(humming as I get my stuff ready, looking at the camera) Hey, guys. Don't mind me. I just got word from the technical institution I enrolled in months ago that I finally have a spot to make it into. About damn time, I say. I've pushed through this for five years now, since I turned 18 and graduated high school. Not to mention all the crazy crap I went through; COVID-19, trying to handle a job and having some issues that I don't want to talk about honestly, depression and mental trauma that I'm still getting counseling for today, and so on. It's gonna be good for me to get out there and finally study what I want to do, the culinary world. Of course, I still gotta wear a mask around the area, but it's a small price to pay. Anyway, because of these news, I'm gonna try and get out Episodes 6-8 earlier than usual so I can be less worried. So "Superstition Strikes", where Amelia has a round of bad luck. I think I know the perfect alumni Ranger to bring in for this one. No spoilers though! Just read and see! (waves my Mystic Morpher) Mysto Lettrius! (creates the Disclaimers)

Disclaimer: I don't own Power Rangers, as it is owned by Hasbro as of May 1, 2018.

(Rowan's POV)

"~In the dusty basement where we met, may you surprised me so much, because you're talking now...~" The music to one of my more favorite animes blasted through my earbuds as I was doing some training; After the battle against Brineblast, I realized that I needed to become more limber with my body because even if I was recovering on my training, I still needed to do some cardio and gymnastics to help my body recover more from the blow I had taken against Boomtower while protecting the Nephrite Orb.

I flipped through the air, landing on a branch and hopping down with a front flip, catching a branch before I swung upside down and did upside down splits, swinging myself into a backflip and catching another branch quickly where I hung for a few moments before dropping down, landing in a tumble.

I suddenly heard the clapping from my team, which caused me to look around at them in surprise. "Uh, how long..."

"The whole time." Izzy smiled at me. "You're pretty dang good, girl! You should be an Olympic medalist!"

I shrugged as I turned my music off and got my earbuds out. "That's not really my speed. I just do it for fun." Sure, my friend Talia had taught me gymnastics and I incorporated my parkour into it, but I really wasn't all that much for showing myself off, as much as I've stated before.

Suddenly, a call in from the Ranger Hotline sounded off. "Never fails." I teleported us to the scene and looked around curiously. "Hm? That's odd."

"I don't see anything." Zayto agreed with me; maybe it was a false alarm?

"Let's keep looking because otherwise I gotta finish my homework." Izzy suggested.

I snickered a bit before looking around as I heard some cans clatter and ran towards the clatter, the others following suit.

Rounding a corner, we saw a bunch of suds in the area and ran over to the monster in question, which got me confused as I tilted my head. "Uh... this don't look like any monster I've ever seen. Seems more like someone has a case of bad luck. One second, sir." I walked over to the nearby van and grabbed a hose from the back, turning the water on with Amelia's help and we washed the sudsy goon off to reveal an older man.

"Pop-Pop?" Amelia ran over to the man as we joined her, me smiling a bit as I said to myself: "Called it."

Amelia's grandfather got down from the ladder and looked at her. "Thanks, kiddo. Had a little bit of a whoopsie there with the old soap suds. Just been doing some window washing." He then caught sight of the rest of us. "Are you kids Amelia's new friends? She won't stop talking about ya! I'm Pop-Pop!" He gave Zayto a hug before shaking Ollie's hand.

Amelia looked at the others who were confused. "He does handiwork around town, and apparently at BuzzBlast."

"That's a lot of windows to clean by yourself." Javi noted.

Amelia looked at Pop-Pop. "Maybe we can give you a hand?"

I smiled eagerly. "Yeah, I mean my dad wants to see me working with my new friends better and this is the perfect opportunity."

Pop-Pop chuckled a little and said in a not-so-subtle tone, "If an old timer like me can handle cleaning Amelia's bedroom..." That alone got a snicker out of all of us, save for Amelia.

"Hey, that was years ago. I clean my own room now." Amelia said casually.

Pop-Pop seemed to be reminiscing though. "Feels like it was yesterday."

I could see why he would be cleaning his own granddaughter's room for a while. I was pretty messy as a kid myself and Dad always cleaned up after me.

Pop-Pop cleared his throat. "Anyway, I can deal with a few dirty windows. It's only two stories."

I raised an eyebrow, knowing the architecture of the building was way too high for two stories as Ollie confirmed my thoughts: "Actually, it's three stories."

Pop-Pop pushed the boys back dramatically. "That's much bigger than I remember."

Zayto smiled at him. "Really, we'd love to help."

Pop-Pop nodded. "Okay then. Grab those sponges."

We scattered to grab some sponges before I heard Pop-Pop shout, "NO! THE LADDER!"

I looked over sharply and saw that Amelia had walked under the ladder, immediately gasping in worry. "Ay caramba!"

Amelia looked over and got nervous as well. "Oh no. I walked right under it."

Izzy wasn't as tuned in as Amelia and I were with superstition. "What's wrong?"

Pop-Pop was in a fluster. "Oh, you walk under a ladder, you have bad luck."

I nodded nervously. "It's the same with black cats crossing your path or even having something that lands on the number 13. Malo suerte."

Zayto was absolutely confused. "Bad luck? Why?"

"No one knows why, you just do." Pop-Pop said. "I walked under a ladder as a boy, then my hamster had a headache, my grandpa lost all his teeth, and two months later, I had a bad case of chicken pox! Ooh, it was so itchy!"

I nodded as I remembered the stories from the Hartfords. "Even Mack had a lot of bad luck coming at him in one day after a run in with something super unlucky." I knew that a monster had caused his bad luck, but it was better for Pop-Pop not to know that.

Ollie wasn't buying it. "Two months? You can't be serious."

"We're not joking, Ollie!" Amelia tried to defend herself, but it was useless.

"Oh come on. That makes no sense." Ollie walked over. "There's no such thing as bad luck." Dang stubborn headed idiot.

"Do you always have to be such a-" Amelia gasped as she got cut off by her sweater ripping on the sleeve.

I winced slightly. "Yikes! Looks like it's already starting!"

Pop-Pop threw his hands up in agreement. "Your bad luck's already starting!"

Amelia started home, but Ollie said oh so condescendingly, "Careful with cracks in the pavement. And don't cross a black kitty cat's path."

That got my temper boiling as I stormed over and smacked his face hard. "IT'S NOT FUNNY, OLLIE!! BAD LUCK IS A REAL THING!! I KNOW PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN CURSED BY IT!!"

Ollie looked up at me with pain in his expression, but his disbelief was still there. "Oh yeah? I bet you carry a rabbit's foot with you at all times."

That tore it for me. "Why you little...!" I jumped at Ollie again as Izzy and Javi had to hold me back while I spewed out Spanish profanities that aren't applicable for this story, but what I didn't realize until too late was that my thrashing legs had kicked a bucket of soapy water into the air, the water falling out and splashing Amelia.

I cringed massively as the others looked at Amelia in shock.

Amelia spat out some water, her hair dripping wet and her sweater soaked.

"Sorry, Amelia!" I hadn't meant to do that at all!

Amelia huffed slightly. "Okay. I'm gonna go home and change completely now." She turned and walked off.

(Amelia's POV)

Since stepping under that ladder, I was watching my steps now around all of the cracks and paths. "Careful, careful." Once I dodged all of the cracks, I sighed in relief before hearing a weird sound. "What on Earth?" I looked around and saw a Sporix Cell ready to spawn. "Are you kidding me? More bad luck?"

Yep; the Cell burst and out spawned a golem like Sporix Beast. "Wanna fight? That would be easy peasy."

"Maybe for one of us: me!" Bad luck or no, this would be good to handle a Sporix. "It's Morphin' Time!" I did my instant morph and jumped into the fray, starting to fight him.

"You won't be so feisty when I blow your helmet right off!" The Beast tried to strike back, but I kicked him and landed a little bit away.

"Just try it!" I barely dodged a blast from him at that moment. "Okay, maybe I shouldn't have-" I got cut off again as the next blast sent me into the air and landing hard, rolling on the ground and demorphing with smoke coming from my morpher. Nevertheless, I tried to call Solon. "I need backup ASAP!"

The Morpher sparked as Solon's voice came through, but it was breaking up! "Ugh, my Morpher's history!"

No time to think about that as the Beast shot a trash can on the table near me and I dodged it while he came forward. "Peekaboo! I see you!" I was in major trouble!

Suddenly, Rowan teleported in and deflected another blast back at the Beast with her Saber since she was already morphed before she turned to me. "You okay, Amelia?"

I nodded quickly as I got up. "Yeah. Thanks for that." I showed her the still smoking morpher. "My Morpher's trashed thanks to that creep though."

She thought for a moment before pulling out a rabbit's foot keychain. "I always carry a couple with me for extra luck." She placed it in my hand.

I nodded gratefully. "At this rate, I could use the extra luck." I clipped the keychain to my pants and got ready to fight as best I could.

The others quickly ran over and got in battle stances as well as Zayto spoke to Smashstone. "Nice try getting at one of our teammates! Time to turn the tables!"

"Good luck with that!" Smashstone came at us and we started battling him, having trouble because of how tough he was. But my bad luck kept coming as my damaged Morpher was blasted off my wrist and landed nearby, with Smashstone knocking us back not a moment later.

Mucus had teleported in and grabbed the morpher. "Ooh, this'll be a big help!"

I refocused on Smashstone and saw him about to attack again, but then something crazy happened: A pair of clamps from another weapon grabbed him and launched him away!

We looked up to see a whole different Red Ranger standing protectively in front of us, his helmet looking almost like it was modeled after a vehicle while his suit was red on either side and white straight down the middle to his boot and glove cuffs, which were silver while his boots and gloves were a red that matched his helmet.

The new Ranger turned to us and offered me a hand. "Looks like you need some help."

I smiled and nodded. "Definitely. Thanks, mister." I took his hand and got up, standing readily once again.

Mucus ran over to Smashstone amd gave him a pat on the back. "Don't worry, hotshot! We got what we needed! I'll bring you to my master now!" The two immediately teleported away from us.

We sighed in relief before Ollie looked at the other Red. "Thanks. We could have almost had some major problems. But... who are you?"

The Ramger turned to face us, demorphing to reveal a man who looked about in his late twenties and had curly brown hair, green eyes, and a pretty charming smile. "Name's Mackenzie Hartford, and I'm the Red Overdrive Ranger."

"Mack!" Rowan demorphed as she suddenly plowed through me and Javi, tackling Mackenzie or Mack in a big hug.

Mack hugged her back and laughed brightly. "Should have figured you'd be on this team, Rowan."

The rest of us demorphed, curious about this guy as I frowned, knowing I recognized his name from somewhere, but then I recognized the name on the crate J-Borg came in. "Hey, Mack. Your dad wouldn't happen to be working with robotics, would he?"

He looked over at me and nodded. "Yep. In fact, my dad's a skilled inventor in his own right and he's the one who made my old team's tech, right down to the Zords."

Zayto seemed really impressed. "Wow. I had no idea so many other people tapped into the Morphin' Grid."

Mack nodded. "You'd be surprised by how many of the previous Rangers also made things for.their teams. Even allies like Haylee Ziktor made gadgets and everything. Speaking of which, I think your ally may need to make you a new morpher, Miss Pink."

I sighed. "Yeah, I guess. And it's Amelia, by the way."

Rowan nodded. "Yeah, uh, complete introductions are due once we get to the base." She teleported us back to Dinohenge quickly.

(Rowan's POV)

Once I introduced Mack to my friends and we started discussing the issue, we figured out that the Sporix Beasts having the damaged Morpher would be a problem.

Amelia looked at the rest of the team. "With Mack here, there's less worry about bad guys getting in here. You guys should go and get back to Pop-Pop. More than likely he filled the place with soap suds again."

The others shared a laugh as they teleported away, leaving me, Solon, and Mack to keep Amelia company.

Mack turned to look at Amelia. "So I heard you're going through a round of bad luck."

Amelia sighed heavily. "Yeah. And because of it, the team nearly got decimated."

Solon looked at her. "Sounds pretty bad. But is it always as bad as you think, Amelia?"

Amelia looked at her in confusion. "What do you mean?"

"Well, I've heard that sometimes the worst luck can bring out the best outcomes." Solon admitted.

"She's right." Mack admitted from where he was helping Solon. "Rowan already knows this story, but back in my days as a Ranger, I was fighting this monster who altered luck and gave me a real bad case of rotten luck. But thanks to my friends and their lucky charms, I made my own luck in order to beat down the monster and turn the tables on him."

Amelia nodded and smiled. "Sounds like it was worth it."

I nodded as I placed a hand on her shoulder. "We all have our off days, Amelia. But it doesn't matter if we have bad luck or good luck. What matters is if we choose to change it for the better or worse."

Amelia nodded, seeming to understand. "I think I get it. But... I don't know how it's gonna help the team in the long run."

Mack thought it over before he looked at me. "Hey, Rowan. Switch with me for a little bit. I think I got an idea."

I nodded and walked over, helping Solon as I watched Mack explaining his rational about how some bad luck would work out for better, like when he had to escape a falling crane by morphing. In a way, I was kinda glad that Mack had come around. He had more experience with being a nonbeliever in luck before he actually had a taste of it, figuratively speaking, so he may just give Amelia a good mood for when we headed back up there.

Solon looked at me. "Seems like the old Rangers certainly have fantastic stories to tell."

I looked at her and nodded. "Yeah. You should hear some more of Mack's stories. He wasn't human before, after all."

"Oh. Was he an android, perchance?" She asked curiously.

"He was. But when he was shut down by all the power he used up when destroying Flurious, the Sentinel Knight used the Corona Aurora to restore him and turn him human." I nodded slightly. I had met Tyzonn during one of the Ranger picnics and he had told me every detail of the final battle between the Overdrive Rangers and Flurious.

"Hmm..." Solon and I got the final piece in place before we went to Amelia, who looked to be in higher spirits now thanks to swapping some stories with Mack.

"Good news, Amelia! The new morpher is ready to rock!" I told her as Solon passed it over.

Amelia nodded and got it on, sighing softly. "But what if I screw up again?"

"Look, Amelia. You're having a bad day, but that doesn't necessarily mean you're jinxed. Luck isn't measured or sized up. It's all in here, in your mind." Solon tapped Amelia's forehead. "And it affects the way you see things. You're miserable because you're thinking about the bad things. But there are good things too. You're just not seeing them."

Mack nodded. "Even I changed my perspective after that bad luck day I had. Point is, you have a perceptive mind. Bad or good, it won't matter how you choose to see them. As long as you choose something different."

"And the only way you'll see things positively is if you get your tough little backside out there and look, girl." I finished their thoughts, smiling at the Pink Ranger.

Amelia smiled a bit. "Yeah, I guess you're right."

Suddenly, Zayto came on the comms. "Amelia, Rowan! Where are you two? We're under heavy fire!" He got blasted as the comms went offline.

"Oh, that's not good." I muttered quietly.

Suddenly, Boomtower teleported into the base! "Surprise!"

Mack, Amelia, and I got into defensive stances to protect Solon as he spoke from my left: "And it just got worse."

"Wait, what?! Two Rangers in the base?! Wasn't expecting this one!" Boomtower got ready to fight.

Mack smirked. "Three actually, if you count me, the veteran Ranger."

Amelia frowned. "Should've destroyed my damaged Morpher when we had the chance so they couldn't get in!"

"This is no time for bad luck talk, Amelia!" I snapped, now in my leader state. "Let's power up!" I got my Key ready as did Amelia, while Mack grabbed his Morpher and spun it skillfully, catching it and flicking the top open.

"Link to Morphin' Grid!" "Overdrive Accelerate!" The three of us got suited up as quickly as possible before we started going to town on Boomtower, knocking him away from the Sporix Cells and Solon before Amelia and I teleported him, Mack, and us out of the base and to the others' location.

"Boomtower? Did you get lost?" Smashstone saw us.

"They tricked me!" Boomtower threw us all off.

"Yep! And it was easy to do that to a total cannon brain like you!" I taunted Boomtower, which got the desired outcome as he chased me down the road, Ollie chasing after us while Amelia and Mack joined the others in handling Smashstone.

(Amelia's POV)

I never thought I'd have the honor of fighting alongside a Legendary Ranger, but fighting alongside Mack was great as we managed to knock Smashstone back.

"Get ready! This mountain's about to reach new heights!" Smashstone suddenly grew larger, as per usual with each Sporix Beast.

Mack looked at me. "Do they really grow on their own?"

I nodded. "You get so used to it after four battles."

He nodded and looked at the rest of us. "Alright, guys. I'm gonna help the other two. I'll let you guys handle the big one!" He ran after the others and that gave us the leeway needed as Zayto summoned his Zord and the four of us jumped in, linking up our sabers.

"Let's rock and roll!" Javi was ready, but to me and Izzy, we looked at each other and spoke in sync: "Cringe!"

"I've got a good one! Let's hit the rocks!" Zayto got us going as we punched Smashstone, getting knocked back ourselves.

"Bite Blast!" We attempted the Bite Blast on Smashstone, only for him to rebound it at us.

"Whoa! I don't think we could take another rebound like that!" I held steady in the cockpit, having had grabbed on to the console.

Smashstone wasn't gonna let up though as we had to block some attacks from him and take a few minor hits.

I started thinking quickly. "Okay, idea! Ankylosaurs have tough armor. Maybe we should try the Ankylo Formation!"

"Good thinking, Amelia!" Zayto nodded in agreement.

I quickly contacted Solon in response, pulling my auxiliary Key out. "Solon, send in the Ankylo Hammer and Tricera Blade Zords!" When I saw my Zord coming in with Ollie's Zord, I readied my Key. "Zords combine!" I launched the Key out to let Ankylo combine and Ollie and Rowan came in, linking up with their consoles. "Dino Fury Megazord: Hammer Formation!"

Rowan immediately contacted Mack down below. "Mack, if you're still with us out here, get your Zord ready! We're gonna need some Rube Goldberg styled reactions here!"

"Got it, Ro!" Mack responded quickly, giving us the prompt to stall Smashstone for a few minutes and holding him off well enough, but to no effect.

"Okay, let's switch out speed for brute force!" I thought everything over quickly.

Rowan got the signal in. "Not a moment too soon! Looks like Mack's set up outside! Hope you can swing a sledgehammer good!"

"Pop-Pop taught me how when I was a kid." I responded with a nod. "Sure, I smashed his finger, but maybe this'll go better!" We reeled back and smacked the pole to start the effect.

"Amelia!" Ollie looked ready to chide me again, but I held up my hand. "Wait for it..."

Like clockwork, the makeshift dominoes went down and sent Mack's Zord into a building that sent debris at Smashstone, blinding him and clogging up his blaster!

"Bingo!" I pumped my fist proudly. "Just like Mack taught me! Use the surrounding area to your advantage, even with whatever luck you've got!"

"Alright, his blaster's blocked!" Ollie was ecstatic about that. "Things just got a lot easier!"

"Mega Fury Saber!" Zayto called on the Saber and we got into position. "Dino Fury Megazord: Mega Hammer Slam!" We crushed Smashstone easily and destroyed him. "Dino Fury Victory!"

On the ground, Izzy wrapped a tentacle around the Cell and yanked it over to her hand, away from Boomtower.

Mack stepped forward and aimed his blaster at Boomtower. "Tell your master that whatever he's up to, you're in a losing battle!"

Boomtower just groaned and teleported away.

I smiled and crossed my arms. Another win for the Rangers.

(Rowan's POV)

After we returned and helped Pop-Pop finish the windows while Mack headed out to talk with my dad, Pop-Pop showed gratitude towards us as we packed up. "I can't thank you enough for all your help today. Sure saved these old bones a lot of grief."

"It was our pleasure, Pop-Pop." I smiled at him kindly.

"Yeah, I'm sure lucky my granddaughter has a lot of use... um, lovely friends." He chuckled and headed off

Zayto looked at Amelia. "Speaking of luck, your day sure turned around, huh?"

"Yep." Amelia stepped back. "I was in the right place at the right time to stop Boomtower from stealing Sporix from our base. And that incredible move in the Megazord? Based on a trick Mack taught me from a similar Rube Goldberg reaction."

"Some people call that good luck." Javi pointed out.

Amelia nodded. "Yeah. Luck can go both ways. When I was focusing on the bad luck, I was too anxious to do anything, even help you guys. But a wise dinosaur and a couple of fellow Rangers told me that the only way to move forward is to look for the good stuff. And they were right."

I blushed out of pride again, knowing exactly who Amelia was talking about.

But as Amelia walked to the front, Ollie followed her. "Wait, wait, wait. I can't believe you said something I actually agree with." He looked at us. "Guys, pinch me."

"Gladly." I stepped forward and pinched him, but Ollie dodged... only to break a mirror.

"Uh-oh." I cringed slightly. "Siete aƱos de mala suerte." I knew this wasn't just on me, but Ollie as well.

"Don't start. You just came to your senses." Ollie walked away from us, but Amelia was timing his movement until bad luck struck while backing up as I heard her say: "And three... two... one."

As soon as she said one, the stick Ollie had picked up knocked a bucket of soapy water on to his head, getting stuck as he tried to get it off.

"You okay under there?" I asked him nervously.

"Completely, totally fine." He stumbled towards the back but got knocked back towards me as Pop-Pop had opened the back to see what was going on.

"Whoa, whoa! Ollie, Ollie!" I quickly caught him and stumbled back as well, only to trip over another bucket and get tied up in some rope with him. "Aah!"

We tried to get free, only to trip into a carriage and roll down the hill and crash into some boxes as I landed on top of him.

Izzy laughed and got the bucket off Ollie's head while he sat up.

I realized what position me and him were in and blushed profusely. "Uh... did we upset by the laws of physics or something?"

"Yeah! What gives?" Ollie looked up at everyone else, who were looking at us with big smiles.

"Whatever it is, you can't blame bad luck!" Amelia told us, causing all of us to share a laugh, even if I was a beet red in the face from embarrassment.

There we go. A little bit of Rowllie shipping fodder. And it'll only grow from there. Also, since Mack had his own episode dealing with bad luck, I thought he'd be the best choice to help Amelia. Read and review, y'all!
