Chapter 55
Monday Evening, Summer 2013
Olivia sniffled as she walked towards her apartment, she could feel the burning pressure of unshed tears behind her nose, and eyes. She promised herself a long time ago, that she wouldn't cry anymore tears because of Serena, a monumental task that she failed at repeatedly. In that moment, as she felt tired, angry, and beat down, she realized the only thing she wanted, the only thing she needed, was Elliot. Normally after an argument with her Mother she would seek out other things, alcohol, one night stands, anything to distract her or make her forget who she came from. Now, now all she wanted was to be in the presence of someone who loved her, someone who knew her, somebody's whose eyes she could look into, and see the love and affection they felt for her as clear as day.
The feeling surprised her, she'd never been the type of woman to rely on others, whether it be for comfort, or happiness. But she trusted Elliot with more than just her body, she trusted him with her feelings, and despite the shitty day she had, she couldn't help the small smile that appeared on her face, pulling at the corners of her lips, for the first time in her life the thought didn't scare her, it comforted her, just like Elliot did himself.
As she rounded the corner to her apartment she looked up. For a moment she thought she was dreaming, seeing her young Detective leaning against her door, feet crossed, head tipped back, still as a statue, as if he would wait the whole night for her to come home in that position. It felt like a gift from God.
She came to a stop in front of him as he stood up straight.
They both opened their mouths to speak, each exhaling loudly, no sound escaping past their lips, as they stared into each other's eyes.
Their conversation was silent, and Olivia felt her shoulders drop, releasing the weight of the world from them. She flung her body into Elliot's, wrapping her arms around his shoulders.
Elliot supported her physically, holding her close, he felt her face press into his neck. He turned his head, burying it into her long flowing hair, even after a long day at work her scent calmed him.
He didn't know how long they stood like that, chest to chest, each seeking and finding the comfort they both needed.
Slowly Olivia pulled back, kissing his cheek, she opened her apartment door, dropping her belongings inside, she quickly toed off her boots, as Elliot did the same.
Olivia grabbed a bottle of water from her fridge, draining half of it as she walked into her living room, where Elliot sat holding his head in his hands.
"What happened? Where'd you go?" he mumbled, dropping his hands to look at her.
Olivia shook her head, "I don't want to talk about it."
Elliot bit his lip but nodded, "Well then what do you need? What can I do for you?" Olivia was relieved he didn't press her on it, and happy that he respected her wishes.
Olivia curled her body into his on her sofa, and pressed her hand over his heart. She could feel the steady beating underneath her palm, it's perfect cadence soothed her. She knew every heartbeat was unique, but she would swear under oath that Elliot's was a perfect match for hers. When the one in her chest was rapid and pounding, his was slow and quiet. When hers was tired and weary, his was energizing, and electric. Her heart beat for him, and he was breathing life into her.
Slowly she trailed her hand down his body, she felt him inhale and hold his breath when she tugged on his belt.
"Oli-" she cut him off as she maneuvered her body, throwing a leg over him, she straddled his lap.
She held his head between her hands, and sealed their lips together, 'You can't trust a man for anything,' her Mother's voice reverberated in her head.
"Mmmm," Elliot moaned when he felt her tongue slip past his lips. She was in total control, angling his head back so that she could deepen the kiss. She grabbed his hands, and placed them on her ass.
When the need for air became too great, she broke their kiss, "You, I need you."
Elliot looked up at her, unable to stop his hands from squeezing her ass, she swivelled her hips on top of him, already creating a delicious friction between their bodies. He tried to get a better read on her state of mind, but she closed her eyes, and nuzzled his nose.
"Please," she breathed the word into his mouth.
Elliot nodded once, and stood to his feet, hearing her exclamation of surprise as he carried her to her bedroom. He would never turn her away, or make her beg for his affection, his attention.
He placed her down softly, but she immediately hopped off the bed.
She approached him and grabbed onto his belt again, but she didn't stop there. She moved her hand lower and cupped his semi hard on through his pants, "This, I need this." She wanted to feel him, all of him, with nothing between them, just his warm body surrounding her, 'Men will only want you for your body,' she could hear her Mother saying. Was that true? Was she right she wondered… but Elliot was already hard and she hadn't shed an article of clothing yet.
Elliot coughed, choking on his reply, "Yours, I'm all yours."
Olivia backed up, and quickly stripped off her work clothes, she knew this wasn't their typical foreplay, but she had an overwhelming need to move things along, especially with her Mother's words on repeat in her head. She was sure once they got into bed that all her stress, and all her worries would fade away.
She tipped her head towards him when she noticed he was still standing, and staring at her, "I need those off too," she stated, indicating his clothes.
Elliot finally moved his hands, and began removing his clothes too. He watched Olivia walk to the side of the bed in nothing but a matching emerald bra and panty set, as she slipped under her sheet.
After stripping down to his boxers he joined her in bed, "Want to feel close to you," she muttered, turning onto her side.
Elliot met her in the middle, stroking the side of her body with his hand. He could feel her pressing against him from his feet, up their intertwined legs, all the way to her firm belly. She was really going to have a hard time hiding her pregnancy soon.
Olivia ran her hand over the side of his face, resuming the kiss she had broken in the living room.
As Elliot felt more of her smooth silky skin, his journey was interrupted by her bra strap. He made quick work of the clasp, happy to hear her moan of relief when he removed the restraining garment from her body. She flung it behind her, and instantly Elliot could feel her swollen breasts against his chest.
They both groaned in pleasure, Elliot loved feeling her body against his, with nothing in between them. He knew she had already gone up a full cup size, and at times her nipples seemed to be extra sensitive, he loved watching her body change as her pregnancy progressed.
Olivia moved her free hand reaching down, she slipped it past his boxers, cupping him again. Despite his shaft being hard as a rock, his skin was so smooth and soft. She grasped his erection, giving him something solid to thrust against.
This time it was Elliot who broke their kiss, as they laid on their sides, he trailed his mouth down her neck, sucking on a particularly sensitive spot. He couldn't pinpoint the exact problem, Olivia seemed to be into it, she was moaning, and behaving as she usually did when they were being intimate, but for some reason he felt as if she wasn't 100% present. She was keeping her eyes closed a lot, he never realized how much their eye contact made him feel so much more connected to her.
Using his free hand he pushed his boxers down, using his hips, and legs to squirm out of them. He tugged on the only remaining article of clothing on either of them, divesting her of her panties too.
He slid his hand up her thick thigh, until he could cradle her ass, gun to his head he wasn't sure if he could ever choose a favourite body part. Every part of her could get him excited, he was slightly embarrassed that just the sound of her voice could turn him on as well.
Leaning forward he kissed her again, moaning into her mouth as her hands held his body tight, he hoped he created the same emotions, and sensations for her, as she did for him, without even trying.
"More, God Elliot, mmmm I need more," Olivia groaned.
He shifted his hand from her ass, around her hip until he could slip it between her legs. With one of her thighs propped up on his, he had more than enough room to pleasure her with his fingers.
"Mmmm Li-Liv?" Elliot pulled his head back slightly, he had slid a single finger between her folds, expecting to feel her warm wet juices, but she was basically dry.
Olivia covered her face with a hand, and rolled onto her back, "Just-fuck, just give me a minute."
Elliot waited as he saw her move her own hand under the sheet towards her core, while her other hand toyed with a perky breast.
"Liv, hey isn't that my job?" Elliot wasn't sure what was happening, but he suddenly felt very inadequate.
"No, not you, pro-promise," Olivia's brows were scrunched together in concentration, as she tried to clear her mind, 'People always leave,' her Mother taunted.
"Olivia look at me," Elliot cupped her cheek, and turned her head towards his.
Olivia shook her head trying to block out the nagging voice, "No, no, no."
"Please," Elliot whispered, believing her refusal was directed at him.
With a heavy sigh Olivia opened her eyes, instantly they were brimming with tears threatening to fall.
"Livvvvv…" Elliot pulled her body into his, bending so he could surround her. He heard, and felt her sob, her tears coating his neck.
"I'm here Liv, I'm here," he kept repeating. He wouldn't 'shhhh' her, or tell her 'it's okay'. She needed to let go, get it out, and he refused to give her false optimism, when everything was up in the air. He wasn't sure where she went after work, but he knew her current state of distress was due to Serena.
Elliot continued to hold her as her body shook, knowing there was nothing he could say in that moment.
"I'm-I'm so-so-sorry," she stuttered, lifting her head off his neck to rest on his bicep.
"Don't you dare," Elliot growled, angry that she would even try to apologize to him.
"Woah-wait," Elliot gasped as she palmed his cock, which was still semi erect between them.
"I want to I-I swear," Olivia gulped loudly, her bloodshot eyes were still wet from her tears.
Elliot moved quickly, snatching his boxers from where they were discarded at the foot of the bed, and slipping them on.
"One sec," he dashed out of the room, coming back a minute later with the water bottle she had begun to drink when they came in, he also picked up his dress shirt.
"Drink," he said as he got back into bed and handed her the bottle, "Don't want you or baby B to get thirsty, and here," as Olivia sat up, he draped his shirt over her shoulders, happy when she pushed her arms through the sleeves and rolled them up. She didn't button it up, instead choosing to finish off the bottle of water he so thoughtfully got for her.
"But what about-?" Olivia asked between sips.
Elliot waved his hand dismissively, "It's a common occurrence around you, it'll go away don't worry."
Olivia nodded, and together they got comfortable sitting against her headboard.
"You wanna talk about it now?" Elliot inquired, when her breathing returned to normal.
"I didn't think she could still get to me like this…" Olivia trailed off, her mind far away.
"Hmmm, your Mother?"
"Can I even call her that? When I think about the quality and traits that make someone a Mother, I can't help noticing she's lacking all of them. Aside from when she pushed me out of her body, that's basically when our Mother daughter relationship ended," Olivia began to explain.
"I don't like the stress she's causing you, and our baby, and I know that I'm the reason for it but-"
Olivia turned her head sharply, "You have nothing to do with her attitude."
"But the whole reason she's on your case is because you're dating me…" Elliot stated in confusion.
"El, you could be any man, and she'd be issuing the same ultimatum, and trying to break us up. It's because you're a man, and she hates all men, I swear if I didn't know any better she'd probably prefer I was a lesbian," Olivia chuckled lightly.
Elliot smiled at her joke, "So then-"
Olivia looked down at her lap, "I went to her place after work. Thought I could, fuck I don't know what I was thinking, but I thought maybe if I spoke to her, on her turf, tried to explain how important our relationship is, how much you love and support me, that maybe even if she couldn't understand or relate to it herself, I don't know? Maybe she'd back off?"
"Mmhm, I take it that didn't happen?"
"Not exactly, anyways after she spewed her thoughts and feelings, including the gem that she wished she'd never had me, I guess I just had enough. I realized she'll never love me, or anything attached to me. I dropped one of our recent ultrasound pictures in her lap, congratulated her on becoming a grandmother, and walked out," Olivia finished quietly.
"Wow," Elliot was somewhat surprised she had taken that step. He worried it gave Serena even more power. It was one thing to be sleeping with your subordinate, and having the NYPD find out, it was another to have a baby with the same younger employee.
Fresh tears fell down Olivia's cheeks, "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I know I shouldn't have done that without talking to you and-"
"Wait, wa-wa-wait," Elliot leaned towards her, covering her hands in her lap with one of his, he used his other to cup her cheek, and lift her head towards his.
"Liv, I don't give a shit about what happens to me! I can always get a job somewhere, anywhere, as long as I can provide for you and our family, that's all that matters to me. But you? Liv you love SVU, and you love being a cop, I just don't want her to do anything that would threaten your ability to do that," Elliot wiped away the tears falling from her mahogany eyes, while simultaneously imploring her to believe him with his own gaze.
"Guess that's up to her now," Olivia shrugged.
Elliot moved down in bed, and pulled Olivia with him until they were both comfortable. He held her close, and kissed her head, every couple minutes.
"No matter what happens, I'm with you Benson, this is just another obstacle for us to overcome. If it was easy, it wouldn't be worth it right?" Elliot mumbled, feeling her head nod against his chest.
"I really am sorry for trying to use sex to distract me from my problems," Olivia confessed.
"Hey don't get me wrong, I don't know if I'll ever object to having sex with you, but you know I'm not here for your body hmmm? It's an added bonus I'm not gonna lie, and your pregnancy body is turning me on even more which I didn't think was possible, but I want you for your mind, your personality, your emotions and feelings, your heart and soul. I love experiencing all these great firsts, and birthdays, and holidays, and things, but I also want to go through the hard stuff with you too. I want us to comfort each other, be present physically, or being a sounding board when you're frustrated and you need to talk or vent."
Elliot continued, "I'm not naïve Liv, life isn't roses all the time. We're gonna go through some shit, but there's no where in the world I'd rather be, then by your side, when that happens. I want you to lay it on me, 24/7 a day, or night."
"You're amazing," Olivia sighed finally feeling secure.
"You make me amazing, I love you Olivia Benson, and even your Mother can't buy, or scare me away, you're my present, you're my future, you're my forever," Elliot ran his hand up and down her back, hoping to sooth her.
"Thank you," Olivia gushed as her eyelids became heavy.
Elliot furrowed his brows, "For what?"
"For being you, I love you too," Olivia muttered, as her breathing slowed down.
"You never have to thank me, get some sleep, you both need your rest," Elliot himself couldn't keep a yawn from escaping his mouth.
Olivia was dozing off to the beat of his heart. That heart that she knew now without a doubt really was a match for hers. Perhaps this man really was her soul mate, it sure seemed like the other half of her soul was residing in him.
"Fine I'll sleep now, if you promise to ravish me in the morning," Olivia kissed the skin under her lips, over his heart.
"Hah, with the way you're wearing my shirt, you should feel lucky if I don't wake you up in the middle of the night," Elliot grinned happily.
He knew nothing had been settled, perhaps they were simply in the eye of the storm, but as he held the love of his life in his embrace, he didn't care what he had to do, he would gladly face the wrath of hurricane Serena, as long as he had Olivia in his life.
