Hey everyone! Sorry for the delay in this next chapter…I kind of had writer's block for my story 50,000 Volts and I uploaded a recent chapter on Monday. Thankfully, I'm here with a new update the same week for this story!

A note: this chapter takes place in an alternate version of Defenders of Berk S1 episode 3 "The Night and the Fury."

I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 27: Return to Dragon Island

The Outcasts had made numerous attempts to attack Berk since Heather and I were rescued by Hiccup and the Fallen Queen, but time and time again their efforts were foiled by us.

Unfortunately, it wasn't just the Outcasts we had to worry about…

There came a day in the middle of Autumn: a meeting was held at the Dragon Academy. Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III gathered everyone for a special assignment…one that would be briefed by none other than Astrid Hofferson.

"Tomorrow's mission is actually Astrid's idea" Haddock began, gesturing to the blonde Viking across from him. The other teens were less than thrilled by the revelation. The dragons all looked at their riders with confused looks on their faces, but deep inside they somewhat felt uneasy by Hiccup's decision.

"What!?" She raised her hands in response.

"No offense Astrid but your training missions are so hard!"

She takes offense to this as Toothless and I look toward one another with amused grins running down our faces.

"They're not!"

Fishlegs displays his left hand, showing a bandaged palm in retaliation, "hand to claw combat!"

To help with his gestured wound, Meatlug licks her trainer's hand to comfort him, "I hope you feel better" she said to him in draconic tongue before they hug.

Snotlout jumps in the frame, adding to Fish's objection, "spine dodging!?"

"Hot lava swimming?" Tuff also adds. Ruff can't help but chuckle at the thought of her brother swimming in lava. They ought to try it someday, she thought.

Astrid scoffs at their protests, "we…never did that…"

"Yea, but you should've" Tuffnut retorted, "way better than hand-to-claw combat!" He said as Ruffnut bursts into laughter.

"Look guys, this mission is easy" Hofferson tried to encourage them, pointing at the map. I look up at Toothless, who's beside me, and I lift myself on two legs, "I bet you it won't be…" I whispered in the Teen Fury's ear as he lowered his head and snickered in response.

"Dragon Island."

We heard Astrid say before Toothless and I snapped our heads up toward her! Our cat-like eyes widened as our reactions are joined in by the other teenage dragons across from us. Toothless and I look at one another with new dread flooding our faces.

"The Queen…" Toothless muttered silently.

"Belin…the others…they'll be discovered…" I whined under my breath, ears flattening.

We had no choice but to listen in and hear the plan Astrid has for the group.

"You just have to go from this beach on the east side to this cave on the west side."

"Flint…" Tooth whispered, "what if they find her?"

"I dunno…maybe I can…warn them…maybe she can hide?" I look away after muttering this.

The larger Fury steps closer, placing a paw on my back, "the Queen… can't see or fly anymore…it's not like she can hide for too long either. She's as big as those buildings from your era, Flint."

"I know!" I snap back, almost louder than him, but I stop myself midsentence to lower my volume, "what else can we do?"

"You'll go at night" Hofferson added, much to the annoyance of her friends, "with no camping gear and no dragons."

Snotlout protests feebly, "what's the point of this!?"

"To work on our stealth skills and our wild dragon defense."

A thought crosses my mind suddenly…what if we join in Snot's objection? Maybe we can get Hiccup and Astrid to not follow through with this assignment!? I quickly tell Toothless, and he and I get the others to voice in.

"Ah, now look what you did, you got them wanting to do something else!" Astrid groaned.

Yes! Come on, let's at least change the location for goodness sake! Why did it have to be Dragon Island?

Unfortunately, Hiccup silenced us with a hand, "guys…Astrid is right. Look, it's meant to help us improve on areas that we need work on."

I ran up to the boy and shook my head. Toothless joined in…to help change the Viking's mind on locations, I even pointed with a wing on the map to try and make them think of another place. Unfortunately, none of that helped change their minds…

We, as in Tooth and I, pull away. I then hopped right in front of Tooth so we're suddenly eye-to-eye. Stormfly and the other dragons move in to join us.

"What will we do about the dragons on Dragon Island?" The Deadly Nadder asked worryingly.

"Flint told me…the Queen is important to him" Meatlug looked down toward me. A motherly aura surrounded her…as if I were her son. She had this trait about her, and I guess I should say it helped to calm me a bit.

Stormfly looks toward her with a nod, "she sends visions to him…Toothless told me she gives Flint here the ability to see his future world again…as only an observer through memories…isn't that right?"

The Night Fury nodded back to confirm this. Barf and Belch couldn't believe it, not even after I told them the truth.

"So, he really IS a human…for real?" Barf asked.

"That was obvious by the way he acts" Belch retorted in a fashion like Ruff and Tuff.

"Now wait a sec, you couldn't tell either!"

"Could too!"

"Could not!"

"Quit it!" Stormfly squawked at them, unfurling her wings as a warning as they moved back a bit at this. Tooth's loud sigh gets everyone's attention, "she helped save him on Outcast Island…the least we can do is return the favor."

"I still can't believe she did" Storm added.

"Flint here…he helped change her."

"I saved her" I muttered silently; my head turned away from them, "it only made sense she would make it even…" I sat on my hind legs and placed a claw to my bottom muzzle, thinking carefully, "they said no dragons will accompany them, so maybe I can try leading the Queen and the others to the opposite side and keep them hidden?"

"You do realize there is practically NO way the Queen will be able to keep quiet and hidden given her size?" Hookfang interjected.

"You may be right, Hook, but we got to at least try something" Tooth said back, "I say we go with Flint's plan. I'm certain things will work out."

"For everyone's sake on that island, I hope so" Stormfly said, "If humans find out Dragon Island is still inhabited, that may be bad news…"

"Very bad" Meatlug moved in.

"Guys…this is Hiccup and the teens we're talking about!" Toothless chimed in.

"Worst case…they find dragons…they find the Queen…so what?!" I exclaimed, "look…I'll try and tell Hiccup…tell him the truth before we leave…"

Sure enough, just before sunset: as Hiccup prepared to leave, I approached him…gesturing for him to hand me a blank sheet of paper. Once I slipped the writing prosthetic on, I winced upon realizing that I actually had no idea what the words for Alive or Queen were! I curse silently under my breath. Thankfully, I had other plans. Toothless watched from the sidelines as I drew a crude picture of the Queen on her island…again: I'm NOT a good artist, so the appearance is sloppy. Still, at least the boy could make out what I was trying to tell him.

"Yes, that's where we're going, WildWing…that's where the Queen lived. Well, you know what happened. Look little bud, if you're worried about us getting into trouble, don't worry…the Queen is-"

I stopped him, gesturing him with a paw: slapping down at her picture, "she's alive and is a friend!" I say in dragon tongue…as if he could ever understand me. I growl under my breath.

He just looked at me in confusion. I roll my eyes and decide to write something I DID KNOW: friend.

As soon as he saw the word I wrote to him, he is even more confused, "w-wait…Wild…what are you telling me…no…" he pulled away, giving a laugh as if to dispel the fact. I narrowed my eyes, writing another word: she.

If Hiccup can't decipher this simple message, we're screwed.

The final message obviously read in Norse: She friend.

He stopped, staring down at the words and the drawing. I look up at him with pleading eyes…begging him to understand my message. Toothless walked up and sat down next to me, staring at his rider with a similar expression.

Hiccup takes a moment to let it sink in; however, all he does is shake his head, "n-no, Wild…I don't think that's the word you're looking for…I think you're trying to call her a fiend. I don't think I taught you that word yet, it means something…or somebody is evil. The Queen is definitely a fiend and NOT a friend."

Toothless and I turn to each other. I sigh softly afterward, looking away.

Haddock crouches down and strokes the top of my head to try and calm me, "it's okay…I know you're scared…but believe me…she's gone. We'll be fine, WildWing." He stood up and gestured to us, "come on you two, let's go get the others."

"We're screwed…" I mutter softly before Tooth nudges my side in comfort.

That night as the group ventured to Dragon Island, I tried to warn the others via telepathy…calling out to the Queen in my mind. As we got closer, she got my message. Galadriel the Ex-Queen, Belin, and the others all sensed us arriving.

"The Vikings are coming" the behemoth warbled down to her followers.

"More!?" A male Deadly Nadder exclaimed in panic. Soon more joined him before the Ex-Queen growled, "enough!" Silence came afterward, she tried to listen to what I had to say in her mind as we approached Dragon Island.

Gala, tell everyone that the Dragon Riders will be going around the island in all directions on foot. I thought maybe they would all keep together, and we could hide on the opposite side of them, but it won't work! We need to somehow be able to hide your presence from them all at times.

The colossus relayed the message to everyone before a wild Gronckle roared back, "what do they suggest?"

What do you suggest, Flint, the Queen asked, using (only) my first name for the first time. I shook my head. Toothless across from me knew I was having a mental connection with Galadriel because of my slit eyes.

H-how deep does the caldera go, anyway?

Meanwhile, Belin tapped her shoulder, asking what was going on. She explained before the Terror looked up, "maybe you can hide in the mist, no problem!"

Callahan, I don't think the Viking children will care if they saw the others…but I must tell you…you are not the only ones here-

My mental dyad is broken when I hear Astrid shout, "what's wrong with him!?"

"Wild, are you alright?" Hiccup looked toward me worryingly. I shook my head before my eyes turned square again. I had to think of something, I suddenly gave a gum smile with my tongue out. Tuffnut, on his dragon alongside his sister, looks away slowly, "awkward…"

On the island: the other dragons spread out, and the Ex-Queen hides inside the volcano…under the mist.

Soon enough, our group disembarks on the black sandy beach whilst carrying lanterns to light up the way. I look around, nodding softly to myself: most of the dragons that stay here are currently gone, they're hiding I reckon.

Tuffnut leads the group of dragons, including Toothless and me, into a cave away from the others. Just as they planned: the teenagers all dispersed across the island in all directions. The Vikings are doing this, so they know how to survive without their dragons in case they are separated. It's a sweet idea I guess, but now's not the time to be praising them.

The Ex-Queen tried her best to stay hidden but with the volcano and its interior exposed, it proved to be a challenge. Her followers now had orders to try and distract the Viking teens if they get too close to her and whatnot. Nevertheless, the dragon group tried their best NOT to arouse attention to themselves and accidentally expose Galadriel.

Unfortunately, once we entered the cave: we are forced to stay inside by Tuffnut. As we all are forced to hear his rambling about ghosts, Toothless (after being drawn by an outside presence) tried leaving but he is stopped by the twin male. Following a comedic return, and a scrutinizing gaze, from the Night Fury to Tuff, the charcoal-scaled dragon stomps back to my side to rest.

I warble to him, nodding softly, "I sense it too…"

"I'm anxious about all this…" the teen Fury murmured silently before I leaned toward him, "good reason to be…we're not the only ones on this island, Toothless…"

Toothless and his ears rise suddenly, and he snaps his head toward me, "what?"

"Galadriel, she told me…"

Toothless scoffs suddenly, not needing further explanation, "great…just great…while everyone's out there by themselves…we're in here doing nothing!"

"Let's wait a few minutes…then it's your call" I said, "the darkness should provide cover for us…"

"What about him?" The Night Fury pointed with the tip of his muzzle…to Tuffnut, who's still telling the pointless ghost stories to the others.

"We could always eat him" I said cynically. Tooth looked at me with a bit of surprise, but then he chuckled, "careful, you just might get your wish very soon, Flint" the dragon said with equal spirit.

I shrug.

Meanwhile…

Belin the Terrible Terror had gathered some members of his kind to follow him and carefully follow Snotlout. The buff teen had been exploring a path with a small stream flowing down the hill. Unfortunately for the small pocket-sized dragons they accidentally made themselves known when one of the Terrors steps on another's tail. Snotlout snaps his body to the left and finds the lizards hiding near some shrubs, "you three don't look so tough…alright then, bring it on…I'm ready for you!"

"Is this human serious?" One asked.

"I suppose, but we shouldn't escalate-" Belin never finishes because the third member growls at the Viking, "let's get 'em!"

The two reptiles jumped at the boy, and it resulted in the three falling into a pool of water behind them. Belin soon gave the most annoyed face he had ever made in his life.

As all this happens, Hiccup is surveying the base of the dormant Volcano from a cliff. Not long after distracting some Gronckles, he spots the smoke seeping from a camp at the base of Dragon Island…indicating someone is there, "are you kidding me, guys? Campfire is NOT stealthy!"

While Haddock investigates the camp, a mere few meters from where the Queen is currently hiding in. How he did NOT spot her from the exposed face of the volcano, I may never know. Horrendous III reaches the human camp, alone, looking all around for who's responsible for making the firepit, "okay…come out Snotlout! This has your name written all over it! Come on, I'll go easy on you-"

Hiccup realizes too late that it wasn't Snot, or anyone else from his group, who made the camp…

Before the boy can react properly, the brown-haired Berkian is tackled by an unknown adversary. Hiccup, after recovering from the initial shock, looks up to see the death stare of a person he is all too familiar with. That pointed nose, the tattoo over his left eye…that DERANGED look…yup. It's clear who it is, but the boy still can't help but gasp at the revelation, "Dagur!?"

The other male pulls back upon realizing who it is.

"Hiccup!? You're alive!" He brought the scrawny kid into a hug with Haddock giving a sheepish grin, "um, yea…still breathing…for now. How about you…haven't seen you since-"

"Since you saved me from those pesky dragons while on Berk!" Dagur interrupted him, "Hiccup…you fought off a Night Fury!"

The small, frail, teen began getting nervous at this point: rubbing the back of his head as he recalled the fake battle that he and the others made to rid the Berserkers from Berk. The taller male excitedly remembers the moment as if it had just happened in his mind…momentarily drawn by the rush of adrenaline when it happened. Soon, however, his entire mood shifts, and he points his sword at Hiccup, "so then, what are you doing here?"

Haddock scoffed silently, slapping his hands against his sides, "what am I doing here…"

"Don't answer that!" Dagur pointed his weapon at him again, "I know EXACTLY why you're on this forsaken island."

"Um…y-you do…uh…why?" The Berkian gulped, his hands in the air as if surrendering to the man across from him.

"Heh, why!?" Dagur narrowed his eyes. His whole mood changed again as if it were a light switch, "like me, you're here to hunt dragons!" The Berserker gave a sinister smile to Hiccup.

The latter gave a nervous laugh back, "heh…yup…that's…why I'm here…just me…Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III…all by myself!"

"That's…very brave of you, Hiccup, I must ask: you were brave enough to challenge an elusive and deadly Night Fury…what happened to it if I may ask?" He asked in a slightly curious yet threatening manner. Dagur the Deranged stepped closer as the other human backed away slowly in response.

"Well, Dagur…you see…it, uh…got away."

Expecting the taller teen to react adversely, Hiccup is instead surprised to see the Berserker so excited, "that's GREAT news! Forget all these other dragons, you and me…we're going to find the unholy offspring of lightning and death itself. We're going to finish what you started, we are going to destroy it once and for all!"

Hiccup and his eyes widened at the realization, trying the best he can not to freak out in front of his adversary. Dagur walked away and started howling before begging Haddock to join in. If there wasn't trouble before…now they're in BIG trouble…and he knew this…

Toothless and I are STILL in the cave, and our nerves are reaching a breaking point. We KNOW that there are other humans on this island and the others may be in danger…we must ACT…NOW! Toothless knew this and nodded to me, standing up.

"Tooth…remember…we have to keep a low profile. Let's just check things out. Once we know what we're dealing with, we can decide on what to do…yea?"

"Fine" he nodded. Sure enough, both of us tried leaving the cave again…catching the attention of the other dragons in the room and Tuffnut.

"Now hold on a minute there, dragons…I hope you both have been listening…because I'm going to give a pop quiz later!"

Toothless scrunched up his face…giving a low growl. He had enough of Tuffnut, "We don't have time for this" Tooth suddenly smacks his paw on top of Tuff's helmet. It was just enough to render the Viking unconscious, "ah…ah…guess it's okay we…sleep for a…while…"

We look at the Night Fury with raised brows. He looks toward us with a confused expression, "what…at least I didn't eat him!"

"Touché" Stormfly chirped.

"That was sweet" Belch chuckled.

"Where are we going exactly?" Barf inquired before his brother moved his head toward his brother's own, "to find our riders, duh!"

"Or maybe the Furies just need to bask in the moonlight" Meatlug added in.

"Pfft…I hate to burst your bubble, Gronckle, but there are other humans on this island." Hookfang shook his head.

All the other dragons jump in surprise, "what?" They all said in unison.

Fang nodded to confirm this, "I heard Toothless and Flint discussing it…that our riders may be in danger."

"Which is WHY we need to get MOVING" Tooth retorted, "come on everyone."

They all nodded before following Toothless and me out of the cave.

"Will he be alright?" Meatlug the female Gronckle stopped, asking worryingly but the Hideous Zippleback stopped, both heads grinning at her, "Tuffnut'll be alright…Ruff always does stuff like that to him…"

"Ah…alright…" the Gronckle shifted her eyes at the answers, finally deciding to continue.

Our group leaves in search of Hiccup and the others. It's becoming ever clearer that this is no longer a training mission…it's becoming a search and rescue!

Not long after, Tuffnut awakens to find our group missing. He goes out of the cave to start searching for us.

As we follow Hiccup's scent, we had run into the pack of Terrors led by Belin:

"Flint, you guys have to hide! This person is dangerous!"

"We figured…we have to find Hiccup and the other riders…right away!" Toothless said, nodding.

"And get everyone out of here!" I added in.

"What about the Queen?"

I sighed softly, "I don't know…as long as she stays hidden…I guess…"

"These humans will search every corner…especially if they're looking for you!" Belin retorted. Toothless and I looked at each other, "h-how did you…"

"One of my scouts came to me…they eavesdropped on Hiccup and his conversation with the strange human…that man is hunting you, Toothless!" Belin explained.

You all must leave at once

We heard the Ex-Queen echo in our minds.

Inside the Volcano, the Ex-Queen sensed something bigger coming their way…something that was hidden from her before. It's a clad of Berserker ships coming close to Dragon Island. She knows now that it's only a matter of time before Toothless and the others are found. It may be inevitable…she must intervene…

"We're not leaving without you!" I yelled back.

You know as I do that I cannot leave…it's for the best…you must think about the others now…not me anymore. Now go!

"Damn it!" I cursed out loud, slamming my paw against the dirt in frustration.

Toothless narrowed his eyes, taking the initiative. He snaps his head toward the others behind him, "go find your riders, everyone…now!"

They didn't even second-guess his command, even Hookfang…they knew what had to be done. Now it's just Toothless, Belin, and me.

"Flint…we've got to go."

"I know…but Hiccup."

"That's what I mean…we have to find him…and save him…he's being held hostage probably!"

"From what my scout described…he is" Belin jumped on my back and nodded.

"Remember what I taught you about stealth, Callahan" the Night Fury prodded his head against my side.

"Right…" Toothless had a point. Our scales, being as dark as they are…these midnight scales…they're perfect for nocturnal camouflage. We can sneak up behind the humans: grab Hiccup and get the heck out of dodge before his captor can even react on time!

Unfortunately, as we discussed our plan, our growls and grunts (and my yells) had led Dagur straight to us…

Hiccup is still under 'custody' of his 'friend' Dagur the Deranged, who couldn't help but brag about his growing knowledge of dragons…showing his 'trophies' to a startled Hiccup. The latter is increasingly nervous about the other male's obsession with his best friend: the Night Fury.

Sure enough, the Berserker holsters his crossbow and beckons the boy to follow him. They travel through the island, soon running into Snotlout and Fishlegs! The reunion does not last, for Dagur hears something in the distance…a sound he heard before in the ring on Berk before he fled. It's the sound of grunts and growls from a certain dragon that his "brother" Hiccup had bravely fought against…the sounds of the dreaded Night Fury! Bingo!

Sure enough, he unholstered his ranged weapon and aimed.

Toothless had his head down, trying his best to persuade me to take the stealthy approach, but then his ear rose. His eyes widened, wincing before forcefully tackling me, "get down!"

We hear and feel a bolt wisp past us, hitting the bark of a tree! Belin had jumped away on time and now hovered in mid-air…he is able to see who's responsible for the attack:

"You see that, Hiccup!? It's here…and there's another Night Fury with it too! You did it, you led us to them!" Dagur howled, moving up ahead. As Toothless and I recover, still on the ground, Belin the Terror squinted his eyes in anger before moving down to us, "go…I'll stall them!"

"Come on, Flint" Tooth helped me up.

"B-Belin…"

"Get outta here!" The green dragon exclaimed, calling for the other Terrible Terrors in the area to join him. They fly down from the cliff toward Hiccup, Dagur, Fishlegs, and Snotlout. Astrid so happened to catch everything that had happened and tried to play along…especially when the Terrors descended upon Dagur the Deranged!

The male growls in annoyance, "Darn things!" Hofferson "helps" the man, getting the Terribles off him.

"Nice going, you messed up my trap!" The blonde Viking groans at him.

"Pfft, why hunt those garden rats when you can take down a pair of Night Furies!?" He retorted.

Fishlegs and Snotlout, in the background, look toward one another in fear.

"T-that was Tooth…" Fishlegs inhaled sharply.

Hiccup overheard Fish and stopped him just in time. Astrid glances over to Belin and his posse who are stalking the group under the cover of darkness…she could swear she recognizes one of them…

Either way, Dagur proceeds up the cliff in pursuit of Toothless and me, "the rest of you ought to head home. Hiccup and I got this…you'll only slow us down" Deranged, after giving a look of disapproval, laughed hauntingly.

Hofferson scratches her chin in thought: they could gather their dragons together, but that left the Furies.

"Astrid…get the others out of here…I'll…take care of this…somehow…"

"But he's hunting Toothless and Wildwing…"

"I know, but we also can't let Dagur find out we train dragons on Berk…"

She backs away and nods softly, "alright, promise me you'll get them out, yourself included!"

"I will" Haddock smiled before the female Viking gathered Fishlegs and Snotlout, "Dagur won't hurt me" Hiccup chuckled, "I'm his 'brother'"

Speaking of the crazy Berserker, he grabbed the boy and led him down the path Tooth and I had taken to escape. Belin, from the sidelines, heard everything and tried to communicate with the Ex-Queen.

Galadriel, can you tell the others where the Night Furies are?

He heard her voice vibrate inside his little mind:

Yes...the two Furies…are they alright?

The Terrible Terror scoffed, looking down at the chase happening before him:

Not exactly, but I know where they're headed!

Toothless and I scurried between the rocks…the moon lit up the dark path for us. Unfortunately, other obstacles are slowing down our progress. I could fly…but my dragon brother could not…I'm NOT leaving him here to fend for himself…that's for sure!

Dagur the Deranged is right behind us! I panted heavily as Toothless climbed a cliff, "Flint, you can fly…just go on without me!"

"You're crazy if you think I'm going to do that!" I said fondly, growling back as I did.

"Damn it, Flint…if he catches us both…"

"We'll be stuffed and hanged on a wall…I got it…" I flew up to join him on top of the cliff. My ear flinches before I turn around, just as my pupils turn oval, "look out!" I warned as we dodged yet another arrow/bolt from the crazy Berserker!

I turned around, I had enough: I released a purple plasma bolt at the human in response. Hiccup and Dagur are forced to jump out of the way before the Night Fury next to me scolds me hard, "what are you doing!? Our Hiccup is with that monster!"

I shake my head, "we can't keep running like this!"

"No time to argue about it, come on!" The dragon stopped suddenly, ending up by a cliff overlooking the vast ocean. His heart sank just as I rush over to him. I didn't realize there was an edge, and he was forced to reach over and grab my neck with his jaws to stop me from falling! He pulls me back to the edge. Our hearts are pounding…we're panting like dogs. We stand up and look around us.

"N-no…no…no! There's got to be another way around!" I exclaimed hopelessly, shaking my head in despair.

Toothless the Night Fury sighed softly and turned to face me slowly, "Flint…go…"

"N-no! I'm NOT leaving you behind!"

"You will right now!" He quickly placed a paw on my shoulder, "come on…go…please…"

"Toothless…" I muttered softly. I am reminded of the time he came and rescued me on that mountain cliff on Berk…the day I told him the truth. I won't leave him…no matter what. We're brothers…there's not a chance in hell I will leave this dragon to his fate!

Looking over his shoulder, more dread fills me, however, "look…" I warbled.

He turns around and to his surprise finds the Berserker fleet close by.

"Looks like I'm not going anywhere after all…"

Toothless turns to face me with his eyes emanating pure fear…not just for him…but for me.

Belin watched from the sidelines. His eyes widened. Instinct driving him, he called out to the Queen in his head again.

Having cornered us on the cliff, Dagur readies his crossbow to strike the smaller Night Fury in front of him, who is within sight. He walked toward the two of us, circling us as if we were his prey. Just as the man prepares to fire, Tooth quickly stepped in, standing in my way to protect me. He gave a full-blown snarl, his tail swishing back and forth wildly behind him. There's a gleam in his bright green eyes. If Dagur was afraid of the sight of an angered Fury, it would have caused him to run away; however, this look from the dragon only PLEASED the human who gave a wicked, toothy, smirk back. Soon, he would have two Night Fury heads on his wall, he thought.

Hiccup, meanwhile, couldn't take it anymore.

"Dagur!"

Before the boy can tell Dagur of his true relationship with the two Night Furies, a sudden earthquake rocks the platform we are all on! A loud, booming, noise rings in all our ears. The two humans rock back and forth as Toothless and I realize what's happening, "F-Flint!"

I look at the half-collapsed Volcano before my eyes widened slowly.

The Ex-Queen emerged from the ground not too far away, which was her hiding spot, and made herself known to the humans!

Dagur the Deranged and Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III give the proper reaction: their jaws drop, and panic overtakes them both!

For the Berkian, it's a shocking discovery, the dreaded Queen of Dragons…who he long since thought had died is still alive! How is it possible!? He remembered seeing the beast getting trapped under the volcano! How on Midgard did she survive!? The boy takes a step back in response, stammering as he does.

For Dagur, the sudden appearance of such a creature caused him to panic! He is already on the edge when it appeared and all it took for him to fall into the waters below was a step back in fear…but it mostly came from Belin tackling him! The Terror growled upon seeing the human trip and fall. Haddock and us, in response, rush toward the side to see the Berserker emerging from the cold waters. He turns to his ships in a panicked voice and shouts, "dragon attack!"

Hiccup, meanwhile, looks behind him…falling on his back upon seeing the Queen move closer to us. Belin the Terror flew up and landed on her shoulder. The Viking could see the scars all over her body…he quickly glanced over the holes in her wings…but most importantly: he gazed into her blind eyes in fear.

Tooth and I were quick to jump in front of him to calm the human down, "it's okay, Hiccup…she's with us!" I exclaimed in dragon tongue.

"WildWing…" the human murmured in response. Soon, I start writing on the ground with a talon for him to read. I make a certain word in Norse for him…one he read from me not too long ago before we came here.

Belin raised an eyebrow at me, "what are you doing?"

"He's writing to them" Toothless retorted.

"I don't want him to fall off the cliff too" I scoffed. I pulled away for Hiccup to read the word I wrote for him. He squinted his eyes to see what it is:

Friend

The Viking reads my sloppy handwriting, but he is amazed by what I had meant before.

"W-Wild…you mean to tell me…that's what you meant by…you weren't writing Fiend…you were trying to tell me…the Queen…she's your…Friend…" Hiccup said as he gazed into my eyes. I nodded back, giving a bright smile to him. He finally understood.

The Ex-Queen looks down at us: a motherly, protective aura engulfed her form: she is determined to fend off the Berserker fleet for our sake. Hiccup is amazed when he sees other dragons from the island join her side to protect us.

Fortunately, upon reaching a longboat, the Berserker known as Dagur ordered the fleet to retreat, "I was told this beast was slain by the Vikings on Berk…how is it alive?"

"That's the…the Queen of Dragons!?"

"Do we attack?"

"With this small fleet...are you nuts!? She'll destroy us! Haven't you seen all the boats lying around Helheim's Gate, you idiot!? Get us out of here…now!" Dagur shouted back, looking back. He could not see Hiccup from where he is. The Berserker assumed the worst: he assumed that Hiccup met a terrible fate at the hands of the Furies, "I'll avenge you Hiccup…but not today…but I will avenge you…I will destroy her for you…I promise!"

And with that statement, the Berserkers pulled out of Dragon Island and left for home.

Back on the island, Astrid and the others find Hiccup and the twin Furies facing Galadriel the giant. Before exchanges can be made, Haddock stops them, "w-wait, they're…they're NOT a threat!" As he said that, the beast had gone to a more docile pose for them.

"Hiccup…" Hofferson said in concern, "this is the same giant that tried to kill us!"

"I know…but something about her has changed!"

I nudged him with my muzzle, nodding softly toward him before Toothless joined in, but soon he moved closer to the Ex-Queen…catching his rider's attention.

Before the boy or anyone can stop him, the Night Fury stopped just a few meters away. Suddenly, the Ex-Queen gracefully bowed to him…sending the teens into shock and amazement! The Dragon Riders of Berk could not believe their eyes…

The same Queen that had tried killing them months ago…the same beast that was responsible for the Viking-Dragon War…is now on their side.

I hope you all enjoyed this recent chapter. I figured that with these events unfolding that it would change the history of the Defenders of Berk storyline. Now the Berserkers know there is a Queen on Dragon Island…what will they do? Dagur was not told by Hiccup that he trained the Night Furies or that there are Dragons on Berk (unlike in the original timeline where Hiccup stopped Dagur and told him the truth, angering Dagur.)

So, pretty much things will go down a different path from this point forward, at least for a while. I hope you all are as excited as I am to see how things are going to go down in this AU!

Until next time, take care…peace!
