Data feeds were coming in constantly from the satellites under the resistance control feeding them information on infected lurking in their territory or close by as well as what Umbrella might be up to around the world. From what Jill can see there is a large amount of infected gathering heading towards the Eastern wall. Leon was set up in charge of that for today and he and his people should have no problem dealing with the threat. From the looks of it, it's just normal infected bioweapons.
Jill's eyes are drawn away from the data to Becky who is preoccupied with reading one of the assigned books from her English class and writing a small report on it. Just because the world ended doesn't mean they still can't teach the younger generations normally. It gives them something else to think about other then the hordes of flesh-eating undead attempting to breach their walls.
Alice and Ada are currently out on a scouting mission. Alice took Ada to go through the Treasury Department for anything they could use. Given the fact that Alice used to work there and knows the area, Wesker had her leading the mission. Their job is to secure the building, find any resources and search the surrounding area for anything useful.
That leaves her in charge of looking after Becky for the day. Going back to the numerous sources of information an update on a new type of bioweapon called Uroboros takes her focus. Nothing Umbrella develops ends up being a good thing for them.
Well… Everything but Alice… and Becky.
Still kind of weird to think Becky is a clone. Cloning alone was a shocking discovery to have while under Umbrella control. To know they were taking Alice's DNA and creating children from it just to see how Alice would react in different situations was far beyond monstrous. She dreads to think how many of Alice's kids were butchered in that facility.
Thank God Leon blew that place up and they all managed to get Becky out. A clone or not Becky is her own person and deserves a normal childhood. Not this fucked up mess.
Jill was so lost in reading about the Uroboros that she misses how Becky has stopped reading and is instead watching her very closely. As if analysing something. She's seen the look on Alice's face enough times to recognise it in her daughter. It's the slight scrunching of the brow and tilt of the head which gives away when Alice and Becky are trying really hard to figure something out. Jill told Alice the look makes her look like a cute confused puppy.
Becky seeming unable to come to a conclusion on what it was that had her thinking so hard hesitantly stands up and slowly approaches Jill's desk. Nervously she taps on the wooden desk to gain the blonde haired woman's attention. "Ji.. Jill."
Jill stops what she's doing turning to the child whose gaze keeps dropping from her to the floor and back. Seeing Becky so nervous and unsure in front of her makes Jill worry something has happened and she missed it. "Yes. Is everything ok Becky."
Becky shifts in place before finding her voice again. "I just wanted to ask a question." Her voice is timid and so unlike the Becky, she has come to know when it's just the two of them. Around new people, Becky can be shy, but Jill thought Becky was comfortable with her. So, what's brought all this on.
At the question, Jill blinks and nods. "Of course, you can Becky. You know you can ask me anything."
Becky looks at her with an uncertain but curious gaze. "So umm, is my mom happy… With you I mean." The seven year old adds on at the end to clarify what type of question she is asking. And oh boy was she not prepared to answer a question like that.
Taken aback Jill leans back in her chair thinking over her answer. Becky has only recently discovered she and Alice were together romantically. At first, it was because she and Alice were just testing the waters in their relationship. The transformation of their relationship from friendship to romantic was something they has both thought about doing back before the world ended but their own fears and insecurities stopped them from crossing that line. No matter how tempting it was.
After Umbrella Prime those feelings were still there. Both the good and bad. But this time they decided to risk it. When the world has ended, and every day is a precious gift not afforded to many they give into their feelings. Grasping for what slivers of happiness they could.
Alice had told her about Becky's origins. How she was the daughter of Alice's clone and Carlos's And Jill knows that Becky lost both her parents that day. She gained Alice but lost her mother. Alice has been trying to fill that role and Jill has been helping however she can. They didn't want to tell Becky right away to not make it seem like she and Alice were trying to replace who Carlos was to her.
For Jill, she can say yes to Becky's question. Even with all the horror in the world, she has a certain kind of peace and comfort having Alice near. And she hopes that Alice feels the same as her. That even with all the misery surrounding them Jill brings her kind of contentment. "Well, I think that is a question you need to ask her, I would like to think so but she truly knows the answer to that one. Why do you ask."
Did Alice say something about their relationship that unsettled Becky. Did Jill do something, and she isn't even aware of it.
Becky gives Jill a sad look. "Mommy fights the monsters. She protects everyone. But she gets hurt. I don't like seeing her sad or in pain." Jill smiles softly towards Becky whose voice wavers as she talks.
"I don't like seeing your mom in pain either," Jill admits quietly. She never enjoyed it because it always meant something bad had really happened. Now it just reminds her that she was a source of pain to Alice. Yes, she might have been under Umbrella control, but she still hurt Alice.
"Please keep my mom's heart safe," Becky states suddenly looking Jill directly in the eyes. "Please don't hurt her." The quiet plea tugs on Jill's heartstrings.
"I promise I won't hurt her," Jill swears to the young girl. A promise she has all the intentions of keeping until her dying breath.
Becky nods to herself as if agreeing with her promise and filing it away for later. Her worry over her mother having a broken heart is seemingly solved. "Jill."
"Yes." The blonde replies not sure she wants to answer another question like that.
So naturally that's exactly what Becky asks her. "Are you happy with my mom?"
At this Jill's eyes grew wide, and she felt a blush coming. Being interrogated about her and Alice's relationship was not how she saw her day going. Even so, Jill answers as honestly as she can. "Y-yes," She cringes over her own stutter. He coughs trying to regain some control of herself. "I am very happy with you mom. And I am very happy with you in my life. The two of you mean everything to me."
The girl just smiles at her answer moving forward to hug her. "I'm very happy you and mom are in my life as well," Becky admits as Jill wraps her own arms around her.
