RWBY 40k fanfiction – Salem, mistress of Inquisition.
Ep 1 (Revised): Arrival on a rotten planet.
We are at the end of the 26th millennium.
Humanity as we know it is in the grip of crisis and regression. The time of the Golden Age of Technology is over. With millions and millions of planets isolated from one another, struggling to survive in a cruel universe.
The human race is threatened on all sides by the xenos races.
But one of them is entirely different.
In a hidden sector in the Galaxy, hidden from view in a system isolated from everything.
There is a green and blue planet, also home to humans but humans, unlike other human planets, have no connection with Old Terra.
Humans similar in every way to the humans of Terra. From the smallest cell to the genes. But whose spirit was then never present in the dimension of emotions and souls that is the warp.
This for a simple reason: these humans were created from scratch.
Two twin gods whose role is to spread life are at the origin. They made this world a beautiful and fertile planet.
Whose harmony between humans and them would span eternity.
But that would be forgetting that all their fellows from Terra. Humans can turn against authority at any given opportunity.
This was the case on that fateful day marking the first of the 27th millennium.
An immortal cursed by the twins united the people of this planet in hatred against the twin gods. To take revenge for now having an existence without meaning and without a future.
The immortal who was a young girl with golden hair and lapis-sapphire eyes stood in front of the twins. The dust of the treacherous humans flew in the wind after being destroyed by the paw of the Dark God.
If the latter was obviously angry at this betrayal of this gravity. It wasn't much compared to his brother of light's resentment against the one she betrayed.
God of Light: "I have seen creatures who opposed us for a thousand and one reasons. I have seen traitors since the time of the Old Ones. But no one to this day has could have led an entire race to this path of treachery."
Dark God: "What are you going to do?"
God of Light (turns to the woman): "Salem! Traitor of the gods and of life itself! You will suffer the punishment that you deserve above all. Be banished from this planet to a world of corruption and violence! You will only return when you have learned the seriousness of your crimes and without help from us!"
Salem listened in horror to the words of these gods and began to panic.
Salem: "No... Nonononono... No!"
But it was too late to beg, a portal opened behind her and sucked her into a tunnel of light.
Salem: "AAAAAHHHHH!"
She fell into this gigantic labyrinth of light made of tunnels of varying sizes.
Then after a few moments inside, she came out the other side.
She was in space but fell straight on a very yellow planet. A planet covered in deserts while its poles were covered in ice.
Salem immediately understood that she was going to find herself on a terrible planet.
Salem tried to scream but the void prevented her.
After a while, she entered the atmosphere and began to burn.
Salem felt the pain of this burning, unable to express it through her mouth, could not bear it.
After falling into the mesosphere and entering the stratosphere.
It had slowed considerably, still falling fast but no longer burning. Her charred body reconstituted itself as if nothing had happened.
The air was still thin and she couldn't scream but all the terror showed on her face.
She could see more clearly that an immense desert awaited her, her new prison.
After an interminable fall, she arrived straight at a gigantic stone desert and crashed very heavily.
Her body exploded into bloody pieces in all directions, falling to the ground.
For a while the situation remained like this. But as always, her body reconstituted itself and Salem reappeared unharmed.
She could see everywhere the immensity of the stone desert all around her, all under a pale sun.
She cried tears of terror and frustration.
Salem: "No... No! Nooooo! NOOOOO!"
She screamed, her voice filled with pain and frustration before hitting the ground repeatedly with her fists. Her fists were so strong and imbued with magic that they shattered the rocks and caused cracks around her.
After a long time of screaming and hitting. Salem was mentally tired by all this and fainted because the emotional shock was so immense.
Sometime later... she woke up under another day of the same pale sun.
Salem looked around and her eyes widened.
Salem: "It's a nightmare... It's not possible..."
She began to walk across this immense desert. Of which only her thoughts of terror mixed with frustration and despair were in her head.
She walked for a long time over this immense desert, for days and nights. Pursuing an unknown path. All under the hot desert wind.
Her gaze was anxious and full of fear but little by little became duller and duller.
After countless days of walking, her mind had stopped thinking. Salem continued to wander aimlessly.
But finally, one of those days.
She saw a trail of smoke coming in front of her.
It was a huge convoy of iron vehicles that she had not seen and which did not appear to be drawn by horses.
The convoy arrived in front of her and people came out.
She couldn't believe it, other humans. But while her hope was dawning. Salem had a vision of horror when they approached her.
They were deformed men, with body parts mutated or replaced with articulated iron limbs.
But their look showed that the barbarians of this world did not want good for Salem.
Salem (with a hoarse voice): "No... don't come near me..."
The barbarians spoke among themselves in an unknown language but the tone used was clear that they were doing something to her.
Salem was moving backwards as they moved forward.
Finally, Salem, overcome with terror, lit her magic balls.
Salem: "Leave me! Leave me alone!"
She threw them at the unfortunate barbarians who were killed by the explosion of the first ball of magic while the second hit the vehicle, the latter exploded in a large explosion, throwing Salem several dozen meters back.
She got up after a while and could see what was left of the vehicle burning, emitting a huge black cloud.
Salem shed tears of frustration before continuing on her way, moving away from the raiders' vehicle.
Years passed and Salem wandered in this planet called Terra.
A planet which was the original world of these humans it seems. But what frightened her was the fact that this desert planet was populated by techno-barbarian empires who wage war against each other.
The population suffered from hunger, thirst, disease and their deformed bodies.
Salem, for her part, suffered from this unhealthy atmosphere. Feeling more alone than ever in a world she doesn't know and doesn't understand.
She came to deeply hate the twin gods and unleashed her rage against those who wronged her. All the while continuing to wander aimlessly.
Over the years, this rage turned into despair.
Salem despaired of living in this hell where she saw this absolute misery in the hive cities and the villages of the poor.
Her beautiful appearance from another time and another world attracted the desires of these miserable people who wanted to possess a beauty just for themselves.
Which pushed her to isolate herself from the rest of the world.
After almost a millennium of wandering in this hell.
Salem came to a valley with mounds and other hills of stones cut into points.
A small isolated valley in which she decided to take pieces of stone and put them together to make a stone cabin.
Her gaze was dull, lifeless, without vitality and her face was void of emotion.
She mechanically made this little stone cabin before locking herself inside after days of construction.
She stayed like that for countless days, motionless in a corner. Her mind stops functioning, thinking of nothing.
Suddenly she felt something.
She sniffed, it smelled like apples.
A foul but recognizable smell.
She got up and opened her cabin door. She followed the scent down a path.
A path that led her to a village of deformed villagers.
A village with a plantation of pale apple trees with desaturated red apples.
She was too hungry and in front of all the villagers.
Salem: "Give me that crate! I'm hungry!"
She aimed her magic ball at the villagers, scaring them. One of them gave them a crate of apples. Salem took it before fleeing towards his valley.
She locked herself in her cabin.
She opened the crate, revealing piles of apples.
Salem with a predatory look and saliva flowing from her mouth, admired this vision. Her gaze reflected her deplorable mental state.
Salem: "Mine... just mine..."
She greedily ate these apples.
This situation lasts for the last centuries of the 27th Millenium. Salem terrorizing the villagers and punishing them for disrespecting her, refusing to give a create of apples or anything it could frustrate her.
Then the 28th millenium arrived.
As this millennium began.
A terrible war was raging between the Pan-Pacific Empire and Ursh. Ursh claimed control of the region north of the hive city of Hongol and plundered the area.
Inside the Pan-Pacific Empire.
Martial law was in order.
An inspector from Dictator Narthan Dume was in a village, taking inventory of the inhabitants.
It was recognizable by its cybernetic parts and a computer plugged into its head. He also had a huge iron bag, several weapons, and mechanical arms.
Inspector: "345, 346, 347, 348, 349... the count is good."
The old chief of the village, recognizable by his long beard and his non-existent arm because of the mutations approached him.
The Village Chief: "I think you forgot someone."
Inspector: "Which one?"
The Village Chief: "The Maiden Witch."
The mutated villagers are surprised at the request.
Villager 1: "Are you crazy?"
Villager 2: "Don't go into her territory! We are dealing with a monster!"
Inspector: "Who are you talking about?"
Village Chief: "She is a woman who is said to have a beauty worthy of the Old Times. However, she haunts the Valley of Stone Teeth and all who venture there have fallen victim to her... Suffering punishments worse than death. At certain times, like... (counts on her malformed fingers) ... 4 moons ago. She came to the village and took a whole crate of fruit."
Inspector: "Hm... Thanks for letting me know. I'm going to see that witch and let her know that we don't disturb order in the all-powerful Pan-Pacific Empire."
Villager 1: "But don't go there! You will lose your life there!"
Inspector: "It's her life she will lose. It has been two cycles since I purged vermin. Your village will be quiet when I return."
The inspector left the village and took a stone path for long hours. He climbed the hills of bare rocks. Then he discovered in the distance, a small cabin made of rocks.
Silence was in the valley. No wind was blowing.
He walked slowly towards the hut. He could hear noises coming from inside.
Three meters from the house, this noise was characteristic of someone crunching something in their teeth.
He arrived at the door and saw that it was open.
He waited before finally pushing her aside and stepping inside.
Inside, he could see some sheets of papers, books but also a table, a kind of stone kitchen, a bed, and other things.
But at the back of the house was a figure. A Salem with disheveled blonde hair, wearing a dirty white dress and her other accessories that are old and rusty. But her body itself was healthy. The blonde hair was shiny.
But despite this, a stuffy atmosphere was in the room.
The woman was with her back to her desk, eating the apples in the crate. Deformed, shriveled apples whose color was desaturated. Despite the fetid smell that emanated from them, she ate them.
The inspector after watching this spectacle, took his bolter from his back and pointed it at her.
Inspector: "Maiden Witch of Stone Teeth Valley. Cease your activity and surrender in the name of the Pan-Pacific Empire."
The woman in question then stopped taking apples. She chewed the rest before spitting out the core.
Salem: "I've said it countless times..."
She turned around violently, knocking over her chair.
Salem: "... don't come into my house!"
She opened her hand and a ball of light formed in her palm.
The inspector was surprised to see her face to face. This woman had a very shining beauty, untouched by mutations.
But her gaze and expression were enraged, the woman's blue irises surrounded by veins, injected with frustration, excitement, and uncontrolled rage. The inspector understood that he was dealing with a woman whose behavior was probably unstable. But no matter, vermin like that, he killed thousands.
Inspector: "Follow me calmly out of the house, so that I can complete the inventory of the Village of Rocks."
Salem: "Get out... Get out! Get out or I will kill you!"
Inspector: "No."
Salem: "RAAAAAHHH!"
She threw her ball of energy at the Inspector who narrowly avoided, tearing open the wall behind him and causing a large hole in the stone wall.
He exits the house through the door, just before the door is destroyed, revealing the witch with an expression of pure rage.
She threw multiple energy balls at the Inspector who dodged and responded with bolter shots that pierced the witch's body.
However, much to the inspector's surprise: the wounds closed quickly, leaving nothing from the bolter bullets.
Inspector: "What? It is one of those immortal mutants. Alright... Witch, you'll take a one-way ticket to Hongol."
Salem: "Never!"
She launched a beam of energy towards the inspector but who again narrowly avoided, taking an electrical wound on the side.
He then had an idea.
He fired again, emptying his bolter magazine into the woman, piercing her in all directions.
He then threw his weapon at her before picking up his sword.
But to his surprise, the woman reached out, stopping the weapon in mid-air. The weapon deforms before becoming an iron spike. She sent hit towards the inspector who avoided him before he charged towards her.
He threw his sword but she caught it with her hands.
Salem: "You can't beat me!"
He electrified the sword, the inspector tensed in pain but did not release his grip. Finally, one of his hands hit the woman's head and shattered it. The body fell to the ground.
The inspector dropped his weapon before taking an iron bottle, opening it, and pouring a green liquid on it, cauterizing his wounds. He did the same with his wound on the side.
He saw that the woman's head was beginning too slowly regenerate.
He then took handcuffs in the form of Adamantium balls, he tied his hands with them. He then put chains on her legs, before putting armor plates on her, enclosing her body in a metal prison.
He entered the house and inspected the papers and books. He saw that these books were works containing precious knowledge dating back to ancient times.
He thought of the fat reward he was being offered at Hongol.
Like what, victory is offered to the deserving.
He took the books and the sheets, put them in his bag before leaving the house.
He took the woman's body completely regenerated but passed out. His mechanical arms took her before immobilizing her behind her back and chaining her to him.
Several hours later...
Village Head: "You did it! Praise be to Narthan Dume!"
Inspector: "My inspection is over. Also, the crate of apples is in the witch's house. All that remains is to retrieve it."
Villager 1: "Yes! We can eat!"
The crowd was filled with joy and celebrated the victory over the Witch.
The inspector meanwhile left the village without a word.
Leaving for the unknown with his precious delivery.
After a few hours of walking in the stone desert.
He felt something wiggle behind him.
Salem(choked): "HHHMMMM! HMMM!"
Inspector: "Silence. I told you that I would take you back to Hongol. You would have a much more rhythmic life in the city."
Salem: "HMM! HMM!"
Out of the corner of his eye, the inspector could see Electric Arcs escaping from the iron balls enclosing the witch's hands.
Inspector: "You can't escape. These Adamantium balls resist your mutant powers."
The woman attempts to use her powers but only manages to move a little. Then finally, her movements cease and crying is heard.
Salem(crying): "Hmm! Hmm! Hm... Hmmm!"
The inspector ignores them and the woman cries for a long time during the journey before finally becoming silent.
The inspector for his part was still walking, fatigue, sleep, hunger were concepts unknown to him. To be an inspector is to be freed from the afflictions of a body of flesh that rots over the ages. He could do his job as he always did.
Finally, he arrived in a large plain, borrowed more and more by patched vehicles, mutated animals where in the distance, a gigantic city piercing the sky and covering several kilometers could be seen.
It was Hongol, the City of Jade. Capital of the Almighty Pan-Pacific Empire.
He arrived at the great gates, the people who saw him bowed before him, showing the respect of an Inspector of Narthan Dume.
He climbed the steps of heaven for whole hours, passing little by little from the houses of the destitute, towards the houses of the average tradesmen and craftsmen, to finally arrive at the noble buildings.
Finally, he came to a large building. A richly decorated tower.
He entered it and could see a man with multiple mechanical arms, with half of his face covered in cybernetic parts.
The Inspector placed the books and sheets on the desk.
Man: "Inspector Fatmos? What is it?"
Inspector: "Precious books."
The Man at the desk analyzed the books and sheets.
The Man: "Type 8 information. Extremely valuable. Price set at nearly 800,000 Golden Skulls. Inspector, transfer the money to your personal storage."
The bureaucrat took the books and put them on a table behind.
The inspector left the premises before going around the floor.
He came to a large building, covered in gold.
He entered it and came across a woman covered in cybernetic parts.
Woman: "Yes?"
Inspector: "Inspector Fatmos. Found a type 5 witch."
The Woman analyzed the prisoner.
Woman: "I see. Follow me."
She got out of the table and accompanied the inspector to the black cells. She opened a cell and the inspector put the woman in the cell and the bureaucrat tied her up in prison chains.
Woman: "Take your bounty to my office."
Inspector: "Good."
The two left the cell, leaving the blonde alone.
Inside her armor, the woman was motionless.
Her expression was frozen, emotionless.
Salem (Thoughts): "Someone...Let...Someone...help me... Any... anyone… I... cannot... take it... any… more..."
Salem shed tears into her armor.
Salem: "Help... May... Someone... save me..."
(Note: I did my best to correct my chapters with the misprononciations. Know that I am French and I was not that good for English comprehension and used Google Traduction many times for my first chapters).
She ends up fainting in her dark cell.
To be continued... Le Sigilitte.
