Episode 3: Pokémon I Choose You

Over the course of the week, Professor Oak continued to teach Mary Melody about Pokémon. In return, Mary showed Ash some of the original Looney Tunes cartoons that her teachers starred in. Ash and Delia found most of them hilarious. Although, Delia didn't approve of how Pepé Le Pew acted in the cartoons he was in. Mary did tell them that Fifi's mother was trying to correct her daughter's behavior. Some of the toons who haven't found shelter continued to try to find each other and evade any suspicious activity.

It was now the night before Ash and Mary leave on their Pokémon journey. Ash was wearing a blue and white jacket with gold trim worn open over a black t-shirt with jeans, a brown belt with a silver buckle, black, white & red sneakers, green, fingerless gloves and a red & white hat with a green "L" on it. The two were watching some TV. Currently, they were watching the news to see if there were any sightings of any of Mary's friends. A female reporter was on the TV, live right now. She had blue hair and eyes. She wore a pink sleeveless shirt, light tan pants and orange pants. "Reporting live from PXTV. Over the course of the week, there been some sightings of a mysterious creature that has been causing disturbances. Just now, a witness has been able to capture footage of the creature," said the Reporter.

"I wonder if it's one of my friends," said Mary.

"Maybe," said Ash. The footage of the sighting played. Mary instantly recognized it as Dizzy Devil. In the footage, he was eating up somebody's mailbox.

"It's Dizzy Devil!" cried Mary.

"The glut?" asked Ash.

"The creature you see in the footage seems to have a ravenous appetite that rivals that of a Gulpin. It eats anything it can get its teeth on. It even tries to eat people and Pokémon. Whenever if moves, it turns into a purple tornado," said the Reporter. Mary shook her head.

"Oh, Dizzy," said Mary.

"Also noted by other witnesses, it seems to have subnormal intelligence as demonstrated in the footage you're about to see," said the Reporter. Footage of Dizzy trying to eat another Voltorb played. Like last time, when it stuffed the Voltorb in its mouth, it used Explosion to make Dizzy throw it up.

"Looks like he can survive eating explosives like his mentor," said Ash.

"If you spot this creature in your area, viewers are advised to not approach the creature. For it is extremely dangerous," said the Reporter.

"When we leave for our journey, let's hope we find him before Pokémon Control does," said Ash.

"Yes, let's hope so too," said Mary.

(Insert "Pokémon, I Choose you" from Pokémon)

Ash changed the channel and now it was showing a Pokémon battle at Indigo Plateau stadium. It was between a Gengar and a Nidorino. Nidorino was a Poison-type Pokémon and the evolved form of a male Nidoran. It was larger than his pre-evolution. His forehead horn was larger, as well as his ears and the spines on his back. He had grown large fang teeth, and had three clawed toes instead of two, as was the case for its pre-evolution. He remained quadruped though. Gengar was a Ghost & Poison type Pokémon and was dark purple in color and roundish in shape. Unlike it's pre-evolved form, Haunter, Gengar's hands now connected to the rest of its body and it had a pair of legs and a short, pointed tail. Gengar's eyes were now red, its back had a spiny appearance, and its mouth was usually curled into a sinister grin. The crowd was going wild as Nidorino tried to attack Gengar with its deadly horn. "And Nidorino begins the battle with a Horn Attack," said the Announcer. Gengar jumped onto Nidorino's head and jumped away from the Poison Pokémon. Even if Horn Attack did hit Gengar, it wouldn't do damage since Normal-types can't hurt Ghost-types. "Oh, but Gengar bounces right back . . . and there it is the Hypnosis power of Gengar," said the Announcer. Gengar clapped its hands and unleashed hypnotic energy at Nidorino. Nidorino began to feel drowsy until it fell asleep. "This could be the end of Nidorino. Wait, the trainer recalls Nidorino," said the Announcer. As he said so, Nidorino's trainer recalled the Pokémon into its Pokéball. Normal Pokéballs were red and white. The Trainer was a member of the Kanto Elite Four named Bruno. "Which Pokémon will Bruno use now?" asked the Announcer. Bruno threw a green & white Pokéball and his next chosen Pokémon came out. It was a Rock & Ground Pokémon that resembled a giant chain of gray boulders with a rocky spine on its head. This Pokémon had a magnet in its brain that served as an internal compass. The Pokémon's body becomes more rounded and smoother as it grows with age. "Oh, its Bruno's signature Pokémon; Onix!" said the Announcer. The rock snake let out a mighty roar. "Now this giant Pokémon is on the attack," said the Announcer. Onix tried to bite Gengar, but it jumped out of the way. "Oh, but Gengar jumps aside. Gengar is moving beautifully today, its training is top notch . . . ," said the Announcer.

"Yes! I am Ash. And now that I'm ten I can finally get my Pokémon license," said Ash.

"And I'm Mary Melody. Now that I've studied hard about Pokémon, I'm ready to journey out and find my friends," said Mary.

"We will journey to gain the wisdom of Pokémon training . . . ," said Ash.

" . . . and we hereby declare to the Pokémon of the world . . . ," said Mary. Ash held up what appeared to be a toy Poké Ball.

"We will be Pokémon masters . . . Pokémon Masters that is what we'll . . . ," said Ash and Mary.

(End Music)

"Ash, Mary, get to bed!" said a voice. Ash was startled, causing him to drop the Voltorb toy. The voice belonged to Delia. She caught the Voltorb toy in her hand. Delia was a woman with brown hair & eyes. Her hair was in a ponytail. She wore a pink jacket, a yellow shirt, a blue skirt and cream-colored shoes. It was actually a clock, with a Pidgey that would pop out of it. "It's 11:00, and you two should be asleep," said Delia.

"But tomorrow I begin my Pokémon journey. I can't sleep," said Ash.

"I haven't really had a good night sleep, knowing my friends are out there, possibly in danger. But it's good thing we stayed up," said Mary.

"Why's that?" asked Delia.

"We saw a news report about a sighting of one of my friends, Dizzy Devil," said Mary.

"That's good," said Delia.

"But he's causing destruction with his gluttony everywhere he went," said Mary.

"That's bad," said Delia.

"We have to find him before the authorities do," said Mary.

"Well, if you two can't sleep, you should at least get ready for tomorrow. Here watch this," said Delia. She switched the TV to a different channel via remote.

(Insert "Professor Oak's Lecture" from Pokémon)

Appearing on the monitor was Professor Oak. "Good evening Pallet. Tomorrow is the big day for the newest class of Pokémon students. I'd like to introduce you to Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. Each one is available for new trainers, which one shall you choose?" asked Prof. Oak.

"Go to bed when this is done," said Delia.

"Alright, I'm going," said Ash.

"And change into your pajamas okay?" asked Delia.

"I'm going!" said Ash.

(End Music)

After watching Professor Oak's lecture, both Ash and Mary went to bed. Ash wore green and yellow pajamas. In his bedroom, Ash was talking in his sleep. "Raising Bulbasaur. That'd be really simple. It's perfect for beginners," said Ash.

(Insert "I Choose Who" from Pokémon)

Ash was dreaming of picking Bulbasaur. "I choose you, Bulbasaur!" said Ash. He threw the ball and Bulbasaur popped out of the Poké Ball.

(End Music)

Unfortunately, Ash's Voltorb clock fell off the shelve and into his hand. "Then there's Squirtle," said Ash.

(Insert "I Choose Who" from Pokémon)

Next, Ash dreamed of summoning Squirtle. "I choose you, Squirtle!" said Ash. He threw the ball and Squirtle came out of its ball.

(End Music)

But in his sleep, Ash threw the clock and it broke hitting the wall. "Choose it or lose it. Ahh," said Ash. In her guest bedroom, Mary Melody was staring out of the ceiling window, looking at the stars.

"Buster, Fifi, Plucky, Calamity, Furrball, I hope you guys are all safe," said Mary. In Professor Oak's laboratory, all seemed quiet. But then, somebody stealthily broke into the lab.

"I'll take one of these Pokémon before everybody else does. That'll help me become famous," said the Thief. He grabbed one of the Poké Balls and left before he could be caught.

The next morning, a Dodrio cawed like a rooster to signal the start of a new day. "Oh hold on, Charmander. Those in the know say that's the best way to go," said Ash.

(Insert "I Choose Who" from Pokémon)

Then, Ash started dreaming of choosing Charmander. "I choose you, Charmander!" said Ash. But then his dream was interrupted when he heard Mary Melody yell, "Ash, wake up!"

(End Music)

This caused Ash to finally wake up. He saw Mary was already dressed up. He then saw his smashed alarm clock and gasped. "What? Oh, no! What time is it?!" asked Ash. Ash ran for Professor Oak's laboratory, dragging Mary Melody by the hand. "Squirtle, Bulbasaur Charmander, anyone is fine. Just please, save one for me," said Ash.

(Insert "Drumroll" from Pokémon)

Outside the Pokémon Lab, a crowd of people, including cheerleaders were gathered.

"Gary! Gary! He's our man! If he can't do it! No one can! Gary, Gary . . . ," chanted the Cheerleaders. But they were interrupted when Ash and Mary cut through.

"Oh, sorry," said Ash. The cheerleaders gasped.

"Hey!" cried the Cheerleaders. Ash and Mary bumped into a boy around Ash's age, and the three fell down. The boy had brown hair, black eyes and wore a purple shirt, a necklace with a green & yellow yin & yang symbol, black pants and brown boots. He was the one called Gary.

"Hey, watch where you're going! Well, you must be Ash and Mary. Better late than never, I guess. At least you get the chance to meet me!" said Gary.

"Gary?" asked Ash & Mary.

"Mister Gary to you! Show some respect! Well you two, you snooze, you lose, and you're way behind right from the start! I got a Pokémon and you two don't," said Gary.

"Well, we will once we walk up those stairs," said Mary.

"You got your first Pokémon?" asked Ash.

"That's right, losers, and it's right inside this Pokéball," said Gary. He took out his Pokéball and began spinning it. The spectators began to cheer.

"Let's go, Gary, let's go! Yeah yeah!" said the Cheerleaders.

"Thank you, fans! Thank you for this great honor! I promise you that I will become a Pokémon master, and make the Town of Pallet known all around the world!" said Gary. He posed triumphantly as the spectators cheer again.

"Excuse me?" asked Ash.

"Yeah?" asked Gary.

"I was just wondering if you could tell me what kind of Pokémon you got," said Ash.

"None of your business! If you showed up on time, you would've seen that I got the best Pokémon from Professor Oak. It's good to have a grandfather in the Pokémon business, isn't it?" asked Gary.

"Being the grandson of a famous researcher may be a nice honor, but that doesn't justify you flaunting it like some trophy," said Mary.

"That's big words coming from somebody who didn't even know a thing about Pokémon the day she came here," said Gary.

"Well, I'll have you know that ever since I came, I've been studying all about Pokémon to prepare for this journey. And once I get my first Pokémon, I'm going to go find my missing friends," said Mary.

"Well, there's just one problem about you two getting your first Pokémon," said Gary.

"What?" asked Ash & Mary.

"There's only one Pokémon left," said Gary. Everybody else gasped.

"WHAT?!" asked Ash & Mary.

"You mean you didn't hear? One of them was stolen last night. So I guess only one of you is going, and the other has to stay here for a little longer," said Gary.

"Why are you acting like this theft was no big deal?!" asked Mary, sounding angry.

"'Cause I wasn't the victim of theft," said Gary, with smugness in his voice. Gary and his cheerleaders began to leave, by car.

"Let's go Gary, let's go!" chanted the Cheerleaders.

"Thank you for coming out to see history in the making! Now I, Gary Oak, am off to learn the ways of the Pokémon Trainer!" said Gary. Everybody left, leaving only Ash and Mary.

"Auugh, I'll show you!" said Ash.

(End Music)

"So, you finally decided to show up after all," said Prof. Oak.

"Oh, Professor Oak, where's our Pokémon?" asked Ash.

"Your Pokémon?" asked Prof. Oak.

"Yes, I'm ready," said Ash.

"You look like you're ready for bed, not for Pokémon training. I hope you don't think you're gonna train in your pajamas," said Prof. Oak.

"Oh no, professor, I got messed up this morning, and I was a little late, but believe me, I'm ready for a Pokémon," said Ash.

"So am I," said Mary. Professor Oak led Ash and Mary to the inside of his lab. They went up to a circular table with one Poké Ball.

"Gary told us about how one of the Pokémon was stolen last night," said Ash.

"Yes. It was awful, which means only one of you is going to be able to leave today," said Prof. Oak.

"But Gary acted like it was no big deal. It sickens me," said Mary. Professor Oak shook his head.

"Oh Gary. How could he be so cold. I taught him better," said Prof. Oak.

"So, which Pokémon is left?" asked Ash.

"I'll show you," said Prof. Oak. He opened the Poké Ball and a Pokémon came out. It was a Bulbasaur. It was a small, quadrupedal amphibian Pokémon that has blue-green skin with darker patches. It had red eyes with white pupils, pointed, ear-like structures on top of its head, and a short, blunt snout with a wide mouth. A pair of small, pointed teeth were visible in the upper jaw when its mouth was open. Each of its thick legs ended with three sharp claws. On Bulbasaur's back was a green plant bulb that concealed two slender, tentacle-like vines, which was grown from a seed planted there at birth.

"Bulbasaur," said Bulbasaur.

"So that's it? Bulbasaur?" asked Ash.

"Yes. Gary took Squirtle and the thief stole Charmander. And unfortunately, only one of you is going to take Bulbasaur with you. And the other will have to get their first Pokémon later," said Prof. Oak. Ash and Mary thought for a moment, while Bulbasaur watched anxiously.

"Mary," said Ash.

"Yes?" asked Mary.

"You should take Bulbasaur," said Ash.

"Me?" asked Mary.

"Yes," said Ash.

"But what about your journey? You were so excited about your journey and now you're just going to give it up?" asked Mary.

"I will leave, but I will have to wait. You need to set off today so you can find your friends. And possibly rescue them from Elmyra if you have to," said Ash. Mary thought for a moment.

"Okay. Thanks. That was very compassionate and generous of you," said Mary. She walked up to Bulbasaur and picked her up. "Hello Bulbasaur. I'm your Trainer, Mary Melody. I'm sure we're going to be the best of friends," said Mary.

"Bulba," said Bulbasaur. She then began to hug her new Pokémon. Just then, Professor Oak snapped his finger, remembering something.

"Wait a minute! Why didn't I think of it before! You can still leave with Mary, Ash!" said Prof. Oak. Ash gasped.

"Really?! You have a Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle on reserve?!" asked Ash excitedly.

"It's not those three. But it is a Pokémon," said Prof. Oak.

"Professor, I'll take it!" said Ash. A hidden panel opened up on the table, and a Poké Ball came into view. Professor Oak grabbed the Poké Ball.

"I think I should warn you, there is a problem with this last one," said Prof. Oak.

"I have to have a Pokémon," said Ash.

"Well, in that case . . . ," said Prof. Oak, handing Ash the Poké Ball. Then, Ash pressed the center button on the Pokéball and the Pokémon came out.

(Insert "Pikachu Appears" from Pokémon)

The Pokémon that was in the Poké Ball was a Pikachu. The same Pikachu that Fifi La Fume fell in love with earlier. "Pikachu," said Pikachu.

"It's name is Pikachu," said Prof. Oak.

"Oh, it's so cute, it's the best of all!" said Ash.

"You'll see," said Prof. Oak. Ash picked up Pikachu and began to hug him.

"Oh, hi Pikachu," said Ash. Pikachu was annoyed.

"Pika . . . ," said Pikachu. Mary saw Pikachu's cheeks were starting to spark.

(End Music)

"Um, Ash . . . ," said Mary. But it was too late. Pikachu let off a Thunder Shock attack, zapping Ash. Ash screamed as he got zapped.

"It's also known as an Electric Mouse. It's usually shy, but can sometimes have an electrifying personality," said Prof. Oak.

"I see what you mean," groaned Ash.

"Shocking, isn't it?" asked Prof. Oak.

"What's all the racket?" asked a voice. It was Daisy Oak. "Oh, hi Ash. Hi Mary," said Daisy.

"Oh, Daisy. Mary is choosing Bulbasaur, while Ash is going to take Pikachu," said Prof. Oak.

"Oh. You know, I found the little guy outside of the lab roughly a week ago. When I found him, he was covered in kiss marks and stank, real bad," said Daisy.

Kiss marks, stank real bad? Could it be, this Pikachu ran into Fifi? I thought Fifi was only into skunk hunks. This doesn't make sense. She wouldn't swoon over a non skunk hunk without a reason, thought Mary.

"Now take these you two, your Pokédex and Pokéballs," said Ash. The Pokédex was a small, red handheld computer that had data on the various Pokémon species.

"Thank . . . YOUUUUU!" screamed Ash & Mary as Pikachu zapped Ash again. But he also zapped Bulbasaur, Mary, Daisy and Professor Oak.

"YOU'RE WELCOME!" screamed Prof. Oak.

Outside Delia Ketchum, Arcanine, and a small group of people stand outside making noises in celebration of Ash beginning his journey. Ash was holding both Ash and Mary's backpacks. "Mom!" said Ash.

"Oh, Ash. I'm so proud of you," said Delia. Ash put Pikachu down. "You're finally gonna fulfill your dream and start your Pokémon training. But I'm . . . I'm gonna miss you so much. Oh, my little boy," said Delia.

"Pikachu," said Pikachu.

"I packed your sneakers and jeans, nice clean shirts and underwear, and your favorite snacks and some hot chocolate in case you want something hot. But, be careful not to burn yourself. And a pair of rubber gloves to do your laundry, and a new clothesline to hang it out to dry," said Delia.

"Mom, you're embarrassing me in front of all these people! Don't you know I'm a big kid, now? Pokémon Trainers can take care of themselves," said Ash.

"I understand. Oh, and Mary, here is your backpack," said Delia.

"Thanks," said Mary.

"I wish you luck on your quest to find your friends," said Delia.

"Thanks," said Mary. Arcanine went up to Ash and licked him in the face. "I'm gonna miss you too, Arcanine," said Ash. Delia then spotted Pikachu. "Hmm? That's your Pokémon?" asked Delia.

"Pikachu," said Pikachu.

"Yep, that's my Pokémon," said Ash.

(Insert "Today's Pokémon Curiosity" from Pokémon)

"Pi," said Pikachu.

"I got Bulbasaur," said Mary.

"Bulbasaur," said Bulbasaur.

"Uhh . . . With Pikachu at my side, I'll get all the Pokémon in the world," said Ash.

"Let's not get too greedy," said Mary.

"Ash, I thought all Pokémon stayed inside their Pokéballs. Why doesn't these one?" asked Delia.

"Uh . . . Oh, yeah, that's right," said Ash.

"Bulbasaur, time to get in the ball until I need you," said Mary. She tapped Bulbasaur with the ball and she went into the ball.

"Pikachu, get in the ball now," said Ash. He tossed the Poké Ball at Pikachu. But Pikachu just tossed it back to Ash with its tail. Ash continued to try to return it to its Poké Ball, but Pikachu kept tossing it back with his head or tail. It didn't want to get in the ball.

"Oh, you're playing catch; you're friends already," said Delia.

"Uh, sure," said Ash. He picked up Pikachu. "Pikachu and I are real pals, right?" asked Ash.

"But it's a little weird," said Delia.

"Weird?" asked Ash.

(End Music)

Pikachu felt insulted. "Pi . . . ," said Pikachu. Pikachu let out a Thunder Shock that shocked everybody. But Arcanine dodged the attack by jumping. Professor Oak managed to avoid getting zapped this time.

"Those rubber gloves your mom packed will come in handy," said Prof. Oak.

"Why?" asked Ash.

"Rubber blocks electricity," said Prof. Oak.

"Great!" groaned Ash. After all the zapping was done, Delia and the crowd fell down.

"Don't forget to change your underwear . . . every single day," groaned Delia.

"O.K.," said Ash. Pikachu laughed due to what he did. But he stopped laughing when he heard Arcanine's growling. He didn't like how Pikachu zapped Ash and his mother one bit. Pikachu yelped and hid behind Ash's leg.

"Chuuuu," groaned Pikachu.

"Don't hide behind me. You're the one who fried my mother. My mother raised him since he was a Growlithe. And he doesn't appreciate why you did," said Ash. Pikachu slowly walked up to Arcanine.

"Umm . . . I'm sorry?" asked Pikachu. Arcanine then unleashed a Flamethrower attack.

(Insert "Pikachu Appears" from Pokémon)

Very soon, Ash, Mary and Pikachu were out on the open road of Route 1. Pikachu was reluctant to come, so Ash had a rope tied around him and Ash pulled it, pulling Pikachu. Pikachu's face was black as soot from Arcanine's Flamethrower attack. And he smelled like smoke and ash. Mary took a sniff. "Pikachu still smells like smoke?" asked Mary.

"Yep," said Ash.

"Wow. Arcanine sure knows how to hold a grudge," said Mary.

"Yeah. He doesn't like Gary either," said Ash. Ash then stopped walking and turned to Pikachu. "Pikachu, are you going to be like this the whole way?" asked Ash. Pikachu turned away from Ash.

"Pi," said Pikachu.

"Is it because you don't like me?" asked Ash.

"Pika Pika," said Pikachu nodding.

"Well I like you a lot. And because you're the Pokémon I'm supposed to train, don't you think you could be a little nicer and just open your mouth and tell me what's wrong?" asked Ash. Pikachu did so.

"Uh, that's not exactly what I meant. Is your name all you can say?" asked Ash.

"Pika," said Pikachu.

"Well, then Pikachu, you're just like all Pokémon, all you should act like one, and get inside the Pokéball, just like it says in the Pokédex," said Ash. He took out the Pokédex and an image of a Poké Ball was displayed.

"While being trained, a Pokémon usually stays inside its Pokéball," said the Pokédex.

"You see?" asked Ash.

"Pika!" said Pikachu, touching a button and another recording played.

"However, they are many expectations: Some Pokémon hate being confined," said the Pokédex. Ash put his Pokédex away for now.

"OK, then, this ought to make things better," said Ash as he untied Pikachu.

"And I'll get rid of these," said Ash, taking off his gloves. "How's that?" asked Ash.

"Pi," said Pikachu.

"Still not good enough?" asked Ash.

"Pika," said Pikachu. Ash sighed.

"He sure is stubborn," said Mary.

(End Music)

Then, Ash, Mary and Pikachu began to hear some footsteps. "Something's coming," said Mary.

"Huh?" asked Ash.

"Pika?" asked Pikachu. It was a Pidgey.

"A Pidgey," said Ash. Ash took out his Pokédex again to get some data on the Pokémon.

"Pidgey is a Flying Pokémon. Among all the Flying Pokémon, it is the gentlest and easiest to capture. A perfect target for the beginning Pokémon Trainer to test his Pokémon's skills," said the Pokédex.

"This is great. It's our lucky day!" said Ash. He put his Pokédex. "Pikachu, go get it," said Ash.

"Chu," said Pikachu, turning away from Ash again.

"Aren't you ever gonna listen to me?" asked Ash.

"Chu," said Pikachu.

"But why not?" asked Ash. Pikachu then ran up a tree. "OK, I get the message. I don't want your need help or need it. I can get that thing all by myself," said Ash.

(Insert "I Choose You" from Pokémon)

Ash took off his backpack and grabbed one of the empty Poké Balls from his belt. "All right, I've pledged to get all the Pokémon in the world. Now I'm ready to take the next step to be the number one Pokémon Master," said Ash. He then pressed the center button to enlarge it. "Enjoy your last moments of freedom, Pidgey, 'cause you're mine!" said Ash. Ash turned his cap backwards. "Poké Ball, go!" said Ash. He threw the ball and it hit Pidgey. And when it did, it opened up and Pidgey was transformed into energy that the Poké Ball sucked up. "I did it!" said Ash. He then noticed something. "Huh?" asked Ash. The Poké Ball shook a bit. Ash stared at the Poké ball. Suddenly, the Poké Ball opened up, releasing Pidgey. The Poké Ball was sent flying back into Ash's hands.

(End Music)

The Pidgey cooed before moving on. "I blew it," said Ash. Pikachu giggled.

"To capture a Pokémon, you usually have your own Pokémon battle with the other," said Ash's Pokédex.

"Now he tells me," said Ash. Pikachu continued laughing.

"Pikachu, cut that out. Shame on you," scolded Mary. But Pikachu didn't care and resumed laughing.

"But I have to do everything myself!" said Ash.

"Ash," said Mary.

"Yes?" asked Ash.

"If it's all right, I'm going to search for some Pokémon in another part of Route 1. And if I'm lucky, I might be able to find one of my friends too," said Mary.

"Uh, sure," said Ash.

"Thanks," said Mary. And she went to explore another part of the area. Ash was thinking about how he could capture Pidgey when he looked at his backpack.

"Wait. I've got an idea," said Ash.

Mary went to search for any sign of any Pokémon to catch or find any of her lost friends. "Someone's gotta be around here," said Mary. Just then, she heard some rustling in the grass nearby. "Huh?" asked Mary. She then saw a Pokémon emerge from the grass. It was a small mammalian Pokémon covered in brown fur. It had long, dark brown ears with dark pink interiors, beady black eyes, and a small mouth. While it was capable of standing on its hind legs, it typically moves on all fours. It had a round body with wide arms and two small feet. On its belly was a white ring and there were dark brown stripes around its tail. "What's that?" asked Mary. She took out her Pokédex to get data on it.

"Pokémon unknown. No available data," said Mary's Pokédex.

"Dang. Must be a Pokémon that's normally not found in Kanto," said Mary.

"Sentret," said the Pokémon.

"Judging by the way it said that, Sentret must be it's name," said Mary.

(Insert "Kanto Wild Pokémon Battle" from Pokémon)

Mary then took out Bulbasaur's Poké Ball. "I think I'll catch this one. Bulbasaur, I choose you!" said Mary. She threw the ball and her Bulbasaur was summoned.

"Bulbasaur!" said Bulbasaur. Sentret saw Bulbasaur and took a battle stance.

"Bulbasaur, use Tackle!" said Mary. Bulbasaur charged and rammed Sentret. Sentret recovered and scratched Bulbasaur. This was Sentret's Scratch attack. Sentret charged, ready to scratch Bulbasaur again. "Bulbasaur, dodge it!" said Mary. Bulbasaur dodged Sentret's Scratch attack by jumping out of the way. "Okay, now use Growl!" said Mary. Bulbasaur let out a loud, piercing yell that distorted the air. Sentret covered its ears due to how loud it was. "Use Tackle again!" said Mary. Bulbasaur charged and tackled Sentret a second time. This was enough to knock out the Normal-type Pokémon, as indicated by its swirly eyes. Mary then took out an empty Poké Ball. "Poké Ball, go!" said Mary. She threw the ball and it hit Sentret, scooping it up. Mary watched as the Poké Ball wobbled, showing that Sentret was struggling to get out, with the center button glowing red. But then, the wobbling stopped as well as the glowing. A small ding was heard too, showing it was captured.

Mary picked up the Poké Ball and raised it high in the air. "Alright! I got my first Pokémon, Sentret!" said Mary.

"Bulbasaur!" said Bulbasaur.

(End Music)

Mary then hugged her Bulbasaur. "You did great, Bulbasaur. I'm so proud of you," said Mary.

"Bulba," said Bulbasaur.

"Bulbasaur, besides helping me catch new Pokémon, I'm also searching for my lost friends," said Mary.

"Bulba?" asked Bulbasaur.

"Before I became a Trainer, I went to a school called Acme Looniversity. Here's a photo of me with my friends," said Mary. She showed Bulbasaur a class photo of her and her schoolmates. "Before you ask, they're not Pokémon. They're toon animals. We were going to go on a field trip, but a former student named Elmyra tried to kidnap all the animal students to force them to be her pets with the help of the school bully, Montana Max, whom she has an unhealthy crush on. But she's not the smartest girl and sometimes can't tell the difference between species and is unaware she's abusing her pets. Some died because of her," said Mary. Bulbasaur shuddered hearing this. "Which is why we need to find them before Elmyra does," said Mary.

"Bulba," said Bulbasaur. Just then, Bulbasaur sensed something.

"What's up?" asked Mary. The two then saw a dirt trail moving past them as if something or someone was traveling underground.

"I think I recognize that kind of a dirt trail. Let's follow it and see where it leads us to," said Mary.

"Bulba," said Bulbasaur. The two then began to follow the dirt trail.

Not to far from where Mary battled Sentret and captured it, Ash was putting his plan to catch Pidgey in action. And it involved his pajama shirt. "Okay. Just be quiet. There's nothing to be afraid of," said Ash. He walked up to Pidgey until it turned and spotted him.

(End Music)

Ash laughed nervously. "Hi, little friend," said Ash. Pidgey waited to see what would happen. "Sorry, buddy!" yelled Ash. And he slammed his pajama shirt over Pidgey. Pidgey struggled to get free. Suddenly, his pajama shirt to inflate as a tornado formed underneath. It spun Ash and his pajama shirt around before they fell. Ash groaned as he recovered. "What happened? Hmm?" asked Ash.

(Insert "Pokédex Theme, Kanto-Johto Version" from Pokémon)

"Pidgey's Gust power creates tornadoes. It also has a Sand-Attack," said the Pokédex.

"Sand?" asked Ash.

(End Music)

Right on cue, Pidgey flapped its wings, blowing sand at Ash. Ash coughed due to the sand. Pidgey then began to fly away. "Guess it's not my lucky day," said Ash.

"Pika, pika, pika," giggled Pikachu. Ash growled due to his Pikachu giggling at him. Just then, Ash heard some coughing from somebody else.

"Huh?" asked Ash. Ash then saw that it was Buster Bunny, who was also hit by the Pidgey's Sand Attack just as he popped out of the ground.

"All right! Who's the fool who threw sand at me?!" asked Buster. Ash recognized him from the photo Mary showed him.

"Hey. You're Buster Bunny," said Ash. Buster's eyes widened.

"How do you know I am? We just met," said Buster.

"I met your classmate, Mary Melody," said Ash.

"You know Mary Melody? Where is she?" asked Buster.

"Right here," said a voice. Buster turned and saw Mary Melody.

"Buster, thank goodness you're okay," said Mary. She ran up to Buster and hugged him.

"You were worried about me?" asked Buster.

"Yes. I'm worried about all of you. But it's great to see that Elmyra hasn't captured you," said Mary.

"Thanks," said Buster. Then, he noticed Bulbasaur.

"Bulba," said Bulbasaur.

"Who's that?" asked Buster.

"Oh. This is my Bulbasaur. I'm now a Pokémon Trainer. I became one because it's the only I'm going to be able to survive getting around in the Kanto Region. So I'm traveling with Ash Ketchum here," said Mary.

"I've been trying to avoid getting captured by people thinking I'm a Pokémon," said Buster.

"We got to find the others soon. Your pal, Dizzy is causing trouble with his appetite," said Mary.

"Oh dear," said Buster.

"By the way Ash, I caught a Sentret, a Pokémon which I don't think is from Kanto. 'Cause when I scanned it with the Pokédex, it said there was no data. Did you catch anything yet?" asked Mary.

"No. And my Pikachu still won't obey me," said Ash. Pikachu was still laughing about Ash's humiliation from earlier. But he wouldn't be laughing for long. As he was laughing, somebody tapped him on the shoulder.

"Pika?" asked Pikachu. Pikachu turned around to see who tapped him.

(Insert "Alouette")

Suddenly, Pikachu was kissed on his lips by a pair of pink, lipstick coated lips. And those lips belonged to none other than Fifi La Fume. "Hello again, my cute and chubby croissant. I thought I lost you. But now I have you een my arms again," said Fifi. Fifi then began to kiss Pikachu all over the face, once again leaving pink kiss marks. Ash, Mary, Bulbasaur and Buster were witnessing the romantic scene.

"I don't believe it," said Buster.

"It's Fifi La Fume," said Mary. Now it was Ash's turn to laugh at Pikachu.

"Well, well, well. You didn't tell me that Fifi La Fume was your girlfriend," teased Ash.

"That's because she's not!" cried Pikachu. But Fifi just ignored what Pikachu said and continued kissing him anyway. Buster and Bulbasaur chuckled as well. Mary just shook her head. After kissing him, Fifi then began to give Pikachu a hug, smothering him with her bosom. Not to mention her smell was going off. Pikachu's face was slowly starting to turn more green than yellow. And Ash, Mary, Buster and Bulbasaur could smell it too from where they were. They held their noses with their hands. In the case of Bulbasaur, she did it with one of her vines. Fifi's smell was also starting to get to a Rattata that attempt to steal some food from Ash's backpack.

"Rattata," groaned Rattata as it collapsed on its back.

"Will you be my . . . boyfriend?" asked Fifi sweetly. Pikachu's eyes widened in horror when he heard Fifi say the "b" word.

"No way! No how!" cried Pikachu.

"Oh come on. You should be lucky to meet a pretty girl like moi. Ze French are ze most romantic people een ze world," said Fifi. But as Fifi was rambling, she didn't notice her smell was starting to wilt the tree she and Pikachu were standing on. Suddenly, the tree completely melted into green goo, leaving Fifi and Pikachu hovering in mid air. The two then realized they were no longer on something solid. "Merde," said Fifi. The two screamed as they fell to the ground. In the process, Fifi let go of Pikachu. Fifi landed on her back. "Le oof!" cried Fifi. As for Pikachu, he landed right on top of Fifi's breasts with a loud BOING. "Oh!" cried Fifi. Pikachu then realized where he had landed and gasped. He quickly got off of Fifi's breasts.

"I'm so sorry!" cried Pikachu.

"You're lucky zat you're cute, otherwise I'd slap you silly," said Fifi.

(End Music)

"Fifi," said Mary. Fifi then noticed Mary Melody and Buster Buster.

"Buster, Mary," said Fifi. The two went up to Fifi.

"Fifi, we were so worried about you," said Mary. She hugged Fifi.

"You were?" asked Fifi.

"Yes. Thank goodness that Elmyra hasn't captured you," said Mary.

"She almost did. But I'm safe, thanks to this cutie," said Fifi as she scooped Pikachu into her arms again.

"Pi," groaned Pikachu.

"You should've seen how Pikachu made a fool out of Elmyra. He zapped her til she fell off a cliff and eento a river. And ever since zat moment from a week ago, I've been een love weeth zis cutie," said Fifi. She then began to gently rub noses with him.

(Insert "Pokédex Theme, Kanto-Johto Version")

Ash then noticed the knocked out Rattata. "What's that?" asked Ash. He got out his Pokédex to get data on it.

"Rattata, the Mouse Pokémon. When they band together, they steal food from people's homes," said Ash's Pokédex.

(End Music)

"I guess Fifi's smell from when she was making out with Pikachu knocked him out cold attempting to steal your food," said Buster.

"Ash, you should catch while it's still down," said Mary.

"Okay," said Ash. He threw the Poké Ball and Rattata was scooped up into it. The Poké Ball wobbled like when Mary caught Sentret. It then stopped and the ding sounded. Ash picked up the ball.

"Alright! I caught Rattata!" said Ash.

"Fifi, this is Ash Ketchum. He's a Pokémon Trainer from Pallet Town. I'm now a Trainer too cause he and his mom let me stay at his house for a week. And Professor Oak taught me all about Pokémon. This is my first Pokémon, Bulbasaur," said Mary.

"Bulba," said Bulbasaur.

"Bonjour," said Fifi.

"So I see you know my Pikachu," said Ash.

"Hold on. Zis Pikachu ees yours?" asked Fifi.

"I got him just today," said Ash.

"How deed you get a hold of heem?" asked Fifi.

"Well, I got him from Professor Oak as my first Pokémon," said Ash.

"From what I heard from his granddaughter, Daisy, she found outside the lab, all tired up and covered in lipstick kisses & a strong smell," said Mary.

"Now we know it was you that left it on him. I bet he ran all the way to Pallet Town to flee from you," said Buster. Fifi let out an annoyed growl.

"Did you do your usual wooing tactics on him?" asked Mary.

"Of course, zat's how Pepé taught moi to do love. I can't help eet eef Pikachu has such a keessable face. What else am I supposed to do?" said Fifi.

"Maybe you should consider the boy's feelings," said Buster.

"Fifi, my mom told me that your aggressive hugging and kissing, trying to force yourself on boys like that, that can get somebody in legal trouble," said Ash.

"Not you too. It's bad enough zat my mother along weeth zese three sisters I met een Cerulean Ceety said Pepé's ways are wrong. Now you are discouraging moi," said Fifi.

"Because there are better ways to win a person's heart," said Mary.

"I don't know what you're trying to prove or know about romance, but you're going to get nowhere that way," said Ash.

"But zere ees one thing zat Pikachu needs to do for moi," said Fifi.

"And what's that?" asked Ash. Fifi then glared at Pikachu.

"You owe moi a new dress to replace ze one you ruined when you zapped moi last time!" said Fifi. She then showed Pikachu the ruined dress as proof. Pikachu let out a dismayed groan.

"But there's just one problem. Pokémon don't use money. So how am I supposed to get you a new dress if Pokémon can't legitimately use money? Ash would have to be the one," said Pikachu.

"Don't drag me into your problem, Pikachu. You got yourself into this mess. So you have to get out of it yourself," scolded Ash.

"You're only saying that to make me feel bad for not helping you catch Pidgey," grumbled Pikachu.

"He disobeys you?" asked Fifi.

"Yes. Pikachu won't listen to anything I say. He refuses to help catch any Pokémon and refuses to get in its own Poké Ball," said Ash.

"Shame on you, Pikachu," scolded Fifi, pointing at his nose.

"A Pokémon is expected to obey its Trainer," said Bulbasaur.

"Well said, Bulbasaur," said Mary.

(Insert "Today's Pokémon Curiosity" from Pokémon)

"Pidgey," cooed a voice.

"Hmm?" asked Ash. He saw a trio of Pidgeys in the grass. Ash decided to grab a rock. He then threw it at the Pidgeys. But the three birds flew away and the rock missed. Ash sighed.

"Good zing you became a Pokémon Trainer, Mary. Some of ze Pokémon here are very dangerous, something zat Elmyra learned ze hard way before she attempted to kidnap moi, only for Pikachu to come to moi's rescue," said Fifi.

"What attacked her?" asked Mary.

"A flock of angry birds," said Fifi.

"Hmm?" asked Ash. He saw in the grass what appeared to be another Pidgey. "I'll get you this time," said Ash. He grabbed another rock.

"Was it a Pidgey or one of its evolved forms?" asked Buster.

"No, eet was something zat looked and acted nastier," said Fifi. He threw the rock and it hit the bird on the head.

"I got it!" said Ash.

(End Music)

Unfortunately, it wasn't a Pidgey that he hit the rock with, it was a Spearow. A bump appeared on its head. It turned around and spotted Ash, growling at him. "Le gasp! That's the one! That's the type of bird Pokémon that attacked Elmyra," said Fifi.

"I wonder what that is," said Ash, nervously. He took out his Pokédex.

"Unlike Pidgey, Spearow has a terrible attitude. It is very wild and will sometimes attack other Pokémon and humans," said the Pokédex. Ash gasped.

(Insert "A Huge Free-for-All" from Pokémon)

The Spearow took to the sky and charged at Ash. Ash began to make a run for it. Spearow executed a dive bomb attack, but Ash ducked just in time. He grabbed onto his backpack as well. As the Spearow dived at Ash again, Ash used his backpack like a bullfighter's cloak to steer it away. He did it again the next time Spearow came at him a third time. Spearow then began to hear Pikachu laughing at Ash's predicament. Fifi just frowned at this. Spearow then decided to attack him instead. "Spearow!" squawked Spearow. It then charged at Pikachu.

"Pikachu," said Pikachu. Fifi gasped seeing that her crush was going to get attacked. She quickly grabbed Pikachu and Spearow missed him. But Spearow wasn't one to give up that easily. It charged again at both Fifi and Pikachu. Fifi ducked as well, still holding Pikachu. "Pika!" cried Pikachu.

"Hey, leave Pikachu alone!" said Ash.

"He deedn't throw ze rock!" said Fifi.

"Wild Pokémon tend to be jealous of human-trained Pokémon," said the Pokédex.

"Oh," said Ash.

"Pikachu! Pika," said Pikachu as Spearow continued to try to attack him. But Fifi continued to keep him away from the bad tempered bird. Spearow then recognized Fifi. For it was the Spearow that declared he was moving to Route 1. Now it wanted payback for getting stunk out a week ago. Suddenly, Spearow changed tactics. He whacked Fifi in the back with its head.

"Le ouch!" cried Fifi. This caused her to let go of Pikachu and Pikachu fell to the ground. Everybody gasped. The Spearow then began to try to dive bomb Fifi.

"I got a feeling zis Spearow ees one of ze ones zat attacked Elmyra earlier!" cried Fifi as she tried to avoid getting hit.

"What makes you say that?" asked Buster.

"They attacked moi just for being een ze area. And I stank zem out! And zis one knows moi!" cried Fifi.

"Bulbasaur, defend our friends!" said Mary.

"Bulba!" said Bulbasaur. Suddenly, Bulbasaur summoned some vines from its bulb, which extended and whacked Spearow, causing it to yelp.

"What was that?" asked Mary.

"This is Bulbasaur's Vine Whip, a Grass-type attack," said Mary's Pokédex.

"Bulbasaur, keep whipping it!" said Mary.

"Bulbasaur!" said Bulbasaur. She continued to whip Spearow with its vines. But then Spearow charged and executed a Peck attack, which knocked Bulbasaur down.

"Bulba!" yelped Bulbasaur as she fell to the ground. Spearow then resumed its attack on Pikachu, charging at it.

"Pikachu!" cried Ash & Fifi. Suddenly, Pikachu let out a Thunder Shock attack in defense. The electricity zapped the Spearow, electrocuting it. It had Xs for eyes, though it wasn't dead. It fell out of the sky and crashed to the ground, extra crispy.

"Ah, you got it!" said Ash. "Way to go!" said Buster.

"Serves you right, you rat weeth weengs!" said Fifi. Unfortunately, the Spearow wasn't finished.

"Spearow!" squawked the Spearow to a nearby tree.

(Insert "Raid" from Pokémon)

Suddenly, hundreds more Spearow started to fly out the tree, squawking angrily. They all started to charge at Ash, Pikachu, Fifi, Mary, Bulbasaur and Buster. Ash and the others gasped. "Should we run?" asked Ash.

"Pikachu," said Pikachu, nodding.

"No kidding," said Buster. Mary returned Bulbasaur to her Poké Ball. Fifi fired her stink in the form of a stink bomb explosion. The Spearows coughed due to the smell. When the stink cloud disappeared, they saw Ash and his friends were already running.

"You idiots! Don't let them get away!" said Spearow #1. And they chased after Ash and co. A trio of Sandshrew saw the group coming their path and they ducked before the heroes ran past them. Four Mankeys in some treetops were also watching the chase.

"Don't worry! No matter what, I'll save you Pikachu!" said Ash.

"We'll all save you!" said Fifi.

"Pikachu," said Pikachu as he started to run faster.

"Pikachu, come back!" cried Mary.

"Don't run ahead! I said we'd protect- OW!" said Ash as a Spearow whacked him in the head. They flew past Ash and the others and began to attack Pikachu, pecking and clawing at him.

"Pikachu! Pika!" cried Pikachu as he was getting attacked.

"Leave him alone, Spearows!" said Ash. Pikachu fell to the ground and all the Spearows began to gang up on him.

"Pika!" cried Pikachu.

"Pikachu!" cried Ash. Buster then got out a baseball bat.

"Get away from you, you bullies!" said Buster. He began to club some of the Spearows with his bat.

"Leave my leettle spark plug alone!" said Fifi. She got out a mallet and began whacking the Spearows with it. Spearows were sent flying everywhere as Buster and Fifi whacked them with their weapons. Ash then picked up Pikachu.

"Buster, Fifi, come on! Let's go!" said Mary.

"Right," said Buster & Fifi. Ash and the others then began to run from the Spearows again. The ones that got whacked earlier recovered. Now they were really mad. They now wanted to kill every one of them. Ash and his companions ran until they got to a cliff, with a river below them. They were trapped. But Ash wasn't giving up that easily.

"Well, here we go," said Ash, turning his hat backwards again.

"But I'm not dressed for swimming!" said Fifi.

"There's no time!" said Buster. Everybody screamed as they jumped and landed into the river with a splash. The five began to swim for their lives. They swam past a Magikarp, one of the weakest Water Pokémon in existence. Some say it is the weakest, but others say Wishiwashi from the Alola Region is. The five then saw Magikarp's evolved form, Gyarados coming at them. Ash and the others swam out of its path just in time.

(End Music)

Up on the surface, the girl who fished Elmyra out a week ago was fishing at that river too. As she sat there, she fell her line being tugged at. "Huh?" asked the girl. The line started to get pulled at real hard. The girl grunted. "Hey, I got a bite! Oh, wow, I really think this could be a big one!" said the girl. She then gave a good yank at her fishing line, pulling whatever it was out. But it wasn't a big Water Pokémon, it was Ash, Pikachu, Fifi, Buster and Mary. They all screamed as they were hoisted into the air. The five then fell on top of the girl, causing the girl to scream. The five wet people coughed. The orange-haired girl was at the bottom of the pile. "Ow. Nah, it just two kids," groaned the girl. But then, she spotted Pikachu, Buster and Fifi. "Oh, and three Pokémon!" said the girl as she got out from under the pile. She thought Buster and Fifi were Pokémon too. "Oh, are you okay?" asked the girl.

"Yeah, I'm okay," said Ash. But suddenly, the girl slapped Ash.

"Not you!" said the girl.

"What did you do that for?!" asked Ash.

"Look what you've done to those poor little things. You tried to drown them!" said the girl. Fifi's current tiredness was replaced with anger. The nerve of that girl, accusing of trying to drown Pikachu, Buster and her. Fifi walked up to the girl, curled up her tail into a fist. Wasting no words, the purple skunkette used her tail to punch the girl in the gut. The girl's eyes bulged out of head as she felt the breath knocked out of her. She tried to say something, but all that came out was pained squeaks and wheezes.

"How dare you! He wasn't trying to drown us, you hussy!" said Fifi.

"We just escaped a flock of angry Spearows and the first thing you do is slap him?!" asked Buster.

"You should be ashamed of yourself! I should charge you for assault! And don't try to make yourself look like the victim, 'cause you struck first," said Mary.

"And they say I sometimes look before I leap," said Buster.

"And for ze record, Buster and I are not Pokémon. We're toons," said Fifi.

"But is the Pikachu breathing?" gasped the girl. Fifi put her ear next to Pikachu's chest and could hear his heartbeat.

"Oui," said Fifi.

"Well, just don't sit there. It needs a doctor right away! There's a medical center not too far from here. You've gotta get moving now!" said the girl.

"You mean a hospital?" asked Ash as he got back up.

"Yes, for Pokémon," said the girl.

"Um, can you tell me, which way do I go?" asked Ash.

"That way," said Misty.

(Insert "Kanto Wild Pokémon Battle" from Pokémon)

Just then, everybody heard some wing flapping. They saw the Spearow flock was still coming. "They're coming back! Run!" said Ash. Suddenly, Fifi got out an ACME Portable Changing Room.

"Come on, Buster and Mary! Let's change eento our roller skate gear, pronto!" said Fifi.

"Right," said Buster and Mary. The three toons went into the portal changing room and changed into roller skates, helmets and knee and elbow pads.

"Good thing I didn't breeng my bellbottom pants. I didn't want to ruin zem," said Fifi.

"What about me?" asked Ash. Then, he saw the girl's orange bike, which had a basket in it. Relying on instinct, he got onto the bike and put Pikachu into the basket.

"Hey, what are you doing?" asked the girl.

"I'm borrowing this," said Ash.

"But, hey, that's my bike!" said the girl. But it was too late. Ash began to pedal the bike, with the toons skating behind him.

"I'll give it back someday!" said Ash.

"Oh, you!" said the girl. Ash and his friends wheeled through the forest as fast as they could. Just then, thunder began to rumble.

"Uh-oh. I don't like the sound of that," said Mary. They finally got to an open field. But lightning began to crackle as well.

"Pikachu," said Pikachu.

"Just hang on now, Pikachu. We're almost there," said Ash.

"We'll get vous ze medical help you need!" said Fifi. Rain began to pour down. But the Spearows weren't going to allow a bit of rain stop them from getting their revenge. With a screech, they began to attack at the heroes, pecking and clawing at them. However, they had a harder time attacking the toons, thanks to their helmets. One of the Spearows hurt her beak and claws on Mary's helmet.

"Bleep these helmets," said Spearow #2. Suddenly, Ash and his friends went off a hillside and landed on the ground. But they landed too roughly and fell to the ground. When Ash and the bike fell down, Pikachu was knocked out of the basket.

(End Music)

Ash groaned as he recovered. "Huh?" asked Ash. He along with Fifi saw Pikachu lying on the ground, hurt.

"Pika," said Pikachu.

"Pikachu!" cried Ash & Fifi.

(Insert "Tears After the Cloudy Weather" from Pokémon)

Ash and Fifi crawled up to the fallen Pikachu. "Chu," said Pikachu.

"Pikachu, this can't happen," said Ash. Tears poured from Ash's eyes. Lightning crackled as the Spearows were getting closer. Ash then got out Pikachu's Poké Ball. "Pikachu, get inside," said Ash.

"Chu," said Pikachu as he watched Ash enlarge the ball.

"I know you're afraid of going in there, but if you're inside, maybe I can save you. Please, Pikachu. Please listen to me and go inside. After that, then . . . after that, just trust me!" said Ash. He put the Poké Ball on the ground. Pikachu didn't move and wouldn't go in.

"Pikachu, please. He doesn't want you to die. I don't want you to die. The Poké Ball ees ze only thing zat'll protect you from ze Spearows," said Fifi.

"Pika," said Pikachu, shaking his head. Fifi then grabbed the ball and tried to tap the ball on Pikachu to get him inside. Despite being hurt, Pikachu was trying to hold the ball back with tail. Now tears were pouring from Fifi's eyes.

"Damn you, Pikachu! How can you refuse to be een ze ball when your life depends on eet?! Ash ees not doing zis because he's trying to boss you around! He's doing eet because he cares for you! I know you hate heem, but he cares for you! Pikachu, eef you won't do eet for heem, do eet for moi! I don't want you to die! I care too much for you! Pikachu, I love you! Pikachu! Pikachu!" cried Fifi. She began to sob loudly. She didn't do her usual "le boo hoo" or "le sob". She did actual crying. Ash stood up and spread his arms out.

"Spearows, do you know who I am? I'm Ash from the town of Pallet. I am destined to be the world's number one Pokémon Master. I can't be defeated by the likes of you," said Ash. As Pikachu struggled to prevent Fifi from forcing him into the Poké Ball, he noticed the way Ash was standing up to the Spearow. Mary Melody and Buster Bunny joined up with Ash, taking the same stances.

"And I'm Mary Melody from Acme Acres!" said Mary.

"I'm Buster Bunny, also from Acme Acres and protégé of Bugs Bunny!" said Buster. Seeing how she can't get Pikachu into the ball, Fifi decided that she had to help her friends defend Pikachu.

"And I'm Fifi La Fume, proud protégé of Pepé Le Pew!" said Fifi.

"We're trying to find our lost friends and you rats with wings are not going to stop us from finding them!" said Buster.

"And I too am going to become a Pokémon master in my search for my friends!" said Mary.

"I'm going to find my true love! And I believe Pikachu ees ze one! I won't let you keell heem just because you hate human trained Pokémon!" said Fifi.

"We're going to capture and defeat you all! You hear me?" said Ash. He got out Rattata's Poké Ball so that he'll be ready to summon it.

"This is your last chance to back away from a world of pain at our hands," said Buster, getting out his bat.

"Step down or you'll be sorry!" said Fifi, cocking her tail like a gun. Mary got her Poké Balls, ready to summon Bulbasaur and Sentret.

"Pikachu, go inside the Pokéball. It's the only way. Come and get me!" said Ash. All the Spearows began to dive bomb toward Ash, Fifi, Buster and Mary. Pikachu was surprised at what Ash and the others were doing.

Those guys, they're willing to protect me, after the way I treated them? They're gonna get killed!, thought Pikachu. Suddenly, instinct took over Pikachu. He got the strength to get back up and charged toward Ash and the others. He climbed up Ash and jumped off of Ash's shoulder. Ash, Fifi, Buster and Mary gasped.

(End Music)

Pikachu's cheeks started to spark as he prepared a Thunder Shock attack. Suddenly, Pikachu was struck by lightning, which caused his Thunder Shock to become more powerful. "Pikachu!" cried Pikachu as he unleashed the attack.

"Whoa!" cried Ash and the others as they were knocked back by the attack. The attack hit the Spearows with deadly accuracy, zapping them all. The attack was so massive that one could see a large pillar of lightning from a distance.

Very soon, the rainstorm stopped at last. The girls' bike was burned to a crisp as a result of the powered up Thunder Shock attack. Defeated Spearows laid all over the place. They weren't dead, but unconscious. Some of them had lost a lot of feathers and suffered serious electric burns. Some of them had dizzy eyes, others had X eyes. And some of the Spearows' eyes were all wide eyed and white. And their mouths were hanging open. Ash, Pikachu, Fifi, Mary and Buster laid on the ground. Ash's Pokédex had fallen out of its pocket. Then, they all regained consciousness, groaning softly. "Pikachu," said Pikachu. Ash let out a soft gasp.

"Well, we beat 'em," said Ash.

"Chu," said Pikachu.

"I'm so proud of you, Pikachu, mon amore," said Fifi. She gave Pikachu a soft kiss on his cheek, leaving a pink kiss mark. Pikachu just blushed. Mary noticed the fallen Spearows all around them.

"I think I'll catch one of them," said Mary.

"You sure that's a good idea, Mary?" asked Buster.

"I'll teach it to behave. Trust me," said Mary. She tapped one of the Spearows with a Poké Ball and it was instantly sucked into the ball. The ding sounded instantly this time.

"Whoa. You did a critical capture. That is hard to accomplish," said Ash.

"Wow," said Mary.

(Insert "A Meeting and a Parting" from Pokémon)

Just then, Mary saw something in the sky. "Look, up there," said Mary.

"Huh?" asked Ash. Everybody saw a large Pokémon up in the skies. It was Ho-Oh, but the others didn't know what it was yet. If flew over a rainbow. "What's that?" asked Ash.

"There is no data. There still are Pokémon yet to be identified," said the Pokédex.

"That must be a Legendary Pokémon just like that white lion that transported us toons here," said Mary. But as Ho-Oh was flying, something floated down and into Ash's hand. It was one of Ho-oh's feathers.

"Pikachu, someday we'll meet that Pokémon," said Ash.

After Ash and co. left the area for the Pokémon Center, the orange-haired girl came in the area and saw what became of her bike. She screamed loudly at the sight of it. "MY BIKE!" cried the girl. She growled angrily. "If I ever find that boy, he's gonna owe me a new bi . . . !" said the girl. But she stopped when she saw the fallen Spearows all over the area. She gasped at the sight of their burned bodies and faces of defeat. "Whoa. What happened here? Did that Pikachu do all this? Nah, it couldn't have. Pikachus couldn't unleash that powerful of an attack. Only a Raichu could," said the girl.

Sneak Peek

On the next episode of "Tiny Toon Adventures in Kanto", Ash, Mary and their friends arrive in Viridian City to have Pikachu and their other Pokémon healed at the Pokémon Center. But unfortunately, three crooks from the evil criminal organization, Team Rocket arrive to steal Pokémon from the center. Can our heroes defeat these crooks with Pikachu still healing? Find out, in "Pokémon Emergency!" on "Tiny Toon Adventures in Kanto"!

I hope you enjoyed reading this adaptation of the very first episode of the original Pokémon anime. Ash and Mary have started their journey and have reunited with both Buster and Fifi. Not only that, Mary caught a Sentret, while Ash got a Rattata thanks to Fifi's horrible smell, by accident. Fifi referencing bellbottom pants is a nod to Tiny Toons Looniversity cause Fifi wore those in "Tears of the Clone". Just like in the 20th movie, Ash gets a Rainbow Feather. When he'll meet Ho-Oh, that's for you to find out. The identity of who stole Charmander from Professor Oak will be revealed later. Next episode, our heroes will cross paths with Team Rocket.
