Eddie turned over in the bed she shared with Jamie. It felt so weird sharing a bed in a room in a house that was not their own. Cracking her eyes open, she looked at Jamie, who was also awake. He looked at her and ran a thumb over her cheek.

"Is your back bothering you again?"

Eddie nodded and scooted as close to Jamie as she could get, her enormous belly separating the two of them. Closing her eyes, she felt Jamie's fingers work their magic on her lower back.

"Ooh, Jamie, right there. I think that knot's been there for days. Ouch."

Jamie stopped his massaging and winced, apologizing.

"I'm sorry babe. Does that hurt? Too hard?"

Eddie shook her head no and grabbed for his hand and placed it back against her lower back.

"Nope. You're doing just fine bub. Keep going. Once you get that knot out of my back, I think I'll be able to sleep. Now if only our son would quit using my bladder as a punching bag, I could actually lie here without having to pee every five minutes or less."

Giving her a sympathetic smile, Jamie placed a tender kiss to her belly and then rubbed it.

"Patrick, bud, you're making your mom very uncomfortable."

Jamie's hand followed Patrick's tiny foot across Eddie's belly. Eddie gave a slight laugh and then let out a groan.

"Ooh Patrick, baby boy, please stop."

Jamie, stopping moving his hand, he tapped his index finger against Eddie's belly.

"Hey in there baby boy, mommy is trying to sleep. How about we get some sleep for a least a little while."

Eddie sighed as the thumping against her belly ceased.

"That's better. How'd you do that bub?"

Jamie ran a hand over her belly and then pulled the blankets over her more.

"He knows the sound of my voice. He knows both of our voices."

The moonlight was streaming through the partly open curtain over the window, and he could see the worry etched on Eddie's face.

"How are we going to fix up the house Jamie? I can't believe someone would just come and break in and trash the place."

Jamie ran a hand over her cheek and kissed her forehead.

"The rest of the family has already come together to help us out. You have nothing to worry about."

Eddie's eyes grew wide with surprise.

"Jamie, how much is all this going to cost us?"

Jamie waved a hand at her and then ran it through her blond locks.

"The family's got it covered Ed. Now, let's get some sleep before Princess Cora wakes up and asks for daddy."

Eddie snorted a little and leaned her forehead against Jamie's.

"I wish I could get closer to you babe. Patrick seems to take up all the space these days."

Jamie kept his forehead against Eddie's.

"I know you don't mean that Ed. We're almost to the end and I know your worried. Patrick has made it through a lot in the last several months. He's strong and healthy. So, Danny has a bet that says Patrick will be a week past due."

He saw Eddie's face pale.

"Tell him, hell no."

Jamie shook his head and kept the smile on his face.

"I never said he'd win that bet. I'm not betting. This is our baby. He's due in six weeks. We've still got a ways to go. Now let's get a little more sleep."

Eddie woke to a thin stream of sunlight coming in through the curtain covering the window. The spot next to her where Jamie slept was cold. Stretching, she slowly sat up and got to her feet with the help of the side table. Padding out of the bedroom in her robe, she made her way to the bathroom and shut the door. Placing her palms on the countertop, she looked at her reflection in the mirror.

"Do I really look that bad? Jamie thinks I'm glowing? I don't see it…"

A knock on the door startled her out of her thoughts and she heard Jamie's voice on the other side of the closed door.

"Ed honey, are you ok in there?"

Eddie let out a frustrated breath and wiped the sleep from her eyes, then answered.

"I'm fine Jamie. You can open the door."

Slowly opening the bathroom door, Jamie entered. Closing it, he looked at her still concerned. Eddie let out another frustrated sigh.

"Why does everything have to be so sensitive? Every time I turn around, these seem to get bigger."

Jamie looked at her as she gestured towards herself.

"Your body is going through a lot Eddie. I know you know that. It's a big job growing another human being inside you. But you know that too. Ok, I'm going to shut up now. You look hungry. Do you want some breakfast? Pop's is in the kitchen feeding Cora."

Jamie's last comment put a smile on Eddie's face.

"Pop does spoil her. But Cora does love spending time with him. Let me just get changed into something a little more comfortable. Will you help me?"

Jamie felt a smile tugging at the sides of his mouth.

"Of course. Aren't you glad we took the spare bedroom on the bottom floor? After all, you really shouldn't be climbing the stairs at this late a stage in your pregnancy."

Eddie nodded and sat down on their shared temporary bed.

"I know. Can you grab me some sweatpants from the dresser over there? Thanks. I can put those on, but can you help me put on my fuzzy socks? I can't see over my belly to put them on."

Eddie sat on the edge of the bed and watched as Jamie helped put her socks on her feet.

"That better babe?"

Eddie gave Jamie a radiant smile and ran a hand through his dark hair.

"Yup. Thanks bub. Can you help me up? I noticed only recently I can't get up without help. Kind of annoying actually. Oh no. He's decided to sit on my bladder again."

Jamie sympathized with her and helped her up. He watched her disappear into the bathroom. Sitting on the edge of the bed, he waited for her to come back. It was at least 5 minutes before he saw the bathroom door open, and an annoyed looking Eddie come back into the bedroom.

"I think I'm getting a UTI."

Jamie stood up and put a hand on Eddie's back.

"Let's get you some cranberry juice. Some of that and keep drinking lots of water."

Eddie gave another annoyed sigh and nodded.

"Like I don't drink enough water as it is. What's for breakfast? We're starving."

Jamie led Eddie out of the bedroom and towards the dining room. Sitting at the table was a fresh and hot breakfast waiting on a plate for Eddie. Plastering a playful smile on his face, he placed one of the dinner napkins they used for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter over his forearm, he bowed slightly towards Eddie.

"My name is Jamie and I'll be your waiter today. What would you like to drink Mrs. Reagan?"

Eddie played along and put her napkin in her lap once Jamie pulled her chair out and helped her sit down.

"I would like a glass of cranberry juice please. Half a cup of orange juice and some water please."

Jamie nodded and went into the kitchen to get her drinks. When he returned, he found her digging into her plate of egg whites and chicken. It was what she told pop she'd had a craving for. He knew how to please her when it came to food. Placing her drinks on the table, he whispered in her ear.

"Family sticks together Ed. Everyone is chipping in to fix up our house. Don't waste another minute worrying over it. We'll get through this."

With that, Jamie gave a kiss to the side of her neck and sat down next to her, watching her eat. Looking both ways to make sure no one was looking, he pulled his phone from his pocket.

"Look at this babe. Pop and Cora are having a nap in the sunroom."

Eddie put down her fork and gushed over the photo.

"Aww. That's adorable Jamie. We should get it framed. Don't let dad or pop see you with your phone at the table."
