A/N: I managed to get this one out a lot quicker than I was expecting! We have prom and Alexa is making herself known! I do hope that I'm not making her too unlikable haha while also showing that she has no humanity right now. And for the first time in a while, I do need to say that I love Stefan and I won't always be mean to him! He was quite ruthless in the show to get Elena's humanity back, and he is doing the same here for Alexa. Alexa's dress is on my pinterest, link on my profile, if anyone wants to check if out :)

Damon's POV
While Alexa slept upstairs, I kept Stefan occupied in the parlour. Not that it was particularly hard. My brother had taken to avoiding my girl, content to watch her actions from afar. Her harsh words regarding his feelings towards Elena on the way back to Mystic Falls probably contributed to that. But since he had done nothing but lecture her during that journey, I was not going to say anything. He had yet to learn how to handle Alexa without her humanity, which was quite hilarious considering he had claimed that he had been the same during his humanityless period.
"So, how long's it been?" I asked as we threw a football back and forth. It helped Stefan to destress. And if my brother wasn't stressed, then he wasn't hassling me about Alexa's lack of regard for human life. Which was a win for everyone. "Eight, nine days?"
"Yeah, eight or nine days," Stefan agreed, nodding his head as he threw the ball with a bit more force. "I don't know, I lost count."
"If we lost count of the consecutive days in which Alexandria Gilbert has not killed anyone, I'd say that's progress, brother," I gave him a wink. I also knew for sure that Alexa hadn't killed anyone. If she wasn't with me, she was hanging around with Rebekah. The blonde Original was delighted by that, since she had finally gotten what she wanted, Alexa's friendship. Even if she was humanityless. Rebekah always told me when they fed on someone and Alexa had shown no interest in killing someone so far. She just seemed to come home and rip my clothes off. But hey, if she was substituting sex for killing people, then it was a win. "And that is what happens when you let me distract her without being interrupted."
My brother ignored the meaning behind my words to give me a frustrated look, "So what are we gonna do, just, ah, throw the football around for another 150 years til Alexa gets her humanity back? Because I'm cool with that."
"Don't be so dramatic, Stefan," I rolled my eyes. "It won't take that long. Once she has done what she needs to do, she will consider turning it back on. Especially if Elena asks her to. Even with her humanity gone, I'm willing to bet that she wouldn't be able to deny her sister anything."
"Oh, you mean once she has dropped the veil to the other side to bring Elena back to life and exposing us to all of our dead enemies," my brother scoffed, shaking his head. "That is the last thing that we can let her do. No, we need to find a way to make her want the cure, or, failing that, make her want to turn her humanity back on. Before she can force Bonnie into dropping the veil."
"You're setting yourself up for failure," I shrugged, but I didn't stop him. If there was one thing that Alexa trusted me to do, it was to let her know what the others were planning. Even if it meant that I played along with Stefan's distasteful plotting. Because I knew that he wouldn't listen to my request for him to stop. So all I could do was listen in and warn my girl what their plans were. With Alaric and Jeremy encouraging my brother, there were a lot of people to look out for. I knew that Alexa regretted bringing Ric back when she did, as that plan seemed to have backfired. "Besides, how are you going to make her want to turn it back on?"
"There are a few ways that could work," Stefan answered evasively, throwing the ball back with a bit more force than was necessary. He probably didn't expect me to push as much as I did. Which was foolish of him. I had continuously proven that I wouldn't let anything happen to Alexa. I would take my girl's side and support her, even if it meant going against quite a few of the residents of Mystic Falls.
"What, like pulling a Lexi and bombarding her with emotions until one of them sticks?"
"Yeah, and if that doesn't work, then we go to Plan B: lock her up, keep her sidelined until we figure out a Plan C. If Ric was more confident in his vampire abilities, I would be tempted to ask him to compel her into turning her humanity back on, but I don't know if that would work."
I narrowed my eyes at my brother. He talked so casually about locking up my girl, as if he had any right to do so. About taking away her choices. He couldn't respect a choice that he didn't agree with, unless it came to Elena. He didn't understand how deep her grief was, what it had led her to do. Alexa didn't turn it off for the sake of it, she turned it off because she had a plan. I respected it. And when my girl was ready, she would turn it back on. Even if it meant dealing with everything that she had done. But Stefan didn't realise that. He didn't realise any of that. And more importantly, he didn't realise that he had absolutely no say when it came to 'dealing' with Alexa. She wasn't his to deal with. I had told him multiple times that I would get Alexa through this. But he still didn't listen. Maybe I should let Alexa lose on him, she had been itching to snap his neck for days. It would teach him not to stick his nose in where it wasn't wanted.
"Oh, and what happens when she gets slammed with every emotion she's repressed and ran from since Elena died?"
"Well, then you, my friend, will be right by her side, ready to help her through it."
"If Alexa's humanity comes back before Elena comes back to life, then no one will be able to get her through it."

Alexa's POV
I woke up when a strong arm wrapped around my waist, a body quickly settling behind me. Damon nuzzled the back of my neck as his hand slipped beneath his shirt, which I had commandeered to sleep in, resting on my bare stomach. His fingers stroked my skin as I muttered, "What time is it?"
"Time for you to go get ready for your senior prom," my boyfriend replied, his fingers slowly moving up my stomach, brushing the underside of my boob. When I pushed my body back against his, grinding my hips back, he moved with more confidence, moving to cup my boob. His thumb brushed against my erect nipple, before rolling it between his fingers.
"Ugh, prom," I scoffed, feeling my body begin to grow warm at Damon's touch. "Why do I have to go?"
"You mean other than for the memories?" Damon smirked against my skin and I opened my eyes, just to roll them. "Stefan is planning on bombarding you with emotions until one sticks long enough for your humanity to come back. He thinks that prom is the best opportunity to do that."
"So why should I go?"
"Because just think how much fun you will have. The others will have to be nice to you, even if you are being a bitch to them."
"Hmm, that is an entertaining though," I laughed, turning around in Damon's arms to face him. I nipped at his jaw as he reached down to grab my ass. "I suppose I could show my face. I do like it when they have to be nice to me, even if they will try and persuade me to turn my humanity back on."
"Well, you have successfully ignored their attempts so far," Damon shrugged as he slowly slid my panties down my legs. "What's the harm in dealing with it for a few hours later?"
"I guess I can use the time to check in on Bonnie, since she annoying lost her memory of agreeing to help me out. I just need to remind her that she agreed to help," I paused before adding. "Or threaten her into it. Whichever one works."
"See, attending your senior prom can be of benefit to you," my boyfriend breathed into my ear, nibbling on my ear lobe. With my panties now somewhere on the floor, his hands had returned to my ass, slowly massaging it.
I couldn't help but laugh as I tilted my head back, giving him access to that sensitive spot below my ear, "You just want to see if I chose a dress that makes my boobs look good. I know how your mind works."
"Is it a crime to see if my girl wanted to look good for me?" Damon muttered into my skin before sucking on it. His hand moved from my ass, slowly stroking the skin of my thigh before he nudged my thighs open. He used his body to roll me onto my back before quickly moving on top of me. My boyfriend rested an elbow by my head, his fingers tangling in my hair while the thumb of his other hand settled on my clit. His touch was feather-light at first before he slowly increased the pressure with each movement. His fingers curled inside me as his mouth returned to my neck, sucking and nibbling as he pleased.
I breathed out his name, reaching up to grab onto his shoulders. I felt Damon smirk against my skin as he slowly eroded away my control. Even though we had done this so many times before, my lover still knew how to take me apart. And I would never regret letting him learn the secrets of my body. He knew how to make me gasp, how to make me sigh in pleasure, how to get me moaning out his name without any thought of who might hear us.
He removed his hand from my hair, slowly unbuttoning his shirt, kissing every inch of skin that was exposed. His fingers kept me on the edge, not quite giving me the pressure that I needed to fall into blissful oblivion. Not until his fangs sank into the soft skin of my hip, his thumb pressing on my clit just so. I moaned out his name, arching into his touch, uncaring of the fact that Stefan was likely still in the building.
The moment Damon's fangs left my skin, I pulled him up by his t-shirt, wrapping my legs around his hips as I tasted my blood on his lips. I felt him smirk against my lips as I quickly moved to undo his belt, pushing down his jeans. My boyfriend did the rest, kicking off his jeans and boxers before moaning as I wrapped my hand around his hard cock. His head fell down to rest against my chest as I slowly pumped my hand up and down, giving him just enough pressure to feel good but nothing beyond that.
"Don't tease me, Alexa," he groaned into my skin, his hands gripping my hips so hard that I would have bruised if I was still human. My thumb lightly stroked the head of his cock at his words.
"You teased me first," I purred before taking mercy on him. I removed my hand and rolled us to the side, so that I was on top. Damon kept an iron grip on my hips as I slowly lowered myself onto his cock, groaning as he started to fill me. The moment that he filled me completely, I gripped his t-shirt, ripping it in half. I ran my fingers down his chest, my nails leaving little red marks that immediately healed, as I slowly moved up and down. Damon's thumb returned to my clit, moving in firm circles, as I rocked my hips back and forth, keeping the majority of his cock inside me. I could feel every inch of him inside me, each movement had it dragging against that magical spot. That friction, combined with the pressure on my clit, soon had my hips faltering in their movements. But Damon was close enough to his orgasm to just grip my hips, thrusting up as I thrusted down. It was enough to quickly take us to the edge.
I came first, gripping onto his arm as his thumb never let up on its movements against my clit. My nails left little groves in his skin as I threw my head back, calling out his name. He came not long after, his fingers digging into my ass, as he groaned out my name. I collapsed down against his chest as my body succumbed to the pleasure, giving up its strength. Damon hummed into my hair as his arms wrapped around me, holding my body close to him. And I just laid in his arms, content to just be held.

After round three of sex, I left the Boarding House to meet up with Rebekah. The Original sister had asked me to help her find a dress for prom. I was tempted to say no, but Damon had persuaded me to go with the blonde, since he had to go check in on Alaric. He had been helping his friend deal with his new vampire instincts, including how to feed from people without killing them.
When I met Rebekah, she immediately started telling me all about the deal that she had made with Elijah for the cure. All the girl had to do was act like a human for the day. Which meant no speed, no strength, no compulsion. None of the perks that came with being an immortal. And it sounded so boring. She couldn't even feed. Although because of her age, her hunger wasn't as large as mine. It was, apparently, one of the benefits of getting older.
"I can't believe that you agreed to this deal," I rolled my eyes as we walked down the main high street in the posher part of town. It was where all the good dress shops were, including the one that had my own. I secretly suspect that Rebekah had invited me along to compel her a dress. Since she couldn't get one herself unless her fancy credit card influenced someone. "You know that it will be practically impossible for you to pass Elijah's test, right? Especially at prom." I tutted and shook my head. "This must be a nightmare. Tell me, did you have the foresight to compel someone to take you? Or are you going to have to go solo? Cos I'm telling you right now, Damon is taking me and I'm giving up the limo sex that will go with that."
The Original wrinkled her nose at my final words before raising an eyebrow, "You're still going to go with Damon?"
"Why not?" I shrugged. "Damon is still mine, even if my humanity is on vacation. No one else is allowed to take him and he has proven that we can have a good time together. He might make the whole thing a tad more tolerable."
"And you don't want a tag along?" Rebekah had a hopeful edge to her voice as she looked at me, her blue eyes wide as she silently begged me to throw her a bone.
I rolled my eyes, "If you're that desperate for a date, I can get Damon to ask Stefan to take you. He's pitifully alone too and if he's distracted by you, he might leave me alone for once."
"I thought that he had been avoiding you ever since we returned to town?" the blonde frowned as we crossed the street, heading towards the most popular dress shop it town.
"He hasn't spoken to me," I hummed, examining my manicure. I had gone simple this time, a French manicure, decorated with a few green gems. "But I can still hear him talk about me to the others. He keeps moping on about how I am making the same mistakes that he has and that he wants better for me." I groaned and rolled my eyes. "It is all very tedious. I just want to bring Elena back to life without being bothered by do-gooders."
"And how is that plan going, exactly? Because you've been back in town for days and yet, Elena still isn't back from the dead."
"That's because Bonnie's mind got wiped by the witches when they tried to 'free her from expression' or whatever bullshit it was. Ever since then, no one has let me be alone with her, in case I try and force her to lower the veil. Honestly, I thought that completely the final massacre would be the hard part, not persuading the damn witch to do what I want her to do."
"Maybe I can help you with that?"
"When?" I snorted, shaking my head. "While you're pretending to be human or when you are actually human? Either way, you'll be useless to me." I paused before shrugging, "Eh, okay, not completely useless. If you are human, that means that the cure has been taken out of play. Which means that no one can try to shove it down my throat."
"You mean Stefan."
"Yep, he is determined to make me human again, even if it is the exact opposite of what I want. He has hatched some kind of plan to make me turn my humanity back on. Maybe if the cure is gone, he'll back off for a little while."
"I'm surprised that you haven't just left town."
"It's been a tempting thought. I know that Damon will be more than happy to take me somewhere far away. But I need the fucking witch to do her job before I can leave. Then, once Elena is back and everyone's time is occupied with her, I can fuck off to somewhere hot and sunny and just have fun until I feel inclined to turning my humanity back on."
"So you won't turn it on when she is back?"
"I was going to, but I'm having too much fun like this. I no longer care if I eat from too many people or if I say something that hurts someone's feelings. I just feel free. And its something that I've been craving since I first turned. You know, Damon took me out of town to learn how to feed and sometimes, I wish that we never came back. It's been pretty fucking miserable, if I'm being honest."
"Surely there have been some good times since then?"
"New York. So, again, out of town. When I'm in Mystic Falls, I'm either being mentally or physically tortured. Or I'm being judged because I chose to become a vampire, unlike the rest of the fools in this town."
"You know, I miss the happy you."
"That part of me is long gone. And it isn't coming back."

I couldn't help but smirk when we entered the dress shop, "Hello, ladies."
Bonnie turned around, holding her bag to her chest. She watched me with wary eyes as Caroline rested a hand on her shoulder, tugging her closer. The blonde was trying on her prom dress. It was an ivory, mermaid style dress. The majority of the dress was covered in beading and diamantes and what looked like pearls. There were two large gems at the top and bottom of the beaded section of the dress. It was over the top but elegant, so right up Caroline's street. Which was why I gave it a once over and sniffed, looking far from impressed. And it had the reaction that I wanted.
"What are you doing here, Alexa?" the younger blonde snapped, glancing at Rebekah as she went to go look at the racks of dresses. I continued to stand in front of the other two girls, my hands tucked into my back pockets. I knew that I should be playing nice, but I really couldn't be bothered to. Carole used to play the mean girl role but now that she was being threatened, she decided to act like a goody-goody.
"I'm just here to collect my dress and help Rebekah find hers," I shrugged casually, showing a bit too much teeth as I smiled, before glancing at the witch. "Ah, Bonnie, just the lady that I wanted to see. Have you been avoiding me? Because you don't answer any of my calls."
"I won't be manipulated into doing what you want, Alexa," Bonnie shook her head before allowing the blonde to gently tug her behind her. Although that didn't stop the witch from watching me with careful eyes. We both knew that I would keep pushing. What the witch didn't know was, when I would next try to push her to follow up on her end of the deal.
"We'll see," I blew her a kiss before glancing back at the blonde. Caroline was glaring at me through narrowed eyes and I couldn't help but smirk when I remembered why. The last time that we saw each other, I had wrecked her in a fight before snapping her neck. It must have been pretty embarrassing for her, getting beaten in a fight by a younger vampire. Guess she should have learnt how to fight instead of relying on her vampire strength and speed. Because it ultimately failed her when she came across a better opponent. "What's wrong, Care? You look like something's bothering you."
The blonde gave me one final, poisonous glare before turning to the store clerk that had been awkwardly hovering to the side, "Can you press this for me? I'll pick it up later." She gestured to her dress and the store clerk nodded. Content that her orders would be followed, the other vampire glanced at the witch behind her. "Bonnie?"
When Bonnie nodded, Caroline led her back to the fitting room, pointedly not looking in my direction. I just shrugged and turned back to the store clerk, "Can you help my friend find a dress? She foolishly left it a bit late and needs something today."
When the woman nodded, I gestured for Rebekah to come over before walking over to the sofa. I got myself settled, compelling the junior clerk to get me some champagne as I got ready to be here for a while. I knew that since this was likely to be Rebekah's first school dance, unless some unforeseen disaster happened in the next few hours, the blonde would be a bit of a perfectionist when it came to her dress. Fortunately, all I had to do was my hair and makeup, which wouldn't take long with the stylist that I had compelled to go to Rebekah's house. And she would stay there until we were done with her. Unless, of course, I decided to have a pre-dance drink.
I wasn't aware of Rebekah calling my name until she stood right in front of me. The Original had been asking my opinion on dresses the entire time. And on each occasion, I just told her that I didn't care. Apparently, it didn't sink in as she just didn't stop asking me.
This time, she stood in front of me wearing a yellow dress. It was quite a bright yellow, with the top of the corset decorated with beads, drawing your attention to her cleavage. The bottom of the dress was made up of different layers of chiffon, all ruffled together. It was the first dress that actually suited her, which was why I gave a reluctant thumbs up.
Rebekah gave me a beaming smile before turning to the store clerk. She ordered her to carefully wrap up the dress before having it delivered to her home. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Caroline and Bonnie start to leave the store. The other two girls had been making sure that Bonnie had a suitable dress for the prom, since she had been distracted with expression when Elena and I had accompanied Caroline to pick our dresses. At the time it had been annoying, that Shane had taken up so much of her time that she couldn't even go dress shopping with us. But now, it was perfect. I didn't have to worry about tracking her down. She was right here, ready for me to grab her.
I watched as the two said goodbye outside of the shop before heading in separate directions. Now was my opportunity to finally have a private word with the witch. And I was not going to give that up.
As I went to stand up, Rebekah asked, "Aren't you going to try on your dress?"
I just waved her off, walking towards the door, champagne bottle in hand, "Nah, just have it delivered to your house with your dress. I'm going to get ready there."
And before the blonde could say anything else, I was out of the door.

It took barely a minute for me to track down Bonnie. She had apparently not parked too close as she was still walking to her car. I shrugged and sped over to her, not at all bothered by the fact that someone could have seen me. The vervain was out of the water system now, I could compel anyone saw something that they shouldn't have.
Bonnie jolted in surprise when I appeared beside her. Her hair whipped around her face as the wind picked up out of nowhere. A bulb exploded close by as the witch narrowed her eyes at me. I just rolled mine at her, "Oh relax, I'm not going to hurt you. I still need you, Bonnie."
"Then what do you want?" she ground out; her hands clenched into fists at her sides as the wind continued to swirl around us. Her body was tense as she fought to control her magic. I had heard her earlier words. The girl was waking up with her blankets on fire. Maybe Shane was right when he said that she needed him. Not that it mattered. After all, I wasn't the one who killed him, so why should I care about that? No, all that mattered was that Bonnie held it together long enough to lower the veil.
"I just want to talk," I shrugged, an innocent look on my face before I gave the witch a toothy smile. "It's been so long since we last spoke. It must have been before I went to New York. I have to say, I'm disappointed that you didn't pick up any of my calls. It was very frustrating to learn about you completing the triangle from someone else."
"I won't lower the veil," the witch shook her head, giving me a fierce look as her hands trembled by her side. "I don't care what you do to me, I won't do it."
"Aw, hon," I reached out to cup her face, ignoring the way that the girl flinched at my touch. "I'll let you believe that, for now. But we both know that you will lower the veil eventually. Your magic wants you to, so why don't you save yourself a lot of pain and just do it, hm? Who knows, you might stop waking up on fire if you use your magic to complete the spell."
"How do you know about that?" Bonnie gasped, reaching up to grab my wrists. I felt a shock at her touch, a little zip of electricity, but I didn't let go. I knew that she wasn't in complete control of her magic right now. And that meant that she wasn't deliberately trying to hurt me. I had the power in this relationship right now and we both knew it. I wouldn't take advantage of that just yet. I would save that for another time, when the witch wasn't being so cooperative.
"I'm a vampire, Bonnie, I'm able to hear things that humans can't," I rolled my eyes before tucking her hair behind her ear. The witch's skin was warm to the touch, just like it was after she absorbed the dead witches' power before the sacrifice. It was enough to show just how much power was coursing through her body. "Just like I heard that you're seeing my dead twin in your dreams." Bonnie swallowed hard as I leant forward, my heels giving me a significant height advantage over the girl. "And that makes me wonder why you aren't doing everything in your power to bring Elena back. She's your best friend and yet, you're willing to let her rot away on the Other Side. She hasn't even found peace, Bonnie. And she won't, until you do what you are supposed to do."
"But I can't," the witch whispered, looking at me with wide eyes. "I can't bring back all of our dead enemies. I can't bring down that level of death and destruction on the town."
"Of course you can, because Elena is worth it. And if you do what I want, then I'll leave you alone. I won't bother you anymore. You won't need to hide out at Caroline's house because your worried that I will force you into completing the spell."
"How did you know that?"
"I'm not stupid, Bon, I know when someone is avoiding me. You went to one of the few houses that I haven't been invited in to. Because you know that I will tell you the truth. And that you won't be able to deny my words. Especially since it means keeping my sister from me."
"Why are you doing this to me?" the defeat in her voice had me hiding a smirk. While her fire did amuse me, breaking the witch would only serve me well in the future. A broken Bonnie would lower the veil and bring my sister back. One that was still strong wouldn't. And as much as I didn't particularly want to break the girl in front of me, I wanted my sister back more.
"Because you made me a promise, Bonnie. And I refuse to let you break that promise," I tilted her head to the side, pressing a kiss to her cheek before whispering into her ear. "And until you honour that promise, I will not let you have a second of peace. You will constantly be looking over your shoulder, wondering where I might be, if I might be paying a visit to someone that you love."
"Are you threatening my family?" Bonnie demanded, narrowing her eyes as I pulled back, giving her a wink.
"Yes, because why should you get to have your family, while you are denying me mine," I smirked, releasing my grip on her and stepping back. "Now, I need to go get ready for prom. See you there, sweetness."
I blew her a kiss before turning around and walking away. Behind me, I heard another lightbulb explode and a smirk formed on my lips. The witch was quickly losing control of her powers. And that would scare the shit out of her. Which meant that it would easier for me to manipulate her into doing what I wanted. Honestly, she was making this far too easy for me.

A knock on the door had me glancing away from the mirror. My date had finally arrived. I gave myself a once over, making sure that my makeup was on point, before walking over to the door, the skirt of my dress swishing around my legs. I opened the door and the smile on Damon's face turned hungry.
He glanced me up and down, his gaze lingering on my cleavage. My dress emphasised it well, with the neckline ending at my waist. The bodice was covered in dark green sequins, with only thing straps holding it up. A ribbed wrapped around my waist, with the skirt a loose, flowing fabric that was slightly lighter green. A slit in the skirt showing a cheeky amount of leg when it swished. But my favourite thing about the dress was the way that it held my boobs in place, giving an indecent view of them, considering it was high school prom. But it was worth it to see the hungry look in my boyfriend's eyes.
When Damon eventually dragged his eyes away from my cleavage, I raised an eyebrow and smirked, "You said that you wanted to see me look good for you."
"You look so good that I don't know if I want anyone else to see you," my boyfriend muttered, stepping forward so that he was right in front of me. With every breath, my chest brushed against his. And I knew that Damon enjoyed the new view of my cleavage from the way his gaze darted lower than my eyes at times. His hands settled on the bare skin of my back, the tips of his fingers dipping below the ribbon at my waist. "This feels like a view that should be just for me."
"Well, Rebekah has already left so we have an empty house, if you do want to just stay here," I gave him a wink before pressing a kiss to his cheek. My boyfriend growled deep in his chest before tangling his hand in my hair and pulling me in for a kiss. I gripped onto his shoulders as he devoured my mouth, completely uncaring of the fact that the red of my lipstick was rubbing off onto his lips.
"We'll go long enough for Stefan to try his little plan to get your humanity back and then we'll leave," Damon muttered against my lips, his free hand moving from my back to grip my ass, squeezing tight. "And I'll get to see how good this dress looks on my bedroom floor."
"Only if you agree to keep the tux on," I purred before Damon wrapped his arm around my shoulders, leading us to the limo that he had parked outside. He held the door open for me while ordering the driver to take the long way round.
The moment that he joined me in the limo, I moved to sit on his lap. My boyfriend's hands immediately settled on my hips as I adjusted my dress, griding my hips down against his. The thin fabric of my panties allowed me to feel everything, including Damon's erection. I slowly rotated my hips, the fabric of his trousers giving me enough friction for now.
"You are insatiable," Damon groaned against my neck, his fangs dragging against my skin. He used his grip on my hips to rock me back and forth before he bit into my neck.
I huffed out a laugh, "Yes and you love it."
My boyfriend pulled away from my neck, his lips stained with my blood and lipstick. And I couldn't stop myself from pulling him into another kiss. While he devoured my mouth, I quickly undid his belt, zipping the trousers of his touch and freeing his cock. As I pumped my hand up and down, Damon's quick fingers pushed my panties to the side, giving him access to my core. His fingers brushed against my clit, giving me just enough pressure to have me gasping into his mouth. I felt him smirk against my lips before he gripped my hips again. I clung onto his shoulders, content to let him take control, as I was slowly lowered onto his hard cock. I let out a moan, completely ignoring the limo driver, as I was slowly filled. I titled my head back as Damon's mouth moved to my cleavage, nipping away at the skin on display, as he slowly thrust inside of me, short and sharp movements.
I let out a whimper as he adjusted the angle of his hips, hitting that amazing spot. I felt my boyfriend smirk against my skin at the noise before he continued to aim his thrusts at that spot, quickly driving me to the edge. I clung onto his shoulders, gasping out his name as his fangs sank into my boob, that sharp pain driving me over the edge. Damon groaned against my skin as he quickly followed me into oblivion, holding my hips against his with a bruising grip.
When he had drank his fill, he carefully retracted his fangs, licking away the blood that had dripped down my skin. I knew that my hair was a mess, but I didn't care. It wasn't like I had done much to style it, beyond adding some curls to my natural wave. And having sex hair was quite a look. Especially since it would get me some disapproving stares from the more pious members of the group.
"Think we can ask the limo driver to do another lap of the town," I smirked before brushing my lips against Damon's. He tangled his hand in my hair, gently pressing a kiss to my cheek before winking.
"Oh, I don't think that will be an issue," he purred, his free hand disappearing under the skirt of my dress. And I didn't even bother trying to hold in the gasp as his thumb brushed against my clit. I could feel my body growing hot again, even as Damon's erection pressed against my thigh.

When we finally allowed the limo to arrive at the school, I realised that my good time would quickly come to an end. After Damon helped me out of the limo, I rolled my eyes as I saw who was standing behind him, "Ugh, why are you here?"
"It's nice to see you too, Alexa," Stefan gave me a smile, but I could see how forced it was. And I couldn't help but laugh.
"Oh, that must have been so hard for you to say," I patted his cheek before Damon took my arm in his. "Don't worry, hon, I won't tell anyone that you don't like me anymore." I paused before shrugging, "Although to be fair, I think that a lot of people share your feelings right now. Ah well. That's a problem for another night."
"You mean you aren't bothered by the fact that your friends don't like you anymore?" the younger Salvatore asked, taking my other arm before the two started to escort me down the red carpet. It led us deep into the woods by the school, where a fancy tent had been set up. Screens lined the path, showing various photos of our senior year.
"They'll like me when I bring their friend back to life," I snorted, glancing to the side as an image of Luke and Jazz flickered up onto the screen. It was a photo that I had taken at the beginning of our junior year. Huh, funny how time flies. I didn't even tear up at the thought of their deaths anymore. Although my lack of humanity might have something to do with that. "Until then, I don't care how they feel about me. They didn't respect my choice, so why should I respect them."
Silence followed my words until Damon cleared his throat, "So where's the disco ball?"
Stefan must have been looking for any excuse to change the subject as he immediately took the opportunity that his brother offered, "Caroline's been working on this for a while. It's a, ah, photo-yearbook of the senior class."
"A photo-yearbook? Sounds lame," I rolled my eyes as Stefan pulled us to a stop in front of one of the screens. A photo of Elena and Matt adorned the screen. There was a sweet smile on my sister's face as her then boyfriend held her in his arms.
"Isn't that photo from, ah, the first day of freshman year?" the younger brother prodded gently, staring hard at my face as I looked at the photo. A part of me wondered how Caroline had managed to get her hands on some of these, as I sure as hell didn't give her any photos. Even before I switched my humanity off. I did wonder if Elena had given them to the blonde, but it didn't matter. I knew what Stefan was doing. He was looking for an emotional reaction at the image of my sister. Well, the joke was on him. Because a mere photo of her wasn't going to do anything.
"Yeah, mom took it when she took us to school," I rolled my eyes before glancing at the other screens. There were a lot of familiar faces. Chad. Dana. Tyler. Luke. Jazz. Elena. So many dead faces. So many missing faces. So much grief for me to face if I turned it back on and started to feel properly again. And why would I want that? "She always insisted on these corny photos on the first day of school. God, it's almost a relief that she isn't around today, it would have been unbearable."
Stefan stared at me with wide eyes, shocked by my words, while I watched as the image on the screen faded into one of my siblings. Elena and Jeremy smiled at the camera, arms around each other. This was an image that I had taken, although I couldn't remember the occasion. I just remembered that they were happy. And it made me even more determined to carry out my plan. The kid deserved to have his oldest sister back. And I would do whatever it took to make that happen.
"Well, that was boring," I sighed, rolling my eyes as I slipped my arm out of the younger Salvatore's grasp. He let it go quite easily, still shocked by my words. Which was a tad pathetic. I mean, he really should have expected something like that. "Hopefully the actual dance is more entertaining."
"Somehow I feel as though you will make it entertaining," Damon murmured into my ear as we continued to walk. I couldn't help but laugh at his words, nodding my head in agreement. If they were going to try and force me to turn my humanity back on before I was ready, then I would make their night miserable. It was only fair.
"Only if they keep pushing me," I gave him a wink as we reached the end of the red carpet. It led us into a large tent made out of flowing white fabric. It actually looked kind of cute, not that I would ever tell Caroline that. In fact, I would be tempted to go out of my way to tell her how much I hated it.
There were tables dotted around the edge, giving enough seating that the dancing teens weren't squabbling over it. The white dance floor led up to the stage, where the inevitable crowning of the Prom King and Queen would happen. There were a couple of back rooms, hidden by beading, around the edge of the room. I had no idea what they were there for as they didn't give enough privacy for the horny teenagers. Maybe they were for the Prom King and Queen, after their crowning.
I could see some familiar faces through the crowd. A very pregnant Jenna stood next to Alaric, a protective hand holding her baby bump. Jeremy lurked nearby; an arm wrapped around Bonnie's shoulders. Matt was very obviously ignoring Rebekah's attempts at getting his attention. I didn't know where Caroline was. Ah, so many people that would try and force me to turn my humanity on. And so many people for me to torment in return.

"What are you thinking?" a warm voice murmured in my ear as Damon placed his hands on my hips. He stood behind me as we lurked by the side of the entrance. The others knew that we were here, even if they very carefully avoided looking in our direction. I suspected that it was Stefan who had revealed our presence, but it didn't matter. Even if it did deny me the chance for a dramatic entrance.
"I'm thinking that this will be a lot more tolerable with a bit of alcohol," I muttered, rolling my eyes as yet another slow song started to play. What was up with this music? It was literally killing the party. And that wasn't cool. Because I was supposed to be the one killing the party. "Don't suppose you have any with you? As I absolutely do not believe that anyone has spiked the punch yet."
"Ask and you shall receive," Damon chuckled before his jacket rustled. Then before I could blink, he was holding a flask in front of me. As I took it, I noticed how heavy the flask felt. It was more than booze; this was a fancy flask. I took a swing, enjoying the burn of the bourbon, before examining it. It looked antique, maybe it actually was. I was fairly sure that the flask was made out of silver, because my boyfriend was a snob. I was even more sure of that fact when I saw his initials engraved into the other side of the flask. I rolled my eyes, taking another drink, before handing it back.
"I've never seen you use that before," I mused as my boyfriend rested his head against mine. I could tell that he was reluctant to move from my side, even if he had earlier muttered something about checking in on Jenna. I didn't know if it was because he thought that I would instantly go on a killing spree or he was worried that the others would start harassing me. But either way, he was reluctant to go. I just enjoyed his warmth against my back as his arms wrapped around my waist, holding me close to him.
"Well, normally I can guarantee that someone will either spike the punch or I'll be too busy stopping you from getting killed," Damon shrugged. "But since you are the one more likely to do the killing tonight and since no one will spike the punch to protect your pregnant aunt, I figured that today would be a good day to bring along some bourbon."
"Eh, probably a good assumption," I nodded before pausing. "About the lack of boozy punch, I mean. Not about me killing anyone. I will do my hardest not to kill anyone tonight. That will ruin my fun."
"So you're going to let the try to tug at your heartstrings then?" my boyfriend sounded far too amused for my liking. But since he was letting me share his booze, I wasn't going to say anything. Especially since I knew that he would cut me off, just to wind me up.
"Yeah, why not," I shrugged, tapping my nails against the metal of the flask. "Stefan's face was hilarious earlier, I figured why not get more of those reactions. I'm tempted to get even more outrageous, but I'm struggling to think what could beat my words before."
"Well, I'm sure that you'll be able to think of something, baby," Damon huffed out a laugh before pressing a kiss to my temple. "Just be careful. I don't know if Stefan will go for plan B tonight if you fail to show a little humanity."
"Plan B being 'lets just lock her up until I can get my way'?" I rolled my eyes before turning around to face my boyfriend. I knew that he would watch my back and let me know if anyone walked up behind me, especially if it was one of the annoying people who wanted me to turn on my humanity before I was ready.
"That's the one," Damon nodded, brushing my hair away from my face. "He also mentioned something about asking Ric to compel your humanity back on, but I don't think he will do that. Partly because Ric might not know how to use his compulsion yet."
"Well, let's hope that he hasn't yet learnt," I sighed, shaking my head. "Because I will say now, if he tries to compel me, things will get ugly. And they will get ugly, fast."
"If Ric does try, then we know that it will be Stefan's fault. And then I will personally hold him down for you, so that you can rip out his spine."
"Aw babe, you're too sweet," I pressed a quick kiss to his cheek. "You know how much I love ripping out spines."
"You do have a weird obsession with it," my boyfriend rolled his eyes at me, but there was an indulgent look in his eyes. Even with my humanity gone, he wasn't one to deny me anything. Even if that anything was ripping out spines.
"I think I got the idea from True Blood," I mused, looking to the side when I saw Matt approach Bonnie and Alaric. I had heard that the witch, the quarterback and the prom organiser had gone together as friends. It was quite sad, really. All three of them could have got dates, but they decided to not put the effort in. Ah well, it was just another thing for me to torment them over. "And it looked cool so I figured, if I was going to have a thing during my 'evil' phase, I might as well have a cool thing."
"Who referred to this as your 'evil' phase?"
"Caroline has said it a couple of times to Stefan, but I don't think she knew that I was listening in. And I'm pretty sure that Jeremy called it that too, but I didn't really pay that much attention to the text message."

When Damon eventually left to go speak to Jenna, I walked over to the booze-free punchbowl and poured myself a drink. The girl behind the counter tried to catch my eye, a hopeful look in her eyes. But I ignored her. I couldn't even remember her name. So I assumed that I didn't really know her.
As I turned around to find somewhere to sit, preferably away from Rebekah as I really couldn't be bothered to deal with the mopey blonde, I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. I rolled my eyes as I turned to face Alaric, Matt and Bonnie. So it seemed as though Plan A had begun. Ugh, I definitely wasn't drunk enough for this.
Before the three in front of me could even open their mouths to speak, I gave the witch a smirk, "Bonnie, I'm surprised that you came over to see me. I figured that you would be ignoring me, considering you are failing to honour your promise. I mean, you didn't like it when I pointed that out earlier, so I don't know why you would put yourself in that position again."
Bonnie glanced at Alaric before taking a deep breath, "Because I was hoping that you had thought about your request. And how unreasonable it was."
"Asking for you to live up to your promise to bring back my dead sister isn't unreasonable, Bon," I scoffed, shaking my head. When the witch flinched, Matt rested a protective hand on her shoulder. And that was when Alaric spoke my name with a warning tone. I rolled my eyes before glancing at him, "Alaric, really isn't a pleasure to see you. Tell me, have you killed anyone yet?"
My aunt's boyfriend gave me a look, one full of parental disappointment, before shaking his head, "Stefan and Caroline have been helping me learn control."
I snorted, "A blood junkie is helping you learn control? Please, that's just a bad joke. Stefan is the worst teacher, if I had let him teach me control, then I would have an even higher body count. And as for Caroline," I whistled between my teeth, "She never struggled with control. And you can't teach something that you don't know, especially when it comes to the bloodlust." I shrugged. "Ah well, when you do eat someone, at least you know who to blame."
"Alexa, why are you being like this?" Matt asked, frowning at me. Normally the sad look in his eyes would have me frantically searching for a way to fix it. But now, it was just annoying. He didn't get to be sad over my attitude. He was the one who told me to not give up hope. He told me that he would do anything to bring his sister back. Unfortunately for him, he didn't have the opportunity back then. But I did. And I was just clinging onto hope in order to bring Elena back to life.
"Why am I being like this?" I repeated in a mocking tone before rolling my eyes. "You lot started this. All you had to do was leave me be, let me do the spells required to bring my twin back to life. But no, you just had to interfere. To force me to turn my humanity back on before I was ready. Even compel me to force it on." When Alaric flinched, I raised an eyebrow at him. "Ah, so Stefan has asked you to do it then. Guess I get to rip his spine out now. Good to know."
"We just want you back, Alexa," Alaric sighed heavily, his hand twitching by his side. I knew that being in a room filled with human bodies was killing him right now. There was no way that he had learnt enough control that he would be comfortable here. And yet, here he was. Because the others had persuaded him that he had to interfere in my life.
"Okay, let's imagine this," I crossed my arms, narrowing my eyes. "Say I did turn it back on before I was ready, while Elena was still dead, do you honestly think that you would have me back? I would be so consumed with grief that I wouldn't be a person; I would be a shell. Hell, ask Stefan or Caroline, they saw what I was like in those final few hours before I turned it off. Elena's death broke me. And you lot just want to keep me broken."
"You could heal from that, Lexa," Mattie shook his head, a pained look in his eyes. "That pain wouldn't last forever."
"With people like you in my life?" I scoffed, rolling my eyes. "You won't even look at poor Rebekah, even though she has been practically begging you all night. It's been kind of pathetic, not gonna lie. How do I know that you lot would want to be around me after what I have done? That you won't just reject me because now that I'm 'fixed' you see no need for me. I'm not stupid. I know how this works. I've seen what has happened to other vampires when their humanity came back, especially Damon. Nah, I don't want any of that."
"It won't be like that," Bonnie protested weakly, stepping closer to Matt when I glanced at her. I knew that she regretted drawing my attention to her. Because she knew what I would say. And she knew that she wouldn't like it.
"You're right, hon," I smiled sharply, enjoying the witch's wince. "It won't be like that. Because you will bring Elena back to life before I turn it back on. That is what will happen. And the sooner you all accept that; the easier life will be for everyone."
"And if we don't?" Alaric asked quietly, a regretful look in his eyes as he asked the question. I got the feeling that he didn't really want to know the answer, but he felt an obligation to ask the question.
"Then it will get messy."

It wasn't long later that I was in Damon's arms. He had whisked me away from the cheerleading squad when I started to get a murderous look in my eyes. It was only because they kept going on about how amazing Caroline was for organising this. And I really wasn't in the mood to hear nice things about the blonde.
My boyfriend had a weird look in his eyes as he led me to the edge of the dance floor. He placed his hands on my hips as he glanced around the room. I stared up at him with a raised eyebrow as I wrapped my arms around his neck, completely eliminating any respectful distance that there had been. I had caught him talking to Stefan before he rescued the cheerleading squad. Clearly the younger Salvatore had said something that had gotten inside my boyfriend's head. And I wasn't particularly impressed with that.
"I heard what you told the others," Damon eventually murmured, those gorgeous eyes glancing down to meet mine. "Do you really believe that?"
I shrugged as his fingers moved to stroke the skin at my lower back, drawing nonsensical patterns on my skin, "I saw how they treated you when your humanity came back. They haven't even tried to separate your actions from when you had your humanity turned off from the person that you are now. Oh, they play a good game at forgiving you but they never let you forget what you have done. They continue to hold it over your head. And I know that they will do the same with me. It will be continuous guilt trips and I really cannot be bothered to deal with that. If it wasn't for the promise that I had made my sister, I would be tempted to just ditch town forever."
"And leave everyone behind?" my boyfriend asked, his voice soft as he glanced around the room. But the way that he clutched onto me said more that his words did.
"Well, everyone except you," I smirked, before narrowing my eyes at the slightly worried look buried in those silver depths. Ah, so this was the reason behind his peculiar behaviour. Was Damon worried that I didn't want him anymore? I knew that I hadn't done anything to indicate that. But maybe Stefan had been whispering naughty little words in his ear. And if that was the case, then I would be doing more than just ripping his spine out. I moved my hands to cup Damon's face, forcing him to meet my gaze as my thumbs stroked those amazing cheekbones. "I still want you, Damon. Even with my humanity gone, you're mine. And I'm never going to let you go."
"Even if I can't protect you from the others attempts to force your humanity back on?" my boyfriend sighed, pulling me closer to him. We were barely dancing at this point, our hips swayed in tune to the music but I had lost track of what song was playing. Every inch of my body was pressed against his, almost as though he never wanted to let me go. Not that I would let him. Even with my humanity on vacation, my body burned for him. My soul burned for him. I didn't want to let Damon go and I wouldn't let anything force that to happen.
"Come on, Day, you know how possessive I am," I whispered in his ear, holding onto him just as tightly as he was holding onto me. My fingers curled into the jacket of his tux as I kept his body pressed against mine. My boyfriend's grip on my hips was so tight, that I would have bruises if I was human. The gap between our bodies was non-existent as every movement had his shirt brushing against the skin that the dress revealed. "If you think that I am ever going to let someone take you from me, then you've let someone get into your head. I would rather burn this town to the ground then lose you."
"I know that you won't say it back right now, but I love you, Alexa," Damon lips brushed against mine, as his fingers stroked a line up my back before cupping my face. His other hand continued to press on my lower back, holding my body close to his as his thumb brushed my cheek. "Even with your humanity gone."
"And that is why I can still find it within myself to care about you, Damon," my thumb brushed against his lips. "You have done nothing but support me, even if you don't always agree with my actions. That is the man that I chose all those months ago. And that is the man that I will continue to choose."
Damon didn't verbally reply to my words. Instead, he pulled me in for one of the softest kisses that I had ever experienced from him. I cupped his face as his lips slotted against mine, like they were made for each other. He kissed me like I was made of glass, even as his grip on my body was just a bit too tight. And for the first time since I turned it off, for the first time in months, I felt something crack inside of me. A tiny piece had fallen off that wall around my humanity. And I couldn't even bring myself to seal it back up. Not with the way that Damon sighed against my lips, the way that he murmured my name, tucking my head against his shoulder, his fingers tangled in my hair. Not with the way that his hand pressed against my back, a barrier against the rest of the world.
I wrapped my arms around him, holding him close as I realised that this relationship could bring my humanity back before I was ready. But I didn't want to destroy it. I meant what I said before. Damon was mine and I would never let him go. Even if it meant destroying everything that I had planned.
XXX
It wasn't until he was summoned away by his brother that Damon let me go. But even then, I could see the reluctance in his eyes. I could feel it in his body. From the way that his fingers dragged against my skin before he finally stepped away. He glanced me up and down before that confident spark finally returned to his eyes. He gave me a nod before sighing "I'll be back soon."
"I know you will," I gave him a wink before watching as he slowly walked away. Honestly, I would definitely beat Stefan halfway to hell for making my boyfriend doubt our relationship. The younger Salvatore knew that I would never give Damon up. Unless this was a part of his plan to force my humanity back and if that was the case, then I would be even more pissed. Seeing my boyfriend in such a vulnerable state would only harden my heart against the rest of the group.
I moved to sit at one of the tables near the entrance, looking out at the dancing teens. I was tempted to see if I could lure one to somewhere private, so that I could have a snack. It wasn't that I was hungry, I was just bored. And if I got a bite to eat, then I was less likely to rip out Stefan's kidney in public. Because it was an incredibly tempting thought.
Fortunately, before I could actually decide on which teen I should try and eat, a different distraction walked into the tent. I couldn't stop the smirk forming on my lips as Caroline walked in, glancing around with a pleased look on her face. Ah this was just wonderful. I could torment her and she couldn't even be a bitch in return, because that would go against Stefan's plan. And considering she spent most of her time kissing his ass, she would never disobey him.
"Caroline, it's about time that you turned up," I couldn't hide my amusement as the blonde winced before looking over at me with a strained smile. "You were almost late for missing out on being prom queen. Because we both know that you aren't going to win it this year."
"Why? Have you compelled April into not giving it to me?" the other vampire snapped before taking a deep breath. "I don't mind if I don't win. I was junior prom queen and I am the former Miss Mystic Falls. Being the prom queen isn't the end of the world."
"How many times have you repeated that in the mirror to make it seem like you actually mean it?" I laughed, pushing myself to my feet and sauntering closer to her. "Because, hon, you didn't do it enough."
"Maybe I'm just not feeling prom this year," Caroline shook her head, her earrings swaying. She looked more emotional than I was expecting. Which was a bonus. I didn't even need to do much to get under her skin. Although it did somewhat ruin the fun of tormenting her.
"Oh, you mean because your boyfriend is MIA?" I raised an eyebrow before nodding. "Yeah, that would ruin it for you. Especially since he didn't even try sneaking back into town for you. Ah well, life sucks and shit happens. Guess you'll just have to spend your time ruining everyone else's prom." I paused before gasping dramatically, "Unless you have already started and that's why you were late?"
The blonde narrowed her eyes at me, "I was late because I was getting ready."
"Yeah, I can see why it would take you so long," I shrugged, clasping my hands behind my back. "Especially with that dress. It just doesn't suit you, Care. You aren't posh enough to pull it off. It's a shame really, it's a nice dress."
"You helped me pick it out," the other vampire ground out through clenched teeth before glancing behind me. "I'm going to go check on the others." With that said, she swept past me, knocking into my side as she did so. I just laughed and rolled my eyes. I definitely felt better after that. She was just so easy to get a reaction out of. Maybe it was because I kicked her ass the last time that we spoke.
"That wasn't very nice," a voice remarked from behind me and I cursed.
"For fuck sake," I turned around and crossed my arms. Stefan was watching me with a raised eyebrow, a disapproving look in his eyes. "Can't you just leave me alone? Because I have to tell you, I am very close to ripping out your spine and just beating you to death with it."
"Am I frustrating you, Alexa?" the younger Salvatore stepped forward, moving so that he was in my personal space. "You know what you need to do to get rid of me. And I'll be there to help you through it. I'm on your side, Alexa. I just want what's best for you."
"And does that include putting doubts in Damon's head about our relationship?" I narrowed my eyes, giving the older vampire a shove. "If you were on my side, you wouldn't try and get rid of my biggest supporter. Unless you disapprove of the fact that Damon won't betray me and force me to do something that I don't want to do."
"Look," Stefan sighed, grabbing my arm as I went to push past him. "I just want to help you, Alexa. The sooner you turn it back on, the sooner I can help you with your grief."
"You know, Stefan, considering how much you claim to have loved my sister, you are doing your best to betray her," I smiled sharply, grabbing the arm that held mine. "Not only are you refusing to help me bring her back, even though there is an easy way to do so. You are disrespecting her by disrespecting me. You were so quick to honour and defend her choices, even if it put her in danger. And yet, you won't do the same for me." I tutted and shook my head. "I wonder what she will say about that when I bring her back to life."

Rebekah was still sitting on her own, being viciously ignored by Matt. I did pity the blonde, even if I did think that she was an idiot. She either should have chosen another day to make her deal with Elijah or she should have just stayed at home. Because it was quite pathetic seeing her sitting there, unable to compel herself a friend for the night.
So while I waited for Damon to finish doing whatever it was that he was doing, I made my way over to the Original sister. Rebekah glanced up as I sat down next to her, a depressed look in her eyes, "This isn't going how I thought it would."
"Well, duh," I rolled my eyes, stealing an unattended drink and sipping from it. Damn, the punch was still alcohol free. "I don't know what you were expecting. Has anyone come over to talk to you?"
"No, and every time I go to talk to Matt, he brushes me off," Rebekah moped, glancing over at the voting station. "Not even April will help me out by doing me a favour and making me prom queen."
I couldn't help but laugh at that, "Did you seriously ask her that? Oh hon, she kind of hates you now. I can't blame her, she helped you one time and then she nearly died. If you want to be prom queen that much, I can go threaten her for you."
"No, I want to win this the right way," the blonde shook her head, her hair brushing against her shoulder. "I need to do this properly, so that I can get the cure."
"But Rebekah, I don't think you've realised that you won't win your little bet by just being yourself. And if you try, you'll just see how miserable it is to be human. Just let me help you, then you can take the cure and maybe Stefan will back the fuck off for a bit."
"And if Elijah finds out that I've cheated?"
"So what if he finds out? As long as you have taken the cure, there's nothing that he can do except be all disapproving. And I can teach you how to deal with that, since Stefan has been nothing but disapproving since I turned it off. Why he thinks he can persuade me to turn it back on is ridiculous. He is the last person that can get me to do it."
Rebekah looked at me, "He's really getting to you, isn't he?"
I just rolled my eyes, "It's cos he is trying to fuck with Damon's head. And I don't appreciate that. Trying to take away my one supporter is one thing, trying to ruin my relationship is unforgivable. And I will make him pay for that. But first, let's get you that cure and piss off Caroline at the same time."
I ignored the Original trying to get my attention as I stood up and walked in April's direction. As Miss Mystic Falls, she was in charge of voting for the prom king and queen. It was quite hilarious really. The poor girl looked so out of her depth. She just kept her hands on the table, fingers twitching by the box whenever someone came over to vote.
"April, long time no see," I smiled sharply as I stood in front of the girl. She looked at me with wide eyes before looking around the room. It was almost as though she was looking for someone to save her. Which was hilariously adorable. "What's happening in your life?"
"I'm drinking vervain tea," April blurted out, moving to step away from the table. But I used my vampire speed to grab her wrist, preventing her from getting away. "They warned me about you. That you're… different now. You can't compel me into getting what you want."
"Oh please, compulsion is so last year," I snorted before squeezing her wrist. The girl let out a pained gasp, staring up at me with wet eyes. "So, unless you want me to break your wrist, you're going to make Rebekah prom queen. I'll even put a vote in the box, to make it look realistic."
"And if I don't?" April whimpered, glancing behind me. I looked over my shoulder to see Rebekah approaching us. She had a worried look in her eyes as she glanced between me and April.
"Oh, sweetheart, I really don't think that you want to know the consequences of disobeying me," I smirked, letting my face change for a moment before letting go of her wrist. "Now, if you tell anyone about this conversation, I may have to just prove that just because you drink vervain tea, doesn't mean that I can't hurt you. Have a nice evening."
April stared at me, paralysed with fear, as I gave her a wink before walking away. Rebekah stared at the girl for a moment before chasing after me, hissing, "I told you that I didn't want you to threaten her."
"And what makes you think that I care," I shrugged, looking out amongst the dancing teens. "All you have to do is not break any of Elijah's rules and let me deal with the rest of it. Do you think that you can do that? Or do I need to compel you a date to keep you occupied for the rest of the night?"
"No, I can do what you need," the blonde nodded, watching me with wide eyes. "You've changed. You weren't this angry when we were dress shopping."
"Yeah, that's what happens when people try to destroy my relationship," I rolled my eyes, spying a stumbling teen sneak out of the tent. "It makes me angry. Now all the others have to realise is that I will take that anger out on innocent bystanders. And I don't give a fuck if it will make life harder for me when I eventually turn my humanity back on. I want them to suffer now."
I could feel Rebekah's eyes on me as I walked away, following after my snack.

When I returned to the tent, wiping the blood from my lips, I rolled my eyes as I was immediately ambushed by my two remaining family members. Jenna and Jeremy stood in front of me, holding hands as they watched me with wary eyes. I crossed my arms as I stared at them, "So, what do you two want?"
"We just wanted to see you," Jenna's voice was soft as her free hand rested on her baby bump. The movement drew my attention and I could hear the heart beating within. It was a strong and steady beat. Which meant that the events of the past few months hadn't impacted the unborn baby. "You've been avoiding us."
"Well, duh," I snorted, wondering if the fact that they had cornered me in the quiet part of the tent meant that I couldn't escape as easily. Any noise that I made could be heard. And because of the lack of crowd, if I sped away and the wrong person saw, it would cause a fuss. Which I really couldn't be bothered to deal with. Because I would only be berated for killing the unfortunate person before they tattled. "I knew that you two will pull out all the stops to get me turn my humanity back on. And I really couldn't be bothered to deal with that. Not until I had done everything that I needed to."
"We miss you, Lexa," my brother stared at me with those big brown eyes that reminded me so much of our sister. He went to reach out to me before hesitating, his hand hovering in the air between us. It was the first time that he had every hesitated. Even when his hunter instincts were taking control, he never hesitated to touch me. Not like this. It was a sign of what had changed. "We need you back."
"You know that I'm doing this for you, right?" I raised an eyebrow as Jeremy tucked his hand back in his pocket. "I'm making sure that you don't lose another family member. I couldn't bring John back, or mom and dad. But I can bring Elena back. So why don't you two leave me alone until I've done that?"
"But what if you can't?" Jenna pushed, a tired look in her eyes. I avoided her gaze, instead staring out over her shoulder. I could see Alaric looking his way, staring at his girlfriend with worried eyes. The Salvatore brothers were in a heated discussion. I was surprised to see Matt actually talking to Rebekah. She must have finally worn him down. Although since I couldn't see Bonnie or Caroline anywhere, maybe he was just desperate to talk to someone. "I lost one niece; I can't lose another."
"Elena's absence is temporarily," I muttered as I saw Alaric start to walk over to us. He must have heard the emotion in Jenna's voice. I had heard it too, that warning sign before the tears started to form. But I couldn't do anything about it. I had to harden my empty heart against it. Because I couldn't risk my humanity trying to fight through. It was bad enough that Damon had damaged that wall, I couldn't let Jenna do the same. "And then when she is back, you'll have one niece to look after before I turn it back on."
"How do we know that you will turn it back on?" Jeremy pushed, staring at me as Alaric arrived to help Jenna into a chair. "You could just try to run away from your guilt over what you have done. How do I know that I will get my sister back?"
"That's a fair question," I shrugged, nodding my head as my brother grabbed my hand. I stared down at it, remembering why I had tried so hard to avoid him. The little shit could get me to turn it back on without any manipulation. And damn, that was annoying. "Right now, I have every intention of turning it back on. But hey, you're right, that might change. All you need to think about right now is how you can look after Jenna. Worry about me when Elena is back in the land of the living."
"We can't just forget about you, Lexa," Alaric spoke up for the first time, having checked that Jenna was okay. "We still love you, even after everything that you've done."
"And how much do you know about what I have been up to? Or has Stefan tried to protect you from it?" I clenched my hands into fists as I tried to ignore the crack in my wall slowly start to grow. "Because my hands are covered in blood and I don't care. I'll kill even more people if it means bringing Elena back. Tell me, how can you even look at me? How can you bear to be around me after what I've done?"
"Because you lost Elena," my aunt looked up at me with sad eyes. "You lost your other half. Even when you were human, I knew that you wouldn't deal with it well. I guess you being a vampire just made it even harder. I know that you've done some bad things, but I will never reject you because of that."
I stared at her, hearing the sincerity in her voice, in her heartbeat, and cursed, "Damn you all. This is why I've been avoiding you." I looked at Alaric, "Take Jenna and Jeremy home. You've all made your point. Just give me time to think about it. But I'm warning you, tonight will get ugly if certain don't stop pushing me. And I don't want these two around to see it."
I could tell that the other vampire wasn't impressed with my words, but he still nodded and helped Jenna to her feet. But then, in a move that I never expected, my aunt and my brother both stepped forward in unison and wrapped their arms around me. I froze in their hug as they squeezed me with all their strength, almost forcing their love upon me. Alaric reached out to rest a gentle hand on my shoulder as Jenna whispered in my ear, "I love you, Lexa. Please come home to me soon."

After I had made myself feel better by eating another student, I leant against a tree, staring into the tent. The thin fabric meant that I could see the teens dancing on the dancefloor, looking like they were having the time of their lives. And it all felt so pointless. There was no fun in tormenting them. All they wanted to do was dance at their prom and graduate high school and go to college. Using them for more than a meal was a waste of my time.
I sighed and shook my head, debating whether it was worth just grabbing Damon and leaving, when a hand tapped my shoulder. I frowned and glanced to the side, only to raise a shocked eyebrow when I saw Tyler Lockwood standing beside me. He had his hand held out, a charming smile on his face, "Do I get to have a dance? Or is Damon the only one who gets to have that honour?"
"Well, I can't exactly say no," I rolled my eyes, placing my hand in his. Tyler gave me a happy smile, as he tugged me further into the woods and away from the tent. I was definitely surprised to see him. Especially here. Where Klaus could be lurking, looking for more lives to ruin. Once he was happy that we were deep enough into the woods, Ty rested one hand on my waist and I placed my free hand on his shoulder. As we began to dance to the distance music, I couldn't help but remark, "Not that I'm happy to see you, but aren't you taking a big risk being here? I mean, is prom really that important to you?"
"Maybe I just wanted to see you, Alex," my adopted brother sighed, shaking his head as he pulled me slightly closer. "Caroline has been keeping me update on what has been happening, even if I haven't been able to get back to her." Ty looked me straight in the eye, the sympathy in those brown depths banging against the wall around my humanity. "I'm so sorry for what happened, Alex. You should never have lost your sister and I'm sorry that I haven't been around to help you deal with it."
"Eh, I've found my own way of dealing with the temporary loss," I shrugged, glancing away as I internally cursed my weakness. I should be stronger than this. And yet, so many people had wormed their way past my defences this evening. It was intolerable. I had to do something about it.
"Caroline mentioned that you had turned it off," Tyler nodded, looking at me without judgement. And I hated that even more. How could I fight that off? I needed him to curse me and yell at me and call me out for all the horrible things that I had done, especially to his girlfriend.
"Well, it was the only way that I could do what was needed to bring Elena back," I cleared my throat, refusing to make eye contact with the hybrid. I couldn't bring myself to see the sympathy there, the love. It was too much. "And… I needed a way to escape the guilt. Elena was dead because of me. I forced her to leave my side and that action led to her death."
"You feel as though you failed her," Ty breathed out, an understanding look on his face. His grip on me tightened slightly, almost as though he wanted to squeeze the pain and guilt from my body. It was a sweet thought, but a useless one. I had turned off my humanity. And so, I didn't feel guilty anymore. Not about my sister's death and not about the deaths that I had caused. All of that guilt was gone forever. "And you couldn't deal with that."
"Yep," I nodded. "And besides, by turning it off, I could kill the people that needed to die for Bonnie's expression triangle. And I would feel no guilt in lowering the veil to bring Elena back to life." At the surprised look on Tyler's face, I rolled my eyes, "Did Caroline forget to mention that part? Doesn't surprise me, she isn't my biggest fan right now."
"She did mention something about a cheerleading incident," the hybrid spoke slowly, his gaze studying my face. "Although she didn't want to go into much detail. She just said how much you had changed."
"I just stopped caring if I hurt her feelings," I snorted. "Apparently she has a lot of feelings to hurt. But speaking of your girlfriend, shouldn't you be with her? Because I have to say, she won't be impressed if she finds out that you spent prom with me and not her."
"She's my next stop," Tyler stopped dancing, instead pulling me in for a hug. "I just wanted to find you first and tell you how sorry I was for what happened. And that I can't be here to help you through it. I hate that I have to leave town again."
"Well, maybe if you're lucky, I'll shove the cure down Klaus' throat instead of letting Rebekah take it," I rolled my eyes as I patted my adopted brother's back. "That should teach him some manners."
"As wonderful a thought as that is," Ty sighed, resting his forehead against my shoulder. "I don't think that will happen. It's okay, we're immortal, we'll see each other again."
"Maybe once I've gotten sick of this town, I'll track you down and we can hang out for a few decades. Besides, it isn't like Klaus is putting much effort into hunting you. He just seems to be hanging around town like a bad spell."
"That's a good thing, Alex. We don't want him hunting me."
"That is true," I carefully shrugged as I felt that shield around my humanity, stopping it from taking over again, crack once more. But even then, I couldn't stop myself from pressing a kiss to Tyler's cheek. "For what it's worth, I do miss you, Ty. And I wish that you could come home."
"I'm surprised to hear that, considering your current mental state," my adopted brother murmured into my skin and I sighed.
"Tonight has been a frustratingly difficult night."

After Tyler left to go find Caroline at the Lockwood mansion, I returned to the tent. I paused as I entered. Bonnie, Matt, Stefan and Damon were gathered together near the edge of the room, talking quietly. I raised an eyebrow and listened in. Because those four gathered together didn't mean anything good. Especially not for me. They were probably plotting a way for Bonnie trap me somewhere while Stefan tries to work out what his Plan C is. Especially since his Plan A had horrifically failed. I mean, yes, the wall around my humanity was cracking, but I could fix that. And if Stefan never found out, then he would never know that his plan had a chance of working.
Huh.
What I heard was so far from what I was expecting that it took me a moment to process it. Apparently Silas had also decided that attending a high school senior prom was an effective use of his immortal life. The mysterious being had appeared to Bonnie as my dead sister. Which was an interesting choice. Not one that I would have expected. But considering I didn't know what he looked like, maybe it was a better choice that appearing as himself.
I sensed Rebekah walk up behind me as I continued to eavesdrop on the others. She went to speak but I held up a hand, shushing her. I wanted to get as much information as I could before I let her speak. Because if Silas was making a move, I needed to know if it could benefit me. Or if I had to step in to keep Bonnie safe.
"It's like Elena was there," the witch was saying, staring at the Salvatore brothers with wide eyes. "I could talk to her, feel her."
Hm, maybe Silas' manipulations could help me get what I wanted. It was one thing me telling Bonnie that she was failing Elena by not helping me. But if the immortal being was using Elena's face to do the same, then it would be a lot more effective.
"Bonnie, that's what Silas does," Stefan was quick to say, resting a sympathetic hand on her shoulder. "You can't let him get to you again."
"Yeah, because you all crazy and brainwashed is just not a good look," Damon rolled his eyes before catching my gaze. He raised an eyebrow at me but didn't seem too surprised by my eavesdropping. I just gave him a wink and rested a finger against my lips. He shook his head at me before focussing his attention back on the witch.
"What am I missing?" the Original behind me finally asked, unable to deal with the silence any longer. She lasted longer than I thought she would. But still, it was annoying. This only using human abilities deal was getting quite annoying. And for once, the blonde had decided to be honourable and actually complete the deal without cheating.
"If you actually used your superior hearing, you would already know," I rolled my eyes before sighing. "Apparently Silas has joined the party. He appeared to Bonnie, looking like Elena. And we all know what that means." At Rebekah's blank look, I shook my head. "He still needs Bonnie to complete the spell to lower the veil to the other side. Come on, Rebekah, we both know that you aren't that thick."
The Original ignored my little dig, "So? The nice thing about having no humanity is that you don't fear your enemies on the other side."
"Oh, I don't care about the dead lot on the other side," I smirked, my mind whirring. "No, what this means is that I have a potential ally in my quest to bring Elena back to life. She's on the other side and he wants access to it. If we work together, maybe we can both get our way. I guess it's time for me to have a chat with this mysterious man."
God, it was so simple. How did I not think about this before? Of course Silas could be an ally. We both wanted the same thing. And between us, it would be ridiculously easy to manipulate Bonnie into doing the spell. I was actually mad at myself for not considering it before.
"That sounds far too dangerous," Rebekah immediately rejected my idea, shaking her head. "What if he doesn't want your help? What will you do then? We don't know what he is capable of. He could kill you."
"Oh, I can be quite persuasive when I want to be," I brushed off her words, waving a hand for her to shush as a plan tried to form in my mind. "The hardest part will be actually tracking him down to talk to him. But since I know that he is here tonight, hopefully it shouldn't be that hard. If he has left early, then all I need to do is hang around Bonnie. He is bound to appear to her again at some point. Then it will be easy to grab him for a chat."
"Alexa, you do realise that a part of his plan is to take the cure, right?" the Original hissed, grabbing my arm as I went to leave the tent. "The cure that I want to take? The one that only has one dose."
"So?"
"So if he takes it, then I can't. Don't tell me that you will betray me after working so hard to get me that cure."
"Oh, Rebekah," I gave the blonde a sharp smile before patting her cheek. "You take the cure was just convenient. If Silas helps me persuade Bonnie to bring Elena back to life and takes the cure off the table, then he can have it. I don't care who takes it, as long as no one tries to shove it down my throat." When Rebekah stared at me with an offended look, I rolled my eyes. "Look, if I get Silas on side before he takes the cure, I'll do what I can to give it to you. But I make no promises. You knew what my priority was before we teamed up. Don't act so surprised now."

While Rebekah stared at me with wide eyes, April took to the stage. The girl glanced out at the expectant crowd as the music quietened. It was clear that she hated being centre of attention like this. Her time as Miss Mystic Falls had done nothing to improve her confidence. She cleared her throat before speaking into the microphone, "Hey everyone. Okay, the ballots have been tallied, which means that it's time to announce this year's prom king and queen."
I tapped my lips in thought, still plotting away while the girl spoke. Although I couldn't help but notice the red mark still visible on her wrist. I did wonder how she had managed to explain it away but considering she was using the microphone to hide the worst of it, I think she had just hidden until she had no choice but to appear on stage. It wasn't exactly creative, but hey, if it worked, who was I to judge.
On the other side of the room, the others were still talking. Apparently they had finished analysing Bonnie's conversation with Silas as Stefan was saying, "Look, one of us should take her home. Or at least take her to Jeremy's."
"What? No," Damon immediately scoffed, shaking his head. "She's safer here in public around all these people. There's no way that Silas can make everyone see the same thing all at once. And besides, we can't take her to Jeremy's. That could put Jenna at risk, which I won't let happen."
"Okay, in the meantime," Matt, ever the voice of reason, spoke up as the brothers' glared at each other. "How do we look out for a guy that can appear as anyone?"
Their conversation was rudely interrupted by April announcing, "Alright, your prom king and queen are… Matt Donovan and Bonnie Bennett!"
Everyone cheered as the spotlight moved from April to shine on Matt and Bonnie. They stared at each other in shock while everyone applauded. I saw the witch glance at Damon with a helpless look, but my boyfriend just shrugged before gesturing for her to head to the stage. It wasn't like he could speed her away. Everyone was looking at them, cheering and clapping wildly as they welcome their prom king and queen. It was such a weird thing, but hey, who was I to complain. It meant that I knew exactly where Bonnie was, and that she wasn't being whisked away. There was a risk that if Bonnie left, then Silas would leave. And I couldn't let that happen without speaking to him first.
As the two humans left the group, I saw Stefan glance over in our direction. Damn, now that Bonnie was safe in the spotlight, it seemed as though the younger Salvatore was focusing once again on his mission to get my humanity back. That would interfere with all of my new plans. And I refused to let that happen. I glanced over at Damon but he was busy staring down at his phone, a frown on his face. My guess was that it was an update from Alaric, but I couldn't guarantee that. Either way, he wasn't keeping an eye on his brother. And that meant that Stefan was free to interfere in all the annoying ways that he was good at.
"Bonnie Blood Bennett," Rebekah shook her head, sounding so disappointed as we watched the witch get crowned. "Of course. Looks like your threats did absolutely nothing."
"Soz, hon," I shrugged as I ignored Stefan's gaze. It was getting quite annoying. I had been enjoying my peace. Guess I had enjoyed it too much, since the other vampire was determined to destroy it. Even if Rebekah's words did remind me that April had gone against me. And I was not impressed by that. Not at all. Guess I would just have to teach the girl a lesson. "Don't suppose you fancy doing something to distract Stefan for me?"
"Why? So you can carry out your plan to betray me," the blonde muttered petulantly, crossing her arms as she glared up at the stage. I rolled my eyes. I had forgotten just how emotional Rebekah could get. And just how annoying it was. It wasn't like this was new information. She knew that the only reason why I helped her was to take the cure out of play. And now that someone else had come along that also wanted the cure but could actually help me get Bonnie to do the spell, it was only natural that I would want to team up with them instead.
"It really is frustrating that you can't just compel yourself a friend for the night," I shook my head. "That way you could actually storm off and not just hang around me like a pathetic like bug." When the Original ignored my words, I muttered, "Guess I'll have to find a way to distract Stefan myself."
I looked back at the stage where April was beaming at Bonnie and Matt. My distraction couldn't involve Bonnie getting hurt. No. I needed to keep the witch safe and alive. After all, there was no spell without her. I could always hurt Matt, but I couldn't guarantee that I would be able to get him away from Bonnie. And, again, I couldn't risk her getting hurt. Caroline had left early otherwise she would be a pretty good distraction, since Stefan had already swopped in to rescue her from my harsh words once tonight. Ugh, why did the blonde have to leave the moment that she became useful? Honestly, it was like both the blonde vampires in my life existed just to annoy me.
But maybe…
My gaze turned to April and I couldn't stop the vicious smirk from forming on my face. She had already pissed me off by ignoring my threat and not rigging the vote in Rebekah's favour. Maybe I could teach her a lesson and still create a distraction for me to sneak away. Ah, I loved a win-win situation.

When April left the stage to run away from all the attention, I followed her to the back room. Most of the room were distracted by the pair on the stage, taking photos of them or just generally vibing to the music which had been turned up again. Stefan had taken his gaze off of me for a moment, when Damon had muttered something under his breath. And so, I took that opportunity to disappear to the back room.
April had her back to me when I entered, moving the fabric of the tent out of the way so that I didn't disturb the beads, taking deep breaths as she recovered from all of the attention. I got a better view of the mark on her wrist when she rested her hands on the table. It would definitely bruise. And since the weather was getting warmer, it would be a lot harder for the kid to hide it. Ah well, it would be the least of her worries when I was done with her.
I cooed her name, smirking when the girl spun around with a gasp. She went to back away from her, but the table blocked her. My smirk grew dangerous as I slowly walked towards the kid, "Oh April, honey, you really shouldn't have disobeyed me. Even if I do admire your courage, it was definitely the wrong move."
April swallowed hard as I came to a stop right in front of her, glancing over my shoulder at the beading covering the entrance. It didn't look like anyone was heading this way. And that meant that no one was coming to help her. No one would interrupt what was about to happen. I reached out to cup the girl's face as she whimpered, "What are you going to do to me?"
"See, that's what I haven't decided," I sighed, my thumbs stroking her cheeks as the girl tried to fight back tears. I kept my touch gentle, knowing that she was close to breaking and I hadn't even hurt her yet. "There are just so many options. Do I kill you? Do I hurt you and make you scream? Or do I go for the darkest option?"
The kid repeated, her voice thick with fear, "The darkest option?" but I ignored her words. I could hear everything happening behind me, so I knew that I had time to decide. Because while I knew that I wanted to use April as a distraction, I just didn't know how I wanted to do so. Did I go for something temporary, and risk Stefan interrupting my chat with Silas. Or did I really do some damage and create a permanent distraction. It wasn't the most desirable choice. But it was the necessary one. I had already said that I would do whatever it took to bring my sister back to life. It was why my humanity was gone. This just fell under that whatever it took category.
"See, sweetheart, I never really considered doing this, because it felt too much, even for me, even with my humanity gone," I pressed a kiss to her forehead before letting my face change. The girl's heartbeat increased dramatically at the sight of my monstrous face. "But I need you to keep Stefan and the others distracted for longer than an hour. And unfortunately, this is the only way. With everything else, they could just heal you and come looking for me."
"Please don't hurt me," April broke, tears streaming down her face as I moved to grip the back of her head with one hand, biting into my wrist with the other. I took advantage of her sobs to force my wrist against her mouth, ensuring that she drank my blood. I kept my wrist against her mouth longer than was necessary, but I couldn't take any chances that this wouldn't work. I had never done this before, so I was acting on instinct more than anything. When I felt the skin heal, I moved it away, wiping away the excess blood on the skin of her shoulder. It clashed vividly with the pale white of her skin. It tarnished the perfection of her beauty, almost like a stain on her soul. I knew then, that what happened to this girl would make or break me. She would either redeem me or curse me forever. But I had to take this risk for Elena. My priority was my twin. My eternal damnation didn't matter, when compared to my twin.
The red liquid was smeared around her face, mixing with the tears that steadily dripped down. The kid looked like a mess and I knew that it would tug against Stefan's heartstrings. He was far too predictable. He had done the same for Caroline. He would have done the same for me, if it wasn't for Damon. He sought to help others to make up for the damage that he had previously done. And now I was created another damaged soul for him to fix.
"If it helps, I do regret what I am about to do," I sighed, my hands wrapping around the girl's neck. But before I could flick my wrists, a horrified voice called out my name. I quickly spun around, holding April's body in front of me as I met Matt's gaze. He stared at me in horror before looking at April.
"April, hey, look at me," he spoke softly, trying to catch the sobbing girl's attention. "It's going to be okay. I promise you; it's going to be fine."
"Oh Mattie," I shook my head. "You really shouldn't make promises that you can't keep." He stared up at me with wide eyes as I flicked my wrists, the following crack echoing around the room. April's lifeless body slumped forward in my arms and I shoved her forward. Matt acted on instinct to catch her, staring down at the girl's face in shock. "Tell Stefan to back the fuck off and leave me alone. If he doesn't, then April won't be my final victim."
"What did you do to her?" the boy whispered, slowly lowering April's body to the floor. He took a tissue out of his pocket, wiping away the blood and tears on the girl's face.
"I used her to send a message," I shrugged, stepping around them. "Stefan is obsessed with helping broken things. Now he can help her instead of bothering me."
With that said, I pushed the beading out of the way and left the room. I could feel Matt's horrified gaze on me as I left but I ignored it. I did what I needed to do. It wasn't like the kid was permanently dead. She would be reborn. And then maybe, she could find the strength that she had been searching for since she returned to town.
Either way, this needed to happen. And now I was finally free to track down Silas without worrying about being stopped.
XXX
It took a surprisingly short amount of time for Silas to find me. I was at the edge of the forest surrounding the school when a painfully familiar voice called out my name. I slowly turned around, a hand over my heart as I met Silas' gaze. The smirk that I got looked so alien on my sister's face. Elena never looked like that. That might have been the only thing that stopped me from regretting this plan. Because while Silas wore my sister's face, it didn't feel like my sister. It was like Katherine. There were important differences. I just needed to focus on those differences. That was how I got through this.
"So, you are the vampire that wants to help me lower the veil," Silas mused, walking closer to me. I held me ground as I met their gaze. "I must admit, I'm surprised that someone wants to help. Most of your little group wants to stop me and they are putting in quite some effort to separate me from my witch."
"Someone very important to me is trapped on the other side and I want to lower the veil to get them back," I shrugged before rolling my eyes at the smirk that appeared. "Oh but of course, you already know that. You're in my head, aren't you? You know what I'm thinking?"
"It is a handy skill," Silas nodded, coming to a stop a couple of steps in front of me. I took a deep breath at the movement. The being in front of me definitely didn't smell human. I couldn't quite describe it, but it was an old smell. But it definitely didn't smell like my sister. That helped me to plaster over the cracks in the wall around my humanity. Just seeing her face was enough to damage it. I just had to continue looking for the differences. I couldn't let my humanity back in now. I had done too much; the guilt would destroy me. But I also had too much left to do. I couldn't afford to break, not now. Not until I had her back. "Especially when I need to find out if someone is genuine. I had to make sure that you weren't luring me into a trap. Since I wouldn't put it past the older Salvatore to use you in his schemes to stop me."
"But you already knew that I was genuine, otherwise you wouldn't have come to me," I crossed my arms, clenching my hands into fists. "And you definitely wouldn't have appeared as my dead twin. You knew that seeing her face would only increase my desire to help you. So tell me, what can I do for you? What part am I to play in your little plan?"
"Bonnie is, regrettably, ignoring my attempts to help her control her magic," they sighed, shaking their head as they paced back and forth in front of me. Even the way that they moved was different to my sister. It was such a small thing but at the same time, it was such an important thing. "And she needs to be able to control her magic to lower the veil."
"You're having the same issue that I am," I rolled my eyes, leaning against the tree behind me. "She refuses to listen to me when I tell her that she is breaking her promise. I don't know what the big deal is. The hard part is done, the expression triangle has been completed. All she needs to do is lower the veil."
"She no longer wants to be controlled," Silas shrugged, before looking over at me with a gleam in their eye. "Tell me, you want to lower the veil to get your sister back. Has anyone told you that you will only have your sister back within the triangle? Elena will never be able to leave this town. That is the downside to this spell."
I let out a vicious curse as I shook my head, "Of course it wouldn't be that easy. God fucking damnit. So tell me, oh powerful Silas, how do I get my sister back permanently? So no one can put the veil back and take her from me forever."
"Once I have taken the cure, I will be able to access my magic again. I will ensure that you get your sister back permanently. And in return, you will get Bonnie to lower the veil to the other side."
"Sounds pretty simple," I narrowed my eyes at the immortal being. It sounded too simple. I knew that it couldn't be this easy. Silas had no reason to accept my help. Unless they knew something about Bonnie that I didn't. Because right now, Silas was in a better position to manipulate the witch into doing what we wanted, by using my dead sister's face. "What's the catch? Because I know that you aren't doing this out of the goodness of your heart."
"If you fail me, then I will kill every single person that you care about in the most painful way possible. After I have forced you to let your humanity back in. Bonnie will listen to you over me, if you tell her to leave Elena at peace. You don't quite know just how much influence you and your dead sister have over the young witch."
"Good thing that I don't plan on failing then," I ground out, taking a step forward. "But here's my warning to you, if you fail to bring my sister back to life, I will raise that veil again. And then I will kill Bonnie, leaving you without a witch that you can use to try again."
"Well, it seems as though we have a deal," Silas smirked, holding out their hand. Despite a small voice screaming at me not to, I accepted their hand, shaking once before letting go. Their ice-cold touch made my skin crawl but I did my best not to show it. Even if Silas could see it in my mind.
Why did I always seem to make a deal with the devil to save my sister?
XXX
I followed Silas as he looked for Bonnie. The witch was by the carpark, her fists clenched by her side, a furious expression on her face. While the immortal being approached her, I lurked in the background. I had a feeling that her anger was directed towards me and I had to give her time to cool down before I let her see me again.
"Bonnie, wait," Silas called after the witch, still wearing my sister's face. It was enough to get Bonnie to pause where she stood, even if she didn't turn around at first.
"Get away from me, Silas," she snapped, shaking her head. Her hair swayed against her skin, even after the movement stopped. Bonnie's anger was causing her to lose control again. It would be interesting to see if Silas could get to regain control or if he would push her even further over the edge.
"We can help each other," their voice remained calm, even as they felt the sheer power coming from the angry witch in front of them. "You don't have to be alone in this."
"This is what you do," Bonnie shouted, spinning around to glare at the immortal. She pointed at him with a shaking finger, fury etched onto her expression. "You wait until I lose control and then you want to swoop in and save me."
"You really think that you have a choice?" Silas asked, stepping closer to the furious witch. "If you don't let me help you, your expression will consume you from the inside out."
"Get away from me," the witch snarled before jolting in shock at the sudden blasting of car alarms. She glanced at the nearby car park to see the headlights on the cars flashing erratically, the alarms still blaring. And for the first time, I saw the fear in her eyes.
"You didn't try to do that, did you?" the immortal drew Bonnie's attention again. "Your magic is taking on a life of its own. You need help controlling it." Bonnie shook her head, the wind picking up around us. The skirt of my dress swished around my legs as its strength grew. "Listen to me, Bonnie. Breathe."
Bonnie shook her head sharply, "I will die before I let you control me again."
The wind grew stronger, centring around the witch. Bonnie's hair blew around her face as she glared at Silas. It picked up the leaves, swirling them around the witch as her anger fed her magic. I could hear Bonnie's heart thudding in her chest as she heaved in breaths, nostrils flaring as she struggled to remain in control.
"Bonnie, listen to me!" Silas shouted over the wind, hair swirling around their face from their proximity to the witch. "Control, Bonnie! Control!"
But the witch refused to listen. Bonnie just shook her head before screaming out, "Get out of my head!"
Then everything went quiet. I blinked as the car alarms suddenly stopped, the headlights going dead, the wind stopping as quickly as it started. The silence was deafening but my gaze was drawn to Bonnie. She held a hand to her head as she stared at the empty space in front of her.
Silas was gone.
"Now that was impressive," I remarked, making my presence known for the first time. Bonnie glanced over at me, staring at me through narrowed eyes as I walked towards her. "But surely you can see, Bonnie, that you are losing control."
"Silas?" the witch asked hesitantly, her voice cracking as her body shook. It was clear that the magic that she had just used had taken a lot out of her. And it would be so easy to take her away. To take her somewhere where I could force her into doing what I want. But I wouldn't do that. Bonnie needed to think that she was making this choice out of her own free will.
"Nope, just me," I shrugged, stopping a few steps away from Bonnie. "Silas ran away after your little show of power. I was impressed, even if it was obvious that you are losing control. Tell me, how much longer do you think you can survive this without help?"
But Bonnie didn't take the bait. She stared at me before snapping, "You turned April Young."
"She completed transition then," I nodded. Not that I was surprised. The others would probably have persuaded the girl to live. Especially Matt, who had a soft spot for the girl. He and Stefan would get her through this.
"Why?!"
"Because I needed a distraction and she was the perfect one. Hey, at least I didn't kill her, because that was my second option. No, instead, she gets to live a life as a strong being who doesn't need to be so scared anymore. I did that girl a favour."
"You ruined her life!" Bonnie shouted at me before an arm wrapped around her shoulders. Stefan held her close, looking at me with an angry expression. Damon appeared next to me, placing a hand on my arm. "You turned her as a distraction. You ruined her life for nothing!"
"She was also a message," I turned my gaze to Stefan, smirking sharply at his anger. At his sheer audacity. He had no right to be angry considering he had forced my hand. "Back the fuck off and let me do what I need to do. I warned you multiple times. And then you go behind my back and try to turn Damon against me? You're lucky that all I did was turn her."
"You've gone off the rails, Alexa," Stefan shook his head at me while Bonnie huffed out furious breaths by his side. I saw him reach into his pocket and narrowed my eyes.
"If you even think about injecting me with that vervain, Stefan, you will fucking regret it," I hissed before Damon's arm wrapped around my waist.
He stared hard at his brother, "Back off, brother. I told you before that Alexa isn't yours to deal with."
"So deal with her then."

Damon did deal with me. But probably not in the way that Stefan would have wanted. He whisked me away to the Boarding House, asking me to change out of my dress before he packed a small suitcase. I paused as I watched him, my dress on the floor, dressed only in my panties, "What are you doing, Day?"
"I'm taking you out of town for a bit," my boyfriend sighed, glancing over at me. His eyes flickered down to my boobs for a second before returning to my gaze. "I should never have brought you back here. The others are pushing you too much and then when you snap, they don't realise what they have done."
"You mean you aren't sharing Stefan's fury over me turning April Young?" I raised an eyebrow, putting on the bra that Damon passed over.
"It wasn't your smartest move, Alexa," Damon gave me a look before shaking his head. "You warned them that it would get ugly. But I don't think anyone expected you to do something like that. So, before Stefan can lock you up in the basement, I'm going to take you out of town so the others can cool down."
"Okay," I nodded, quickly getting changed before turning to face my boyfriend with a smile. "So, where are we going?"
"Wherever you want, Ally. All that matters is that you aren't being bothered by the others. Maybe that way I can stop someone from getting their spine ripped out."
"Maybe I'll even return with my humanity back on," I shrugged before wrapping my arms around Damon's neck. "Maybe being somewhere that isn't home, where there aren't any reminders of what I have lost, might help me."
"As long as you are doing what you need to do, I don't care when you need to turn it on," Damon sighed into my hair as he held me close. "And maybe you aren't the only one who needs a break from Mystic Falls."
