Hermione's POV:

Once Bella was back, we decided to make spaghetti carbonara for dinner. It was simple and quick to make, and it was a dish that all three of us loved even though Charlie wouldn't admit it. When we sat down at the table both sets of eyes were on me.

"Okay, what's happened in the world of magic in the last few years?" Charlie asked.

"So much. So much that I don't even know where to start." I admitted.

"I'm guessing not everything that happened was good by that statement, the look on your face and the tone of your voice." Bella said.

"You would be correct. Long story short, there was a war, I was a fugitive, I almost died many times during said war and lots of people did die." I told them.

"Um, what?!" They exclaimed.

"We are going to need the full story." Charlie said.

I spent the next two and half hours explaining to them everything that happened. From Voldemort's attempts on Harry's life every school year, except third year, to what happened during the war. Once I had finished my tale we sat in complete silence.

"I umm, I don't, I don't know how to respond to that." Bella murmured.

"So that's why you stopped visiting and the letters stopped arriving?" Charlie questioned.

"I want to keep you guys safe, I didn't want them to use you as leverage against me. It's also the reason I removed myself from my parent's memory and they died not knowing they had a child." I whispered, fresh tears rolled down my face.

"I think somewhere in their minds they would have remembered you." He stated.

"I think so too." Bella agreed.

"I hope so. I hope that somewhere in their minds they remembered me" I said.

"So just to make sure, this Voldemort is really dead this time, right?" Charlie wondered.

"Yes, I saw his demise with my own eyes. He was hit with a spell and literally disintegrated." I answered.

"That is disturbing, but not as much as the rest of the story." Bella stated.

"Nah, the word I use is horrifying." I replied.

"Well, you definitely can't use any good words to describe that story." Charlie said.

"I'm going to head to bed, between jet lag and telling that story, I really need some sleep." I announced.

My uncle and cousin wished me a good night with a hug each and then I headed upstairs to my room, got ready for bed and as soon as my head hit the pillow I was out like a light.

The next morning I woke up before dawn from a nightmare like I had been for a while now. This one was different though. It wasn't about the war like it usually was, it was something else entirely. All I remember of it is seeing flashes of red and golden eyes and something that moved extremely fast. I knew that the remnants of my dream would annoy me all day if I didn't look into it. So, after I rolled out of bed, showered and had some food I cracked open my books on magical creatures.

A knock on my door broke my focus on reading. I looked at the time and realise an hour had elapsed. It had been an hour and I hadn't found anything on a creature with red or golden eyes that could move impossibly fast.

There was another knock at my door to which I responded with "Come in."

"Hey Hermione, I didn't know if you would be awake or not but if you were, like you obviously are, I just wanted to let you know I'm off to work and I won't be back until close to dinner." Charlie told me.

"Thanks for letting me know and I didn't say it last night but thanks for letting me stay here until I find my own place." I responded.

"You're my niece, there is no need to thank me. I'll always be there for you, whether it's a roof over your head or just someone to talk to." He stated.

"Still, thank you." I replied.

"Alright, I'm off. I may be the chief, but I can't be late." He said.

"Drive safe, I'll see you later." I told him.

Once my door had been shut, I returned to the book hoping to figure out what was in my dream. After another hour and a half, I found what I was looking for and I didn't like what it was.

"Bella, we need to talk." I told her as she descended the stairs.

"What's up?" She wondered taking a seat at the table.

"We aren't talking here, we are going to talk at your boyfriends house with him and his family." I stated as calmly as I could.

"Okay, do you want to tell me what this is about?" She responded.

"Not until we are there." I answered.

"Let's go then, I was headed over there anyway." Bella said.

Before we headed out, I made sure I had my wand in my pocket just in case I needed it. I never go anywhere without it these days, you never know what may happen.

"Just so you know they live in a secluded house so it's normally a half hour drive but in my truck it takes nearly double that to arrive." She warned.

"That's fine, gives us time to talk about whatever we want." I replied.

It took a few minutes to get the truck started, but seeing as it was 60's style Chevrolet, that was to be expected.

"This vehicle won't explode or anything right?" I questioned.

"No." She responded with a laugh. "The worst thing that could happen would be the engine stopping when we are too far away to walk the rest of the way."

"That is slightly comforting, you still need a new car though." I stated.

"You sound like Edward." Bella told me.

"Well, if he is concerned about the safety of you driving this, I agree with him." I replied.

"I don't need a new car or truck, I'm driving this until it no longer works." She said.

"I forgot how stubborn you are." I murmured.

"Hey!" She objected. "Your stubborn as well."

"I know." I agreed. "It runs in the family."

For twenty minutes of the trip, we sat in silence and I winded my window down to enjoy the scent of fresh rain as we drove down a winding road separating part of the forest.

I broke the silence by asking Bella, "How's Jacob, Sam and the rest of the guys on the rez?"

"I haven't actually seen them in a while, so I don't know." She admitted.

"Why?" I wondered.

"I just haven't." Was her defensive answer.

"Sorry, it's just unusual. The last time I was here you begged Charlie or my parents to take us to see them all the time." I whispered.

"Somethings have changed between me and them." She confessed.

"Want to talk about it?" I questioned.

"No, not right now." She answered.

"Okay, I'm here if you ever want to talk." I responded.

Bella simply replied with a nod of her head and an "I know."

It took us longer than the predicted hour to arrive at the Cullen household, as the truck engine stalled when we were stopped at a stop sign. The good thing is though that it was all good again ten minutes later. I did a double take of the house and my jaw dropped.

"This is their house?!" I exclaimed.

"Yeah, I had the same reaction when I first saw it as well." Bella stated.

What I was looking at wasn't a house. It was like a mini mansion in a modern-day style.

"Hey Bella, hey Hermione." Edward greeted us.

I didn't even notice he was at the door until he had spoken. The second I laid eyes on him though, I remembered why I had my cousin bring me here.

"I thought it was just Bella coming, but this is a nice surprise. My family has wanted to meet you ever since Bella excitedly told them you were coming." Edward said.

"I had Bella bring me here because I wanted to meet your family but also because I need to speak with you all." I confessed.

"Yeah sure, they're all here." He replied.

Edward motioned for us to come inside. We followed him through the house to a massive sitting room, where people from his family were talking amongst one another.

"Hey Bella." A woman with a pixie hair cut greeted Bella as she bounced over to wrap her in a hug.

"Hey Alice." My cousin returned sentiment.

"Who is this?" She wondered.

"This is my cousin Hermione." Bella responded.

"Oh my god, I've heard so much about you, it's so lovely to finally meet you." Alice stated.

A few seconds later I was the one wrapped in her arms in a hug. She felt as cold and hard as stone as when I touched Edward. When she pulled back and smiled at me, I saw her eyes were the same shade as gold as well. It just confirmed what I had discovered earlier in the morning.

"Alice, don't freak her out." Edward told her.

"Sorry." She appoligised as she stepped back.

"It's all good" I assured the pixie haired woman.

"So, Alice, Emmett, Jasper and Rosalie are Edward's adoptive siblings, and these are Edward's adoptive parents Carlisle and Esme." Bella stated, pointing to each one as she told me their names.

"It's so lovely to meet you all and I look forward to getting to know you all." I said.

"We look forward to getting to know you as well Hermione." Esme agreed.

"I came here today not only to meet you all, but to also have a possibly difficult conversation." I informed them.

"What would you like to talk about?" Carlisle wondered.

"I'm going to give you guys one chance and one chance only to answer my question." I told them.

"Okay." Emmett said warily.

"Are you vampires?" I questioned.

They instantly became on guard as soon as the question left my lips.

"I'm sorry, what?" Edward asked.

"I will not be repeating my question, so somebody better answer it." I stated.

"How did you figure it out?" Bella wondered.

"You do remember what I am right? What world I am apart of?" I replied.

"Right, I should have known you would have figured it out." She murmured.

"Wait, you know?!" I shouted.

"I figured it out not long after Edward saved me from being squished by a car." She admitted.

"Who are you and how do you know?" Jasper demanded.

"Also, what are you?" Alice added.

"I'm Hermione Granger and it wasn't that hard for me to figure out. When I met Edward and shook his hand, I noticed he had pale skin, like you all do, his hand was ice cold and hard as stone, like Alice's skin. Then in my dream I saw red and gold eyes and something that moved impossibly fast. So, I looked it up in my books and now I know." I stated.

"You can't find that information in normal books." Carlisle said.

"To answer Alice's question, I am a witch." I told them.

"How are we supposed to believe you?" Rosalie sneered.

I pulled my wand out, pointed it at Bella and said, "You don't mind right?"

"Nah, it's fine." She answered.

"Wingardium leviosa." I murmured.

Bella began to float above the ground. I didn't let her get too high before I muttered the counter spell to bring her back to the ground.

"Is that enough proof Rosalie or do I need to do it to you as well?" I asked the blonde.

"No, I'm good." She snapped.

"Just a warning, I don't do well with people who are rude to me. So, I suggest you get an attitude adjustment for when I am around you." I told her.

"Okay, I like this one." Rosalie announced.

"Were you involved in that wizard war about a year ago?" Jasper wondered.

"You guys know about that?" I returned.

"Yeah, we make sure we know what's going on in the wizarding world even though we aren't actively part of it." Esme said.

"Wait, Hermione Granger? You're the Hermione Granger?" Carlisle asked.

"I'm guessing you know who I am then." I murmured.

"You're the bright witch of the age and part of the reason why Voldemort can no longer terrorise the world." Carlisle gushed.

"You are correct, but I am not here to talk about me. I am here to discuss why my human cousin is dating a freaking vampire." I said.

"I love him and he loves me." Bella responded.

"I know, but there are rules and people who enforce them. The Volturi will kill you if they ever find out that a human knows about vampires that isn't born into the supernatural/magical world." I told her.

"The Volturi kind of already knows." Edward confessed.

"Explain right now." I demanded.

"You want the long version or short version?" Bella questioned.

The look on my face must have indicated which one version I wanted.

"Long one got it." She mumbled.

For over an hour Bella, Edward and the rest of the vampires explained, in plenty of detail, what had happened since the lovebirds had met. By the end of the story, I really wanted to strangle someone.

"I don't see you for two years and all this happens?" I questioned.

"Yeah." Bella admits.

"You tried to kill yourself?!" I exclaimed.

"No, I did not. I went cliff jumping and almost died." She corrected.

"Like that is any better!" I shouted. "At least I know one thing though."

"What's that?" She wondered.

"You really are my cousin." I stated.

"What do you mean by that?" She asked.

"You are such a danger magnet and I seem to only be friends or family with danger magnets." I explained.

"Ahh, that makes sense." She said.

"One question, does Charlie know about any of this?" I questioned.

"No, not any of this. He only knows about you and magic." She answered.

"He can't know about us, it would put him in danger." Carlisle said.

"I know, I just wanted to make sure." I said.

"So, are we cool or are you going to kill us with your magic?" Emmet wondered.

"No, I'm not going to use magic to kill you guys." I assured him. "As much as I don't like what has happened and what will happen, I will just have to get used to the idea of my cousin being surrounded by vampires."

All I wanted was a break from supernatural/magical stuff and here I am surrounded by supernatural stuff. With my luck, this won't be the last of it.
