The Edo Period… A time of simpler lives to walk among. Many tales have been spoken about this period, but have you heard of the legendary summoner? In a far-off land stood a castle where men in robes and round armor stood. They held spears as they patrolled around the castle. Out from the trees, a figure leaped. It soared and flew in front of the pale Full Moon, the silhouette having horns as if it was a devil appearing. It fell back to the trees as the castle remained in sight. There were more men in robes bringing in what seemed like wheelbarrows of meat and vegetables. As the men in robes rolled the food in, the gates in the front opened up. The men in armor greeted those delivering the food. "Are those for Lord Nelson?" one of the guards asked.

"It is, especially from a village a third of a day away," one of the transporters muttered. The guards understood and allowed the transporters to carry the food inside the gate. The silhouette saw the food being dragged inside, the horns twitching. He hid as there was an enormously giant slob of a man. He wore a green robe, but his girth was twice as big as the rest of the body. He also wore a cape on the back and his raven hair didn't cover the top of his pointy head, not that the rotund cheeks with red swirl markings helped. His flabulous stomach had a tattoo of a two-sided wrench with wings protruding.

"Lord Nelson!" another transporter spoke up. The obese man turned to the transporter. "Our raid on the Kenippon Village was a success. Their strongest warriors couldn't hold a stick to us, let alone a sword."

"I figured that village had no protection," Nelson grumbled. "The food and Ryo Berries had to be plentiful."

"A decent amount of food, but the money was pitiful."

"At least I'll be satisfied with the food. How soon until the food is ready?" The request made the transporter blink.

"My apologies, Lord Nelson… I did not know what you were talking about. I will ask." As he left, it seemed that Nelson had what he was after. Outside, the two guards at the gate seemed relaxed as another transporter emerged from the gate.

"Well, that might have been the easiest village we raided in a while," he muttered. "Still, I can't shake this feeling from one of the elders."

"About what?" one of the guards wondered. "It can't be that serious. You probably must be hungry."

"Maybe," the transporter shrugged. "It's just that she brought up someone named 'The Summoner.' Do you know?" The guards shook their heads.

"They think they can summon some sort of demon," the other guard joked. "Still, The Summoner? What kind of name is that!?"

"If that guy does come after Lord Nelson, we have plenty of methods to take him down," the first guard assured. In the trees were a pair of red eyes and a massive grin. It appeared for a second before vanishing. The first guard saw it. "Hey, did you see a smiling face in the woods?" The second guard and the transporter blinked.

"Say, aren't we supposed to get something to eat soon?" the second guard reminded. The transporter had an idea.

"Let me see if I can get you some Takoyaki made," he offered before he left. The guards started to refocus before the first guard felt a rather unusual chill.

"Say, Yamato…" he voiced. "Did it just get colder? Like colder than normal?" The second guard didn't feel anything unusual.

"No, I can't feel it," he denied. Then, the same smile emerged. The guards felt the presence. "Now I do!" They turned to the smile and the red eyes while a cloud of darkness began to emanate.

"What the hell is that!?"

"Just pierce it!" They stabbed the cloud, but it didn't strike anything. Instead, purple flames enveloped the staffs. It reached the hands where they shrieked and tried to shake off the flames as a blue orb zoomed after and blasted the guards down. They were strewn on the ground unconscious. The cloud dissipated. Inside, there was another guard monitoring the halls. He seemed unaware of a ball of lightning zipping at him.

"Huh?" he irked as he turned to the ball of lightning. It unfurled; a web untangled as it wrapped around the guard. The web wrapped around him before he was shocked. He let out a terrified scream as he fell. The web soon evaporated, but the guard wasn't moving. Another transporter was with another guard down another corridor.

"Listen, those villagers know that they have no power against Lord Nelson," the guard assured. "Them saying that a summoner will come and face him is ludicrous."

"I know, but the idea of someone to be this summoner would be better off in Grand Jipang," the transporter pointed out. "Not raiding a castle by a Grand Lord."

"See? It's a sensible idea to focus on the next village over some ridiculous wish." That's when the transporter stepped on some seeds that were planted. The transporter felt and lifted his straw sandal.

"Great, I don't want these to get ruined by your cooks' laziness." The guard wasn't so keen that it was sloppiness.

"I don't think Lord Nelson has these kinds of seeds." That's when the seeds opened, and vines launched out. It entangled the transporter in vines and began to glow.

"HELP! It's sucking on me!" He reached for the guard, but the guard wanted no part of the vines. He did have an idea on what it might be.

"Can it be? Is it The Summoner?" He dashed off as the transporter fell to the ground. He reached for the guard who was too far away. He couldn't move with how weak he tried to reach.

"Help… Ryunosuke!" It was useless. The guard turned another corner when a blast of fire engulfed him. A few seconds later, he was severely burned as he fell. The commotion made Nelson pause eating dumplings.

"What's going on!?" he growled. "What's making me stop eating my 16th and last meal of the day!?" One guard who had his robe and armor stripped came to Nelson.

"My apologies, milord!" he gasped. "But… The Summoner! He's here!" Nelson blinked as he wanted to dismiss the chaos.

"You fool!" He threw a bone at the guard, striking him on the head. "That village didn't summon a summoner! This is why I withdrew your feeding properties three times prior to tonight!"

"But milord!"

"No buts! Find out why there's so much noise!"

"Ye- Yes, sir!" The guard left before more noise was heard. Guards turned to find blue stars spinning and flying at them. The glowing stars passed by the guards, but the walls were torn. The stars fell apart and became water, splashing the floor.

"Shurikens made of water?" one guard gawked.

"What kind of demonic entity is this!?" another guard questioned. They turned to the path where a flurry of leaves stormed onto them. The leaves sliced apart the spears, the armor and the clothing before a cascade of blue orbs struck the guards. Hearing that the commotion was getting louder instead of easing up, Nelson became concerned.

"I don't know who the hell you are, and I don't give a damn!" he snorted before he picked up a sense. To the side, the silhouette stood on a branch looking back at Nelson. "Are you The Summoner?" The silhouette didn't respond. Instead, it looked on menacingly with its chocolate brown eyes the only part of the body to be seen. "You prefer to keep your identity a secret, huh? When this is over, all you'll be is a waste of time!" He unsheathed a curved sword as the silhouette threw a diamond-shaped knife with a loop on the handle. It stabbed into a wood near the pillows. Nelson saw a paper onto the pillow. He opened it up.

I'LL RETURN THE FOOD TO THE VILLAGES YOU RAVAGED. ENJOY SLEEPING IN YOUR GRAVE. -THE SUMMONER.

Nelson scoffed to the note. "Ha! Even if you are the Summoner, you have nothing to use against the Great Lord Nelson!" More blue shurikens flew out, going around Nelson and slashing the room. Nelson covered his face, but when he moved his flubby body, he couldn't find any injuries. "You missed!" The silhouette threw another kunai with another note that latched onto the windowsill. He pulled the note off and read it.

YOU WERE NOT THE TARGET, AT LEAST NOT DIRECTLY. -THE SUMMONER.

Nelson blinked to the note in confusion. "What the hell does that mean?" That's when the floor shifted. Nelson's weight flopped to a side where he rolled over to the other side of the room as the castle began to crumble. "Oh, real cheeky!" The guards that were still conscious tried to escape. Those who were not attacked by the Summoner easily escaped and continued to run. The castle's foundation collapsed from the damages. The castle toppled and crumbled to the ground, a plume of smoke and dust kicking up from the destruction. The silhouette watched before leaping down with a massive bag, three times as big as the person itself. Among the massive debris of splintered wood and bent iron, the castle was far from the same. Pushing some of the debris off of him, Nelson revealed himself still alive. Rather than be relieved that he survived his castle's fall, Nelson seethed in anger. "Okay, Summoner… Once I find out who you are, you'll be in for a damnation!" He roared in anger. At a village some distance away, people with frail bodies in ragged robes tried to keep themselves from starving to death.

"Mama?" a little girl whined. The woman, her body nearly of skin and bones, knelt to the little girl.

"I'm sorry, Nana," she cried. "I wish the Great Lord didn't take our food. We're doing all we can." Nana hugged her mother, wishing not to go so soon.

"We must believe in the Summoner," an elderly man spoke. "We cannot give in and surrender." A man half of the elderly man's age and physique started to lose hope.

"What point is there!?" he argued. "It's Great Lord Nelson! None of us have a chance-" He stopped when something flew up with a huge bag. It's the silhouette from back at the castle as he landed on a hut. It dropped the bags, one with food nearly falling out and the other being gold.

"The Summoner!" the mother gasped. Seeing the food, the man turned to the elder.

"That is the last time I doubt your wisdom," he apologized.

"Think not of your judgment," the elder excused. "Just be glad we can eat again!" The people cheered as the Summoner leaped clear of the village.

"Summoner, wait!" cried Nana. The Summoner stopped and turned. "Are you going?" The Summoner nodded. "Why not stay and enjoy the food?" Rather than answer, the Summoner left into the night. "Don't go!" Nana collapsed to her knees, but she looked on with a smile. "Summoner, thank you." As the villagers enjoyed their reunited food, the Summoner was far away to where he pulled out something from nowhere. In the shadows were different creatures from big to small.

"Nice work, everyone," he praised, sounding like a boy. "That was much easier than I thought it'd be." The other silhouettes stood silently with a nod. "Nevertheless, we did a great job in restoring the village. No one will go hungry and live in poverty." There was a map that was brought out of a country. X marks littered the map of many places. "Now then, it won't be long now. We're about to reach the royal city of Grand Jipang. The royal family knows of our arrival." Suddenly, the other silhouettes vanished. The horns grown again allowed the Summoner to move on. That's when the Summoner leaped up where he appeared as the silhouette in front of the pale moon. Grand Jipang was his destination. An adventure within the tale of…
