Or to anyone, anywhere

Kagome caught herself before she just blurted out his name, "Lord Sesshomaru,"

He eyed the women, who backed away slightly before looking at Kagome.

"I see you have managed to survive,"

Kagome smiled. "I think im growing on your mother,"

He almost snorted, but the simple fact was she was. Kagome always had a way with demons, and he wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing. If she were anyone else, it would probably get her killed, but she wasn't anyone else.

"So, did you bring me and Rin anything back,"

"Rin has received her gift; if you wish to receive yours, you will need to go inside,"

"Wait, you didn't bring back a husband, right? Because clearly, your mother was joking," Though, with this clan, you could never be too sure.

"I am not a matchmaker," Not adding Miko to the end was harder than he thought it would be.

"Thank god for that," Kagome said under her breath,

"Inside," He told her again. She smiled, bowed, and went inside.

He turned to the women who now reside in his home.

Inside, Kagome found a chest full of things to help her prepare medications and ointments. It had to be expensive. His mother came in and watched with mild boredom as she sorted and placed it all in a cabinet.

"You are simple, aren't you, Miko,"

"Hey, I like shiny things just like the next girl, but in this time, this stuff is valuable,"

His mother seemed slightly confused by her use of words but didnt care enough to ask her to clarify.

"Sesshomaru better becare, or people are going to think he likes me," Kagome giggled,

"I like your person fine, Miko," He entered, making both women look at him.

"Thank you, by the way,"

"You brought fewer women than I thought you would, my son,"

"More does not always equal more," He told her,

He walked to Kagome's open balcony. His mother and Kagome followed suit and watched the woman below.

"So this is the best of the best?" His mother asked,

"They are all very pretty," Kagome added,

"Of course they are; why would they not be?"

Truth was, Kagome had never met too many full-fledged demons who weren't pretty.

"So, which one is your favorite?" Kagome asked,

"I do not favor any of them,"

Kagome raised an eyebrow. "Well, what made you choose these women over others?"

His mother shook his head. "Power, strength, bloodline, and wealth of line," She answered for him. "The best of the best, at least of what is left,"

Kagome blinked at his mother, then looked down at the women and then at him and he knew that look, oh did he know that look.

"Do pay attention, girl, because when it is your turn, it would benefit you to follow suit,"

Sesshomaru was not about to have this argument, and that's what was about to happen. He knew Kagome, but he also knew his mother.

He turned to leave.

"Where are you going now?" Kagome asked,

"Anywhere away from here," He told her. He decided he had way too many females right now and that anywhere would be better than here right now.

His mother wanted tradition; Kagome wanted a fairytale; he just wanted something simple. Had this been a few years ago, he would have just picked one. But time and death have changed him. Things that did not matter to him at one time did now.

He cared about who he gave his children to. Power and strength were not enough, especially since none of the women down there stood a chance against Kagome, and their wealth meant very little to him. As far as bloodlines went, his blood was the only one that mattered.

To bad there were no more female Inu's left. His bloodline rested in his hands, the future, if he wanted to change it, rested in his hands and so while he wanted to be anywhere but here, he knew he had to stay and find a mate.
