Marinette spread out her picnic blanket and sighed, thinking this was the perfect spot. No, she wasn't having a picnic. She was going to decorate Easter Eggs. The Mayor had asked her especially, and Marinette had happily agreed. Purple and pink flowers swayed in a warm spring breeze. The only thing that would make this even more perfect was….
"Hey, Marinette. What are you doing?" Marinette looked up from her basket. "Adrien! I'm decorating eggs for the Egg Hunt. Would you like to join me?" Adrien smiled, sitting down on the blanket. Marinette reached into her basket, taking out her paints and brushes. "Use any color you like. Oh, and you need to wear these!" she giggled, handing him a pair of bunny ears. "Cool!" Adrien grinned, plopping his new headband on his head. "You didn't actually have to wear it, Adrien. But you do look cute!"
Marinette blushed as she realized what she said, and busied herself with painting. Their hands brushed as they both reached for the jar of black paint. "Sorry," they said at the same time. "Don't worry, I'll start with the red," Adrien said, opening the red jar of paint.
"So, what's your favorite thing about Easter?" Marinette asked, carefully brushing her egg in black. Adrien was thoughtful. "The Easter parade. My mom always wore a new bonnet she designed, and would walk with Father in the parade. Its funny though. One year, Mother designed a hat with flowers and a swarm of bees chased her! You should have seen Mother run!" "She didn't get stuck, did she?" Marinette asked with concern. "Oh, no. To avoid the bees she ran into the Seine!" Adrien laughed.
Marinette smiled. It was rare for Adrien to talk about his mother. "I like the parade too. Did you know Cat and Ladybug are in it this year?" Adrien kept his face neutral. "I did. I also heard Cat's pretty excited." "He should be," Marinette giggled. "He can wave at all his adoring fans!" "Here, I'm done with the red," Adrien handed it to her. "I'm good, but I'll take the green. Wait, are you making a Ladybug egg?" "Yeah, I am. I might even give it to her at the parade if I see her. She's sweet, you know? Hey, is that Cat's paw print?" "Yep. He's my best friend, and I thought it would be fun for him to have his own iconic egg. He'll probably be to busy to notice me though," Marinette sighed. "If I see him, I'll tell him you have a gift for him." "Thanks!"
When they were finished, Adrien helped with clean up. "That was fun, Marinette. Maybe I'll see you at the parade?" "Okay," she answered shyly. "Great! Its a date!"
When the heroes were given their eggs, they thought they looked familiar, but what they focused on most, is it was a gift from the heart.
