Harry let out a breath as he stood in front of the mirror, wearing his new school uniform for the Wendigo Academy for Magic. He'd been in the uniform before when he and Holly were taken to the tailors to get their clothes sorted out. The robes were relatively simple, it consisted of a jumper and trousers topped by a robe; in many ways, it wasn't dissimilar to the style of robes worn by Ilvermorny students.
The Wendigo Academy for Magic had been one of Isolt Sayre's greatest contributions to the MACUSA; while she had always admired Hogwarts and the students it produced, she had come to see over the years she'd worked at Ilvemorny, expanding it as she went and used her experiences to shape it into the school it was today, she had found there were dozens of things many of the Native American students lacked knowledge of, and she and her family had used their growing influence to create a primary school, and later on a series of them.
At first, the schools were designed for Native American Indian students and then later for emigrants from other countries when it became clear having students grounded in magical knowledge would prepare them for the next level.
Harry was unsure what he and Holly would be learning at the school today, but until they went to Ilvermorny, they would learn the basics of magic from the Academy. He was looking forward to it mostly because it would help him learn more, and Holly was always eager to learn about magic.
There was a subtle tap on the door, and Miranda poked her head in. She smiled when she saw him.
"Are you ready?" She asked.
Harry nodded with a smile. "Yes, I'm ready alright," he pointed at the school bag. It was empty beyond the writing tools. All of the books would be given to them when they arrived for their classes.
Miranda walked inside and hugged him gently. Harry stiffened a little; while he was okay hugging Holly, he was still getting used to being hugged by adults.
"You two will be okay, you're both resilient. Just don't use those curses," she warned.
Miranda and Isaac had found the Dark Arts books Harry and Holly had bought from Diagon Alley. Both of them had been stunned and horrified by what they'd found, but after they'd spoken to the two siblings, they'd stopped arguing and talked. Harry was forced to admit he and Holly had used one of the unforgivable curses on two of the Dursleys, horrifying both of the elder Potters and later Jasper, as they decided to let him know, too.
In the end, after reviewing several of the memories of how Vernon Dursleys saw him and Holly as property thanks to Lily and James, the three elder members of the American branch decided to let it be. They were just as angry as Harry had been when Vernon had said that, to say nothing of how Miranda reacted when she heard Marge tell her sibling to put Holly up for child prostitution and her contempt for No Maj's spiked even more, and she knew if any magical supremacist in America saw that, then they would have a field day.
But there was nothing Miranda, Jasper and Isaac could do beyond making sure Harry and Holly were showered with love. They were nothing like Dumbledore or his followers, who believed once you cast a dark spell, that was it.
They understood why the two children had bought them, to protect themselves.
The three adults had spoken about it for a long time, and they had decided to confiscate the books and put them in the family library. They had decided to teach the two children in moderation, rather than let them keep the books and do something terrible.
Harry had seen what the trio were doing, but he decided that it was for the best as did Holly; while they had both used some of the magic against the Dursleys and they'd become slightly changed with slightly skewered morals, they were far from twisted and it had not been too late for either of them.
However, since both of the kids had shown skill with wandless magic and they still remembered many of the curses, Miranda and the others were not worried too much, but they didn't want them to use the spells.
"We won't," Harry looked and sounded insulted they would do that.
Miranda smiled, believing him. In the short time she'd known him, Harry had quickly wormed his way into her heart while Holly had gotten there instantaneously being so bright, chirpy and polite.
A blur shot into the room and slammed into Harry, who caught his little sister before she could smack into his chest. "Harry, how do I look?" Holly stepped back and spun around.
Harry chuckled, seeing the amusement in Miranda's eyes at Holly's excitement. "You look amazing, Holly," he said. There wasn't too much difference between their uniform styles. The Wendigo uniform for girls was similar, except it had a blouse and a skirt.
"So do you, big brother," Holly smiled.
"Have you two had breakfast yet?" Miranda asked.
"Er, no," Harry replied.
"I haven't yet, Aunt Miranda," Holly replied sheepishly.
Miranda sighed and checked her pocket watch. "Don't worry, you two have time," she said. "Now, come along, we have to get you sent off to school later on," she added and ushered them both out of the room and downstairs to the kitchen. The Potters had a long-standing tradition of eating in a more casual setting, although they would eat more formally whenever they had to, although they ate casually with their friends.
After a quick meal, Miranda and Isaac took their new children to Wendigo Academy. The school was in a remote corner of Alaska, surrounded by a protective web of wards stopping non-magical interference. The school was a small castle, with towers designed in the same styles as Native American Indian tents, or tepees. Harry had seen pictures and illustrations of them in the Little Whinging library during his years there, and he had seen those pictures, but what he was seeing now were tall stone cones, completely smooth.
Kids were playing in a playground, supervised by two teachers. Harry felt Holly grip his hand tightly, both of them remembering St Gregory's.
One of the teachers noticed the Potters walking towards them.
"Hello, Mr and Mrs Potter," she said, recognising them from years ago. "Are these two Harry and Holly?" She added for confirmation, knowing that they were.
"They are, Miss Webb," Miranda replied.
Miss Webb smiled down at Harry and Holly, seeing at once the girl was a little shy, but her brother had his arm wrapped protectively around her shoulders. "Hello, you two, please don't be scared although it's perfectly normal with a brand new school. Why don't you both go and make some friends?" She suggested.
Harry and Holly turned to Miranda and Isaac, both of them nodded and ran off.
"Just give them a bit of time," Isaac advised. "They've both had a rough time and they haven't been in the magical world long."
"Don't worry, we'll be okay with them," Miss Webb and several of her colleagues and friends had been told by the Potters about the disgusting past Harry and Holly had both endured. "How are they doing besides that?"
"They're both bright kids and they're doing well," Isaac replied.
"Just call us if something happens. Harry's very protective of Holly, as she is of him, and if someone picks on her, don't be surprised if Harry is overprotective," Miranda added.
Miss Webb didn't like the sound of them. While bullying was a fact of life, one she didn't like, she and her friends did their best to come down hard on it since they did work with potions, and the last thing you should do is mess with potions.
"Don't worry, we'll be okay," Miss Webb said.

For the next few years, Harry and Holly both came out of their shells even more, becoming butterflies. The process which had begun when Harry and Holly forced Petunia Dursley to take them to Diagon Alley, meeting with the American Potters and moving to the MACUSA after confronting their idiotic parents over their mistakes and then finding others of their kind, was largely completed.
Three months after arriving in America, Harry and Holly were doing their homework for Wendigo when Aunt Miranda walked in.
"Harry, Melissa's on the mirror," she said with a smile.
Harry blushed bright red and ignored Miranda's smile and Holly's giggles as he got up and ran out of the room. Harry had hit it off with a small number of kids, Jack Kowalski, Pandora Scamander and Melissa Picquerry, and it wasn't long before Isaac, Miranda and Holly began teasing him for having a girlfriend, something that embarrassed Harry greatly.
Melissa's face brightened when Harry ran in. "Hi, Mels," he greeted her.
"Hi, Harry, me and the others were thinking of going to the cinema. Would you like to come?" Melissa asked. "You can come with Holly. I'm taking my own brother and Pandora's coming with her sister."
It had stunned Harry and Holly that the MACUSA even had cinemas and pop concerts, and the like considering they were No Maj in origin, but in truth, while the MACUSA did have their issues with No Maj's, that didn't mean some of their ideas weren't welcomed.
The idea for cinemas came when a muggle-born visiting from Britain had come up with a neat solution involving a giant enchanted mirror, and they had assembled a small play to get started, and it went on from there. Most of what was seen in the movies were just adventures of magicals, which spiked imagination and now there were movies and mirror shows similar to TV programs, showing magical soap operas and dramas.
With pop concerts, popular bands played. Already Harry had visited one with his friends, and he'd had an amazing time. Holly hadn't come since she was still too young, but he'd promised to take her the next time.
"I don't see why not," after all he had largely finished his homework. "I'll need to clear it."
"Okay, get back to me," Melissa replied.
After finishing the call for the moment, Harry went off to his aunt to let her know about the invitation.
