Chapter Four:
The Demon from The Television
A tree exploded outside the window as a lightning bolt rained down, and what remained of it burst into flames. The lightning strike startled Shroomy as he sat in the living room, but a comforting hand pat him gently on the shoulder, and he looked up into the milk-white, but kind face of the mushroom's aunt Alcina Dimitrescu.
"Shh, shh. It'll be okay, Shroomy." Alcina said in a loving manner, "We're safe inside, and the lightning won't hurt us."
"Thanks, Aunt Alcina." Shroomy hugged his aunt, then he and the tall, shapely vampire went back to watching an old 1930s monster movie that was playing on TV. It was one of the famous classics in all of cinema, and a very influential monster genre movie. The film starred an iconic late actor in the role of a monster, awakened by a mining expedition.
"Watch out!" One of the miners cried when he saw the creature, "It's coming this way!"
"Eep!" Alcina shivered, almost unnerved as the mine monster attacked the team.
"Golly gee!" Shroomy exclaimed, agreeing with his aunt.
"It's showtime!" A voice declared, cutting over the audio from the movie.
The movie suddenly vanished as the TV began shaking and shorting out. Alcina stood up, and walked over to the box to check the wiring, and kept her distance to avoid having her skin burnt by a spark. The screen had turned to static, and a funny testcard with the words Puzzlevision made an appearance, then the TV went back to unclear static.
"Funny, the TV seems to be working. It was probably the storm." Alcina remarked.
"And we're having quite the show."
Alcina looked at Shroomy with a raised eyebrow. "Did you say something?" She asked.
"I didn't say anything, Aunt Alcina, I think it came from the TV!" Shroomy replied.
A weird high-pitched beep noise emitted from the TV, and Alcina picked up the remote. She pressed the off button, which didn't do anything. Alcina repeatedly tapped the button, and her eyes widened with surprise as her action did nothing. Another eerie laugh emitted from the TV, and she stepped back, her fingers quickly forming into claws.
Shroomy stood up, his eye on the TV as it made more strange noises. The PUZZLEVISION test card appeared again, then creepy faces started to appear on the screen, followed by the strange static. The TV suddenly began glowing in an odd manner, and Shroomy gulped. Why was it acting so funny?
"I have a bad feeling about this." He whimpered.
"A bad feeling?" A voice intoned, "Why can't it be a good feeling, when it's time to start the show?!"
Alcina's three daughters Bela, Cassandra, and Daniela, who looked terrifying as they were beautiful to their mother as usual, ran into the room with worry in their near-vampiric eyes. As Shroomy noticed them, he breathed slowly to avoid unleashing his original demon-hunting self, knowing well those three were his cousins.
"Mother, we are hearing eerie voices and whimpers of fear!" Bela exclaimed, "Is everything alright?"
"We're fine, daughters." Alcina assured her offspring, "It's only the storm and the TV acting in a very strange manner."
"What is that?!" Daniela yelled, pointing to the TV screen.
Shroomy let out a shriek of horror. A face had just appeared on the screen out of the static, and it was flashing an eerie smile, with rainbow teeth. The face briefly morphed into a TV with a smiley face for a screen, then it flipped back into the eerie face that filled the entire screen.
"Its showtime with Mr. Puzzles!" The creature in the TV proclaimed in a sing-song voice, "And you're a guest in my show, Shroomy, just like in the last two that I did. You can't escape, can't escape show biiiiiiz."
"DEMON IN THE TV!"
His mind slipped away, replaced by the entity that was the mindset of his old demon-hunting self. Shroomy's red visage vanished, overtaken by the purple texture of his pre-87 bite days. Anti-Shroomy whipped out a gun, and opened fire on the TV, blasting it the screen to pieced. However, it seemed the strange entity was not done yet.
Time came to a stand-still, and the TV suddenly repaired itself as if Anti-Shroomy had never pulled the trigger. The TV floated into the air, and moved towards the mushroom. Alcina and her daughters were frozen, unable to move, and the boy scout/demon hunter primed his gun once more, only for gloved hands to grab him.
"LET ME GO, YOU BASTARD!" Shroomy yelled.
"We're just starting. And you'll be in the show... forever!" The TV Adware sneered.
An odd smell filled Shroomy's nostrils, and in thirty seconds time, the mushroom fainted as his normal personality overcame the old one. A strange song filled Shroomy's ears, right as he fainted, and Mr. Puzzles began to laugh...
