Marduk's big cleaver sword was shining a red and purple glow. He charged and swung at Satan and Cody. They dodged his swing. Cody thrust his big Blue Diamond sword at Marduk's head, but he swerved it and struck the blade away from his head. Satan swung his flaming mace overhead hard, and Marduk blocked it with his cleaver sword. A loud clang was heard as their weapons clashed along with sparks. Cody swung sideways at Marduk but summoned a great demonic axe with a long broad axe blade that glowed the same color as his sword. It appeared just in time for him to block Cody's sword. He parried and held his two giant weapons ready.

Cody and Satan growled as they readied themselves before attacking. Satan extended his bat wings as Cody extended his black feathered wings – with a rigid flap, they charged at Marduk. Their weapons clashed violently as they fought, shaking the ground and sending shockwaves. Cody shot a big and powerful blue energy beam that sent Marduk flying into a wrecked building. Satan breathed an intense and violent fire at him as he tried to get up. Marduk cast a protective shield spell as he ran. Satan's fire was powerful enough to melt stone into nothing. With a wave of Cody's hand, he shot dozens of large lightning bolts at Marduk. They zapped him, but he wasn't going down. He panted and got up. He cast a spell of a stampede of ghost bulls with glowing eyes charging toward them – they destroyed everything in their path, including building debris and wrecked vehicles. Cody summoned five big portals that shot giant energy beams at the bulls while Satan leaped high in the air with his wings and his fists glowing. He shot a storm of red energy balls that exploded on impact. Once the ghost bulls were destroyed, Cody and Satan charged at Marduk.

Meanwhile, War and Conquest were going up against the leader of the gargoyles, Argo.

"Ready?" War asked, pulling out his Dragonslayer sword.

"Born ready," Conquest replied, readying his tomahawks.

"Oh, I'm going to enjoy this," Argo grinned.

His red tribal tattoos glowed brighter as his morning star flail ignited its flames. He swung it, sending the mace flail at them, but War parried it. Conquest dashed toward him and struck several times with his tomahawks clashing against the handle of his weapon. War jumped high in the air and swung hard with his sword. Argo dodged it, and War shattered the ground with his sword. Then War summoned floating guns and fired at Argo, but he used his wings to fly around dodging the bullet storm. Argo summoned a spell to shoot flaming stakes, but they avoided them.

Lamia and Samael were up against Brennan, the leader of the goblins. He readied his big double-headed war hammer while Lamia and Samael readied their swords. Lamia cast a curse of flame twisters that attacked Brennan, but he held his ground. Samael summoned giant rock blocks that hit him hard that sent him flying, but as he was in the air, he shot magical bombs that exploded as the two fallen angels cast shield spells to protect themselves. Then they collided with their weapons violently. Brennan wasn't as fast, but each hammer strike was devastating. Brennan laughed a devilish smile with his tongue sticking out.

Marduk lunged both his giant weapons at Cody. The strike hit his sword as he blocked, but the force sent him flying and crashing against some debris. Satan punched him hard, sending him flying and making him land hard on his feet and claws as Marduk and Satan roared as they charged at each other. They collided, hitting their heads together, and used all their strength to push against each other while growling and glaring at each other. It was like seeing two demonic bull gods fight each other to the death.

Then Satan charged his power and summoned an energy dome explosion. As Marduk was hurled back, Cody summoned his giant strong dark magic arms to punch Marduk, and then he grabbed him, clenching him tightly with both massive arms. Satan summoned a dark spell of huge flaming spiked-like tress that impaled Marduk. Then with his Blue Diamond Sword, Cody beheaded Marduk with one swift and decisive swing. Both his head and his body burned away.

War's Dragonslayer sword clashed against Argo's flail until the chain wrapped around the blade. War thrusted the sword down into the ground and held it there, preventing the end of the flail from returning to its master. Conquest summoned his lightning bow as he tried to pull and then shot a lightning arrow right into Argo's heart. He froze for a minute acknowledging the lightning arrow burning into his chest. As soon as he was distracted, War summoned a dozen floating tank guns around Argo. When they fired, Argo was lost in a giant explosion.

Lamia and Samael charged and struck their swords together on Brennan's hammer, breaking it. Then Samael struck Brennan with dozens of giant lightning bolts and a blast from a large energy beam. Brennan was barely standing. Lamia took this chance to stab him right in the heart with her sword before making giant sharp claws appear on her hand and slicing Brennan's head to pieces.

When it was over, Cody, the Fallen Angels, and the rest of the Four Horsemen appeared, and all were out of breath.

"Well done, boy," Satan spoke.

"Thank you, my dark lord," Cody panted.

"Yes, you did great, kid," Lamia patted his shoulder.

"It's not over yet," Conquest warned.

They looked and saw a legion of the Overlords' minions – minotaurs, gargoyles, and goblin demons charging at them. Cody and his comrades readied their weapons and fought back. Compared to their masters, it was no challenge killing them. It didn't take long for the VVV Legion army to retreat north into the farm fields. In his complete demon lion form, Cody and his friends watched as King Purson led his dark knight cavalry into a massive final united charge toward the retreating army. The impact was devastating to the VVV army as they fled in disarray. King Purson breathed a dark flame breath and used his lion claws to slice and rip the enemy apart. The dark knights slaughtered any fleeing troops.

It wasn't long until Free Demon Union Army completely took all of Slaughtersburg and the Blood Hills. The Knight Raiders captured all enemy soldiers surrendering, which were less than two hundred at that point. The Free Demon Army went around collecting wounded comrades while shooting any enemies too wounded to care for.

Cody flew up and raised his Blue Diamond sword.

He yelled at the top of his lungs, "FREE DEMON VICTOR!"

All of the Free Demon Army, including Duke Dantalion and King Purson, gave a loud and thunderous battle cry for victory. They cheered and hollered together confidently. Cody received several thanks and congratulations. He flew into downtown Slaughtersburg to look for Loona. In the city, most of the standing buildings waved the Free Demon Army flag – a red flag with a black pentagram star in a circle. The VVV flag was a black and purple flag with three V's in the shape of an upside-down pyramid.

He found Duke Dantalion and most of the Knight Raiders – Loona was bound to be somewhere there. Once he landed and powered down, he received several pats on the back and shoulder as everyone cheered. They made way for him to walk through, and eventually, he found Loona, who was talking with some officers, Hellhound, and baphomet demons. They had a map on the hood of an armored vehicle. Loona had a bandage over her left arm with some cuts and minor bruises here and there, but overall she was okay.

She looked over and saw Cody. When she did, she instantly sprinted toward him, and Cody ran to her. They embraced in a tight hug, and the soldiers cheered. Loona kissed and held his face before checking that he was okay, and Cody did the same.

Later

The Free Demon army burned the dead bodies of the enemy while sending their fallen back home to have a proper burial while stripping the dead of any weapons, ammo, and gear. There were hills of burning corpses in the farm fields burning brightly in the night and casting a foul and wretched smell. The city of Slaughtersburg nor Bloodhill did not have any power, so there were no lights on. The only lights were from the burning dead, work lights the army set up here and there, and flares were shot occasionally. Many wanted to celebrate, but there were scout reports of VVV Legion near the area, so everyone was staying on alert. Cody stayed with Loona as they patrolled with the Knight Raiders.

Cody and Loona were sitting on one of the rooftops overlooking the city with a view of Bloodhill and its fields with burning hill piles of the dead. Slaughtersburg and Bloodhill looked like a real warzone with its wrecked and destroyed debris, bullet holes, flares, burning fires, etc. Cody was taking in that he was not a citizen anymore. He was a soldier, a knight, a warrior. Life has taken him and his friends down a strange and dark path.

Cody and Loona joined a Raider patrol group walking with a few armored vehicles with heavy machine guns. They were all armed to the teeth. When Cody and Loona joined them, they were a little surprised.

"My dark lords, shouldn't you be with the King and Duke? They're having a fine dinner with the general," a Hellhound Raider asked.

"No way. Too fancy for my blood," Loona replied.

"Unless summoned, we'd rather do some work around here. Show that we're not afraid to get our hands dirty like everyone else," Cody added as they walked.

The Raiders glanced at each other.

"Well, if you want to work, we need to help set up some high explosive mines outside the city," an Imp Raider said.

"Lead the way," Cody said.

They followed them to the outskirts of the city. The burning piles of enemies were as big as hills. There were streams of blood coming from the stacks. The troops showed Loona and Cody how to arm the mines and marked the locations where to place them. They didn't have to worry about them setting the mines off accidentally. They were remotely activated.

Cody used his powers to float them in the air to carry them, which was a significant relief because they were heavy. The mines were flat and round-shaped, with enough explosives to equal an artillery shot.

Cody looked over at the enormous craters he had caused earlier and was impressed by how big they were – they were the size of football stadiums. He remembered how he was killing thousands with each blast of his Rain Hellfire technique.

"You did good, Cody," Loona said, making Cody turn toward her, "You hit the enemy hard. Vox and Velvet are gonna feel this."

"So many demons died today . . . and the VVV Legion isn't going to surrender after this, will they?" Cody asked.

Loona shook her head, "Nope. We'll have to keep hitting hard until they finally give up."

Cody continued to stare at the fields and the burning fires, "I'm starting to get a good idea of what my brother Tommy went through."

"I doubt his experience was as rough or intense as yours, but at this point, you're both veterans. We all are," Loona pointed out.

Cody nodded, "You're right about that. Anyway, this is the last one?"

"Yep, so help me set it up."

However, as Loona and Cody were almost done setting up the last mine, they heard a distinctive noise from the darkness in the fields. It sounded like huffs of heavy breathing but powerful, like from a beast. Loona and Cody slowly glanced at each other before turning around to see what it was. Loona readied her rifle, and Cody was about to summon an enchanted weapon when the source of the noise stepped out of the darkness. It was the most unexpected thing – a dragon.

It was big and strong. It had four legs with talons and enormous wings with claws. Most of the scales were black, with the belly, throat, and most of the face dark grey. The head had four horns, two big ones on top of the head and two smaller ones on the side, pointing down with a small horn on the end of its nose. Its long tail had spikes with a big talon on the end. The eyes were blood red. There were some deep cuts along its body.

Loona slowly lowered her rifle as the dragon slowly approached them. Cody gently held his hand out.

"Cody. Careful," Loona warned.

"It's all right," Cody assured, "Shh, it's all right."

The dragon approached Cody and let him pet his face. The dragon kept his eyes on Cody as he petted his head and neck.

"Whoa, easy. Easy. You're gonna be okay," Cody said.

"Anyone one coms, this is Dame Loona. Come in," Loona said on coms.

"Go ahead, Dame Loona," a Raider officer answered.

"This is Dame Loona. I'm with Sir Cody. We're on the northwest side of Bloodhill near Ridgewood. We found something. A dragon," Loona said.

"Say again, Dame Loona. You found a dragon?"

"That's right. We're standing right in front of it."

"Keep your distance. Dragons are very dangerous."

"This one isn't. He's pretty gentle," Cody said on coms.

"Whatever you do, don't scare or piss him off. Just stay on his good side. I'm on my way," another Raider officer stated.

After five minutes, some Raiders showed up in armored vehicles. They approached slowly so as not to spook the dragon.

"Holy shit . . . that really is a dragon and not just any dragon. That's a Redeye Blackthorn! They're endangered. How'd you find one?" the Imp Raider officer asked.

"He just showed up out of nowhere. Is it a he or she?" Loona questioned.

The Imp Raider officer looked, "Uh . . . it's a he and . . . he's a little underweight. It's been a while since he ate. That's not good. Dukeman, check to see if we got some meat for this big guy, and we're gonna need some kind of kiddie pool or something to serve as a water bowl big enough for him."

"Yes, sir!" Dukeman said before taking off.

"Guys? Why is he staring at me and only glancing at you guys?" Cody asked.

Cody demonstrated by walking left and right, showing the dragon's gaze followed him.

"Did you look him in the eye?" the Imp Raider officer asked.

Cody nodded.

"And did he look back at you in the eye?"

Cody nodded again, "Yeah, he did."

"Oh boy."

"What does that mean?" Loona asked.

"He imprinted you."

"Imprint?"

The Imp Raider officer nodded, "Yep. Which means he chose you as his master and guardian."

Cody and Loona's eyes widened.

"What? Me? Why?" Cody asked.

"Dragons are highly intelligent creatures and very emotional. They can survive independently, but the more time they're alone, the more stressed they feel – more depressed. That's why they usually roam in groups or packs. So, when it comes to owning one, they need a ton of love from their master."

Cody glanced at Loona and then at the dragon. He continued to pet his neck behind his horns. The Blackthorn dragon rubbed his face on Cody's torso.

"Well, I can't leave you all alone, buddy, but I don't know anything about taking care of dragons," Cody said.

"I'll help you, my dark lord. I grew up on dragon ranches. Let's get this big guy some shelter, and I want to check to ensure he's got no injuries," the Imp Raider officer said.

"You know, this isn't exactly the kind of pet I had in mind for you to have," Loona said with a smile.

Cody chuckled, "Yeah. Maybe we can set him up at Millie's parents' ranch. I can use the portals to see him as much as possible while, at the same time, he can get all the open space he needs."

Loona agreed, "Yeah. Maybe the same place for your horse Midnight too."

"You should name him. That way, he'll respond to you better," the Imp Raider officer suggested.

Cody glanced at Loona, and she nodded. Cody stepped in front of the dragon, looked him in the eye, and he looked back in the same way.

Cody said loud and clear, "Rocky. Your name is Rocky."

The dragon's pupils widened and then narrowed as if registering that that was his name from now on. Rocky it was then.

However, Loona's phone rang. When she looked at the screen, she saw that it was Blitzo which made her groan a sigh as she rolled her eyes.

She reluctantly answered, "Blitzo, now is not a good time. We're bu—what? (long pause) Wait, what?! When did that happen?!"

Cody and the Imp Raider officer turned to her concerned as they glanced at each other.

"Oh, dear Satan. Are they okay? (pause) How bad? (pause) Where are they? (pause with a heavy sigh) Okay, I'll tell him. I don't know when we'll see them. We'll need to ask King Purson for temporary leave, but I think he'll understand. (pause) Okay, I'll text you later," Loona said before hanging up.

"Loona? Everything all right?" Cody asked.

Loona shook her head, "No, that was Blitzo. He got a call from your sister-in-law Celeste. She and your brother were attacked."

Cody's eyes widened, and his heart skipped a beat, "What?! What happened?!"

Loona explained, "I.S.N.A. They tried to get your brother to use him to draw you out, but Tommy fought back, and while he held them off, Celeste called Blitzo. They arrived in time to save them, but Tommy . . . he-he uh—"

"He got burned and wounded pretty badly."

Cody could feel a cold chill run up his spine, and his limbs weakened.

Loona held her boy by his shoulders, "But don't worry. He's alive. Lipton and Loopty are working him as we speak."

"They're doctors?"

"Well, they know how to keep someone alive, so yeah."

Cody sighed, rubbing his eyes and the bridge of his nose, "Okay, let's get food and water. Then let's ask King Purson for a quick temporary leave for a family emergency."

"Got it," Loona said before getting the Humvee ready.
