(humming the Gekiranger theme to myself as I look through some articles before noticing one) Hm? (looks through the article) Whoa, they're moving Season 2 of Dino Fury to Netflix? (looks at the camera) Then again it was inevitable. I mean the contract with Nickelodeon wasn't gonna last forever. And hey, maybe Hasbro will ditch the old ways Nick forced them into for the old days where seasons were actually good? We don't know for sure. Silver lining, I can catch up more next season through my mom's Netflix account. (squee) Anywhoozles, let's get this chapter rolling, because we're gonna be seeing an old technique brought back from Jungle Fury and possibly taught to the others later this season. Also, I may add in different viewpoints as we go on, so this won't be full Rowan. Now, let's see "Lost Signal". (flicks my fan open and holds it up)

Disclaimer: I don't own Power Rangers, as it is owned by Hasbro as of May 1, 2018.

Seeing as our first mission as Rangers was a success, I decided to go ahead and get back into the habit of doing some Pai Zhuq techniques over the next week because I never knew when they'd be handy. First item on my list: The Swoop Technique.

I learned the technique through RJ and Theo, as they had learned it from the master of the Bat Spirit himself, Master Swoop. It felt so relaxing to me because I didn't have to think about anything else while I was blindfolded. I just needed to let my other senses open up more. I could just listen to the beautiful sounds of the birds chirping, smell the fresh dew on the ground after the rain, and feel the gentle wind across my skin all day long as I trained... well, if I wanted to.

Suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder, my instincts prompting me to grab the person and judo flip them to the ground with a battle cry escaping my mouth. I heard a familiar groan of pain, quickly removing my blindfold to see... Ollie! "Oops! Dios, mio, I'm so sorry about that, Ollie!" I helped him to his feet quickly and dusted him off.

"Your dad teach you that one?" He looked at me.

I backed up quickly. "Uh, just a... few judo lessons... here and there." I brushed my hair back. "Uh, part of extreme training."

He nodded a bit. "How'd you know I was behind you anyway?"

"I didn't, because I was blindfolded." I explained. "The Swoop Technique allows me to use my other senses in battle."

He thought it over before nodding. "That would make sense. Who knows if we'll go up against a Sporix Beast who can utilize sight against us?"

I nodded. "Exactly, cause I've been thinking: I noticed the last Sporix Beast we fought was based on a unicorn, and I got a gut feeling we may be dealing with a Medusa type monster next time."

"Monsters based on mythical beasts..." He looked like he was pondering it all before nodding. "That is a rational conclusion."

I heard my communicator go off and quickly responded. "Go ahead."

"Something just came up on the galactic communication system. Perhaps you could help with it, Rowan." Solon spoke from the base.

I nodded in response. "On my way." I nodded to Ollie as we both teleported down to the base, immediately going to Solon and starting to help her with the system, Zayto and Amelia coming down a couple minutes after.

"Zayto, we received a message from deep space. I don't have Rafkon's exact coordinates, but it comes from the same galactic quadrant." Solon told him excitedly.

"Really? So it could be from my people." Zayto sounded hopeful, which I couldn't blame him for. From what he told me, he had been missing Rafkon and his family there. I missed my mom just as much and if I were in his shoes, I'd want to know if my home planet was still alive out there as well.

I stopped Solon before she could play the message. "Hold on. What if the communicator's overloaded?" I didn't want to take any chances, so I started getting the message transferred to my computer's hard drive. "This is gonna take some time. I can't say how long though. Let's hope it's not too long."

Zayto nodded and smiled. "As long as the message can be played, I'll be grateful."

Solon nodded. "I think you have the right idea, Rowan. Perhaps your technology could be able to decipher it."

Ollie nodded. "Meanwhile, we should try and find something to repair the intergalactic comm unit."

"Impossible." Solon told him sadly. "Every component of the device came from Rafkon."

"So we're back to square one." Amelia was worried before she perked up. "Wait, Madam Indigo can help us decipher the message too. She's a psychic. She does everything: fortune telling, palm reading, even mystical communication."

Zayto looked at her curiously. "You really think this psychic can tell us what the message is?"

I made a face at Amelia's idea. I knew the Mystic Force Rangers were absolutely real magicians and they could probably see something better than any old psychic, even and especially Nick.

Ollie seemed to follow my train of thought to an extent as he had a better idea: "Psychics are ridiculous. What you need is science. Mom knows a guy at the observatory. They probably picked up the signal."

I nodded. "I could also ask my dad's friends about the message. I know a few Rangers who are aliens like Zayto, so maybe one of them could have also intercepted the message." It was true that Dad and Dr. O had a few friends who were aliens and leaders or mentors of their respective Ranger teams, so that could be a huge advantage. Plus, Dad would have the chance to meet the team fully, so bonus points there.

"We'll try all of them." Zayto suggested. "Let's start with the psychic."

Amelia gave me and Ollie a smug smile as we relented, both me and him looking at each other with equal disdain at the psychic idea as he asked the question: "Who's gonna waste fifteen bucks on a psychic?"

I shook my head. "Just so you guys know, there are some psychics and magicians who are genuine. Ask Nick Russell and his buddies." I got my computer closed up and headed into a secluded section of the base, sitting down and watching the message continue to download.

After the others had teleported out, Solon walked over to me. "Rowan, you speak of the Power Rangers as if they existed after the Dino Fury team."

I looked at her and sighed, scooting over a bit. "That's because they do exist still. The earliest known Ranger after Zayto's team that I know of is a caveman whose name is Koda. He found his power source, a gem called an Energem before he saved his little brother Tako from a Sabertooth Tiger. In doing so, the Energem gave him the power of the Stegosaurus and preserved him for over 100,000 years before his team found him in the modern day. Dad told me about a lot of Ranger teams, even the ones he was a part of." I had my sleeves rolled up today, showing off my Master's Stripes.

Solon nodded. "So you're a Ranger who is continuing a legacy."

I nodded. "Yeah. I'm not the only one either. There are others who have their own legacies to pass on. My Pai Zhuq master Casey Rhodes and his wife Kenya, Quantum Time Force Ranger Eric Myers and his wife Taylor, who was Wild Force Yellow, and others. Even Dr. Oliver has had a couple of kids. A young girl with his old flame Kimberly Hart, and a young boy with his current wife Katherine Hillard. Both Talia and JJ are gonna continue a legacy in their own ways respectively."

I hung out with my other friends, the Ranger Kids, every year at the annual Ranger picnic in Angel Grove where any of the Rangers who could make it with their families hung out for a day of casual get-together activities and shared whatever techniques they had learned to make themselves stronger. It was great to talk with the others and catch up on whatever everyone else was up to.

Solon bowed her head slightly. "You must be very proud to be a Ranger child."

I nodded a little. "Sometimes my pride gets the best of me though... I haven't learned to tone that down yet. But... I'm also not ready to tell the others about this."

Solon nodded in understanding, placing a hand on my shoulder. "I understand, Rowan. I'd be glad to help you keep this under wraps until you're ready."

I smiled at Solon gratefully, glad to have her on my side and willing to help me focus more on helping the others.

Suddenly, my communicator beeped, signaling that the others must have just gotten done with Madame Indigo. I picked up the comms. "How'd it go?"

"We didn't get any luck. Ollie was right. Madame Indigo really isn't that much of a psychic." Amelia reported.

I nodded. "You guys should have talked with me about it first. I know Rangers on the magical side of things and the scientific side of things."

Amelia made a face. "Can you believe Ollie called me 'honey muffin'? I almost threw up in my mouth."

"Same here. I had to fight to make sure I didn't puke all over the place." Ollie spoke up in the background.

I snickered a bit before hearing the computer beep. "Oh, I think my laptop has the message uploaded to it."

"Good, make sure you get a copy done. We're headed for the observatory next." Zayto told me.

"Got it. Good luck at the observatory." I hung up and started making the message copy, downloading it to a flash drive I had brought with me earlier. "And done."

Just as soon as I said that, the Ranger Hotline beeped. "Jeez, not a moment too soon." I picked up the line. "Greetings, you've reached the Yellow Ranger."

A voice I recognized as similar to Jane's responded: "Hello, Yellow Ranger. This is J-Borg. THERE'S A SPORIX BEAST!!!"

My eyes widened, but I kept my cool as I told her: "Get out of the vicinity immediately, my team and I are on our way." I hung up and commed the team. "Sporix Beast reported on the Hotline, guys! It's near the town center! I'm coming up there!" I looked at Solon, handing her the flash drive. "Keep that safe until I'm back for it?"

"Of course, Rowan. Now go!" Solon nodded as she took the drive from me.

I nodded and teleported to the others, landing in front of the new Sporix Beast as Mucus got a surprise. "Rangers! No!"

"Give up! You're surrounded!" Zayto told the Beast.

I nodded. "You're not gonna run that far while we're here!"

"I'm so scared!" Vypeera said with falsehood in her voice before she covered the eyes on her chest. "Look! You can see the fear in my eyes!" She uncovered them as energy surged from them, causing me to stumble back and become frozen in place.

(Ollie's POV)

"No!" Zayto was definitely alarmed when he saw Rowan frozen.

"Rowan! She's frozen!" Amelia was terrified of what had just happened, but I understood immediately, remembering the conversation I had earlier with Rowan.

"It's the eyes on her chest. Like Medusa turning her opponents into stone!" I spoke up before looking at the other two, raising my arm to shield my eyes. "Don't look at them!"

I saw them raise their arms as well, protecting their eyes. At least they got the message.

I heard Vypeera laugh as she slashed at Rowan, sending our teammate to the ground before she spoke to us. "So you've figured me out! But if you can't see, you can't fight!"

"If we can't see..." Just muttering that to myself gave me an idea, tossing a pink and red blindfold to Amelia and Zayto respectively before I got a blue blindfold on, making sure I had enough room to see my morpher. "Yeah? We'll take that challenge."

Zayto caught on and got his blindfold on, as did Amelia before we all did the morph. "It's Morphin' Time! Dino Fury Key, Activate! Link to Morphin' Grid!"

Once we had our suits on, I took a deep breath and focused on using my hearing and my sense of touch to tell what was going on, like Rowan had told me before with her Swoop Technique. "You'll pay for hurting our friend!"

"Not if I do the same to you!" Vypeera charged at me, but I could hear her footsteps charging from a Northwestern direction. Instinctively I stepped to the southeastern side and slashed at her, making direct contact.

Vypeera definitely hit the ground because I could hear her angry tone: "How?!"

I heard the other two gathering around me as I spoke to Vypeera. "Against you, there's no need for sight! Only a need for noise!" I didn't notice, but I had a feeling Rowan was proud of me for taking her advice.

Amelia turned my way. "Of course! Considering those powers, eyesight would only be a bonus!"

"Not a necessity." Zayto agreed with her, following her train of thought.

I smirked a bit. "We can thank Rowan for this lesson. Now what say we use our remaining senses to our advantage?" I took a battle stance, the others following suit.

"Curse you! Once I'm done with you three, I'll slaughter that brat!" Vypeera shouted as she charged at us, but we scattered and started fighting her blind, doing well with what we knew now.

I suddenly heard Mucus talking with Vypeera. "Hey, creepy snake lady! I've got a fab idea! Let's get out!" My hearing picked up their teleportation, giving us the clue to demorph and remove our blindfolds.

Amelia sighed in relief. "I hate fighting blind."

"But it worked." I smiled brightly, going to Rowan and helping her up. "I gotta admit, Ro, your words of wisdom really helped out."

Rowan couldn't help but smile proudly, that kinda adorable blush of hers coming back. "That's what I get for listening in my Pai Zhuq classes."

Zayto nodded. "You definitely need to teach us some moves you know."

Rowan held her shoulder in pain. "Vypeera's definitely dangerous. When I was looking at her, I couldn't move."

Amelia nodded. "We know two things. One: Rowan's techniques worked against Vypeera. We'll probably need to employ them later. Two: The Ranger Hotline is a success. If Vypeera comes back, we'll know next time."

"That gives us time to go to the observatory and for Ro to call her allies, so we can figure out what that message said." I said in response.

Rowan looked at us. "I have the message downloaded to a flash drive and it's also on my computer. I'll be right back." She teleported to the base and returned a few seconds later with her computer and the drive, passing me the latter. "Bring that with you, okay?"

I nodded and took the drive. "We should split up to get better results. Zayto and I will head to the observatory. Amelia, you and Rowan head to her place."

Zayto nodded in agreement and we teleported out of the area to our locations.

(Amelia's POV)

I was eager to meet Rowan's dad, as she talked about him quite a bit, but she never had a chance to really introduce him to us.

Rowan went up to the door and opened it up, calling out. "Papì, I'm home!"

I watched her head around the house to look for him before getting curious and walking around the living room, taking notice of the photos she had on the walls. "Neat pictures."

One in particular I noticed was of Rowan with her dad and maybe two or three others I didn't recognize. A man with spiky black hair was smiling as he sat next to a blonde woman, a young boy who looked similar to the woman but with his father's eyes sitting on the woman's lap and smiling brightly.

"Those are my dad's old friends." I jumped at Rowan's voice, spinning around to face her with my hand on my chest.

"Jesus, Ro! You're gonna give me a heart attack!" I was feeling my heart pumping at almost a hundred miles an hour.

"Sorry." She laughed brightly, causing me to laugh with her.

She calmed down. "Anyway, I think my dad's out at his martial arts studio. So it's down to us."

I nodded a bit, a little bummed by the news, but still excited because she had promised that I'd be able to meet some family friends, so I joined her at the table and watched as she got her computer booted up and connected to a chat room.

Suddenly, a blonde haired boy I didn't know appeared on the screen, starting the chat up. "Hey, Rowan. What's up?"

Rowan waved to the blonde man. "Hey, Orion. Long time no see." She motioned to me. "This is my friend Amelia." She looked at me while motioning to the screen. "Amelia, this is one of the past Rangers, Orion. He's from the planet of Andresia."

I smiled brightly. "It's an honor to meet you."

Orion nodded to me. "I'm guessing you're the new Pink Ranger?"

I nodded and showed him my Dino Key. "Dino Fury Pink."

Rowan cleared her throat to redirect the conversation. "Anyway, gotta ask, Orion: Did you or any of the other past Rangers and mentors from alien worlds pick up any kind of foreign message from a planet called Rafkon? Anything at all?"

Orion nodded. "Yeah, actually. The Lion Galaxy is near Rafkon's home system. Mick picked up the transmission when he was tracking down the Nexus Prism from his ship."

I saw Rowan's confusion. "Why would Mick be following the Prism? Isn't it supposed to be in Summer Cove? Or somewhere around there?"

The Ninja Nexus Prism? Wasn't that how the Ninja Steel team had gotten their abilities? I had more questions than answers at that point, but Orion interrupted my train of thought with his next sentence: "He's tracking it to Pine Ridge. Says he thinks it's got a new mission. Either way, he managed to get the message transferred to you guys and judging by this call, I'm guessing you got it and want to translate it."

Rowan nodded calmly. "Our team leader, Zayto, is the Rafkonian who wants to know what the message says."

Orion seemed to catch the meaning. "Gotcha. I'll see what I can translate. Might take a couple of hours though."

I nodded to him. "Take your time. Believe me, we got our own monster problems."

Rowan nodded in agreement. "Let us know when you got it done."

"You got it." Orion signed out of the chat as both us girls sighed and looked at each other.

"Well, at least we got something." I shrugged a bit. It wasn't much, but it was something.

Rowan nodded a bit. "Hopefully we'll have some answers for Zayto soon."

I got a message on my phone and looked at it. "That's weird. BuzzBlast's feed is down. Stan needs my help." I looked at her. "Let's go check it out."

She nodded and sent a message about our luck to the boys before we got up and teleported to shadiest area outside of the BuzzBlast building, running inside once we got there.

I went to Stan as soon as we were in. "What's wrong?"

"We're at full power and our internet connection is fine, but our broadcast doesn't come up." He told me worriedly.

Rowan seemed to have a contemplative look on her face. "Do you think something is interfering with the broadcast?"

He shrugged. "Not sure."

Suddenly, we looked at a screen as it started flickering on. "Something's happening."

Rowan noticed the figure that was forming and gasped. "It's the Sporix Beast!"

"People of Pine Ridge, look into my eyes! You will all be frozen!" Vypeera uncovered the eyes on her chest as the energy surged out.

"Yikes!" I got my eyes covered, as did Rowan, but everyone else in the building was affected and frozen. "This isn't good! There's T.V.s all over the city that are probably playing this!"

"We have to get out of here!" Rowan spoke to me as I nodded, the two of us making headway to the doors while avoiding eye contact with any screens.

As soon as we made it out, we saw that everyone who was on their phones or computers were being frozen by Vypeera's video loop. "Oh boy. Any ideas?"

Rowan grabbed my blindfold and tied it over my eyes before she did the same to herself, talking as she did so: "We need to get back to the base and get a plan together. I hope Zayto and Ollie haven't been frozen by now, but if they are, maybe Solon will help them."

I nodded and got my morpher ready, but before I did anything, I heard two voices over all the rest of the loops, stopping Rowan. "Wait! Do you hear that?"

Rowan must have followed my lead because I could hear her voice. "Yeah. Mucus and Vypeera are here. But where, I'm not sure. Take a deep breath and try focusing in on where you heard them, Amelia. That may give us a location of the source of the loops."

I nodded and took the deepest breath I could, exhaling slowly as I focused my hearing, the most minute details coming clearer, like a fly that was still buzzing about, the wind blowing next to my ears, and the ever present video loops. "Hmmm..." I kept my focus, waiting patiently.

Suddenly, I detected Mucus speaking and mentally followed the sound waves up to the top of BuzzBlast. "Got them. They're on the BuzzBlast roof."

"Great job!" Rowan definitely sounded impressed by my focus. "I definitely have to teach you guys more Pai Zhuq techniques after we beat Vypeera. For now though, let's get to the base and warn the boys."

I nodded and activated my teleporter again, getting us to the base where the message was playing even on the screens. "That's not good."

(Rowan's POV)

"That has to be turned off, Solon! Otherwise if the boys get here, they'll be frozen in place!" I ran over amd got the screen turned off, sighing in relief with Amelia as we heard the loop end and we got our blindfolds off just as the boys came in and got their blindfolds off.

"That was close." Ollie sounded just as relieved as we did.

"That video is streaming nonstop on BuzzBlast." Solon told us worriedly. "Anyone watching could be frozen."

"Could be thousands of people." Zayto realized, Solon confirming it. "Yup."

"Wait, why didn't you freeze?" Ollie looked at Solon curiously.

"Must be my cyborg eyes. I guess her power doesn't affect me." She mused a bit.

"Like with earlier when we fought blind." Zayto remembered well. "The blindfolds protected us from being frozen, but we could still fight by listening to her voice."

Solon nodded. "For now, we need to find the source of that video."

"Luckily, Ro and I know exactly where it's broadcasting from." Amelia spoke up proudly. "She helped me hone in my senses and listen for any voices out of the ordinary." She walked over and punched in the coordinates. "It's on the BuzzBlast rooftop."

"We need a way to fight Vypeera, maybe without our sight." Zayto spoke up.

I smiled a bit. "Thankfully, you got little old me to teach you a few things." I crossed my arms, my Master's Stripes showing a bit.

As quickly as I could, I gave the group some pointers about fighting blind: Focus on your target, move as fluidly as you would when fighting normally, and using your sense of hearing to be the best advantage in this kind of fight.

Once the mini lesson was over, we all got our blindfolds back on and teleported to the BuzzBlast roof, giving Mucus and Vypeera a start.

"Ha! You look like you're about to crack open a piñata!" Vypeera taunted us.

"Yeah, and that piñata is you, señorita!" I shot back, holding my saber at the ready.

"Too easy!" Vypeera ran at us, but I blocked her with a well placed slash, hearing Mucus disappear quickly

We all started handling Vypeera as a team, all four of us doing well now and more easily knocking her down before we readied a group attack. "Chromafury Slash!" Our attacks went in respectively colored energy arcs and destroyed Vypeera's video loop.

"No! My video was just going viral!" She shouted sadly.

"Virally popular ain't all it's cracked up to be, trust me." Amelia quipped as I nodded, knowing exactly what she meant.

"If I can't freeze you, I'll just destroy you!" Vypeera ran off the side of the building and jumped down, growing giant as she did so.

We heard her laughter and looked over, seeing her turn giant as we removed our blindfolds.

"Oh yikes. That's one massive Medusa." Amelia said worriedly.

"Definitely Zord time." I looked to Zayto, who immediately called Solon.

"Solon, are the Tricera and Ankylo Zords ready?" He asked.

"Almost. I'll send out the T-Rex and Dragon Zords while they boot up." She promised us.

"Our Zords! Yes!" Amelia was definitely ecstatic, but now wasn't the time to celebrate.

"Zayto and I will keep Vypeera distracted." I told Ollie and Amelia before the four of us readied ourselves. "Link to Morphin' Grid!" One instant morph after, Zayto and I got our auxiliary Keys out and summoned the Zords' battle modes, teleporting in and linking up for battle.

"Zayto, keep your eyes closed and trust your hearing! There's no time for giant blindfolds!" I told him over the comms, squeezing my own eyes shut.

The two of us started fighting Vypeera, holding her off well enough, but we weren't strong enough.

Suddenly, the Tricera Blade Zord and Ankylo Hammer Zord arrived and struck Vypeera, giving me and Zayto a chance to get some distance and watch Amelia and Ollie cover the Beast's eyes.

"Good work, guys! She can't freeze us now!" Zayto told them before he spoke to the two. "Let's finish her together! Throw your Keys towards the Zords!"

I watched the Zords combine like Legos, becoming the Dino Fury Megazord. "Alright! What say we handle Vypeera together with both Megazords?"

"Heck yeah!" "Count me in!" Ollie and Amelia voiced respectively and together, we slashed and knocked Vypeera back.

"You're going down, Medusa!" I was fired up now as I grabbed my Mega Fury Saber and stood courageously. "Dragon Shogun Zord: Mega Saber Blitzkrieg!" I slashed in tandem with the others and spun around as I swung my blade down. "Never mess with a Ranger Kid."

This time as Void Knight came to collect the Cell, we got to it first as I stepped forward and raised my saber to him. "I don't know what you want with these cells, but I will find out and I'll make sure we stop you!" With that, we teleported out.

Back at the base, I got back on the call with Orion, getting the translated message from him and getting it loaded in the modulator. "Let's get this rolling."

Zayto smiled. "I'm just glad you've got friends in great places, Rowan."

Amelia nodded to me. "No doubt. So many Rangers out there that none of us knew about."

Ollie smiled. "I had no idea that there were aliens who were mentors to other Rangers or even Rangers themselves."

I nodded. "You'd be really surprised by who all I know." I got the message uploaded and sighed. "Here we go." I played the message and... it sounded like a robot speaking. I couldn't really understand it, but I wrote down what I could pick up.

"I can speak millions of languages, but I don't know that one... or French." Solon admitted sheepishly. "French is tough."

"So is German." I reassured her before looking at what I got from the chirps in the message. "Hmm... it's hard to say, but... I think it's a call to see if there are survivors of the Sporix attacks."

"Could it really be from Rafkon?" Amelia pondered curiously.

"I'm not sure. I don't know it either." Zayto said, but he didn't seem too saddened by it.

"Languages can change a lot over millions of years." Solon reminded us. "It could be from Rafkon."

"I did pick up the name Aiyon in the message." I mentioned to them, seeing Zayto perk up a bit. "Does that sound familiar?"

Zayto nodded. "He was one of my fellow knights. If that was from Rafkon, then there's a good chance whoever that was is looking for the Knights of Rafkon. I'm not gonna give up." He looked at us. "Now that this is fixed, I can do more than just listen to messages. I can send my own." He started creating his own message. "Greetings. This is Zayto, leader of the Dino Fury Power Rangers speaking to you from the planet Earth. 65 million years ago, I left Rafkon. I'd give anything to know if anyone is still there. Please send me a signal. I'll be waiting."

Wow, what an emotional episode. Zayto was really going through a lot in this canon-wise and I could see why. Anyway, Rowan revealed her secret to Solon and helped the others by using some of her knowledge from Pai Zhuq. Also next episode will be the introduction of Izzy and Javi into the team and Rowan shows a bit of affection towards Javi as they're gonna be my pairing for this, along with maybe another guy pairing with my Rafkonian OC, and she's coming in later. I'll probably make her Aiyon's sister to make it a little similar to Ryusoulger, but not too much. I have several other Ranger Kid OCs for different seasons lined up including Dino Charge, Ninja Steel, Megaforce, and Beast Morphers, and I've also got an idea for Kenya, my Jungle Fury OC. So let me know what y'all would wanna see in the comments!
