Hello babes! Back with another fic for DoctorRose Bingo. This one's prompt was: sunrise. A sweet story to make up for the heartbreaking one I previously posted.

Enjoy!

The first time they share a sunrise, it's on an alien planet that she can't exactly remember the name of.

All she really remembers is that it had been after a rather grueling adventure where she'd gotten a few bumps and bruises that were easily remedied by the sonic and then aided by the infirmary onboard the TARDIS. The Doctor had taken her to a planet that he'd apparently had in mind for a while but wasn't exactly sure when to go.

They'd arrived in the middle of the night, right on top of the tallest hill, and waited. It was only minutes before the sun started to rise, she's sure of it. Because she's fairly certain The Doctor had boasted about how impeccable his driving was, which she'd, of course, quipped back about getting her home a year late. Some might have thought it would have been too soon to joke about, given it had just happened, but she knew he wouldn't take it personally. Well, she'd hoped.

She can't quite remember what was said after that, she thinks they might have had a small conversation while waiting, just some idle chit-chat to pass the time. She just can't remember all the finer details. She remembers how she felt, though.

She felt safe; she usually did with The Doctor, even her first leather jacket clad Doctor when they were in the middle of dangerous situations.

But especially standing on that hilltop awaiting a sunrise that apparently she just had to see.

She's seen her fair share of sunrises and sunsets over the years, either from staying up all night with Shareen when she was very young or staying out late at parties in her teen years. But nothing quite compared to that sunrise on that alien planet.

Even if she can't remember the conversation they shared, or the minor details about what might have happened before or after they watched the sunrise, she'll always remember how she felt during it. The memory of feelings always stays long after the details fade away.

She'd been surprised, naturally, by the colors that resonated as the sun began to rise in the sky; they were nothing like she'd ever seen before. The sun had moved slowly above the horizon, like most suns do, until it sat perfectly in the sky to let the citizens of the town below know that the day had already begun.

Rose had been completely mesmerized by the magnificent colors reflecting off the ocean water in the distance, the way they shined and danced against the waves, nearly sparkling. They had created a perfect backdrop to the early morning hours.

One of the few things she does remember is the way she'd clung to The Doctor's leather-clad arm the entire time they watched the sunrise. She'd felt so safe and at peace with him in that moment, the bright glow of the sun keeping them warm even at their distance. She'd loved every moment of it. And still does, even if the finer details grow hazier over time.

The first time they share a sunrise in Pete's World, she knows she'll never forget a moment of it.

Their arms are wrapped securely around each other, holding each other close simply because they want to, and also to fight back against the chilly ocean breeze that surrounds them. They've been on the parallel earth for several months now, but finally have a moment to relax and simply…be.

Before this moment, it was a lot of paperwork and debriefs, and figuring out exactly how they fit now. Because everything is different now.

For one, they communicate their feelings much better now, no more dancing around unasked questions or subtly hinting at how they each truly feel. They're open and honest, though it took some time to get there. They'd had to really work at it.

For two, their forever is limited to one human lifetime. Well, she supposes that hers always was, even back when she'd promised the fully Time Lord Doctor that she'd stay with him forever. She knew their forevers wouldn't match up. Now they will. So long as nothing goes horribly wrong.

But so far nothing has. Thankfully. And she prays it stays that way.

"You know, I think this might just be the most beautiful sunrise we've seen to date."

Rose shifts her focus to the man next to her, taking in his side profile and admiring the way his eyes reflect the light of the sunrise coming off the water. "I think you might be right."

He turns his head and smiles at her. "You sure you're not just agreeing with me because of this?" he asks with a slight tease to his voice, lifting her left hand to remind her of the new piece of jewelry she's now sporting.

She flashes him her usual tongue-in-cheek smile. "Well, it's certainly a perk."

His smile widens and he presses a kiss to her knuckles, right above the engagement ring. "I completely agree." He sighs heavily. "Though, we should probably tell your mother sooner rather than later. I can feel my phone buzzing in my pocket already, probably asking for updates."

Rose laughs quietly. "Still can't believe you asked her for her permission."

The Doctor opens and closes his mouth a few times, gearing up to protest. He raises his other hand and shifts on his feet. "Now, I didn't ask her permission, per se. We all know you'd do what you wanted to regardless of what she or Pete said. I merely gave her a heads-up that I would be proposing to you when I brought you out here for the weekend."

Rose nods slowly. "Uh-huh." She smiles and shifts closer to him, wrapping her arm around his neck to pull him down to her. "Well, either way, I think it's very sweet." She presses her lips to his for a slow kiss and then pulls back, laughing quietly when her fiancé groans.

"Rose…" he whines.

She simply smiles and then shifts her arms to wrap around him in a hug again, turning the both of them so they're facing the horizon once more. "Just hold me," she says quietly, her voice slightly muffled by the fabric of his jacket. "Let's just be here, in this moment, yeah? Let's just watch the sunrise."

His lips press to the top of her head and he pulls her a little closer. "Alright."

Letting out a breath of contentment, Rose snuggles even closer to her love and focuses her gaze on the horizon line. The colors all bleed into one another as the sun moves higher, the bright light reflecting off the ripples in the water. It's gorgeous. Beyond gorgeous, even.

The Doctor had said he wanted the proposal to be memorable, and it absolutely was. And she knows she's never going to forget a single, tiny detail of it, even as she grows older. Because having the love of her life ask her to marry him in the same spot where they first committed themselves to one another was so much more than perfect.
