Chapter 1: Musings over a Cup of Caf
She knew fighting. All her life had been about fighting. Yet, fighting against someone who combined the use of the Force with physical skills was something different. Even for this she had been trained. But having faced it in single combat for the first time still shocked her and she had a striking scar to remind her. Fortunately, it had been Ashoka who had fought the Imperial remnant foes on Corellia. Oddly, it was Kanan's voice training with her which she had in her mind now: Learn how to listen to people, to your surroundings and to the Force. Lately, all she had listened to were instructions, complains and Ezra's recorded holo voice. She thought of her Loth cat back home and hoped that the guy she paid for maintaining the old communication tower did not forget to feed it because he may be scared.
Sabine realized that her mind and thoughts drifted away again and tried to concentrate. She focused on the cup standing before her. Move!, she thought by trying to drag the feeling of her surroundings to that one point where the cup was standing. Just move! Just a bit!
It was hopeless. She felt nothing out of the ordinary and nothing happened out of the ordinary.

Sitting in the cockpit, Ahsoka realized she had left her cup of caf with Sabine. Exhaling, she seated herself and closed her eyes. Anakin's determined voice echoed in Ahsoka's head: Again, from her repeated fighting with the Clones in the circle training. The memory struck her. How many times had she passed out? She could not remember. On the one hand, she had not given up back then. On the other hand, she remembered well the one time she definitely had. I left the order. I told my former master that I was no Jedi. She opened her eyes. But here I am, training Sabine, who is as unconventional a padawan as I might have been. She smiled for no one to see. During their reign, I avoided Imperials and hid. Now that Mon Mothma and the others are in place, I've started to trace and hunt them. All for finding Thrawn – and Ezra.
