ATHENA CAMANIRE- ISOLDA DYCHAUK

District 3, Panem. Reaping day.

Athena Camanire stood in rows along with the other young girls of District 3. The video recapping how the Hunger Games had come to be had just finished playing and the handler for the District 3 tributes was now reaching into one of the big glass bowls to select the name of the male tribute. He shouted out the boy's name to the entire crowd. Some of the boy's friends clapped him on the back comfortingly, knowing that this was probably goodbye.

It was a name that Athena did not know and for that, she was thankful. It would have turned the Hunger Games into an even more perverted kind of Hell if she had been forced to kill someone she knew; or worse, someone she actually cared about. The boy was neither through and even though she didn't want to kill him, at least it wouldn't deliver an extra strong to her conscience if she was indeed forced to do so. Of course, all of this only mattered if she was indeed reaped; which Athena could only hope and pray would not be the case.

"And now for the ladies!" The handler called out as he stuck his hand into the female's bowl. Every pre teen and teen girl in District 3 held their breath as he pulled out the name.

"Athena Camanire!" The handler announced as the girl in question looked as though her dog had just been run over by a car right in front of her. Despite all of her thinking about what would happen if she was reaped, Athena hadn't actually thought that it could happen to her.

As she made her way to the podium, alongside her male co-tribute, Athena cursed the capital for not allow technology into the arena. Very few people in District 3 were more skilled at the fine art of hacking than her and she knew that if the Hunger Games were in cyberspace, she would be the Victor within 10 minutes.

While she stood on the podium, Athena locked eyes with Patrick Engle. The man was like a Fagin for child computer whizzes and her legal guardian. He was the only family that Athena had besides her uncle Karnie, who was the biggest tech CEO in all of Panem. Patrick shot her a sad smile as he could tell that the odds of her coming back were slim to none, but he refused to let anyone see how shitty he felt at losing one of his kids. Meanwhile, Athena stood as proud as she could with a wide smile on her face. She couldn't show any fear; despite how fearful she was. Patrick wouldn't want her to give the Capitolites the satisfaction of seeing her scared.
