A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 3 Chapter 10
No sooner does the lunch end some third students from Gryffindor and Slytherin's house head out of the castle for Care of Magical Creatures, following instructions to go down to Hagrid's hut.
It's very fortunate the torrential rain had come to an end last night or else the whole lot of them would've had to endure the lesson in the pouring rain with what Hagrid planned out for them. It would've made it extremely uncomfortable both for kids and canines alike.
Hagrid is patiently waiting for the class at the door of his hut, and he isn't alone. Fang isn't the only dog down there with him.
With Whisper being the exception given she's back inside with Professor McGonagall all the others are out of their enclosure and grouped together.
Dreamer and Charmer are tumbling on the ground in a play-fight. Bounder is gnawing on a bone leftover from a rabbit at breakfast. Bold, Friendly, and Ranger are harassing Fang. The poor boarhound is easily outnumbered and outmatched by Bailey's brood. Tail between his legs and head ducked low, having enough of being the target of their game, Fang makes a break for the house. Fang makes it up the front steps and through the front door, but not before Bold lands a nip on Fang's hindleg. Fang releases a high-pitched yelp, bolting into the house.
Satisfied Bold, Friendly, and Ranger turn their teeth on each other. All three were soon wrestling and tumbling in a chaotic heap of legs and bodies. Friendly's paws shove Ranger deep into a pile of leaves, but his brother wriggles free and grabs his neck in strong jaws. The two end up thudding to the ground. Bold takes this opportunity to pounce on top of them, barking in triumph. Dreamer and Charmer had stopped their play-fight and were now sitting close to Hagrid observing the spectacle.
Scattered and amused laughter rings out from the kids as they see all this unfolding.
As Bailey moves ahead of the class to reach them first, she is spotted. Friendly takes his teeth out of Ranger's ear and sprints up to her, yelping a cheerful greeting. Shaking his muscles loose after the tussle Bold joins him. Alerted by their mother's arrival the others cease their activities to watch her approach.
Dreamer nips affectionately at her mother's muzzle and in return, Bailey lightly licks her between the eyes.
The Gryffindors happily intermingle with the pups while the Slytherins keep their distance.
Clapping his hands together and drawing all eyes onto him, Hagrid said "Come on, now get a move on! Got a real treat for you today! Great lesson coming up! Everyone here? Right, follow me!"
For one nasty moment, Harry has a sneaking suspicion that Hagrid is going to lead them into the forest. The prospect wouldn't have bothered Bailey as much as it would her boy. However, Hagrid strolls off around the edge of the trees with the rest tentatively following his footsteps. They soon find themselves outside a kind of paddock that they haven't been to before.
Bailey doesn't recognize it, but she can tell that more than one something is there despite the naked eye showing no obvious subject.
Her brood are thinking along the same lines as Bailey.
There's something a bit farther out there in the trees.
Bold, Bounder, Friendly, and Ranger are at the fence, sticking their heads through and sniffing the air while Dreamer and Charmer are sticking close to her as a precaution.
Waving his arms for everyone to arrange themselves accordingly, Hagrid said "Everyone gather around the fence here! That's it. Make sure you can see. Now, the first thing you'll want to do is open your books."
"How," demanded Malfoy, speaking for the first time since they arrived.
"Eh," said Hagrid in confusion.
"How do we open our books," repeated Malfoy in frustration, as though conversing with an idiot, taking out his copy of The Monster Book of Monsters.
Others do the same but make no move to open the vicious tomes. Their hesitance is justified or else someone might risk losing a hand.
Looking crestfallen, Hagrid said "Hasn't anyone been able to open their books?"
There's a conjoint shaking of the heads.
"You've got to stroke them. Look here," said Hagrid, taking Hermione's copy to demonstrate.
As soon as he unbinds it the book tried to bite, but Hagrid ran a giant forefinger down its spine. Instantly the book shivers and settles, easily falling open and lying quietly in his hand without any more fuss.
Bailey's litter is very intrigued by these books.
Bold and Bounder are even stretching on their hind legs to get a sniff at it now that it's no longer a threat.
Malfoy doesn't share the sentiment.
Rolling his eyes obnoxiously, Malfoy sneered "Oh, how silly we've all been! We should have stroked them! Why didn't we guess!"
"I think they're funny," said Hermione, raising her chin pointedly, defending Hagrid.
"Oh, tremendously funny," spat Malfoy, scathingly. "Really witty, giving us books that try and rip our hands off."
"Shut up, Malfoy," said Harry, angrily.
Hoping to stop a fight from breaking out, Hagrid said "Right then. You've got your books and now need the Magical Creatures. Yeah. So I'll go and get them. Hang on."
Hagrid then strode away from them into the forest and out of sight.
The class warily opens their textbooks exactly as Hagrid did to make them safe.
Well, most of them at least.
The ever-forgetful Neville gets himself into trouble right away. Neville forgets to strike the spine on his. No sooner is it unbound that the Monster Book of Monsters tries to rip his face off. The class dissolves into peals of laughter watching Neville struggle to hold his book back.
Ranger and Friendly take care of this. Working in unison Ranger tackles the book, knocking the furious tome out of Neville's grip sending some girls standing nearby shrieking away. Friendly then prevents it from pursuing anyone by jumping and planting his forepaws on it in a classic hunter's pounce.
Similar to an alligator and crocodile whose bite function is far stronger than opening its mouth the Monster Book of Monsters isn't able to throw them off. Leaving it successfully subdued.
They've saved Neville from getting too seriously injured. Other than shredded robes he's left relatively unharmed.
Breathlessly patting Ranger and Friendly on the head, Neville panted "Thanks, guys."
Chortling, Ron said "You're supposed to stroke it, Neville."
"I knew that," said Neville, unconvincingly.
"Oh," squealed Lavender Brown, pointing toward the opposite side of the paddock.
Hagrid has returned and with him were about a dozen of the most magnificent creatures Bailey has ever laid eyes on since coming to Hogwarts. They had the bodies, hind legs, and tails of horses, but the front legs, wings, and heads of giant eagles with steel-colored beaks, and large brilliant, and intelligent orange eyes. The talons on their front legs were half a foot long and deadly-looking. Their coats gleam, changing smoothly from feather to hair, each of them a different color. Stormy gray, bronze, pinkish roan, chestnut, and inky black. Each of the beasts had a thick leather collar around its neck for security that was attached to a long chain where the other end is held in Hagrid's strong grip. He tethers them to the fence to keep them in place.
Waving a hand at them happily, Hagrid said "Hippogriff's. Beautiful, aren't they?"
Bailey can certainly see there's a beauty to them, but it's, also, a deadly one. Especially in those paws and hooves of theirs.
A factor Bold is all too eager to test while his brothers and sisters show more restraint. Bold walks up to the nearest one to get a closer look, sniffing at its legs. He would've gotten kicked for his troubles if Charmer hadn't the good sense to tug him back by his tail.
Rubbing his hands together and beaming around, Hagrid said "So if you want to come a bit nearer-."
Harry, Ron, and Hermione are the only ones brave to take up that invitation, approaching the fence apprehensively.
"Now first thing you got to know about hippogriffs is they're proud. Easily offender, hippogriffs are. Don't ever insult one because it might be the last thing you do," warned Hagrid, knowingly.
Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle weren't listening, too busy talking in an undertone. Harry had a nasty feeling they were plotting how best to disrupt the lesson and embarrass Hagrid.
"You always wait for the hippogriff to make the first move. It's polite, see? You walk toward him, and you bow, and you wait. If he bows back, you're allowed to touch him. If he doesn't bow, then get away from him sharpish because those talons hurt," informed Hagrid. "Right, who wants to go first?"
Oh boy.

Merry Christmas!
For those of you on fanfiction I'm sure you've been facing the many unwanted ads when you're reading a story. Well, yesterday, I finally had enough, and I got an adblocker app. It worked! No more ads on any level! The one I got is Adblock Pro: Safari Ad Blocker. It really works. Just follow the instruction video that it attached to it.
Heads up everyone there's someone on fanfiction you need to seriously watch out for. Early a couple of months ago after I woke up I was checking my email and I saw I had a new guest review on my A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 sequel. I took a look at it and got a very big shock. Some random person I've never spoken to before on here or anywhere else in my life was basically threatening me. Intimidating and practically ordering me to write a threatening letter to someone on their behalf, telling to stay off of for life or else they and everyone else close to them would be killed, disgustingly telling them to kill themselves. And at the bottom of the message this crazy person wasn't done. Warning me that if I don't send the letter then they would kill me and for confirmation to email them to make absolutely sure I complied with their demands. Of course I did nothing of the sort. Instead of doing what they wanted I reported them to the website, sent copies of this deplorable guest review message to police officer cousins of mine so they could have it on file, and I went to a nearby police station and reported it.
When I spoke to the police officers and they checked everything on the message they saw, that while the address and names of business were accurate the people and their names were not. They agree it was more than likely a scam because of the email address on the bottom in order to perhaps get access to personal information or potentially hack my computer. Despite that I'm still very happy they took it seriously as I showed and told them everything. All the same I'm still very happy that I brought this to the attention of law enforcement. Even though the entire thing might be fake I'm still very happy to have brought this to the attention of those who can do something about it if it was legit in some way. This may have been a scam, but it's obvious these people are beyond irresponsible if they try to goad people into sending death threats to random strangers just to get access to info.
Be that as it may if this does unfortunately happen to you do not send any messages to the email addresses they put down and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you bring the message to the authorities immediately whether it is legit or not.
Because it's a guest review it might not be visible for a couple of days as it loads if it is sent to you. But when it does you should definitely pressing the report abuse button and send it to the email that leads to the support staff that is available.
Just a heads up to those of you who aren't aware of this yet, Email alerts for this website are now only active if Email opts is enabled in account settings.
I hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D
For those of you just starting out with my stuff there are other works on my profile that may catch your interest. I highly recommend you take a look as soon as the opportunity presents itself to you. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you discover.
Stay safe everyone. Especially with all of these crazy natural disasters occurring a lot lately due to global warming and climate change everywhere for sure. I swear it's like they're getting worse and worse all the time and it's like officials are simply just ignoring it or pretending it doesn't exist entirely just to go on with their daily lives. Especially those in multi-million dollar companies that rely on certain elements of our planet that we rely on to naturally keep us safe instead of adapting and finding new safer ways to keep in business. There are so many options out there where they can adapt, but they just refuse to see it because all they care about is money. Climate change is altering so much faster than anyone can really keep track of.
So, in light of all this, it is important to live life to the fullest as much as anyone can.
I know I am. ;) See you guys next time.
