Preface

In New York City, December 1982, three professors specializing in the paranormal at Columbia University faced a setback when their grants were revoked by the skeptical board of trustees. Simultaneously, they stumbled upon an apparition of an old librarian ghost haunting the basement of the New York City Public Library on Fifth Avenue. This encounter was a revelation for all three professors, prompting Dr. Peter Venkman to propose a bold idea: starting a supernatural elimination service in Manhattan, dubbed the Ghostbusters.

Each of the scientists brought unique skills to the table: Dr. Egon Spengler, a theoretical physicist, crafted the necessary gadgets; Dr. Raymond Stantz, an engineer, provided technical assistance; and Dr. Peter Venkman, a charming yet cynical psychologist, handled client interactions with a skeptical eye. Despite recognizing the considerable risks involved, they forged ahead with their venture, becoming pioneers in the field of paranormal elimination in the city.

The only missing piece now was finding the right secretary to manage incoming calls, schedule appointments, and handle basic accounting tasks. Who would dare to take on the challenge of working alongside three highly eccentric scientists in a fledgling industry?
