Chapter 3 "Only Questions"

Since Cell did get annoyed pretty much nonstop at his tournament ring, he had no other choice than to fly around, hoping for trouble.

Looking down to the ground, he remembered Uranai Babas Castle being not too far away from this place. His data told him, that she's a fortuneteller, which helped Goku and his friends sometimes in need. Since the red ribbon army had no special interest in her, they didn't collect that much data about her.

His curiosity led him closer to the castle, and he was able to see dozens of people, standing in line to get their future told. Remembering Gokus words, he kept his distance, but couldn't deny that he was interested enough, to get his future told, even though, it wouldn't do much. He already knew the outcome.

He would win.

Leaving the desert, he flew over the ocean and couldn't think about anything interesting to do. Instead of flying around doing nothing, he would love to cause some destruction. Gokus words... He hated it, because he wanted to have his fight with Goku. And no ordinary fight, but a true challenge to his perfection. Cell had... to comply. What a mess. Cell thought about the brunette again. Did she know Goku? He didn't want to talk to her, because he felt it was under his level, talking to an ordinary human. How dare she, coming to him and ask why she's still alive! He should kill her, because she doesn't recognize his perfection and doesn't take him seriously. But on the other hand, was she more respectful then the other one. At least, the brunette didn't ask to get trained... She didn't want anything at all. How weird was it, that a human, he had threatened, had guts enough to talk to him again? Didn't she understand, that he was being serious? Why did she bother asking him why he didn't kill her, when it was obvious, that he took his time and didn't care? After his victory, he had plenty of time to spend, so why bother now? She wasn't anything special, so there was no reason to spare her. She's weird. Cell had to think back when she screamed because she forgot something. The funny face she had and the way she flung around her arms made him smile once more. Why did she have to burst into his life? If he hadn't tried to scare her and ignored her instead, he wouldn't have to bother now. It annoyed him so much, that he also knew what kind of music she listened to. He felt like it was too in timed, and he didn't like that.

"You know what Cell? You think I'm crazy, but I'm not! You don't know me!"

He didn't think about her as being crazy. On the other hand, was it kind of crazy to instead of hiding, going up to him and talk. Like she thought, one could negotiate with him. But she also didn't do that. She didn't plead with him nor did she negotiate, instead, she wanted to know why she was still alive... Yeah...why? Cell couldn't remember why he let her live.

He stopped midair and tried to remember...

...

"Can't be!" said Cell out load. He didn't remember! How could that be?

What's going on? He let himself drop like a stone.

The situation he found himself in, frustrated him to no end. Too many if- scenarios played in his head, while falling faster to the ground.

He should train...

The ground came closer and Cell questioned, if he would feel the impact at all. Not far from the impact, he stopped the free fall and dropped on all four to the ground. Dust and rocks flew through the air, while a crater formed. Cell felt like he had only two options, if he wanted to fight Goku; having the displeasure of waiting until his tournament, or talking to the brunette and maybe having some fun? Why in god's name did he think the latter was an option? Why didn't he want to like her? Goku and his friends could draw wrong conclusions! ... Nonsense. Just because he had a nice talk with someone, doesn't mean the world is saved!

No.

He didn't want to.

Also, he didn't want her to brag about it, even so, that he thought that it wasn't something she would do. She didn't look like that kind of person... What should he do? And if he met up with her? What's the problem? It would distract him of waiting!

Cell had to think about how good laughing felt. It was like he laughed for the first time because it was funny and not for the misfortune of others.

Why shouldn't he let things happen, which felt good to him?

He didn't have to be friends with her. Just some chitchat...

Standing in the middle of nowhere, he ranted:" Complete Nonsense!" Why did everything have to be so complicated!?

The wind blew through the trees and made the leaves rustle. Cell stopped his thoughts for a moment and looked around. He knew he was on an island, but not which in particular. The weather was tropical and the sky without a cloud.

Without minding a specific direction, he started to walk alongside the beach. Taking a stroll would give him time to overthink his situation.

What would be the right thing to do for him?

How should he go on?

The sun met the horizon and Cell was still on the island.

He enjoyed the stay, because he was able to cause some chaos. Turns out, he stumbled over a small village on the island. Humans thought, they would be safe here and didn't expect him to show up. When they saw him, everyone screamed and fled without thinking twice. He didn't kill anyone, but they still run for their lives. The hotel, he stood in front of, was lifeless now, and he walked over to the other side of the building. Water was his first thought.

He was happy. Finally, something to do, and Goku couldn't say anything against it, because he didn't kill anyone. There was an old man having a heart attack or something, but no one cared, and so he died. Who cares!? Oh, the misfortune! It made his mood rise.

Cell entered the back and saw the bar in front of him. Immediately, he noticed someone under the bar table, but ignored the foolish human. Looking around, it seemed the bar only contained alcoholic drinks and because of that, he walked up to the table, with the human underneath. Cell knocked on the table and waited for a reaction, but he got none.

"Seems like someone doesn't like customers?", he said it with a mocking tone in his voice and to his amusement, the person jumped and hit her head from under the table. A woman crawled out of her hiding spot and fumbled around. "Yes, yes... o-o-off c-course! What can I bring you?" she asked, frightened and tried to smile. She resembled the brunette a bit. The hair color was the same. Cell put his right arm on the table and ordered water. Why not having fun for once? The woman shook badly, but was still able to serve him. She almost let the glass of water fall down, but got a hold of herself. Without much control, she put the glass of water forcefully on the table, and water flung out. She cleaned up the mess right away. He could tell, that she was losing her mind. He was happy to be there, because finally, he got the enjoyment of causing fear." Who serves me so kindly?", asked he, and took the glass of water. Her face turned red, and she looked to the ground, unable to stare into his eyes. She answered in a whispering voice:"My name is Yasa."

"You know, Yasa, next time you try to hide, make sure that you hide completely. I was able to spot you, because of your hair sticking out of your hiding spot." Her mouth flew open, and she stared at him wide-eyed. "T-t-thanks! I wasn't aware!" He felt bad for her. The only reason she was still alive, was not only Gokus words but also, that he loved to get served.

He emptied his glass, put it back on the table, and thanked her. When he left, he heard her yell something at him, but didn't understand nor cared for it.

He walked back to the beach and had to think about the brunette again. Even after hour long thinking, he didn't find an answer on how to continue with her.

But what he knew was, that he liked her, and he hated himself for that.

The weather was outstanding good. Now, that he reached his perfection, the search for the cyborgs didn't bug him anymore. But what should he do with his time now? He wanted his fight against Son Goku, but after that? What would he do, after he destroyed earth? Would he fly around space, until he found another species to decimate? He wanted to do it. Cell wanted to be the reason, why all life in the universe vanished, but on the other hand, there wouldn't be anything left for him. Thanks to Piccolos and Freezers genes, he would live a very long life. He could do it. He could decimate everything.

But if he did, he would lose everything he could have ever had in life. What a dilemma.

Looking over the sea, he watched as the sky turned red. It would be dark soon.

In a second, he made up his mind. He should listen to his intuition more. That also included the brunette.

So he made plans; If she came to him, that would be ok, but he wouldn't go looking for her. If she wanted to ask something, she needed to make a move first. This was the perfect solution, because he made clear that he would kill her if she came back, so this wasn't an issue anymore. She wasn't dumb, she wouldn't come back. He wouldn't have to deal with her anymore.

The day came to an end and Cell felt he had to return to his tournament ring.

He would return in darkness, but that didn't matter to him. He had sharp senses and if he needed light, he could easily create light on his own.

He got close to his ring and saw a car approaching it. Cell stopped in midair and watched as the car slowed down and parked in front of the tournament ring. A person stepped out of the car, and he was able to identify her. Her. Her again. Impossible.

How dare she not take him seriously!? He told her, he would kill her if she returned!

"Cell?" She yelled his name, but he didn't want to respond. She walked to his ring and sat down, then leaned back. Unbelievable! "Cell, come down here!", sadly, she noticed him, levitating above her, before he could leave. "You are here again!?" , he said it with annoyance in his voice. She stood up and cried:"I did a huge mistake and came back here by accident!" He didn't believe her. Looked like she wanted his attention. "By accident, sure." The woman noticed his annoyance and said:"I'm so sorry! I only wanted to take a break here and then move on, ok?", but Cell questioned, why she didn't return home directly. He had enough:" I don't understand why you're here again. Can't you take me serious for once? I'm going to kill you. Didn't I make myself clear?" He was puzzled, because she was different. Her voice was raspy, and her aura was almost not noticeable. She tried to explain herself:" Cell, I believe you when you tell me that you will kill me, but then, there is nothing to lose anymore. If you want to kill me, then nothing matters anymore, because everything is already doomed." Her way of coping with her soon-to-be death, surprised Cell. He thought, that it didn't reach her yet, but it actually did, she just rolled with it. Hopefully she would leave... He wanted to tell her, that she acted irresponsible, regarding her life, but she cut him off:"No, You play with my life! I would prefer to chat with you instead of talking about my death all the time! I can't change your mind, and that's why I can do whatever I want! Not only that, but I will enjoy my last days!" He didn't want to hear it. He didn't want to say out loud that he was able to comprehend her mindset, so he tried to be defensive:"You want to chat with me? What do you want to chat with me about!?" He couldn't help, but she seemed completely dizzy: "Well, I don't know, maybe you like cacti?" She gesticulated wild with her arms, and he was caught of guard:"Cacti!? Why would you think that?" "I dreamed about you buying cacti!"

...

She can't be serious!

"Why the hell would you do that?! What is wrong with you!?" She didn't like his tone, because now, she raised her voice:"Excuse me!? I can't change what I dream about, that's my subconscious deciding. You know what? It doesn't matter, I don't want to start an argument with you!" Why is she defensive again? "Why is that important to you? I don't get it!"

"Because, we got along pretty well until now." No. No. No. She said what he didn't wanted to hear. All in all, it was pretty safe to say that she liked him. He disliked that a lot and repeated what he said before: "Got along pretty well!? I will KILL you after my victory. How many times do I have to repeat myself!?" Her voice gave in: "You don't have to tell me, I already know!" and she started sobbing:"To be honest, I can't stop thinking about anything else anymore! Why do you want to kill me? I haven't done anything to you!" She kneeled down and started to cry uncontrolled:"I could have been home already! Why is everything the way it is? Why meee? What did I doooo!?" He wasn't sure what to do. On one hand, he wanted to chat and pass the time until his tournament, because thanks to Goku, there weren't many options left what to do, but on the other, he was who he was. Why couldn't he just turn off his feelings and kill her? It wasn't that hard before!

All of a sudden she screamed:"That's not fair!", but Cell was confused, "What is unfair about me killing you after my victory? I will kill you like everyone else-" She cut him off and yelled:"Because you're giving me a chance!" Cell was furious. "Are you serious!? I WILL kill you after my victory, don't make me repeat myself again!" And Cell thought she was aware of her situation... "Because you don't know if you will be victorious!"

Her voice echoed in his mind.

She was right.

He gave her a chance, because he gave Goku ten days to prepare. Ten days, to maybe break his limit. Cell didn't know his new techniques nor what he could accomplish in that timeframe. Maybe Cell would indeed lose his tournament... and that would save her life, because he said IF he was victorious. And she was right when she said they got along well. She was alive after all. At that moment, he remembered why he didn't kill her. Maybe she knew Goku or his friends... he wanted to know. He wanted to know, so badly, what information he missed. He felt, without it, he wasn't complete.

Taken aback, he asked:"You're skeptical about my victory?", but she only said, "Yes.". No way. Impossible. Had she always been like this? He tried again, to make her realize her situation:"Don't you understand how powerful I am?" he asked softly, but no was all he got. It made him feel like she didn't care for his power or what he did with it. It seemed like she was … ok with who he was... "Why not? You saw the destruction I left behind!" he reminded her, but the answer was nothing he had ever seen coming:"Thanks to Piccolo, I experienced far worse!" She experienced the same things, Goku had, but from another angle. How interesting. She was a stranger, but familiar at the same time. She was like Launch. Being there but also disconnected. Her breathing relaxed, while her crying calmed down. Seemed like she was exhausted to no end.

She whispered, "I want to get over with this! Kill me!" but as long as she served his curiosity, he wouldn't. Her aura shrink down rapidly."I don't want to make it this easy for you!" She didn't catch his intention and chuckled, " Oh, so you're up to chat with me now, or?". Why did she have to be like this? Why couldn't she just mind her own business? That would have been the easiest for both of them. His nerves reached their limit and he wanted her to leave immediately. Reproachful, he told her:"You know what? You could have stayed home!" and let go of her arm. She was unconscious before she hit the ground.

Her aura vanished completely, and it made him feel helpless. He didn't know what to do, because he didn't want to be bugged with taking care of another being. He kneeled down and touched her cheek. Surprised and shocked, he yelled out:"Hey, wake up!", but to no avail. He pinched her cheek to wake her up but she didn't move. She was still breathing, and it calmed him down a bit. Looked like she tried to ignore her fate, but reality came back to her in full force...

He didn't know how to handle the situation and looked around. Her car stood next to them, and might should put her in her car? He scratched that option, because he thought a stable lateral position was more important right now. After her position fit her needs, he continued thinking, on what to do next. Maybe she had something in her car, what could help now? Maybe she had a capsule house or something... She at least needed a blanket...

He walked over to the car and opened the drivers' door first. He looked around but couldn't find anything useful. He blindly touched with his hand under the seat but didn't find anything. He stood up and walked to the car trunk and opened it. There were three black bags in it, and Cell opened one out of curiosity.

There was money in the bag. It looked like a lot. Cell mumbled to himself „Wow, she drives around with a lot of money." and tried to estimate the amount. Seemed like she had around 1 Million Zeni in her bag. He opened the other two bags too and found almost the same amount in each and weapons. „Weird. That doesn't seem like her." he wondered and closed the bags. Interested, he opened the smaller side pockets and found a white business card. Tao Pai Pais name was visible. What. Was. Going. on. Cell looked over to the brunette. She got more mysterious the more time passed. He loved it.

As if she was part of Gokus life he didn't know anything about. They could talk about the same things!

He put the bags out of the car to see, if there was something under them, but didn't find anything useful.

What to do? He didn't want her to be around him...

He put everything back in its place and closed the car trunk.

He walked frustrated to the passenger's door and opened it. Luckily, he found her handbag under the seat and took it. He looked inside to maybe find something that could help, but he found her purse instead.

It was heavy, and he wanted to have a look at her ID. He opened it and the first thing he noticed were all of her credit cards. He didn't know why someone needed so many, but her driver's license caught his full attention.

Mina.

Her name didn't ring a bell, but she definitely was tied to Goku or his friends in some way. Now, he knew her name... and where she lived. So he knew what to do. He didn't want her to sleep at his ring, so he had to bring her home. If she returned to ask why, he could deny everything.

He put her belongings back into her car and closed the doors. Then he walked over to the button and pushed it. In a second, the red car turned into a tiny capsule, and he kneeled down to grab it. He walked back to Mina and picked her up. Her breathing was calm and relaxed, so Cell assumed, that she broke down because of exhaustion.

Carrying her bridal style, he pushed himself off the ground and flew towards her home.

It didn't take him long, and he reached her hometown. He only had to find her house now.

He put her on her bed and he sloppily flung a blanket over her.

What was he doing!? It didn't make any sense! What he did, contradicted everything he said!

He stood in her room and watched her sleeping. Her face was trashed. Her make-up was smeared all over her face and she looked like she had cried the entire day.

Maybe she had a blackout and wouldn't remember? He should remove the make-up, to make it more hard for her to remember... He walked to her bathroom and searched for make-up remover. He found some tissues and walked back to Mina. Carefully, he cleaned her face, and after he was finished, she looked tired and pale. He threw the tissues away and dimmed the lights. If she truly had a blackout, then she hopefully wouldn't be reminded by her make-up of the incident...

Everything looked fine, and he walked out of her flat.

Cell regretted it deeply. His decision wasn't the best, and it wouldn't play out in his favor. It would bite him some day. He was sure about it.

Didn't matter to him, he shouldn't care about it anymore. He needed to rest and hope, that she wouldn't bug him anymore. Even though, she was very interesting...
