Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Crystal Lizard. Enjoy the 2500-word chapter. I don't own My Hero Academia. Shonen Jump, Kohei Horikoshi and a few others do.
Quartz was left to skate around the city, gliding around on a grouping of crystals that broke behind him. He hummed, curious as to how this would end up going.
He perched atop a crystal, looking around as he did so. There was plenty of work to be done in the city. There were plenty of villains crawling around as he paused. Quartz brushed some loose stone off his costume.
He turned and gazed upon the city with bits of crystal fluttering about as he did so. His goggles sparkled while he stood up. There was a lot of interest in the city, all of which made him curious as to how this would go. He was quite curious.
"Hmm…" Quartz stated as he shook his head, rubbing at his temples as he did so. "There was plenty of trouble in the city. I cannot question what happens next." Quartz added as he slowly stood up.
The crystal-themed hero was quite interested in this day's events. There were plenty of things to factor in, the villains would be interested in causing as much trouble and damage as possible. He couldn't respond to all of it when it came down to it.
"Ok, what is the first thing I handle first?" Quartz questioned as he shook as he looked around the room. "There's got to be something." Quartz said before the sound of sirens was quite curious how they were dealing with it.
Quartz watched as dozens of police reports as cops screeched down the street. Quartz sighed before he shook his head as he moved his goggles down over his head and threw himself into the street. Quartz began to ride on a slide of crystals, interested in how this would go.
"Police, there's always the police." Quartz stated as he sighed. "There's plenty of villains who are quite hopeful. There's plenty of bad guys in town and just too many villains to deal with them all." Quartz as he sighed to himself, shaking his head.
"Where are they?" Quartz pointed out as he hummed to himself. "I could only point out how best to handle this. There's got to be a way to win." Quartz stated before he stopped, skidding down the street as he did so.
Quartz hummed, hearing the sound of gunfire as he rushed forward. There was a screech as a van smashed through the wall, roaring forward with dollar bills flying out of the rusted doors on the back. He could only sigh to himself as he summoned up more crystals.
Quartz watched as bullets sailed through his shield before he sent crystals forward, cutting through the air. There was an explosion as the back tire exploded in a shred of rubber. Quartz went to attack the car once again as he tossed more shards towards the craft.
He was curious as he did so. There were plenty of criminals in the city. However? Quartz wasn't stupid. He knew plenty of the police were busy with dozens of other cases, he knew that there was also plenty of people counting on him when it came down to it.
"Crap…" Quartz stated as he shook his head, lowering himself to the ground. "This is becoming ridiculous," Quartz added as he pulled up another wall of crystal to block the gunshots.
"This is ridiculous." Quartz stated before another sound filled the air, the sound of more gunfire as he rolled. "This is the 7th robbery this week," Quartz added as he heard the sound of bullets pinging off the crystal.
"Shoot him!" Quartz heard as he narrowed his eyes.
"We need more police or heroes or something. There's nothing I can do by myself." Quartz put in as he sighed to himself. "I need backup or something," Quartz added before he looked over his shoulder.
"Hmm." Quartz said as he looked at the SUV which had slammed into another parked car. "Well, at the very least? We can put in that they're not skilled drivers when it comes down to it." Quartz joked to himself.
There was another flash of light, bullets flew towards him as he ducked behind the wall. They bounced off the stones, falling to the ground. It almost made Quartz chuckle to himself if he wasn't being shot at.
"Someone, blast the brat so we can get the hell out of here!" Quartz heard the robbers state while he started to roll his eyes.
Quartz also knew that they were more dangerous than they looked. It only took one bullet to take him down and possibly kill him. He was entirely ready to call for backup at the moment. There were almost no options to deal with the robbers who were all armed with automatic weapons.
One of the robbers rushed around the cover towards him, Quartz fired a blast of crystals from his hands which slammed into the man. He made sure to not stab the man with the needle-sharp ends of the weapons.
He snorted as the man stumbled backward and slammed over the car behind him. Quartz raised his eyebrows while he started to think. He was cut off by the sounds of sirens as a police car started to roar up towards them.
"Well, that helps at the moment." Quartz stated to himself while he raised his eyebrow. "I should take out the ones with guns while they are distracted," Quartz added before he started to attack once more.
He fired a blast of crystals which spiraled out from his hands and towards the thugs. He watched as another police car revved towards them.
"I cannot believe that you decided to rob a bank in the middle of broad daylight as it seems," Quartz added to himself while he chuckled to himself. "Seriously? Who does that?" Quartz stated to which he started before he shook his head.
"Blast the brat!" Quartz heard from the thugs as he slammed into one of the thugs. "Damn it!" Quartz also heard to which he started to roll his eyes.
There was a smirk on his face as he slammed the man into the wall. He turned to watch the thugs who were panicking between the police and the hero who was overpowering them all at the moment.
(10 minutes later)
Quartz looked at the captured criminals who were busy being detained. The surge in crime worried him, but not to a panic-inducing degree. He was aware of the fact they needed him just like they needed all heroes within the city on the front lines.
Still? It disturbed him how brazen these attempts were to sow chaos and damage within the city. He knew that the criminals were starting to get bolder after All for One returned… But to be operating past this threshold like this?
He was rather interested in what to do next. He was hopeful when it came down to it. He was rather interested in what to do next. He hummed to himself as he raised a hand to the sky while he frowned to himself.
"There's too much crime in the world." Quartz stated while he frowned to himself. "It comes down to heroes like me to try and fix the world we live in," Quartz said while he frowned to himself.
He clicked his fingers together while he started to think of what to do next. The duty he had to the world wasn't something he was able to ignore either at the end of the day. It bothered him that there was so little that we were able to fill the gap set by their old symbol. It honestly made him roll his eyes more.
'Who is going to scare the villains and make the place safer? I won't be able to. My quirk is more fragile than his. It doesn't bring the same security that his power had.' Quartz thought as he frowned to himself.
Still? He still wanted to do something at the time to make this planet a lot less dangerous. He wasn't to be the symbol of justice, but it also meant that he was able to do something else to protect this planet when it came to protecting people. All he had to do at the moment was simply wait and see what came next.
The fact there were so many heroes also made him smile. There might have been only a handful of people who were able to be the next Might in the world. He knew there was NO shortage of heroes who were willing to take the fight to evil at the end of the day and that was the best news the world had in his mind.
Still? He had to plan a lot more if he was going to help make a dent in crime in the city. He needed to help more heroes and make certain they were able to handle bigger crime lords.
"We need to be able to handle the League of Villains. There's no end to the number of people All-For-One seems to honestly be able to recruit." Quartz stated with a sigh as he realized that they had plenty of monsters in the path to peace. "Well. Today is going to be rather interesting." Quartz stated while he frowned to himself.
He rolled his eyes and then sighed to himself and leaned on the wall with interest. He wanted to speak to the rest of the heroes and started to walk back towards the city. The more time that he was able to devote to the plans that he had mentally created? The more time he was able to push back the threats and plan how to help more people.
Still? He needed help when he cleared his throat and mentally prepared for it. How did someone deal with an entire army of monsters that needed to be handled? How did someone clear out the rest of the city and keep his head above water to be prepared?
He heard the sound of something floating through the air while he cleared his throat. He had been rather thrown off by what he saw which was a floating hand as it slammed into another robber who was getting to their feet. A sound of engines peeled out from the area as he cursed.
More robbers that they hadn't found into now? He watched as more limbs flew by him as he fired another trail of crystals to try and stop the vehicle. He wasn't going to let them slow him down and stop him.
The car peeled out and roared towards them with one of the robbers leaning out the window. There was another muzzle flash with bullets flying through the air towards them. He was angered and scolded himself for letting this bother him and catching him off guard. Quartz stayed silent before watching the car try and slam through the crystal only to find those who were not as brittle as the ones from before.
He simply rolled his eyes before another stream of bullets forced him behind cover once more. The bandits seemed to be entirely focused on escaping rather than stopping the hero.
"Out of the car!" He heard them yell towards him as he frowned to himself and sighed.
'Some criminals don't…' He started to think before the car peeled out and started to rev towards him.
"Damn it…" Quartz muttered before he rolled to the side. "There are plenty of criminals in the world and these try to kill me." Quartz stated before he rolled to the side once more.
He watched the car fly past him and towards the road before he started to reinforce the blockades. He was ready to be done with this crime and onto the next one. He cleared his throat and sighed to himself before he rolled his eyes under his costume. He cleared his throat and slowly stood up as the hands from before and watched the limbs fly around with reckless abandon.
He looked around before he started to gaze into the air where he found the source of the hands. He smiled and started to blink. He smiled to himself as he nodded and prepared to slowly stand to his feet.
"Lizardy?" Quartz asked before he frowned and started to brush off his arms and costume. "What is she doing here?" Quartz questioned with a raised eyebrow.
He grunted in pain as he realized that he had been still tired and slowly beaten to the ground by this. The fact that he had been pushed to this degree was more than telling how serious this had become. This had been a lot tougher than he had imagined at the time. she was a lot tougher to defeat than she seemed and it appeared she had known this.
Still? If Lizardy was here? This had been far more serious than he had expected. Honestly? He didn't complain about anything, reinforcements were one of the few things he wished to have if he was honest. This was not to be easy for the time being, but if it helped anything. There was a lot more to be solved by the time this ended than anything else.
One of the limbs planned into one of the bandits and sent them skidding to the ground as he prepared to help. It seemed as if every bandit slowly dropped to the ground. He raised an eyebrow only to realize that there was more to this than her simply appearing and defeating the bandits for him.
"What in the name of hell is Lizardy doing her anyway? She's not usually going around on patrol I think. Honestly, I lost count of how many times I asked that question." Quartz said before he slowly started to climb to his feet and stared around at his surroundings.
"Something else is going on." Quartz said before he pulled himself from his location and stared around at his surroundings. "Why so many bandits for something as simple as a smash and grab like this? They'd never do something so stupid as lay out this many henchmen for something that complicated. Not unless they're stupider than a bunch of rocks." Quartz muttered before he rolled his eyes at his bad joke.
He pondered what had brought so many thugs to this place. Sure, money was a good option, but if they all wanted something? Each robbing a store would have been smarter as it split up the heroes and forced them all to come at this from different angles. He expected there may have been a reason behind that, but he really couldn't see any reasons for it so far.
