Becky's POV:

Later that afternoon, I decided I needed to call Spike, to see what time we needed to meet.

"Hello?" He asked.

"Hey, it's Becky. I was wondering what time you want to meet for our date."

"Oh, well, just meet me at the football field on your bike. Then I'll lead the way from there. I'm surprising you, remember?"

"Oh, yeah. I forgot. But still, what time?"

"Oh, uh, maybe 2 o'clock? Does that sound good to you?" I smiled.

"Yes, that's perfect. I'll meet you at the football field at 2 o'clock. See you soon. Love you."

"Love you too." Spike said, as he hung up the phone.

I went to my clothes and pulled out my long cargo shorts and a red, white, and black flannel shortsleeved shirt with my Doc Martin boots.

This is just perfect, I thought, as I laced my boots up. I went into the bathroom and just put on a little bit of makeup.

You know, just a little blush and clear lipgloss. Not too much, though. I'm still not a makeup fan. I just want to look nice when I'm around Spike.

I put on my baseball cap then I walked into the kitchen. I found Junior and my dad and his mom, eating breakfast at the table.

"Good morning, everyone." I said, as I took out the cereal.

"Good morning, sweetheart. How'd you sleep?" Dad asked, kissing me on the forehead.

"Pretty good. But I just need to let you know that at 2 o'clock, I'm meeting Spike at the football field. Then he's taking me to some place for a date. It's a surprise, though." I said.

Junior grinned at me. "Why do you look like a cat that ate a damn canary?" I asked, grinning.

"Because I know where he's taking you, but I was sworn to secrecy. So, my lips are sealed! Good luck getting it out of me!" He grinned even wider.

"Did he ask you on ideas about what I'd like to do?" I was really curious.

"Yeah, so I just told him a lot of things that you like to do. I think you'll be very pleased with what we planned." He smirked at me and I glowered at him.

"So, you mean you aren't going to even give me a hint?" I questioned, staring him down, with my fire eye glare.

His eyes started to twitch. But then he closed his eyes and grinned. "Nope. You're out of luck, I presume."

"Ugh." I was disgusted that he found a way around my eye glare; it normally works.

I poured the Coca Pebbles into a bowl. Then I opened the fridge to get the milk, but I couldn't find any. "Dad, do we have any milk?"

"No, sorry, honey. You can run to the grocery store and buy some."

"I thought y'all bought groceries yesterday?" I inquired, confused.

"We did, but we forgot to get the milk. Can you go to town and buy some, please?"

"Yeah, I can." I grabbed my helmet and wallet.

I grabbed my bike then rode to the grocery store. When I got there, I saw Murphy's bike in the bike rack. And right next to it, was Spike's.

Oh, I didn't know that they were here. I wonder why they're here, maybe Spike's getting something for our date?

I walked inside and went to where they keep the milk. Then I began to hear loud, booming voices, just in the next aisle. I looked between the slats and saw Spike and Murphy, tossing rolls of toilet paper into a shopping cart.

"Yeah! Touchdown!" Spike shouted, laughing and grinning. "Get it, Murph! Come on, you got it!"

Murphy leapt upward, throwing the toilet paper, directly in the shopping kart. "Yes! Uh-huh, I'm the man!"

I got up on the pullouts of the cabinet and leaned forward, spying on them. I began to hear it squeak and they looked around, all suspicious like.

"Did you hear that?" Spike asked.

I leaned forward more, when I got the surprise of my life. "Hey, you!" Murphy jumped up, peeking at me from behind the other side of the slats.

"Ahh!" I cried, as I fell, pulling down all the Little Debbie cakes down with me.

Spike and Murphy came running over, and they stifled their laughter, as they stared down at me. "Becks, are you ok?" Spike helped me up off the floor.

"Yeah, I'm ok." I brushed off my hands, because I was. I'm no wimp.

"Were you spying on us?" Spike smirked at me. "Perhaps wanting to hear the oh-so secret details of our date?"

"I wasn't! I swear, I just came to get some milk! But I heard someone shouting, so naturally I was curious."

"It's okay, I was just kidding." He grinned. "I'll see you at the football field at 2 o'clock."

"Ok, see you later. Bye, Murphy." I said, before I went to go pay.

"Bye, Becky." He responded, smiling.

I went up to the cashier and paid for the milk. "Thanks."

I walked out and rode back to my house. I put my bike and my helmet in the garage, before I walked inside.

I walked inside and put the milk in the fridge. "There you go. I got the milk."

"Thanks, sweetheart. I'm sorry we forgot to get it." Dad smiled at me, sheepishly.

"It's ok. Don't worry about it." I said, as I sat down on the couch, waiting on Spike to call.

Spike's POV:

It was later that day, when I got a phone call. "Hello?" I asked.

"Hey, it's Becky. I was wondering what time you want to meet for our date." I smiled at the sound of her voice, something about it just makes me crazy. I love her so much, I don't really know how to explain it, but I know that I love her.

"Oh, well, just meet me at the football field on your bike. Then I'll lead the way from there. I'm surprising you, remember?"

"Oh, yeah. I forgot. But still, what time?" She sounded a bit impatient and I knew I'd hit the mark. The wrong one, though.

"Oh, uh, maybe 2 o'clock? Does that sound good to you?" I knew it would, she rarely says no to what I suggest.

"Yes, that's perfect. I'll meet you at the football field at 2 o'clock. See you soon. love you." That made me smile and sent a ray of butterflies throughout my stomach. I know what you're going to say. That's a saying only girls use.

"Love you too." I hung up the phone and put it back down on the dresser. I made my way to closet to get what I wanted to wear.

I decided to wear something simple. You know, like a old football jersey and a pair of jeans. I found my black and white Conversed sneakers, like always buried under a big pile of clothes.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, I hear the bedroom door open and I turned to see Murphy. "What are you doing? Like, right now?"

"Right now? Well, right now, I'm planning a date for Becks and I. Why?"

"You want to ride our bikes to the grocery store?"

"Why?" I asked, confused.

"I was going to play touchdown in the store?"

"Huh?" I was so confused now. "You can't play football in a store. What are you? Nuts?"

"No, I was going to throw rolls of toilet paper into a shopping cart. Like Junior did four years ago."

"Oh, ok. Then I don't mind doing that. Let's go!"

We walked out our bedroom door and out to his front yard, were we put our bikes this morning. I put on my helmet and we were headed off towards the grocery store.

In a few minutes, we got there and put our bikes in the bike rack.

I walked to where they keep the shopping charts and grabbed one. We stopped on the aisle where the rolls of toilet paper were and I grabbed the first one. I got in the position to throw it and it sunk into the shopping cart, opposite us. "Uh-huh! Touchdown!" I cried, whooping.

"My turn, Hammersmith. Can you hand me a roll of toilet paper, please?" I handed him one.

He threw it and with a flick of the wrist, it landed in the shopping cart opposite us. "Yeah! Touchdown!" I cried, laughing and grinning. "Get it, Murph! Come on, you got it!"

He leaped forward and threw another one, and it landed directly into the cart. " Yes! Uh-huh, I'm the man."

Suddenly, out of nowhere, I began to look around. I knew that Murphy heard it too. I looked all around us, searching for the cause of the sound. "Did you hear that?"

For some strange reason, he ducked down and when I heard the shelf squeak the second time, he popped up.

"Hey, you!"

"Ahhh!" A loud crash came from the other side and we both ran to see who'd been spying on us.

When we reached the other side, I saw Becky, sprawled out on the floor. She was covered with a bunch of Little Debbie cake boxes.

Murphy and I laughed, then tried to stifle it, before she lit into us both. "Becks, are you okay?" I helped her off the floor.

"Yeah, I'm okay." She brushed her hands on her shorts.

"Were you spying on us?" I smirked at her. "Perhaps wanting to hear the oh-so secret details of our date?"

She began to look frantic. "I wasn't! I swear, I just came to get some milk! But I heard someone shouting, so naturally I was curious."

"It's okay, I was just kidding." I grinned at her. "I'll see you at the football field at 2 o'clock."

"Ok, see you later. Bye, Murphy." She walked away and went to go pay for the milk she had got.

"Bye, Becky."

Once I was sure she had left, I turned to Murphy and grinned. "Think she heard us?"

"Nah, I don't she is that good of an actor. Or else she would have said something to us." He's right. If she had heard us talking before she'd walked over, she definitely would have brought it up.

"All I ask for is, that Junior didn't already tell her. I want the picnic at the football field to be a secret. Meeting at the football field was just a ruse to get her there."

"She's in for the surprise of her life. I can't believe she didn't tell you that it was her birthday. She was really trying to keep that from you. I don't see why though."

"She probably didn't want to make a big deal out of it." I grinned. "But hey, I was the one that invited her out on this date. Little does she know, it's a surprise party. With only two guests, just Becks and I."

"I think she'll be really surprised." Murphy looked down at his watch and his eyes widened. "Dude, it's already 1:20. You need to get heading to the football field to set everything up."

"Crap, you're right. See you later after the date."

"Bye."

I ran outside to the bike rack and unchained my bike. I put on my helmet and rode straight to the football field.

Everything was pretty much already set up, just not the movie screen I bought. I plugged it up and I put her favorite movie, Mighty Ducks, in the player. All I had to left to was to wait on Becks to get here.

About five or six minutes after I got there, Becks rode up on her bike. Her mouth was open as she walked closer, taking in the sight.

Becky's POV:

When I realized that Spike wasn't going to call, I decided to go ahead and ride my bike to the football field instead. When I got there, I was honestly pretty shocked to see the football field all done up.

He really went all out, I thought, staring at the football field in amazement. "Surprised?" he asked, grinning.

"Very."

"One of the main reasons why I did this was because Junior told me it was your birthday and I wanted to do something special for you."

Junior told him? That weasel! "He told you?"

"Yeah, but why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't want to make a big deal about it, ok? Is that so bad?"

"No, but this party here only has two people on the guest list. You and me; I didn't invite anyone else.

"Really?"

"Yeah, I didn't. I didn't want to overdo it. Especially when you didn't tell me that it was your birthday." He smiled at me and I just had to smile back. He's so caring.

"I'm glad that you care about me! I love you so much."

"I love you too, Becks. Happy birthday, Becks. You're 15 years old now. How's it feel?"

"Truthfully? Honestly? Weird, but I like it. I'm growing up."

"We all grow up at some point. I turned 15 last month and believe me, a lot has changed since then." He started staring at, grinning. "For one, I'm dating you now and a month ago, I never would've even thought about you in the romantic way."

"Hey!" I punched him on his shoulder, laughing playfully. "You should've always liked me. I always thought you did."

"I think I did, but didn't realize it until we'd grown up, if you know what I mean." He grinned sheepishly, blushing. "Well, hey, you ready to start the movie?"

I grinned. "You bet. What movie did you get?"

"I got your favorite movie." He grinned.

"Which one? Blank Check or The Big Green?"

"Neither. I got Mighty Ducks, mainly because I know how much you liked that movie."

"Aww, thanks for considering my feelings." I felt touched; he's the best boyfriend and honestly, my 10 year old self would try to knock some sense into me. But the reality of it is that Spike grew up. He's no longer that sexist 10 year old boy who moved here four years ago.

He's a real gentleman now, other than when we're playing football. "You're welcome, Becks. I hope this birthday is your best one yet." He expressed his feelings for me in ways I never imagined he would. "Shall I go start the movie?" He grinned at me.

I grinned back at him. "You shall." He got up and went to the dvd player and hit play. My favorite movie came on the screen and my happiness was complete. I don't know why I didn't tell him it was my birthday to start with.

He's made my 15th birthday magical. What else could a girl ask for? I know! A kiss! I leaned forward and captured his lips in mine, tasting the sweet taste of Gobstoppers.

After we pulled apart, he stared at me, his eyes shining as bright as the sun. "Becks, I can never explain the way a feel for you, but that kiss did it all for me. It showed me the sunset on a Wednesday night, while we're eating cotton candy and kissing."

Those words brought tears to my eyes as he pulled me to him, where we kissed and kissed and kissed. My, Oh, My. How this makes me feel...I don't have the words, as he makes me go speechless.

"Spike, I love you. I don't have the words to say it, sometimes, but those four words go a long way. And it makes me feel great."

"I love you too, Becks. I never expected that I would date you, but I'm glad that I finally came to my senses and realized how much you mean to me."

I reached for him and pulled him in for a hug. I love the way he makes me feel. I can't believe that I couldn't see how we'd make a good couple when we were younger.

We put our focus back on the movie and he opened up the picnic basket he'd brought. I gasped when I saw what was in the bottom of it.

He pulled out an yellow buttercream cake with 'Happy Birthday, Becks' on the surface of the cake. "Thank you! It looks beautiful. I love it!"

"I'm glad. It cost me 30 bucks, an additional 10 for the writing on the top."

"You paid 30...for me?" I was a little shocked.

"Yeah, I did. It's your birthday, let me spend a little bit of money on you." He pulled a gift bag out of the picnic basket, followed by a thing of KFC chicken. "Here. This is also for you. Tell me if you like it."

I opened it and pulled out a brand spanking new football. "Gee, thanks. I love it!"

He grinned. "There's more."

"More?" I stuck my hand in and pulled out a box. A small brown box. I opened it and marveled at the small golden hoop earrings. "Oh, Spike. This has been one of the best birthdays, ever."

"I'm glad that you like it. It cost me 15, which honestly, isn't a lot. But I'll do anything for you, no matter the cost."

I hugged him as close as I could, thanking God for the best boyfriend I could ask for. I love him so much.

We ate our subs then after, we headed to our houses. When I walked in the front door, I was meet by Junior, who was grinning away.

"Did you enjoy your little surprise?"

I answered him, by giving him a huge hug. "It was the best night. Thanks for suggesting it to him. I really needed this tonight."

"You're welcome, Becky. Happy birthday, by the way. you're 15 now."

"I know! Ugh, don't remind me of how old I'm getting." I grinned at him, which made him roll his eyes.

Later that night, after I'd spent some time with Dad, Patty, Junior, Kaden, and Brian, I went to my bedroom. I relived all the kisses from earlier, as I drifted to sleep.
