"When is the Easter Bunny coming?" Louis asked his older sister, Emma. "I want to give him a hug!" "Not till later, Louis. We need to stay in here while Mama and Papa hide the eggs." Louis pouted, but nodded. "Okay."
There was a knock at the door. "Mama!" Louis cried, "Is it time for eggs?" Marinette lifted him into her arms. "Well, it would have been. But I dropped the eggs and now there all broken." Louis's lip begin to wobble. "All broken?" "Cheer up, sport," Adrien said. "Grandma and Grandpa have plenty of eggs and we're going over there later. I thought it would fun to do an art project here." "A art project?" Emma echoed, looking excited. She loved art. "How about we make our own paper eggs and color them just how'd you like." Emma nodded. "Sounds like fun."
"I'm going to make my eggs special for the Easter Bunny," Louis said determinedly, climbing into his chair. "That's the spirit!" "Hugo, would you like to help me pick some flowers for the baskets outside?" Marinette asked her oldest son. "Okay."
Louis watched Mommy go. "Mommy looks pretty in her Easter dress," he said. Marinette's dress was a bright red color, and she had woven her hair into one long braid. "What about me?" Adrien asked, playing along. "Models always look good Daddy," he said, seriously, and Adrien laughed. Adrien was wearing a white shirt and a green tie. "That's true sometimes, Louis. But did I tell you the story of when Mama dressed up as a bunny?" Louis giggled. "No! Tell the story, please!"
Emma looked up too, reaching for a purple crayon. "Well, it all started when….
"Easter egg cookies! Get your cookies here!" Marinette shouted, standing outside her parent's bakery. She wanted the cookies to sell, but if Adrien or Cat Noir showed up, she would hop away and hide! Her father had somehow convinced her to wear the pink bunny suit that he had found up in the attic. Marinette wished it would have stayed up there, but here she was.
A little ways away, Cat Noir sunned himself on the rooftop. Last night's akuma had made him sleepy, and he loved relaxing in the sun. He felt his ears perk up as he heard Marinette's voice coming from down the block. Did he hear something about cookies?
"Good morning, Princess!" Cat grinned, walking towards her. Marinette turned and gasped. Cat Noir! "Or should I say, good morning, Bunny?" "My dad made me wear the bunny suit. We're selling Easter cookies." "Relax, you look cute. Cookies, huh?" Marinette giggled. "I should have known. You could hear the word cookie from a mile away." "Well, I better "hop" to checking out these cookies. Be back soon, Princess!"
Cat bought an assortment of cookies decorated like bunnies, chicks, eggs. He strolled out of the bakery munching. "I'm off to enjoy my snack, Princess. But I'll see you soon." "Cat?" Marinette asked. "Yes?" "There's an egg hunt in the park on Saturday. Would you want to be partners?" Cat's eyes grew soft. "I'll say yes on one condition. We both be bunnies!" "Cat!" "See you in the suit, Princess!" he grinned, leaping away on his baton.
He kept smiling as he headed for home. Marinette was cute, even when she didn't have floppy ears.
"Miss us?" Marinette's voice rang out. "Papa was telling us a story about you as a bunny," Emma giggled. "Did he?" Marinette narrowed her eyes. Louis giggled. "I'll be back soon," Louis said, heading back to the nursery.
Awhile later, he emerged the basket of eggs all ready to take to Grandma's. "Mama, this is for you," Louis said, shyly, handing Marinette his picture. "Oh, Louis," Marinette said.
It was of her and Cat, in their bunny suits. "Hoppy Easter, Mommy," Louis told her. Marinette hugged her son. It would a Easter a remember, bunny suit or not.
