Hello, this is technically my first fanfic, I will leave constructive criticism because it is needed, but please do take the story with a grain of salt. Though I will say do not bomb me with reviews
Welcome To The Land Of Berk
A land settled by Vikings. These burly men and women inhabit the isle, dealing with a climate so cold, though many have put it as luck, as they are not completely frozen over. You would expect nothing of this piece of rock, but there is just one thing off about this area so far up north, the land has marks of being torched or set ablaze. But this isn't just about these would-be conflicts among tribes in this Barbaric Archipelago, it is far more than that. Mythical Beasts have done this work, and they are DRAGONS!
And as the conflict between man and beast occurs, the villagers must try to survive in this unforgiving climate. And like this our story begins.
...
It is just another day in Berk, there have been many discussions on dealing with the dragons once and for all, trying their best to find and eradicate the nest.
But luckily, or unluckily as some of the elders have put it, there is no meeting today. So a boy who happens to be the chief's son, Hiccup Haddock the Third is wandering about, or tried to is a better way to put it.
He, as being the runt of the litter, often gets the short end of the stick many a time, this is one of them.
"Can't you people be doing something more meaningful with your lives!" Exclaims the boy, "Well..." he paused thinking of a smart comeback "I would say the same thing." said Snotlout in response. Snotlout and his rag team had been bullying Hiccup for days now, it was endless. Snotlout did have a running fear that possibly Stoick might punish him severely for ruining Hiccup's life in this way, but that was at the back of his brain. The stress amounting thanks to his father was now truly a weight on him.
Suddenly, seemingly out of nowhere, Gobber was walking over, "Ye lads scur!" They all ran-off in a hurried fashion. Gobber looked at Hiccup and in almost mixed angry and loving expression he said "Hiccup, are you alright?", Hiccup simply responded with a nod, but before he could leave Gobber caught him with his hook and he spoke "I am going to speak to yer father, I know you don't but I have to, you can't be treated like this."
Hiccup looked at him and simply sighed, "He won't do anything Gobber, he never does, he is always too occupied being the man for his people" he then mimicked his father, almost inflating himself to get the impression exactly as he imagined.
Gobber patted him on the back and let him go, soon he would speak to Stoick and let him know about everything.
Meanwhile
"Arghh!"
The girl left swiftly, Astrid Hofferson, was tired, her family was in hardship and nothing she did seemed to bear fruit. She arrived at her home devastated. But her frustration soon let out to pure curiosity, her father was talking to someone. A burly beard, muscular and somewhat professional looking, she almost squawked in horror and respect. It was Stoick, Chief of her tribe. She greeted him and he reciprocated, he then bid the Hoffersons a farewell. Astrid asked her father "Dad, what were you doing with Stoick? '', he almost looks like he is apologizing for something. "You didn't get me married to Hiccup for Thor's sake!" Her father almost turned red, "No! I would've looked ridiculous! No, you've been assigned to be his bodyguard." The pieces clicked in her mind, though she didn't say it out loud.
She immediately thought how horrible and tedious the job would be, so with a sigh, she waved her father goodbye, and went to bed.
