Chapter 19
As everyone left, Loona and Vortex waited until they got in the car to ask Cody about what Día gave him and what she said in his ear.
Once they closed their car doors, Loona asked, "What did Día say in your ear?"
"And what was that note she gave you?" Vortex added.
Cody pulled out the note and unfolded it, "It's an address. She said when we get to the hotel, summon a portal to that address. She and Summer want to talk about what they know."
Vortex nodded, "Okay, that'll work."
"Whatever helps," Loona said, starting the engine.
Then Cody's phone rang. When Loona saw Verosika's name on the screen, she rolled her eyes and groaned.
"Loona, come on. Don't be like that," Cody said before answering his phone, "Hey, Verosika. (Pause) Yeah, I'm okay. Everyone's okay. (Pause) No, Blitzo is not dead. (Pause) What? (Pause) You did? (Pause) Okay, listen, we're headed to a hotel right now. Once we get there, I'll summon a portal where you are so we can meet and talk. I'll explain more when we can talk face-to-face."
Ten Days Later
"You know what we need to do before we join I.M.P.? We need to give them a gift. Something that proves that we're capable," Kyo said.
"A gift? Like what?" Slade asked.
"Like someone that most would call 'untouchable.' Someone like Lord Drake. The demon lord from the Greed Ring."
Slade stopped and turned to his friend, "You want to go after the Mob King, Lord Drake?"
"Yeah, I know where he is. We kill him, take his body to I.M.P. It'll prove that we can take down anyone they want us to ice."
"You don't just want to kill Lord Drake because you don't like him?"
Kyo rolled his eyes with a sigh, "All right fine, I fucking hate the guy. He's a monstrous pig. A lying, sex-offending murderer. He's powerful. If we kill him, we'll do the world a huge favor and prove I.M.P. that we got skills. So, come on, let's get this bastard."
"Okay, let's kill this fucker. You bringing Tim in on this?" Slade asked.
"Yep, and three is all we'll need for this."
They didn't take long to find Lord Drake and his illegal drug and black market trade operation at a warehouse next to a shipping container yard. The guards outside the warehouse were demons in their human disguise, while the demon workers inside were not. Because of this, it was pointless for the three heroes to have theirs on. Lord Drake was a tall, strong shark demon with black tiger-like stripes matching his suit. He had short black hair combed back under his black and white fedora hat.
The Baphomet demon, Tim, had arrived through the portal. He was as big and as strong as Vortex. His human disguise was that of a big, tall, and strong white man with a white Viking's mohawk haircut. When he shed his human disguise, it revealed his Baphomet demon form. He had purple fur, white mohawk hair, four black horns, two on top of his head on both sides of his red flame candle and two on the sides of his head, and a bit of nine o'clock shadow on his face. He had turquoise-colored eyes and one red eye in between his eyes in the center. He wore red pants, a black and red blazer jacket, a dark purple T-shirt with a white satanic star, and an upside-down satanic cross around his neck.
"Hey, boys, what's up?" Tim greeted with a smile.
"Tim, great to see you, man," Kyo hugged him.
Tim turned to the Hellhound, "Slade. I'll be goddamn. It's been too long."
"Yeah, long time. Good to see you," Slade responded before hugging him.
Kyo shedded his human disguise to reveal his barn owl demon form. His black pants went well with his blue shirt under his black jacket that had red shoulders. He tightened his red scarf and adjusted his red gloves, ensuring his armored knee-high boots were in order. Slade looked at himself in the mirror and breathed a sigh. Then he shed his human disguise and watched it disappear in the blue and dark flames.
Slade took a minute to look at himself. His face, hands, legs, and most of his arms and face were white fur, but the rest were grey. His muscles and body were bigger and stronger than he thought in his Hellhound form. He gently felt his Hellhound ears and watched as he moved them around before he glanced at his tail.
"I forgot how red my eyes were as a Hellhound," Slade said out loud.
"The ladies would bang that before you offer to buy them a drink," Kyo complimented, pointing at Slade's reflection.
"Hmph . . . so how are we doing this? Quietly or going loud?"
"Which do you think?"
Slade scanned the area looking at the entrance, all the vehicles in the motor pool, the sky windows, and the abandoned cargo containers on the side.
"Okay, how about this? I sabotage the cars so they don't escape. You two go in loud from the front to get their attention while I go in quiet from behind," Slade said.
Kyo nodded, "I like that plan."
Tim flexed his arms and cracked his knuckles while giving a devilish smile, "Works for me."
Slade quietly snuck past the guards' line of sight. When he got to the motor pool, he snuck up to one guard, grabbed him, and snapped his neck, making a loud cracking sound. Slade pulled out the guard's knife and threw it at another guard's skull – he was dead before he hit the ground. One of the thug guards heard the thud from his fall and looked to see him lying down.
"Whoa, hey man, you okay?" the guard asked as he jogged over.
Slade got the jump on him. He tried to shoot Slade, but Slade grabbed his gun hand with one hand and his throat with the other. He held him up high, choking him as he broke his arm to get him to let go of the gun. He couldn't scream from his windpipe getting crushed. Slade dropped him as he was dead as a doornail with his eyes still open. Then three more guards came. Slade got behind them and pulled out his giant Honshu Boshin-style demonic toothpick knife. He stabbed one guard in the throat, tossed him aside, leaped forward and stabbed the second one in the back, threw him aside, and finally stabbed the last one in the heart as he turned around. Each guard left a pool of blood.
Slade planted IEDs under each car and had them set to explode as soon as the vehicles got up to speed. Tim roared like a wild beast and punched any demon guard he could reach. Each punch sent them flying with bloody broken skulls. He grabbed some guards and smashed them against the ground or on the side of the metal cargo containers making real bloody messes. For a big guy, he was incredibly quick as the guards screamed in terror while attempting to fire their guns at him and missing each round.
Kyo pulled out his demonic sickles and grinned a bloodthirsty smile as he leaped into action. Kyo was even faster than Tim as he zipped around, dodging bullets and slicing bastards with his sickles. He cut their throats so deep and cleanly that the blood sprayed like a loose garden hose. Kyo spun around, slicing and cutting guys up, almost dancing and busting some sweet moves. Sometimes he'd kick guys and send them flying. One guy had a MAC-10 submachine and aimed at Kyo, but he flew past him, sticking one blade through the chin out of the guy's mouth and the other in the forearm of his gun hand. As he squeezed the trigger, Kyo guided the line of fire into the other guards filling them with bullet holes and killing them. Then Kyo sliced the guy's head off, tossed it up, and kicked it like a soccer ball into a guy who tried throwing a frag grenade at them. He dropped it, and the grenade exploded, killing two other guys beside him.
Slade dashed through the warehouse punching and kicking each guard with blows that quickly broke their bones. He jumped up, crunched one guard with his Hellhound jaws, and threw him hard against the wall. One giant shark demon attacked Slade with a fire axe swinging it left and right, missing Slade each time. Slade uppercut him hard, sending him high in the air. Then Slade caught him by the leg and spun around in a twister, hitting other demons that came at him before throwing him all the way across the warehouse and slamming him into a metal crane as though he weighed as much as a stick. The crane's frame broke and collapsed on the giant shark demon crushing him. Another guard with a shotgun came at the Hellhound, slam-firing at him but missing as Slade leaped from one top railing to the next. When Slade landed behind him, he turned to shoot him, but he was out of ammo. Slade grabbed and violently ripped him half like Kratos from God of War. There was so much blood that you could taste the iron in the air. Slade grabbed an AK-103 rifle and several magazines before shooting at the other guards firing at him.
Lord Drake dashed to his panic room. Slade saw him running and tried to get after him, but there were asshole thugs in his way. He killed them as he went after Lord Drake. When he got to the panic room, he pressed the button to close the sliding bulletproof metal door. Slade grabbed a big metal table with one hand and threw it hard, flipping in the air as it landed in the gap between the door and the wall. Lord Drake panicked as he repeatedly pressed the button to close the door. The door creaked loudly as it cracked and bent the metal table. Slade grabbed a grenade and threw it into Lord Drake's panic room. He saw it and was narrowly able to escape the explosion.
Slade chased after him as he dashed toward the vehicles. Many of his hired thugs entered the cars and ditched their lord behind. Lord Drake yelled at them as they left, but then one by one, the vehicles exploded in enormous, incendiary blazes killing the bastards inside. Some of them were being burned alive as they screamed bloody murder. Lord Drake knew right away that all the other cars were rigged. So, he ran further into the warehouse toward the part that stored large boxes and crates full of demonic weapons and artifacts worth a lot of money. Lord Drake grabbed a demonic shield in one hand and the other a one-handed demonic broadsword with a black blade and red writing.
The sword Slade grabbed was a demonic great nodachi sword, but much more extensive, wider, thicker, and heavier. It was like a nodachi version of a great heavy sword, like the Kuga from Onimusha 3. The blade was black and blue with small sharp spikes on the back of the blade close to the guard and demonic symbols on the blade's sides. Between the guard and the blade was some round blue sphere that looked like an eye. The handle was long and thick with a spiral wrapping. At the end of the handle was a big metal loop with a small chain attached to a little blue gem. The deadly weapon looked heavy and challenging to use, but Slade handled it easily despite its size and length.
"Come on!" Lord Drake dared.
Slade got into a fighting stance as he gripped his sword. Lord Drake charged at him swinging his sword, but Slade jumped over him. Once he landed, Slade swung a hard blow at Lord Drake's shield. Their weapons clanged hard and fast against each other, with each impact rattling the surrounding tables, shelves, boxes, and even the walls. Kyo and Tim finished killing the guards around the warehouse and went to where Slade was.
Lord Drake swung his sword and shield before kicking Slade hard in the chest, sending him flying and hitting a metal shelf. Slade dropped his sword and didn't have time to get it as Lord Drake charged at him, roaring. Slade growled and snarled his Hellhound growl as he grabbed the shield, stopping it on impact. The shield was attached to Lord Drake's arm, so it held onto him as Slade used it to slam him against the walls and ground hard before throwing him against some metal cabinets. Before he was thrown, Lord Drake took a quick swing that hit Slade in the shoulder. The cut was deep, and Slade was bleeding from his shoulder. He pressed his hand against it and groaned in pain.
Then he growled angrily while baring his fangs. Keeping his eyes on Lord Drake, he grabbed his sword but got blood on the blue eye. His blood made the sphere glow bright blue as it absorbed the blood. The blue glow engulfed Slade's whole body giving him a fantastic blue, glowing outline and making his eyes glow blue. The gem at the end of the chain from the handle shined like a star.
"Whoa, dude, are you seeing this?" Tim asked.
"Oh hell yeah, I am," Kyo replied while recording with his phone.
Lord Drake clanged his sword against his shield while saying a spell to make the blade of his sword and shield erupt in flames. He charged at the warrior Hellhound. Slade zipped around the entire room as fast lightning. He was so quick that his body and sword left behind blue silhouette trails of blue light. Then in a split second, Slade did several slashes at Lord Drake before sliding in a striking pose like a samurai. Lord Drake froze for a long while until the slices in his body glowed brighter and brighter. Then Lord Drake laughed hysterically like an evil maniac before his body exploded. Little pieces of his body flew everywhere, but the only intact thing was his head.
Tim approached his Hellhound friend, "Sweet moves and nice sword!"
Slade stood up straight from his pose, "Thanks," He examined the sword and saw that it was an enchanted demonic sword, "This is a magic sword, isn't it?"
"Slade, that's a Blue Moon sword! If you give your blood to the sword, you can master its powers like the Moon Dance of Death!" Kyo praised with his eyes full of stars.
"Is that what I just did?"
"Oh yeah, mastering that is super hard on your own. That sword has all kinds of powers and abilities. You're lucky, only a handful of these swords were ever made, and since your blood got on the Eye Sphere, this sword answers to you now!"
"Lucky me," Slade said before picking up the severed head of Lord Drake, "Think this will be a good gift for I.M.P.?"
"Oh yeah, they'll be impressed with this," Kyo smiled as he put the head in a bag.
"Hey, guys!" Tim called.
The two turned to their big Baphomet demon friend to see his arms covered with gold watches and chains. His rings had diamond, gold, and silver rings with gems. His neck and horns had gold necklace chains and gemstones. He held sacks of diamonds, gold bars, rare and priceless artifacts, or cash.
"There's a lot of cool stuff here. So, grab what you can carry and stuff in your pockets!" Tim said.
Kyo sprinted around, grabbing valuables and stuffing them in his pockets with a smile full of glee. Slade raised his eyebrow in slight confusion before shrugging. His sword faded away in a series of ripples of light before disappearing, but he could still feel its power, knowing that he could summon it whenever he wanted.
"It's not like I need the money. I got money coming out of my ass," Slade said out loud.
He looked at some of the gold bars and wads of cash.
"Still, a new car or PC would be nice. Plus, gyms aren't free. So whatever," Slade told himself as he grabbed some loot.
Then Slade found some guns in a crate, and one caught his eye. It was a custom-made demonic Desert Eagle. It was bigger than regular human Desert Eagles with a slightly longer barrel. It was chambered in 50 AE, double stacked to hold 15 rounds, night sights, and rails underneath the barrel for optics, with three muzzle port holes on each side of the barrel. The frame was black, the slide was red, and the barrel was stainless steel. The black handguards had tribal wolf's head engravings. Slade gazed upon it with great interest.
"Hmm, yeah, you're coming with me, beautiful," Slade smiled as he holstered the gun in this sleeveless jacket and took the magazines with it.
They collected more valuables and got out of there. Then they stashed their loot somewhere safe so they could come back for it later. Kyo summoned a portal leading into Hell. Slade took a deep breath before entering in. It was the first time in a long time that he was returning to Hell.
"Welcome to Nightmare City," Kyo hollered with his arms out.
Slade looked around at it all, "Hasn't changed much."
"Is that where I.M.P. is?" Tim asked, pointing to an office building in front of them.
"Temporary. Their new headquarters isn't finished yet. So they're setting up shop here for now. Let's go ingratiate ourselves, gentlemen," Kyo said, straightening his outfit with a smile.
"Right," Slade groaned, following behind.
