Chapter 19: Triple Threat I: Collision
November 3rd
Age 762 (2012), Themyscira, Royal Courtyards
"Our mission today was once again unsuccessful. All of our attempts to venture off paradise island have been unfruitful."
Growling frustratedly, Derinoe slammed her fist into the armrest of her chair. "How long must we suffer?"
"This is all because of Diana and her mother. I knew we should have slain them earlier!" Donna shouted from the chair next to Derinoe.
"Hush your mouth!" Alkyone commanded. "You may share Hippolyta's DNA, but you have no right to speak of her in such a manner." Killing the former queen had a been a necessary evil, but an abomination such as her had no right to even discuss such a matter.
"Or what?" Donna inquired as she jumped from her seat. "I've sensed a growing animosity from you ever since the civil war. Just what is your problem?"
"My problem?" Alkyone parroted. "My problem is the fact that an abomination like you, sees itself fit to even be here. Derinoe and I are supposed to be ones in a position of leadership. You are just an abnormality born from devilish magic." The former royal guardsmen jumped from her seat, sword in toe, as she stood eye to eye with Diana's half-sister.
"Alkyone, stop it!" Derinoe ordered as she rose to intercept them. "We cannot allow such confusion and conflict to be seen by our populace!" Down a cascading pair of steps stood a bewildered group of Amazons. The women sent on a scouting mission could not believe the brewing anger from their so-called leaders.
Noting the perplexed look on the soldiers faces Alkyone lowered her sword. Whatever issues she had with Donna could be resolved at a later time. "You're right, forgive me Derinoe."
"All is forgiven Alkyone," The elder Amazon acquiesced. "Donna what of you?"
Begrudgingly, the woman born of magic returned to her seat without uttering another word. Derinoe was a veritable mother to her. She would not embarrass her any further.
"Good," Hippolyta's former lover sighed in relief. "As for you," Derinoe said as she pointed towards the awaiting Amazons. "You are all dismissed. Until further notice. You may be called upon again if we have need of your services though."
The squadron of women took a bow before quickly dismissing themselves, exiting the royal courtyard as they left their leaders to their own devices.
"We cannot show such weakness in the face of our citizens Alkyone!" Derinoe chastised, once the area was clear of any curious ears.
"Is it a weakness for me to point out the folly of having a monstrosity lead the Amazons? Unlike you or I, she wasn't even born in this community. She knows little of it, or anything for that matter, besides what you've put into her docile mind." Alkyone spat back. Donna had never been included as part of their discussions when they'd plotted to overthrow Hippolyta.
"Why do you speak of me as if I am not here?" Donna uttered through grit teeth. Alkyone's lack of respect was truly beginning to grate her nerves. "The only thing keeping me from bashing your skull in is the respect I have for Derinoe and her vision for our people."
"Our people? See? There she goes again!" The ex-guardsman exclaimed with a pointed finger. "She has done absolutely nothing to even earn the honor of being called an Amazon. She couldn't even defeat Diana in battle. The only reason she is sitting among us is because of your blatant favoritism towards her!"
"I may not have been able to defeat Diana," Donna resentfully admitted. "But my skills and proficiency are still far beyond anything your useless body is capable of."
"Useless?!" An incensed Alkyone screamed. "You had better bite your tongue before I slice it for you!"
"ENOUGH!" Derinoe shouted at the top of her voice. Alkyone and Donna were shocked by the decibels such a withered voice could produce. "I understand both of your frustrations but we need to put them aside for the greater good of our nation."
"What nation are you even speaking of? Our island is now literally in the middle of nowhere. Hera, in her righteous fury, flooded our island and dumped it an unknown dimension. We've been trapped here for Athena knows how long!"
"Isn't this what the Amazons have always wanted though Derinoe? Complete solitude from man's world. What is so wrong with what we currently have?"
"This solitude is a complete misfortune, Donna. It is a punishment from Hera! She believes it to be some sort of restitution for Hippolyta's deeds. All of the Amazons should not have to suffer because of the actions of their former queen."
Hera had been swift and brutal with her punishment. Derinoe and Alkyone had believed she would simply punish Hippolyta and her daughter, but the queen of the gods had unmercifully judged them all. As soon as Hera had unleashed the waves, a miniature tsunami overtook the island. But miraculously, no one had drowned due to the waters, even as the island submerged into the sea.
Paradise island was pulled deeper and deeper into the ocean, the land mass completely disappearing from the world above. By this point the Amazons had given up all hope, believing this was the end to their proud people. But once again, much to their surprise, the tiny nation was pulled from the sea, emerging in a completely different location. The landscape was completely unfamiliar, devoid of any surrounding life, save for the ones of Themyscira. There were a sun and sky, but beyond that, nothing else.
In short, their once proud nation had been transported to a desolate location. None of the Amazons knew where they were. Even with their best attempts using magic and technology they were unable to discern their location. Every attempt to leave the island was blocked by some supernatural force. As soon as any Amazon would venture beyond a certain distance the waters surrounding the island would rise to terrifying heights. It was clear they were being kept here.
Gradually, over time, the Amazons succumbed to their fate. They still relentlessly tried to seek a route off the island, but they adjusted to their new circumstance. A bloody civil war on top of a brutal punishment from Hera had nearly broken the Amazon's spirits. Alkyone and Derinoe had done their absolute best to keep their people united over this time period, but things were reaching a boiling point once more. Though few Amazons would say it, a noticeable fracture was growing between Alkyone and Derinoe over Donna.
"The only good thing that has come about from this unjust punishment is Diana's torture." Derinoe mumbled to herself. At least one of her goals had been accomplished.
"Yes, that is something we can all agree upon." Derinoe supplanted. Hippolyta's scion was paying the toll for her mother crimes.
"Hopefully she's dead by now." Donna grimaced at the mention of her half-sister. Her defeat at Wonder Woman's hands still angered her to no end.
Age 762 (2012), Themyscira, Doom's Doorway
"You'll have to do better than that!"
Leaping into the air Diana narrowly avoided a pair of poisonous fangs. Sweat dripped down her face as she somersaulted back onto the ground. Her opponent was large, gigantic in fact. It was easily the biggest monster she had face during her duration in this hell hole. The fearsome seven-headed hydra was even more terrifying than her mother had described. In terms of brute strength, she easily outclassed the beast, but it's duplication abilities kept her on edge.
Snapping back to the battle at hand she raised her gauntlets in the nick of time, shrugging off a fiery blast from one of the monster's heads. While her body was unharmed, the sheer sweltering heat caused her to stumble slightly. But pressing on, ever courageous, Wonder Woman managed to survive it, valiantly gaining traction with every step that she took. Eventually, the beast took a hint, realizing his flames were of no use and dissuaded from the action.
Unfortunately for Diana, the other six heads took this moment to strike. In a dazzling display of acrobatics, Hippolyta's daughter evaded every bite from their jaws. Her body contorted and twisted in every angle to avoid what was sure to be a fatal strike. As she ascended into the air once more the Amazon paused to think of a strategy. Slicing any of the monster's heads would simply result in more popping up in its place.
Though the beast had multiple heads it still only possessed a single body. If this creature was like any other creature, mystical or not, it had to possess a heart of some kind. Striking that heart with a killing blow was sure to defeat the hydra once and for all. The major problem now would be the location that heart. Her ever trusty sword was still strapped to her waist, all she would need was one chance.
Speeding back towards the monster Diana charged with reckless abandon. Flames were emitted once more, spewing from multiple heads this time as Wonder Woman did her best to parry them all. Fortunately, her speed was more than enough to dance around the flames. Though unable to speak Diana could sense the frustration from the creature as she glided around it. Finally after several minutes of going around in circles Zeus' daughter was able to reach the monster's torso.
It was huge, easily towering over her normally tall frame. But Wonder Woman had no time to dwell on that as the monster's heads began to encircle her once more. Swiftly unsheathing her sword she drew it with lightning precision. In the blink of an eye, she viciously stabbed it into the creature's chest. A violent wail erupted from the beast's heads as it cried out in pain, staggering back in shock. With a final raucous roar the creature collapsed dead, slumping to ground with a hard thud.
Breathing a deep sigh of relief Diana wiped the sweat brimming from her forehead. While that monster had been ferocious, it was nothing she couldn't have handled under normal circumstances. But that had been her tenth battle of the day. While she possessed immense stamina, even she wasn't sure she could continue at such a pace. Doom's doorway never presented her a moment to rest for too long.
At every turn there was some kind of monster, demon, or ghoul waiting to kill her. Hell, it was a miracle she had even survived this long. Anyone who was subjected to an imprisonment here was basically subjected to a fate worse than death. The thought of her friends and family outside of her present circumstance were the only things keeping her going. There had been plenty of times where Diana had felt like giving up.
The gods had literally given up on her. Hera had unjustly punished her and her Amazon sisters for the deeds of her mother. Her mother had been killed by that very same goddess. Her sisters had turned and betrayed the very queen they had sworn to protect. Wonder Woman had faced challenges before but nothing had been as overwhelming as this. It felt as if the entire world was against her.
But regardless she was still an Amazon, irrespective of how her sisters felt about her. Her child, her only child, and loving son was depending on her. She couldn't abandon little Gohan to grow up alone without his mother. Her husband would provide a stable ground for their son, but he could not fill her role. How dearly she missed them both. Nearly every second of every day was spent pondering them.
She would have prayed to the gods about their fortune but they had already long since abandoned her. Diana was completely on her own now. So far she had managed just fine. The constant life or death battles had taken some getting used to, but now it was almost second nature to her. She would have to do whatever it took to survive. When she finally made it out of here Derinoe, Alkyone and Donna would all pay!
The trio had thrown her into this abyss following Hera's flooding of the island. Diana hadn't witnessed it with her own two eyes, but she presumed her mother was dead. After the waves had receded her mother had been nowhere to be found. Chain and shackled like a wild animal her once loving sisters her unsealed doom's doorway tossing her into it. They had deemed it an even more agonizing end that a simple execution.
But Wonder Woman had survived, she always survived. There was a reason she was regarded as the world's most powerful female warrior. Though nearly everything had been stripped from her she would still persevere through the darkness. It was always darkest before dawn. She just hoped that once this ordeal was finally somehow resolved, that she would have something to go home to. I hope Gohan and Goku are doing okay. Athena forbid something has happened to them.
Age 762 (2012), Paprika Wasteland, Chikyu
Krillin, Piccolo, and Gohan all stood in shock as Nappa finally finished powering up. The previously blackened sky had returned to it's normal serene blue. Piccolo had been confident of his power and abilities up until this point. The Saibamen had been a mere warm up, but the power radiating from Nappa's body was beyond anything he could have ever dreamed of. He could only hope that Gohan's training had been enough, this was the moment of truth.
"I can see the fear in your eyes. I hope you're prepared to die!" With those parting words, the large Saiyan vanished from the battlefield.
"Where did..." Krillin's words were abruptly interrupted as Nappa suddenly appeared in front of him. The extraterrestrial paused for a brief moment, taking a moment to smirk, before promptly smashing his fist into the former monk's stomach. The sickening sound of bones snapping reached the remaining fighters ears as Krillin dropped to the ground. Clutching his stomach Goku's best friend wailed in pain; he had never been hit with such force before.
Gloating at his handiwork, the Saiyan attempted to stomp Krillin but was halted by an unexpected Ki blast. The blast collided, detonating on his back as it exploded with an immense amount of pain. The slightly agitated Saiyan immediately turned facing his attacker, Gohan.
Nappa smirked indigently "You're going to regret doing that pipsqueak."
The Demi-Saiyan barely had time to register the words before Nappa struck him with a fist to the face. A shockwave reverberated as the child was sent vaulting through the air. His flight was finally stopped when he crashed into a mountain. Stirring from his slight irritation, Nappa refocused his attention on the battlefield, setting his sights on his next victim. He grinned as his eyes fell upon Piccolo.
Nappa charged full speed, at a level Piccolo could not hope to match at his current stride. The Namekian instead did the best he could, and simply slid into a defensive stance. It was to no avail as the Saiyan arrived, slamming full force into him. The pain he felt was incredible, but brief, as Nappa promptly blasted him away, with an orange Ki beam. Kami's evil half soared across the battlefield before he finally crashed into a cliff.
Seeing his sensei rocketing in the distance Gohan summoned his strength and charged. He arrived quickly, lashing out with a roundhouse kick. To his surprise, it was easily caught and gripped. Turning, Nappa began to spin madly, gaining velocity before finally throwing the child into the air. As the older Saiyan finished hurling Gohan, he was struck with a kick from behind. Nappa stumbled forward a bit before regaining his footing.
Slightly peeved he turned back around and lashed out with a chop to Krillin's neck. The slice missed, barely scratching the former monk's neck. Giving a quick sigh of relief, Master Roshi's pupil jumped back into battle. He launched a fist, only for it to completely miss its target. The former monk blinked quizzically, twisting his neck in various directions hoping to find his missing foe. His search attempt was halted as he was struck by an elbow to the face, before being barraged with a flurry of blows.
Krillin's pain finally ended when Piccolo decided to interrupt his skirmish with Nappa. An orange foot struck the large Saiyan's face. Vegeta's partner was momentarily dazed before he was struck with an onslaught of cerulean Ki blasts. Capitalizing on the opening, Piccolo struck again with heavy fists to the face. The Saiyan staggered back as they hit, before shockingly smiling.
"Is that all you have?"
Nappa chuckled as he wiped the blood dripping from his lips. A frown crossed Piccolo's face as he watched on. Sensing something ominously bad about to happen, he retreated several yards away. The Namekian's intuition was correct, as an explosive wave ripped through his previous location. A trail of smoke formed as the attack scorched the surrounding area. Piccolo breathed a heavy sigh of relief, believing he had dodged a bullet. Kami's evil half was proven terribly wrong when another humongous blast of Ki struck him. He was engulfed momentarily before he was flung through the air.
"Piccolo!"
Gohan's worried cry only diverted Nappa's attention to him. Nappa smirked before rushing to engage Demi-Saiyan. He was slightly surprised as Gohan recklessly charged towards him. As they finally approached one another in the middle of the battlefield, Gohan promptly vanished. Scowling, Nappa immediately turned to locate his miniature foe. His eyes finally converged upon the child, who was found hovering in the sky. For a brief moment, their two intense gazes met before they lunged at one another. They collided in mid-air, causing a shock wave to echo as they clashed.
Slightly retracting from one another, both warriors converged on one another, again, with fists drawn, meeting with vastly different results. Nappa's fist missed as it struck an after image. He growled as he began another search, failing to find the boy. He did, however, observe a luteous beam of Ki headed his way.
"Masenko!"
The young Saiyan's words echoed throughout the field, as the blast slammed into Nappa. A huge wave of dust encased the battlefield briefly, before finally dying down.
As it dissipated, Gohan looked towards Nappa's location and was greatly disturbed by his findings. Nappa hovered, completely unharmed, and grinned madly at the young boy "I like you, kid, you're a lot of fun!" Gohan stepped back, greatly freighted by the man in front of him. Nappa's words barely had time to register with Gohan before the Demi-Saiyan was assaulted with an amalgamation of punches and kicks. With a final blow, the Goku's son was sent catapulting from the skies and into the rigid ground below.
Gohan arrived with a crater and a large clang of dust announcing his arrival. Unable to move he laid there in immense pain. "Gohan!" the sight of his Godchild injured made Krillin lose control, angrily stampeding towards Nappa. The bald Saiyan chuckled as the two collided, kicking up a torrent of wind as their knees crashed into one another. The clash was short as Nappa quickly overpowered the former monk.
In a swift motion he punched Krillin directly in the face, sending him staggering back. Krillin had no time to recover, as Nappa appeared before him in a flash. He cringed as another fist engulfed itself in his skin, this time, landing in his stomach. Krillin shrieked loudly as his knees wobbled before they finally collapsed to the ground. Dazed, he glanced up and met gazes with a grinning Nappa.
The Saiyan chuckled at Krillin before outstretching his palm directly in his face. Krillin gasped as he sensed the massive accumulation of Ki forming in at his fingertips. He shut his eyes and silently waited for the inevitable, but it never came. Krillin was saved as Piccolo intervened, striking the Saiyan with a quick combo of punches. The effects of the Namekian's assault were minimal and only caused the Saiyan to become agitated.
Nappa quickly retaliated by blasting Ma Junior away with the attack he had intended for Krillin. He smirked as he watched Piccolo tumble back hundreds of yards. Satisfied with what he had viewed, Nappa turned and faced his opponent; only to find out he wasn't there. His anger showed as he lashed out with a Ki blast which impacted Krillin's former location.
"Up Here!"
Nappa turned and gazed into the sky, only to view a massive blue beam of light headed towards him. "Kamehameha!"
Krillin smirked slightly as she viewed the torrent of light consume Nappa. His vision, along with battlefield was briefly obscured with dust as the attack finally ceased.
"You damn Earthlings! You're starting to really piss me off!"
Krillin's eyeballs nearly leaped out of their sockets, as he viewed an unscathed Nappa appear from the smog. A scowl formed as Nappa captured Chichi's gaze. "You're going to get it now!" The words barely had time to reach Krillin's ears, before pain echoed throughout his body. As blood soared from his lips, he gazed down and viewed Nappa's fist, submerged within his abdomen. His state of shock was cut short as Nappa abruptly elbowed his face. His head snapped back and rang with pain as Nappa once again smashed into his face, sending him crashing from the sky. With a sonic boom, Krillin arrived on the ground, encased in a crater.
"I'm disappointed, I don't understand how Raditz had any trouble with these Earthlings!" Nappa's booming laughter stirred the Earth's heroes from their various craters and resting places.
Groaning as he rose to his feet Piccolo frowned as he glared as his gloating opponent up above. Where the hell is Superman? We could really use his help at a time like this.
Age 762 (2012), Mojave Desert, USA
Lowering his hands from their upright position, Superman slid into a defensive stance. Turles Ki shot up briefly before he vanished from sight. Clark's eyes narrowed as he used his enhancedsenses to locate his opponent. A resounding shockwave soon pinpointed the location of the Saiyan as he struck Superman across the cheek.
The Man of steel's body involuntarily budged as his neck twisted back from the blow. A slight frown crossed Kal-El's face before he retaliated with a fist of his own. The left jab caught air, as Turles vanished once more.
The frustrated Kryptonian let out a grunt and turned, only to be greeted with an unexpected elbow to the ribs. A knee to the chin, quickly gave Superman another reason to grunt, but out of pain. As he elevated higher into the sky, Turles other elbow rammed into his neck, forcing him down. An ax-handle smash sent the Kryptonian spiraling through the sky.
Nearing collision with the ground, Clark halted his descent. Growling, he turned and rocketed back towards the sky. Turles was ready and greeted Superman with a pair of fists and kicks as he arrived. The man of steel parried them all, before returning the favor with some of his own. The Saiyan mimicked the Kryptonian's moves and simply evaded them all. After a few moments of relentless combo's the two warriors finally broke apart. Kal-El scowled at the grinning visage of his opponent before phasing from sight.
The sky and landscape were soon filled with explosions and shock waves as the warriors collided simultaneously. Multiple blows were thrown, and blocked, resulting in multiple shockwaves. The super-speed battle abruptly ended, as Turles was punched out of mach-1. Superman immediately pounced on the opening, firing laser beams at the momentarily dazed Saiyan. The disgruntled invader had no time to react and was promptly struck by the seething streams of heat.
A cry of pain erupted from Turles lungs as the laser beams pierced his skin. Superman capitalized on the opening and charged with a cocked fist. There was a massive clap of thunder as Turles vaulted through the air, reeling back in pain. The Kryptonian wasted no time and quickly followed up. Appearing behind the Saiyan, Clark elbowed Turles in the spine. The mirror image of Goku gasped in pain, as he was thrust forward. His flight finally ended as he tumbled into the grainy sand below.
"Will you finally tell me about this war now?"
Seemingly on cue, Turles stood up, wiping the dust from his clothes. He grinned before he ascended to the sky. Finally appearing before Superman, he spoke.
"I'll admit I have been underestimating you. You're proving to be far more powerful than the rest of your pathetic race."
Kal-El grit his teeth at the insult. How could Goku have been a member of such a war mongering race?
"But this fight has only just begun Kryptonian!"
Catching Clark off guard Turles lashed out with with a fist. Raising his left arm, Superman managed to block the blow just in the nick of time. A small shockwave followed, causing Kal-El to stagger back slightly, but remain relatively unharmed. The Saiyan, however, was relentless and launched another jab, only for it to be blocked as well. Tired of taking defensive measures, Superman threw a punch of his own. But Turles sidestepped it, managing to latch onto his still extended fist.
Grabbing the long appendage, the Saiyan began to twist in a circular motion. The man of steel was brought along and was soon encased in a miniature hurricane that the Saiyan had caused. After finally gaining enough velocity, Turles released the Kryptonian, sending him soaring in the opposite direction. Clark tumbled for a few hundred yards, before finally settling himself. The man of steel was given no reprise as he felt a figure emerge behind him. He attempted to move but suddenly felt himself encased in a bear hug.
"I could kill you right now Kryptonian, all it would take is a little bit of Ki." Turles goaded as he whispered into Superman's ears.
"But you won't." Kal-El calmly replied as his arms began vibrating at a rapid rate.
Turles was completely back as Superman managed to escape his grasp, literally slipping out of his hands.
"What was that technique?!"
Turles received his answer in the form of a fist to the face. The Saiyan flew back, completely stunned by the unexpected attack. Superman's fist eventually retracted but was quickly replaced by a leg. This time though, Turles was able to block it. Switching tactics Kal-El retreated slightly before launching another attack. Turles was completely prepared this time and blocked easily blocked the approaching blow.
Blocking another fist, Turles lashed out with a knee which was blocked by Superman's elbow. The two warriors glanced at each other, before distancing themselves. But they quickly approached again, throwing an amalgamation of viscous strikes at one another. The resounding shock waves from the blows were tremendous, rocking the surrounding landscape. After what felt like an eternity, Turles managed to gain the advantage in their skirmish.
With a quick head-butt, the Saiyan ended the supersonic battle. Superman tumbled back as Turles seized the opening he had given him, digging his massive knee into his ribcage. Clark gasped in agony before a fluorescent beam of light overtook his field of vision. The Kryptonian was sent rocketing away, as the blast detonated. The Saiyan zipped off, quickly appearing behind the man of steel.
Bringing his hands together, Turles lifted them up before promptly slamming them down on the Kryptonian's back. The man of steel's direction was rerouted as he was sent spiraling southwards, towards the ground below. A miniature sandstorm ensued as Clark slammed into the Earth. Superman's eyes were finally jarred open by the staggering pain he felt in his stomach. He attempted to stand up but found it too painful to immediately do so.
As he writhed on the ground Turles landed on the other side of the desert, smirking as he walked towards the Kryptonian. Kal-El frowned, as he saw the cocky look on his opponents face- he wouldn't be mocked. Climbing to his feet he slid into a basic battle stance, one Goku had shown him dozens of times. Turles quickly charged forward, arms outstretched in a punching motion. He was greatly circumvented, when his fist was evaded, by a slight head turn.
The Saiyan quickly attempted another attack, thrusting his other fist. This time it connected, but not at the place he'd aimed it. Clark's grip tightened as he squeezed the Saiyan's hands, causing him to give a slight whimper of pain. The fist was eventually released, as Turles struck out with a pair of quick jabs with his free hand. Superman's head bopped up and down, as the Saiyan's blows, pounded his face. After a minute or so the Saiyan backpedaled away, seemingly ending his assault.
Rushing to re-engage him, Superman fired multiple laser beams at him. Turles was careful this time and did his best to dodge the volley. However, the Saiyan had failed to notice Clark who had now appeared in front of him. Thrusting his hands forward, Kal-El submerged his fist into the confines of Turles stomach. The Saiyan gasped as Superman dug deep into his abdomen. The repulsive sound of bone cracking reached Clark's ears, cheering the Kryptonian on to continue. But Superman's momentary victory was halted as he noted the amused smile on his opponents face.
The man of steel quickly attempted to remove his fist but was unable to as Turles bashed his skull against his own. Superman's head snapped back as he received a follow-up fist to the face. Unceasing, Turles capitalized on the momentary lapse, dishing out the most brutal combination of blows he could. The dazed Kryptonian remained under attack for what felt like an eternity.
Seemingly tired of the one-sided affair, Turles summoned topaz Ki to his hand and unleashed it upon, the disoriented man of steel. A gust of wind followed as the booming explosion died down, leaving a trail of smoke in its wake. As the smoke cleared an unharmed Clark appeared with his jaws wide open. Blowing hard Kal-El summoned a torrent of wind from deep inside his stomach.
Turles was pushed back but was relatively left unharmed. But that small scene granted Kal-El a much-needed opportunity. Surging forward with an extended leg, Clark attempted a roundhouse kick. Ducking his head, Turles evaded the strike and latched onto the appendage. Tightening his grip The Saiyan began spinning in an all too familiar rotation. Superman immediately recognized what was happening and decided not to play this game again.
Two twin laser beams shot out of Superman's eyes, stunning the Saiyan. The steaming Saiyan instantly relinquished his grasp, giving Clark opportune time to strike once more. Superman pounced, attacking with a successive combination of blows, each more powerful than the last. Focusing all his strength into his right arm he finished with one last powerful bang.
The pain echoed throughout Turles face before it was replaced, by a new more powerful sensation, caused by Clark's foot. A spit laden gasp, escaped Turles mouth as he was plowed by several of the Kryptonian's kicks. The pain finally subsided as Superman ended his brutal assault with a roundhouse kick, which sent Turles flying in the distance. The Saiyan's flight finally ended after a few hundred yards. Shaking the cobwebs he looked up just in time to receive a right hook from Kal-El.
The Saiyan's neck twisted, pain receptors bursting to life. Sluggishly, Turles attempted to retaliate. But his lethargic punch was easily slapped away by Superman. His follow up butterfly kick wasn't any better and was easily ducked under by Clark. Still, in kicking motion, Turles left his stomach wide open for attack. Kal-El accepted that invitation and promptly slammed his fist into the Saiyan's stomach. A blood laden gap escaped Turles lips, as he reeled back from the blow.
His pain further increased, as Superman violently grasped his head and slammed it into his knee. Head still ringing, Turles skull flew back as Kal-El let go. His brief moment of freedom was cut short as two fists collided with the opposite end of his face. Turles screamed as blood began to gush from his ears, which were stuck between the Saiyan's fists. Clark eventually released his hands from the Saiyan's head, and quickly brought them together.
"This battle is over, I've won! Just tell me about this war and I promise no further harm will befall you."
"Befall me?" Turles chuckled, with blood seeping from his skin. "I've only just begun the battle you fool!"
Grinning, the man who was Goku's mirror image summoned Ki to his palm. This Kryptonian always left himself wide open while engaging in conversation. Unprotected, Kal-El was jolted back as a powerful stream of Ki impacted his stomach. His body tumbled back, yards away, eventually crashing into the sand dunes as Turles finally arose.
"I've only been using a fraction of my power up until now. I was hoping to avoid drawing Nappa and Vegeta's attention, but you've proven to be too great of a nuisance." Turles scowled as he crouched low.
Clark was immediately stirred from his resting place as the Earth around him began to violently sway back and forth. What in the world is happening? As the Kryptonian finally looked up he saw his answer. That's impossible!
Age 762 (2012), Pacific Ocean
"Chiaotzu can you sense that?" Tien halted mid-flight as he turned to face the direction of a surging energy level.
"It's even more powerful than the one emitting from Chikyu!" The mime-like man exclaimed.
"There can't possibly be a third Saiyan on Earth can there?" Yamcha questioned in disbelief. That power was unlike anything he had ever sensed before.
"I don't know, but we have to find out," Tien concluded. "If it is another Saiyan who knows what he could be up to?"
"But will Piccolo, Krillin, and Gohan be enough to handle their opponent?" Chiaotzu chimed in. All three of them had grown tremendously during the past year, but still seemed to be struggling against their opponent.
"We'll just have to hope and pray that they are," Yamcha frowned as he folded his arms. It had been sheer luck that the Lone Wolf had bumped into Tien and Chiaotzu on his way to the battlefield in Chikyu. They had been confident of their abilities, until they had sensed this sudden uptick in Ki.
"Well whatever it this power level may be; we'll have to stop it." Tien grimaced as he sensed the unknown being's Ki surge once more. Everything about his Ki was completely negative- this was certainly not a friend.
"Well then, what are we waiting for? There's no time to waste!" And with those parting words the trio blasted off, heading towards the Mojave desert.
A big thank you to everyone who reviewed chapter 18!
Authors Note: I made a Tumblr since it will be much easier to manage everything related to this story on there. The link is in my bio, feel free to check it out. I'm also still looking for artists to commission art for this story so if you know any PM ME. I know this chapter is slightly shorter than usual, but it's not without reason for this story arc.
Q/A:
darkmist111: There was no particular reason for it, I just didn't include it lol.
dark flacon: What sidekicks are you referring to? The Teen Titans will appear much later down the line, and I'll check out your story.
Rowknan: In previous chapters I've stated that the only things I will possibly include from Dragonball Super will be Beerus, Whis, and SSG. I had this story planned out a long time ago before the show started.
Dangermandeetz: The Teen Titans will appear much later down the line and Gohan will be a part of them.
Jack Redhawke: Those are all good guesses, and one of those things will happen in the future.
Uub God Of Destructuon: I always reply to my reviewers because without you guys, I wouldn't even be writing this story.
Ultimate Black Ace: Argus has a lot of resources at it's disposal. In a couple chapters I'll explain how they had such knowledge. Lapis and Lazuli are dead as of this moment. The fights with the Saiyans will not be the same as canon, as you saw from this chapter. I touched on Superman's power level in this chapter. Now that you mention it, I really haven't had the DC and DBZ characters interact with one another a lot. I'll make sure to stress those interactions going forward. I went back and corrected those mistakes, thanks for pointing them out. And as always, thanks for the well thought out review.
ImposterParrotGrass: Andriod 17 and 18 would be way too powerful for the Suicide Squad. The story is intentionally going slow because I'm trying to build things up. I have a lot of things planned for this story. As I've previously stated I intend for this story to reach an excess of one hundred chapters. Zod and co are too powerful to introduce right now. They would just pretty much kill everyone.
Guest: Gohan will be incredibly powerful in the later chapters.
Mds777: That was a mistake on my part in the previous chapter.
JOEl: Yes, there are other empires out there. Mongul, Maxima, Darkseid, etc.
