James Potter was surprised when he and his wife had seen the letter from the goblins at Gringotts; while the careless Marauder who'd spent 7 amazing years at Hogwarts before becoming an Auror and became the father of the Boy Who Lived, would likely have thrown it away, he was a pureblood with a pureblood's training. And he had been stunned when he found there was some kind of hearing going on. After he had shown it to Lily, James had wondered if some relative he hadn't known who had survived the war only to die, had left the main branch what they had and the hearing was a formality.

James had gone through it before, and he hated it. But there was something not quite right about this.

"Are you sure it's a wise move to come out in the open like this?" Lily waved her wand and a privacy ward sprang up around them.

James nodded. "The letter said we have to all come, Lily," he said, glancing at her. All three members of the Potter family were glamoured to disguise themselves.

Lily was disguised as a woman with short, dirty blonde hair and blue eyes while James and Charlus Potter were both sporting brown hair; all in all the three Potters didn't have any distinguishing features which revealed their true selves.

While he had loved the attention as a kid, as an adult who had been forced to give up two of his children, one who was a squib and the other for her protection, James Potter refused to take risks. He was just pleased Lily agreed.

"It just seems…odd; we've gone to will readings in the past, but this somehow doesn't feel like it," Lily said. "If it was a will reading then we'd have known. The goblins wouldn't have been cryptic."

"No, they wouldn't," James nodded in agreement with his wife's words. "We're nearly there."

"Do you think we could have a look around, Mum, Dad?" Charlus asked. It was very rare his parents took him out; they would allow Neville and Ron to come around, but he was not allowed to leave Potter Manor.

Sometimes he felt more like a prisoner than a kid, and he hated it.

James glanced at Lily. "You know we can't, kiddo."

"It's not fair," Charlus huffed.

"Sometimes life is not fair, Char," James whispered, careful not to say his son's full name out in public where anyone could see or hear it.

Charlus huffed again, and Lily placed her hand comfortingly on his shoulder before she turned to her husband. "Maybe a quick look around, James?" She suggested. She had never really liked the necessity of keeping Charlus locked up for his protection and while Harry and Holly were reasonably safe with Petunia, she missed them in her way.

"But,-," James went to protest, but Lily gave him a look.

"We will work something out," Lily fully planned on putting a spell to keep track of her son and an emergency portkey which would go off if the worst came to the worst. But she wanted her son to have some fun for a change.

James sighed and nodded. "Okay. Come on, we'd better get to the bank.'

Lily took a deep breath, and together she and James took their son into the bank.

James was stunned the moment he walked into Gringotts. Of all the things he had been expecting, he had not expected to see these people.

"Isaac? Jasper? Miranda?" He whispered in shock while Lily and Charlus looked between them in shock.

Isaac Potter inclined his head in greeting. "Hello James, it's been a while."

"Yeah, it has," James hadn't seen his American cousins for a very long time; the last time he'd seen them was when he was twelve. Sadly, because of the war he hadn't been able to invite them to the wedding.

"James, who are these people?" Lily, not wanting to be rude although she hadn't known how to voice her question, asked.

Lily could tell these people were Potters; both men had the typical Potter hair, messy and unkempt. They were older than James and herself by a few decades, but of course, it was virtually impossible to tell the precise age of a wizard or a witch.

Miranda gave James a look. "Aren't you going to introduce us, James? After all, we're family and one of our relatives happens to be the Boy Who Lived."

James shook his head. "Er, yeah. Isaac, Jasper, Miranda, this is my wife Lily, and our son, Charlus," he said, "Charlus, Lily, this is Miranda, Issac and Jasper Potter."

"Potter?" Charlus gasped. "You mean there are other Potters? Other kids! That's awesome!"

"Oh, my god, I've heard of you," Lily had a different reaction. She had of course known about the Potters living in the MACUSA, but because of the war, they hadn't met which was a pity. "I am so sorry we couldn't invite you to the wedding. We needed to keep it small because of the Death Eaters, and the war."

Isaac held up his hand. "It's alright, Charlus and Fleamont shared their memories before their….passings," he said, while Miranda looked down.

"Why are you here?" Charlus asked to break the silence. "Are you here to invite us to America? Do you have kids? I'd love to have other kids to play with."

Miranda speared the wilting and wincing Lily and James with a look. The American Potters had known of course James and Lily wrapped their son in cotton wool for his own protection against the surviving Death Eaters, something that could have been avoided had the British wiped them out for good, but it made this situation worse than ever.

"No, I'm afraid not. We're here for a more…unpleasant reason, and it's all down to you," Miranda turned to Isaac and the Potter family manager. "Senior Account manager, where are they?"

Bloodbringer clicked his fingers with a neutral expression on his face. The doors opened and two children, one of whom resembled Charlus stepped into the office.

"What?" Charlus whispered.

Lily squeaked in disbelief when she saw her two children.

Holly's eyes widened when she saw her parents for the first time, and for a moment she wanted nothing more than to rush over to them and hug them, but the looks on their faces, the way James was suddenly glaring at them and Lily was looking at them both with denial like she knew they were there, but she couldn't accept, and then she turned and buried her face in Harry's shoulder.

With a look of icy contempt, Harry stared at his parents.

James swung around to face Bloodbringer. "What's this? These two are supposed to be in the muggle world; one of them is a squib-."

"Oh contraire, Father," Harry interrupted, lifting his hand and a very large ball of light appeared in the palm. "I am a wizard. Holly and I have taken control of our lives. That means getting the Dursleys out of it forever."

"And getting away from you two," Holly turned and glared at her parents.

Lily was shaking her head. This was not what she'd been expecting. She had always expected Harry to be happy in the muggle world, it was the least she and James could do, and she had always hoped Holly would be protected. For them, and for Charlus; oh, she and James had planned on making it up with them both, but this was not what they'd expected.

"But, how is this possible?" Lily whispered. "You were tested-."

"The tests were wrong, or one of the Healers was stupid and mixed up the results," Harry tilted his head, his lip curling and his eyes starting to glow malevolently with growing anger. The look was terrifying. It frightened Lily, not to mention James. "You two are more gullible than you look."

"And what about me?" Holly sniffled as she looked at her parents. "Why did you abandon me?"

Lily was shaking. "We-we did it to protect you."

"And that's supposed to justify it, is it? You left us both on a doorstep; you didn't bother to knock on the door. You just dropped us like we were bottles of milk. You left letters with us. Do you know how it feels when you find out the parents of the Dursleys have spent the last 4-5 years of your life being told they were drunks, whores and layabouts who are alive and well and just can't be bothered to care for you?" Harry glared at them both. "I got Aunt Petunia to bring us to Diagon Alley, and we learnt about our family in the MACUSA."

"We're here to adopt them," Isaac nodded.

Jasper stepped in, giving Lily and James a strong, stern look that stopped even the slightest thought of an argument. "We've already filed the paperwork. I just need to settle it legally in Gringotts, as the British ministry is utterly useless. However, there are memories I would like us all to see."

Charlus, on the other hand, had been still and paralysed for a while in shock. "Wait a minute!" He waved a hand, and he turned to his parents. "Who are they?" He demanded.

Harry turned to Lily and James. "You mean he doesn't know?" He sneered. "He doesn't know who we are? He doesn't know he could be with us, looking at you like the scum you are? He doesn't know I'm his twin brother, the same twin you abandoned because you thought I was a squib? You mean he doesn't know you abandoned Holly, his own sister, a few years later and dropped her on a doorstep in the middle of the night without a word when anything could have happened to her?" He screamed the last part after his voice rose with each word.

"What?" Charlus turned to his parents again. "You…you told me Harry was dead!"

"Oh, this is getting better and better," Harry sneered. "How many other lies did you drop on him?"

Lily and James couldn't say anything for a moment.

Miranda, having had enough of this, stepped forward. "I think we should the memories, don't you?" She asked rhetorically before sending Harry and Holly a warm smile, it was marred by being tentative. "I…I know what's happened to you both, and I am so sorry we weren't there to stop it, but….," she looked awkward, "I….I would like to try, to…," she bit her lip, unsure of how to say this without sounding like a fool.

Harry looked at her cautiously while Holly looked at her curiously. "If you can put up with us; we've had to do some questionable things, just to live."

"What do you mean?" Lily jumped in. "Didn't Petunia look after you?"

Harry let out a laugh that hurt the years, followed by Holly, both siblings looked scornfully at them. "If you think your bitter shrewish bitch of a sister cares for us, you're wrong," Harry said.

"Yep, she hated us," Holly added.

"No," Lily shook her head.

"God, how deluded are you?" Harry spat.

"Don't you know your own sister?" Holly said. "She stood back and let Harry be abused; when I got there, Harry made sure to use his magic to keep them in check, but they sometimes hit me. They lied about you, too."

Lily looked between both of her children, unsure of what was happening or what was going on. Bloodbringer, deciding enough was enough, decided to show the memories. A few minutes later, Lily was throwing up, crying her eyes out, unable to exorcise the images of Harry, and occasionally Holly, being beaten, although, in Holly's case, Harry would use his magic to lash out, resulting in the Dursleys being too helpless to stop it. Charlus was paralysed while Isaac and Jasper both looked like they wanted to take out their wands, and go after the Dursleys and damn the consequences. Well, neither Harry nor Holly would have done anything to stop them if they took that step. Granted they would have been shocked by the state of the Dursleys now, but they weren't going to stop them if they went that far.

"I think we've seen enough, thank you, Senior Account Manager," Jasper Potter uttered grimly, gazing sympathetically at Harry and Holly, while he didn't look at Charlus or Lily. "In the MACUSA, No-Maj children blessed with magic are taken from their homes. It's a well-documented fact the No-Majs, or muggles, as the British call them, do not like anything different and they lash out. We knew this long ago, and it's one of the reasons why the MACUSA have managed to survive even with the Rappaport Laws."

"What are those?" Charlus interrupted.

"They're a set of laws put in place after an American witch, Dorcas Twelvetrees, accidentally revealed magic to someone descended from a group of thugs who kidnapped witches and wizards, and framed others for profit. He took her wand, made pictures of it, and caused so much damage even revealing the rough locations of the MACUSA's Headquarters and Ilvermorny School. In the end, the No-Maj went too far, and he was arrested but the damage was done; the MACUSA president came up with a set of laws to completely ban marriage between No-Maj and wizards and witches. The law also meant that Newbloods would be taken from their families and given to magical families," Harry explained.

"You know our history?" Miranda looked impressed, and so did Isaac and Jasper.

Harry gestured to Holly. "When we got to Diagon Alley, we both made sure to switch over to the MACUSA and to Ilvermorny. We collected a few books, and picked up on the history of the MACUSA."

"Very good," Jasper smiled.

"Wait a minute," James suddenly found his voice as he tried to regain control, but it was a pale imitation of his usual confident self. "You're our children. You can't do this-."

"You lost the right to call them yours when you allowed your No-Maj family to abuse them! You signed away guardianship of them years ago when you abandoned them, and yes, you did abandon them. It's too late now. The paperwork has been filed and it will be finished here," Jasper snapped, "this was merely a formality. You three are here to act as witnesses," he glared at Charlus, Lily and James.

"What?" Lily whispered.

"You heard, you three are witnesses. Nothing more," Jasper said coldly.

"Witnesses?" James shook his head. "No, they're our children-."

"Since when James?" Jasper interrupted coldly. "By what we've just seen, you abandoned Harry and Holly, for their protection, but from the look of things you neither bothered nor seemed to care about your children's health while you left them with that filth, and No-Maj's are filthy, regardless what that old fool you revere is reputed to think. If you wanted to protect your children, then you should have kept them in your Manor, but that would have been too easy. You have already been ruled out as guardians for Harry and Holly, and for your sake, I hope you think twice about placing any future child with those animals again." Jasper handed James a letter forcibly. "This letter is a formal notification, saying we have terminated whatever magical guardianship you had over Harry and Holly, and a notice for you to stay away from them, unless they wish to speak to you, or visit."

Harry snorted. The only time he'd visit his bastard parents was when their funeral came, and not an instant sooner.

James wilted, but then he recovered his fire. "We'll fight you."

"Why? So you could throw them back into the No-Maj world? You took away Harry's heritage from him when you assumed he was a squib, and I have worries you'd have still thrown him away. This is legal, and we took it to the international courts, and we also did it here, in Britain. If you force the issue, you'll have to deal with dozens of international courts, and we'll fight dirty. Albus Dumbledore might be the most powerful wizard politically in this country, and he has some power in some countries, but even with him, you will lose," Jasper said before he turned to Holly and Harry. "Come on, you two, it's time to take you to your new home."

Harry wondered if he said that to twist the knife, but he said nothing. These idiots deserved it. "Wait a sec, please. I want to say something to them."

"Okay," Miranda frowned, wondering what Harry was going to say.

Harry walked slowly towards his parents, his former parents. Lily was looking at him with a broken-hearted expression, while James stared at him with a hollow look of loss and regret.

"I raised Holly all by myself," he began. "I don't care if you think I'm exaggerating, but after you saw those memories, I'd say it was the truth. Petunia loved every minute of that letter, by the way, she felt it justified everything she said about you. You're scum. You abandoned us both because apparently, I was not a wizard when any normal parent would have double-checked, but you two proved your lack of intelligence when you just took the results as gospel truth. That was bad enough, but when you abandoned Holly, you proved you don't deserve to have kids. But go on, focus on your precious Boy Who Lived; maybe now he'll realise that you don't love him and that you'd abandon him easily if you thought it was in your best interests."

Holly stepped forwards, ready to have her say, which made both of her wilting parents wince. They had been collapsing under the hurt of Harry's speech.

They were dreading listening to whatever Holly said.

"Why?" She asked her broken father and distraught mother while Miranda, Jasper, and Isaac looked on, listening with heavy hearts themselves. "Why did you have kids if you didn't want them? You just dropped Harry and me with the Dursleys, and you never cared about us? Why? Why would you do that? Why would you then turn around, only when Harry and I showed up, and Harry showed you his magic? I've seen him use it my whole life. Why would you want us back now, when you have never wanted us? Would you have done it again if you got us back, and throw us away like our toys like the ones Dudley discarded because they broke or he got tired of them? Are you going to do the same to Charlie, too?" Holly's eyes watered as she choked, trying not to sob.

Lily, reacting instinctively, rushed to her, arms outstretched to hug her, but Holly squeaked and yelped before Harry dragged her away.

"What the hell are you doing? You're not her mother," Harry felt pleasure at seeing Lily's face collapse, tears trickling down her face.

Charlus was paralysed with shock at what was happening, so he didn't know what to think, never mind say.

"Harry's the best big brother in the whole world," Holly added before Harry led her away, his arm around her. Holly purposefully had her head and face buried in the crook of his armpit so she wouldn't see the faces of her parents as they walked out of the lives of Lily and James Potter.

For good, they hoped.

It was time to start a new life.
