Hey everyone! I hope you're having a great week so far!
Review by Vognar-The Legendkeep: AM still rather confused on how big Flint really is. I was thinking dog sized but with how he can carry someone he would have to be bigger then right?
RE: Great question! So, actually, this was answered in an earlier chapter when I explained that in "School of Dragons" the babies belonging to Toothless and the Light Fury can carry humans on their back in flight (though only teens). I assumed Flint, given his bigger size compared to newborns…would be able to have people ride on his back: especially now since he's bigger than he was in Snoggletog and ESPECIALLY since waking up in the cove in HTTYD1. So yes, I would guess he's dog-sized by this point but he's big and strong enough to have a small human like a teen riding him.
I hope that answers everything!
A note: this will be an Alternate History of "Heather Report Part II" of Season 2 of 'Riders of Berk' in which Berk still has the Book of Dragons, but Heather is on Outcast Island instead of being under custody of the Vikings.
This should be an interesting read; I hope you all enjoy it!

Chapter 24: Heather, Part 2
And here I thought being the Queen's prisoner, months ago, was bad…I had NO idea that being on Outcast Island would be worse…A LOT worse…I already knew these guys were no good: having faced them on Berk not too long ago. To be on their territory and realizing that soon after ending up here sent me into endless despair. I wasn't prepared for what would happen to me and Toothless later on in the day…
Just to recap: the Dragon Riders chased "Heather" and Stormfly to the island: Astrid was able to stop the girl. Hiccup, meanwhile, retrieved the Book of Dragons without it falling into the wrong hands. Unfortunately, due to my ignorance, I ended up on the island with the black-haired girl.
I won't lie, now looking back on things: I shouldn't have done what I did…I let my feelings for Sophia endanger everybody.
She tried stealing the book of dragons…that much was clear to me now…but why…and why was she heading for this place…could it have been true what Astrid has said…this girl worked for these men…
Regret had stabbed me in the chest by this point in time: I felt so bad for hurting Hookfang…and hurting Toothless…why did I have to go and do all that!?
I'm so STUPID! Now, I'm locked in a web-like cage underground…surrounded by cold rock. Dry blood stains the ground underneath me, and the scent of death lingers in the air all around me. I've tried to escape, but I am chained to the wall and the bars are too strong for me to break out of without my dragon breath…even if I could, my snout is tied to a muzzle anyway…
My ears and wings droop as I slump against the gray concrete wall. Across from me, in another cell, is the mysterious girl…we can see each other perfectly under the lantern above us. "Heather" is desperate to get out, frantically pulling at the web bars with no success in sight. It's not long before she's encumbered, and we soon hear sinister voices laughing in the distance, coming to us. Some of Alvin's men are taunting her. If I had the will to, I would be at least growling at them right about now…
Suddenly, a tall and imposing man comes into my view…it's that Outcast member…Savage. All he does is give a light devilish smile down to me…sending shivers down my black scales. He turns and walks to the girl in her cage, "things don't look good for you two" he snickered coldly.
"Please…I can still get the book…if you just-"
"Alvin's given you enough chances…" he interrupted.
"Please…" she begged, voice cracking, "let my parents go…I'll stay…do what you want with me but leave them be!"
Savage couldn't help himself: he snorted back at this, walking away…leaving the two of us alone again.
I glance over at the mysterious female, inside me I felt extreme hatred for myself…Astrid was right all this time…Toothless was right…and I should have listened to them…
But if this Heather was working with the Outcasts…why do they have her locked up: parents? About that…m-maybe they were used as leverage…oh gosh…was she FORCED to do all this!?
As I am distracted by my thoughts, the girl in the other cell groans frustratingly, "there must be something we can do…" she said desperately.
One of my stubby ears flicks up at this and I slowly look up at her in response. For some reason, she can tell my eyes are projecting sadness from her betrayal and they sigh softly in return.
"I…I'm sorry…I know you put a lot of trust in me, Hiccup too…but they have my parents…what else could I have done?" She whined softly, almost to herself, "I feel as though you can understand me…you must!"
For some reason, my muzzled face softens, and I walk up to the bars of my cell to stare into her sad light green eyes.
"I can't explain it…but…I feel as though you know me…but we've never met…maybe I'm just overthinking it" she sighed.
No…you're not…at least not like this…
She inched closer to her own set of bars and lowers her head to be able to see me more, "why were you so drawn to me, WildWing? Do I remind you of someone?"
That's when my ears and side frills perk up and I nodded madly to her. She raises an eyebrow at this, "I kind of wish you could tell me…wait a minute…you can! You can write!" Suddenly, however, she slumps down toward the floor upon realizing something, "but you can't really write-write…there's nothing for you to use…"
About a minute later, we hear footsteps, and a certain adult came into view for both of us. My heart raced before I stood up from my curled state in a panic. My ears pull back as my eyes widened. I couldn't do much of anything since I'm muzzled like a dog! Across from us is the infamous Alvin the Treacherous: the fiend grins evilly at me…cracking his knuckles as he does so.
It isn't long before I am taken out of the cell and into the middle of the cave-room. I am held down against my will with my snout against the dirt ground. I suddenly hear a sword unsheathe along with the cry of anguish from the girl within her cell.
Not a moment later I see the blade with a side-eye…destined to strike my neck…my eyes widened as I helplessly whined…
No! …this can't be how it ends…please, don't!
…
Meanwhile, on Berk, Hiccup had gathered the Dragon Riders to the Arena to formulate a plan to save WildWing/Flint from Alvin and his men.
Unfortunately, it's easier said than done. One, the teens and their dragons would be up against an army of blood-thirsty warriors patrolling the island from one side to another. Plus, the team was still having trouble being coordinated (even this long since they first battled together in the skies.)
Toothless the Night Fury was especially restless, finding himself pacing back and forth, today's events are replaying in his head. He had broken his promise to Flint that he made after they settled in Berk: I was sulking on the steps leading to the Great Hall (with Astrid and the dragon behind me).
I promise you this: I WON'T let ANYONE hurt you or take you away EVER again.
Snotlout brought his fists together as a show to the others, "Why don't we just go in there and show those Outcasts who's boss?" He suggested, taking Toothless out of his flashback.
Hiccup shook his head at the buff teen, reminding him of the danger Outcast Island presents, "no, there has to be another way…"
"Why are we even attempting such an endeavor? I knew that hatchling was up to no good!" Before Hookfang could finish his fiery rant, Toothless quickly tackled the Monstrous Nightmare in furious anger:
"Don't you DARE say another word about him…" the Night Fury snarled at the other male. He was quite surprised to see the black dragon on top of him. Everyone tried to deescalate the situation, but Hookfang had to make it worse, letting his arrogance shine a bit, "face it, that baby is hiding something…and so are you…Night Fury, you both are!"
"I said, shut up!" Toothless slapped him with his paw before the others pulled them apart.
"Stop! Toothless, get off him!" Hiccup demanded before the Fury finally yielded, letting one last scoff before retreating. Stormfly, Meatlug, and the twin dragons could only watch as the other two reptiles walked off. Meatlug and the Hideous Zippleback thought about what the Nightmare had said, "what does he mean?" The female Gronckle asked and the Nadder next to her shakes their head softly, "never mind what it means for now…maybe they'll explain later"
"Guys, come on, we can't be fighting!" Haddock shook his head in disbelief, "we've got to work together! Look, we have the Book of Dragons, Fishlegs made sure to put it in a safe place" he turned over to the bigger teen who nods repeatably, "but we lost someone important to us…we can't just leave them on that island. I don't know about you all, but every moment we spend not discussing our plan only wastes time that WildWing might have left!" the brown-haired boy looks over to his dragon and Hookfang in response, "that means working together, and I know you two can understand me when I say that!" Hook snorts loudly as Tooth growls back in response at the opposing reptile.
Silence lingers for several seconds until Hiccup sighed softly, "does anyone have an idea besides me?"
"Maybe we can sneak in under the cover of darkness?" Fishlegs suggested but the others shook their heads.
"Boring!" Tuff and Ruff retorted.
"Yea, like I said…let's show them who's boss!" Snotlout added.
As they all try giving other suggestions, Astrid thinks to herself…she thinks about the Book of Dragons…
"What if we used a diversion?" Hofferson asked.
Haddock placed a hand on his chin, rubbing it in place for several seconds…letting what she just said sink in, "what do you suggest?"
The blond Viking girl smirked at this.
…
On Dragon Island, the Ex-Queen silently meditated until her focus is broken by a sudden cry for help in her mind!
No! …this can't be how it ends…please, stop!
She opened her gray, blind, eyes…the world and its senses returned to her, and she looked around…panting loudly as she does. Someone tried to reach out to her subconsciously! The voice is familiar…it's too familiar and she knew immediately who was in trouble: Flint Callahan…
His cries are very faint, but he is close enough that his mind is within her grasp. Her strong mental abilities can pinpoint more or less where he is…especially when Galadriel managed to catch Callahan's memory of his recent arrival on Outcast Island!
"Something must be done…a dragon needs our help!" She cried out as her followers gathered around, "listen, all of you…this dragon, you are familiar with. He is a Night Fury hatchling that often visits these grounds. If not for him, none of us would be here…not me especially. I implore you, to heed my request and go forth to the human island where they are. Find him, for me…I beg of you all."
The group nodded and left in haste for Outcast Island. In transit, they formulate their OWN rescue plan to rescue Flint Callahan from the humans, at any cost.
…
On the island, Heather could only watch as the Outcasts prepared to slay the one companion she had during all her tribulation…the Night Fury hatchling known as WildWing. She cried out to them, begging the men to stop before they can succeed in their attempts to kill possibly one of the few Night Furies left on Midgard. She thought silently to herself, she knew their leader wanted dragons to train…to use against Berk…and maybe she can use this fact against them.
"Alvin, if you want to destroy Berk, you won't do that by KILLING this dragon!"
Before the blade can touch Callahan's neck, Alvin stopped as he, Savage, and the other lackeys turned to face her. Flint the human-turned-dragon turned his head slightly to see her…he felt his heart stop in a moment…but she had saved him…but for how long…hopefully she had a plan to save him fully.
"Night Furies are dangerous enough."
"Imagine having one as your personal steed," she said that so smugly, but all Alvin did in return was laugh back, almost considering slaying the Fury in front of him after the unnecessary interruption; however, Heather continued incessantly, "Night Furies are rare, I know that…YOU know that…why kill him…when you can train him? He's STILL young…imagine having him at your disposal?"
"Hehe…maybe…but these beasts are smarter than they look-" the leader never had time to finish:
"These creatures ARE SMARTER than we took them for…and you have NO IDEA just how smart they actually are, I can prove it!" She retorted, pointing to the dragon, "WildWing…write something. Come on, let him use a claw to write!"
Flint looked down at the floor, thinking deeply about what to do. Once he felt his one arm free, he quickly ran his claw in the dirt. His talon is thick enough to allow writing (in Norse) to be done and it isn't long before his feat amazes the minions and even Savage himself. Alvin, however, was harder to impress, "so what! You think I need a DRAGON to WRITE, I need them to KILL!"
"What other dragons have you seen that can do something like this!?" Heather shouted back from her cell, her hands clutching the rusty web bars in frustration, "you're really going to throw that away, Alvin?"
Savage could see the importance of what is happening before his eyes, and he thought about stopping his leader from doing anything else to the dragon. The girl was right: this unique specimen shouldn't be wasted like all the other beasts they deemed "useless."
Even so, Alvin the Treacherous laughed and laughed, deciding to play along finally: putting away his weapon and Flint breathed a relieved sigh.
"Alright, Heather. You want it to live so bad, so be it. I'll take you right now instead…" he smiled devilishly as Callahan's ears perked and he gasped, no…please…don't!
"Throw the beast back in the cage!" Alvin ordered as his men do so.
Heather backed away from the cell door, shaking her head in fear, "y-you're all despicable!"
Alvin laughs, "I think this will be more fun with your parents watching everything from their cell, don't you think!?"
They opened her cell and began taking her away. She shook violently in a vain attempt to escape but escape was futile. All Flint the Night Fury could do was watch the girl who stood up for him be taken away as he watched helplessly.
Oh God…there must be something I can do! The transformed dragon thought, moving about violently to escape his chains and muzzle. Savage, before joining the others and Heather, looked at the dragon with a blank, yet pondering, look on his face.
Left alone now, Callahan slumped to the floor once he became encumbered from his escape attempts, it can't end this way for us…please…someone…
Tears began falling down his face as doom lingered in the air and settled on his body…his mind soon enveloped in defeat.
…
Night falls, and the Dragon Riders hastily make their way to Outcast Island, preparing to set their plan in motion.
"Remember what we've discussed, Toothless and I will fly in first! Stick to the plan, guys!" Hiccup instructed as they all nodded in agreement. Sure enough, the group splits up once the island comes into view, "hopefully Wild and Heather are alright…" he sighed softly.
Haddock moves down to his best friend's ear and whispers, "alright bud, this should be just like the old days for you" he chuckled. Toothless grinned, thinking about the days he dive-bombed Berk, now he would do the same but for the evil humans that infested this island. Of course, they didn't want anyone getting hurt, but they HAD to disable their fortifications to allow this plan to work.
The Riders go looking for the prisoners in every direction and it isn't long before their presence on the island is discovered.
"Shoot them!" One Outcast member commanded as Snotlout and Fishlegs flew past them.
"Alert the others, they have returned!"
As all this is happening, Alvin laid Heather on the ground across from the cell which contained her parents. They could only watch as their child is forcefully held by the men and the leader of the Outcasts laughed at them, "your daughter has outlived her usefulness."
"Stop, please, enough Alvin!"
"Lay your wretched hands off our daughter!"
The parents had both said to no avail; however, before Alvin can execute the teenager, one of his minions came running in, "Alvin, dragons in the sky…it's the children again!"
Alvin growled in annoyance but then seemed to smirk once his follower mentioned the Book of Dragons to him: "the one on the Gronckle has it in his possession."
"What fools, come…YOU stay here and watch over them" Alvin said before Savage placed the girl in the cage with her parents. The latter immediately embraced her parents in a tearful reunion.
"Are the catapults in position?" Alvin asked Savage, "I can't imagine they wouldn't be."
"Then let's BLOW THEM out of the sky!" Alvin retorted.
It isn't long before explosions rock the surface, however, and the men run out to face the danger: they see one of their catapults firing upon a rapidly moving target. Then, they hear it: a banshee cry that sends shivers down their spine…it's a Night Fury cry!
"That's a"
"Night Fury!"
"Take it down!" Alvin ordered.
As soon as he said that one of the catapults is destroyed while the dragon and its rider pass by so fast that they are already gone before the Outcasts can react.
Sure enough, similar attacks are repeated as their installations are destroyed one by one, and this only infuriates the leader more.
Snotlout and Fishlegs were now being chased by warriors on a cliff. They both turned around to see the men approaching.
"Hook, what are you waiting for, use your fire!"
Unfortunately, his Monstrous Nightmare had nothing left.
"I told you to be careful with your shots, Snot!" Fishlegs retorted.
"How am I supposed to keep count of how many shots he has left when I'm in the MOMENT!?"
"Ugh!"
Before the Outcasts can charge at them, green gas descended upon them and a Hideous Zippleback appeared, ready to ignite the gas.
"You guys might want to run" Ruffnut smirked
"That's no fun" Tuffnut grumbled at his sister's suggestion.
The men quickly made for safety as the gas is ignited.
"Come on!" Fish instructed as the Night Fury above them continued their onslaught under the cover of darkness.
Alvin catches up with them and used a net to bring Meatlug and her rider down. Before the others could help, the men were already surrounding Fishlegs. Savage had brandished a blade close to the boy. The man catches sight of the book, "tell them to stand down…now!"
"G-guys…do what he says, please!" Legs begged in fear.
The other riders quickly land close by and stand down.
"Give me the book, boy" Alvin walked up and demanded.
Fishlegs hesitated, but Alvin narrowed his eyes and Fishlegs finally yielded, giving the book to him. The Outcast leader gives one loud triumphant cry, "at last, I have what I need to control dragons!" The large man began flipping the pages and his smile soon turns into a big frown, "w-what is this…what…"
Savage walks up to him, "what is it?"
"T-this isn't the Book of Dragons, it's just a regular cookbook!" Alvin tore the pages up before throwing them down on the ground, soon eyeing Fishlegs in anger. That's when the former Berkian realizes…this was a diversion…
As all of this is happening, Astrid and Stormfly had landed not too far away and began searching for WildWing, the thoughts of the plan they had conjured is going exactly as planned. Hiccup had disabled their air defenses, now Alvin and Savage and their lackeys are distracted…and left their interior and flanks exposed for Astrid to slip in. Now, it's up to her to do the rest.
"Wild…where are you?" She whispered as she and the Nadder trekked the cellblock.
"Flint…we're here to rescue you!" Stormfly squawked silently.
They continued to search for the hatchling as the others outside are faced with a problem.
Alvin stepped toward Fishlegs, ready to strike him, but before he can even bring his blade down for a lethal blow, several explosions suddenly rock the Island that is not from Toothless.
"What the-"
"Up above!"
Everyone, including the Dragon Riders, look above them to find a dozen or so wild dragons that had descended upon Outcast Island. Alvin looks back to see that Fishlegs, using the opportunity, had rejoined the others.
Before Savage, his leader, and the others can follow they are stopped.
"Toothless, plasma blast!"
The Night Fury blocked the Outcasts' advance with his dragon breath as they flew upwards again.
"Curse you!"
Toothless looked back and gave a small grin. Inside, however, he held back. In his head…he was boiling with rage…if these Outcasts so much as TOUCHED his human/dragon brother…he would incinerate them all, even if Hiccup told him not to! Even so, he and Hiccup continued their bombing runs to help the others.
The teen Fury sensed the wild dragons, wondering why they were here…but their scents made him realize that they came from one place and one place only: Dragon Island…the Queen sent them to help them!
Fishlegs and the others fly away as Alvin roared with rage, "shoot them down!" He lowered his hand as his archers shot their bolts at them. Unfortunately, they were too far out by that point…and now they had to deal with the wild dragons all around them, "take positions uphill, we'll hold them off there!" Savage half-suggested and half-ordered. The wild dragons from Dragon Island and Berk's dragons were surrounding them in a pincer movement, and it appeared as though the Outcasts were facing certain defeat already.
…
Within the island's interior, I was resting against the wall: alone, in misery, and still restrained. I sniffled in vain…believing everything to be lost. That is until I felt the earth shake and the sound of explosions echoing all around me. I stood up; my eyes widened as I looked around. My sensitive ears catch sight of footsteps and my black nose tingles. Someone is here…I stand up to investigate, holding my head against the bars. Since my mouth was held in place by a muzzle, all I could do was warble which sounded like I was underwater. Suddenly, I jump back when I see a small green dragon jumping into view in front of me, "Flint! I found you! I knew I could!"
"A-ah!" I exclaimed, shaking my collar and muzzle. It's the Terrible Terror: Belin!
"Shh! They said in their high-pitched grunt, "I'm here to get you out!" They whispered. I then give a look of annoyance, my ears falling behind me, no kidding, get on with it!
Belin has never seen a cell before, and he tried opening it alone…but it's locked! I shake my head repeatedly, trying to get him to find the key or somehow break this door open, but it's in vain.
"Jeez, this stuff is too robust…how do I get you out?"
I guess it's time to play charades…I sit on my hind legs and give the motion as if I'm unlocking a door. He just stands there confused. Getting increasingly frustrated, I growl before getting back down on all fours to draw in the dirt below. I draw a key and gesture frantically to him.
"I should look for that?"
I nodded forcefully before Belin grinned, determined, "I'll be back, hold on!"
And so, the Terrible Terror went scurrying across the primitive hall, looking for whatever object I had gestured him to find. He soon sees a lone guard, and on his waist is what Belin assumes to be what he's looking for: the key! Quickly and quietly, he travels up to the man to grab them. Unfortunately, he didn't take into consideration that the human would notice something on his leg. Belin looks up and gave a sheepish smile before the man screamed in terror, "d-dragon!" The Terror managed to grab a hold of the rusty key just as the man ran out of the corridor in fright.
"Gotcha!" The green dragon grinned.
Hastily returning to my cell, my eyes light up once I catch sight of the key. I point to where he needs to insert it and he does, quickly moving it so that it unlocks the door. Once it's opened, he slithers in to stop next to me, "I got you! Uh…Flint, what are these things!?"
Restraints, now hurry up! We got to get out of here quick!
He tries his best and eventually settles on pulling the muzzle, biting its leather parts to snap them. Eventually, he's successful and I opened my mouth immediately, receiving pain from having it closed tight for so long, "damn Outcasts…" I growled.
"A-are you okay?"
"Thank you, Belin…quick, help me get this chain and collar off me!" I instructed as he does so.
As we do, I had to ask, "how did you find me?"
"Galadriel" Belin muttered.
"Please tell me she didn't send just you?"
"Nope, didn't come alone, but I'm all the help you need…" the Terror grinned mischievously as I rolled my eyes at him. Once I am freed, I jump out of the cell room and look around before Belin joins my side, "we need to find Heather…"
"Uh…who?"
"I'll explain on the way, come on!"
It isn't long after we left that Astrid and Stormfly stumbled upon my cell…it takes a minute for them to investigate the surroundings. The Deadly Nadder smells the scent, deduces that it's my smell, and points in the direction we went, "that way, girl? Alright, let's hurry!" Astrid exclaimed.
…
Chaos prevailed, the entire island has become a battlefield: with the Queen's dragons engaging the Outcasts and it soon turned into a siege as the humans are forced to fall back into more fortified positions.
The Dragon Riders (except for Astrid and Stormfly) had rejoined Hiccup in the sky.
"What are those dragons doing here?" Hiccup muttered.
"You mean they're not from here?" Fishlegs inquired.
"Toothless and I saw them flying in from the West, maybe they're agitated…" Hiccup suggested, but his dragon knew the reason why.
"Well, what now?" Snotlout inquired.
"Little Toothless is still in there" Ruffnut muttered.
"I say we just watch everything from up here" her brother said.
"Yea, Tuffnut is right: watching things blow up is the best!"
"Guys! Astrid isn't back, which probably means she hasn't found WildWing. Alvin and the others are busy, you guys head for the southern tip, I'm going to go find Astrid. If we're not back in ten minutes, return to Berk without us!" Haddock instructed as everyone else reluctantly agreed.
"Let's go, bud" Hiccup nodded before his Night Fury launched toward the caves.
Down below, Alvin had caught a glimpse of the other Dragon Riders retreating, but Hiccup was nowhere in sight, "this is all a game…they're after the baby Night Fury, Savage with me!" He ordered as both men withdrew and entered the caverns once again.
Not too far away in the interior of Outcast Island, Belin and I make our way through the patrols under the cover of darkness and soon we come across yet another cell: I know by the smell right then and there who it is.
"It's her…" I muttered, stopping right in front of the door as Belin jumps and rests on my back, like how I do with Toothless. I would have been annoyed by it, but we've got more pressing matters to attend to.
"Sophi-Heather!" I corrected myself, warbling to get her attention. It's clear that the two humans behind her are her parents, "hold on, I'll get you all out!" I said in dragon tongue.
"WildWing…how did you escape?"
I didn't even bother to answer, at least for now. I'll try and explain later. I can't use my blast, the cell is too small, it might hurt the three humans in there…there's got to be another way! Belin hears footsteps and taps the side of my head with a wing, "F-Flint!"
I snapped my head around and saw the guard (a different one) with the key standing there, "N-n-n-Night Fury!" They unsheathed their weapon and rushed toward us!
My eyes turned narrow before I suddenly hissed…all the while lowering my form as a clear sign of warning to the intruder. I don't even fight it, I let my dragon instincts take over, my teeth sharper than a Viking axe.
The man brought his blade down, but Belin and I sidestepped and when they went in for a second swing I jumped away in time. Sure enough, they kept coming at me, but I dodged their attempts effortlessly. Even after all that they still came after me, but Belin began harassing the human, "leave him alone!"
The Outcast suddenly grabbed the dragon and I yelped before growling once again. I rush toward the man, it's MY turn now. I slam into him as he lets go of the Terror and I jump up with a beat of my wings to slap him in the face with my tail. He retaliates by swinging to cut it off, but I calculated his moves and moved away in time. I had enough: I unleashed a plasma bolt toward the floor beside him as a warning.
By this point, he is encumbered and can't sway his weapon much anymore. Belin jumped on the man again and grabbed the key quickly as I marched closer to them.
My nightmarish form frightened the man…knowing he cannot win…and he soon ran off in the opposite direction. I heave a sigh of relief, snorting out smoke from my nostrils as a goodbye present to him. I must say, Toothless and his combat lessons helped me A LOT there. Belin came running to me with the key before I take them with my mouth, "danks" I said with my mouth full.
I sit on my legs by the door and inserted the key in the hole and turned it: freeing the family from imprisonment. I couldn't help but strike a heroic pose to them, a smug grin too. Heather smiled back, rubbing the top of my head as I hang my forked tongue for her, "that was great, boy."
She looked down at the Terror, "a friend of yours?" Heather asked before I nodded, "I see." Right after, she kneeled and got my attention again. Heather placed a hand on the side of my snout and looked deep into my eyes, "WildWing…I'm sorry I got you all in this mess…I wish I didn't have to…" She reads my reptilian eyes carefully and couldn't help but smile for a moment, "you are a one of a kind, you know that?"
I look away embarrassingly, but she giggles, "I know you can understand me. You are one incredible dragon." She stands up, determination filling her. She looks to her parents and sighs, "come on, let's get out of here."
Belin just had to jump on my back and chirp back as I chuckled…I might as well let him for now.
A few minutes pass as we make our way through, and it isn't long before trouble finds us. Several Outcast fighters spotted us, "over there!"
Next to us is a cage holding a dangerous wild Monstrous Nightmare and Heather quickly thought up a plan, "Wild, shoot the door!" She pointed and I nodded.
I quickly unleash a blast that destroys the cell door, and the large reddish dragon is released from captivity. The Outcasts had stopped advancing and gasped upon seeing the reptile step out. For a moment the Nightmare glanced at us and snorted before turning its attention to the other group across from us!
"Run!"
"It's after us!"
"Darn it!"
Meanwhile, Toothless and Hiccup arrived in the interior, and it isn't long before the teenage Night Fury starts catching my scent.
"What is it, bud?"
Tooth doesn't respond and begins running down the corridor with the human still on his back, "you got something? They MUST be close!"
As this happens, our group reaches the opposite entrance to the cave. We expect freedom to be in sight but then we are stopped once we notice Alvin the Treacherous waiting for us…
"Going somewhere?" He grunted. Savage walks into view with a weapon drawn as more followers appear, "it looks like 'yer all outnumbered."
They walk toward us as our group slowly backs away. I lower my body and growl in response before Belin does the same.
"There will be no escape for you" Savage muttered, "surrender now."
We ready ourselves for the coming battle…it's up to Belin and me…but we're outnumbered…we must try!
"Very well" Alvin laughed before he ordered his men to charge. Heather makes the wise choice to yell at us, "run!"
We have to…or else we're dead…
And so, we turned around and make our way back the way we came as the Outcasts pursued us.
"Shoot them!" Alvin ordered before his men started shooting their ballistae and crossbows to bring us down. We narrowly dodge the projectiles as we hastily run through the corridor. One man was fast enough to gain on us and almost strikes Heather, but I get in the way and blast him back! I land on the ground on all fours shortly afterwards. Sure enough, more of them launch themselves at me and I try my best to fight them off. Unfortunately, having multiple targets is something I'm not experienced in, and it's not long before I am overwhelmed. One or two good slashes end up with me getting sliced on my side and my arm!
"Aghh!" I yelled in pain as blood starts dripping from the wounds!
"WildWing!" Heather and the others stopped, "we have to help them!" She begged from her parents but what could they do? Belin, being the only one who could possibly aid me in the fight, jumps in to help but I stop him with a growl, "no! Don't!" The Terror backs away in fright, but it made sense…the humans would kill the smaller dragon if he tried to fight back.
The Outcasts went in again, and I dodged further, I had to reserve my energy or else I'll die! I must evade their attacks to the end! As they continued their onslaught, giving me a few more wounds, we hear a miracle from the distance: it's Stormfly! She jumps in and uses her tail to send spikes toward the men around me. The humans are forced back as the bird-like dragon covers me, "Flint, thank goodness you're okay…" Storm said before she noticed my injuries, "Flint…hold on, Astrid and I will get you all out of here!" The dragon squawked before keeping the other humans at bay. Hofferson is close by and ends up by my side. I whined at her, apologizing for what I had done on Berk…but she wasn't worried about that at all…instead she tried to dress my wounds as best as possible with whatever she had. Heather came running to help, stunning Astrid as she does so, "I promise I'll explain everything later" the former said as the blond narrowed her eyes. Unfortunately, she had no choice but to listen to the other girl.
As Stormfly fights off the Outcasts, we hear a high-pitched roar coming from none other than Toothless who arrives with Hiccup!
Stormfly jumps away as she lets the dragon's plasma bolt run into an enemy, sending the human back. Toothless pounced toward them, rearing on his dragon legs before his rider jumps off to check me. He can see multiple slash wounds all over my body as he quivers in despair. The others ripped off some of their clothes to help dress the wounds and it seems to help but it's quite a nasty sight.
"WildWing…no…" Hiccup muttered silently. Toothless had been restless and was finally relieved to see that his brother is okay…but it's only now that he sees the state that I'm in…sees the blood that drips off my bandaged scales into the dirt below. He makes it to me, making sure the Outcasts don't advance on us. The dragon stares into me, mouth trembling "F-Flint…" his face is full of shock.
"Toothless…" I breathed a sigh in pain, "I'm sorry…"
The smell of my injuries enters his nostrils…and the sight of my injured form horrifies the Night Fury. The world around him slows down…sound deafens. He begins to shake…rage soon overtaking him. His only Night Fury companion, human or not, had been hurt by these evil humans. The smaller dragon he calls brother…whom he helped survive in this world…now lays in front of him…broken. It's not long before the dragon felt himself succumbed to blind fury, slowly turning back to the opposing humans in front of him.
What have they done…they, Toothless thought in solemn, they will pay!
For the Outcasts, they witness, for the first time, the terrifying glimpse of an enraged Night Fury…they were about to witness its wrath upon their wretched souls. As if the devil himself had called upon the unholy creature to deliver swift justice: the dragon dressed in black charged at them blindly. Hiccup could only look up in dread at what is about to happen, "bud…no!"
Toothless did not listen, the first few men, who had no trouble fighting me, were already down. The dragon used his blasts, his talons, anything to bring the group of humans down. Hiccup ran toward his best friend, trying to stop him.
One by one, each Outcast member is taken out, some even gravely wounded by the beast. Alvin and Savage were HORRIFIED to see what was happening but quickly composed themselves to try and defend their lives. When it's only the two of them left standing, Savage tries to swipe down at Toothless, but the dragon is TOO QUICK, he uses his tail to send the man on the ground. Alvin roars in anger, bringing his weapon down for a killing blow, but the Night Fury pounced on him instead and restrained him. Before long, the Night Fury slashed Alvin's face with their claws when the latter tried to fight back. Stormfly had just arrived, stepping in front of Toothless to stop the dragon from getting his first kill. Hiccup followed suit, trying his best to calm his best friend. In a moment like how he saved Spitelout months prior, Hiccup, and Stormfly, brought their friend back from his rage and calmed him.
Though none of them had died, many of the Outcasts that dared got in the dragon's way were just as hurt as I was, and it was enough to be a terrible sight.
I could only watch, horrified to see what he did…what Toothless could do…for a moment I saw his face…his monstrous, feral, appearance…I've never seen anything so disturbing in my life…as if it were a nightmare…I closed my eyes, hoping it would end.
"Stop Toothless! Stop, please…"
"Listen to Hiccup!" Stormfly begged.
Alvin, blood pooling from the right side of his face, is surprised to see this from the boy and the Nadder, especially when Toothless steps off him. Savage, meanwhile, took this time to try and retaliate with his weapon, but Stormfly used her tail to stop him: sending the man back.
"Let's go, Hiccup!" Astrid yelled as Heather and her parents helped me up from the ground. Our group slip past a stunned Alvin and Savage. We quickly exited the cave to rejoin the others. Toothless, now having his senses returned, allowed Hiccup to place me on his back behind the boy. Heather rides on Stormfly with Astrid, who is reluctant at first but allows her…seeing as how she'll ask questions once they're back on Berk or on the way there. Heather's parents are helped by Fishlegs and the rest of the group. Now that everyone is together once again, we hastily leave Outcast Island behind…
Down below: Alvin, not one to shiver in fear, stuttered repeatably as Savage saw our group leave, "d-did you see how that boy…controlled his dragon?"
"Alvin, you're wounded…" Savage asked worryingly as the wild dragons that descended upon them retreated and the battle finally ended.
"It's only a flesh wound…besides…we just survived a Night Fury attack…I TOLD you those things are too dangerous to be kept alive…"
"I-I believe you now…"
"Heh, you do?" Alvin laughed, covering his eye with a hand, "then you'll believe me when I say we will GET that Night Fury…"
"Alvin…what are you saying…that creature wiped out our group in seconds!" Savage muttered…
"Precisely! I WANT that DRAGON! Do you realize what we have just seen today…those children used dragons against us…and won! I will do the same to Berk…I will get that BOOK and I will train dragons to DESTROY them all!"
Alvin…what if next time that Fury decides to finish us off, he could have killed us but barely spared us all instead, Savage thought to himself…but dared not voice his opinion on the matter.
Meanwhile, as our group journeys through the open ocean for Berk, I dazedly look around, weakly lifting my head. Heather and her parents are safe now…and everyone else returned without a scratch on their back…with the exception of me. The last thing I saw that night was the worried look on Tooth's face as he looked back momentarily to check on my condition.
"H-hold on, WildWing, we're getting you home, you're going to be okay!" Hiccup worryingly said.
His words repeated, echoing until it became faint…
I passed out from my injuries.
…
Phew! That was a lot. I hope you all enjoyed this recent addition. I think the last third is a bit crazy…and I do believe it's going to leave a LASTING impact on Flint. I hope you all enjoy the weekend, take care.
