"You're late."

I rolled my eyes at Stefan's words, as I settled down on one of the benches in one of Whitmore's numerous courtyards. It was hilarious just how many courtyards and gardens and benches this college had. It was unnecessary. But hey, it gave me a place to make a private phone call, so I shouldn't be complaining too much.

"By, like, five minutes," I crossed my legs beneath me, resting my takeaway coffee cup on my calf. "So, chill." When the other vampire remained silent, I pouted, "It really wasn't my fault. The new barista didn't know my order. I mean, it was quite funny, I am so used to them just presenting it to me that I didn't actually remember what I usually got."

"So what did you get?" Stef asked, his voice curious, even as he tried to hide it. But I wasn't going to say anything. Curious was better than the pain from the previous phone call. It had been a few days since he killed Silas and my sweet Stefan was still suffering. Despite my plan to stay in Mystic Falls and help him through his PTSD, I got bullied into going to Whitmore. I wasn't very happy about it, and neither was my boyfriend. But neither of us could say no to Bonnie when she looked at me with such hopeful eyes, wanting to celebrate her return by going to college with her friends. And even though I wasn't actually attending college, I somehow agreed to tag along. It was very tedious. But at least Stefan had agreed to phone calls every morning and evening.

"I dunno, I told her to surprise me and she gave me some syrupy coffee crap," I wrinkled my nose before taking another sip. Despite my loathing of it, I was still drinking it. I guess it was just habit. Hot drink in hand, must drink. "It's disgusting."

"I bet you're missing Damon's good coffee," the other vampire's small chuckle had me beaming. Getting Stefan to smile, let alone laugh, had been an achievement these past few days. I continued to hope that our conversations provided him with an escape from his trauma, even for a few minutes each day. And even though I wasn't there, I was determined to help him through it all. While Damon did everything that I couldn't do.

"Damn right, I am," I snorted, watching as students did the walk of shame, sneaking back to their dorms following parties and naughty nights out. Not that I was judging. These kids had every right to live their lives as they wanted to, even if it meant making bad decisions in the middle of the night. "And I will leverage it to my benefit when I get home. But stop distracting me, Stef. How are you doing?"

"I'm doing okay." When I let out an unconvinced hum, Stefan sighed, "You won't let me have it, will you?"

"You never let me have it, hon," I shrugged, trying my best not to laugh. "So nope, I won't let you bullshit your way through an answer. The truth, please."

"I'm not doing well at all. I think I broke Damon's reading chair earlier."

"Aw, Stef," I sighed, wishing that I was there with him, eager to wrap him in my arms and hug tight. "Are you still getting flashbacks, then?"

"They come and go. I can't really predict when they will happen."

"Yeah, that part sucks," I shook my head, unable to stop myself from thinking back to the days when I suffered from flashbacks. It was fucking awful. And there wasn't really a lot that you could do to stop them. "I remember when I suffered with them. Sometimes I couldn't even look at Elena, because she reminded me so much of Katherine and that made me feel sick. So you can imagine how I reacted when she accidentally snuck up on me."

Stefan was quite for a moment before he asked softly, "How did you deal with them?"

The yearning in his voice had my heart clenching. Because I didn't have an answer for him, not a proper one. And that just about killed me.

"Uh, I didn't? I just ran away from it all, using everything and anything to distract me. Shit like the sacrifice or the fact that I was going insane thanks to Esther's fucking nonsense. I never really hung around to deal with it, I just buried it all in a box and slammed the lid shut."

"Well, that doesn't sound healthy."

"Oh Stef, it so isn't healthy, which is why I am not recommending that you do it. Running away from your trauma is the absolute wrong thing to do because it will all come crashing down on you at some point."

"Somehow I don't think you would let me run away from it all."

"Yeah, soz, hon, I am going to be a total hypocrite. Do as I say, not as I do. Which is why I am going to make you talk about it and deal with the resulting emotional fallout. It won't be pretty but you won't be alone going through it."

"Between you and Damon, I've barely been left alone."

"Lol you sound so put out, I'm the one missing phone sex due to babysitting duties," I teased gently, enjoying the disgusted noise that I got in return.

"I didn't need to know that, Alexa."

"Probably not," I agreed with a laugh. "But just think of the sacrifices we're making for you. It's cos we love you, Stef."

"If you loved me, you wouldn't tell me about your sex life."

"Would you rather listen to it instead?" I sniggered, enjoying the exasperated sigh that I got in return. I knew that Stefan did appreciate my distracting him, even if he didn't appreciate the subject matter. But I had done my part in checking in on the poor guy and I would update Damon on how he was doing. Now was the time for banter and taking minds off of horrific trauma.

"That's it, I'm getting Damon to soundproof his bedroom."

"Sooo, how much booze is too much booze?" I mused as I stared down into the shopping trolley. My darling girls had decided to throw Bonnie a welcome back from the dead party. And they were taking it seriously. Elena had driven us to a local shop, where I had previously compelled the workers to never ID me. Which was something that Caroline and Ellie were taking advantage of. Something that tickled my funny bone because Caroline could have just compelled the workers into not IDing her too. But she had apparently not thought of that. Or she was just too lazy to do it. "Because you need to remember that if I'm partying, then I'm going all out."

"Good point," my sister rolled her eyes, a teasing look on her face, before she grabbed three more bottles of whiskey from the shelf. "There we go, this is just for you."

"You're a cheeky little shit," I shook my head, sighing dramatically, before grabbing a bottle of bourbon from the shelf too. "Luckily for you, I'm in too much of a good mood to do something about it."

I generously ignored her, "As if you ever would."

Instead, I turned to Caroline, "Do you see any of those cheap red cups? Cos it isn't a party without those cups. And I will not be helping with anything unless you get them for me. I have standards for my parties."

The blonde rolled her eyes at me, "That's it, we are definitely inviting Damon to this party. Because you are getting unbearable."

"I'm not that bad," I snorted, knowing that I really was being that bad. But in my defence, I was used to regular sex. And if I didn't get a good fucking on a regular basis, I stopped controlling my bitchiness. It wasn't deliberate. I just got a bit pent up. Fuck, okay, I probably was being a bit unbearable to be around. Yikes, that was kind of a funny thought. Maybe I should tell my boyfriend that. He would definitely get a kick out of it.

"Yes, you are," Caroline laughed, giving me a quick squeeze before leading me over to the red cups that I had demanded. "Are you not even having phone sex?"

"Unfortunately, we've been too busy looking after Stefan," I kept my voice low, conscious of Elena in the next aisle. I didn't want to worry my sister. She was smiling again, delighted to have Bonnie back, while also trying to get over her guilt. Learning just how much Stefan was struggling would not help with any of that. And I was determined to look after my sister, keeping her happy was a huge priority of mine. And this time, I was not going to let it get me into trouble. "He's still struggling and Damon has been too focused on looking after him. Which, you know, is a good thing. But it doesn't give us much alone time. Well, any, if I'm being honest. When we do talk on the phone, it's to give each other updates on everything that has been happening."

"How is he?" Care also kept her voice soft. Ellie had managed to convince herself that her ex was fine, which was probably the only reason why she was at college and not at the Boarding house. It probably helped that Stefan had done his best to convince everyone that he was fine. But he couldn't fool me and Damon. I had been through enough shit to know what followed, and Damon, who had also been through his own fair share of shit, had seen me go through mine.

"Not good," I sighed, shaking my head as I loaded the trolley with packets of red cups. "He's still having flashbacks and I know for a fact that he isn't sleeping properly because he replies to my stupid memes at three in the morning. But he's talking to me, he's talking to Damon, he's letting us help him. So I guess it could be worse."

"I'm sure you're helping him a lot more than you realise," my friend gave me a sweet smile before my twin reappeared, crate of beer in her arms. I rolled my eyes, quickly grabbing it from her and placing it underneath the trolley.

"Seriously, at what point do we start asking if this is too much?" I laughed, shaking my head at it all.

"Well, we're planning for the future," Elena winked at me. "Because whatever isn't drunk at the party, will be finished off by you when you visit and get all pent up."

"I really hate you two," I sighed dramatically, shaking my head. "And how are you planning on paying for it all? Or are you going to cheat?"

The two exchanged a glance before snickering. I waited until they were done, wondering if I could get away with claiming a bottle now. Because I knew that they would be unbearable during setting up too. Eventually Caroline cleared a throat, but she was unable to hide the cheeky look on her face, "Well, do you still have one of Damon's credit cards?"

"Oh you two are wicked, wicked children," I rolled my eyes. "I am only going to use it on one condition: I get to get shitfaced and have drunk sex somewhere in the building."

"Only if you promise not to use our dorm room," Elena immediately shot back, a dramatically disgusted look on her face.

"I will not promise that," I snorted before compromising. "But I do promise not to use any beds in the dorm room?"

My two idiots looked at each other before nodding, "We can accept that."

"Awesome," I smirked before turning around to look at the properly expensive booze. "Now, if I'm going to get into trouble, I am going to properly own that shit."

"Oh no, we're encouraging her now," Caroline whispered and I gave them a wink.

"Don't worry, I will definitely enjoy the consequences of my actions."

The disgusted reactions that I got were definitely worth it.

Getting all of the booze out of the car was a fun challenge. Because the paper bags that they gave us were definitely too weak to support of all the bottles that were packed in. Eventually Care just suggested leaving most of it in the car, deciding that it would be easier to set up if the booze was close by and not up several flights of stairs. I just shrugged in agreement before grabbing my more expensive bottles. They were going to remain in the dorm room until closer to the party. Then I would crack them open and share them with my boyfriend. It would only be fair, since he technically paid for it all.

I grabbed a crate of beer with my other arm, leaving the other two to decide how much they wanted to carry up. I knew that the Jello shots stuff would be brought up, because they would definitely be picked at before the party started. As for the rest of it, I just left them to it. Instead, I slowly made my up way up the stairs. And that was how I managed to accidentally eavesdrop on Bonnie leaving her mom a video message.

"Hi, Mom," Bonnie's voice was full of happiness and it had me pausing before I opened the door. I could hear the other two behind me but I wanted. Because the sound of Bonnie's happiness had my heart clenching in my chest. It had been so long since I last heard that sound and it actually hurt. Because it was all my fault that she spent so long unhappy. And I wasn't even touching the rest of the shit that I had done wrong. "As promised, I'm sending you video update, now that I'm settled in at Whitmore. Alexa took me out to get a new 'do and those drunk message were all her fault. But, um, this is my dorm! It's huge, right? It even has a fireplace! I mean, what dorm has a fireplace?"

I glanced to the side as the other two arrived at the door. My blonde friend gave me a look so full of sympathy before pushing the door open. I managed to force a genuine enough looking smile on my face before following her inside. We quickly hid the bags and crates behind each other and our legs, trying to pretend that we weren't leading her daughter down a naughty path.

"Oh, here they are. Hey, guys! Say hi to my mom!" we all waved at the camera and I couldn't help but laugh as Bon tried to hide our contraband from view. "They're planning me a welcome party." My friend quickly switched it back to selfie mode as we placed our bags and boxes of booze on the beds. "Just something… just low-key." I barely hid my snort at that, earning myself a smack on the shoulder by my twin. "I miss you already. Please come back and visit when you get a chance. I'll, um, talk to you soon. Bye!" She kissed her fingers, pressing it to the screen before hanging up the video.

Now that the video message was over, my girls decided that the time to behave had ended. I just rolled my eyes at them, slumping down on my sister's bed before opening up one of the bottles of whiskey that I had bought.

"By the way, Mom," Elena did a fairly convincing impression of Bonnie. "I'm not a witch anymore, because of the spell that brought me back from the Other Side and made me it's anchor. Sorry I didn't tell you before we left."

"I was just too busy enjoying that fact that I could properly touch certain people again," I muttered into my bottle, giving Bon a wink as she looked over at me. She knew that I knew what she was doing. To be fair to her, it wasn't her fault that I found out. It was my idiot brother. Jeremy was not subtle, not in the slightest. The dumbass had the giddiest smile on his face the morning after Bonnie's return and all it took was a couple of glasses of bourbon to get him to spill the beans. If it didn't benefit me so much, then I would have been annoyed that my brother was so easy.

Fortunately, our friend just shook her head, a smile dancing on her beautiful lips, "How big is this party going to be?"

"Well, let's see," Ellie held up a bottle of wine in each hand. "Silas and Tessa are gone, and you finally aren't."

"The only plans that I have are to get in Damon's pants," I added with an unrepentant shrug. "So I am the most unproblematic that I have been in a long time."

"And all of that equals a massive cause for celebration!" Caroline laughed, while my twin gave me a dirty look. I was not ashamed of my words, if they were going to tease me about being 'pent up', then I was going to own that shit. If I was being honest, I was surprised that they weren't already aware of my plans to fuck my boyfriend until I couldn't remember my own name, considering all of my missing darlings were home and knew who they were. Yes, Stefan was going through some shitty PTSD and Bonnie was trying to pick up where she left off, but the main thing was that they were home.

"Which equals a massive party," Ellie took over, while Care threw me a blood bag. I glanced down into my bottle of whiskey with a considering look before just drinking the blood. I could fuck around with adding blood to alcohol later, when Damon was around. That would make it a lot more fun. "Hopefully. I mean, since each of us have only made one proper friend in college so far."

"That's so sad," I snorted, rolling my eyes. "I've made one proper friend and I don't even go here. At least tell me that you've made acquaintances."

"Don't worry, Alexa, we know enough people that they will come and drink the free booze," my sister gave me a look and I shrugged.

"I wasn't worrying about that. No self-respecting college student is going to turn down free booze. Nah, I'm more concerned about you all becoming losers when I return back to Mystic Falls."

"You don't need to worry about that," the blonde flicked my leg and I pouted. "Although, given that my one friend went radio silent after he kissed me and Elena's was last seen at a tea party for a vampire-hating secret society, maybe we should be worried."

"Hmm, Augustine, right?" my anchor friend nodded. "The one who covered up your roommate's death and wants you all kicked off from campus." I snorted while the other two gave her a look. "What? I've kept up! The Other Side is boring. What else am I supposed to do?"

"Yeah, exactly, you should know that, Els," I snorted. "And at least we don't need to catchup her up on everything that she missed." I paused, staring down at the half empty bottle in my hand while I practically sensed the eye rolls. "Damn, Caroline, darling, I think I need more blood to counteract this booze."

"You're not supposed to get drunk until later," my blonde friend giggled, immediately grabbing me another blood bag.

"It wasn't intentional," I muttered with a pout, while my sister carried on with the conversation.

"Alright, so Augustine wants us gone. Who cares?" she shrugged, not looking at all bothered by my accidental mention of her time on the Other Side. "It doesn't matter. It's not gonna happen. We're moving on with our lives, together, as functional doppelgangers and vampires and," she paused, gesturing to Bon, looking for the right words, "a former witch, anchor… thing. I don't know." That earnt a laugh from all of us. "And we have a party."

"With Jello-o shots," the other vampire in the room added, a cheeky smile on the face.

Bonnie was just about to join in when her phone pinged in her hand. She glanced down at it before biting her lip. It didn't take a genius to know who it was, especially when she stuttered slightly, "Oh, uh, shoot. Um. I have to go register for classes." I snickered into my bottle while the other two exchanged knowing glasses. "What?"

"Nothing," my idiot darlings spoke in unison, trying and failing to look innocent. And even though she was being teased, Bonnie shook her head with a smile, before turning to leave the room.

Before she did so, Ellie deepened her voice, a cheeky smirk on her face, "Have fun registering."

I snorted while the other two teased. Elena wrapped her arms around herself, making kissing noises, while Care fondled her pillow. I just downed the rest of my bottle, enjoying the resulting burn and fuzziness.

"Oh my god!" Bonnie laughed, opening the door as quickly as possible. Yeah, she was definitely regretting being around us. Lol.

"Don't do anything that I wouldn't do!" I shouted after her, just before the door closed.

After the other two had finished planning their party, it was time to hand out flyers, trying to get as many people aware of the bash as possible. Of course, I was under the impression that it was a waste of time, because there was no way that students wouldn't find out about a party on campus. Not that my sister cared, as she just dragged me out, shoving a pile of flyers into my hand.

The original plan was to split up to hand out flyers, but my not so sweet twin was under the impression that I would just ditch my pile and mess around if we did that. So she accompanied me, using the excuse that someone needed to make sure that I stayed sober until the party started. It was obviously bullshit, cos I wasn't completely sober now. But hey, my aim was to do such a shit job at handing out flyers that she would do it for me.

In order to entertain myself, I decided to call my boyfriend. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Ellie roll hers. But she didn't stop me, so I took it as a win.

"Well, hello gorgeous," I purred as he picked up the phone, unable to help myself. Of course, the second bottle of whiskey that I had downed during planning time probably didn't help. Especially since I had failed in drinking either water or more blood to counteract the alcohol.

Despite himself, Damon laughed, "Are you drunk?"

"Pfft, no, I'm getting into the party spirit," I did a very bad job at pretending that I hadn't indulged a bit too much, a bit too early. It probably didn't help that Elena was muttering in the background that I was drunk. "Speaking of parties, my sister wants you to come tonight. Something to do with you having a huge part in making Bon be alive again. She was even muttering about if you come, you can fuck me senseless cos I am apparently becoming a bit of a pent-up bitch. No idea where she got that idea from."

"Oh my god," Elena rolled her eyes, while my boyfriend laughed. It a dark and deep and throaty, and it definitely had me clenching my thighs together.

"Now how can I refuse any invitation like that?" Damon's voice had me smiling into my hand. Damn, it was definitely a good thing that he wasn't here right now, because I had absolutely no self-control. I would have done something to get me scolded by my twin.

"You don't," I giggled, watching as Ellie walked across the lawn, chasing after a familiar looking boy.

"Trust you to get drunk before the party," I could hear him shaking his head at me and I pouted.

"In my defence, the planning part was really boring… oh, sad boy!" I shuffled closer, keen to listen in on my sister's conversation.

"Who's sad boy?" Damon frowned as I got within proper listening distance.

"Ellie's friend, I can never remember his name," I shrugged, looking to the side when Elena glanced over at me. "He just looks really sad, like, all the time. Hmm, maybe I should ask him why."

"Not while you're drunk, baby," my boyfriend chuckled.

"I'm not drunk," I pouted, completely ignoring the fact that I was on the drunker end of tipsy. But I didn't care. For the first time in months, I didn't have any plans that didn't involve fucking my boyfriend. And I was going to enjoy that, before something else came along to ruin it all.

"Long time, no see," my sister greeted her sad friend, passing him a flyer. "You're coming."

"Party in a dorm?" sad boy frowned. "No, thanks."

But Ellie was not to be deterred, not even as I giggled down the phone, "She just got rejected by sad boy. How lame."

"Ally, play nice."

"Come here and make me," the growl that I could hear in his throat had me humming in satisfaction. Yep, it had definitely been too long since we had sex. And the potent booze was not helping with that.

"I know what you're doing," my sister was saying. "You like to push people away, but the thing is…"

Sad boy interrupted her, "How do you know that about me?"

The confusion on Elena's face had me coughing back a laugh, "Because you told me during one of our coffee dates, after I had asked Alexa to compel you into talking to me. Damn." When sad boy looked concerned and slightly scared, my twin glanced at me over her shoulder, "Get over here and be useful."

"Rude," I sniffed before complaining down the phone as I walked over. "Do you hear how she talks to me? And that's while she's demanding stuff. Maybe I should say no. And when did she get me to compel him? I don't remember this guy."

"Well, you have had a busy time of it recently, maybe it just slipped your mind," Damon offered and I let out a hum.

"Well, sad boy is rather forgettable," I came a stop just in front of the kid. "Yikes, am I being a bit bitchy?" When my boyfriend agreed, I pouted, "Damn, maybe I need more booze."

"What you need to do is help me sort this," Elena interrupted, rolling her eyes and I sighed dramatically.

"Fine!" I made eye contact with the blond boy before pausing, "What am I telling him?" I could hear Damon laughing down the phone at me while my sister rolled her eyes.

"Tell him to forget what I said."

"Okie dokes," I shrugged, before compelling sad boy. "Forget anything that the idiot girl said about compulsion and your issues. And just come to the party, she'll stop bothering you then and she can also count you among her friends again. Cos, like you're the only one." I paused for a moment before adding, "Oh, and what is your name?"

"Aaron," sad boy replied before blinking and looking at Ellie. "See you at the party."

"Well, that felt like a complete shitshow," I groaned, slouching over to a nearby bench, avoiding my sister's look. "I feel like I need more booze after that."

"Why are you so determined to get drunk today?" my boyfriend asked, his voice curious, despite his annoying amusement at the drama Elena got me involved in.

"Erm, boredom?" I shrugged, dumping my untouched pile of flyers to the side. "There isn't a lot for me to do when the others go to class and Bonnie disappears far too often to go make out with my brother. And I've given up trying to scratch this itch that apparently only you can satisfy."

Damon breathed in sharply, and that was how I knew that I was close to winning this one, "You know I'm supposed to be looking after Stefan in Mystic Falls, not spoiling you."

The tone of his voice had me biting my lip to hide a smile that would almost definitely get me in trouble with Elena, "Bring him along too. He can get drunk and run away from his trauma at a college party instead of in your library. Besides, you know you want to come. Don't make me beg, Damon. Because I can disappear back to the currently empty dorm room and get creative."

I loved it when I got my own way, because Damon's purred, "I'll teach you how to properly beg, Alexandria," had me shivering in delight.

"What is your favourite Jello shot colour?" I asked Caroline, looking down at empty pots in front of me. "Cos the ones that make your tongue go a different colour just tickle my sense of humour."

"How many of those have you had?" the blonde rolled her eyes as she looked over at me. She was busy sorting out our dresses for the party. And I was content to let her, especially since I definitely didn't have anything suitable in my small bag that I had thrown together before being dragged to Whitmore. I had resorted to just borrowing my sister's clothes at times.

"Um," I knocked my nail against each empty pot as I counted out loud. "Eight? No, wait, I think I missed one."

"So much for not letting you get drunk," Caroline shook her head, voice full of amusement, as I gave her my most charming smile and pulling out my third bottle of whiskey.

"Els is a killjoy," I scoffed loudly, while my friend gathered up my empty Jello shot pots. Once the bed in front of me was empty, I stretched out my legs, leaning back against her pillows. "She wouldn't know what fun was if it bit her on the ass." I paused before musing, ignoring the slightly slur in my voice, "I wonder if Stefan ever bit her on the ass during sex. Cos I feel like I can make a joke out of that."

"Maybe I should be taking that bottle off of you too."

"Nope," I clutched my bottle closer to my chest. "You're forgetting our arrangement." Was my voice too loud? Oh well. "I let you use Damon's credit card and in return, I get to get drunk and have sex."

"As if I was every going to stop you from having sex," my friend laughed before abandoning the dresses, sitting in front of me instead. "But I do feel obligated to ask if you're getting drunk to run away from something or if this is just some weird sex plan that you've concocted."

"Well, I certainly didn't plan on getting drunk," I shrugged, snuggling back against Care's pillows, looking up at her with wide eyes. "And now that I am, it feels like a good idea to keep going. Besides, Damon thinks that I'm hilarious when I'm drunk."

"You are entertaining," Caroline agreed, shaking her head. "But can you at least wait until the party starts before you reach the fall down drunk stage?"

"Hm, while I won't stop drinking, I will agree to blood and water between bottles," I hummed, closing my eyes. "Do you think mixing blood and water will make it work better? Or just turn out gross?"

"Well, we aren't going to find out today," the blonde shook her head, replacing the whiskey bottle in my hand for a blood bag. I pouted as she placed it on the floor behind her. "Drink up before you get me in trouble with Elena and Damon."

"I would be more scared of Elena," I muttered before doing as I was told and drinking from my blood bag. "She's the one who would lecture you."

"And what would Damon do?"

"He would indulge me," I smirked, giving her a wink, enjoying the laugh that I got in return.

"I don't know why I expected anything else," she shook her head, blonde curls bouncing. "You're going to finish a bottle of water after that. And then I might consider giving you back that whiskey bottle."

"Ugh, I thought you were fun," I grumbled, giving the offered bottle of water a dirty look. "You're gonna kill my buzz."

"May it rest in peace," Caroline shrugged, completely uncaring of the fact that she was ruining my good time. She stood up, taking my whiskey bottle with her, as she resumed her search for party appropriate dresses.

"I need to find someone to give me some sympathy," I muttered, abandoning the still half full water bottle to flick through my phone instead. My thumb hovered over Damon's name before I sighed and instead flicked further down my contacts. I knew that my boyfriend would agree with Caroline. He wouldn't want me to get too drunk, not at Whitmore, which set all of his overprotective instincts on fire, unless he was there with me. And I wouldn't wind him up about that. I knew that it was bad enough for him, that I was here and he wasn't by my side. So I would play nice for now. Instead, I pressed Tyler's name, picking up the water bottle as the dial tone rang. When he picked up, I immediately grumbled, "Your girlfriend is a killjoy now and we need to save her before my sister makes it worse."

"Alexa? Are you drunk?"

"Why does everyone keep asking me that?" I sighed, definitely ignored the slight slur that remained. I knew that I would need more water and blood to completely sober up, but since I didn't feel like going that far, I ignored all the signs that pointed to my overindulgence. "I am so not drunk."

"You really are," Caroline laughed, replacing the empty water bottle with another blood bag. I rolled my eyes but dutifully did as I was told. Maybe that way, I would get my whiskey bottle back quicker.

"Rude," I pouted. "Ty, tell her to stop being rude."

"I can't believe that I'm missing drunk Alexa," the hybrid laughed instead and I grumbled. "It's been ages since you were like this."

"Erm, actually, that's not true," I snorted, prodding Care's leg with my toes when she wandered too close. "I got very drunk a several nights back when me and Amensiac Stef made lazy blocktails. It was so fun."

"I can imagine," Tyler snorted and I pouted again.

"Stop laughing at me and get your hybrid ass over here and defend me."

"She wants you get her whiskey back for her," Caroline raised her voice, when Ty let out a questioning noise. "Because I won't let her drink until she's had enough blood and water to sober her up a bit."

"I hate you," I grumbled, crossing my arms after throwing my phone on the bed. "At least Damon makes sobering up fun."

"I am suddenly regretting picking up this call," my adopted bro sighed, drawing a giggle out of me.

"Well, why don't you come over to Whitmore early and I'll make it up to you?"

"Well, watching you get drunk again will be fun," Tyler mused. "And it isn't like I'm doing anything."

"So get your ass down here then!"

Caroline had kindly given me back my bottle of whiskey before dragging me downstairs. Since she knew that I would be of absolutely no help setting up, she bullied me into getting ready early. I didn't mind too much, since it meant that I wouldn't be interrupted in my drinking. My friend had leant one of her dresses, a lovely teal one, that made my boobs look as amazing as usual. It also showed a bit too much thigh, but since she was apparently determined to get me laid tonight, I wasn't too surprised.

I settled on the couch, watching as she ordered Tyler and Jamie around, getting them to set up all of the booze that I had used Damon's credit card to buy. It was quite hilarious, not gonna lie. Especially when poor, sweet Jamie continued giving her wide-eyed looks. Despite having spent enough time in our little gang, the cutie still wasn't used to Care when she got serious about setting up a party. I only got away with not joining in because I still wasn't entirely sober. Despite her best attempts. Of course, what she didn't know was that Ty had poured vodka into my water bottle whenever her back was turned. My dumbass bro got a kick out of drunk me. And since I wanted to continue drinking, I wasn't going to put a stop to his mischief.

"Has anyone seen Els?" I frowned, glancing around the students walking in and out of the room. "I'm fairly sure that it doesn't take that long to hand out flyers. Unless she's done something stupid again." I paused before frowning. "My 's's feel weird. Do they sound weird?"

Tyler sniggered as an exasperated voice sighed from behind me, "Okay, who let her continue drinking?"

I spun around in my seat, grabbing into the arm to stop myself from toppling off, before beaming up at my sister, "I drank all of the blood and water that Caroline made me so I got my whiskey bottle back." I held it up before pouting, "Ah no, it's empty. Who wants to get me a refill? Cos walking feels like a challenge right now."

When Elena switched her gaze to Caroline, the blonde shrugged, "I did try. But she gets creative and I have far too much to do to keep track of her."

"It's all Tyler's fault," I tried to whisper but I knew that my voice was far too loud. My words earnt me an unimpressed look and I rolled my eyes. "I know you stole some of my drink. There was a lot more left in the when I stopped paying attention."

"At least Damon will be here soon," my twin rolled her eyes, confiscating my empty bottle before I could do something stupid. "He can look after you then."

"Pfft, I don't need looking after," I scoffed before trying to stand up. My legs shook underneath me and I fell back down on the sofa. "Okay, maybe I do. Erm, Care, my favourite blonde ever, do you have any more water bottles?"

"I thought you wanted to get drunk," Tyler snarked as his girlfriend made him bring over my water.

"Well, I do," I rolled my eyes, not even bothering to hide my dramatic sigh. "But if I get too drunk before Damon gets here, he'll make me go to bed instead of giving me some sweet loving."

Okay, the disgusted noises that I got were definitely worth it. I knew that I got far too much amusement out of it all. But I didn't care. Either way, they were going to tease me about my relationship, at least if I was making my little comments, I would be enjoying it.

Elena was just about to scold me when Care's phone buzzed beside me. I had pinched it earlier, taking some creative selfies her with boyfriend, and now it was obvious that I had swiped it. I gave the blonde my best innocent look while my sister laughed, saving me "Hm, maybe a call from a mysterious biology TA will distract you from my twin's nonsense?"

"I have no nonsense," I muttered as our friend darted over the grab the phone. She answered it with a smile, relief clear in her expression.

"Well, look who rose from the dead."

I glanced up with a frown as the cutie answered, practically panting with panic, "I need your help."

"What happened, Jesse?" Care frowned, exchanging a glance with me. I shrugged. I hadn't seen the cutie since I stopped Amnesiac Stefan from ripping his throat out. Much to my annoyance, because Jesse was definitely a good time and he had a fun sense of humour.

"Just come to my room, please," he begged and my heart broke at the fear in his voice.

"Okay, I'm coming, but what's going on?"

"It's a long story. My roommate's going to be home."

Caroline nodded before quickly leaving the room without another word. Elena watched her go with a worried look, "What was that all about?"

"Nothing good," I sighed, shaking my head, before finishing the rest of water. "Why do I get the feeling that this is the end of my good time?"

"Because it almost definitely is," Tyler gave me a sympathetic look. I knew that he had been listening it. The hybrid hadn't actually met Jesse before, but I knew that Care had told her boyfriend about the cutie kissing her. I was just lucky that Ty's guilt complex had him immediately forgiving the other boy. Because otherwise I would have had to intervene and I knew that it wouldn't be pretty. Fortunately, he just immediately forgave both Caroline and Jesse, realising that he had also fucked up during that period. Which, to be fair, I had told him.

"I guess the real question is, do I go follow her now or do I wait for her to call in backup?" I shifted in my seat as my sister placed a hand on my shoulder. "Cos I fear that I will need to sober up a bit more before I am at my most helpful."

"I'll get you more water," Jamie offered, a sweet smile on his face and I couldn't stop myself from beaming at the other cutie.

Caroline called in backup after she got Jesse settled down. While she sent Elena up to their room to get as many blood bags possible, she summoned me over to check on her friend's bleeding roommate. Why she trusted me, I had no idea. But since the two boys with us were ordered to continue setting up for the party, I had no other option but to follow Jesse's muttered directions to his room.

I entered just in time to hear the cutie sigh, "It was torture. I was in a cell all day and at night, he would take me out and do experiments on me."

"Omg you poor thing," I gasped at his words, quickly closing the door behind me. "Do you want me to go beat him up for you?"

"Ignore her," Care rolled her eyes at me before gesturing to the bleeding boy on the sofa opposite them. "She's not entirely sober right now." While I muttered my disagreement, she turned her attention back to her friend, her voice softening again. "What kind of experiments?"

"Oh shit, sad boy," I whispered as I stared down at the bleeding kid. I shuffled around the sofa, crouching down next to him so that I could examine his neck. Despite Jesse's fear, it wasn't too bad a wound. And it was something that could be easily fixed with some vampire blood.

"I don't know," the cutie shook his head behind me. "He would starve me and then inject me with some weird blood." Caroline and I let out sympathetic noises as he groaned. "What am I supposed to tell my parents? They left me all of these messages. They're wondering where the hell I am."

"You're going to call them," the blonde's voice was comforting and soothing, and everything that Jesse needed. "And tell them that you lost your phone, but you're okay. Where's Wes now?"

"I locked him in his lab after I attacked him," he answered as I wobbled where I was crouching down. I reached back to place a hand against the coffee table behind me, looking for some stability, so that I wouldn't distract Caroline from comforting Jesse. "Honestly, the whole escape was kind of a blur. I wasn't exactly in my right mind."

"The offer to beat him up still stands," I shrugged as I finally lost my balance, falling onto my ass with an 'oomph'. I ignored my friend's eyeroll to stare at the cutie with wide eyes. "Cos you're adorable and now you're in our super-secret club and I beat up people who hurt my friends and I am, like, so good at it."

Jesse interrupted my rambling with a strained smile, "Thank you, Alexa, I might take you up on that once I get my mind together."

"Well, it's understandable," Caroline gave his knee a squeeze. "You're new and you're hungry."

We all glanced up as the door opened, before relaxing as we saw my sister. Elena walked in, a soft look on her face, before placing her cooler in wheels in front of her, "Not for long. I brought your entire stash, Caroline."

"Seems a bit excessive," I scrunched up my nose as I continued sitting where I fell. I knew that everyone would make their way over to the bleeding sad boy next to me at some point.

"That's because some are for you," my twin rolled her eyes at me as she unzipped the cooler. She dropped one off with me before approaching Jesse with the other. "How are you doing?"

The cutie looked over at me as he held the blood bag in his hand. I could see him eyeing up the way that I sucked on the blood, "Alexa, you're a vampire too?"

"Oh yes," I gave him a smile, letting my face change. "Don't I look so hot?" I knew that my girls were rolling their eyes at me, but I didn't care. "Honestly, sweetness, it is so cool. Once you've stopped looking so shocked and once I am a lot more sober, I'll show you just how amazing be a vampire is."

Jesse didn't look convinced, but he slowly opened the blood bag, drinking from it with less enthusiasm that I had. Although that was to be expected. It was definitely a weird feeling, your fist conscious time drinking blood. It felt natural when you were following your instincts, caught up after your transition or when you lost control. But opening a blood bag and drinking from it was definitely a weird feeling.

Ellie gave me a second blood bag, muttering something about sobering me up, before looking at her unconscious friend, "How's he doing?"

"He's alright, he's alive," Caroline gave her a reassuring smile.

"Relax, Els, your sad boy friend is fine," I shook my head as she helped me back up, moving me to sit on the coffee table. "All he needs is a bit of blood and everything will be fine."

My sister nodded but just as she asked me to feed her friend some blood, the blonde spoke up, "Elena, wait. I was thinking that Jesse could do it." We all glanced at the cutie. "You're a vampire now. You may have hurt him, but you can also heal him with your blood."

"It's so easy," I nodded as Care talked Jesse through changing his face and biting into his wrist. With a determined nod, she brought the new vampire over to us, placing the bleeding wrist against sad boy's mouth. He watched with wide eyes as the wound immediately began to heal and I could feel my nose stop itching as the smell of fresh blood was removed from the room.

"Holy crap. That is insane."

"I told you," I sniggered before Caroline rolled her eyes at me.

"Alexa, call Damon to get here early and go make sure that Wes is still locked up in his lab. Elena and I will help teach Jesse compulsion."

"Ugh, how rude," I groaned, pushing myself to my feet and ignoring the staggered step the side. "Sending the drunk girl to confront the creepy doctor guy who get his jollies off by experimenting on people."

XXX

I reached the lab belonging to creepy Dr Wes Maxfield before pausing. I could hear him shuffling around, muttering stuff under his breath. But he was still in there, which was good news for Jesse. Because if we could remove this threat, then the cutie would be safe. As well as all the other vampires who decided to grace Whitmore with their presence. And my sister. And Bonnie. And my brother. And just people in general.

I took a deep breath, thankful that Caroline hadn't insisted on me wearing pumps, before speeding into the room. The doctor looked up with wide eyes at the noise, lurking over by his fridge. But before he could do anything, I grabbed him, placing him on the gurney in the middle of the room. I pinned him down by his wrists as I looked around the room, "Erm, stay here. I need to tie you up." But I couldn't see anything obvious that I could use. "Fuck. Okay. I don't suppose you have any rope or those zip tie things just hanging around?"

But Wes just looked at me with a raised eyebrow, not looking as bothered by his situation as I would like, "Are you drunk?"

"Omg why does everyone keep asking me that?" I sighed dramatically, shaking my head, before blowing my bangs out of my eyes. "The most that I am is tipsy."

"This just feels insulting," the creepy doctor man muttered and I pouted.

"You are really offending me right now. And I will tell my boyfriend all about this." It was then that I spied some tubes, probably used for blood donation or something like that. But hey, they would work. So I used my speed to grab them before tying up the doctor.

I nodded in satisfaction at my work, stepping back and crossing my arms. Wes just looked at me, that unimpressed look still in his eyes, before he looked down at the tubes tying him to the bed, "These are a little tight."

"Oh shit, my bad," I stepped forward before pausing. "Hey. Don't try and manipulate me, shit face. You know what? I'm glad they're tight. You deserve it for being such a creeper."

The doctor rolled his eyes at me before sighing, "Since I am in this predicament, I'm assuming that Jesse found you."

"Well, technically," I shrugged, spying the bite on his neck. Jesse had mumbled something about attacking him. Guess I ought to make sure that it wasn't too bad, since we wanted answers from the creeper. And that required him being alive. I walked forward, gripping Wes' chin, my grip probably a tad too tight, before forcing his head to the side. I examined the wound, poking at it with my finger, before muttering, "What you did to that poor boy was so mean. And once he has given me permission, I'm going to beat you up for it."

"I know you're a vampire, Alexa," he rolled his eyes. "But you aren't very threatening." I narrowed my eyes, feeling even more offended than I did before, and poked his wound again, this time harder than before. "Please go wash your hands before you touch my open wound."

"We're just going to torture you for answers," I snorted but I did back off, instead moving to sit on the end of the gurney. "Who cares about a little bit of bacteria when that is going to happen?"

"If you're going to torture me, can you at least get it over with?" Wes shook his head, sounding very unthreatened and far too relaxed.

"Not with that attitude," I sniffed, crossing my arms. "And I actually need my boyfriend here before that can happen. Since you don't find me threatening, which is very rude, by the way, so he is going to wreck you and look so hot while doing so." I paused before mumbling, "Fuck, I might still be a bit drunk."

"Your boyfriend being Damon Salvatore, I'm assuming," the doctor looked at me as I flicked his knee.

"Yep, that's the one," I nodded before frowning. "Ah fuck, I never actually called him to tell him that he finally gets to torture you. Double fuck, he is so not going to be impressed that I was in here with you while drunk." As I pulled my phone out of my bra, I looked at the frowning blond. "Dr Maxfield, if I ask him to go easy on you, will you promise not to tell him that we had this conversation? I just sped in and tied you up and then sped back out again."

"And how do I know that he will listen to you?" the older man scoffed, shaking his head as he tested the strength of the tubes tying his wrists to the metal frame.

"Because he's wrapped around my little finger, duh," I rolled my eyes. "And since I know how amazing my boobs look in this dress, he definitely won't deny me anything."

I had to give it to the creepy doctor, he was very good at keeping his eyes on my face. They hadn't once drifted down to my boobs, even when I was pinning him down. I was tempted to say that it made me respect him a tad. But fuck that guy for the way that he hurt Jesse.

"Wonderful," Wes rolled his eyes and I pouted again.

"Come on, I'm trying to make life slightly easier for you. Which I definitely shouldn't be doing considering the creepy experiment shit that you did to Jesse. Give me what I want."

"No."

"I don't like this feeling," I narrowed my eyes before looking down at my phone. "Fine, fuck you too, bro. I don't care if I get into trouble now, hearing you scream will be a lot more fun."

"How shocking," the creepy doctor man muttered under his breath and I flicked his knee again.

"I don't like you."

"The feeling is shared, Alexa."

"You motherfucker."

"Hiiii," I greeted Damon, as I wandered around Dr Maxfield's lab, poking at various things around the room. I had already riffled through the fridge, looking at the various test tubes, but that soon got boring.

"Are you that insatiable right now that you can't wait for me to arrive?" Damon laughed at me as I heard the sound of the Camaro in the background. Well, at least he was already on his way. That made things easier for me. Especially since he would have been a bit too early for the party. Unless he was on his way to give me the sweet loving that I had been begging for. And I couldn't even enjoy it now. Fuck. It was all Wes' fault. The asshole.

"Well, yes," I snorted, knocking over a pile of books. "But unfortunately that isn't the reason why I called." I knew that he could hear the pout in my voice as I whined, "Something came along to ruin my good time."

"Well, that's rude," my boyfriend kindly played along as I continued messing up the lab. I could feel Wes' eyes on me as I moved around the room. But he stayed silent, probably realising that drawing attention to himself would only speed up his impending torture time.

"I know, right? That's what I said," I rolled my eyes as I flicked open the fridge again, wondering if it was worth breaking any of this shit. "Luckily for me, though, my amazing boyfriend is allowed to torture one of the asshole's ruining my day."

I could hear the surprise in Damon's voice, "Is that so?"

"Yep, isn't it delightful," I stuck my tongue out at the creepy doctor as I walked past him. "I'm sensing that you want some context." When my boyfriend let out an affirming hum, I nodded. "Well, you remember Caroline's cute friend, Jesse? Well, creepy Doctor Maxfield, the one who got his kicks by lying on death certificates, had apparently abducted him! He then turned him into a vampire and did disturbing experiments on him. Now, here is the best part: you get to be the one to question the creeper to find out what he knows and what he has been up to!"

"How did you manage to arrange that?" Damon didn't sound very impressed with the latest drama in our lives, but he did play nice with me. Not that I could blame him. Because we all wanted a break from the drama. But this was worse. Because it was Whitmore related drama. It was bad enough for my beloved that I was out here without him. Learning that there was an insane doctor on campus who loved experimenting on vampires was enough to have him freaking out. And how did I know that? Because I could hear the engine of the Camaro complain as it was forced to suddenly speed up.

"Uh, I'm not entirely sure," I paused before shrugging. "I know that I suggested it but no one disagreed. So I just kinda left it at that. Of course, it probably helped that they ordered me out of the room to tie up the asshole while they helped Jesse sort himself out. And they couldn't argue with me if I wasn't in the room."

"Alexa," I winced at the tone of his voice. "Please tell me that you aren't still in the room with him."

"Uhhhhh," I looked up at the doctor as he stared back at me. "Pass." My boyfriend groaned out my name and I pouted. "In my defence, he is tied up very well. He was even complaining that I tied him up too tight." I held my phone out in Wes' direction. "Tell him. Tell him how well I tied you up." When he stayed silent, I rolled my eyes, "He doesn't find me very threatening. It's very rude. Can you beat him up for that? Cos he doesn't believe me whenever I threaten it."

"Ally, baby, please don't stay in the room with the man who has been experimenting on vampires," Damon sighed and I bit my lip before shuffling out the room, ignoring the hard blue eyes that watched me leave. "Especially while you are drunk."

"I'm not drunk," I protested, leaning against the wall opposite the door, making sure to listen for any noises that the doctor made. I knew that I had tied him up well. But I wasn't going to take any risks. Not with Damon's safety. I couldn't let him get hurt. Especially not because of me. "I'm tipsy at most." When he let out an unconvinced noise, I increased my protests. "Honestly. Caroline and Elena made me drink so much blood and water. They effectively killed my buzz and I didn't have enough time to build it again before the creepy fucker ruined it again. I'm all good. I promise."

"I'm sure you are. But no going back in that room until I'm there," he paused before adding. "Even then, I'm not sure that I'll let you in there."

"But Day," I pouted, slumping down to sit on the floor. "I told him that you're gonna wreck him and look hot while doing so. How am I supposed to enjoy the view if I'm not there?"

"I'll record it for you."

"You know, you're the second person to say no to me in the past half hour. I'm not appreciating it. I thought you were going to be nice to me now."

"I'll be nice to you when creepy doctors aren't involved."

"Boo," I pouted, drawing my knees up to my chest, uncaring of the amount of thigh that I was showing. It wasn't like anyone was around and considering the time, no one was going to arrive either. "I'm already missing out on drunk sex, don't ruin my night even more."

"You'll get your drunk sex once I'm finished with this Doctor Maxfield."

"You better promise me that. Cos I am very horny right now and the booze isn't helping."

"Are you out of the room?" when I replied that I was, my boyfriend continued. "Then, since you've been a good girl, I'll give you exactly what you've been craving."

XXX

I was so focused on listening to the creepy doctor, making sure that he wasn't doing anything dodgy, that I didn't realise that my boyfriend had arrived until he was stood right in front of me. I beamed up at him, doing my best to look innocent. Not that he noticed. I knew that I looked a bit of a hot mess, especially with the way that my dress was dragged up my thighs from my fidgeting. If you were in the right position, I was fairly sure that you could see my panties. And I assumed that Damon was in the right place from the deep breath that he took.

"Absolutely nothing went wrong since we ended the call," I shrugged, my hair slipping over my shoulder. Damon's eyes went dark as he followed the movement, his eyes following my hair to my boobs which almost definitely looked good from his view above me. "And I was sat out here the entire time."

"Well, haven't you been a good girl," he smirked, voice deliciously deep, before he reached down to grasp my elbows, pulling me to my feet. I hummed in satisfaction at the feel of his skin against mine, because fuck me, it had been a long few days. Of course, I was even more satisfied when he pulled me against him, one hand moving to my ass while the other tangled in my hair. I couldn't hold back my whimper at his kiss, full of the same pent-up desperation that had been plaguing me, before he muttered against my lips. "And good girls get rewarded."

"Oh fuck," I groaned, my voice probably far too loud, as his hand squeezed my ass before his lips moved to that very sensitive spot beneath my ear. But I didn't care. I didn't care that creepy Wes could almost definitely hear me. Not as I was finally getting what I was craving.

I could feel my boyfriend smirk against my skin as he pushed me back against the wall, one denim clad thigh pressing against my core. Yeah, my voice was definitely far too loud as I moaned out Damon's name. And I still didn't care. Not as he dragged that thigh against me, his hand moving from my hair to my boob, giving it a squeeze before pinching my nipple. My breath hitched as his thumb dragged against it, the thin fabric of my dress and bra doing nothing to hide the feeling.

"Please," I breathed out, tugging on his hair, as my entire body throbbed with pleasure. I didn't want to play games tonight. I just wanted what I had been craving for days. And I knew that Damon felt the same. I could feel his cock straining against the confines of his jeans. His fingers dug into my ass, hard enough to leave bruises, as he fought to stay in control. But I didn't care about that, all I wanted was him inside of me. So I reached down, brushing my fingers against that amazing cock, and that it was all it took to get me exactly what I wanted.

"Fuck," he muttered against my skin, his control breaking, before he pushed open the door beside us. I clung onto his shoulders, my head hanging back, giving him as much access to my neck as possible, as he moved us into the room. I was just about aware of him clearing the desk, everything clattering to the floor. But I didn't care. Not with the fangs scraping against that sensitive spot beneath my ear.

I quickly shimmied off my panties, throwing them to the side, uncaring of where they ended up. Especially when Damon's fingers dragged against me, brushing against my clit. My moan was definitely on the pornographic side, especially when my boyfriend looked down at me, eyes dark, on the edge of losing all of his self-control. Of course, mine was long gone. As was proven when I jolted my hips forward, whimpering, searching for more. Needing more. I needed everything that he could give me. It had been far too long, I had drunk far too much, and he was fucking addictive.

"Easy, baby," my boyfriend murmured, gripping my hips and lifting me onto the desk. My hands shook as I undid his belt, unzipping his jeans. Damon's moan was just as loud as my previous one, as I wrapped my hand around his cock, pumping my hand up and down, giving him the pressure that he needed too. "Fuck, Alexa."

"Day, please, just fuck me," I curled my fingers into his t-shirt, before biting his collarbone, thinking about nothing but him. His skin against mine, his fingers that continued to circle my clit, his mouth on my neck. I needed everything that he was willing to give me. Everything that he could give me.

Damon just shoved his jeans and boxers down enough to free his cock, before returning his grip to my hips. I spread my legs for him, wrapping them around his hips. His cock prodded at my entrance, my breath hitching, before he eased inside. Neither of us could hold in our moans as he slid all the way in, filling me completely.

My eyes rolled back as his fingers tangled into my hair, pulling my head back so that he could bite that spot with his human teeth. I just clung onto his shoulders, my fingers digging into his skin, as he kept his thrusts short and sharp. Every movement had his cock dragging against that spot that had me seeing stars. And fuck me, I was certainly seeing stars.

I could feel my face changing as I lost all control, quickly falling over that edge into pleasure filled oblivion. I knew that I was chanting out Damon's name far too loud. But I couldn't bring myself to care. Not when I felt his fangs scraping against my skin. Not when he adjusted my thigh, so that I took him in deeper, keeping my orgasm going. Pleasure was tinged was pain when my boyfriend groaned out my name, just before his fangs sank into my neck, before his grip tightened to the point of pain, as he followed me into oblivion.

While we both caught our breath back, Damon held me close, pressing me against him. I was just content wrap my arms around him, holding on just as tight. Because for the first time in days, I felt my body relax completely. I hadn't even realised that I was slightly tense, but it didn't matter now. I was in my boyfriend's arms. I could let my brain stop thinking for a moment and just let Damon take over everything.

Something that he was more than happy to do, as his fingers curled around the back of my neck, thumb stroking the skin behind my ear. We both knew that he had to go question the creepy doctor in the other room. And I had to go keep an eye on my idiot loved ones before they did something stupid. But in that moment in time, I didn't care about our responsibilities. I just wanted to be selfish and be held by my boyfriend.

XXX

After I said goodbye to Damon, making him promise to be careful, I made my way over to my sister's dorm building. The party was in full swing by the time I arrived. Music was pounding, students were laughing and the drinks were flowing freely. I couldn't stop my smile, even if a part of me still worried over my boyfriend. But I knew that he wouldn't let me wait with him, so I did my best to not focus on it.

I spied Elena and Caroline through the crowd, by the punch bowl. I knew that they would want an update on the Wes situation, so I decided to behave for once and went to go tell them everything before I joined the party. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Bonnie chatting with Jesse, wide smiles on both their faces. Jeremy was laughing with Tyler and Jamie elsewhere, and I gave a satisfied nod now that I knew where all of my loved ones were.

"You been keeping an eye on Jesse?" Ellie was asking Caroline as I approached them. My twin poured out punch into plastic cups, giving them out with a smile. Trust her to plan a party and then give herself punch duty. She was so lame and I loved her so much.

"Yep," the blonde nodded, staring at the newest vampire in our gang. "I've been teaching him the art of sublimating vampire hunger via grain alcohol."

Elena opened her mouth to reply before catching sight of me, she relaxed before beckoning me over. I rolled my eyes at her before increasing my speed. I glanced between the two, "Damon's questioning doctor creepy. Who didn't have a chance to do anything dodgy after Jesse escaped."

"I see you managed to get your own way before he did so," my friend laughed, nodding at my hair. My hands immediately shot up and I could feel that it was a mess.

"Ah shit, is it really that bad?" I groaned, doing my best to neaten it. But I got the feeling that it was pointless.

"It's fine, sex hair is hot," Caroline gently moved my hands out of the way before easing her fingers through it, getting rid of any tangles before giving it some volume, emphasising the sex hair look. "Damon did agree to not killing Wes, right?"

"Yes, he agreed to not kill the annoying pest," I sighed dramatically. "Not without asking me first, cos he knows that I would want to be there."

"Alexa, are you beefing someone else?" Ellie shook her head, although she didn't sound particularly surprised.

"It's not my fault," I crossed my arms. "He started it by not being scared of me, even though he knows what I am. So I want to be there when he dies so he regrets not being more scared of me."

"I'm sure that makes sense to you," our blonde friend rolled her eyes. "But as long as he doesn't kill Wes, I won't try to work out how. Now," she pulled out a bottle from under the punch table, and my eyes lit up at the sight of the bourbon, "Go find your buzz again. Just keep us updated with what Damon finds out."

I grabbed the bottle, drinking deeply, before beaming, "I can do that."

After giving the two girls a wide smile, I disappeared to go find our friends. I started with Bonnie, who was the easiest to spot in the crowd. She was still smiling at Jesse, who was distracted by his sad boy roommate. The cutie bid my friend goodbye before following him through the crowd. As I reached Bonnie's side, I held out my bottle with a wide smile. My friend laughed, shaking her head, "You're sharing your booze with me?"

"Only cos I love you, Bon-Bon," I shook the bottle and my adorable anchor friend took the bottle with a snigger, taking a deep swig. She coughed slightly at the burn and I cackled. "Lol Bon, you're turning into a light weight, babes."

"Everyone is a light weight compared to you, Lexa," Bonnie laughed, shaking her head. "But you can't laugh at me, I'm out of practice."

"Okay, I'm sorry," I rolled my eyes dramatically, taking my bottle back and taking a drink. "I won't laugh at you. Why don't we go find someone else to laugh at?"

"I thought you were supposed to stop being bitchy once you got time with Damon," my friend wrapped her arm around my shoulder before she led me across the room. I didn't bother paying attention to where she was leading me. I just happily continued drinking my bourbon. Although I was getting through it depressingly quickly. Hopefully no one had gotten their hands on my other bottles.

"This isn't bitchy, pent-up me," I snorted, offering my her my bottle again. When she shook her head with a laugh, I just shrugged and took it back. "This is me looking for some entertainment." I spied Jesse and sad boy through the crowd. "Just like Jesse was entertaining you before sad boy distracted him."

"Alexa, his name is Aaron."

"Fuck, I knew that. Why do I keep forgetting this kids name?" I shook my head. "It just doesn't seem to stick. Do you know why he is so sad? Maybe then I can try and remember his name."

"Elena is the one to ask," Bon carefully took my empty bottle, placing it to the side.

"Elena will yell at me if I ask," I rolled my eyes. "Cos she knows that it means that I forgot his name again. I've already compelled it out of him once and I am fairly sure that Els told me another time. I do not want to get lectured by her. She'll kill my buzz again."

"I'm sure you'll bring it back to life if she does."

"Well, it is something that I am an expert at," I sniggered before wrapping my arms around Bonnie and giving her a squeeze. "The proof is right here. Ugh, I've missed hugging you, Bon-Bon."

My friend quickly returned my hug, her voice warm, "I've missed it too."

We were soon interrupted by Jeremy and Tyler. They were seeking entertainment while Jamie went to go get more drinks. I was being kept dutifully drunk by my beautiful Bonnie. She knew where I kept my bottles, grabbing them for me whenever I finished one. It was safe to say that my buzz was firmly back in the land of the living and I was enjoying life.

"Alexa," my brother gave me a pitiful look as I kindly let Ty drink some of my whiskey. "Elena is guarding the Jello shots and won't let me have any."

"Lol, shocker," I snorted, reaching out to tap his forehead. Unfortunately, it ended up being more of a smack and I gasped out my apologies through snorts of laughter. "My bad, kiddo. Oh shit, I am so gone right now. Are you okay?"

"You're a mess," the kid pouted, crossing him arms. "At least Elena is just denying me booze. You hit me."

"Not on purpose!" I protested loudly as our friends laughed at us. Bonnie was giggling into my shoulder, trying not to make it obvious just how much amusement she got out of the fact that I just wacked her boyfriend on the head. Tyler didn't even bother hiding his laughter as he just patted Jer on the shoulder.

"If you play your cards right, you can get something out of this," the older teen winked at the kid, going to grab my whiskey again. I just gave him a dirty look and passed it to Bonnie instead.

"I'm cutting you off," I sniffed, my voice still on the bit too loud side. "And since I paid for all of this using Damon's credit card, I am so totally allowed to do that."

"Alexa, you're slurring again," Bon shook her head as she passed me back the whiskey. I paused before repeating words beginning with 's'.

"Oh shit," I snorted, before holding the bottle out to my brother. The kid stared at it for a moment, a considering look on his face, before just shrugging and taking the bottle. I cheered as he downed a good swig of whiskey, wincing at the burn, before giving the drink back to me. "If I agree to get you Jello shots, will you promise not to tell on me to Jenna?"

"I think that is fair enough," Jer laughed, shaking his head. I beamed before dragging him in for a hug.

"Yay, thanks Jer," I ruffled his hair, just about balancing on tip toes so that I could keep my arm properly wrapped around his shoulders. The kid rolled his eyes before wrapping an arm around my waist, keeping me balanced. "For the record, I would have got you those Jello shots anyways. Cos boo on Elena. It's a party and she invited you. That doesn't give her the right to deny you alcohol."

"I would pay to see you say that to her face," my idiot hybrid snickered, sharing an amused look with Bonnie. "Especially with the way that you are slurring."

"I'm not slurring," I snorted, completely ignoring the slur, before squinting at our sister through the crowd. "Come on, Jer, let's go win at life."

I could hear the others laughing behind me as I led the way through the crowd, Jeremy's hand on my shoulder a steadying weight. But I didn't care. The kid wanted Jello shots. And I wasn't going to deny him. Not after ruining his life and getting his sister killed and getting his girlfriend killed and all the other ways that I had hurt him.

"Elena!" I called my twin's name as we reached the table with the Jello shots. She was still handing out cups of punch, but that didn't stop her from rolling her eyes at me. "You're ruining Jeremy's party. You invited him here and now you aren't letting him have Jello shots even though he really wants them and you don't have the right to deny him alcohol when I say that he can have alcohol and Jello shots really aren't that bad. I had, like, nine of them upstairs and look at me, I'm fine."

"Are you drunk?" Ellie shook her head at me, completely ignoring everything that I just said.

"Of course I'm not drunk," I sighed dramatically before frowning and glancing at Bonnie. "Bon, my mouth feels weird. Am I slurring again?"

"You never stopped," she laughed, giving me back my whiskey bottle. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Tyler grabbing Jello shots, passing them to Jeremy. The kid hid them behind his back. Well, I was doing what I had promised and was getting him Jello shots. Granted, it wasn't the way that I had intended. But he couldn't moan at me and, more importantly, he couldn't tell on me to Jenna.

"I feel like I should be keeping an eye on you, especially while you're like this," my twin sighed, but I could hear the amusement in her voice.

"You can't stop me from getting drunk!" I declared loudly, grabbing a Jello shot for myself, as the two boys snuck away with their haul. "We had a deal and I will get Caroline to make sure that you don't go back on it like a meanie!"

"Why does this happen the one time I can't just ditch you with Damon?" Elena's composure broke and she out right laughed at me. "At least I don't need to worry about you throwing up."

"Pfft, I never throw up," I waved my hand, only just aware of Bonnie dodging out of the way. "Oops, soz, Bon. Should I be concerned about the spinning? Or does it mean that I just need to keep drinking?"

"I need to find someone to dump you with," my rude twin muttered under her breath, looking at the crowd, trying to find someone to take me off her hands. "Did Stefan not come?"

"Nope," I shook my head, popping the 'p', before repeating the word doing the same, giggling. It took my sister repeating my name to get me to pay attention. "Even if he was, he'd drink with me. We're drinking bros now. We make cocktails and blocktails and we have drinking games. Drinking games, Elena. He plays with me when other mean people don't."

"You know what," Elena just grabbed three Jello shots, passing them over, along with a fresh bottle of whiskey to replace my empty one. "Go have fun. I'll let Damon deal with the hangover in the morning."

"I'm a vampire, Els," I snorted before downing one of the Jello shots. "I don't get hangovers."

XXX

"Jesse," I stumbled over to the newest cutie in my life. He was sat down at the dining table, or was it a study table, which had been pushed to the edge of the room. I bumped into the table, hitting my hip on the hard wood. "Um, ouch. That wasn't supposed to happen."

"Are you okay?" Jesse asked, although his smile looked a bit strained. He kindly let me hold onto his shoulder as I jumped up to sit on the table. And if it took me a couple of goes, then he kindly didn't mention them.

"Eh, I'll heal," I shrugged it off, before passing him a Jello shot. I had pinched a few more before Elena shooed me away. She was apparently serious about making drunk me someone else's problem. It was kinda hilarious but I played along. Especially since I knew that my twin was more than capable of killing my buzz. "That's the cool thing about being what we are, innit?" I gave him a wink before bro punching his shoulder. "But how are you doing, cutie?"

"I'm good," the new vampire laughed before shaking his head. "Cutie?"

"Cos you're cute," I shrugged, having my own Jello shot. "Like, all of you is so cute. Your laugh and your smile and your face. If I wasn't so in love with Damon, then I would totally be tempted to climb you like a tree, cos hot damn babes." That got me a genuine laugh from Jesse, with absolutely no tension in sight. "It's just a shame that I have no one that I can hook you up with, cos I am definitely not letting you go."

"I feel like I should be concerned," the cutie teased, pretending to scoot his chair back. I snorted in an incredibly unladylike way before flicking his shoulder. Luckily for me, his vampireness meant that I didn't need to feel guilty that it was slightly harder than I was intending.

"Rude," I sniffed dramatically, drinking some whiskey to make myself feel better. "I should totally lock you in the cell under the Boarding House."

"You have a sex dungeon?" Jesse raised an eyebrow, accepting the second Jello shot that I shoved his way.

"Lol, it isn't a sex dungeon," I sniggered before pausing, my eyes going wide as a lot of naughty thoughts appeared in my head. "We could totally make it a sex dungeon. Ah no, we can't. Fuck. Cos we need to lock naughty people in there."

"How many people do you lock in your dungeon?" the other vampire shook his head, completely falling down the rabbit hole with me.

"Erm, quite a few," I tapped my lip as I tried to think. "I've been locked in there before."

"You have?" Jesse interrupted, as I completely failed in trying to remember who had ended up in that cell beneath the Boarding House since the Salvatores returned a couple of years ago.

"Yep," I nodded, playing with the empty Jello shot pot, scrunching and unscrunching it. "I was compelled by this asshole called Kol who is, lol, nope, was, an Original vampire to kill Jeremy to stop us from finding the map to this cure for vampirism awakening this other asshole called Silas."

The cutie blinked, taking a minute to process my words, before frowning, "That sounds like quite a story."

"Oh, hon, it was a huge thing," I laughed, shaking my head. "Like seriously, the past two years of my life have been like a soap opera. Did Caroline not explain any of it?"

"No, she was too focused on helping me control my hunger and learn compulsion."

"Eh, that's fair enough," I shrugged. "I am totally awesome at teaching control, by the way, if you wany any help. I'll get Stefan to tell you, I totally helped with his ripperness. Like, he didn't rip off any heads while I was teaching him." I went to look around for my adorable Stef before frowning. "Ah fuck, he didn't come. Boo." I pulled out my phone instead and sent him a text.

'Stef, send me a voice note about how awesome I was teaching you control :)'

I nodded in satisfaction at the lack of typos in my message, "Once he's sent it, I'll show you and you'll realise just how awesome I am." Jesse laughed and opened his mouth, but before he could, I felt a sharp pain on my palm. The plastic cup that I had been playing with had split, the edge cutting into my hand. It was only a small cut and I pouted down at it, "Well, that's rude."

But it was the sharp breath from my companion that had me looking up. Jesse's face had vamped out and he was staring down at the cut on my palm with a hungry look on his face. I clenched my fist before reaching out to gently touch his shoulder, "Hey, Jesse, cutie, are you okay?"

He nodded, pushing himself to his feet, stumbling slightly as he moved too quickly, "I'm fine. I just… I need to get out of here."

"O… kay…" I muttered, frowning as I watched him push his way through the partying students. "Um, I feel like I should tell someone about this."

Before I could, I was joined by another familiar face. Luke sat down next to me, passing me a red cup full of cheap beer, "You look confused."

"I'm trying to work out if I broke Caroline's friend," I frowned at the door again before switching my attention back to the blond. "I don't suppose you know where any of my friends are? I would go looking but walking seems to be a bit of a challenge right now."

"How drunk are you?" my own friend laughed, a cheeky smirk on his face. "Because you, Alexa, are definitely slurring."

"Lol, yeah, that's been happening for a while," I snorted, tapping out a group text. I think it made sense. But hey, if it didn't, then at least they would come looking for me to find out what I meant to say. "I am having fun."

"I can tell," Luke sniggered, gesturing to my obvious sex hair. "So do I finally get to meet this mysterious boyfriend of yours?"

"He's speaking to someone right now but I'll introduce you when he tracks me down," I couldn't stop myself from giggling. "Cos he totally won't let everyone enjoy drunk me without getting involved."

XXX

I was rudely dragged away from my friend by my twin sister. She appeared next to me as I was letting out snorting laughs at something Luke said, before grabbing my arm and pulling me off the table. My legs nearly gave way as they hit the floor and her eye roll as she wrapped my arm around her shoulders had me snorting again. It was an amusement that Luke shared as he laughed before returning my goodbye wave.

"Els," I slurred, resting more of my weight against her. "That was rude. Now it totally isn't my fault that he thinks you're a rude person."

"Of course not," my sister shook her head at me before pulling out her phone. She opened up my group text. "What does this mean?"

I frowned down at it, trying to get my eyes to focus on the small text. Ah yes. 'Jesse weird. Go find. Am worried. Wanted a piece of me. Totes not a sex thing.'

"Erm, his face changed when I cut my hand and I think he wanted to eat me?" I tried to remember what happened, which was a bottle of whiskey ago. After that, Luke kept me topped up with cheap beer. "Did anyone find him?"

"I think Caroline went looking for him," Elena sighed before leading me towards the stairs. "Let's get you upstairs. Once you've sobered up a bit, you can join the party again."

"Boo," I pouted, doing my best to be difficult. Not that it was tricky. Because my legs definitely didn't want to work. I knew that it was sign that I had drunk far too much. But I didn't care. I was here to party and have a good time and forget about all the shit that we had been through recently. And if that meant drinking far too much, then shit, I would do it. "What happened to 'go have fun'?"

"That went out the window when everyone else gave responsibility of you to me," she rolled her eyes and my pout deepened. Because I did find it odd that no one else came to track me down. I knew for a fact that Tyler and Jamie were still around. Bonnie and Jeremy had snuck out a while ago, giggling together, but the other two boys, plus Caroline, could have come to find out answers from me.

Fortunately for me, before she could say anything else mean, my sister was soon distracted in the best way possible. Sad boy, fuck, I needed to try and remember his name, walked in, immediately giving my sister a not sad smile, before approaching her, "Okay, this isn't the lamest party that I've ever been to."

"Aaron," Ellie looked delighted and I snorted into her neck. "Hey, you made it."

"Barely," the blond shrugged as they moved to sit on the steps. Elena carefully sat me in front of her and I slumped to the side, resting against her legs. "I think I fell asleep. I've not long woke up."

"Weird," Elena quickly distracted the kid, because he only fell asleep due to Jesse's compulsion. "Well, this will make it better." She held up the Jello shots that she had confiscated from me earlier.

"Rude, those are mine," I muttered into her knee. "I'm not appreciating your rudeness tonight, Els."

Fortunately for me, my twin was too distracted by sad boy's laugh, "Oh, now I know why Wes told me to stay away from you. Cheers." They downed the shots together, laughing at the boozy hit. "Mmm, you're trouble."

"So, hey. How do you know Wes, anyway?" Ellie asked, as I played with the flowers on her sandals.

"He's my legal guardian," sad boy… Aaron?... shrugged, sounding like he had answered that question a lot of times.

"Really?" my twin frowned and the blond gave a confirming hum. "What about your parents?"

"Uh, dead."

"Mine," I coughed loudly as I was ignored, and Elena amended her words after tapping me on the head. "Ours, too. Birth and adopted."

"Whoa, dark," the boy looked at my sister, a considering look on his face. "No offence, but usually, I'm the biggest freak in the room. So, how'd it happen?"

"Uh, our car went over a bridge. I lived, they didn't," Ellie's grip on my shoulder tightened for a moment before she relaxed. "You?"

"I was six," sad boy answered the question, sounding a lot calmer than I would have expected. "And we went camping, and I woke up to the sound of my mom screaming. I went to check it out, and I saw blood everywhere. They had bite marks all over their necks."

Oh shit. I knew exactly what had happened to sad boy's parents. Yikes, that was fucked up. At least he didn't die?

"Bite marks?" Ellie repeated, her grip on my shoulder tight again.

"Yeah," the boy nodded. "They said a bear got into the camp. So, I shuffled around distant relatives for a while. Eventually, Wes took me in. So, Wes is the closest thing to family that I have left."

Ah fuck. Well, there goes my dreams of killing the creepy doctor. My sister would let her sad boy friend lose anyone else. Goddamnit, this boy was rather annoying at times.

"Wow, I think we both need another Jello shot," Elena tried to act casual, but I knew her well enough to see that she was freaking out. "And I should probably give this one to someone else before she says something inappropriate. I'll be right back. I'm glad you came."

"I wasn't going to say anything inappropriate," I protested as my twin pulled me to my feet, dragging me back through the crowd. "Even if I was tempted to say that you two should just fuck. I mean, you're both single."

Fortunately, before I could get scolded and I could tell that Elena was definitely tempted to, Caroline appeared. She glanced between us, a worried look on her face, "Hey, have you seen Jesse? I've been looking for him since I saw Alexa's text, but I can't find him anywhere."

"No," Ellie shook her head, continuing to drag me through the crowd. The blonde followed, raising her voice.

"Wait, where are you going?"

"Somewhere quiet so that Alexa can call Damon and make sure that he doesn't kill Dr Wes."

XXX

"Elena's ruining my life," I complained down the phone as my sister dragged me outside. Caroline was by her side, with the two discussing Jesse's disappearance. I just did was I was ordered by my annoying twin. Which was to call my boyfriend and make sure that he didn't kill Wes. Her determination to keep the evil doctor alive was annoying, especially he had been torturing and experimenting on Jesse. The cutie deserved to get his revenge. But no, now that she knew that he was important to sad boy, she was insistent that the dangerous man remain alive.

"Did you get drunk again?" Damon just laughed at me and I pouted. I knew that I didn't sound sober, even if the cool evening air had killed some of my buzz. But it wasn't fair that he laughed at me. He wasn't allowed to mock my drunkenness until we had drunk sex. Unfortunately, a part of me was beginning to fear that drunk sex just wouldn't happen. Courtesy of fucking Wes.

"Well, yes, but that's not the point," I knew that he could hear the pout in my voice from the way he laughed again. "Stop laughing at me."

"Stop slurring then."

"I'm going to add you to my list of mean people," I grumbled, narrowing my eyes. "Elena is at the top of that list. But if you continue like this, I'll reconsider my ordering."

Of course, my words weren't exactly appreciated by Elena. She glanced over her shoulder at me, looking less than impressed at the fact that I was being distracted by my boyfriend. It wasn't my fault. It was just so easy to get off topic when I spoke to him.

"Alexa, stop getting distracted."

"Ugh fine," I sighed dramatically before turning my attention back to my boyfriend. "So, what have you learnt from doctor creepy? Does he make you miss professor creepy? At least Shane was easier to bully, and he didn't do disturbing experiments. He just had a weird hardon on Silas. Hm, I wonder if he ever met him before he died? It would be so funny if he didn't. He did all his weird shit so he could bend over for the guy. Damn, there's no way of me finding out now."

"Ally," Damon's voice stopped my rambling, still sounding far too amused for my liking. Once I confirmed that I was listening, he explained exactly what he had learnt from Dr Maxfield. I frowned as I listened, letting my sister tug me forward. Her and Caroline were still talking, trying to work out where Jesse had gone. But I didn't care enough to listen to that. No, what I was hearing from Damon was far too disturbing. And it made me so annoyed that Elena wanted to keep Dr Maxfield alive. And for a boy that she didn't even really know. This man was a threat to so many of her other loved ones. But nope, she was going to protect him for the sad boy stranger. For all she knew, he did creepy experiments on vampires too.

"Oh shit," I breathed out once my boyfriend had finished. "So Wes was experimenting on Jesse to make him want to eat vampires?"

"That's what Doogie said," Damon confirmed, nodding as I heard him pottering around the lab. "And apparently, once he starts, he can't stop."

"Well, shit, I got lucky," I muttered before wincing at Damon sternly spoke my name, not letting me even try to bullshit my way out of explaining my words. "I may have accidently cut my hand on a Jello shot pot in front of Jesse. His face vamped out but he ran away before anything happened. I knew he wanted to eat me in the non-sexy way. I just thought that it was the booze talking. I don't know if I should feel vindicated or not."

"I knew that leaving you alone was a bad idea," my boyfriend rolled his eyes and I pouted again.

"Rude, nothing happened."

"Because you got lucky."

"Nuh uh, nothing bad happened at all. Jesse didn't eat me and other than a tiny cut, I didn't injure myself. And no one did anything to me," I paused before wincing. "Well, I did kinda accidentally whack Jeremy on the head, but I didn't get hurt so that doesn't count," I glanced up when I sensed the dirty look that my twin was giving me. "Uh, fine, Elena, calm your tits, I'll ask him." Damon let out a questioning noise and I sighed. "Elena wants me to find out if doctor creepy is still alive."

"He is as of now," Damon shrugged and I relayed his words to my sister.

"Make sure that he stays that way," she ordered me before we all paused walking. I tugged my wrist free, turning my back to the other two girls as I continued speaking to my boyfriend. They just carried on working out where Jesse could have gone.

"She wants him to stay alive," I grumbled, looking around the grounds. This place was even creepier at night. Although that could be because I knew what creepy shit happened in this place now. Ugh, I hated this damn college.

"Why?" Damon scoffed, sounding as impressed as I did.

"Because he is sad boy's legal guardian and since she won't spread her legs for him, she wants to keep him happy by not letting him lose anyone else."

"This is going to blow up her in face and get someone in trouble, most likely you."

"I know, I know," I sighed, shaking my head. "And I definitely don't think that Wes should be left alive. But she'll lecture me to death if you kill him. Please, baby, play nice until I can persuade her otherwise?"

Damon was silent for a moment before sighing, "I won't kill him yet."

"Thank you, Day," I knew that I sounded far too relieved. "I'll tell Elena what you discovered. Maybe once she knows just how dangerous he is, she will reconsider her determination to keep him alive for sad boy."

XXX

I was sent on ahead to make sure that Damon didn't kill Wes. I was offended on my boyfriend's behalf. Cos, like, he had promised me that he wouldn't kill him. And he wouldn't break that promise to me. Especially since he knew that he would want me to be there when he did. He always did get amused when I got a kick out of him killing people. Yikes, that makes me sound bad. Please ignore that.

Of course, all thoughts of offence flew out of my head when I entered the corridor leading to creepy Wes' office. I paused mid-step as I stared at the scene in front of me. Was Jesse biting Damon? Holy fuck was Jesse who was addicted to vampire blood eating my boyfriend?!

"Damon!" I screamed out, darting forward as I tried to work out to separate the two. My booze addled brain was not thinking clearly as I just shouted. "Jesse, stop it! Let go now. Jesse! Damon! Someone sober please help me!"

Damon's eyes met mine over the other vampire's shoulder. His fingers were digging into Jesse's shoulders as he tried to push him off. But whatever Wes did to the poor boy must have increased his strength, as my strong-ass boyfriend just couldn't get rid of him.

"Ally, he's gonna tear my head off," my boyfriend groaned, sounding far too weak for my liking.

"Fuck!" I shouted, before picking up a piece of wood. I threw it at the boyfriend eating vampire. Jesse's shoulder twitched and I got a horrible idea. I crouched down again, picking up a shard of glass from the shattered door. "Please don't yell at me for this." I sliced open my palm, shouting out my pain, before waving my hand in the air, "Jesse, smell how good my blood is. Come have a bite. I taste so much better than him!"

It was some kind of miracle. Because the smell of my fresh blood had Jesse letting go of Damon. My boyfriend dropped to the floor, hand coming up to his neck, pressing against the gaping wound. There was a very unimpressed look on his face as he tried to push himself up. Of course, I didn't focus on that. Instead, I was looking at the very hungry look on the cutie's face.

Jesse was staring at me, Damon's blood smeared around his mouth, veins rippling beneath his eyes. His gaze was fixed on my palm, which was still dripping blood. Uh, that was not good. Not good at all.

"Jesse, hon, let's not do anything rash," I chuckled weakly, slowly backing away. The cutie was content to just stare at me, seeming transfixed by my blood still dripping to the floor. Fuck, how deep did I cut myself?

Of course, that wasn't to last for long. As I stepped back, my foot landed on a shard of glass. It cracked beneath my weight and the noise jolted the other vampire out of his trance. He shot forward at the movement and I let out a little shriek, my still drunk mind trying to keep up with the movement.

Jesse went for my neck, his fangs still stained with my boyfriend's blood, and I held up my hands. I was just lucky that he was acting only on instinct. It meant that I was able to out think him, even in my current state. I just about managed to wrap my hands around his neck, flicking my wrists. It took my brain a second to realise that the danger was gone, that Jesse's body was on the floor. When it did, I shot forward, needing to check on Damon.

My boyfriend had managed to push himself to his knees, that unimpressed look still on his face as I dropped down next to him. I reached out, checking on his neck the best I could. It looked like it was healing, which was the only reason why I placed my hand over his. I knew that I couldn't avoid that look for long, not now that I had checked on him. Especially when Damon cleared his throat. I sighed, finally meeting his gaze, "In my defence, I'm still very drunk right now."

My boyfriend rolled his eyes at that, before using his free hand to grab mine, making sure that my palm was healing. Content that it was healing, a lot quicker than his neck, might I add, he let out a grumble, "That was not sensible."

"Nope," I agreed, wrapping my arm around his waist, helping him stand up. My boyfriend rested his weight against me and that had my heart clenching. Because it meant that he had lost far too much blood. Thank fuck that I had arrived in time, that I had sped ahead of the others, that I had actually listened to my sister for once. "But it worked. And that is all that I am focusing on right now."

It was then that the other two arrived.

Caroline cried out Jesse's name, rushing over to crouch down next to the unconscious vampire, "What happened? Jesse?!"

"He's just on a snapped neck timeout," I quickly spoke up, resting my head against Damon's. "He'll be fine. Although, we might not be when he wakes up."

"What do you mean?" Elena asked, glancing at the blood covering my boyfriend's neck, carefully noting the way that he was leaning against me so heavily.

"Well, he was going to kill Damon," I carefully left out all the details of my stupid plan. And luckily for me, Damon did the same. "I managed to get him away and snap his neck. But he was feeling on his blood and he would have rippered his head off, a la Stefan."

Damon spoke up, supporting my point, "Once he had the taste of vampire blood, there was nothing stopping him. Except, apparently, the scent of more blood. Go ask Dr Frankenstein." The mention of creepy Wes had him groaning, finally standing all the way up. "I'll go deal with him." He pressed a kiss to my lips, murmuring, "Try not to do something else stupid, my foolish girl."

I watched him walk back into the lab with a sigh. My heart clenched in my chest as my boyfriend returned to the dangerous doctor. Hopefully, after this, I could persuade Elena to just let us kill him. Because Wes was a threat. And sad boy's happiness was not worth risking everyone that I cared about.

XXX

"Soooo, what now?" I asked as we stared down at Jesse's body. We had somehow managed to carry him up to the dorm room without anyone seeing us. Of course, it helped that Tyler was the one doing most of the carrying. Elena had called him over, when Damon disappeared back into the lab. I knew that she had ulterior motives when she did so, cos Care and I were more than capable of sneaking away the unconscious vampire eating vampire. No, she called him over so that he could help distract me from the fact that my boyfriend was chilling with a very dangerous man.

"We need to find somewhere to put him," Ellie sighed, shaking her head, passing me a blood bag. "He can't be near vampires, not if a bit of blood will make him lose control. I would suggest that Bonnie spell him in somewhere, but she can't do magic now."

"We could always put him in the cell beneath the Boarding House," Tyler suggested as I stared down at the unconscious cutie. It just wasn't fair. Jesse didn't deserve this. He was such a sweet guy. That asshole only did this to him because he was in the wrong place, at the wrong time. And I really wished that we could kill Wes. But we can't, because he was the only one who could cure Jesse of this. And we would cure Jesse of this. I wouldn't let this doom him. He was one of us now and I had failed too many of our gang already. I wouldn't fail Jesse. Not so soon after failing Amara.

"That means bleeding him or vervaining him," Caroline winced, shaking her head. "And after being locked up by Wes, I don't want to lock him up in a cell of our own."

"I could always ask Carmen?" I offered, passing Elena my empty blood bag. I carefully sat down next to the cutie, making sure not to disturb him. We had dosed him up on vervain, which, for some reason, we still had, courtesy of Megan. Because we were idiots. Even though Ellie had used it to torture me and Damon a few weeks back, we hadn't thought to ditch the damn stuff.

"Who is Carmen?" my hybrid brother asked, exchanging a glance with the two girls.

"She's a witch," I shrugged, wiping away the blood that still stained Jesse's mouth. "Me and Damon were trying to woo her over the summer, to get her to do a location spell for Stefan and Bonnie. But she played hard to get. Which was rude, cos I even offered her a threesome and I don't share Damon with anyone."

"Let's get you more water," my sister muttered under her breath, shaking her head at my words. While she did so, Caroline took my offered opportunity, desperately seeking a way to look after Jesse that didn't involve hurting him.

"Do you think she would seal him into a room of our choosing?" the blonde asked, sitting down on the cutie's other side.

"I mean, it would involve protecting people," I mused, tapping my nails against the water bottle my twin shoved into my hand. "But now that Bonnie is back, I can persuade her to give Carmen a peak at her grimoires. She was very keen to see them the last time that we spoke. Hopefully she is still in the area."

"Find out if she can help us," Care nodded sharply and I pulled my phone out of my bra. I tapped out a quick text before pausing.

"Could someone read through this, just to make sure that it makes sense?" I gave my phone a wiggle. "Cos if I'm being honest, I'm still not feeling one hundred percent sober and I don't want to fuck this up."

"I'll do it," my blonde friend rolled her eyes before carefully taking my phone. While she checked my text, I looked over at my twin.

"I was thinking one of the rooms at the Boarding House? There are a couple of decent sized ones, that won't make him feel like he is being locked up in a cell again. I can even arrange for a fridge to be put in there, so he has easy access to blood bags."

"That could work," she nodded. "Think you can get Damon to agree? Because he might not be happy with you being under the same roof as a vampire that would eat you."

"Well, yeah, you do have a point there," I grumbled before glancing back down at Jesse. "But I'll find a way to persuade him."

"Done," Caroline announced, passing me back my phone, a confident look on her lovely face. "Hopefully she'll get back to you soon. I don't want to keep vervaining him until we can find somewhere safe for him."

"She's normally quite good at getting back to me," I nodded, tapping my phone against my knee. "Of course, this will be the one time that she isn't. But I can always play the Bonnie card if I need to." I paused before frowning. "Fuck, I didn't even tell her that Bonnie was alive again. Hopefully she wasn't looking into ways to bring her back, cos she doesn't like to have her time wasted. Double fuck, did I tell her that Stefan's memories were back?"

"You did," Caroline gave me a tolerant smile, shaking her head. "I saw it in your message history."

"While a part of me is pissed that you looked through my message history," I rolled my eyes. "I do appreciate you alleviating that particular worry. Now all I need to worry about is persuading my overprotective boyfriend to allow a vampire eating ripper vampire to live in one of our spare rooms."

"Well, if anyone can do it, it's you, Alex," Tyler patted my shoulder before sitting down on Elena's bed, looking at Jesse.

"I'm going to have to use all my best tricks," I sighed, shaking my head. "Wish me luck."

While I waited for Damon and Carmen to reply to my messages, I helped everyone tidy up. It was the early hours of the morning now, far too late to still be awake, and most of the students agreed as they were tucked up in bed. I would also want to be in my bed, but until I heard back from my boyfriend, my mind refused to turn off. So I kept myself busy by picking up red cups and Jello shot pots, sticking in them in the rubbish bag in my hand.

"I hope we can help Jesse," Caroline sighed, glancing over at my sister. They were on one side of the large social room, while I worked on the other side, Tyler nearby. They had apparently agreed not to leave me by myself, as they were concerned that I would go to Wes' lab to check on Damon. And everyone shared the thought that I should not be near the creepy doctor until I was one hundred percent sobered up. Which wasn't fair, because I was fairly sure that I was completely sober by this point. I hadn't drunk any booze since we went to go look for Jesse. And I had been forced to drink plenty of water and blood since we returned to the dorm building. But hey, if that was what they wanted, I wasn't going to disagree just yet. "He's one of the good ones and he doesn't deserve this."

"I know," my twin agreed, shaking her head. "We were just lucky that Alexa was able to stop him without killing him. Because he's dangerous and that was exactly what Wes wanted."

"Do you think we can get him to create a cure?" the blonde's voice was quiet as she shuffled closer to Elena. "Because I don't know if we can teach him control when it comes to this."

"I think if anyone can force Dr Maxfield to do it, it's Damon," Ellie's voice was just as quiet, and I could feel her glancing in my direction. But I kept my back to them, making out that I wasn't listening in to their conversation, continuing to pick up cups and pots. "Right now, Jesse is a threat to Alexa and he knows that she won't let him die. So the only alternative is to get Wes to create a cure."

"Relying on Damon still feels weird," Caroline laughed slightly, her blonde curls bouncing as she shook her head. "But you're right, he won't let anything happen to Alexa."

"Hey," I was distracted from the conversation behind me by Bonnie's voice. I glanced up to see my friend smiling at me, a sympathetic look in her eyes. "Tyler told me what happened. Are you okay?"

"I just feel bad for Jesse," I sighed, shaking my head. "He doesn't deserve any of this. And I don't know how to fix it. We're relying on a crazy doctor to help us cure him. There's no way that he will do what we want."

Bonnie was silent for a moment, before speaking slowly, "I know that Wes used science to turn Jesse into a ripper, but I can look through my grimoires to see if I can find a spell that might help?"

"Thanks, Bon," I gave her a small smile, ditching my bag to give her a quick hug. "That would be great. If it means not relying on Wes, then I'll take it." I paused, before shaking my head. "Shit, speaking of grimoires, do you mind if my other witchy friend takes a look at them? She's called Carmen and I was trying to get her to help me over the summer."

"Carmen, I know that name," my friend frowned for a moment before pushing the thought away. "She can have a look. I know that you wouldn't ask me if you didn't trust her."

"She's an interesting one, but she's got a good head and a good heart," I nodded. "When she responds to my text, I'll tell her that she has permission. And I'll arrange a time for when you are both free. Cos she doesn't get to look at them without you around, Bon."

"I appreciate that," Bonnie gave me one of her beautiful smiles and it got me smiling in response. Even for a moment. It was the sound of my sister mentioning Damon's name again that had me sighing.

"Hey, Bon," I shuffled closer, lowering my voice. "Can you cover for me? I haven't heard from Damon since he went back to see Wes and it is really beginning to worry me. I would go check on him but the three worrywarts won't let me."

"I don't know, I feel like I shouldn't be letting you go either."

"Please? I promise I'll be careful. But it's eating me up inside. He never ignores my messages like this. Even if it's just an 'okay', he always responds. And I won't be able to relax until I see that he is okay."

My friend looked at me, eyes studying my face, before sighing, "Only if you promise to be careful. Because your sister can kill me now, if I let something happen to you."

"Thank you," I breathed out, pulling her into a tight hug. "And you don't need to worry about Els, I'll protect you from her."

Bon shook her head at me, returning the hug, before wandering over to Tyler. The hybrid looked up at the former witch with a smile, quickly getting distracted by her question. I waited until his back was to me, before looking over at the other two. Caroline and Elena were still deep in conversation, discussing the best ways to look after Jesse until we could find a way to cure him of his vampire eating ripperness.

With everyone distracted, I snuck out of the room, using my human speed. I was thankful that I was only wearing sandals, as my pumps would have made far too much noise. It meant that I was able to sneak out without anyone noticing me. And I couldn't let anyone notice me. I had to find my boyfriend and make sure that he was okay.

I stared around the empty lab, my chest growing tight, my heart clenching.

There was no sign of my boyfriend. Nor was there any sign of Dr Wes Maxfield. The room was empty but it was the faint scent of vervain in the air that had me panicking. Because vervain meant nothing good. It meant that Damon could be in trouble, be in danger. Wes had proved that he would hurt vampires, that he would fuck them up with his creep experiments. And now my Damon was missing.

I knew that I should have come here earlier, that I shouldn't have let the others keep my separated from him. But I played along, because I didn't want to worry them. Because I wasn't sober, because I had stupidly drunk far too much at that party. And now I was regretting it.

Because Damon was missing. And I didn't know where I could go to find him. I didn't have anyone nearby who could help me find him. And save him from Wes. Wes, who had been experimenting on Jesse. Who had turned him into a vampire eating vampire who was capable of ripping off heads. And fuck knows if he would have done worse. And now my boyfriend was in his clutches.

The vervain still lingering in the air didn't help with my tight chest. My nails dug into the skin above my heart as my legs gave out. I collapsed to the floor, gasping in any breath that I could, as I looked around the empty room. There were absolutely no signs as to what had happened. And Damon's phone was off, my calls not going through. Fuck, I knew that something was wrong when he didn't reply to me. Why didn't I trust him instincts and come looking for him? Why did I let the others keep me away? And now he was missing. The man that I loved was missing.

Oh fuck.
