Hey everyone, I'm back with another chapter to this story! So, first…I appreciate all your inputs regarding what I should do in the finale of HTTYD 1, thank you for the suggestions. I hope that my take on the finale is okay, as it will bear similarities with the movies but will ultimately be different in other ways. Anyways, this is going to be a LONG chapter; I hope you all enjoy this next addition!

Chapter 8: The Battle of Dragon Island

The Queen can sense their presence: three groups were converging upon her island: a boy and the traitor Night Fury, the foolish Viking tribe as well as another group yet unknown to her.

She opens her eyes and growls, her orbs glowing furiously from the disturbance. She had enough of this Night Fury…now was the time to act. She knew right then and there…a battle would soon descend upon Dragon Island…and one of them would not be leaving unscathed.

The first to arrive was the infamous duo: Hiccup and the rogue Night Fury, Toothless. Hovering just above the scorched sandy beach, Hiccup surveys the landscape…looking for a way in. The teen and the beast he's on can hear buzzing, like a swarm of bees, polluting the noise around them. The sound is so piercing that even Hiccup can swear it's trying to tear into his human mind as well. Toothless, on the other hand, resists unlike before, most likely because the Queen may have a hard time trying to control him right now. The Fury can sense the others in the volcano: all of them preparing to flee their island. Hiccup hopped off his new best friend, landing on the beach, surveying the barren landscape again for more clues. Just as he does: fear and uncertainty overtake the young boy, for the strange noises stop as soon as his human feet landed on the charred sand. It's as if the whole island itself has responded to him in earnest.

"Ah…Toothless?" He looked to his dragon, who gave an encouraging grunt back. Then suddenly, however, Tooth's left ear flicks back before he looks toward that direction quickly.

"What's wrong, bud?"

Soon enough, Hiccup hears it too…the voice of his father echoing faintly in the distance. It's very faint, but it's not that far away.

Dad…oh no…why did you have to come here of all places!?

Haddock knows though the mess his fellow Viking warriors are about to place themselves in…he must warn them no matter what happens!

"Come on, we've got to get them out of here!" Reluctantly, the duo takes off and a minute later finds a small group of Viking longships heading aimlessly through the fog. It's apparent that they are lost…imagine if they really HAD captured Toothless what could have happened here today? They probably would have used the Night Fury to find the nest…though that kind of seems unlikely.

The sound of the Vikings gets louder as they approach: surrounding them all are giant rocky pillars, and just farther up ahead unknown to them are the remains of Viking ships lost and destroyed ages ago. Just below the duo Hiccup spots his father, sticking out like a sore thumb among his men. The latter looks up, hearing the winged beats of Toothless and gives a startled gasp before the others are alerted.

Well…might as well try again, Hiccup thought.

"Hiccup!" Again, Stoick the Vast couldn't believe his eyes…his son, a Viking, is riding the dreaded, deadly and legendary, Night Fury!

"Dad…please…you have to listen!"

"I should have known…you've thrown your lot in with them!" His father boomed as his followers look on with fear and pity.

"Just listen! This Queen…she's nothing like you've ever faced! She controls the dragons…they have to do what she says, or they'll be killed!"

Stoic, unfortunately, seems undeterred by this. Even though Astrid told him the same exact thing…he refused to believe that any dragon could be seen as anything but evil creatures destined to be slain by Vikings. Some of the warriors have their weapons drawn, but the Chieftain stops them from doing anything to harm his only son…believing somehow, he still can be saved. Despite this show of mercy, the Chief was still enraged by Hiccup's betrayal.

"Hiccup…all those tricks in the ring…"

"Dad…please…" Haddock gives one last desperate face.

Unbeknownst to all the humans, Toothless senses a presence that rivals his own and his pupils slit as he looks away frantically.

"You…lied to us…to me!"

"I screwed up, okay. It was wrong not to tell you, be mad at me, take your anger out on me, but you've got to listen. Please, get everyone out of here, now!"

Stoick growls softly, shaking his head to his son above, "where is the island…Hiccup…take us to it…"

Hiccup gives a look of despair, utterly distraught, "will you just listen to me FOR ONCE!?"

"Men, bring that dragon to me-" the Chief of Berk suddenly ordered.

"Dad, no!"

"You're not my son…"

As soon as the man muttered this, Hiccup felt destroyed by what Stoick the Vast had said, but before the Viking army can attempt to make a move on the Night Fury and the boy…they hear it.

It's a sound the humans and dragon know all too well…a piercing banshee cry that always drives the Vikings into panic…even now. The screech is a sign of a Night Fury's most powerful, and dreaded, attack! It's a dive run!

Hiccup himself is confused, knowing that the only Fury he knows can perform the rite is Toothless. The latter's eyes widened upon hearing the cry and he couldn't believe it! The pitch is much higher than any adult Fury…it can't be…it can't be!

"Night Fury!"

"Get down!" Stoick yelled to his soldiers as Tooth dodges the incoming projectile flawlessly. Vikings on one boat managed to jump off before the blast destroyed their vessel completely!

The mysterious Fury passed by in the blink of an eye, but the scent and voice has been known to Toothless by now: it's none other than Flint! He can't help but have a look of complete shock at what he's seeing. The hatchling is performing maneuvers like an older Night Fury and with almost perfect form!

Haddock shouts down to his father as the fire from the wreckage drew his attention, "dad, get them out of here! We'll stop them!" The boy ordered. Stoick had to act, or people would start dying. Despite everything going on with his son, he soon orders his men to take their places around their ships, deciding instead to take a more defensive position. Hiccup realized who it was making the dive bombs by now, especially when the second bomb came flying past him!

The teen Viking wondered, what is WildWing doing!?

That's when a thought crossed his mind: the baby Night Fury must be under the control of the Queen…something had to be done or this will get worse!

"Toothless, let's go!" He exclaimed. As much as Toothless hated to admit it, Flint had to be stopped.

By the third wave, Flint/WildWing was directly in their path as he screeched loudly, coming in with incredible speed!

"Use one of yours, bud!"

Tooth nodded, turning to meet the approaching dragon head-on. His chest tightened before letting out a hot blast. Both Flint and the teen Fury's blasts meet in the middle, creating an explosion in mid-air. A shockwave soon rocks everything nearby, including the spectators on the ships…blown away by what they are seeing.

The baby fury passes by for yet another attempt as the duo goes on the offensive: finally giving chase. Toothless is much faster than Flint, and it didn't take long for the dragon to end up right behind the hatchling's rear. The chase takes the three through the rocky pillars and dense fog…ultimately higher into the sky. Callahan changes directions suddenly, startling Toothless a bit: he watched as the younger Night Fury began diving down for the boats again for another bombing run. The teen dragon squinted his eyes in frustration: this was his moment…his moment to stop Flint right here and right now!

Hiccup changed the brown fin's position before they swooped down, gaining even faster speed than WildWing. Despite this, the baby locks on Stoick's ship, charging another fireball. Thankfully, before he can release the plasma blast intended to kill the Viking Chief, Toothless shows up and swiftly grabs a hold of the smaller Fury! The action results in the redirection of the attack toward a pillar.

Unfortunately, the rock fragments come crashing down toward Stoick's boat as Hiccup screams in utter horror, "dad!"

Suddenly, before it can crush all the Vikings on the vessel, several blurred figures swoop in and grab the leader and the rest of his crew. They are saved from death, as it turns out, from several dragons that came in from the sky! Hiccup's despair turns to relief and then confusion and finally joy once he spots the human teenagers on the back of said dragons!

There are the twins: Ruffnut and Tuffnut: both riding a Hideous Zippleback, a dragon with two heads. Then, there's Fishlegs who's riding a female Gronckle, and Snotlout: the latter is on a Monstrous Nightmare! Finally, there's Astrid: who's directing the group on a female Deadly Nadder.

As the Vikings are dropped off on a nearby boat, the new dragon riders join Hiccup and his dragon's side for the first time. Stoick, having recovered, is beyond confused, but inside he is grateful that his crew were saved from certain death.

"Glad to see you all here!" Hiccup cried in excitement. Even though the teens had once ridiculed him, they were now helping him in his darkest hour: all are ready for what's ahead.

"Following you, Hiccup" Astrid said before the Nadder below her added a squawk of approval.

Still being held by Toothless, Flint/WildWing thrashed about: squirming like a wild animal caught, his pupils sharp as a cat.

"Come on Flint…snap out of it!" The adolescent Fury begged.

Hiccup decided to take WildWing to the shore, away from the other Vikings. Once on the ground, everyone looks at one another before eyeing the baby Night Fury. Both dragons and humans surprised to see another Fury.

"Whoa…there really is another Night Fury!"

"Cool!"

The twins added before Astrid stopped them, figuring the duo needed to concentrate for what's next.

Hiccup got off his friend to approach the feral baby, who is still being held forcefully in the teen Fury's arms.

"Shh! It's okay…it's okay…" Haddock muttered softly and kindly, stretching out his hand as the hatchling continues squirming around in a vain attempt to break free…still under the control of the Queen.

"Come on, little bud"

Toothless looks down, also trying his best to bring back Flint, his fellow Night Fury. Hiccup's hand is about to touch the wild dragon as everyone watched in awe, "it's okay WildWing, we're here for you."

Once his hand touched their small muzzle, Hiccup could feel a connection with the beast, and he shared his relaxed nature with the being. Finally, their slit eyes relaxed, turning square again…becoming docile. Relief overcame the group…glad to see the fighting had stopped. Toothless dropped the baby softly on the ground as they started to slowly recover from the trance.

"W-what happened?" I grabbed my head with a free paw, shaking myself awake.

"A-are you okay, Flint?" I heard somebody behind me ask, lowering their head to meet my gaze. I suddenly realized who it is…Toothless! With my lime-green dragon eyes I can see some Viking ships on fire not too far away from inside the fog.

I-I can remember the last words whispered into my ear before I lost myself:

You WILL protect your Queen…

She did…take control of me…just like all the others…

"D-did I…do that…" I shake, lowering my head in shame. I backed away slowly from the others, but they moved closer, especially the teen Night Fury.

"It's alright, little bud, no one was hurt." Hiccup said, sensing my regrets.

"That wasn't YOU who did that, Flint" Tooth added. He gave a look of determination, moving his head up towards the volcano, "the Queen must be stopped."

I replay his words in my head, and I soon decide to act…stomping the floor with a paw, "no…no!" Toothless backs away a bit, a little surprised by my action, "there has to be a way to reason with her…she…taught me how to defend myself."

The Fury's eyes turned slit for a moment as he snorted back, "she did that to turn you into her weapon, like she did with me!" He retorted quite coldly, but I couldn't help but agree a bit with his statement. He WAS right about her…but…

"She understands how I feel…what I'm…going through" I mutter silently under my breath.

"Flint…she's manipulating you" The teen Fury barked back.

Hiccup and the other humans, and their dragons, suddenly felt the earth shake as we do too; however, I carry on my tirade, "there has to be another way to resolve this!"

"She. Is. Evil! There is NO reasoning with her!"

"W-what is that?" Snotlout exclaims, looking around as the tremors worsen.

Suddenly, from openings above us we can see swarms of dragons leaving the nest…all of them…

Toothless looks up, his ears flattening upon knowing what is coming, oh no…he thought.

"Something's coming!" Astrid yelled, getting on her Nadder.

"Something big!" Fishlegs added, already on the Gronckle.

The tremors turn into a full fledge earthquake as the side of the volcano facing us begins to collapse.

"G-get out of the way!" Hiccup shouts, directing everyone farther away from the rocky avalanche. Our group follows behind him. I can already sense some rocks falling just a few meters away from me. Toothless looks back to see me lagging a bit and he turns around, grabbing me with an arm. He spreads his wings, using a short burst to get to Hiccup. The boy looks and manages to hop on the dragon's back before he takes off.

We can hear her roars, her angered cries as the Queen emerges from her domain in a fit of rage! The dragon riders and I witness the awesome beast free itself from the confines of the caldera. Stoick and the other adult Berkians are close enough to spot the behemoth crashing through. Suddenly, he took in what his son had warned him about the entire time…Hiccup was right…and they weren't prepared for the onslaught that would possibly arise from all this.

That's when he understood the bigger threat that laid before his eyes: maybe everything Hiccup said was true…maybe Stoick SHOULD have listened.

"Odin, help us" is all the middle-aged warrior, seasoned from all his years in combat, muttered.

The Queen tried to bite into one of the riders, but much to her instant frustration, she missed just by a hair. In response, she starts gathering gas as a follow-up attack.

"Look out!" Hiccup exclaimed as the colossus breathes fire toward them.

"Scatter!" Astrid yelled on the Nadder in mid-air. That's exactly what we all do, narrowly dodging the stream of fire, avoiding death in the process! The Queen tires from her attack as we circle around her relentlessly.

Hiccup takes this pause as an opportunity to throw instructions to his new team. The boy looks to Fishlegs on the Gronckle, "what are we dealing with, Fishlegs?"

The latter examines their sole opponent and starts listing off its attributes like a video game boss. I'm not even making this up…

"Heavily armored skull and tail made for passion and crushing…steer clear of both! Small eyes, large nostrils…relies on hearing and smell!"

Haddock nods, understanding everything just said to him. Astrid flies next to him and Toothless.

"Alright, 'Legs…Snotlout, hang around its blind spot, make some noise…keep it confused!" He then turns to the twins on the Zippleback above him, "Ruff, Tuff: point out if it has a shot limit, make it mad!"

"Heck yea!" The brother exclaimed excitedly while the sister grins, "that's my specialty!"

"Since when!? Everyone knows I'm more irritating!" He suddenly directs the head of his dragon upside down in an attempt to annoy his sibling. Jeez…where did Hiccup find these two?

The supposed leader, Hiccup, breaks them apart, "just do what I told you. Astrid and I are going to get the others out of here!"

As Haddock said that some of the remaining Viking ships just so happened to start shooting at the Queen from offshore, who up to now had been preoccupied with Snotlout and Fishlegs. She begins directing her attention to the fleet.

Idiots, I cursed in thought...

It's apparent their weapons have no effect on the creature, and she is ready to show the puny humans her true power. With a deep breath she unleashed her stream of inferno at them: causing the Vikings to jump into the water for safety.

"Dang it!" Astrid cursed as Hiccup looks down to Toothless and then to me, who's flying beside them and the Nadder, "come on, we got to get them out of there!" We all nodded as we swoop in to pick up any Viking that had unfortunately ended up in the freezing water, Stoick included.

The blue Deadly Nadder started grabbing a few while Toothless, with his faster speed, picked up groups of them in a small span of time. Both dragons placed the army on some of the wrecked ships that laid scattered throughout the fog-infested island. If this had been a different kind of battle, the Vikings would have reacted by attacking the riders, but they knew they had to work with Hiccup and his gang in order to survive the Queen. Speaking of the monster, the other riders had her occupied thankfully, drawing her away from the wreckage.

Anyhow, I was stronger now as a dragon, but not strong enough to carry a heavy man, so I was forced to carry the lighter ones to safety. While I'm rescuing others beside Astrid, Hiccup spots Stoick by a burning wreck. The human nudges his dragon who begins descending. As they do, they are shocked to see that the burning mast is collapsing, hitting a ruined boat that was trapped between two rocks. The resulting collision causes a cascade of rocks to fall toward Stoic, still in the water. He looks up, dread washing over him. Fortunately, Toothless can make it to him, but does not have time to make it out: he grabs the man by the clothes and throws him out of the way.

"Look out!" Hiccup shouted too late…the rocks hit around them with one rather large one striking the Night Fury! Both human and dragon end up underwater as quickly as it happened, sinking below the surface. A rock had struck his head, rendering the reptile unconscious…Toothless ended up getting stuck beneath large debris as the dust settled. His rider, still awake, swims down to try and free his best friend, but can't: the rocks are too heavy for him!

Stoick, who recovered from being thrown by the Fury, managed to witness everything. He hastily swims over and dives under…joining the boy.

Hiccup exchanged a brief glance with a muted surprise…Stoick the Vast is suddenly helping them! Both start trying to dig the dragon out of the underwater rubble. Working together, both are ultimately able to move the rock and free the creature; however, moving the Night Fury itself proved a harder task than both expected. Running out of time and the beast still unconscious, Stoick grabs the former's muzzle to try and stir them.

Unfortunately, Haddock begins to feel lightheaded just as Toothless finally wakes…realizing what's going on! It's only for a moment, but he focuses his reptilian eyes on the leader of the Vikings. The dragon knows now that Stoick himself had been persuaded by Hiccup's pacifism. Before any could pass out from being underwater for too long, Toothless grabs both and spreads his wings. A few seconds later they emerge, landing on a collapsed boulder nearby. The Night Fury looks on afterward, seeing me struggling alongside the Deadly Nadder and Astrid…deciding himself what must be done.

As the two humans below him recover, the Night Fury gives a grunt in his language to his young rider, "come on, we need to end this."

Haddock doesn't even need to understand his dragon, he nods in response, "right, let's go bud."

Before the young Viking can mount the Fury, the Chieftain grabs a hold of the boy's hand, stopping him momentarily, "I'm sorry…for everything…" he muttered.

"Me too dad…"

Unknown to me at the time: Stoick is his father and Hiccup: his son…

"Hiccup, you don't have to go out there…"

The teen can't help but smirk a little in response, "we're Vikings, Dad…it's an occupational hazard."

In retaliation, the father grabs him again…saying to his only child fondly, "I'm proud to call you, my son." Finally letting the child go, as if that's the only thing he needed to say.

"Thanks dad…" the teen replied. Stoick the Vast admitted he was wrong and now he is about to witness the ground beneath him shake…and his son be carried into the sky where his destiny awaits.

With nothing else to say, Hiccup looks down to Toothless, who nodded back, and they take off: on their way to finish the Dragon-Viking War once and for all!

While all the stuff is going on with Hiccup, Toothless and Stoick, the dragon riders had begun running into problems with the infamous Queen. Fishlegs had been thrown off the Gronckle, Snotlout ended up on the Queen's back, and the twins were distracted by their bickering. We hadn't noticed what was happening with the others since we ourselves were occupied with what was going on over on our side.

Astrid, her dragon and I were busy rescuing the last of the overboard Vikings. Astrid had flown in to pick up Spitelout Jorgenson, who is holding on to a piece of wood leftover from the wreckage. Once she picks him up and sets him down on a rock he gives a brief glare at the girl, but ultimately, he nods back, showing faint gratitude.

Soon enough, our attention is turned toward the other riders and Astrid yells to me, "come on, little guy!" The girl devised a plan to get Snotlout out from the monster's back. She shows up beside the twins as they pass by, "go get Snot out of there you two!"

"Got it" both replied. Through their own mischievous means they picked up the bulkier teen from the beast. Our little trio, meanwhile, were distracting the Queen. As I got close and within her sight, however, she ignored all the others and focused solely on me…

I suddenly felt the same sharp pain in my head as I began to struggle. Hofferson noticed and instructed the Deadly Nadder toward me, "you've got to resist!"

As she said that, however, my pupils were turning narrow, and my mind is being flooded again with instructions.

After all I did to help, you betray me?

Astrid gave a nervous expression, hoping that there wouldn't be another skirmish involving me again, "Come on, little guy, you can do it!"

"Resist her, hatchling!" The Nadder added.

Without me, you will have no one else in this world who understands you…or cares about you. Mr. Callahan, if they kill me, any hope of you returning home will be lost!

"N-no…" I snarled, attempting to break our mental link altogether. Her Venomous eyes pierced into my soul like a blade stabbing through my chest toward my heart…

If you KILL me, Callahan…how will you ever be able to reunite with HER again!?

Her!? No…surely, she doesn't mean…Sophia? I breathed sharply in through my teeth. The Queen looked deep into my mind and found my memories spent with the human girl. I shake my head, trying so hard to break this connection…almost pleading for her to stop. Tears started falling off my short muzzle as I begun to break down in mid-air.

Amidst my struggles, something in me, however…drew me to another memory, and I decide to throw away my misery in search of hope.

There were people who cared about me in this world…there are…they're all around me, even now:

I look back to when I was in the cove with Toothless...even if he didn't know who I truly was he understood me. He cares about me, went out of his way to help me…even on the first hour we met. Hiccup too…Astrid…even the teenagers who follow them now. How can this creature even say such a bold statement? I appreciated their company…they're the reason why I survived and thrived up until now! How can YOU be so sure that I won't find the answers I seek, find a way home? Even if I don't…at least I found people I can depend on like the ones I did back in my world…

Queen…you USED me, like you USED all the other dragons…like how you USED Toothless for years against his wishes! You did all that for your own GAME…you played us all like chess pieces, but now…we got you surrounded…here comes checkmate!

After I shouted this thought at her, I began repelling her advances, irritating her greatly.

Why don't you stop this nonsense, surrender now…for your own sake, I implore you!

After I said this, the Queen can't help but laugh quite hysterically back in retaliation

I-implore me!? You fool, if you will not yield…then you will DIE where you are…you will be my FIRST victim!

Suddenly, she opens her mouth and begins sucking in air all around her, dragging me in! I try to get away, but the suction is too strong! Astrid and the Nadder try and grab a hold of me before I can enter the Queen's jaw. The bird-like dragon grabs me with her sharp talons and then attempts to pull us away but it's no use! The three of us are about to be eaten!

Then, as if the heavens heard our cries, we hear it…the sounds of a screeching Night Fury speeding past the volcano at jet-like speed. Behind us is the teenage Fury and Hiccup: the former unleashes a plasma bolt that impacts the Queen's muzzle, stunning her just enough that we can fly away! The shockwave, however, sends the three of us tumbling away instead. Astrid ends up falling from her dragon toward the ground below! Before she can touch the sand, a black figure swoops past, grabbing her just in the nick of time!

My heart had skipped a beat there, thank goodness she's okay! I focus my eyes on the girl, having been rescued by none other than by the duo.

"Now is our chance, follow me!" The Deadly Nadder hastily chirps to me before I follow closely, moving away from the shell-shocked behemoth.

The girl had been dropped off, soon rejoining the other teens on the ground. The bird dragon lands next to them before I do the same. Before our enemy can try and attack again, Toothless makes another dive run. Our group witnesses soon after the colossus, infuriated by these attacks, spread her wings, taking flight shortly after.

Wait a minute…

"She can fly!?" I exclaimed in total surprise. The other dragons look down at me as I eye them, "w-what? I mean…I guess that makes sense…she IS a dragon after all…"

It's clear she's had enough of us, but her focus was on the duo now…wanting them both dead. I think to myself…I've got to help…I CAN help them…I am a Night Fury after all…and with two Night Furies…this ought to end well for us!

The two heroes narrowly dodge the monster after them, sidestepping their attempts to devour them both. They start to climb into the sky…towards dark clouds above. Before they disappear, Tooth and Hicc barely move out of the path of a blazing fireball.

I can't take it anymore; I prepare to take off. The Nadder next to me tries to stop me, "where are you going!?"

"Up there" I deadpanned.

"You shouldn't, you're but a hatchling!"

"Try and stop me then" I retorted before I lift off the ground. She doesn't follow, instead marveling at my speed, figuring that the strength of two Furies might be enough to stop the Queen. I use the updraft to gain altitude quickly and it isn't long that I catch up to the three. All around me the air thickens, and I find myself cloaked within the darkness. I can smell and hear the Queen: she's not too far away, and I can sense Toothless about to make a pass. Right as I run into the dragoness, I swerved out of the way since the moment I do she is blasted by a ball of fire. I hear the other Fury pass by, still hidden by the clouds.

"I see what they're doing…" I give a light smug before choosing to follow them. It isn't long before they notice my presence.

"F-Flint!?" Toothless, mouth gaped, shouted, "what are you doing here!?"

"Helping." I retorted.

Hiccup is also copying his dragon's expression, "WildWing!? W-" before he can tell me to leave, an idea crosses his mind…after all like I said: two Night Furies are better than one!

"Okay" Toothless began, deciding to drop it, figuring he'll need the help, "we'll take the opposite side, just use those dive bombs you've been doing: make her hurt!"

"Got it!" I bellowed.

I darted ahead of him. Tooth is first to strike, speeding past the Queen, one of his blasts hits her wing. I come in right after on the other side, making contact with her shoulder! Soon enough, it's just me and the other two making back-to-back assaults on the disgruntled Queen. The Vikings and dragons below can see the rapid glows from within the dark clouds above them.

The beast has had enough of our harassments and shoots a ball of fire at me as I pass by. Before I can get engulfed by them, I see Toothless swoop in to grab me, using his wings to come to a sudden halt to avoid the fire stream. Unfortunately, some of the flames had ignited his brown tail prosthetic!

"Look out!" We heard Hiccup before Toothless throws me out of the way, flying out to safety while the beast releases an angry stream of flames all around…all the while sinking toward the ground…losing altitude by the second!

My heart sinks upon realizing what had just happened to the teen Fury, but I had no time to dwell on it…she's gone berserk…well…more berserk than usual anyway! She tried another shot at me, but I take cover in the clouds in retaliation.

Callahan! You coward! Show yourself!

Meeting up with the others I bark at them, pointing a paw at the burning fin. They look back and realize that soon…they'll be grounded. We've got to finish this battle now, or else…

"Looks like time's up!" Hiccup exclaimed back. I narrow my green eyes, pulling away as the two look back:

"Flint!?"

"WildWing!"

I turn around and head for the Queen...alone. I've tried reasoning with her, but she's not having any of it…so I'm not holding back. This is it…I'm ending this NOW!

I begin gathering gas for my bombing run, soon making the signature Night Fury screech. As pressure builds up in my chest, I shout at the top of my lungs at her, "TAKE THIS!"

I ended up striking her set of eyes on the left side, which ends up permanently blinding her on that side! Before I can get away, I can feel a massive weight strike my body, as if the Queen had just swatted at me blindly in retaliation.

The sheer force stuns me: sending me hurtling down toward the beach! The Deadly Nadder spots me falling fast before the girl turns to the bird-dragon, "hurry, grab them!"

The female dragon, without a moment's hesitation, flies off toward me. Before I could become a 2-meter crater on the beach, the Nadder snatches me mid-air, sparing me of such a fate. I'm barely conscious, but I use whatever strength I have left to look up and see who my savior was. She drops me beside Astrid, who checks on me, noticing the fresh scar on my chest.

Hiccup and Toothless were running out of time, now only mere seconds were on their side to finish the battle in their favor. The Queen of Dragons, now blind on one side, chased both, giving them no time to worry about Flint/WildWing.

As Tooth's fin slowly disintegrates, Hiccup decides to lead their foe downward…toward the volcano. They had no time to do what they had discussed earlier that day: to shoot a plasma ball in the Queen's mouth…instead, perhaps they would try another option now presented to them. They'll do whatever it takes to end this quickly.

"Just a little longer bud!" Hiccup exclaimed. Just as they approached ground level, they hear the Queen growl. Toothless heard what she had to say in their language:

"This is the end for you and Callahan!"

Suddenly, the moment she mentioned the baby dragon, a flash of images played deep in Tooth's mind…images of a world unfamiliar to him…but he quickly fought it off, especially when he heard Hiccup's voice. The Queen is about to pay the ultimate price for mentioning the baby Night Fury to him…

"Now, Toothless!"

That was the SIGNAL! The Night Fury turns around and shot a fire-blast toward the Queen's other set of eyes, just as she's gathering gas to incinerate them. She yells in agony, now completely blind on all her eyes. The large beast squirms all over the place, all the while roaring in pain: not realizing that once the three passed the last layer of clouds they were destined to hit the volcano! Toothless spreads his wings to get out of there with Hiccup…just as the Queen of Dragons finally crashes into the Volcano. The resulting collision causes the side to collapse on her, silencing her cries.

Though barely awake I manage to see this happen and I catch sight of Toothless and Hiccup struggling to escape the falling rocks above. They almost make it out, but the last of the artificial brown fin burns away. Now, they're at the mercy of gravity. One rather large boulder falls toward them as Hiccup screams for his friend, "look out!" The dragon couldn't get out of the way in time and is consequently struck.

Quickly recovering, the Fury looks down to see the now unconscious boy falling towards the ground below.

"Hiccup!" He shouted in despair, using all the strength in his wings to go after the human. He tries his best to avoid the falling rocks around him, beating his large wings harder in order to save his best friend. He is about to reach him, but it's the last thing I see before I pass out.

Everything went silent, dead silent.

The dust settled and the Vikings on the ground and other areas eventually gathered at the impact sight…where Toothless had ended up. Stoick had some difficulty making it there, but when he did, he is shocked to see that only the Night Fury was there between the rubble. The others stopped as only the Chieftain moved forward. His yells had woken me from my state, but I could barely keep my eyes open…

"Hiccup…"

Toothless was shocked, possibly from the impact, but nevertheless alive. He is wheezing, however, his body wracked with pain. Stoick assumed the worst and got down on his knees…

The Fury had just begun to stir, looking up weakly at the human leader as the latter softly apologized on behalf of everyone…but mostly for the dragon and his son.

Well…he did apologize…again, Toothless muttered softly, still weak. He moved his wings to reveal Hiccup in his arms.

"Hiccup!" The Chief grabbed the boy and wept happily in relief, "he's alive! You brought him back alive!" Everyone cheered.

Stoick placed a hand on the dragon, the first time he does so with any dragon without the intent to kill them. He had changed, just as everyone around him has, "Thank you…for saving my son…"

Gobber moved forward, leaned next to the man, "well you know…most of 'em."

I looked on, Astrid holding me in her arms. I give a tired but thankful smile…before I finally pass out from the battle…this time for an entire day…

Phew! That was an awesome page to write! I had taken a lot of your suggestions into consideration, and I decided that I would keep some of the core elements of the battle in the story, all the while incorporating some new ideas. Instead of the Queen blowing up, she's now trapped in rubble, blind and alone. Hiccup still lost his leg, but everything resolves more or less the same way it does in the movie.

Let me know what you all think of how I took this battle: I would really love to see what you all think. Thanks, and I'll see you all next time, peace!
