Kokuwamon, and he had looked pretty beaten up. So Kokuwamon likely digivolved and had fought with someone pretty powerful. And the fact that Turuiemon was here, meant that Lopmon had digivolved as well. Seeing how Megadramon wasn't here anymore, and Turuiemon had the man, one of the beings that got fused into Megadramon, and Valerie had caught the ghost responsible for that fusion, it was safe to say that they had beaten Megadramon. And that was probably why Takuya was no longer BurningGreymon, because Tucker forced the spirit out of him… right?

If that's the case… Why was Turuiemon on my back? That's what's confusing… Takuya wondered. He remembered fighting Megadramon, and then everything became a blur to him, signaling when he had lost control of his Beast Spirit.

"How long will you be able to stay in that form, Turuiemon?" Andy asked. "If it's not long, we'll have to find another way to carry that man."

"I think I can last long enough to get this man to safety." Turuiemon replied.

"Okay," Andy replied.

"Are you going to be okay, Kokuwamon?" Tucker asked his partner in concern. "Your back got pretty… scrapped in that fight."

"I will be fine. My body was hurt, but my Digi-Core remained intact," Kokuwamon explained. "My body will heal on its own, especially after I get some food."

"That's good. I was worried for a moment." Tucker sighed in relief.

"Um… we beat Megadramon, right? Then… Why do I feel like I missed something that went on?" Takuya asked, confused. "Because after I lost control, things got blurry."

"Yeah, we defeated Megadramon," Andy answered. "After the de-fusion, Technus went flying so Valerie had to go after him to catch him. The man fell unconscious, and his partner Digimon turned into a smaller bug."

"That would be Kunemon," Kokuwamon informed.

"I have him too," Turuiemon said, holding up a yellow and orange giant centipede looking creature, though it didn't have any visible eyes so it was hard to tell if it was awake or not.

"Okay… but what happened after that?" Takuya asked. "Did Tucker force out my Beast Spirit? Because that was my plan if I lost control…"

Nobody gave an answer to Takuya. They weren't sure if they should tell him or if they should tell him a white lie so he wouldn't feel so bad about what happened.

"Guys?" Takuya frowned, starting to get a sinking feeling.

"You've got a brain, Takuya. What do you think happened?" Andy asked.

Takuya felt the blood slowly drain from his face. "You… no… That… it happened again?!"

"That would be… an accurate conclusion," Kokuwamon stated.

"But why!? Tucker, why didn't you force the Spirit out when I started losing control?" Takuya demanded.

"I tried… I couldn't force your spirit out," Tucker sighed. "It wouldn't let me…"

Takuya groaned. "Of all the… I thought that would work!" He groaned out. "Why does this happen to me?! I thought that plan would work!"

"It was reckless," Turuiemon said. "You shouldn't put all your hopes on one thing that hadn't even been tested to work on you."

"But besides that, it was mostly my fault that things had boiled down to that anyways," Andy said. "Because of my own cowardice and doubt. We had gotten to the point that you were desperate enough to use your Beast Spirit when you hadn't learned how to control it yet."

Takuya looked up at Andy, shocked at what he was hearing. "Wait… it was your fault things went down south like that? I don't… how did that happen? It's not like you to doubt yourself like that."

"It may not have been like me, but you have to remember, I'm only human. I'm vulnerable to having emotions like doubt and despair. On top of that, I'm also 14 years old. Teenagers are known for being very emotional people," Andy pointed out as he crossed his arms. "I can't always control how I feel. And I think we all know how hard it can be to get a grip on yourself when you let the seed of doubt grow too much, the incident with Spectra showed that."

Takuya nodded, remembering Spectra's antics well. "Yeah… I guess you have a point." He admitted. "But geez… to let things go that far… That's one big mistake you made."

"It wasn't one big mistake, but several small ones that led to this," Andy sighed. "But I've done my best to atone for that. And thankfully, nobody got seriously hurt."

"Well, except for one…" Tucker frowned.

Meanwhile, Valerie and Salamon found the injured Airdramon lying on the ground. They quickly landed near Airdramon. Valerie couldn't help but hiss at the damages the poor Digimon had suffered from Megadramon's attack. Airdramon lost half of his body, and one of his wings. She was surprised he was still alive.

"Geez… talk about damage… I'm amazed Airdramon is still alive." Valerie murmured. "Will he be okay?"

Salamon walked up to Airdramon, putting her paw on Airdramon's body. "His body is already slowly turning into data. Eventually, what's left of his body will disperse into data, and create a Digi-Egg in his place that will head back to Primary Village."

"Heh…" Airdramon gave a weak laugh, surprising Valerie. "So… I guess that's it, huh? The… end of the line… for me."

"You're awake?" Valerie said in shock.

"I woke up… a few minutes ago… though I… can't really move…" Airdramon replied. "I can't… feel anything actually… I knew I wasn't going to last long, but… to hear it straight… well, that pretty much confirmed it then."

"I… I'm sorry…" Valerie said, not sure what else to say. "If I had been there sooner…"

"I'm sorry as well… If I had access to my Mega form, I would've been able to save you," Salamon apologized.

"Don't… be sorry… Since the players… disrupted everything… I hadn't had much of a job anymore…" Airdramon weakly chuckled. "It was… nice… to be able… to help you nice… players out… I could tell… you want to help… If I could have… a wish… when I'm reborn, I would want… to have a partner… as kind as you guys…"

Valerie felt her heart go out to Airdramon. "You… did do a good job helping us… if not for you… we wouldn't have found Megadramon. We owe you our thanks…" She tried to keep her voice from cracking, she really did, but it was hard, since she was witnessing a Digimon slowly dying; even knowing he would be reborn didn't help much.

"Will you… let the others… know that… I was grateful… to have met them?" Airdramon requested, his voice sounding softer and weaker.

"Y-yes, of course," Valerie replied, feeling herself tear up.

"Thank you… life is precious… no matter… who you are…" Airdramon stated. "I… will return… stronger… than before… look forward… to that… day… we meet… ag…ain…"

Airdramon's eyes closed, and the rest of his body turned into bits of data. The data began to reform into an egg before Valerie and Salamon's eyes.

Valerie looked down, hiding her eyes from view. It was over… Airdramon was gone… She knew he would be reborn, but that didn't make it any easier for her to process or accept. "I… I know he will be back… But… But that… that doesn't make it any easier… does it?"

Salamon put a comforting paw on Valerie's leg as the egg flew up into the sky, heading to Primary Village. "It's never easy losing someone. You can look up now, Valerie… the egg is gone… and we need to get back to the others. But… at least Airdramon was able to leave in peace, knowing we cared about him."

Valerie nodded, rubbing at her eyes. "Yeah… The… The others will need to know about this… Let's go… Airdramon wanted us to tell them anyway…"

Titanic X: ZAFT: Glad you are enjoying it. :3 But we want to know what you enjoyed about it next time… ^^'

pokemon fan 1991:DarkFoxKit: Huh… I haven't seen 02 in years, so the Airdramon was more of a coincidence. But yay, it made sense! As for Danny Phantom, we're not skipping Public Enemies, but I will let you know that starting now, the episodes of Danny Phantom aren't going to be in chronological order from canon anymore. We're going with the episodes if we feel it fits the next timeline in our story.

ZAFT: As for Jazz, you will see what happens here. And uh… Andy's manga were chomped? Oh boy… ^^'

DarkFoxKit: Do you have some kind of rivalry with Andy that I don't know about? ^^'

ZAFT: Probably… ^^'

Kittylover05: ZAFT: Yay for Kitty's reviews! XD

DarkFoxKit: Thank you for your support, Kitty, I appreciate it. But I'm doing okay, and while I will miss Rico, I know he wouldn't want me to be miserable forever. And writing also helps me feel better too.

I'm glad that you noticed that Dash's redemption arc was already being worked on in the background since the dragon incident. I had comments in the past asking me if Dash is just going to remain a bully forever in this story, and none of them really talked about the scenes where Dash has been hesitant to do anything to Andy and his friends lately. And yeah, the social circle and popularity chain makes it difficult for Dash, who's at the top of said chain, to want to change, or even know how to change. He's not quite brave enough to change how the popularity social circle works either, but he at least doesn't feel good about it anymore.

ZAFT: I will say this though, Dash may get braver about changing how the popularity chain works, but we will see if that happens or not. :3

DarkFoxKit: Yeah, I agree that Dash had more layers to him in the show that was never really fleshed out, which is a darn shame too. I was happy to see he had a pet Chihuahua that he loves, which was what gave me the inspiration to give him Labramon, a dog Digimon. And I like to think, since Labramon is his partner, and both of them are trying to change for the better, Dash isn't going to let the toxic masculinity take over him like it did in the show. I also feel like Dobermon fits Dash more too, which was why we decided to use that form for Labramon's Champion form.

ZAFT: Glad you liked Dash going to save the village! That was probably one of the big culminations I enjoyed getting to. XD And it shows how much he has grown so far. :3

Now, with Sam, I'm glad you think we're developing her well. She has some issues still, but they are getting worked on. She is also learning she doesn't have to be right all the time, and it shows by her having to think about her words. :3

DarkFoxKit: Theodore was an unexpected antagonist character we created. Right now we don't have any major plans for him other than being a nuisance who can be surprisingly threatening at times. He's also kind of a representation of how most players are in the Digital World right now, as we don't want to show every player doing bad things with Digimon as we're already juggling way too many characters doing other things at once.

ZAFT: I have experience in juggling lots of characters, but even I can feel that strain a bit at times. ^^' But we will be using Theodore quite a bit, so this isn't the last time you'll see him~ :3

With Takuya and the gang going to face Megadramon, you will like the showdown that occurs~. XD

DarkFoxKit: Yeah, you'll probably get something like a split perspective thing, but we find it easier to focus on one and then the other, at least in this case. Which you will see soon.

The gang kinda fought with the players off-screen, but it was heavily implied they ran away from the players. The group weren't at their best right now, and these players are actually pretty strong.

ZAFT: You'd be surprised. XD We have a few surprises for that group, including who Sir Michael is, but that is all I am saying. :3 And yes, Kwan is lovable like that! X3

Son Sandy: ZAFT: First of all, glad you can review again! Second, the irony of Andy being psychic is funny, since he doesn't believe in that.

DarkFoxKit: Yeah, we didn't exactly make it subtle that Patamon would be Danny's partner (again in this case), so I was rather surprised we got some people commenting trying to guess who Danny's partner was going to be, and how a certain Digimon would fit Danny more due to his love for space. But the thing is, we're not giving Danny just any old Digimon. Not to mention I think Seraphimon also fits Danny's love for space, considering he uses stars as his main attack.

ZAFT: Andy and Danny with time and space… that is something to think about. That would be kinda cool if we did that. XD

DarkFoxKit: The irony that the twins have a connection to time and space too. No wonder Clockwork favors them both.

ZAFT: Yeah, Patamon trying to eliminate Danny is going to cause some tensions between them down the road, but it will be shown how that can change.

DarkFoxKit: I'm glad you're enjoying the interactions between Andy and Valerie. They work pretty well together. It was also something I felt with Danny and Valerie in canon, which is why I shipped them more than Danny and Sam.

ZAFT: Yes, Dash getting development is always fun. In this case, it makes sense too. And yeah, high school doesn't really work like that. Then again, Danny Phantom was a cartoon, so some stuff was expected to be exaggerated. ^^'

DarkFoxKit: But we live to make fun of, and poke holes, in those cartoon logic. XD We try to give each character their own time to shine and have some character development, but we'll be mainly focusing on the big 3 characters. 4, once a certain character makes their debut into the story, but for now it's Andy, Danny, and Takuya.

ZAFT: Sam getting development like that was fun to do. And I am so glad you liked the development and ending digivolution! XD

Yes, the twins underestimate themselves, but what can they do? They have genius parents and a genius sister. ^^'

DarkFoxKit: I'm also a fan of characters underestimating themselves, not really knowing how much potential they truly have. And yeah, Jazz interacting with her partner was cute, and I also thought Floramon was a good match with Jazz. I did think about giving Sam a Floramon before, but we decided to go with Biyomon in the end for Sam.

ZAFT: Takuya will get over his fear, but it's not going to be so easy. XD You will love the times he tries to use it until then~ X3

DarkFoxKit: We hope you'll continue to enjoy the story as it updates!
