Infant of the soul
To which I gave up
existence to make
How precious
And little you are
Oh but you are
A monster
A monster that is myself
Li P.o.v
"Nii-san..." Ichiru moved closer to his older twin and placed a hand on his head. He looked towards his twin's clutched, outstretched hand, that held a dangling necklace. "Nii-san...what are you doing?" He cautiously asked his older twin.
There was no answer at first, as the longer haired silverette was standing on one foot, on a chair that looked over the grandiose, picturesque view of the tall, haunting shrubs of trees, holding the dangling prized possession.
The gem shimmered radiantly, it's ray going all directions and emitting a bright evergreen light. A stray light attacked Li's vision, forcing him to drop it out of instinct. The necklace fell from the top of the high balcony and landed on the soft, white winter snow.
"..."
'Curses! How careless of me!' He reprimanded himself over and over again.
"...I told you Nii-san." Ichiru smugly remarked. "Quiet you tart!" Li reprimanded. Li then stood up and looked for the necklace, until he spotted it. "Nii-san. How are you going to get the charm without going out of this room and angering Ojii-san?" Ichiru followed his brother's movements as he pulled the dressing chair to the balcony door.
He stopped moving mid way and an idea jumped to the front of his mind. "Ichi. Do you still remember how to do the puppy dog eyes?" Ichiru gave him a slow, but sure nod. "I better have a reward after this..." Li ran to him and pulled him towards the chair.
"I will cover you up in Ojiisan," he forced a large coat off the hanger "Oba-chan," another one. "Elder uncle Yoshi's overcoats." and another one. "Now. Hear me out. This may or may not work, but while you are 'trapped' you are going to have to make the most loudest cries for help and you know that they cannot resist our cuteness. So while you distract them for me, I'll take the opportunity to escape and successfully make it outside. Right now let's just hope that Elder uncle Kabuto won't hear us for reasons you and I... know..."
Both Li and Ichiru shuddered violently at how accurately their grand uncle Kabuto always knows where they are, what they do, etc to an extent that they probably thought that he has twelve sights further into the future.
Li went back into the coat closet and forced down one more coat that was hanging undisturbed. Ichiru sat in a fetal position, knees against his chest, and giggled every now and then when the fabrics of the coats made contact with his body.
A few minutes later, Li was done and he heaved a sigh of great relief. Ichiru was entirely covered up by their relatives coats. "Perfect! How are you feeling Ichi?" Li went closer to the cocoon of coats shielding his younger twin's small body.
The coats slightly muffled his voice. Li chuckled sweetly and ran to the door. He started banging on the door and calling out to his Baa-chan. Ichiru chimed in, regardless if his voice wasn't loud enough to get through the fabrics of the coats.
Their voices were eventually heard by their grandparents and their Elder uncle Yoshi. The first one in was their Elder mother Shizuka who, not so elegantly forced opened the door, almost knocking over Li.
"Damnit Shi-tan! You almost killed the kid!" The ebony haired man, Hideyoshi, called from behind. She surveyed the room cautiously before she was taken aback by the cocoon of coats on the ground.
She knelt infront of Li, who had crocodile tears, falling from his big amethyst eyes. "Oba-chan..I was playing with Ichi..and and... I thought it'd be an amazing idea to play butterfly with your coats and pretend to be in a cocoon...but a some times around.. Ichiru couldn't get out.."
The adults looked at his glassy eyes, judging if he was lying, but the innocence in his eyes worked like magic and they believed him. "I can't believe I'm believing him." Shizuka patted his head gently.
"What the.?" Hideyoshi questioned out loud, visibly puzzled by how the buttons seemed like they where apart of the fabrics. "Mind waiting a while there Ichy?" Hideyoshi fumbled around with it, but a few minutes later he sighed, threw his hands up in the air, in a sign of giving up and looked directly at the white haired male attending to the older twin, "...Well...do something Hamdog!"
The white haired vampirian frowned in grave irritation, pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head, muttering; 'Useless, waste of breath and my time..'. The Pureblood left his older grandchild and angrily walked to the kneeling ebony haired Pureblood. One brief look at each other and the Pureblood crouched down to the cocoon and said to the male vampirian without looking at him; "How come you can bend time..yet you can't age up your braincells a bit.."
"Hamada.." the silver-white haired vampirian muttered quietly, knowing very well that her husband had heard her. Before she left the older twin to attend to the cocoon situation, she delicately placed a small peck on the boy's cheek. She turned around, walking away from him, to which gave him the full opportunity to leave unnoticed.
Li managed to stealthily slip out the room and make it to the packed ballroom of very tall, lavishly dressed guests. He gwaked at the beautiful costumes and gorgeous masks adorned by all of the vampirians in the room, briefly noticing that he was out of place amongst the older nobility.
Once outside, the cold winter wind nearly knocked him over.
His white ushanka was covered in snow and lay a few metres away from him. He shook off the snowflakes that were on his delicate head and wearily picked up his hat, dusted it off and wore it again.
'If my estimation is correct... I would.. say.. that the dressing room Ichiru and I were in... It could be facing west..'
Li looked around for a moment, taking in his surroundings. He noticed colourful green, purple, blue and red streaks of light coloured over the dark sky, the trees seemed further away since the last time he saw them and the wind seemed stronger.
He walked around the building, keeping his eyes to the ground, just in case he didn't miss his necklace. One turn and a few minutes later, he finally found it, sticking out of the snow and shimmering with the moonlight didn't make it hard for him to miss it. He immediately picked it up, tried to warm it up with his gloved hands and wore it triumphantly around his neck.
Then, he felt a pair of eyes staring, burrowing even, directed at his small form. He shivered slightly, the stare getting increasingly uncomfortable and so he turned around and looked up. He saw a familiar brown haired boy with the same look in his eyes, beautiful and secretive.
The Pain of remembrance
A sin that refused to leave me
Even as my frozen form
Lay dormant
Lethargic
Unmoving and quiet
I know you can hear me
As I speak to you
My precious
Little
Monster
My tiny petal
Drifting aimlessly
With your companion
The wind
'Is that... Hyuji?' he thought, as he squeezed his eyes, trying to focus on the form a lot harder, trying identify the vampire.
The boy was sitting near the window. Then the boy waved slightly. "Hyuji's here! Hyuji!" Li enthusiastically squealed. He smiled as bright as a star, a bright pink blush dusting his chubby cheeks and he waved happily back at him. The boy returned the gesture with a fond big smile of his own.
They stopped and stared fixated on to each other's eyes and the boy was the first to break the eye contact, when he turned his head to the side, got up and disappeared. 'I miss him already..' he thought solemnly, his smile dissipating and he clenched his charm tighter as the feeling of loneliness creeped into his little heart. 'Li... He did say he would come visit... He would visit me. As soon as this soiree is over, but... He-...huh? Why's the charm glowing all of a sudden?'
Li noticed streaks of light from in between his clenched fingers, he rubbed the charm gently and the glowing started to fade. Looking ahead of him and to his immediate fascination and awe at the emerald green sigils that were forming a walk way trail through the snow.
The sigils melted the snow and thanks to the glowing green he could see them shine much further ahead the trail. 'Should- Should I continue this path..? I mean Baa-chan and Ojiisan would not be very happy about me going into a forest during a snowy midday...but I am sure that I will come back inside as quickly as I left! Yes, Yes. I will say that I was..er- in the bathroom, and- and I got locked in. I hope they'd buy my excuse..'
He huffed in enough air to release his creeping anxiety and puffed out a cloud of warm air, already feeling adventurous as he set off down the trail not sure where it would lead him. This of course, wasn't the brightest of his many ideas, but being stuck in the house for a long time and not being able to explore forests and surrounding ecosystems, fuelled his curiosity to adventure this trail.
Kaname P.o.v
'There he is... In all his beauty..'
Kaname didn't realise that he was staring for a very long time until the beautiful silverette locked eyes with him and blushed. He noticed this adorable gesture and the soft smile, so he smiled and waved at the silverette.
'Such an adorable and beautiful rose...My beautiful black rose has come alive...My precious princess...Your warmth is what I yearn to feel once more..my love'
"Kaname, have I warned you enough about leaving unannounced? Now, let us meet your soon-to-be bride, before they get bored and leave." His mother's musical voice pulled him out of his thoughts. He rolled his big, adorable sienna eyes and got off the window seat half-heartedly.
The hallway was empty and deserted, with everyone downstairs in the dance hall. They made it to the meeting room and the Shirabuki family looked the least attractive he's ever seen. He didn't want to be there at all. He knew what both of their families and that Shirabuki girl, whatever her name was, wanted from both of them.
They sat at the opposite couch, facing the other family, so instead of sitting in between his parents, he opted for the seat on the left which was closest to the window. For the most part he stared at the falling snow. Once the silent atmosphere settled in, the woman with platinum blonde hair and pale blue eyes spoke up first.
"So... Now that the meeting has started, Crown Prince Kuran, if memory serves me right, you promised that in three days, you would have decided on the proposal. Have you an answer yet?"
Kaname already knew his answer to this question. "Yes and my answer is no. She is not what I look for in a bride. In fact, she is the opposite of what I want- no. What I need my bride to be. Her looks are arguably what some other Vampirian match makers would consider but I am not attracted to her at all. Now if you excuse me."
The Shirabuki girl started sobbing, hard. Kaname did not spare a glance at them before standing up and leaving the room, ignoring his parents tired and defeated sighs. He strode quickly down the hall and heard a wail.
'I wonder what is going on...' he traced the cries to the second to last door on his left and used his telekinesis to turn the door knob and push the door open.
He was met by a sight meant for a painting as the great Hamada had his fist above his head, ready to assault the kneeling Hideyoshi, a frantic and worried sea of seated and standing HioKiryuu members, who from encounters with them would show no emotion. To see them react with any emotion other than strict formality was foreign.
"My... What has all of you act so unordinary?" This wasn't going to be good on his future self if he helped other Vampirians so loosely. The first person to speak up was Hamada Hiou, he had slapped Hideyoshi instead and sorted himself out in a matter of seconds after noticing his presence and knelt down in front of him, till his height.
"Have you encountered Li, on your way here?" He asked tiredly. Then, a shrill voice rang hysterically once again in the room, "The plague cloud has swept down and spirited my grand nephew to nestle into the arms of the one who birthed origin!" his breath got stuck in his throat as the mention of the spirit had his stomach weak with sadness and longing.
"I will be able to help you all."
He knew he had to help. Hideyoshi continued, cradling a weary Ichiru in his arms, "What should I have done to keep that sweet little Li instead of this one?! The winter weather will shock him and his heart is too weak for that and any kind of shock this cruel cruel world has for our little Li! Oh where did you-"
"Hide!" the rest of the HiouKiryuu members whisper-yelled at the hysterical vampirian.
A darker ebony haired Pureblood physically clamped his brother's mouth shut, in his own bout of annoyance.
"Like I had said earlier, I can aid you all."
Li P.o.v
"No where! This lead me nowhere!" Li angrily yanked the necklace off his neck, causing a faint cut on his delicate neck, as he threw the ornament further away in displeasure. He regretted it immediately, as the illuminated trail dispersed as the necklace had no energy to suckle on anymore.
He paled and his eyes grew darker in realization. He let out a small whimper as he remembered the stories about the consequences of the lost child would follow. His heart started picking up pace. He cradled himself, as tightly as his small arms could manage.
Thump
Flashes of what could be happening to his heart as the the beating picked up. How the image of a small red heart, pumping black liquid in his veins as the beating filled the air.
Thump thump
'Oh no.' he clenched the rich fabric of his winter coat that covered his chest and he panicked trying to get his breathing to normal. Everything was getting noisy, his breathing became shallow as he clutched his chest.
He fell over from dizziness, landing on his bottom. He threw his head to the side and threw up bile. After a while, his vision took some time to refocus and once it did he saw a man and a woman stand a few feet from him, their eyes were glowing crimson. From his seated position, he felt dread upon noticing the two figures.
"Oh my...looks like another meal lost in this blizzard." The woman laughed at her own joke. The man moved painfully closer to him and he scooted backwards. "Are you lost little angel?" He could only follow the far-gone vampire with his eyes, his heart racing faster than before.
'My love..'
The man lifted a clawed hand high above his head, taking his time with the fear struck noble.
'If you can make out my voice, repeat after me..'
Images of a bloody and murky plain, inhabited by a lone, floating figure, filled his vision. He wasn't in danger? Cold, ghostly hands cupped his warm cheeks and more tears trailed down his big cheeks.
A cold thumb brushed a tear. And then another tear and another. His lower lip trembled and he was still frozen. Li was scared, yet he was mesmerized by the dead eyes that stared passively back into his own. One other eye was consumed with darkness and continued to tear up a black substance.
'Just relax my lily'
The newcomer had a gentle hold on his cheeks and gently landed on the ground..or the sea of blood they were sitting on.
'And repeat after me'
His body was pressed against a larger chest, that, if it wasn't for the white cloth they wore, was colder than the hands. One hand moved from his left cheek and caressed his long silver-white tresses, over and over until he felt a little calm. He closed his eyes.
'Sode no shirayuki'
The far-gone vampire scratched the left side of his neck, ruthlessly tearing his delicate skin and the scent of berries, vanilla cupcakes, honey, cream and watermelons filled the air. His upper body fell on the snow and his dizziness became worse.
The vampire licked his bloody razor-like claws and inched closer. 'So.. Sode...no Shirayuki' he weakly uttered. He managed to repel the man with a protective dome around him and sent the man flying into a nearby tree. He was losing conscience. He placed his hand to the wound on his neck and pressed it lightly.
"Be gone you fallen wastebloods! The gaul to hurt my my beloved wife!" Even in his woozy stuphur he still heard his Hyuji's voice, but this time he was angry. This statement was followed by a shriek and a small burst of red light that disappeared quickly but the shrieks echoed.
"Have mercy Kaname-" another scream resounded. "Backward beast. The sheer stupidity to utter my name." Silence passed, and the stillness was interrupted by the soft noise of the wind. The beating had overcome his senses and he felt the familiar pain that came with his heart attacks. He can't move, his body was in an even bigger pain, compared to the last time he had an attack.
Li was fading in and out of reality. His protective dome dispersed without his command into shiny, little snowflakes and a brush of cold air washed over his form. "My Princess, you are not meant to be lying on the ground like a hunted animal..."
He felt his body being lifted from the ground and into a pair of arms his head swung motionless before he was adjusted to lay his head on Hyuji's chest. He managed to get a look at his saviour. He recognised the eyes, the hair and the look in his eyes but this was replaced by worry.
"I...we..could have met under different circumstances rather-" he was hushed by a finger against his lips and Hyuji continued "Rest now my love...my princess, those cold and dead eyes don't suit you. Rest them for now..." He couldn't stay awake any longer, as the sound of his heart stopped and his vision was attacked by the image of the previous spector, now with ebony hair and dark, dark eyes and outstretched arms, as if waiting to hug him, painfully tight and that the spector did.
Immediately, darkness followed and his pain slowly subsided.
'It is fate that brought us together my princess
No such thing as different circumstances.
I have long awaited for this day
To carry you in my arms in such a way
Only my one and only precious rose
Is befitted to be carried by me and only I
Would be able to feel the warmth I had dreamt about from my time thousands of years ago
This warmth that only I was able to feel..
This warmth I miss so dearly...
Our warmth we shall share for eternities..
The warmth of the princess of my memories...'
