Jason brokers an agreement to leave the mob.
Monica warns Jason about Edward's attempt to take Michael.
8/4-14/1998
Bobbie visits Jason. He tells her that Michael and Robin are getting closer now that Robin is living there. Bobbie says, "Have you considered how this will affect Carly? I don't think she will appreciate Robin caring for her son."
"Carly can still live here. I wrote her about it but don't know if she is getting her mail. Carly writes me a letter once a week, but they're confusing since she must continue being crazy. She believes maintaining her crazy act will get her out eventually."
"You've been a good friend to Carly, but unfortunately, she wants more. Jason, you need to be straightforward with her that you are not interested in her romantically."
8/14-25/1998
Jason believes Moreno is the one who set the bomb. He orders tightened security and a background check to see if his men are working with Moreno. He promises to retaliate before Moreno tries again. Jason discovers it was a remote detonator that set off the bomb.
Robin tells Jason in every other way than blood that he is Michael's father. But she was thinking about what had happened and what could happen. "Maybe Michael would be better off with AJ after all. We almost died. You chose this life, and I choose to love you, but Michael is too young to choose anything. You're his father; you have to make decisions for him. He could be safe with the Quartermaines."
"After Edward's stunts, I won't let Michael go into that house again."
At the PH, Monica, Emily, and Robin pretend they are at the park for Michael. Jason says, "Michael is trying to crawl. He rocks back and forth and tries to get himself in gear."
Monica finishes, "Yeah, but instead, he rolls over on his back and starts playing with his toes."
"Yeah, how did you know?"
"That is exactly what AJ did."
8/28-31/1998
AJ is angry with Edward and wants to make him see his attempts to take Michael are damaging the family's relationship with Jason even more. AJ plans to visit Jason to remind him Edward doesn't speak for the rest of the family because if Jason's luck runs out, Michael will need their family someday.
Jason enters Moreno's office undetected. He surprises him at gunpoint. "Are you surprised to see me? You didn't think I could get to you if I wanted?" He brokers an agreement to turn over his operations to Moreno.
Moreno doesn't believe Jason is serious. He is uncertain whether he will still be alive when Jason leaves the room. Jason asks, "What good does killing you? Your men would come after me; I can't have that. Do you want it?"
"What about Sonny?"
"Sonny is the reason you won't try for me. If one of us dies, the other will make sure you die. Do you agree to the terms?" Moreno will make some calls. Jason says, "I can be ready in three weeks."
AJ visits Robin. He wants to join forces against Edward. The family would like to see Michael. If Jason can understand that we want that relationship."
"AJ, you need to discuss your concerns with Jason. I have known your family most of my life, and I would put my life in their hands any day, but not Michael. I don't know what they want from Jason besides trying to steal Michael. It's not even as if they like Michael."
"How can they? They aren't even allowed to know him. What makes them so much worse?"
"The first memory Jason has of the Quartermaines is when he was lying in a hospital bed. They were all discussing what was wrong with him and how they would fix him. Jason believes that is what Edward is doing to Michael."
Jason enters the PH, and Robin runs to hug him. She says she was so scared and almost did something crazy. She tells him AJ was there, and he was begging for a connection between Michael and the Quartermaines. "I was scared and almost told AJ the truth. I stopped because I realized I was wrong. AJ has always done what the Quartermaines wanted. If you weren't the loving and loyal man I've known, Sonny might be dead, Carly and Michael could be on the street, or Michael could have been abandoned or kidnapped by the Quartermaines. I don't even know where I would be. I'm sorry, Jason."
"You didn't do anything wrong. You were afraid. I want Michael to be safe with us. That's why I told Moreno to take everything; I quit."
"I don't understand. Duke wanted out for years." Robin wants to know if there is something they have to do. Do they have to leave the country?
"I can't take Michael where Carly can't find him, and your family is here. Moreno and the union bosses don't care as much where I am as what I know. Whatever happens can't be worse than what almost happened to you in Luke's parking lot."
Jason wants to know if he did the wrong thing. Robin says, "I love you, but I'm afraid that this won't work and that you did it for me."
"You and Michael are my family, and that made me choose. I love you, too."
Elizabeth
After Garcia tells Elizabeth there are no leads, Elizabeth cries and runs around her room angrily, throwing everything to the floor. She throws herself onto the bed, sobbing. Jeff sees his daughter's trashed room and calls Gail for advice. She suggests that Audrey participate in one of the group sessions. Jeff calls Audrey.
Audrey learns about Elizabeth's experience at the police station. Audrey comforts her granddaughter and offers to go to the rape counseling group together. Audrey doesn't plan to dredge up her past, but if being there will help Elizabeth, she will do it.
In the session, Audrey breaks down, saying she censored Elizabeth's feelings. She cut herself off from Elizabeth's feelings to stay away from her own. She cries, saying she can't forgive herself. Elizabeth understands how Audrey feels. The rape was as painful for Audrey as it was for her. Elizabeth says neither one of them has anything to be ashamed of.
Bobbie and Lucky argue over his treatment of his parents. She tells him one of these days, he will realize what a jerk he has been, and she only hopes it's not too late to make amends.
September 1998
Summary:
Jason prepares to leave the organization. Jason's associates are angry about his decision. Jason and Robin discuss how their lives will change. Elizabeth and Lucky grow closer. Brenda fears she may have her mother's hereditary mental illness. She is in a car with her mother, and it goes over a cliff and into the water. Jax sees it happen and can't believe she is gone. She is presumed dead. Friends and family mourn her. Jason and Robin move into Brenda's cottage.
Emily is blackmailed with fabricated nude photos of her from her model shoot. Instead of family, she seeks help from her friend Nikolas Cassidine.
Lucky continues to be disappointed with his parents and refuses to return home. Laura is concerned that he needs a warmer place to live when the weather gets colder. Jason offers Lucky a place to live. Lucky moves out of the boxcar. Nikolas and Laura grow closer. He's more forgiving than Lucky has been.
Elizabeth takes a second HIV test.
9/1-30/1998
Jason receives a letter from Carly indicating an early release.
Jason informs Mike of Brenda's death and leaves to tell Sonny. Sonny tells Jason he was right to choose Robin over the business. Jason knows that is the only decision he could have made.
Taggert verbally attacks Jason for allowing Moreno and his men to move all over the city. "Jason, what the fuck? Moreno is taking over the docks. Why haven't you struck back? Are you aware Moreno has moved into your territory?"
Jason refuses to speak. He opens his hands and shrugs as if to say, "What do you expect me to do?"
Mac says, "Oh shit! You are leaving the organization. Taggert, you wanted Jason out; he was the lesser of two evils. He kept the drugs out; now you will worry about someone I consider to be more dangerous. Get the fuck out of my office!"
Later, Jason runs into Taggert and says, "I know this is killing you. Sonny and I walked away clean."
AJ tells Alan and Monica someone has taken over the docks, and the phone number at Jason's PH has changed. Jason has moved out with no forwarding address. Alan worries that something terrible has happened to Jason. Monica calls Mac and learns Jason has left the organization and is living with Robin in Brenda's cottage. She tells Alan and AJ.
AJ doesn't believe it is that easy to walk away. Monica explains Jason cut some deal. Alan says Jason has come home, but AJ says Jason will never come back to the family. Alan becomes hurtful as he asks AJ if he is sorry someone didn't actually kill his brother. AJ says, "I can always count on you for destructive remarks, but this one takes the cake."
"You've got to be the only jealous brother who managed to destroy the favorite son. You are pathetic; you are the one who drove me to my pill addiction."
Monica slaps Alan, "What the fuck happened to taking the blame for your mistakes?"
"What about your affair with Dorman? Everyone blames everything on me."
Monica thinks Jason moving in with Robin is a sign he's leaving his old life behind. AJ is concerned that Monica's hopes will be too high now that Jason is out of the Organization.
Bobbie visits the cottage. Jason says, "I'll be able to visit Carly soon. The doctors are concerned Carly is improving so much that my visit might disrupt that."
"I agree. I don't know what Carly's reaction to all these changes will be. You're leaving the Organization and moving into the cottage with Robin. I can only imagine what Carly would do. Where will Carly and Michael live when she gets out?"
"I don't know what they'll do. I don't see a point in discussing it until Carly is here."
"Jason, are you naive? Carly won't want to live in the same house as Robin. I know that Michael is in good hands with you. I love my daughter, but she lies often. I am sure Carly will arrive and disrupt everything for you and Robin. Could you put Michael and Carly up in their own house?"
"I don't want to share custody and have Michael sent back and forth."
"Jason, you might have to make that decision. Divorced parents do it all the time. Bobbie assures Robin that it's nothing against her.
"I know that. Until Carly is out, everything is hypothetical, and Jason doesn't deal with the hypothetical."
Monica arrives at the cottage in hopes of connecting with Jason and Michael. Bobbie mentions that when Michael stayed with her, he loved the outside. A hurt Monica says it's good they have somewhere they feel comfortable leaving Michael. She offers to take Michael in the future if needed.
Jason says, "It would be okay if it were just you, Emily, or Lila, but Michael is not to go anywhere near the rest of the Quartermaines."
"I promise we'll come to the cottage." Alan arrives unannounced. In shock, Monica asks what he's doing there.
"I'm here to see my son and grandson in their new home." He smiles and waves at Michael.
Jason says, "Get out of my house."
"I'm in recovery now."
"You are a liar. You are high. Get the fuck out. Robin, could you please take Michael upstairs?"
"I don't think it will be necessary, but Jason is right. Alan, you should leave."
"I can't understand the hostility. I came to see my grandson." Monica tells him to go. Jason escorts him out to keep him away from Michael.
Monica apologizes, but Jason tells her she's not responsible for Alan. She asks if she can come back. Jason reluctantly agrees and tells her to call before coming over. Jason asks Robin to promise that if Edward or Alan comes by when he's not home, she won't let them near Michael.
"What about AJ?"
"I'll give AJ a chance, but he's under the same restrictions as Monica. I never thought I'd miss having the bodyguards."
Robin laughs and admits she misses having Johnny around, but not enough to return to the PH.
At the Quartermaines, Alan swallows more pills before Monica comes in and blasts him for his appearance at Jason's. She is angry that he's jeopardizing the fragile relationship she's been bending over backward to create with their son.
"Jason isn't your son; he's my son."
"You are a fucking bastard! I raised Jason; I love him; no blood tie could be stronger than how I feel about him. By throwing this in my face, you have exhausted my patience. If you screw up one more time, I'll throw you out on the street."
"It's my house!"
"You gave it to me!"
October 1998
Summary:
Robin tells the Quartermaines about Alan's addiction. They take action. Edward plans to go after Michael.
Emily's fabricated nude photos of her were instrumental in bonding the "Four Musketeers," With Lucky's computer and hacking skills, the brothers grudgingly work together to save their friend from blackmail. It brought Emily, Elizabeth, Nikolas, and Lucky together, and they became friends for life.
Carly is in Ferncliff and doesn't like Jason's plans for her release. Bobbie warns Carly not to try to use Michael to hang onto Jason. Carly plots to use Michael to her advantage.
Edward says that now that Jason has gone legitimate, they will never get custody of their great-grandson. Lila says a baby belongs with his father. Ned is concerned that Jason won't be able to leave the organization.
AJ visits Jason. He sees Michael in his playpen and starts to walk over. Jason stops him. AJ says, "I'm not Dad or Grandfather; what do you think I will do?"
"I don't know. I'm struggling with who to trust in your family. Edward and Alan are not anyone I want around Michael. I know Carly would disapprove." Jason nods to the crib. AJ walks to a sleeping Michael.
"I don't understand you, Jason. What will you do if Michael ever screws up? I want you to care that Alan is on drugs."
"Alan is a junkie because he takes pills, and he will keep taking pills until he decides to quit. No one can get another person off drugs; they have to quit on their own."
"I know that another person can help make a difference. When Emily OD'd, it changed my life. I don't know who or what is going to change Dad. I was hoping you could help. Couldn't you threaten the dealers if they sell to him?"
"A month ago, maybe, but I'm not in charge anymore. I got out." Jason writes some information on a note and hands it to AJ. "Courtland Street is a known area for drug deals. Good luck in getting him help." AJ leaves,
Mike arrives at the garage. Jason says, "AJ came to talk about Alan. The family thought Alan was better, but I could see at the cottage he was stoned. AJ asked me what I'd do if that happened to Michael. I can't look at Michael and picture him growing up and taking drugs, but maybe I should. Part of being a father is knowing what could come next."
"The best we can do is love our children unconditionally, even when they disappoint. Alan has problems, and you have every right to refuse him access to Michael. I've been a disappointment to my son, but he's come through for me when my gambling addiction takes over. You've taken that responsibility since he's been gone. I don't deserve your loyalty, but you clean up my mess. Alan has a problem he can't control."
Jason places a call to a contact. "I'm calling in a favor. Thanks, I appreciate it."
AJ explains to the family that Alan is still on drugs and that they need to confront him. AJ and the Quartermaines find Alan in a motel room with a prostitute on Cortland St. Edward tells Alan he's beyond their help. He was officially and legally disinherited. His assets were frozen, and he was not allowed on the property, or he'd be arrested. They'd packed a bag for him, and he was no longer a Quartermaine. AJ told Emily that Alan was not in recovery. Monica comforted her as Emily realized what had been happening. Alan picked up the bag and left.
Alan meets with his dealer and tries to buy drugs with the money he got from pawning the jewelry he stole from the family. The dealer turns Alan away. Sweating, Alan says, "Shit, I have the money. You've sold to me before. What the fuck happened?"
The dealer says, "I've been told not to sell to you anymore. You've been cut off, and no one will sell to you."
Emily's Blackmail
Emily received another envelope in the mail with the same nude photo of her, with a note demanding $20,000 to keep the photo off the internet. She learns Jason is leaving the organization and fears if she tells him what happened to her, he will go after the blackmailer, hurting his chances of going legit. Her father has addiction problems, and she doesn't want more stress for him. She believes it was her fault for wanting so much to be a model.
Emily confides in Nikolas that she needs money. She says she needs $20,000. Nikolas says, "Why do you need $20,000?"
Emily cries, "I'm being blackmailed. Someone sent me a photograph of my head on someone else's nude body. They will post the photo online if I don't pay the money. I can't go to the police. I don't want my family to know."
"Emily, if we pay, they will only ask for more money. I'll help you get to the bottom of this." He realizes they need additional help, specifically from someone who understands computers and research to see if anyone has tried this before.
Lucky is happy to see Emily but distressed that Nikolas is with her. Emily says, "Shit, Lucky. I am fed up with your childish behavior toward Nikolas. He's willing to set aside his feelings about you to help me. I'm in trouble." They tell Lucky and Elizabeth about the photograph and the blackmail.
The brothers, Elizabeth and Emily, continue to work together to find out the name of the person whose face the blackmailer used before. The pictures were sent to an outside processor; the copies were sent to her agency and the magazine. Emily is distressed when she realizes how many people could have accessed her pictures.
Lucky says, "I know firsthand from Nikolas' grandmother how easy it is to doctor photographs. He has probably done this before, maybe even using the same body. They find the body online, and Emily and Elizabeth recognize the model. Lucky and Nikolas search for her agency. Emily wonders if the blackmailer knew her family was wealthy. Elizabeth figures they did since they knew Emily's last name. Lucky said the blackmailer probably wouldn't stop at $20,000, either.
They find that Emily's agent had previously represented the model, Maggie Christian. They wonder if the agent was the blackmailer. They found Maggie at a trendy New York restaurant. Nikolas explained that they'd heard that she had been the victim of a blackmailer. Emily said the same thing happened to her. She asked Maggie for help. Maggie said that she'd like to, but she couldn't. She was sorry that the sleazebag was at it again, but she'd never found out his identity. She wished them luck and walked away.
At The Photo Studio
Nikolas, Emily, Lucky, and Elizabeth break into the photo studio to find clues about Emily's blackmailer. Elizabeth finds the folder with the proofs, and she and Emily start looking through them. While the guys look through the contact sheets, Elizabeth spots a Cinderella-like gown, and Emily persuades Elizabeth to try on one of the elegant gowns from the models' rack. Emily fixes her hair and make-up.
Emily comments on how Elizabeth's style has changed from dressing "hot" to hardly dressing up. Elizabeth says, "My rape changed me, the way I carry myself, the way I dress. Gail, Dad, Gram, and even Robin Scorpio tell me my clothes don't matter. It doesn't matter how often I hear it; I still worry about appearances."
Lucky stares when he sees Elizabeth dressed up. Lucky and Nikolas are impressed by the transformation. Emily has Nikolas teach Elizabeth how to waltz. As she gets the steps down, Lucky cuts in, and they dance. Emily and Nikolas watch as they dance. Lucky says, "You are beautiful."
Nikolas whispers to Emily that he thinks he has found the picture.
October 1998
Robin, Jason, and Carly
Jason visits Carly at Ferncliff. He updated Carly about Michael and told her he had left the organization. Jason promised Carly that he could still get her released.
Bobbie asked Jason if he could arrange for her to see Carly. Jason explained that they'd only let him see her because he was Michael's father and that they wanted to control how much information Carly received. Bobbie wanted to know if he'd told her about the changes in his life. Jason said he told Carly about leaving the organization. Bobbie asked if he'd told her about him and Robin.
"I haven't gotten a chance to tell her about Robin. I know Carly will lose it when I tell her. Maybe it's for the best since she needs to be a zombie to convince the doctors to let her go. The place she is in is terrible; she never got my letters. I can't believe what they are putting her through." Jason is determined to get Carly out as soon as possible.
Robin wonders if Jason thought Carly would be that strong about Michael living with them. Jason says, "I hadn't gotten a chance to tell Carly of our living arrangements because we could only speak freely for the few minutes that the doctor had been out of the room. I promise I will tell her tomorrow."
"Have you thought about how to tell her?"
"How I live and who I love is not up to Carly, but she is Michael's mother. She needs to be okay with what I have planned for Michael."
"Jason, you are picturing a calm, reasonable discussion. What will happen if Carly freaks out when you tell her the three of us will live together like a family?"
"I don't understand; Carly knows I love you. She knew you were with me at the PH. Carly wasn't really nuts." As Jason walks away, Robin shakes her head.
Robin arrived at the motorcycle shop with Michael. Robin explained that Leticia's mother was ill, and she had classes. Bobbie and Monica were in surgery, and Emily was at school. Jason said he had to visit Carly. "I promised Carly I'd be there; she's counting on me. If I don't show, Carly will think I don't care about her and that she will be stuck there forever."
"Jason, you need to find a sitter because I can't miss a class so that you can see Carly."
"You didn't see Ferncliff. Carly's doctor is a control freak. I don't understand how she's survived this long." Robin was surprised that Jason felt sorry for Carly.
"I don't feel sorry for Carly. She is a crisis junkie. She's in Ferncliff because she'd put herself there. She pretended to be insane, another lie. Why don't you get that?"
"I'm not a fool. I get why Carly does shit. She lies all the time. She always has some dumb plan to get someone, which always blows up in her face."
"Do you want Michael to be raised like that?"
"Michael is okay."
"I'm not sure we will be. Jason, you said you aren't a fool. You know Carly lies; she uses people. Don't you know Carly will use you because you love Michael?"
"No, that's a line Carly knows not to cross."
"Jason, somehow Carly gets you to cross lines no one else could get you to cross. You let everyone believe that you are Michael's father. Carly is a user and incapable of thinking ahead."
Robin turns to leave for class, and Jason says, "I know you don't want me to see Carly, but I promised to stand by her. I'm sorry."
"Don't be sorry. While I disagree with you, it's what I love about you. You are loyal and stand by your friends. She is Michael's mother. I do believe she loves him, but she loves you, too. That is why I'm afraid."
Jason arrived at Ferncliff for his visit with Carly. The doctor leaves them alone. Carly mentioned that Jason had been about to tell her something about Robin at their last visit when the doctor had interrupted. Jason told Carly about the new living arrangements, and she reacted as Robin had predicted.
Carly angrily asks, "Where in this "cottage" am I supposed to sleep, "on the lawn?" How could you yank Michael out of a home I created for him without consulting me first?"
"Calm down. I did not yank Michael out of a home you created. I lived in the PH before you. He is ten months old. He's too young to know the difference. The cottage is large enough for everyone."
"Fuck you! Don't tell me to calm down. What am I supposed to do when she is out there trying to kidnap my baby? Is Michael calling Robin "Mama?" Am I supposed to go live with you and Robin and tiptoe around little Miss Perfect's rules?"
"Carly, listen to me."
"What else haven't you told me, huh?"
As Jason grabbed her hands and tried to get her to calm down, the doctor walked into the room and asked what was happening. Carly calmed down long enough to let Jason cover for her. Moments later, Carly starts her diatribes again.
"This fairy tale Robin tries to create doesn't suit you. You are settling. I'll prove it when I am out." Jason promises they'll all work together once Carly is released. Later, Carly tells her doctor that she knows how much Jason loves her; after all, he's sacrificed so much for her.
At home, Robin asks about Jason's visit with Carly. "You were right. Carly flipped out when she heard about our living situation."
"How did that get past the doctor?"
"I made up a story to cover us."
"Jason, I'm shocked you keep lying to protect Carly."
"Robin, I love you. I promise you will never lose me. I won't let Carly come between us."
Mike arrives at the motorcycle shop, and Jason explains what happened. Mike asks, "What is going to happen when Carly gets out? I understand why Robin is worried."
"Carly usually has some stupid plan to get what she wants, but I won't let her hurt Robin."
"What if you are the thing that Carly wants? Robin worries about whether there will be room in your life for her once Carly comes home."
"I love Robin, not Carly."
"You also love Michael and said Carly belongs with her son. Have you considered how this is going to work?"
"I can't be away from Michael, but Carly wants to be with Michael, too. That can't happen unless we are living together. I don't know what to do, and I can't ask Robin because it upsets her. I don't know how to fix it."
At Ferncliff
Bobbie shows up to see Carly in Jason's place. Bobbie tells her daughter that she can cut the crap because Jason told her everything, and she knows that Carly is faking. A stunned Carly can't believe that Jason told Bobbie everything. Carly says that she only did what she had to do. Bobbie says that she can't believe that Carly got herself committed there for six months, especially when she has Michael to consider. Carly says that everything that she has done is for Michael.
At The Garage
Robins visits Mike, who is watching baby Michael.
"I'm worried Jason is vulnerable to Carly's manipulations because of his love for Michael.
Felecia visits Robin at the garage, and Robin must handle a quick errand. She asks her to watch Michael. AJ arrives and asks Felecia if he can watch the baby. Felecia is not aware of the rules. AJ picks Michael up when he starts to cry. Jason walks in. Jason calmly takes Michael from AJ, and Michael's cries subside. Jason says, "You are not supposed to be here without supervision. What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to thank you. I know you had something to do with a dealer stopping Alan from buying drugs. After Alan was rejected, he left and was mugged. Someone called 911, and after GH treated Alan's minor injuries, the family convinced Alan to be admitted to an in-patient facility."
Jason doesn't acknowledge his involvement. "You can spend a few minutes with Michael before leaving."
Mike and Bobbie think that Jason must act before Carly is released. Jason says there is no point in deciding anything for Carly because she will do what she wants. Jason needs to figure out how Michael can be with both of them. Jason says he will do everything possible to ensure Carly doesn't feel left out. Bobbie says she had a pretty good marriage before Carly came along. She is Carly's mother and will defend her, but she also knows how vicious Carly can be. Bobbie thinks that joint custody is the best way to go.
Elizabeth and the Musketeers
Elizabeth has a follow-up HIV test. Bobbie tells her that after this test, she'll be 99.9% out of the woods and never have to think about it again after two more tests. Bobbie takes a blood sample from Liz, who is afraid. Growing up, she never had a sense of things to look forward to, but now there are. After her bloodwork, Elizabeth updates her father. Jeff hugs his daughter. "I'm proud of you. You are stronger than you know."
Emily thanked everyone for helping her find the photo that was used by the blackmailer and making the connection with her agent's assistant. According to the invoice, Emily's agency received a copy of the photo. Nikolas stole the contact sheet with the photo. Lucky is concerned that the photographer will miss the sheet, but Nikolas disagrees, saying that the place is a mess and he probably won't even notice.
Emily's agency, Downtown Faces, has an office in Port Charles. Emily receives another envelope. The website has a photo of Emily's face and a message: "If you want to see more, check back next week."
Elizabeth, Lucky, Emily, and Nikolas meet outside Downtown Faces before Elizabeth and Lucky start their internships. Before they go inside, Liz says, "One for all and all for one." She smiles, "I always wanted to say that." Elizabeth and Emily hug, and Lucky and Nikolas shake hands as they all wish each other luck.
The owner, Mr. Yergin, has Elizabeth answering phones and shows Lucky to the mailroom. Elizabeth discovers from a model that Yergin fired his assistant. She asks why the assistant was fired. "I think Fred was most likely running a scam, selling unauthorized photos on the side; it happens all the time."
Elizabeth and Lucky arrive at the Q's and tell Emily and Nikolas what happened. "Mr. Yergin fired his assistant, Fred, a few weeks ago for unbecoming conduct," Elizabeth explains.
Emily suggests that Nikolas accompany her on her visit to Mr. Yergin, saying he is interested in modeling. Emily and Nikolas will distract Mr. Yergin while Lucky and Elizabeth snoop around his office for information. They leave together for the agency, and Elizabeth teasingly says, "All for one and one for all" again. They all laugh, and Lucky gives her the thumbs up.
Emily introduces Nikolas to Yergin, saying, "He is interested in modeling. Could you help him?"
Mr. Yergin is surprised when he finds out that Nikolas is a Cassadine. Nikolas asks if that is a problem. Mr. Yergin says Nikolas could have a great modeling career with that name and his good looks. He hands Nikolas a copy of the standard contract and tells him he set up some test shots. A reluctant Nikolas agrees to the test shots.
Nikolas, clearly uncomfortable, poses for his test shots. The photographer, Tom, tells Nikolas to relax and try something more cheerful. Tom asks him if he is really a prince. Nikolas says yes, and Tom says, "I never would have guessed. You seem like a normal guy."
Nikolas' photo shoot continues, with Tom telling Emily to jump in. He tells them to have fun. Tom finishes the last roll of the film and tells Nikolas that the brooding look works for him. As Emily, Nikolas, Lucky, and Elizabeth leave, Lucky teases Nikolas that he has something to fall back on if the Prince business ever folds.
Lucky tells Emily and Nikolas he found out Yergin's assistant was fired and arrested for fraud. He is sitting in Port Charles jail awaiting trial.
Tom stares at a picture of Emily from the bridesmaid shoot, "I will have Emily Quartermaine all to myself tomorrow. It's such a shame; poor thing, just when her career started taking off."
The following day:
At The PCPD
Lucky and Nikolas hope to pry out information from Fred about the blackmailer. Lucky tells Taggert they want to ask Fred a few questions. They leave their backpacks on the desk. Nikolas's cell phone rings; Elizabeth leaves an urgent message. Lucky and Nikolas show Fred the picture of Maggie. Fred tells them she wasn't into porn and is surprised to see that picture. He recalls Maggie being friends with Tom, surprising and worrying Nikolas and Lucky.
At Downtown Faces. Elizabeth looks through Tom's portfolio. She spots a shot of Maggie Christian, the other model who was blackmailed, putting two and two together. A horrified Elizabeth calls the photo studio to warn Emily but gets the answering machine and hangs up. She calls Nikolas and Lucky to tell them what she has found out, but she can't reach them. She leaves a frantic voicemail. Elizabeth leaves to warn Emily.
At Tom's Photo Studio. Emily finds a note with instructions to wear a slinky white dress. Emily feels weird but changes into the outfit and finds Tom waiting. Tom compliments her. Emily asks Tom about Nikolas's proofs. Tom says that being shy can be sexy. He leaves to reload his camera. Emily wanders, finds Nikolas's proofs, and says, "Tom is right; shy can be sexy." She sees another picture of Nikolas.
Tom returns and catches Emily gaping in shock at a nude photo of Nikolas and says, "You are smart, sometimes too smart. It's a shame; you now know too much about my private sideline."
Elizabeth arrives at the studio, calling for Emily. Tom says, "Shhhhh, Not a word." Elizabeth recalls the rape and remembers her rapist saying the exact phrase when he attacked her in the park and made a terrifying discovery.
Jason, Robin, and Carly
AJ says he has been cleared to visit Carly. After AJ leaves, Robin says that it's started. Jason says, "What has started?" Robin tells him Carly is using AJ against him. Robin reminds Jason that Carly told him she didn't want to see AJ. Carly must have changed her mind the minute Jason left. She thinks that Carly is using Jason. Jason agrees, but Carly wants to get released and pressures Jason into making that happen. Robin is surprised. Jason says that if he warns Carly about AJ, she will know that she is getting to him, and if he tries to stop AJ from going, he'll tell Carly, and she will be scared. When she's afraid, she does drastic things. Robin says Carly could do something to get AJ on her side. Jason asks what she could do, and Robin says she could tell AJ that he is Michael's father.
Jason doesn't think that Carly would tell AJ the truth. She came to him first because she knew the Q's would try to take Michael away if they knew the truth.

"Not a word," Tom says.
Elizabeth stares in horror at him as he admits that he was the one who raped her in the park. She tries to run away, but he catches her and throws her in the darkroom with Emily. Elizabeth says, "It's Tom. He's the one behind the blackmail, and he's the one who raped me."
Lucky and Nikolas sneak into the studio and hear Emily pounding on the door. They unlock the door, and Emily rushes out. She tells them about Tom and points to Elizabeth in the corner. The four of them start to leave, but Tom arrives with a gun. Lucky jumps on Tom, knocking the gun out of his hand.
Elizabeth picks up the gun. She points it at Tom's head. Lucky and Emily try to rationalize with her, telling her he's not worth killing. Elizabeth condemns Tom. Nikolas hands her Tom's cell phone. She dials. "This is Elizabeth Webber, and I'd like you to pick up a rapist." Taggert arrives and takes Tom away. Lucky wraps his arm around Elizabeth, and she rests he head against him. She thanks everyone for sticking by her. Emily thanks them for stopping her blackmailer.
Carly tells AJ that Edward going after her is why she's stuck in Ferncliff. "Jason will take care of Michael and me."
AJ questions Jason's capabilities now that he's out of the organization. AJ tells Carly that Jason's ability to influence her release diminished when he left the organization. "Jason walked away from his power; he is just a bike mechanic; he can no longer influence judges. I will work with Jason to get you released."
Monica visits Alan at the drug treatment facility. Alan asks why she is there. Monica tells him about Emily, and she thinks Alan should know. She told him about the blackmailer and that Emily was too afraid to come to her family because she didn't want to upset them further after what Alan was going through. Alan wants to see Emily, but Monica refuses. "Your visitor list is limited. You chose addiction over your daughter, and I will not let you show some hypocritical concern for her now."
As Lucky and Elizabeth leave for the police station, Lucky stops her and tells her he got something for her birthday. She smiles as he hands her a small box. She opens the box and pulls out a charm bracelet. Lucky explains that the charm is to symbolize her future as a painter. Elizabeth says, "I love it."
11/5-9/1998
Bobbie arrives at the garage. She is surprised Jason is not upset that Carly wanted to see AJ. "Carly will use whoever she can to leave Ferncliff. It's her way of threatening me. She is saying get me out of here, or I'll go to the Quartermaines, but I know she won't because she knows the only way the Q's will help her is if they get custody of Michael. She does what she always does."
"How does Carly think? Because you are the only person on earth who seems to understand her."
"Carly thinks about herself and wants what she wants. There's nothing wrong with that except that she does a lot of damage to get what she's after. It's what happened with Dr. Jones. He treated her like a jerk, and Carly knew it, but it was important to her to be in love with him.
Elizabeth hugs her father. She updates him on her ordeal. I have to give my statement about Tom. No, you don't need to be there. Lucky, Emily, and Nikolas will be there. Thank you for understanding why I went behind your back. I love you."
Audrey calls Elizabeth. Jeff called and updated her on what happened with her granddaughter and Tom. She is upset Elizabeth didn't tell her about Tom, not that she could have helped. Elizabeth apologizes for not keeping her in the loop. "Dad didn't know either. He already lectured me on what could have happened."
Elizabeth, Lucky, Emily, and Nikolas provide statements at the PCPD. Elizabeth comments that giving her statement felt good. Tom is one step closer to going on trial. Lucky points out that if Nikolas and Emily hadn't come to him and Elizabeth for help, they never would have found out that Tom was also her rapist.
Elizabeth and Lucky tell Bobbie about finding her rapist.
Emily goes to the garage and tells Jason about the blackmail and how she, Nikolas, Lucky, and Elizabeth tracked down the man responsible. Tom Baker, a photographer that she had worked with, was responsible. Tom was the man who raped Elizabeth in the park on Valentine's Day. Jason asks if Tom hurt her. Emily says no, he just threw her in the darkroom. "Elizabeth is the one that Tom hurt. Jason says he knows about the rape; he and Robin were there afterward.
Jason asks Emily if the blackmail was why she came to the penthouse that day. Emily says, "I was going to ask for help but knew you would hurt whoever was doing it, and I didn't want you to get into trouble. If anything happened to Tom, the police would know you were responsible. Then you would get arrested, and Grandfather would use that as an excuse to try to take Michael. Tom is in jail and will go to prison. If you do anything now, it will be my fault. Please don't do anything to Tom."
Jason kisses Emily's forehead and says, "No promises, but I'm here for you. If the Quartermaines cause problems, let me know." Emily wants to move in with Jason, but Jason says, "Carly will be out soon. It's not a good idea to have you here with her and Michael living with Robin and me."
Carly apologizes once she realizes her release is literally in Jason's hands. She is ecstatic when she realizes that all Jason has to do is sign it. Jason pulls one out of his pocket and stares at her. Jason continues to taunt Carly by holding the pen in front of her; she asks him why he is doing this. He explained that he wouldn't sign until he clarified things. "I know you and Robin won't like each other more than you did before, but that is not Michael's problem. You will get along for his sake. Initially, you will live with Robin and me until Michael gets used to you again. After that, you will find your own place, not far from the cottage. I'll cover rent and expenses. We will share custody of Michael. I've given this much thought and can't think of a better way."
"I don't think it is fair to you. You would only get to see Michael part of the time. I should stay with you in the cottage." Jason shakes his head. He picks up the release papers and puts them back in the envelope without signing them.
"I don't want to cause problems, but are you sure this is the best solution? We should stay together."
Jason accuses her of using Michael to try to manipulate him. She denies it, but Jason refuses to listen. Carly accuses Jason of being a better manipulator than her because he is holding her release papers hostage until she agrees to his demands.
Carly relents, "Okay, I get it. I will live with you and Robin for a little while, and then I'll move out, and we will share custody." Dr. Evans arrives. Jason signs the release and hands it to the doctor.
Taggert calls Elizabeth. "The technicians at the PCPD are running your rape kit against Baker's DNA. We will soon learn if he is your rapist. Now that he is in the system, if there are other unsolved rapes, they can check their DNA. I'm proud of you for being brave enough to report your rape. I hope we nail the bastard. We are holding him in jail for Emily's blackmail as well. Good luck."
"Thank you, detective, for telling me yourself."
11/10-18/1998
Jason/Bobbie/Robin/Carly
Jason tells Bobbie and Robin that Carly will be released on Friday. He explains that Carly will stay with them until Michael gets used to her again. Jason will buy her a house nearby, and they will share custody. "Carly won't stay with us very long. She will be on her own, and we will still have Michael part of the time. I'm happy Carly is getting released for Michael's sake, but I hate what this will do to our life."
Bobbie tells Monica that Carly is coming home. Monica is less than thrilled at the news. Bobbie says at least now, Carly, Jason, and Robin can begin to untangle their lives. Isn't that what they all want, to get along for Michael's sake? Bobbie suggests that the Q's stay away from Michael and the cottage until things settle down. Monica asks if the ban on visiting the cottage applies to Bobbie, too. When Bobbie says of course not, Michael is her grandson, Monica points out that Michael is her grandson too. Bobbie says, Jason said you and Emily can visit, but no one else.
Luke tells Lucky that they are finally going to have it out. They will go somewhere and settle things between them, and Lucky can either come willingly or Luke will knock him out and take him. "This is typical Luke Spencer. Threaten with violence. I don't want to be a part of you or your life."
"Despite being out of town, I still know what has happened. You left the boxcar and moved above Jason's garage. You are working on the cars and computers. I'm tired of being punished for the man I was 20 years ago. You are punishing me for a crime I didn't commit. I didn't rape Elizabeth, and I'm also tired of being penalized because you can't find the man that raped her."
"I guess you don't know everything, Dad. We caught the rapist, but it doesn't change how I feel." Lucky tells Luke about catching Tom and how Nikolas helped him, and they worked together to find Emily's blackmailer, who turned out also to be Elizabeth's rapist. "Nikolas is my brother; it's a biological fact. Without his help, we would not have taken down the bastard who did that to Emily and Elizabeth. I cannot trust you anymore. Everything you want to believe about Nikolas is false. You don't want your son back; you want an ally."
Bobbie stops by to see if Carly has made it home yet, and Robin says that Jason has gone to get her. Bobbie suggests Robin leave for a few hours to let Carly settle in. "I live here with Jason, and Carly must get used to that. Trying to walk around on eggshells would not help Carly in the long run."
Robin announces her presence to Carly and Jason. Carly thanks her for caring for Michael while she was "away." Robin tells Carly about Bobbie's visit. Carly asks Robin if she'll help her catch up on missed times in Michael's life. Robin shows Carly the photo album she created from Jason's daily photos. Carly "jokingly" criticizes Jason's picture-taking abilities and the costume they picked out for Halloween. Fed up, Robin heads for bed with Jason right behind her. "Thank you for making the album. After all, it could take months for me to catch up on Michael's life," Robin and Jason stare at Carly. "Did I say months? I meant weeks," Carly says with a smile.
Jason's feeding Michael while Robin's on the phone with the nanny. Leticia's mother is sick and can't watch Michael. Jason says that he'll take Michael with him. "I don't understand why you can't leave him with Carly. Isn't that the whole idea? Carly and Michael will get reacquainted."
Carly walks in, "Oh, sorry. I overslept. I hope nobody holds that against me. It's been so long since I've slept in a decent bed; I didn't think it would matter since Jason knows I like to sleep in."
Bobbie drops in. Jason walks in with Michael, ready to go to work. Carly protests, "We should spend the day together."
"Carly, I must leave for work."
"You can't leave the baby with me because Michael doesn't know me yet. I won't know how to handle him if he starts crying."
"You can come with us to the garage."
"No thanks, the garage is dirty and doesn't suit me."
Bobbie offers to drop Carly off after their visit. After Jason leaves, Carly says, "I don't get Jason falling for this angel of purity and princess act. I don't belong in this pure white cottage; neither does Michael or Jason."
"Carly, they are happy here. Jason likes the woods, and Michael likes the stars. You've been here a day, so give it a chance. Jason is not leaving Robin."
"Robin is a bitch who manipulates Jason. He belongs with me." Bobbie tells her that Robin is not manipulative. "Are you taking Robin's side? She has everyone on her side, and I have no one." Bobbie tells her to be grateful for being out of Ferncliff and having a chance with her son. Carly wants to go shopping. She looks in a jar on the desk and takes the money.
Carly arrives at the garage loaded with presents. She tells Michael, "I love to buy presents, and you will always get the best of everything as long Daddy's money holds out." Jason assures her that there is plenty of money. "You don't belong in this shit hole any more than I do."
Michael cries, and Jason changes his diaper and reassures Carly about getting used to Michael. Carly complains again about the garage, and Jason sets her straight. "Carly, stop your bitching. There was a car bomb that almost killed Robin and killed our driver. The next bomb could kill Michael. I got out of the business because I didn't want to see the people I love get killed. You don't need to worry about money. I have plenty."
Carly argues, "It's not just the money; I know you. You loved that job, and you are damn good at it. You belong in the organization. You don't belong in this garage. You are better than that. This garage thing must have been Robin's idea, just like the cottage."
"Robin didn't know about my leaving until after the fact. Robin was living at Brenda's cottage and moved back in with me. I wanted Michael to have a yard when he got older. The PH is cold and imposing. I am fed up with your attacks on Robin. I can move you out sooner if that becomes an issue."
Carly gets snotty, "If there is money, I will start changing things. I will redecorate Michael's nursery. The way it is now, it's inappropriate for a child."
Carly shows Robin her purchases from the previous day's shopping expedition. Carly explains that Jason told her she could redo her room. They are interrupted by a knock on the door. Robin opens the door and discovers AJ standing on the front porch.
AJ walks in, commenting that he heard Carly was there. Carly invites AJ to sit down and see her stuff. Carly expects Robin to protest so she can use it against her later. Robin sits and reads a magazine. Carly tells her to leave. Carly says that AJ came to see her, not Michael. AJ says he just came by to say hi, but now he will be on his way. Carly says that she is Michael's mother and this is her home. Robin quickly points out that it is hers and Jason's home.
After AJ leaves, Carly picks a fight with Robin. She accuses Robin of practically announcing to the world that AJ is Michael's father. Robin tells Carly that she is the one dropping breadcrumbs about Michael. "I haven't said anything to AJ, but you keep pushing me, and he might find out."
Carly asks Robin if she is threatening her. Robin says. "I'm not the one treating AJ like a yoyo. First, you beg Jason to keep AJ away, and suddenly, he is your best friend."
"AJ is a friendly face, which is rare enough in this town, thanks to you." Robin laughs and asks if Carly thinks it is her fault that people don't like her.
Carly says, "AJ is not Michael's father. He is a drunk who fell into my bed one night."
"You were dunk, too. You invited AJ into the house. You won't stop AJ whenever you want to keep Jason in line or scare him into thinking he might lose Michael. Who is the real baby stealer in this picture?"
"You want Jason to lose Michael and scheme to make Jason blame me."
"It isn't about losing Michael or Jason. You can make Jason angry or miserable, but you cannot make him lie and adore you like Tony Jones. If you really want someone to raise your son, why don't you start acting like a mother?"
Jason walks into the room. He is not happy to find Carly and Robin arguing. He asks what happened. Robin says that AJ came, Carly invited him in, and she stayed because he wasn't allowed there without supervision. Carly embellishes, saying that Robin overreacted; if AJ didn't suspect anything before, he is sure to now.
"Did you hear what Robin said to me? Are you going to let her talk to me like that?"
"I heard what you said to her, too."
"I don't have to take this shit. I had a home where I could stay and didn't have to worry about Miss. Hospital Corners. I can always take Michael and find another place."
"Good luck. If you leave now, the Quartermaines will swoop in and take Michael. We have got to do better for Michael's sake. Do you understand?" Robin says she does and walks up the stairs, leaving Carly and Jason alone. Carly flops down on the couch, smirking. Jason catches the smirk and follows Robin upstairs.
11/19/1998
Robin and Jason are at the airport saying goodbye. Jason doesn't want her to go. She doesn't want to fight. Jason says they aren't fighting; he just wants to know if she is returning. Robin says yes, but Carly pushes her buttons and will use Jason if he isn't careful. "I thought I could handle Carly's return. I've tried to be supportive during this transition but I am always angry. I don't like the person I'm becoming. I don't want to stoop to Carly's level, but I don't want to tiptoe around our house either. This trip will allow Carly to reconnect with Michael, and when I return, Carly will be out of our house. I'll call you when I get to Rome." Robin hugs and kisses Jason. She tells him that she loves him and will miss him every second. Jason tells her just to come back.
Jason arrives home to Carly, chattering happily about her afternoon with Michael. He tells Carly she must find a new place before Robin returns. Carly says okay if that is what Jason wants. Jason says that none of this is what he wants, but it's how it has to be for everyone's sake.
Carly checks on Michael, and Jason listens from the baby monitor as she tells Michael a fairy tale based on her own life with Jason. "Michael, soon it will be Jason, you, and I. The PH is more suited to us. Self-appointed sainted Robin can slum it in this dreary cottage."
11/20-30/1998
Lucky's Room above the garage:
Elizabeth tells Lucky the police are waiting for the DNA results before charging Tom. Lucky is baffled and tells her that the guy confessed to the crime. She says, "Until they have evidence, it would be my word against his. At least for now, Tom will go on trial for extortion."
PCCD
Elizabeth asks to speak to Tom. She needs to confront him now that she isn't distressed. He took something away from her when he raped her, and she needs to get it back. She wants to stare Tom in the face and tell him what she thinks of him. Taggert says he will be in the room with Elizabeth. He says they record the calls and can listen later.
Elizabeth confronts Tom. The glass partition is between them, and they use the phone to communicate. Tom tells her how nice it is to see her and that she looks terrific. Elizabeth bites into him about what a scumbag he is and how he terrorized her, but he has no power over her anymore.
"You disappoint me, Elizabeth. You think you are so "special." That's why you wore that pretty red dress. I would guess it's red for Valentine's Day." He continues to taunt her, even saying the phrase "not a word" repeatedly.
Elizabeth holds her own and says, "I look forward to testifying against you and sending you to prison." She leaves, and Lucky comforts her. They leave the police station and head for the docks.
Elm Street Pier
Lucky says he hopes she will be his girl officially. Elizabeth smiles and says she already is. He stands and offers her his hand. She asks what they are doing, and Lucky says dancing. She says that there isn't any music. Lucky says, "Listen." He takes her in his arms and sings "My Girl."
December 1998
Summary: Jason takes a stance on dealing with Moreno. He must protect the ones he loves. Moreno is not honoring their agreement. Moreno asserts his control as a mob boss. There are consequences to Jason's agreement. Felecia is compromised. Johnny is in trouble. Jason seeks out Sonny.
Carly is confident Robin and Jason are over. He will choose her, and they will return to the PH. She takes extra steps to make that happen.
Lucky remains at odds with his father, who refuses to acknowledge that Lucky accepts Nikolas as his brother.
Tom Baker faces the music.
Tom Baker
Tom is on trial for extortion, child pornography, and distribution of pornography. DNA results link him to Elizabeth's rape and the forcible rape of three other girls under the age of 17. Dara Jensen happily adds additional charges and schedules a second trial. Taggert and Dara meet with Baker in his lawyer's office. They produce DNA evidence on the rapes. They have Tom's photo proofs showing doctored photos of Emily Quartermaine and two other girls. There is a computer trail linking him to extortion. They show the proofs of Nikolas Cassidine and his doctored photos. Dara lays out the extent of the charges. Blackmail: One year per offense = three years. Child pornography: Five to 20 years per offense up to life in prison. Doctored photos of Nikolas Cassidine: Five years. Rape in the third degree, a class C felony: Five years each = 20 years.
Taggert gleefully adds up the years on a calculator. He says, "48 years to life."
Dara says, "We have excellent witnesses and victims willing to testify. The daughter of a prominent family, another daughter of a respected doctor at General Hospital, and a member of one of the wealthiest families in Port Charles are all eager to testify. We can go to trial, and you can risk life in prison without the possibility of parole, or you can accept a plea deal of 40 years to life in prison. The charges will be served consecutively with the possibility of parole in 2030. You have 24 hours to decide, or we will go to trial."
Emily, Nikolas, Elizabeth, and Lucky wait in Dara's office. Dara arrives with Detective Taggert in tow and tells them that it's promising there will not be a trial. Dara explains the evidence against Tom is overwhelming. She is hopeful no one will need to testify. Taggert says they will have an answer in 24 hours. The friends are surprised and hopeful.
Emily and Elizabeth thanks Nikolas and Lucky for their help and support. Elizabeth calls her father with the news.
Dara Jensen leaves a message on Elizabeth's voice mail saying Tom accepted the deal and will be transferred to Pentonvile Prison in the morning. She reaches Emily and tells her the news. Emily calls Nikolas and shares the news. Nikolas says he thinks Lucky and Elizabeth are in the park. Nikolas picks Emily up, and they search for their friends.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth and Lucky are in the park. Lucky asks if Elizabeth is cold, "No. I love this time of year when everything is sprinkled with fresh snow. It's like the world is immaculate."
Lucky smiles, takes her hand, and kisses her. Elizabeth puts her arms on Lucky's as they continue to kiss. They hear the sound of someone clearing their throat and laughter. Elizabeth looks toward the sounds.
Emily laughs, "Sorry if we interrupted, but we weren't sure you heard the news. Dara Jensen called to say Tom took the deal. He'll be in prison for more than 30 years!" The newly minted "Four Musketeers" dance in the fresh snow.
Elizabeth walks away for privacy and calls Robin. She leaves a message about Tom. She thanks her for convincing her to have the rape kit. If it wasn't for her, Tom might have walked. Emily calls Jason and gives him the happy news.
Jason visits Elizabeth at her house, saying, "Emily called and told me about Tom Baker. Robin said you called her. I hope this gives you closure."
"I'm happy Tom is going to prison, but it doesn't change the fact he violated me. He'll be an old man when he gets out. Therapy and friends help, but I still have nightmares. I don't want Lucky or Emily to know because they think I'm okay. Thanks for listening. Emily says she can always count on you."
"Elizabeth, you can come to me if you need to."
"Thank you." Jason leaves.
Felecia Scorpio
Courtland St
Tammy Hansen
Luke, Jason, Moreno, and others:
Felecia works undercover on Courtland Street. Tammy tells Felicia when Jason was running the street, there were no drugs, and hookers could choose their own Johns. Felicia says Sonny Corinthos was that way too. Tammy says it's different now that Moreno has taken over and is running the streets, and she doesn't like the change. Tammy tells Felicia to warn Mac that Moreno is stirring up trouble. Tammy is attacked.
Upon seeing Tammy's battered face, Luke asks if she has considered a safer profession. Tammy explains that she was beaten up by a pimp who was trying to "recruit" her. Luke asks what he can do to help. She asks Luke if he has noticed the changes since Moreno took over. Luke says, "I haven't talked to Jason Morgan, but I find the idea of his retirement hard to believe."
"I don't care who is in charge as long as they leave me alone. The guys out there now are scary. I stayed with a nice lady across the hall after I got beat up. She wanted to help but had to leave. I heard a knock on the door. Before I passed out, I heard about an attack on the Comissoner's wife."
Felecia arrives and gives her side of the events. One of Moreno's dealers tried to drug her, but she got away. The dealer wound up dead in her bed at the motel. Luke explains to Felicia and Tammy how a drugged-up police commissioner's wife in bed with a dead drug dealer would be a bargaining chip for Moreno. They thank Luke for figuring everything out.
Luke visits Jason and updates him on the Moreno situation. Jason says, "I'll do want I can. My power has been weakened since I left, but Moreno didn't honor our agreement. If Sonny returns, and with your help, we can take back the docks. Thank you for informing me. I'm sorry about Tammy. Sonny and I don't condone violence against women. Mac and Felecia are family because of Robin."
Felecia visits Jason at the garage. She asks Jason what he knows about a man named Moreno. Jason tells Felicia what he knows. Jason asks if the dealer knew who she was. Felicia says that he didn't let on, but he must have. She and Luke think that Moreno must have been trying to set her up to blackmail Mac. Felicia asks if Moreno wants a showdown.
Johnny, Jason's former bodyguard, visits Jason at the bike shop. Moreno is giving him trouble, and he needs Jason's help. After Johnny leaves, Jason calls someone, requesting a meeting between him and Moreno. As he ends the call, Mike walks in and overhears. He wants to know what's up, and Jason tells him about the deal he made with Moreno: he would sell his territory to him on the condition that Moreno would never bother Jason, his friends, family, and his employees. Moreno has broken the agreement by demanding "protection money" from Johnny for his new restaurant. Moreno put Jason's family in danger. Mike warns Jason that he needs to stay out of it and that Jason no longer has his "protection."
"I don't know if I can Mike. They went after Felecia. She is part of Robin's family. They are beating up the hookers on Courtland Street. I already called a favor to halt them from selling drugs to Alan."
Justus arrives with a message from Moreno. Justus tells him that Moreno is not going to meet with Jason. Jason is pissed that Moreno sent Justus as his messenger. Justus explains that Moreno didn't send him; he came because he and Jason were once friends, and he doesn't want to see Jason get hurt. Moreno has an army, and Jason runs a garage now. Jason gives him the same argument that he just gave Mike. Jason is disappointed with Justus's loyalty.
"Justus, you had so many opportunities to get out. Do you realize what Moreno is doing? He's trafficking drugs, brutalizing the hookers; he was going to frame Felecia Scorpio and blackmail Mac. Is this what you want to be known for? You can tell Moreno I won't back down."
Justus is ashamed and asks, "What can I do? You warned me, but I didn't listen. I fear for my life if I don't follow Moreno's orders."
"If you want out and promise to work with Luke, Sonny, and me to take Moreno down, I'll try to protect you. You were once loyal to me and advised me on the Quartermaine family." Justus agrees to be a snitch.
Justus lies and assures Moreno that Jason won't be a problem. "Jason understands he is in no position to get in your way," Moreno says that's good because if Jason interferes with his business again, he will have him removed.
12/1-13/1998
Bobbie visits Carly. Carly plans to redecorate Michael's room. Bobbie thinks it's for Michael's room when Carly has her own place. Carly says, "I'm decorating Michael's room at the cottage, and I don't need Robin's permission because Robin will be out of the picture. I'll make sure Jason and Robin are over. Soon, Jason will have us back in the PH, where we belong. I'll decorate the cottage for practice, and then the PH will get a makeover."
"Carly, you need a reality check. Jason loves Robin. You are only seeing what you want to see."
"Jason will be fine without Robin; he's happy with Michael and me. Jason and Robin are over; they don't know it yet."
Carly tells Michael, "The best thing to have is unconditional love. It's when someone knows who you are and likes you anyway. Your Daddy is like that. Your Mommy's little ploys don't put him off. Because I have you, Daddy will choose us over that insufferable twit Robin Scorpio."
Jason returns home to find Carly resting on the couch. Carly tells him that she wants to help. Whatever he needs. Jason explains, "Moreno went after Robin's family and Johnny to see if I would react. If I do nothing, then I am retired. If I strike, I am back in the business for good. My priority is Michael. I don't want to put him in danger."
"Michael will be safe with you, no matter what. It's who you are. You can't be someone else."
"It's my job to keep Michael safe. There are always risks; nothing is certain in my business."
"You've been listening to Princess Purity. You must take back what is yours."
"Carly, I've told you not to badmouth Robin. I've spoken to her. She told me to do what I thought was best. She knows I protect what is important to me. She knows more about the business than you. She lived it when she was a teenager. Her stepfather died because of the organization. She was kidnapped by a mob family member when she was twelve. She wants Felecia to be protected."
Carly says, "You protected us before, and you can again. You need to think about yourself. You are miserable in this new life pretending to be happy."
Jason cuts her off, "Would you feel that way if Michael was in the car that blew up? Carly, you don't get it. Sonny's wife blew up in a car bomb. Robin almost did. Renaldo died protecting her. I was there both times. I couldn't protect them. Last year, I was shot and almost died. I cannot protect you the way you want. You think this is fun and exciting. You refuse to consider the consequences, just like you did when you shot Dr. Jones."
Jason arrives at the shop where Mike is working on a motorcycle. Mike asks how it's going. Jason says he misses Robin, but it's been easier for Carly. They discuss how Michael is not ready to move out with Carly. Jason is worried because he promised Robin that Carly would be out when she returned. Jason knows Carly is milking her situation, but she is also scared. She has missed a lot of Michael's life. Jason thinks Carly is delaying the inevitable.
Carly redecorates Michael's room. Jason helps Carly wallpaper Michael's nursery. Carly flips up her hair seductively, asking Jason if she has gotten any glue on her neck. Jason doesn't take the bait and says she doesn't. Carly asks if they can redo her room next, but Jason reminds her that she will move out before Robin returns home. Upset, Carly claims it might take longer for Michael to adjust. Jason suggests leaving Michael with Carly for more extended periods. Carly asks what if she and the baby aren't prepared to be separated from him just yet? Jason says he will explain to Robin that she and Michael need more time. After they finish wallpapering, Carly suggests hanging a man on the moon on the wall for Michael since he likes to point at the moon. Jason agrees and goes to his car for nails and equipment.
Carly gets a phone call from Robin; she asks to speak to Jason. Carly lies and says that Jason is out, and she doesn't know when he will return. Robin tells Carly she will be home in about a week and to let Jason know. She gives Carly her new phone number, and Carly pretends to write it down so Jason can call her back.
Jason returns, not suspecting Robin has called. Carly fears what Robin would say about the wallpaper. She continues to say other things about Robin, but Jason stops her and tells her she will not put herself between him and Robin. Carly won't win. Jason says she, Michael, and he are a family, and Robin can't change that. Carly says if they are a family, why can't they live together like one?
"We can't. When he is older, Michael will understand that we love him but don't love each other." Carly climbs the ladder and purposely falls off, pretending to hurt her ankle. While Jason is massaging Carly's ankle, she screams out in fake pain. He removes her shoe and says she needs to elevate it and put ice on it. She asks to do it in his room because Michael is sleeping and asks that he carry her there. Jason says, "My room is with Robin. You can stay here on the couch."
Carly has decorating ideas for the PH, and Jason says no one lives there. Carly says, "We might if you return to the business again. It's a suggestion."
"If you want to live in the PH, it won't be with me."
Carly is still milking the sprained ankle and tries to convince Jason that he should stay home tomorrow to help her with Michael. She is worried that Michael isn't comfortable with her yet. Jason says she must get used to caring for Michael herself and stop using him.
Robin finally gets a hold of Jason. Carly walks in and overhears the end of their phone conversation. She looks guilty but acts innocent as she asks if Robin finally got a hold of him. She did tell Jason that Robin called, didn't she?
"No."
"Robin called; I forgot to tell you."
"You didn't forget; you chose not to tell me. How did you think it would play out."
"I wanted some family time."
"I am used to your games and tired of your antics. Don't try them when Robin is here because I will stand by Robin, not you. I don't understand why you continue to play them, because they cost you more than they get you, like the "accident" with the ladder. Michael is too little to understand what you are doing. If you mess with Michael's head, safety, or life, you won't be welcome when Robin returns."
"Why didn't you say anything about the ladder?"
"If you want to sprain your ankle on purpose, that's your business."
At Jake's Bar
Carly drags Jason to Jake's, where they used to hang out. Carly asks Jason to dance. He wonders about her hurt ankle. A guy asks Carly to dance. She accepts and dances sexy to try to make Jason jealous; however, it doesn't work. Carly finishes dancing, returns to her table, and complains to Jason that he is ignoring her. Jason tells her that he can see that she is busy. She says the guy had his hands all over her and asks if Jason noticed. He says he did notice but didn't see a problem with it since Carly was the one who put the guy's hands there. She wonders why he's not jealous. Jason says he is happy with Robin and doesn't think of other women. Carly is disappointed but continues her cat-and-mouse game. She invites him to dance. Jason says, "I'll only dance with Robin. I'm not interested. I'm taking you home. Carly, do you think I'd feel nostalgic about coming here? I've told you I'm not interested. I'm leaving. Think about your actions and decide if you want to move out.
Jason tells Carly that she only hears what she wants to hear. Carly understands that Jason was alone and Robin saved him, but what does he need to save from now? "Maybe I need saving from you. The only thing we have is Michael, and I won't let you use him to hold on to me. Don't assume you know me better than Robin. You are the one telling me how I am miserable. Your pathetic antics make me miserable." Jason asks why Carly can't understand that he is happy. Carly says because she knows that she could make him so much happier.
12/14-20/1998
Robin returned home and was not happy to see Carly. Jason apologizes for being unable to have things ready when Robin returned. Robin says that she will not be run off. Nothing gets resolved that way, and she can put up with Carly for a bit longer. Jason updates her on the Moreno situation.
Carly reminds Robin that she and Michael come as a set. Robin says, "I wouldn't have a problem with you if I didn't know you were manipulating Jason. You are playing games, and they don't work with me any more than with Jason while I was away. I knew that you weren't planning on leaving the cottage or Jason. Jason told me that every second while I was gone, you tried to seduce him. Jason is faithful to me because he loves me. That is why your game fails every time."
"Michael will be a part of Jason's life from now on, so get used to it."
"I accept Michael will be part of Jason's life, but you are not part of my life."
Jason receives a call. A woman tells Jason that Sonny is in trouble. "My name is Maria. Mr. Corinthos is acting very strange. He seems very angry. I don't think he will hurt anyone, but I'm afraid he will hurt himself. Sometimes, he picks up the phone to call you but then hangs up. I think Mr. Corothinos wants to see you."
"Thank you, Maria. You did the right thing. Don't tell Sonny I am coming; I will be there soon." Jason hangs up the phone and tells Robin and Carly he's flying to PR. Sonny is in trouble. He needs the two of them to stay with Michael.
He tells Robin and Carly that he isn't sure how long it will take. Robin offers to go, but Jason tells her she knows what it is about. Sonny wouldn't want her to see him like this. Jason says that if Mike asks, he's gone to see Sonny. Before he leaves, he makes Carly and Robin promise to make things okay for Michael while he is gone. That means no fighting.
Jason tells Robin to call Mac immediately if anything happens. He tells her he loves her and kisses her goodbye. Robin says not to worry and to stay as long as Sonny needs him. As soon as Jason is gone, Carly begins her attack on Robin. "Carly, you don't know Sonny or his relationship with Jason. For once, listen to Jason. Moreno is dangerous; I won't let your petty feelings for me endanger my family or this city."
Carly hesitates, "Only because Jason asked; I'll do as he requests now. Once Jason returns, all bets are off, and I will convince him he belongs with me. Truce."
Jason arrives in Puerto Rico, and Maria cautions Jason that her boss has been drinking and becomes violent on occasion for no apparent reason. She thinks Sonny is going crazy and hopes that Jason can calm him. Sonny sits in the dark, unshaven and disheveled. Jason calls out Sonny's name. He tries to engage his friend's interest by talking about Robin and Michael. He says they live in Brenda's old cottage and talks about Carly. Sonny erupts in anger and asks Jason what he is doing here. Jason tries convincing Sonny to come back to Port Charles for the winter. Sonny says he moved out of the business and got away clean. Jason refuses to leave. Sonny asks Jason how Robin is doing. Jason tells him how Robin is coping with Brenda's death. Sonny blames himself for not having been there to save her. Jason tells him that he couldn't have done anything even if he were in Port Charles. Jason intends to help Sonny and calls Robin to say he will stay in Puerto Rico for as long as Sonny needs him.
Alan is back home with the Quartermaines from rehab. He makes the rounds for his 12-step program, asking for amends for his actions.
12/21-31/1998
Robin is at the Outback. The window behind the bar shatters, and shots ring out. Mac grabs Robin, throws her to the floor, and everyone else dives for cover. When the shooting stops, Felicia crawls over to Mac, who is bleeding profusely. She cries while everyone looks on in horror. Robin applies pressure to stop the bleeding, and Felicia holds Mac's hand and tearfully begs him to stay with her.
Mac is en route to GH, and Robin calls Carly to explain what has happened. She tells Carly that she isn't hurt, but Mac is shot. Carly is concerned for her and Michael's safety since the cottage is so isolated. She asks if she should take Michael and run. Robin says, "Stay inside the house, lock all the doors, and draw the drapes. Stay down and away from the windows. Don't go in the basement because there is only one way out, and you could get trapped. I'll call Johnny to stand guard."
Carly wants Robin to contact Jason, but Robin says she can't. Robin says that she is going to the hospital to be with Mac. Taggert arrives and wants to question Robin, but she is too upset and leaves for the hospital. Taggert is sure that it was Moreno. Considering Jason's former mob connections, Taggert thinks Robin may have been the target. He asks one of the police officers to pick up Jason Morgan but learns that Jason is out of town and unreachable. Taggert thinks it's suspicious that Jason has left so close to Christmas.
Mac made it through surgery last night, and Bobbie tells Felicia and Robin he needs one more surgery.
Felecia wishes she had never heard of Moreno. Robin tries to take on the blame by saying Jason retired because of her and sold the territory to Moreno. Felicia tells Robin that she can't be blamed for Moreno's actions. "I'm as much to blame. I went undercover and got made. They went after Mac because of my actions."
Jeff tells Elizabeth about Robin and her uncle. He knows Robin was a friend to Elizabeth when she needed one and suggests she be one to Robin now. Elizabeth calls Robin and offers to bring a change of clothes.
Audrey is at Elizabeth's house, grilling Elizabeth and Lucky. Audrey says she is concerned for Elizabeth's safety. Elizabeth says she was with Lucky. Audrey is just confused and worried. The more leeway she gives Elizabeth, the more Elizabeth seems to withdraw. She feels like Elizabeth isn't a part of her family anymore.
Elizabeth says, "Gram, I appreciate your concern, but Dad knows of my relationship with Lucky. Dad trusts Lucky; he'd never hurt me. Lucky and I aren't having sex."
Audrey replies, "I'm relieved to hear that. You are far too young for that responsibility."
Lucky tells Audrey that Elizabeth means the world to him and he would never pressure her or put her in an awkward position. He would never take advantage of her. Elizabeth says that she and Lucky aren't doing anything wrong. She excuses herself to her Gram, saying she's going to GH to visit Robin.
Jason reviews Sonny's casino records. The manager tells Jason they have more money on the premises than they are insured for and that a transfer hasn't been made in days. The records are a mess. Sonny overhears Jason giving the manager orders. He yells at Jason.
Jason yells back. "Damit, Sonny! You haven't been paying enough attention to business. You don't know what is happening anymore, including the dealers skimming the profits."
Sonny calms down and apologizes. Jason says, "I will stay here as long as it takes for you to get your act together again, even if that means bringing Robin, Michael, and Carly to the island. If you think you are going crazy, wait until you meet Carly!"
Carly freaks out on Johnny. She wants to leave with Michael to see Jason, where she'll feel safe. Johnny tells her to stay. Jason will get in touch when he can.
Jason calls Carly, and she fills him in on the shooting of Mac. He tells her to stay put and to listen to Johnny. He promises to return to Port Charles ASAP. Jason hangs up and tells Sonny about the hit on Mac and how it was Moreno. Sonny asks Jason if he's considered a counter move. Jason said he did after Moreno sent Justus over. Justus is keeping him in the loop on events.
Jason believes his coming to see Sonny is what put Moreno into action. Sonny tells him to go home. "That is not the solution; you are the solution. I quit the business because of my family."
"You must neutralize Moreno."
"I can't without you. I don't want to live like you do, in hiding. Please return to Port Charles and help me. You are making me choose between you and my family; I don't want to do that. You will return with me the next time I'm out here."
Jason arrives home, and Carly greets him with a big hug. She assures Jason that she did everything he said. Jason thanks her and tells her that he needs her help once again. He asks her to pack for herself as well as Robin and Michael. They aren't safe in the cottage and are returning to the PH. Carly says that it is about time! Jason reminds her that if it hadn't been for Robin, she would have been in more danger.
Jason asks how Michael is doing. Carly tells him that Leticia has been spending the night. She says she only listened to Robin because she had no other choice. Jason asks if Robin is at the hospital. Carly says that she is. She has been either there or at Mac's house since the shooting. Carly hasn't seen her. She tells Jason to see Robin; she knows that he wants to. Jason tells Carly that things are going to change. Carly needs to know how because it affects her and Michael. Sonny is going to come back to Port Charles. He needs to be around people who get him, and he needs to do work that he knows how to do. Carly points out that it's the work Jason used to do. Carly laughs and runs up the stairs, telling Leticia they are going home.
Jason arrives at the hospital to find Robin asleep in a chair with Mike watching over her. Jason wakes her up and gives her a big hug. He asks if Robin is okay and asks how Mac is. Robin explains he got out of surgery but is still unconscious.
Mike asks how Sonny is doing. Jason tells Mike that Sonny needs someone to be with him and asks Mike to go. He tells Mike how to get to Sonny and that Sonny will be mad. Mike tells Jason to be careful because Taggert is determined to make this shooting Jason's fault. Jason tells Robin he has much to say to her. He has had to make some decisions. Robin says that she thought he might.
Jason explains that Sonny isn't doing great and must come home. Robin agrees. Jason says that when Sonny comes home, he will need them. Robin says they need a solution, which she guesses is the best. Jason tells her they must return to the PH because the cottage is too exposed. Robin laughs when Jason tells her that Carly is packing for everyone. Jason says Carly loves the PH, but he can't see Carly and Sonny as roommates. Robin says every cloud has a silver lining.
Carly walks into the PH and is happy to be home. Jason tells her not to get too comfortable because this is temporary. Carly sighs in exasperation and suggests that they take Michael to the GH Christmas party.
Lucky and Elizabeth exchange Christmas gifts. He says there will never be another girl for him, ever.
Elizabeth kisses him. Their moment is interrupted by a knock on the door. Emily and Nikolas walk in carrying gifts. The friends go to GH, where Emily and Elizabeth change into elf attire. Lucky and Nikolas help herd the young patients from their rooms to the cafeteria for the reading. Jeff admires his daughter's costume.
Receiving permission from the Board, Alan steps up and wishes everyone a Merry Christmas on behalf of everyone at GH. He sits in the chair Steve Hardy once occupied to read the Christmas story.
Sonny is drinking alone in his tropical hideaway when Mike arrives. He tells Mike that he didn't ask for him. He asks why the only time he won't leave is when no one wants him around. Mike says, "Get your shit together and come home. It's time to take back control."
Michael celebrates his first birthday. Carly asks Bobbie what Sonny is like. After Bobbie tells her about Sonny, Carly does another about-face and says that the bottom line is that she won't be the one moving out. Michael isn't ready.
Robin and Jason discuss New Year's resolutions. Jason says he will keep the people he loves safe. Robin says hers would be to keep things simple and to remind herself about the things that matter. They discuss his "birthday," and she says she wants to celebrate the day he became Jason Morgan.
Jason and Carly wish each other a Happy New Year. After Jason leaves the room, Carly tells Michael this will be the year his mommy and "daddy" get together for good.
Stay tuned for 1999
1999 will be more Liason-Centric. Robin will be leaving, and Lucky leaves town. Carly continues to manipulate Jason, but he is wise to her antics. AJ will learn the truth.
