Author's Note: This chapter briefly takes place during the RWBY Volume 4 episode "Kuroyuri" before diverging into its own thing. All of the events from the previous volumes/episodes are canon up to this point. If you have no knowledge about "RWBY" up to that point, then I advise that you familiarize yourself with it before beginning this fic. Anyways, let's begin:

"This is hopeless."

Those echoing words had been lingering inside Ruby Rose's mind for quite some time, and due to recent events, she knew that the thought wouldn't be leaving her head anytime soon. After losing her mother at a young age, Ruby knew that she wanted to follow in her footsteps and become a huntress. So despite how nervous it made her feel at first, being a student at Beacon Academy was probably the best thing that had happened to her. She was positive that she would be able to obtain her dream, "a fairytale full of charm". She was well on her way to follow her parents' footsteps and be a hero that would stop the bad guys, save the day, and have fun with her friends.

She still could not believe it, but it quickly became apparent that her dream would have some drastic changes. After all, she had failed to do all three of those things in less than 24 hours. She had witnessed her friend Penny get sacrificed like a pawn, failed to stop Roman Torchwick (and only made it out alive of their encounter because of chance), and she had arrived too late to the scene and saw her friend Pyrrha get murdered in cold blood. One could make the argument that she technically did save the day since her Silver Eyes had apparently frozen the Wyvern and driven back Cinder, but Ruby definitely wasn't one of the few that believed that. She felt terrible. Team RWBY was no more, and she just couldn't help but feel regret every time she saw the remnants of Team JNPR without Pyrrha at their side.

Still though, things had been looking great for a while. Despite everything that had happened all those months ago, the situation felt normal with Jaune, Ren, and Nora by her side. Of course, that didn't last. Her Uncle Qrow was now gravely wounded, and if there are no medical supplies at Kuroyuri, then he would surely be dea-

"Up ahead!" she heard Jaune say.

Ruby felt relieved. She had been so lost within her thoughts that she hadn't realized that they made it. However, as she and Jaune got closer, she started feeling hopeless again. The village was in chaos. Everything was in terrible shape, and it looked like there was nothing of use.

"Oh, man" Jaune said.

"Come on" Ruby said as the two moved forward. "Any of these places look like a pharmacy?"

"It's…honestly hard to tell." Was Jaune's reply. As they passed by more destruction, Ruby decided to state the obvious.

"Ren really didn't want to come here, did he?"

"Uh…didn't seem so."

"Do you know…why?"

"I think I have a pretty good idea…"

The conversation died right there, and if they didn't hurry, so would Qrow. Eventually, they found a dead sakura tree, so they took Qrow off of the stretcher and placed him there so that they could split up and look for supplies. It was a good idea that she completely wasted, since after distancing herself away from where Qrow had been, she stopped dead in her tracks and just looked at her injured Uncle. Eventually, Ruby became lost in her thoughts once more.

Mom was dead. Penny was murdered. She couldn't save Pyrrha, and it now looked like she wouldn't be able to save her mentor either. From there on, her mind started spiraling into dreams of her loved ones dying. The Grimm had probably already taken out and Ren and Nora. Jaune would probably commit suicide after that. It was likely that Weiss would be killed in a terrorist attack orchestrated by the White Fang. And speaking of the White Fang, Blake would probably fail with her vendetta against them and get herself killed. Yang would take this news very badly, and would blindly get into a fight, leading to her death too. Now, with no daughters by his side, Dad would meet the same fate as Jaune. With no one left to take care of him, Zwei would die of starvation.

Her mind went on and on until she was snapped out the sound of Jaune approaching her.

"Nothing."

Qrow was doomed.

"Ruby, what are doing?" asked Jaune in confusion.

"It's called mercy" cried Ruby, who was now pointing Crescent Rose's sniper mode at her Uncle's chest.

Why was she doing this? This was clearly her being too dramatic. For the Gods' sake, she was about to put down her Uncle with a concept that became branded into her mind because of all the movies that she would watch instead of going to sleep.

"Ruby, please don't do it! We can't give up yet!"

"How? Tell me Jaune, why haven't we given up already? Everyone is going to die!"

"Don't give me that, Ruby! You already the answer! We are doing this for Py-, we're doing this for Pyrrha, for Penny, for Yang! For everyone that died because of Them!"

Jaune thought that those words would help Ruby. But, as he would later find out, all it did was make Ruby feels worse. As he said those words, images of the deceased and the soon to be deceased flashed through Ruby's mind. That was it. In that moment, the trauma inside her mind exploded, and the mysterious Silver Eyes were unleashed!

On the floor laid innocent Ruby, unconscious, and Jaune couldn't help but cry. Pyrrha's demise had already taken its toll on him, and the reactions of Ren of Nora had a similar effect. The sight of his overly optimistic best friend was absolutely heartbreaking, and he was brought to his knees.

Suddenly, the land around him began to shake. "Earthquake?" was Jaune's initial thought, which was put to rest when something, no, someone, broke through the ground and ascended to the sky.

Jaune couldn't believe what his eyes were seeing. This, thing, looked exactly like paintings of the Gods that Jaune had seen back when he was a kid.

"Thank You!" said the possible God. "Let us begin our quest!"

Thanks to everyone who read this. This is the first time I have written Fan Fiction, so sorry if the dialogue is really cringy. Anyways, there are three things I would like to address. Firstly, Chapter 2 will come out either at the end of this month, or near the beginning of July. Secondly, Chapter 2 will contain information on the schedule for the release of future chapters. Finally, Chapter 2 will basically be one big info dump, and the plot/action won't really start until Chapter 3, which will be when the similarities to the plot of Red vs. Blue: Singularity starts to show. Anyways, I once again thank you for reading this, and I hope you enjoyed it!
