Saga 2: Buck Destiny.
359 Galactic Standard Years. As of today, it had been 359 Galactic Standard Years, since the defeat of the Reapers... that was well over a thousand years, by the Earth Calender. With the Doctor traveling through time, for 42 Million years, by Earth's calendar
The Doctor sighed, he really was far too old... He didn't even calculate his age by years. But rather by regenerations... by his last count, as of today, each of his Core's 42 Bi-Generations, had Bi-Generated 42 times. With his Bi-Generations of Bi-Generations of Bi-Generations, having a total of 42 Bi-Generations between them.
42 was a Cosmic number, while it was not a prime number, it was the answer. The Answer to the very meaning of life. Whenever 42 popped up, for whatever reason... it meant the gods were interfering.
For their were 42 Cosmoses, in this Omni-Verse... and 42 Omni-Verses, at the edge of Reality.
The Doctor, being mortal, hadn't the foggiest idea why 42 was so significant. He just knew enough to realize it was.
And right now, the Doctor was 42 Million years old. This very day, in fact...
Something was going to happen today. There couldn't be a bigger warning cry from the fates.
The last time so many 42s popped up... Donna had chosen to die as she is, rather then go back to what she was. She had become the Doctor Donna... and the genocidal destroyer, that was the 10th Doctor Duplicate, had begun his campaign to "purify the universe of evil".
Two events of unfathomable consequence, occurred that day. With all the Doctors and their Companions... joining him to stop the Meta Crisis... It took 42 days of chasing after the trail of disintegrated planets and fleets.
With the Meta Crisis snuffing out the first world of so many violent races... preventing the births of trillions.
The Doctor wasn't able to save them, and it was horrifying to know the universe really was better off without these races.
But regardless, The Doctor found the Meta Crisis... and convinced him he'd done what he needed to, but now it was the Meta that was in danger of going too far. That now that he started, he wouldn't be able to stop at the worst worlds. He'd keep going
"Always some atrocity need preventing. Let's go kill Hitler, we'll only prevent all the medical knowledge gained, from those horrific experiments. Billions will suffer and die without the advancements those led to. but we can stop one of the cruelest Tragedies in human culture...
"So which will it be? Let millions die horrible deaths. Or let billions do the same. Because that's the role you've assigned yourself. You can decide who lives and who dies. You can force people to behave! Remove those that step out of line. You can be GOD!!!
"While I sure as hell don't want that responsibility. We help where we can. And where I can, is by making sure people like you. People so sure they are in the right, it blinds them to the horrors of the Holocaust. Without ever realizing their doing the same bloody thing!
"How many innocent children have you murdered? In your quest to stop them from becoming tyrants? Shall we count them!? Sorry, we can't, because the answer is ALL. All the Children. All the mothers, and fathers, and Kazoo players.
"Every life you did worse then steal. Your body count is in the billions of trillions!!!... and so many of them helpless babs from a time that never happened. From a time before their worlds even had concepts of evil.
"Congratulations, you stopped suffering for so many... now there's only one last tyrant to go."
The Doctor, as he had so many... convinced his Meta Crisis to take his own life... all while knowing perfectly well... What The Doctor wanted to do, so desperately, was exactly what this more human man had done... save the entirety of the universe, itself.
The Doctor blinked, as Hilda wandered into the TARDIS lounge. That playful, yet cruel, smirk on her face.
The Doctor put down his book, not that he was reading it anyway. His full attention on her... He'd failed this girl to. Not baring the thought of losing her, he gave her immortality... and so she had to watch her crew die, as she suffered in purgatory for a month. Constantly loading, trying to prevent the inevitable... until she gave up on preventing their death. And chose to rescue them from it... only to learn she was unable to...
Hilda wanted to save people, who didn't want to be saved... in other words, she pulled a Doctor. He had helped raise her. Was it any wonder she acted so selfishly.
"I'm sorry," The Doctor sighed. "This is all my fault."
Hilda rolled her eyes, knowing exactly what the Doctor was thinking. After all, she was raised by him... and then spent a thousand years, knowing him from an adult perspective.
"I grew up in a world, where everyone has longevity... I've taken lives, so I understood they weren't truly immortal... but this is the first time I've lost someone I love. Mortals, thanks to rejuve pods, can potentially survive indefinitely... but they can still die... and I never will. The universe will die, and I'll still be around."
"What do you want?" The Doctor asked. "What waits for you, at the Galactic Leyline, now that you can't force your siblings to come back to you?"
Hilda simply said, "My death." The Doctor choked, and Hilda rolled her eyes. "Relax, I'm not suicidal. I plan to live many more centuries... but I want the ability to die... I want the knowledge, that one day, I'll be reunited with my siblings. I want to grow old, live in all that mundane and glorious domestics... and die... Next time my ship blows up. I won't respawn on our station, as the rest of my crew floats to the afterlife. I can't go through that again."
Hilda got on her knees, in front of the Doctor's chair, and gently caressed his hands. "Thank you, for my life, I've had so many fun adventures... but I'm tired. I promise I won't go anywhere for a long time... but I need to know I'll see the people I love again... someday."
The Doctor realized, she wanted his blessing, maybe even his permission... to be human again.
"I'm sorry I forced this on you... on everyone..."
"You were tired of losing people." Hilda smiled. "I get that, and I did have 1000 years, of enjoying being a kick ass immortal. But the novelty has finally woren off. I'm ready... to rejoin the human race."
Hilda's com suddenly went off. Pressing the small jewel on her earring, Hilda gave an annoyed, "What is it?"
Her ship informed. "Two ships, 'The Leprechaun' and 'The Purgatory', have dropped out of Warp, outside of Blue Heaven. They want to meet."
Hilda gave a sad smile. As more of her mortal siblings arrived.
