Becky's POV:
Today we have more football practice. I called Spike and asked him to meet me in the woods to talk, before we have to be there.
"Hello?" He asked, and he sounded tired.
"Hey, do you mind meeting me in the woods before football practice today? I need to talk to you."
"Oh, shit! I forgot we had practice today! But yes, I'll meet you. Just give me a few minutes."
I hung up the phone and put on a pair of khaki shorts and a long sleeved blue t-shirt and a baseball cap.
I walked out the garage door, rolling my bike to the end of the driveway. I hopped on my bike and rode to the woods.
I propped my bike on a tree, so that way, Spike would know where I was. I walked back a little bit, then suddenly out of nowhere, I felt myself fly up into the air.
I looked around and realized that I'd stepped on a net trap. I'm trapped up here. Well, at least I called Spike before I came. So he knows I'm here.
I sat there counting the seconds. 1 minute went by, then five minutes, then 20 minutes, and went it got to an hour, I was sick of waiting. Then 2 more hours went by.
Then I began to hear a male voice from down below the tree. I looked down to see Spike, helmet in his hands, looking all around. "Did she already leave? Well, I guess I am pretty late."
"I didn't leave! I'm up here!" I shouted.
"Becks? Where are you?"
"Look up at the tree!"
He looked up and his mouth dropped open. "How'd you get up there? Where did that net come from?"
"I don't know. But I think the net is a trap for wild animals or something."
"Hang on! I just saw a guy on a forklift. I'll see if he'll lift me up to you!" With that, he ran out of the woods and back towards the road.
I leaned back against the net, and stared up into the sky. I never seen it look this pretty from the ground. Everything always looks different higher.
I'd been staring at the sun for about 20 minutes, when I heard a whirring sound coming closer and closer. I looked down to see Spike with some guy on a forklift.
He was on the front fork pieces, getting the guy to lift him up to me. Then the fork started to come towards me. "Hang on! Let me just get out my knife." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a Swiss Army knife.
He began to cut open the net. Once I could get down, I jumped straight into his arms. Tears glistened in his eyes. "Becks, why do you always get yourself stuck in these situations? I was so scared."
"You? I was scared that I was going to get hurt. Well, at first, I was, but then for some reason, it wasn't so scary anymore."
"Well, I'm just glad that you're ok."
The guy brought us back down to the ground. "You ok, honey?" He asked, pulling his hat off.
"Yeah, I'm alright. I was just scared."
"Well, if you're sure." He said, then drove the forklift back towards the road.
We walked back towards the road and hopped on our bikes to head to football practice. When we got there, my dad was running around the football field, looking frantic.
When he saw me, he came running over, pulling me into a big hug. "Becky! Where have you been? I've been worried sick!" Dad exclaimed. "Spike, what happened?"
"Well, she called me and asked me to meet her in the woods before football practice. And when I did finally get there, I couldn't find her." He said, giving my dad the 411. "I heard someone shouting, so I looked up at the trees. Becky was trapped in a net, that someone had put down to catch wild animals."
"Becky, sounds like you had a rough morning. I'm sorry that happened. Are you ok?"
"Yeah, dad. I'm fine. Just a shook up, if you know what I mean." I said, smiling. "So, who's ready to practice?"
I looked all around the field at the guys, who stared at me as they shoved their uniforms into their duffel bags. "Becky, practice is over. You were a little late." Junior said, walking up to me.
"How late?"
"Oh, about... 5 hours late." He said, sarcastically.
I gasped, shocked that I'd missed the entire thing. "Gee dad. I'm sorry I missed it."
He smiled at me. "Becky, it wasn't your fault. You got stuck to where you couldn't come. It's not your fault. The person whose fault it is, is the one that put that damned net there in the first place. Like, who the hell would put a net there in the first place?!"
"Someone who wanted to catch some animals." I cracked a joke, which caused the guys to all burst out laughing.
"Well, why don't you and Spike just head back to our house? Kevin and I have to talk with Wilbur and Orville."
"Ok. Love you, Dad." I said, as Spike and I hopped on our bikes to go back to my house.
Spike's POV:
When I woke up, I wasn't exactly sure where I was. But then I sat up and saw Sean, sleeping in the other bed.
I was just sitting in the bed, when the phone rang. I picked it up. "Hello?" I felt extremely tired.
"Hey, do you mind meeting me in the woods before football practice? I need to talk to you." Becky's sweet voice came through the phone, which sent a ray of butterflies throughout my entire stomach.
"Oh, shit! I forgot we had practice today. But yes, I'll meet you. Just give me a few minutes." She hung up the phone.
"Sean! Get your butt up!" I shouted.
"Huh?" He snorted, shooting up in his bed. "Spike? Why are you yelling? It's only 9'o'clock!"
"Not only is it 9'o'clock! We also have football practice today!"
"Oh god! I forgot! I'll just take my bag with me. Change when I get there." He ran around the room, gathering all of his things together. "Are you coming?"
"Um, yeah. But you go ahead. I'll be a while." I said, as I also grabbed my duffel bag, throwing my football stuff in it.
It took me literally like 3 or 4 hours to find my cleats. Everything else was super easy to find, but those damn cleats always end up hiding from me.
Once I finally got everything together, I grabbed my helmet, then got on my bike. I rode to the woods where we normally meet at. I knew I was right in coming here, because I could see her bike propped up on a tree.
When I got in a little deeper, I realized that even though her bike was there, she wasn't. "Did she leave already? Well, I guess I am pretty late." I said.
"I didn't leave! I'm up here!" I heard a voice that sounded a lot like Becky, shout.
"Becks? Where are you?" I looked all around the ground below, in a hope of seeing her.
"Look up at the tree!"
Confused, I looked up at the tree. And believe me, I was very shocked to see my girlfriend hanging in the air, in a net. My mouth dropped open, in surprise. "How'd you get up there? Where did that net come from?"
"I don't know. But I think the net is a trap for wild animals or something."
"Hang on! I just saw a guy with a forklift. I'll see if he'll light me up to you." I ran out of the woods, in the direction of where I saw the guy.
It took me forever to remember where I saw him. Then I heard a whirring sound and I knew I was getting closer. "Hello! Sir! I need your help!" I shouted, running over to him.
"Yes?"
"My girlfriend is stuck in a tree. She's trapped in a net."
"Ok, I'll help you. Just lead me to where she is."
I lead him to the woods. He drove the forklift in, with me on the forks in the front. He raised me higher and higher until I was where I could get down safely.
"Hang on! Let me just get out my knife." I reached into my shorts pocket and pulled out my Swiss Army Knife.
I cut the net, to the point of where she jumped in my arms, as the net fell to the ground. I felt tears in my eyes. "Becks, why do you always get yourself in these situations? I was so scared."
"You? I was scared that I was going to get hurt. Well, at first, I was, but then for some reason , it wasn't so scary anymore."
"Well, I'm just glad that you're ok." I said, hugging her.
The guy set us back down on the ground and we hopped off the forklift. "You ok, honey?" He asked, as he pulled off his hat. He was looking right at Becks.
"Yeah, I'm alright. I was just scared."
"Well, if you're sure." He drove it back towards the road.
We followed pursuit and hopped on our bikes as we passed them to FINALLY head to football practice. When we got there Coach Danny was pacing back and forth on the field, with Coach Kevin on the sidelines, talking to someone on the phone.
When he saw us walk onto the field, he basically came sprinting over to us. He pulled her into a ginormous hug. "Becky! Where have you been? I've been worried sick!" He exclaimed, after he he pulled apart from her. "Spike, what happened?"
I just decided to tell the truth and nothing but the truth. "Well, she called me and asked me to meet her in the woods before football practice. And when I finally did get there, I couldn't find her." I said. "I heard someone shouting, so I looked up at the trees. Becky was trapped in a net, that someone had put down to catch wild animals."
"Becky, sounds like you had a rough morning. I'm sorry that happened. Are you ok?" Coach Danny asked.
"Yeah, Dad. I'm fine. Just a little shook up, if you know what I mean." She smiled at her dad. "So, who's ready to practice?"
She looked around the field, as the guys stared at her. They were all putting up their stuff in their duffel bags. "Becky, practice is over. You were a little late." Junior said.
"How late?" Becks wondered, looking up at her brother.
"Oh about... five hours late." He rolled his at her, sarcastically.
She gasped as her eyes widened in surprise. Honestly, I was surprised that we missed the whole practice. "Gee, Dad. I'm sorry I missed it."
"Becky, it wasn't your fault. You got stuck to where you couldn't come. It's not your fault. The person whose fault it is, is the one that put that damned bet there in the first place. Like, who the hell would put a bet there in the first place?!"
Becky giggled. "Someone who wanted to catch some animals." Everyone cracked up at that.
"Well, why don't you and Spike just head back to our house? Kevin and I have to talk with Wilbur and Orville." Coach Danny said.
"Ok, love you, Dad." She said. Then we grabbed our bikes and rode straight to her house.
As soon as we opened the door, Junior met us at the door. "Hi, how you doing?" He grinned at us. There was something particularly evil, in his grin. "So, what were you guys really doing? Got caught up in making out?"
Becky choked on her air, eyes widening. "What... what makes you think we were?" She asked, struggling to talk.
"Oh, I don't know. Maybe just the fact that you have a hickey on your neck. That wasn't there yesterday."
I looked at her neck, and sure enough, something that definitely looked like a hickey, was on her neck, barely visible. "Oh, it must've happened when the rope from the net rubbed against my neck."
"Oh," He said, frowning. "Sorry."
We burst out laughing, as we went into the kitchen to find something to eat. I made both of us a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a cup of milk. "Ooh, thanks." She grabbed it out of my hand and bit into it.
I ate mine in like, a minute or two. Then suddenly, I yawned and I realized how sleepy I felt. "Hey, I'm going to take a nap, ok?" I turned to Becks, to see that she was already conked out.
I smiled, then put my head on her shoulder and fell asleep with her.
