Chapter 2: Different Ways – part 1

Huyang entered the cockpit and the door closed behind him automatically. "If you insisted on a Midi-chlorian count, it would be proof that …", the droid sounded tinny.

Ahsoka slowly shook her head and opened her eyes. "There is no need for this anymore", she stated sadly without looking at the droid. "It wouldn't change a thing."

"There are neither detectable improvements in her abilities nor in her behavior. She's drawing from resources of her former training."

Ahsoka exhaled before saying: "Patience, Huyang."

"She's too old for the luxury of patience. Under different circumstances, the two of you would have been separated for your discrepancy."

"Thank you. Until recently, our following separate ways was just the case, you know." A bit annoyed, Ahsoka turned to look at the old teacher for the first time since it entered.

"I just wanted to point out that this is not ..."

"… the Jedi way." Ahsoka interrupted and finished the sentence. "The ways of old have brought us to near extinction, Huyang" she concluded. "What was your primary reason of meeting me in the cockpit?"

"Ah ...", Huyang paused, then continued, "We are approaching the coordinates of target on short notice and are to prepare for leaving hyperspace."

"Well, that is good news. Let's finish preparation and then get started." She stood up. "I'll inform Sabine."
