"Lucky To Have You"
Tori and Jade have the night to themselves while Tori's parents are out at a party, and the two decide to go to a party they were invited to. Jade is in a funk, and is determined to have fun, while encouraging Tori to step out of her comfort zone.
AN: Hey all, Happy St. Patrick's Day. My weekend has been good so far as we have started birthday season in my family. My dad on the 16th and my niece on the 17th. I can't believe she's 5 already! Tell these children to stop growing! Anyway, I hope you all are having a good holiday, here's another chapter, and celebration with our girls.
Tori is in her living room, reading a book while waiting for Jade to come over. Her parents have gone out to a St. Patrick's Day party with her Aunt Sonja, leaving Tori and Jade to have the evening to themselves. This day felt like more of a big deal when Tori was in elementary school. All of the kids would search their classroom for the hidden leprechaun, while also getting to have those chocolate gold coins. Now with not being old enough to drink, and enjoy what her parents do about the holiday, it seemed like pretty much a normal day. As long as she got to spend time with her girlfriend, that's all that mattered. Soon Jade came to the door, and Tori greeted her with a kiss. Tori sat on the couch, while asking Jade about her day.
"How was it seeing your dad?"
"You know, the usual." Jade shrugged.
Jade plopped down next to Tori, not looking up at her, while pulling out her scissors and trimmed the ends of her hair. Tori scooted closer, laying an arm around the other girl's shoulder.
"Everything okay?" Tori asks.
Jade huffs. "Yeah, yeah I guess so, I don't really want to talk about it."
Tori offered Jade a smile, bouncing around to face her. Her girlfriend's excited plop made Jade bounce up with her, and she couldn't help but laugh. This is where she really wanted to be so Jade tried to focus on that.
"So what do you want to do tonight? We could order pizza and watch "The Leprechaun" if you want." Tori suggested.
"Hmm…no, I think I'd rather go out tonight. There's a party that Jason, from our theater class is having. Could be fun to check it out."
"I don't know…" Tori pondered. "I don't really want to hang out with people drinking." Tori told her.
"It's okay, you don't have to. I might have a little something." Jade told her, with Tori raising an eyebrow. "I won't get plowed, I promise."
"I know, I trust you." Tori said, and Jade sat closer wrapping her arms around Tori.
"I just really need to get out of the house, and not think about my family tonight. Also I really want to have some fun out with you. What do you say? Should we do it?" Jade asked, with a pleading look.
Tori looks back to Jade, who is resting her chin on her girlfriend's shoulder, and nuzzling into her cheek. All of it was too much for Tori to resist.
"Fine." Tori answered, being met with a squeeze from Jade.
They still had two hours before the party started, so the two had dinner and watched a movie before heading out. Tori was honestly looking forward to branching out, and doing things she wouldn't normally.
When they arrived at the party, there were already plenty of cars parked outside, as Tori and Jade made their way up the driveway. Music could be heard vibrating the walls all inside the house, and everyone was embracing their green with people wearing big green top hats, sunglasses, and green beaded necklaces. Jade took Tori's hand, leading her toward where the drinks were, and she grabbed herself a beer, while handing Tori a water. At the same time, the two of them saw Beck grabbing a beer, before stopping to say 'hi'.
"Hey, you guys made it."
"Yeah, thought we'd check it out for awhile." Jade told him.
"Didn't expect to see you here, Tori."
Tori squinted at her friend a bit confused, taking a sip of her water before speaking up.
"Why wouldn't you expect to see me?"
"Well ya know, it's a party. I didn't think it was really your scene. Plus Jason's parties can get pretty wild." Beck explained.
"Hey, I can be fun when I want to." Tori said, bumping Beck's shoulder. "Right Jade?"
Beck looked back at Jade for confirmation.
"Oh yeah, she's a real party animal." Jade said, pulling Tori in close to her.
Beck laughed while opening his beer, and offering to help Jade with hers.
"Okay, well when some more of the guys get here, we're gonna start a beer pong game if either of you want to join."
"I'll play!" Tori said, quickly raising her hand.
"Are you sure? That game can get people pretty drunk." Jade told Tori.
"It's okay, I'll only play one game. Besides, you never know, we might win anyway."
Beck nodded, leaning in closer to them.
"I mean I am pretty good, so she's got a good teammate for this."
"Just be careful, Baby." Jade said, pulling Tori close and kissing her cheek.
The game wasn't ready to start yet, so Tori and Jade took their drinks, and sat on the empty loveseat in the living room. Tori took this opportunity to talk more with Jade about her dad.
"So, did something happen between you and your dad? You seemed really upset when you came over."
Jade took a big sip of beer, letting out a huff, before looking up at Tori.
"Look, can we just talk about something else?"
"Like what?" Tori asked.
"Like why you really want to play beer pong."
"Because I've never played before, and it looks like fun."
"Really? It has nothing to do with Beck insinuating that you're not a party girl?"
Tori took both of Jade's shoulders to further explain her point.
"I just don't want to be afraid to try some things that are different. I don't want to go through life after graduating, and feel like life has passed me by because I never took a risk, and had fun."
"You know you don't have to get drunk at a party to do that. You could…I don't know, go bungee jumping or we could get tattoos together."
Tori laughed, laying both her arms over Jade's shoulders, and resting on her forehead.
"Well there'll be plenty of time for that. Right now I just want to play one drinking game with some friends. I swear I'll slow down after that. Deal?"
"Okay deal." Jade nods.
"So do you want to be on a team with me and Beck when we play beer pong?" Tori asked.
"No, it's cool. I'll hang back and be your cheerleader."
With that statement Tori started laughing, and Jade looked puzzled.
"Now that I'd like to see. You, in one of those cheer outfits, waving your pom poms." Tori snickered.
"Haha, I would rather die." Jade retorted.
Soon Beck came up behind them, with Tori turning to face him.
"Everybody's here. We can start the game."
"Great, come on!" Tori said, excitedly pulling Jade behind her.
They made their way over to where the ping pong table was set up, with Beck and Tori having the first shot. Beck bounced his ball off the table making it in one of the cups, and their opponents had to drink from two of their cups. After that a ball made it in on Beck and Tori's side, and Beck decided to drink first. The game went back and forth for awhile with a few misses until the opposing team made it in on a bounce, and Beck picked up two cups, handing one to Tori. The beer wasn't bad, but still a little bitter for Tori's liking. Fortunately she was able to hide the disgust on her face by tipping the cup all the way back.
Even though she didn't like the beer, Tori was still having fun playing the game, and seeing Jade cheer her on. There was still a few more cups to go with six on Beck and Tori's side, and four on their opponents side, with Beck calling for a re-rack. The cups were arranged in a square before Beck bounced his ball in.
"Oh, two more! Drink!" Beck shouted.
On their opponent's turn they missed, and then Tori was surprised when Beck handed the ball to her.
"Okay, you've got this. If you can get this ball in on a bounce, we win." Beck told her.
"I don't know. I have missed a lot."
"You can do this; I know you can." Beck reassured her.
Tori took a deep breath, stared straight at the two cups left, while counting in her head. She went for her bounce, and made it in. The room applauded, Tori cheered, and Beck hugged her with one arm around her waist.
"We won!" Tori said to Jade, wrapping her in a hug.
"Nice job, Baby."
"I'm so glad we did this tonight." Tori whispered to her.
A couple of guys come up behind the girls in the midst of their hug.
"Hey Tori, have a celebratory shot with us." One of them said, handing her a shot glass.
Tori looked back to Jade, who gave her a nod, and she downed the shot, still cringing a bit at the taste, but happy to celebrate her victory.
"Alright, how about one more?"
"Oh, I really shouldn't." Tori told him, before getting a nudge from Jade.
"It's cool, go ahead."
"You think?"
"Yeah, you're having fun." Jade said.
"Okay, I'll just do one more." Tori said, accompanying the guys into the kitchen.
Jade stayed leaning on the wall while she finished her beer before opening another one. Soon she was met by a sudden swatch of green that brushed across her nose as Beck placed his tophat on Jade's head. She laughed at him while adjusting her new accessory.
"Thanks."
"My pleasure, it looks good on you." Beck laughed. "You guys having fun?"
"Yeah, I think this is a night out we both needed." Jade told him.
Beck stood next to Jade on the wall, tilting his head towards her.
"Everything going okay?"
"Eh ya know, typical family stuff." Jade said.
"Typical, like with your dad?"
"It's fine. I'm not worried about it." Jade sighed. "It's whatever."
Beck nudged Jade's shoulder, earning a laugh from her.
"Hey, you're a great girl; do you know that? You're smart and talented…and when you want to be, I guess you're pretty sweet too."
"You guess?" Jade asked, playfully shoving him.
"You are. Tori's lucky to have you."
"Stop." Jade grinned, while looking at the floor. "I think I'm the one who's lucky to have her."
Out of nowhere, Jade feels someone jump on her back, but soon discovers it's Tori when she feels her lips on her cheek.
"Oh, I love this song! Dance with me, pleeeease!"
Jade shut her eyes, taken aback by the alcohol on her breath.
"Woah Babe, how much have you had to drink?"
"Let's just say one celebratory shot became…uh, about four." Tori laughed. "Come on, let's go dance."
Tori bounced up and down while dragging Jade with her onto the dancefloor.
Tori started to dance with Jade,
while Jade took Tori's arm, twirling her around a bit, making her smile. Jade never liked to dance much unless it was for a play, but only Tori could get her to dance in public. It always had her girlfriend happy and laughing, and for Jade that was a good enough reason to do it. She twirled Tori again, this time pulling her in, and Tori wrapped her arms around Jade, nuzzling into her neck.
"I love you." Tori whispered.
"I love you, too." Jade responded, kissing her cheek.
Tori was soon stumbling, and Jade helped her stand up. The two of them stood still while Tori attempted to regain her equilibrium.
"You okay?" Jade asked.
"I think I'm starting to feel the alcohol."
"Okay, let's go outside, and get some air."
Jade held onto Tori, walking her out onto the front porch, where as soon as the night air hit her, she started to throw up in the bushes. Jade held up Tori's hair, and rubbed her back while Tori emptied her stomach. After she was finished, Jade pulled Tori down to her lap, and sat there stroking her hair.
"I'm sorry." Tori uttered. "I didn't mean to get this messed up. I was stupid."
"It's okay. You've been having fun."
"But I wanted to have more fun with you. I should have slowed down."
Jade leaned down to kiss the top of Tori's head.
"I am having fun with you. We were dancing pretty good out there; remember?"
Tori laughed, twirling a strand of Jade's hair that was hanging in front of her.
"Yeah, you look beautiful when you dance."
"So do you." Jade smiled.
Jade held Tori closer while Tori nuzzled into her arm. They both sat quietly looking up at the stars, still being able to hear the music coming from the house.
"We never did get to talk about your dad. What did he say to you?" Tori asked.
"It's no big deal."
"Tell me. Please?" Tori said, taking Jade's hand.
"He said by my senior year, he thought I would have grown up by now, and that he didn't expect me to still be messing around, making movies." Jade explained, shaking her head. "I guess I have to accept that he'll never understand who I am."
Jade continued to stroke Tori's hair, as Tori looked up from Jade's lap, reaching to brush her hair away. She then wrapped her arm around Jade's neck, pulling her down to kiss her cheek as she whispered in her ear.
"You know I'm always your biggest fan, right?"
"I know you are." Jade smiled.
"You're gonna do great things one day, and then it won't matter what any naysayers think."
Jade nodded while Tori hugged Jade tighter.
"I'm proud of you. I hope you know that." Tori told her.
"Thanks Babe."
Jade sat Tori up, fixing her hair while Tori smiled back at her.
"I think we've had enough partying for tonight. What do you say we head back?"
"I'm good with that." Tori said.
Jade led Tori to her car, and they rode home, holding hands the whole time. Aside from Tori getting sick after a little too much celebration, their night out was a good time. It was exactly what Jade needed to get out of her funk, and she enjoyed more than anything seeing Tori smile and have fun. She would have to dance in public some more if it meant getting Tori to try some new things herself. This relationship has brought out the best in both of them, getting the other one to branch out while also having someone who will always listen. Even while drunk, Tori knew the right thing to say to make Jade feel loved, and let her know that she was always on her side. If her luck continued to be this good, Jade was determined to make Tori always feel the same.
