The next day, at school, I went to Kristy and said, "When I get to your house, can I go talk to Sam first?"

"Sure," said Kristy.

"I just wanted to talk to him about Rick and Jack," I said.

After school, when I went to Kristy's with the Willis girls, I asked to speak to Sam in private.

"Okay," said Kristy.

"I'll meet you both in a minute," I said.

"No problem. We'll be in her room," said Kayla.

I went to Sam. He has been like a brother to me even though I have Jeff and Carlos now.

"Sam, are you busy?" I asked.

"No," said Sam. "What's up, Mary Anne?"

That was when I sat down with him and I told him about what happened.

"Really?" asked Sam. "I had no idea."

"Yes. The Willis girls were with me and they both said I did the right thing to say no," I said.

"Honestly, I'm glad you did, especially not to let them taking you home," said Sam. "Don't they know that drugs are illegal for minors? They could've been busted."

"There's something that they did to me. They took the money that I owed my father for the phone bill. I didn't even know it when I saw the weeds in my purse," I said.

"What? That is crazy," said Sam.

"I don't know if they did it while I was here," I said.

"Good question. I didn't see them take it," said Sam.

"I gave the weeds back to them," I said. "At least I was taught early that it's okay to say no to drugs. They tried to pressured me to do it, but I said no."

"Good for you," said Sam.

"My biggest fear is to tell Dad for what they did to my money," I said.

"What are you afraid of?" asked Sam.

"I'm just afraid that he'd be mad at me," I said.

"I understand. I think he would be understand it wasn't your fault," said Sam.

"He only knew about everything else," I said.

"Oh, yeah, I ended their friendship," said Sam.

"I didn't think you kept them," I said.

"I just ended it," said Sam. "I just knew they weren't for me."

"I'm not sure if I want to keep those guys," I said.

"I don't blame you for that," said Sam.

"They're trying to change for who I am," I said.

"Did they tell you that they were in foster care their whole lives?" asked Sam.

"No," I replied.

"Their parents were on drugs," said Sam.

"Wow," I said. "There is no excuse for it."

"I know," said Sam.

"The girls told me they're bad news," I said.

"They're right," said Sam.

"Imagine if that was me smoking weeds? Dad could've grounded me," I said.

"You got a good point," said Sam.

After we had a long talk, I felt a little better. I went to join the girls.

"What Sam say to you?" asked Kristy.

"He was telling me he is no longer friends with them," I said.

"Good," said Kayla.

"Sam wasn't surprised when he heard that," I said. "Sam was telling us they were in foster care, because their parents took drugs."

"That explains why they're like that, but that's not excuse to act the way they are and it's not cool to follow their parents' footsteps," said Kayla.

"Exactly," I agreed. "My dad says I made a lot of good choices."

"Of course," said Kayla.

At home, I went to Dad.

"I had a long talk with Sam," I said as I explained on what he said to me.

"Really?" asked Dad.

"Yeah," I said.

I almost wanted to tell the truth, but I was afraid to lose Dad's trust. In my room, I was at my mirror at my vanity talking to myself. I have a hard time on what to say.

"Dad, I would like to tell you something.. I don't know how to say this, but..," I paused. "No."

I got up and got on my bed.

"Mary Anne," said Dawn as she came in. "Are you alright?"

"I'm just trying what to say to Dad about the money situation," I said.

"I thought you told him," said Dawn.

"No, I'm afraid to. I'd be scared he'd be mad at me," I said.

"I don't think so," said Dawn. "Just tell him what's going on."

"I did tell him everything else. I just didn't know the money was missing until yesterday," I said. "I panicked. I just don't need to have a nervous breakdown because of the guys."

"I'd be worried about that, too," said Dawn. "I'll tell him."

"Um, I just want to tell my own way," I said. "I just need to figure it out."
