Becky's POV:

It's been like a week since we found out that I was dehydrated. So now, I'm back at football practice and I can't stop looking at Spike any chance I get.

I think he noticed I was staring, because he grinned and ran over to me. "Hey, Becks."

"Hey. What's up?" I smiled back at him.

He snickered. "I should be the one asking you that. Don't think I didn't see you staring at me for the last hour. Because I did."

I blushed and grinned. "Um, after practice, let's go race down Cherry Hill."

"Ok. But hey, do you want to make racing down Cherry Hill a thing for just us? We can race everyday after practice and when schools in, after school."

"You bet." I said, happy as a clam.

"Icebox! Spike! Attention over here, you guys." I blushed as Uncle Kev shouted. "We need to run The Annexation of Puerto Rico for next week's game. We're playing Troy, Ohio's Trojans."

"Are we going to crush those slimy Trojans or what?!" Sean Murphy shouted.

"Yeah!!" Everyone shouted.

"Ok. So, who wants to help with the pass to really nail those Trojans?" Uncle Kev asked. Hands rose up all around, but I knew uncle Kev would only pick three. "Ok, we'll have Junior go to Icebox, then Icebox to Spike. Then Hanon will try and make the touchdown."

We ran through it a few times and had it down pat in sixteen minutes. Then practice was done and Spike and I were headed to Cherry Hill on our bikes.

It took all of three minutes to get there. I stopped my bike at the top until Spike go there. I heard the sound of a chain drop then a "Oh shit! Ugh, why now?"

I giggled as I walked my bike to where the yell came from and saw Spike, kneeling down next to his bike. "Trouble with your chain?" I grinned.

He grinned as he looked up at me. "Yeah, can you help me get it hooked?"

"Yeah, sure." I leaned down next to him, to the point of where our knees were basically touching. I reached up under his bike and hooked the chain back where it needed to go. "There. You ready to race now?"

He grinned at me as he pushed his bike to the top of the hill beside mine. "You bet."

We hopped on our bikes at the same time. "On the count of three. One." I said.

"Two..." Spike said, grinning.

"Three!" We shouted it together, then zoomed down the hill, at top speed.

I pedaled and pedaled, in hope of winning. I zoomed pass Spike, leaving him in my dust. I giggled as I came to a stop at the end of the hill.

"Good job, Becks. You really left me in your dust, didn't you?" He was breathless.

We rode our bikes all the way to the diner in town. When I walked in, I saw Wilbur and Orville. "Hey, Becky, Spike. What can I get for you guys?"

"I want a basket of fries and a glass of coke." I turned to Spike. "You want something?"

"Just a coke for me."

"Sure. I'll have it out in no time." In a few minutes, Wilbur brought out our Cokes and my fries.

"You want some of my fries?" I asked, as I squirted out some of the ketchup packets.

"Sure." He grabbed a couple and put them on a napkin.

I took a few sips out of my coke, then grabbed a spoon. I grabbed the paper from my straw and started to launch the paper into my cup. I made it in the first time.

"Wow, that's so cool. How do you do that?" Spike stared in amazement.

"I'm an O'Shea. It's like sports, which most of them come naturally to me."

"Becks, how often do you come here?" Spike asked, as he drank the rest of his coke.

"Almost everyday after practice and after school."

"I'll come with you everyday after practice, but only if you want me to."

"Sure." I don't mind at all; if anything I want to spend more time with Spike.

"Well, I guess we should be getting home, shouldn't we?" Spike looked at his phone, and got up from the stool. I followed him out the door to our bikes. "Do you want me to, you know, walk you home?"

I didn't honestly expect this to come from Spike's mouth, but honestly I was really glad that he did mention it. "Yeah, I do." We got onto our bikes and rode all the way to my house. "Thanks for walking me home, Spike. See you later."

"Wait." Spike reached out and grabbed my sleeve. "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure, what's up?" I asked.

He mumbled something that I couldn't understand. "What? I couldn't hear you."

He took a deep breath. "Do you mind... can I kiss you?"

I swallowed thickly and nodded in response to his question.

He leaned towards me and our lips met, in a soft, but firm kiss. I felt fireworks go off in my head. "Wow. Did you hear that?" Spike asked, grinning.

"Hear what?"

"The fireworks in my head. I thought for sure that the whole world could hear them." That made me smile.

"Trust me; I felt it too." I said. "See you later, Spike."

"Bye, Becks." He hopped on his bike and rode away.

Wow... for a first kiss that was...wow!

Spike's POV:

It's been a week since everything went down with Becky, but now she's back at practice.

I caught her staring at me a few times, so I walked over to her, grinning. "Hey, Becks."

"Hey. What's up?"

I snickered. "I should be the one asking you that. Don't think I didn't see you staring at me for the last hour."

She blushed and grinned. "Um, after practice, let's go race down Cherry Hill."

"Ok. But hey, do you want to make racing down Cherry Hill a thing for just us? We can race after practice and when schools in, after school too." I said.

"You bet." She said, smiling at me.

"Icebox! Spike! Attention over here you guys!" I saw Becky blush as Coach Kevin shouted to us. "We need to run the Annexation of Puerto Rico for next week's game. We're playing Troy, Ohio's Trojans."

"Are we going to crush those slimy Trojans or what?!" Sean Murphy shouted.

"Yeah!" Everyone shouted, including Becky and I.

"Ok. So, who wants to help with the pass to really nail those Trojans?" Almost everyone raised their hands, but I feel like he's going to pick the one's that are really good players. "Ok, we'll have Junior go to Icebox, then Icebox to Spike. Then Hanon will try and make the touchdown."

We ran through it a few times and had it down pat in sixteen minutes. Then practice was finished and Becks and I were heading to Cherry Hill to race.

Becky went on ahead of me, but I know her. She'll wait at the top until I get there. When I was halfway there, my chain fell off my bike. "Oh shit! Ugh, why now?"

After I'd sat there for a minute or two, struggling with the chain, I heard some say, "Trouble with your chain?"

I looked up, grinning at Becky. "Yeah, can you help me get it hooked?"

"Yeah, sure." She leaned down next to me and out knees were pretty much touching, which made me feel like I had a fever. She reached up and hooked the chain back where it needed to go. "There. You ready to race now?"

I grinned and pushed my bike to the top of the hill, right beside Becky's bike.

We hopped on our bikes at the same time. "On the count of three. One.." Becky said.

"Two..." I said.

"Three!" We shouted it together as we zoomed down the hill, as fast as we could.

Becky was pedaling as fast and as hard as she could. Then she zoomed by me, leaving me in her dust. She stopped at the end of the hill, waiting on me.

"Good job, Becks. You really left me in your dust, didn't you?" I was breathless.

We rode our bikes to the diner in town and we walked inside. Those two guys, Wilbur and Orville, were behind the counter.

Wilbur, I think, came up and took our order. "Hey, Becky, Spike. What can I get for you guys?"

"I want a basket of fries and a glass of coke." Becks turned to me. "You want something?"

"Just a coke for me."

"Sure, I'll have it out in no time." Wilbur said.

In a few minutes, Becky had her fries and coke. I had my coke. "You want some fries?" Becks asked, as she turned to me.

"Sure." I grabbed a few and put them on a napkin.

Becky took a few sips of her coke, then she grabbed a spoon. At first, I was confused why she grabbed the spoon. She grabbed the paper that our straws came in and balled up a piece.

Then she launched it into her cup with the spoon. "Wow, that's so cool. How do you do that?" I stared at her, in honest amazement. She's really talented.

"I'm an O'Shea. It's like sports, which most of them come naturally to me."

"Becks, how often do you come here?" I asked.

"Almost everyday after practice and when schools in, after school."

"I'll come with you everyday after practice, but only if you want me to."

"Sure." Becky smiled at me.

"Well, I guess we should be getting home, shouldn't we?" I picked up my phone and got up from the bar stool, Becky following behind me. "Do you want me to, you know, walk you home?"

"Yeah, I do." She smiled at me, as we hopped back onto our bikes and rode the rest of the way home to Becky's house. "Thanks for walking me home, Spike. See you later."

"Wait." I reached out and pulled on her sleeve. "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure, what's up?" She smiled at me, and it sent chills up my spine.

I tried to say what I needed, but I couldn't get it out. "What? I couldn't hear you."

I took a deep breath and let go of my fears. "Do you mind... can I kiss you?"

She gulped and nodded her head in response. I leaned towards her, as our lips met and I heard fireworks. After we'd pulled apart, I grinned. "Wow, did you hear that?"

"Hear what?" She asked.

"The fireworks in my head. I thought for sure that the whole world could hear them." She smiled at that, and I fell for her even more after that.

"Trust me; I felt it too." Becky said, grinning. "See you later, Spike."

"Bye, Becks." I said, as I rode back to my house.

Wow.. I never thought I'd feel this way about someone, especially if that someone was Becky "Icebox" O'Shea. But I'm glad that I do and I'm also glad that she feels the same way.
