Well I got a surprisingly quick positive response to this story compared to most of my more recent writing ventures. I suppose that's the power of writing in a large community like Star Wars then though. Decided to get to work on the next chapter ASAP so than I can have something out without too much time. Unfortunately though I ended up getting wrapped up in holiday stuff and then following New Years my immediately got sick. I've heard several other people had a similar start to the year or worse. Seems 2024 is off to the usual cursed start. Anyway let's get back to the story.

Yoda sensed nothing, but truth from the young man. As strange as it may seen, especially if from such a dark future he hailed, the boy shone so brightly in the Force. His father's son he certainly was. Young Anakin seemed completely unaware of how the Force converged around him with such ease. It was unlike anything Yoda had ever seen. He'd never put much stock in the prophecies of old as they were often vague or incomplete , if not both. He knew that reliance on prophetic visions could be catastrophic. Like the tale of the masters who massacred their own Padawans in an attempt to stop a great evil from rising, but in the end it was all for naught.

For the Sith to hide to in plain sight in front of them was very concerning. Especially since the Jedi Council had stood right beside him after the battle of Naboo and not one of them had sensed a thing.

"Know this for sure do you?" he asked.

Luke nodded, "Yes. I met him and there was no doubt about it. His name and face were common knowledge, but I don't think many knew his true nature. Even the Alliance was uncertain at times, but you seemed to know for sure. You and Ben both warned me to be wary of his power...but..." he suddenly trailed off.

The feeling of being lightheaded came over him and his eyelids felt heavy. He hoped his time wasn't already up and darkness began to set in.

Yoda watched the young knight collapse on the spot. He worriedly felt for him in the Force and felt great relief. It seemed that the boy was already exhausted and then the overwhelming circumstances took their toll on him. He was simply sleeping. Perhaps it was do them both good. Yoda could take the time to contemplate this grave future and the boy could get some seemingly long needed rest.

Mace Windu's questioning prod could he felt through the force. Perhaps it would be best to discuss these future dealings with his former pupil. His knack for detecting Shatterpoints could prove of use. On the other hand, perhaps it would be best to wait to see if Luke had more to offer in the way of information before they began discussing everything.

Discretion would by an advantage they couldn't afford to lose if the Sith had already maneuvered his way into the central role of power in the Republic. They must take great care if they are to succeed.

The grandmaster made a few calls to arrange for some spare garments for his visiting 'padawan' to change into once he awoke. It would be wise to help Luke not stand out too much, lest he draw the Sith's attention. An amusing thought that technically their lie was true from a certain point of view. Though not as strong on his end he could feel his connection with the boy that had likely been a bond formed with his future self. That could be problematic should the same be said for Obi Wan and young Anakin. Especially for the boy as he was likely to investigate the oddity and he had been having visits with the Chancellor as of late.

Yoda paused for a moment, then it hit him. They'd been letting one of their own be led into the Sith Lord's clutches. And not just any Jedi, but their supposed Chosen One and a young boy who'd been separated from his mother and likely was being influenced under the guise of a kind mentor and friend. That would need to be dealt with a soon as possible. Even if Palpatine turned out not to be the Sith Lord, it was unwise to let a politician have free access to a child, Jedi or otherwise.

If Obi-Wan was possibly tied to this situation as tightly as he expected, perhaps it was best to bring him up to speed once he had a full grasp of the situation himself.

A short while later, Luke awoke feeling much better. He instinctively reached for Leia in the Force and bolted awake when he couldn't feel her presence. Then his situation slowly came back to him. He observes his surroundings, taking in the now dimmed room before him. He was met with a sudden aroma and removed the blankets he hadn't realized he'd been draped in.

He exited the small room and wandered the small aprtment until he found a common room of sorts. A covered plate of food and fresh tea as well as water sat waiting for him.

"Some much needed rest I would say yes." Yoda commented.

Luke jumped slightly, not even realizing the old Jedi was present, "Yes. I've not slept well in quite a while. I'm always so busy that it's hard to unwind to sleep." he admits.

Yoda nods, "Yes a trait common among Jedi. However, while the Force provides much, you would do well to rest. For the sake of your body and your mind." he advised.

Luke smiled, "I try." he said, immediately realizing his error.

"Do or do not. There is no try." Yoda stated immediately.

The young man chuckled, "That's honestly kind of nostalgic for me. You drilled it into my head during my training." he said.

Yoda grinned, "Very good." he responded.

Luke ate the food and drank the tea and especially savored the water. A Tatooine mentality that was hard to break away from.

"It's been a long time since I've really got to enjoy food like this. Military rations are hardly edible at best." he rambles.

Yoda watched the boy and examined him, "Overindulgent we should aspire not to be, but a good meal is good for the spirit." he says.

Luke nodded and wiped his face on a hand towel he was provided, "I hope my table manners are not to unfit for Jedi. I've not had much time leaning etiquette in the midst of Civil War. Leia was just starting to teach me before this happened."

Yoda stirred his tea quietly and took a sip, "Leia? Your sister you speak of?" he asked.

Luke's smile turned fond, "Yep. Twins in fact. We didn't meet until adulthood and found out about our relation only fairly recently, but we've both accepted it with open arms. It helps that we were already close friends so the jump to siblings wasn't much of a jump to make. It just helped explain why we always felt this inexplicable bond between us." he answered.

Yoda frowned, "Separated you were?" he asked curiously.

Luke's expression soured slightly, "You, Ben and Senator made that call after the Purges. You thought that we'd be too easy to find together, so Bail adopted Leia while Ben took me to Tatooine to live with my family there."

"Resent this do you?" Yoda questioned.

Luke looked sheepish, "Once upon a time I may have, but with time I've come to understand it wasn't a decision made lightly. I've learned to forgive the mistakes of the past." he admitted.

Yoda looked appeased, "A fact that makes you wiser and nobler than most Young Luke. Staying steady in the face of darkness is the sign of a true Jedi. More Jedi could use your faith in the light."

Luke seemed happy to hear it, "I'm not sure that's true, Master Yoda, but I'll take your word for it." he said.

Yoda and Luke rose from their spots once Luke had finished eating. Yoda beckoned him to follow.

"Come. See the temple you should while here you are." the green Jedi offered.

"I would be honored."

Luke was taken aback by the grand halls of the Temple. He'd seen some of it in its ruined state in his time and on his way to Master Yoda's quarters. Upon further inspection he was drawn in by the energy of the space. It felt alive and moving yet calm and serene.

Yoda showed him such places as the Jedi Archives and the Room of a Thousand Fountains. The latter made Luke stare visibly in awe at the amazing spectacle of a room. Yoda remarked that Anakin had a similar reaction to the room upon his initiation. Luke understood when told that many Jedi used the space to mediate and train mentally. It seemed perfectly suited to such things.

The hangar definitely amazed Luke as it housed many ships that would be considered 'classics' in his own time. He was tempted to ask if he'd be allowed to work on anything in here, but he didn't wanna test his boundaries for now.

The thing that really stood out to Luke was the sense of community. Hundreds and thousands of people wandered the halls to various destinations, yet you could spot conversations between long time friends, former master student-duos bonding with the newest members of their lineage, and just about anyone else you could imagine. Everyone was respectful of Master Yoda, and made sure to bow politely or greet them as they passed. Of course he saw the younglings and padawans who were up to mischief. Seems that even Jedi enjoy a good prank.

"Yes. Indeed it is a favorite past time of many Jedi of all ages to cause some mischief." Yoda confirmed.

Luke smiled, the mental image of the battle hardened old warriors had been replaced in his head long ago. This was a good reminder that a Jedi was still a being like any other. It helped relieve some of the pressure on his shoulders.

Yoda had them attend a padawan lightsaber training session. Luke was blown away by the way the young students moved. He'd been much older than them and he didn't feel half as skilled.

When the class ended, a man who Luke assumed was the instructor approached them.

"Master Yoda. Always a pleasure to have you join us." Cin Drallig greeted.

"Good to see you it is my old friend. A guest I have brought today to observe the everyday activities of the temple."

Cin Drallig gave a light bow to Luke, "Master Windu mentioned the arrival of a Jedi from one of Master Yoda's lines. I am Cin Drallig, the Temple's Battlemaster." he introduced himself.

Luke returned the bow, "I am Jedi Knight Luke...Lars. Pleased to meet you." he returned the introduction.

If anyone noticed his slight hesitance, they didn't show it.

"Well met Knight Lars. I don't believe I'm familiar with you, but when there are 10,000 of us out there, there's a few names that are bound to slip your mind." he chuckled, "However, might you be interested in a duel. Pardon my forwardness, but Master Yoda's lineages have often bore some of our order's best swordsman and I am curious if you can be counted among them." he offered.

Luke looked nervous and glanced at Master Yoda, "I'm not sure my saber skills are anything to write home about. I spent a lot of time traveling rather than refining my swordsmanship." he admitted.

Master Drallig waved his hand, "That's no issue. Regardless I'm always looking to spar against new opponents. I could even help you refine your technique if you find yourself lacking." he insisted.

Yoda nodded, "You're choice it is Luke. Friendly sparring between Jedi, not uncommon is it." he says.

Luke looks apologetic, "Maybe I'll take you up on your offer some other time, but I've not been to this Temple in my lifetime and I'd really like to continue the tour I was being given."

Cin looks mildly disappointed yet understanding, "Enjoy your time them. Remember that the invitation is always open though for the sparring and if you need to brush up on your dueling skills." he reminded, before walking away.

A small sense of dread came over Luke briefly at the thought of dueling another force user. His saber skills were enough to get by fighting pirates and third rate Stormtroopers, but he'd always felt that his skills were incredibly sloppy in blade to blade combat. In part, being owed to his experience amounting to having fought a grand total of two battles. The first of which, his father had wiped the floor with him spectacularly and the second of which he had only won due to his father's inner conflict and his brush with the dark side. So his track record isn't exactly looking good.

"Come now. More to see there is." Yoda said, making his way to the exit of the training rooms.

The gardens were beautiful. Being from a desert planet always made him appreciate the variety that vegetation could bring to a room or a world. When the only thing your bound to see coming out of the ground is a Krayt Dragon then anything is preferable. It always made him feel closer to the Force though being surrounded by so much life.

"This garden is home to many things. Grow food we can, herbs for medicinal use, and of course we grown plants from countless planets. Younglings often are taught to tend to the garden as test in patience and understanding of life. Older initiates and padawans may be forced to tend to the plants as a disciplinary action. " Yoda explains.

Luke smiled, "I'd hardly consider a punishment to be sent here. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it." he commented.

It was true he'd seen several marvelous gardens and jungles, but they didn't feel so serene. Maybe it was just the air here in the temple and the galaxy as a whole that had yet to be scarred so greatly.

Yoda nodded, "A great reminder it is, the force is in all life no matter how small or insignificant it may seem."

"Size matters not." Luke muttered.

Yoda gave a Luke a light hit to the shin with his walking stick, "A lesson you would do well to remember Young Luke." he said pointedly.

"I'd never underestimate you. Never again." he replied.

Yoda narrowed his eyes, "Oh so doubt me you did? Judge me by my size do you?"

"I did once. I'll never make that mistake again though trust me. You really helped put things in perspective for me though. Even if it didn't quite set in at the time." Luke admitted.

"It is better to learn late than never." Yoda told him.

Luke sensed someone nearby and it seemed Master Yoda did as well.

"Care to join us, Master Windu?" Yoda said.

Mace stepped out, trying to seem as neutral as possible, but Luke could tell he was on edge for some reason.

The Master gave nod of acknowledgement to them both, "Good day young Luke. I heard you and Master Yoda were touring the temple and I just wanted to use the opportunity to speak with you." he stated.

Luke noticed that he spoke carefully as if something was bothering him, he gave a look to Yoda who returned it and nodded.

"Is something wrong? My old apprentice?" Yoda inquired.

Mace ignored the question, eyeing Luke, "I would like to know more about your history. It isn't often we get visiting Jedi from our other temples. A member of Master Yoda's lineage is even rarer. I hope you can forgive my curiosity." he replies.

Luke nodded, If Master Yoda doesn't mind I have no problem sharing...Master...uh...Forgive me, but I can't seem to recall your name."

"It's Master Windu. I am the Master of the Order. A rank eclipsed only by Master Yoda." he informed.

Luke smiled, "Well met then Master Windu." he spoke respectfully.

Yoda seemed keen for them to move, "Come. A more private place we should find. Away from prying eyes and ears." he suggested, noting the not so subtly eavesdropping Jedi around them.

Mace and Luke gave signs of agreement and followed the small green Jedi.

When they were settled Yoda have quite the intense look on his face, "What we discuss here, imperative it is that it is kept secret." he warned.

Mace raised an eyebrow, "Does it have anything to do with why he is practically a walking Shatterpoint?" he asked.

Luke didn't even know what that meant so he just looked to Yoda for a cue on what to do. The grandmaster met his gaze and seemed to understand.

"Bring a message from the future our young friend does. A very dark future at that. One where the very future of the Jedi Order is at stake." Yoda explains.

Mace sighed, "So you had a vision of a possible future?" he questioned.

Luke open his mouth lightly, trying to find the right words, "It wasn't a vision. I lived it. A civil war fought between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic. A war which started only shortly after the closing of the Clone Wars and the Jedi Purges. In my time I am the last known Jedi in the galaxy." Luke elaborated.

Mace looked slightly more upset at the news, whether because he believed him or because he thought it was some sick joke Luke didn't know.

"You're telling me that the galaxy is to experience two major wars in the future which results in the near extinction of the Jedi? And to claim to be hailing from the future. How are we supposed to prove the validity of your claims?"

Luke frowned, "I hadn't thought that far ahead. This wasn't exactly a planned trip. I was exploring the Jedi Temple in my time when I was brought he before all of you."

Mace looked to Yoda for a response, "Confident I am, in the boy's story. Sense no deception in him do I. Great struggle has he faced and persevered he has."

Luke nodded, "The Sith and their Empire were destroyed in my time. We're rebuilding the Republic, but it's quite difficult to reorganize a government that had been twisted and tied by an evil mastermind like the Emperor for decades."

"Emperor? Sith?" Mace was a bit overwhelmed.

Luke realized he'd failed to fill in that particular detail to this Jedi, "In about 11 years give or take, after the Clone Wars come to an end, the Jedi are exterminated and the Republic is reformed into the Empire. At least that's what I've been told. I was born on the day the Empire began so I unfortunately was not present. Most of the details of history are mired with propaganda so my info comes almost exclusively from what Leia told me or what Ben has mentioned. What I can confirm is that the Emperor was definitely a Sith. That I have no doubts about. I don't think that was common knowledge though as he always had the public image of a benevolent frail old man. " he explained.

The Jedi Master took all this info in, "How did the Sith gain the power to corrupt the Republic into an Empire?" he wondered aloud.

"My best guess is his manipulated his way up through the government. I know when he made his move that he was a wartime Chancellor with all the authority that it came with. Power he claimed he'd give up, but he obviously never did. His true identity is Darth Sidious, but his public persona is Sheev Palpatine." Luke revealed.

Mace's shock was masterfully concealed in the force, but one could notice the twitching in his eye, "Sheev Palpatine. The current Supreme Chancellor. The man who we have spoken to in person several times in the last couple of years. That Sheev Palpatine." he said in disbelief.

Luke winced, "He's the only one I know of. My masters both spoke of the fact that he was a master at shielding his true self. So much so that the Jedi are their time never even noticed his true nature until it was too late." he told him.

"Who were your masters?" Mace asked.

"The part about being part of Master Yoda's line was technically true. I was taught by a man named Old Ben or rather Obi-Wan as I came to know him. Though it was only brief, " Luke started grief showing in his eyes, "After his died, I was sent to find Yoda who was in exile on the planet Dagobah. He finished my training." he confessed.

Mace Windu sighed, "Y'know I'm starting to believe you're not lying. A fact that is honestly far more concerning that the alternative considering the situation you're presenting me with. Two civil wars to take place in a little over a decade and a Sith Lord is our current government leader. Honestly I don't know how it can get worse."

Luke thought that perhaps he should keep the full Vader story for himself for the time being. He wasn't sure that would go over well. Though if he stayed long term he'd have to tell them eventually.

Honestly he hadn't even considered what he would do if his stay here was permanent. No Leia. No Han. No Chewie.

He took a deep breath. If that was what was required of him he would have no choice, but he hoped it didn't come to that.

"...Is there anything else we should know?" he heard Mace say.

Apparently he'd spaced out on the conversation.

Luke weighed this one and decided to take a gamble, "Well I told someone else earlier my name was Luke Lars, but the truth is my name is Luke Skywalker." he confessed.

"Skywalker. You wouldn't happen to be related to Anakin Skywalker would you?"

"He's my father."

"Of course he is."

Yoda seemed amused as Mace complained about the disaster lineage. Apparently it was in his family both biological and not to attract chaos. He didn't know whether to be proud of it or not.

That's another chapter down. Once again not a lot happened, but I wanted to get this out. I will eventually get more characters involved. I want more Anakin/Luke/Obi Wan interaction as well as introducing more characters Luke never would've had the opportunity to meet otherwise. I hope you guys like this. Be sure to leave feedback if I mess up on any info or if I make any noticeable spelling or grammar errors. Until Next time, I'm out.
